So far we do chicken in this, and I would buy it for this alone, as it does it perfectly. Everyone who has tried it (various sauces, seasonings) prefers how the chicken looks and tastes over other ways we have normally prepared it. Need to explore other food types now! Easy to clean, quick and looks good too! Oh have I mentioned it does Chicken to perfection!

My Dad is 86 and loves chips but has had, all his life, acid reflux. He now cooks chips, late at night and has no stomach problems what so ever. He even says they taste better than the chips he had in his teens – cooked in beef dripping!

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersExcellent no-frills air fryer. An updated, more compact version of the original model that we had going strong for a decade.

There is not much functionality to this fryer nor are there programming modes. But I’ve found that we don’t use those at all with a more sophisticated Philips fryer we have at our second home. We just fry chips and snacks. And if you stick to the timer, open up during the process to hustle everything up, you get delicious results. This fryer does what it says on the tin; fries our chips and snack in a convenient, less smell and more healthy manner – compared to oil based frying. Love it & highly recommend it.

This slightly more upscale, more expensive version of the basic model is straightforward but quite good. Is is a lot smaller on the outside than other models so requires less space to store. It only comes with a timer on top and an heat indicator light. The cord cannot the pushed in on the bottom but has to be rolled up on the back. Importantly, the tray can be partly disassembled and put in the dishwasher. Also, now a fan-shaped plate is included that will collect fat and crumbs, while the bottom pan can be more easily cleaned. So a number of the issues with the original model have been addressed.

Some more background; I honestly think we were Airfryer pioneers in back in 2011. And we have embraced the device since. So much that our original fryer has started to break down – I left the tray once fall out while transporting it to the kitchen top, causing the front to crack (this is something to be mindful of with most fryers). And I even put the gas hob on while the fryer stood there under the hood, causing its bottom to melt partially. The battered machine nevertheless kept operating perfectly, producing tasty chips once every 2 or 3 weeks.
What started to become an issue with our original model was the oil and crumbs being collected on the bottom of the inner pa. This piled up soo much that we could not remove it anymore. We’ve tried several times in the past but the shape of the bottom pan didn’t allow for a thorough cleaning. This in turn lead to extra smell and burned fat, triggering our smoke alarms. I couldn’t be bothered to try to clean it again, also because of the damage to the machine so we now bought a new model. And as said, this new model deals with this problem quite well.

    Happy frying
