I have a smaller version desk version and wanted something bigger for the hot days. Overall its a great device, throws out a lot of air, plus the humidifier helps reduce the stress of the heat. It will never cool a whole room like an air con unit would but very helpful to get through those hot days. The remote works wonderfully so you can sit down and set things until they are just right.

The water tank lets you drop in a couple of freezer packs (standard sizes) and will help cool things further. Just have few on rotation to help keep the water cool. Another thing you can do is wet the filter and then freeze it before you use the machine. This will give another boost of cool air.

Finally people complain the filter has gone manky but this is just bad usage. If you turn the device off and leave the filter wet then mould will start growing and smell after a while. Turn off the humidifier bit and let the fan blow dry the filter when you are done for 10-15 minutes or set the timer to 1 hour and it will turn off automatically. If its dried it should be fine!

This air cooler was recommended to me by a friend who bought it from Amazon last year. I needed it to use in my conservatory which gets very hot in the summer. I’ve found this coolerVERY effective. It really does cool the area much, much better tgan a fan. It oscillates well and is easy to use. I’m very happy with this purchase.

I was very sceptical about buying an air cooler over an air conditioner, but this Is great, you certainly feel the difference, different speeds or you can add water and the ice packs to cool down even further, so far impressed

General: it is really good, if you don’t have one, you need this!
Simply add water, and ice ( if you want to cool). Only negative is the fact that a paper filter is impossible to find/ replace. You will need to dry the filter if you use it all day long.
Noise level: it’s noisy but expected
Remote control: all buttons on the machine is controllable with the remote control.

I bought this during the terribly hot weather recently, as my bedroom fan was just not cooling me down sufficiently, and I was feeling quite ill sometimes in the daytime too. Now I have both this and my tower fan on most nights.
I gave this item four stars because it has a few downsides. If the weather isn’t extremely humid, and you fill the water tray and add the ice packs, the resulting air that comes out is definitely cooler than the surrounding air by a degree or two. If it is too humid I don’t think it really works, just adds to the humidity. However, It made my nights much more comfortable during that really hot spell. I took to filling the water bath and putting it in the fridge in the morning so the water was already cold when I inserted the ice packs – because two thin ice packs would quickly melt in room temperature water – therefore I think making them hardly worth using.
The first night I must not have put enough water in because it ran out of water at 5 a.m. and then started emitting some loud beeping noises, which woke me up, and I had to manually switch off the humidifier function.
That didn’t happen again but filling up, emptying, freezing, and generally faffing around with the water bath everyday was a nuisance, and now that the weather has cooled down I’m only using it as a fan so I don’t bother filling it with water at all and I keep the humidifier function switched off – which is fine. The fan itself is quite loud. It doesn’t bother me too much because I am hard of hearing and and I find it like soothing background noise, but I imagine it would bother some people.
It is also quite low to the ground if you’re looking to use it in bed. For me it’s not really a problem, as I have a wooden ottoman at the base of the bed, so I simply stand it on there. It has castors so if you were using it in a different room you could wheel it around easily enough, but I found it too heavy to carry up and down stairs each day, so I left it in the bedroom. I also stuck electrical tape over the function lights which were horribly bright, and lit up the room at night. There seems to be no option to switch them off.
All that being said, if you can’t afford to shell out for an actual air conditioner – which I certainly couldn’t – this fan does help, and does cool the air down as it blows it on you.

Does a good job of cooling the air keeps room cool. Using the humidifier action works like air conditioner only a bit noisier. It’s not as quiet as I’d hoped but you get use to the noise through the night. All in all a good machine. I’ve recommended it to friends who seem keen.

We were recommended this air cooler and we are mostly pleased with it. It could be a bit quieter but it does cool the air reasonably well. You have to accept that it’s not air conditioning but it’s made our lounge comfortable even on the hottest days and nights.

Bought this to cope with summer heat in a former attic room.
Whilst it’s not a full air conditioning system, it does achieve a good level of cooling to aid sleeping on warm/hot summer nights. The unit is a little noisy, but it has a quieter mode for nights and has a basic timer too
    Would recommend

  38. Kelly M says:

If you bear in mind this is a cooler fan and not air conditioning it works fine. I have a fairly small home office in a loft conversion and wanted something for the recent hot weather. I used the supplied ice packs a couple of times but found keeping a 2 litre bottle of tap water in my small fridge was enough to give me almost a whole day of comfortable cool air. Please note you need to hit the “Humidity” button to feel the benefit. I only have it on the lowest fan setting and it’s not too noisy. I wouldn’t want to sleep with it on. The only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is that the (manual) movable vents don’t point far enough up so if you’re sitting at a desk the cool air barely goes above waist height. The remote control is a nice touch but as you can’t really sit too far away from it without loosing the cool air it seems wasted. Ideal for small areas but it wouldn’t cool a large room.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersIt does what it says on the tin! I bought this as I needed something to reduce the room temperature in a child’s room in hot weather. I didn’t want a pipe out a large open window at night with young children who like climbing to look out window. It does lower the room temperature by 4-5 degrees with a blind lowered to cut out afternoon sun. I’ve found it’s more effective if you have the room door open or a small window open a crack and the room temperature will not rocket. Usually in hot weather our childs room temperature is 30+deg but this year it’s been 25-26 degrees. I can’t say how effective it would be in larger rooms but it’s pretty good in a small bedroom. It’s certainly not as good at reducing room temperature as an air conditioning unit but it is better than a normal fan. I put in ice packs as well as ice into water. It lasts 12+ hours on medium speed setting which is enough until I get home from work. It’s not quiet by any means but it’s not annoying either. The only flaw for me are how bright the lights are on the display…there is no option to dim or turn off lights. It’s worth the money if your limited on space as it’s fairly compact and if you’re not keen on windows open at night.

Bought this for my baby to sleep. It is a great portable air cooler. It is just noisy as a fan. Just like fan you have to put it on top of a table to get the cool air on to your face while sleeping because my bed is too tall. Cooling is excellent just with water, for extra chill you can use the ice pack given. Really helpful to for a peaceful sleep and from over heating.
    Remote is good.
You can control the hourly setting
There are 3 levels for the fan
There are 3 modes for fan (night, day ,etc)

Golden Review Award: 72 From Our UsersI only write reviews for really bad products, good products or products I think deserve a mention. I was looking for an item that would be good to keep my 85 year old parents cool in the warm weather we’re having. They have a traditional fan but these either blast your head off or at best waft and distribute the warm air already in the room. The blast always hurt my eyes over time. So I thought I’d look for a better alternative. An air conditioner was out of the question for 2 reasons 1. The fitting and 2. Running costs. So the option I chose was an air cooler. This one caught my eye because it looked stylish and was a well known name. Had it about 3 weeks and the weather outside has been in the 20’s c / 80f. I’m quite impressed with this air cooler. It’s not an air conditioning unit so don’t expect a cold room with what you get from an air conditioner. First of all what you get is the air cooler unit a remote control 2 cooler blocks you can freeze in your freezer instruction manual and box. The idea of a air cooler is to cool the air in the room with cool water don’t worry it doesn’t blow water out but the cool water pumps around inside and it’s this cool water that helps the air being blown to be chilled unlike a traditional fan that only blows the warm air through its blades into the room. Air coolers also have a filter in the back that filters out any dust or bits so what comes out of the front is clean air free of dust or dirt particals in the air/room. There is a box in the back of the unit that can be removed to enable you to take it to the sink to be filled with cold water ice and the cooler blocks supplied. Alternatively just use water but the colder you make the water the cooler the effect will be. The unit hold 5 litres. When inserting the water container back into the back of the unit ensure the suction unit is up out of the way otherwise you will find the water container won’t slide in. If its in the way slide the water container in until it stops pull out slightly poke your finger in and push the suction unit up whilst pushing the water container in. When the container is fully in you will hear a click. When it’s operating the water is pumped around the unit and you will hear a slight waterfall sound, this is normal. The fan in my opinion actually makes less noise than a traditional fan. If the water runs out the unit automatically carries on working with fan only and stops sucking/pumping. It also has programmable timer the option to turn on/off the water system option to turn on/off oscillator which distributes air flow left and right. It also has programmable night mode that automatically fluctuates air flow /distribution for a more relaxed feel. The unit is on wheels which is very helpful. The power cord could be longer but that’s my opinion and of course you could use an extension lead. It’s ideal for keeping cool when your upto 15 feet away. If you have a bigger room move the unit closer to you or use 2 units. I bought this for my parents but love it so much bought myself one.

Only thing:How can I order replacement filters please?
It seems one of the most important parts of this machine is the filter itself:if the filter breaks especially during cleaning of it, the whole machine cannot function effectively I assess purifying/dehumidifying/humidifying the air.
My filter has split down the middle but until I can know how/where to buy a replacement filter I am forced to continue using this broken filter.

The product is good, not very noisy as I expect. My living room has only one balcony door with no window, although an portable a/c may be cooler, it is hesitate and ugly to seal the door and put a pump out. Also there is too much work to move the a/c between bedroom and living room after the seal is set. So I decided to buy this cooler instead. There are 2 ice packs come with the cooler but in the hot summer time you will need both at once. And the good thing is the water tank can fit any other ice pack I have at home. The only down side is once you push out the water tank, fill the water and the ice pack, sometimes it is hard to put the water tank back as when you push it back in. But still I recommend this product.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersAs an air cooler, this machine works fine although it is somewhat small for a standard air cooler.

( It is not and does not cool like an air conditioner and is unlikely to cool an entire smallish room down more than 1-2 degrees.
An air conditioner requires a vent hose hole through your wall/door. )

An air cooler like this one blows air through water so the colder the water, the better it works.
I kept two empty milk cartons of water in the fridge and alternated them. You could also use ice cubes to cool the water.
I found It works best l when placed close to you and pointing at you.
It’s also quite light and portable.
I found it useful during the recent heatwave to carry it into the bedroom and point it at the bed about three feet away

I’m not sorry I bought it. I’ve had air coolers before and this one works as well as those-although on the small side.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFirstly-why are there 2018 reviews and pictures for obviously a different product..? It’s an impressive looking unit, but the instructions were quite unclear. I use the remote control for ease when turning on and off when in bed. Getting the battery into the remote was a bit of a challenge for me but I did eventually manage it. I do find it to be noisy in that if you run it on what appears to be night mode it does this annoying thing where it pauses / turns on and off every 20 seconds or so (it would be better if it ran at a constant level) the pump sometimes makes a noise during that process as well if you’re running the humidifier function at the same time. I think this unit would work well in a living area, but I am struggling to have this operating in a bedroom whilst trying to sleep.
