I’ve been using these with my hot tub and so far they have been great, they are very similar to other test strips I’ve used in the past and have more info than the last set I used.
I can’t comment on accuracy in a scientific aspect, but when used side-by-side with other test strips I own they provide the same/similar results.
This is a great set of 100 water test strips that test for a nice variety of parameters that can be signs of problems to treat. So firstly one thing I really like about this set is that it included a test tube to collect a sample into, this is really nice to help not add any unneeded chemicals to the water. Using the tests is nice and easy, simply collect your sample, dip in the strip and then hold it flat to avoid them seeping into each other and then you can use the chart on the side of the bottle to easily check the results.
The test seem accurate and I’ve relied on this style of test for so long that I’m pretty sure the manufacturing process is so standardised now that they are all pretty accurate. The the set is a really good value, getting the test tube is great, and you get a whopping 100 test strips, which means if you use one every two weeks they will last around 4 years which will probably be beyond the expiry date so if you have multiple pools to test then this is a great option or else you might need to use them after the expiry date.
These are SO much easier to read than most strips we’ve tried especially due to them not having all the same/not much difference in the color change for low to high. I really like how with these there is the color difference to be able to tell better. I will definitely be purchasing these again!!
Owning a hot tub you regularly need to test the water quality and add chemicals to keep levels of chlorine and acidity in check.
These strips are perfect as they test for all 7 water requirements for safe water to bathe in. From each reading you add chemicals to find a good balance. Having owned the hot tub for many years I know from experience how much chemicals to add and no longer retest but ideally until you reach that stage you would add chemicals and retest then add more and retest so you could use quite a few testing strips to get your water levels correct.
The container holding the test strips has the gauges on the side so you can throw away the box. There is also a test tube that can be used to assist with making the initial reading but not required for a hot tub.
Highly recommended
These are well designed pool, spa and hot tub use. Dip it in the water for 2s, then hold horizintally for 15s then read by compaing the test square to the chart for each on the test strip bottle. Each strip tests for: PH, Total Chlorine, Free Chlorine, Total Alkalinity, Cyanuric Acid, Total Hardness, and Bromine. I put the test stip after dip on to a horizontal towel to keep it level. Safe to dispose of via normal general waste. 100 test strips in a resealable bottle to keep them dry and safe, so take out a test strip and put the lid back tight as swiftly as possible. I found all 7 scales easy to read and very happy with the product. I used the maintenance guide on my training pool to then know what is safe ranges for that pool and how using the specified pool products what to do to restore safe limits. Fantastic test strips and highly recommended, Andrew.
These seem to be accurate readings vs my well known branded ones.
The bottle keeps them secure and dry.
The chart is hard to follow as the colours don’t fully match, so you’ll need to use some discretion,
Not a bad price for 100, good enough to keep the chemical levels safe.
Great pool test strips, works perfectly, is very accurate, easy to use and value for money.
100% recommended
These strips are ok, they do the trick but one annoying thing for me is that they’ve not made the strips match up with the recommended levels on the back. Where the squares are spread more apart you can’t just compare colours easily without moving the strip up constantly. It’s an incredibly small thing to be frustrated about, but it would just be so convenient if they all matched like every other pot I’ve tried.
Otherwise, there are a good amount in the pack and the pack comes with a little glass tube which may be more convenient for some.
easy to use and a must for spa users and owners
These are easy to use and understand. Great value compared to others.
Those strips are really easy to use, and fairly accurate, they won’t work on a hot-tub but work perfectly with a pool. The box contains enough to go on for few months
I Regularly use test strips for my hot tub to check its levels. These are 7 in 1 but I only really check the chlorine levels, ph and alkalinity.
They come in a small tub and sealed. Very easy to use and read with the colour reading chart on the side of the tub. Good value for 100 pcs.
This is a handy and well priced set of water testing strips for swimming pools and hot tubs. They are easy to use and just compare your strip with the colours on the bottle to get the result of the pH test.
I have used this brand before but managed to drop the pack in the pool last summer.
Now I have a second bottle I will be a bit more careful.
They always provide good information on the condition of the pool and the chemicals but obviously living in the UK our pool isn’t up just yet.
Spa hot tub or pool test strips easy to use easy instructions, simple and good value test strips that give accurate test results
Worked really well. They detected chlorine which is what I wanted but also pH and water hardness which you need to keep on top of when using chemicals in the spa. The strips are easy to use. Dip in the water and reference the colours to the chart on the tub. Works well.
These strips are very accurate and I compared the results to the strips I already use for my hot tub.
These strips arrive in a well made sealed box inside a big plastic bottle which was hygienically sealed. What I liked was inside that was a moisture trapper packet just incase you store your strips outside in a shed. You also get a water sample tube if you wish to use that instead of dipping directly into the water.
They are easy to use. Dip in for 2 seconds. There is a longer wait time with these compared to the 3 reading strips of 15 seconds. Now it tells you to hold horizontally and that is imperative as the colours easily drip down. Do not shake it for that reason too. Just lay flat on a surface straight away and wait.
If you’re used to the 3 reading strips Chlorine, PH and alkaline only it takes a moment to get used to the different colours as chlorine is usually purple but with this it’s pink. Alkaline is still green and PH is still orange.
I liked having the bromine reading as that tells you the quality of your water and whether it needs changing.
The cyanuric acid result I think is more for pools than hot tubs as that is put into a pool to help chlorine last longer.
I’m keeping the box as I found the chart on that easier to match the test strip up to compare results. The chart on the bottle, because it is curved, means you have to keep rolling the bottle back and forth until you have learnt all 7 readings and in the right order. The colours are easy to match though. I’ve photographed the results next to the box and bottle to show you.
The hardness result was accurate as I live in a hard water area but it was interesting to know that the water in the tub wasn’t too “hard” as this causes issues with the pump scaling over and you don’t want the dreaded O2 error code.
Joygain is a new company registered in the UK but Chinese ownership. I think the product works very well and my tests have shown it’s accurate. It’s a little expensive at 12.99 at the time of this review but reliable. So I’m happy to recommend and I hope my photos have helped
These are OK but they are a bit vague as to some of the results. For example i find the PH level often doesn’t resemble any of the levels I’m looking at so have no idea where I am on the scale. That’s not good as PH is very important and the same goes for Chlorine. It’s not clear sometimes whether i need more or not.
I hadn’t realised how bad my eyesight had got til I got these test strips for the pool.
Having had inconsistent results with the last test strips, where pH was difficult to judge, I thought I’d try these, a few days after dumping lots of dry acid and chlorine into the pool.
These strips are used in the same way, dip in the water for a second or so, making sure all the test pads are immersed and take them out, shaking off excess water.
After a few seconds I tried to compare the strip colours with the ones on the packaging, the little squares are really small and I couldn’t read whatever numbers are under the charts.
I managed to see that the chemical levels in the pool water are in the ‘ok’ range on the chart, so I guess they work – I confirmed this a few times that day and the results are consistent.
You get 100 test strips, so about 1.3p per test, which is good value; just make sure you have good light when looking up the colours on the box.
These test strips come in a pack of 100, therefore for the current cost they are good value for money. I tend to always buy a branded set of test strips, of which you normally get 50 in a pack. The cost per test for these strips is around 15% cheaper, or around 2p cheaper per test – so not huge but it all adds up when you are testing everyday.
We have a spa in our garden which we need to keep on top of the maintenance. Part of this general maintenance is the safety of the water, so test strips are a must to test for Chlorine and Alkalinity as well as PH. If you PH is balanced well then you will use less chemicals, which means a better saving! These strips test for 7 different elements, i tend to only pay attention to 3 of those but the others are also useful, especially if you have a pool. Tests show PH, Total Chlorine, Free Chlorine, Total Alkalinity, Cyanuric Acid, Total Hardness, Bromine.
The accuracy of these tests appears to be good – i did a direct test against one of my other strips that i purchased and the results were the same.
One thing i did really like about these test strips is that they have a very decent expiry date – Feb 24 was what was printed on my box, compared to my other tests strips this is excellent as normally they only last 6-7 months before they have to be discarded.
Overall i would recommend these strips.
I hope that you found my review helpful.
They work as they should but they’re not the easiest to read. I found it difficult to tell how much chlorine was showing and had to use a few strips to get it right.
These work very well. I particularly like the fact that they give a reading in 15s across a wide range of parameters. The pH indication matches that of an electronic pH meter that I used for comparison, and the other measurements appear to be in line with those from big-name brands’ testing kits.
The only minor issue that I’ve noticed is a tendency for the “total alkalinity” square’s dye to bleed slightly to either side, but it doesn’t interfere with functionality at all.
Recommended.
These hot tub strips are brilliant, I love how they’re 7 in 1, so you get a lot more information than regular ones. They are easy to use and help me to keep my hot tub clean!
