I have 4 of these in my bathroom. I’ve created some great moody colourful scenes.
Really good for relaxing in the bath. Each light can be controlled individually.
Shame they are pricy but worth i

I’ve got a few of these in different rooms.
Linked wirelessly via a Philips hub, the sheer range of colours and scenes you can use is vast.
There is so much more to them than just changing the bulb colour, you can link with Alexa, you can set the lights to automatically come on at sunset with a particular “scene” and much more.
Th app even allows you to synch the lights with sound – so much fun.
I cannot imagine ever going back to simple bulbs.

Easy to integrate with Google Home – White Ambiance definitely gives you better options than standard White. Make sure to have a Google speaker connected with your Google Home to have this integrated with Google Assistant, e.g. A Google Nest Mini / Nest Audio – Google will not allow you to integrate these lights without a speaker or just using Google Home app alone. It might work with a Nest Point too.

No need for a bridge – picked up straight away by Echo. Alexa integration is seamless and routines work as expected.

I was waiting for a normal GU10 LED bulb to go in my hallway to give me an excuse to replace all three with this set. And it finally happened! I have an old hub so wasn’t sure if they work as these are called “Bluetooth” bulbs. But itlooks like it’s Bluetooth plus zigbee as they work perfectly in my setup. Really like setting different colour temperatures for different times of the day, and the nightlight setting is useful too.

I bought four of these Philips Hue GU10 spotlight bulbs as I was fed up of having dazzling LEDs beaming down on me whilst I was trying to relax in the bath. These bulbs totally change the look of my bathroom into a place of tranquility – I especially love the ability to use a “dynamic” scene where the bulbs slowly cycle through range of chosen colours. I also have them set to a neutral white colour when the light switch is initially turned on and this provides a good amount of brightness without being dazzling (as shown in the image attached). The only difficulty I had with these bulbs was getting them to update over the WiFi initially as it took a long time for the update to download and install and it failed a couple of times, but they work great now. I wish they were a bit cheaper (as is the case with all Philips Hue products) but I guess you get what you pay for, and the versatility provided by these bulbs is great. Highly recommended!

Like having a spa in my bathroom!

I was a bit worried that I’d need a Phillips hue bridge to get these going, but the reviews don’t lie! They do just work with Alexa over Bluetooth and with the Phillips Bluetooth app. Really pleased!!

No problem installing but like some of the other reviews have said the Hue lights are slightly thicker/wider than normal bulbs so may not be suitable for fittings where there is not much space around the light fitting.

    P.S. I have dimmable base.

    1. The bulbs are really lovely, easy to integrate and control along with the hue switch.

    2. Because I have dimmable switch, you have to turn it to brightest setting, otherwise the lightbulb will make buzzing sound( all of them will make buzzing sound).

    3. Even when I turned to the brightest setting on my original switch, 2 out of 6 bulbs still making buzzing sounds. But Amazon is nice to exchange them. I think they are defected products or make just Phillips is still in development?

Overall, if not the 2 out of 6 defect items, I’ll still give it a 5 stars, because of how easy they are when they are righ

If you want controllable lights then there’s no realistic competition to Philips’ Hue range.

These are the first GU10 Hue spots that I’ve bought and they are as easy to configure, as responsive and as pleasant to use as the many other Hue lights that I’ve previously bought.
It is straighforward to set them up with your phone (you do need a separate Hue Hub), and then connecting them to Alexa and Home Assistant is extremely easy.
I’ve grouped them together under “roof” so that I can tell Alexa to “turn roof on” or “set roof to 30”, and they are part of the “downstairs” group when I tell Alexa to execute the “goodnight” routine that turns off all the downstairs lights and locks the doors.
They are respond instantly to commands from Hue, Alexa or Home Assistant.
The *only* downtick is on being easy to install, where they are just as much of a pig to install as any other GU10. Thankfully, being LEDs, they will hopefully not need changed for 15 years!
    Recommended.

    Fantastic lights, very responsive

I needed a new pair of GU10 bulbs for my downlights in the kitchen and I was happy to find that the lights are now normal sized GU10 bulbs that will fit perfectly fine in the fitting for my lights. No need to start modifiying fixtures for these smart bulbs anymore.

Can’t say anything more than that they worked for me right away. it’s a benefit to have the QR code on the bulbs visible in case you need to scan them during set up.

I don’t normally write reviews, but I had to , as these bulbs was so easy to setup wit the Bluetooth app, and even easier with Alexa.
Just go through the steps on the app and it works straight away.
I was well impressed ,I was wondering if they was worth the extra money, but after installing them , they definitely are…

I’ve always come back to these, they are hands-down the best smart GU10 bulbs you can buy – at a price. If you’re not in a hurry, watch the price and buy them when they’re on sale.

Easy to set up via the Philips Hue app and very reliable via our Google Home.

My only gripe – and it’s the same with all smart bulbs – is that they could be a bit dimmer on 1% brightness.

I have a total of 11 items in my home, hue sync, gu10 bulbs and a couple of hubs. as well as various other brands of both wifi and zigbee (hue hub operates on zigbee protacol so as not to interfear with wifi in the home) Hue are expensive, so lets get that out of the way, they are probably the most expensive compared to other bulbs.

But and its a big one, they are a premium product and I have to say despite me trying the other brands I have yet to have one match them, hue has the smoothest transitions and the smoothest colour changes that I have come accross, especially on the zigbee platform. I would rather the bulbs above any brand because of this.

Light strips, the light strips are not the brighest (come on hue pull your finger out, more density of led lights please) the Ambient strips on the other hand are very bright.

Hubs, please do not read into the misleading posts about them, you only need a seperate hub if you are running a different entertainment zone (sync device in the home and want them on at the same time). for example I have 3 play bars behind my monitor and a syncbox and ambiant light strip on tv. if I want to sync I can on both, but not at the same time. Only in this sort of situation you need more than one hub.

One hue hub will cover your whole home even a 10 bedroom one as zigbee works on a link protocal. so if one bulb is too far from the hub its linked by the next bulb and the next bulb etc etc.

This is my one pet hate with some reviews as there is some times some miss leading info on them…. pleas note amazon you can pass my email to the guy who has 4 hubs in his home and ill guide him on how to set it up right as he must have 4 synced entertainment zones.

Expensive but so worth it. I’ve tried cheaper options and the quality of the colours just isnt there and the compatibilty of hue integration with many many other brands including asus and corsair mean I can control and sync this with my pc, which other cheaper brands do not do. Get the real thing from philips dont be fooled by false economy, I tried several cheaper brands trying to get the effect I was looking for and was highly disappointed with what I paid for. they are cheaper for a reason.

Warehouse deal on these hue GU10’s which were almost half price of the same item brand new. The Philips Hue packaging was ripped, bent and scratched, but I purchased these knowing full well that packaging was damaged. As for the product itself, these were fully intact and paired with the rest of my Hue setup on first attempt. I really can’t fault the Hue eco system. Yes they are a bit more expensive than other smart bulbs, but over the past few years I’ve found that they have worked flawlessly. And these GU10’s give me the right colour temp (warm white) I wanted in a bedroom. The only down side was integration with Alexa has been difficult as it’s not finding all the new GU10’s I’ve just added. I think this is because I’m using 2 hue hubs (2nd gen), but I’m checking forums and support pages to resolve this. It’s not a show stopper for me.

As I’ve thrown myself into the Hue environment, I’ve bought these in Colour, White Ambience and White. All have been bought when they have a significant reduction or Like New from the Warehouse, still cost a packet though. All have worked first time and linked with the Hub perfectly. Controlled through Apps and Alexa, this has been seamless. I did buy two GU10’s from elsewhere that were DOA and Philips exchanged them for working versions without quibble. The size of the bulb is the same as all other GU10’s if they have the Bluetooth symbol on the box. Highly Recommended!

Unlike the previous Hue GU10 design, these are a 1:1 match with halogen bulbs and so don’t stick out of recessed fittings.

As with all things from Philips hue this is another great bulb. It doesn’t offer the full couloir spectrum as it’s the warm white bulb but it does give you a good range of cool whites to warm whites and is very bright. It was very easy to add to my existing hue setup with the bridge and works perfectly with Alexa and my iPhone.

  25. UtaSillszbuej says:

Installed into my recessed bulb holders as the bulbs are the same size at the glass and same height as the halogens they replaced. Very happy about this. They are a very warm light so don’t look as bright as whiter bulbs but they are quite bright, they are dimmable. I first set them up with the hue app but then had to reset them using said app putting them back in pairing mode for set up with Alexa; so if you have Alexa/google assistant devices don’t bother with the hue app. Easy to set up with the Alexa app. I put both bulbs in the same group so I can turn both on at the same time and dim both to the same brightness with a single command, works great.

I’ve waited a long time for these bulbs to be released. I waited a while until I actually needed them since they aren’t cheap by any means. I use these bulbs in 3 downlighter sockets illuminating a painting (and wall) above my bed. As many people are aware, when they bulbs were originally released, they were extra large (long) due to the technology having to be crammed into a small bulb. This is the same reason why we are still waiting for ‘golf ball’ bulb Hues I imagine!

As my pictures show (and others), the difference between the sizes of the bulbs (old and new) is significant. This means that they sit flush in most fittings (when pointed down rather than tilted) as opposed to protruding outwards. They look is so much better, though admittedly they are more difficult to fit given that there’s less to hold onto!

For those new to these bulbs, or Hue in general, the price is high but you’re paying for quality and the bulbs last years. I still have two of the old ones installed so there’s 2 protruding and 1 flush. I would rid of them just for the aesthetic. Focusing on the new; they are quite heavy, well built bulbs – a far cry from the light, filament bulbs.

The range of colours is vast. if you can imagine a colour, with a bit of tinkering on the Hue app, you can get it. What’s more you can set and save scenes once you’ve found colours (or mixes of) to your liking. The bulbs are immediately detected via the Hue App and if you are using Alexa devices, you can easily add a the bulbs via there quickly and easily to be able to control via voice and / or routines. Mine turn on automatically in the evening and dim during a ‘Movie’ routine.

Great to finally get these. I’ve got one spare when the next one goes and eventually, I’ll have them all flush with my fittings. Hue bulbs can transform a home and set uplifting moods and aesthetics. These bulbs are no exception.

    Finally! The Small Version!

I bought these to add the three existing bulbs. These are a newer generation and are lower profile, which is an aesthetic improvement. Works seamlessly via several apps. Colours are bright and vivid. Only dropping a star as I think the price is still too high for bulbs.

Great for a sunrise alarm and dimming down at night. I’ve been sleeping better and waking up easier recently!

Another great thing is that it doesn’t need a plug or counter space, unlike my Philips light alarm.

Adding a hue hub adds extra stability (was 3/5, now 5/5) and adding the dimmer switch too lets the time of day decide which light setting to use.

I got this to complement the Philips Hue White Filament bulb that I recently fitted to a bedroom pendant lamp (which I got an electrician to replace a recessed ceiling spot with). The existing 7W GU10 spot in the other ceiling fitting was just too harsh and bright even though “warm white”, so this Hue Ambiance is a perfect replacement. Like many things on Amazon the price does seem to vary, so if you’re willing to be patient you can get a good deal!

I was pleased that by default it’s a very warm white but in any case the power-on default can be set using the app, so I can match it to the (fixed) colour of the Hue filament bulb, and set the colour and brightness etc. I can’t imagine setting it to “cool white” much (except perhaps when trying to find socks in the depths of the wardrobe!) but it would be great in a study or workroom.

I’m only using these two bulbs with the BT app at the moment, and the main downside (as I mentioned in my review of the Hue filament bulb) is that it can take a good 5 seconds or more to reconnect to the bulbs each time when you bring your phone within range and/or open the app, even if your phone’s blue-tooth is already on. Contrary to the suggestion in another review, once initially paired you don’t need to go close to pair again each time after power off – you just need to be in the same room, as you’d expect with most BT devices. I guess a hub would resolve the connection delay anyway, so maybe that’s next on the wish-list!

Incidentally, the app suggested firmware updates, which worked fine with this GU10 Ambiance, but hung when trying to update the Hue filament 🙁 After an initial panic wondering whether I’d bricked the bulb, and some Googling, as advised I force-closed the app then re-tried the update, and fortunately it worked fine the second time round.

This is my first smart bulb purchase, and I am pleased to have gone for it. Overall good purchase.

    Pros:
    – Easy to set up- connect your bulb to either a hub/bridge (which connects to your home network and allows you communicate with your smart bulb) or an Amazon echo device for voice control. Once I got my bulbs in the fixtures, my Alexa app automatically discovered the bulbs providing the ability to control the bulbs from the app or my Amazon echo (my Amazon echo was already connected to my home network and set up in the app). Once connected, assign the bulbs to rooms so Alexa knows which bulb to turn on or off when asked. This was easy to do!
    – Good integration with all of the major voice assistants (Google, Alexa etc.)- excellent feature which helps reduce cost as you don’t have to purchase the hub.

    Cons:
    – A bit pricey. The bulbs are (as expected) more expensive than standard /regular bulbs and even more so if you pair them with the hub, switch etc.
    – Still requires the bulbs turned on at the wall if you want to be able to control them remotely. If it is turned off at the wall, the bulbs can’t receive wireless signals.

Verdict- The Philips hue is a little more expensive than standard/regular bulbs, but if you want to make your existing bulbs smart without messing with the wiring in the house, then you may wish to take a look at the Philips hue with its wide range of smart bulbs.

The GU10s are very overpriced and not that bright or vibrant when it comes to colors. They can display millions of colors but most of the time you’ll pick blue or pink and can’t tell the different because the other million shades of blue available. Their vibrancy is weak for such a high price. For white light they are about as bright as a regular GU10.

I got these on a deal and have since gone with a cheaper brand that uses WiFi which are just as bright and have RGB too. They often worked better through Alexa than direct through my phone and Phillips app.

Once you install the app it gives you many different colours to choose from, it has basic colours like white or yellow toned light (super bright, enough to light up my whole room with one bulb) and super nice mood lighting. Every colours brightness can be adjusted so it can either be dark and moody or bright. Really impressed with how bright the normal colours are as most coloured lights are quite dim. 10/10 really, the extra money is worth i

These were used to replace pre-existing hue gu10’s.

Firstly, these new gu10’s do not match the output or colour temperature of the old ones. If you use these to replace a single failed old Hue gu10, you will notice it.

Secondly, the increase in output brightness over the old hue gu10’s will make you immediately want to replace them all anyway, they are really that much brighter. Be prepared for the cost!

Recommend this latest version of warm white only versions of the GU10 bulbs as they are much cheaper (so more practical for using en-mass), and higher brightness than the other versions.
