– Design pulito, in stile Razer
It’s a present for my grandson for Christmas so I don’t know all the above questions
Very good gaming pad battery last forever. the button layout is good and additional buttons are a massive help .
Setting up is easy just download the app takes 2 min and you ready to go.
I’ve been using the Raiju Tournament for 3 months now and can honestly say I have nothing to complain about.
It came with the latest firmware installed.
It took a couple of weeks to get used to it as it is ergonomically very different to a PS4 controller.
I much prefer the size of this as the PS4 controller was a bit small for my hands and I much prefer the stick layout of this.
The buttons are a joy to press. The m back and top buttons are extremely useful in pretty much every game I’ve played. For things like battlefield and cod they work amazingly well.
I haven’t had a single problem with this controller. I believe all the problems people were having was with the old firmware. It’s a beautiful controller to hold and use.
This controller has changed the way I play my PS4. Mapping the face buttons to the four additional back buttons means I can use the face buttons without taking my thumb off the right analogue stick. Revolutionary for first/third person games. But adding to that the build quality is amazing, much more tactile materials than the standard pad, much better battery life, the main PS button has a proper “click” to it, the case and usb lead are top quality, and as cheesy as it is, I love the lights on it. Will definitely be getting another one whenever I’m able to get a PS5.
I purchased mine from Razer directly and I’m pretty a die hard Razer user, I’m a big fan of their headsets and the charching cables are fantastic (although it may be time to switch to USB C). I thought I’d give a Razer controller a go and I have found it is pretty good. They didn’t lie with the Battery life, can’t remember how long it claims to last exactly but I’ve used it with one charge and played 3 days in a row for about 6-8 hours a day, the switchable joysticks and D-Pad make my experience better depending on what I’m playing, the paddles at the rear are fantastic, especially for racing games and FPS games. I think it’s really comfortable to hold, feels slightly bigger than a standard Xbox 1 controller, and obviously is much bigger than the conventional Dual shock controller which is better if you’ve got big gorilla hands like me. I tend not to use the additional front buttons because they feel a bit out of place and I feel like they defeat their own purpose of speeding up actions, but that’s only my opinion. The app that you use to customise the buttons and the Chroma is easy to use, however I have found it switches presets on its own sometimes and have had it reset my preset before. Personally I would say that using this controller wired is better because it seems to have less latency and less issues, such as the joystick drifting even if you don’t touch it every now and again. Overall I gave it 4 stars, because while it is a fantastic product when it works properly, it does have its faults. I’ve tried to be as unbiased as possible in my review, hopefully this helps.
I like the fact that this is customisable, and came with a hard carrying case that contains neat compartments for the extra button tops and the controller.
Setting up was easy, just connected straight to the PS4 wirelessly with no hassle. You can also plug it in directly with the USB cable. The mobile application was easy to use and allows you to configure the keys and the colours the touch pad cycles through.
This is a really nice controller to use. The keys are really responsive, and it’s especially good when used wired. Wirelessly there was no lag and the connection is always rock solid. It’s well made and solid, and certainly worth the premium price. I prefer the thumb-pads with the ‘raised’ surfaces as opposed to the smooth ones. All the keys are really responsive, which I also like.
It’s particularly good when playing Fortnite!
Pros
– hefty weight
– responsive keys with good feedback
– textures thumb pads
– configurable via a good mobile application
– good bluetooth connection
– can be used wired/wirelessly (And also has a PC mode.)
Great controller well worth the money I have had it for a while now and it’s still going strong I have no idea what the negative reviews are about but I have not come across any faults like this weird stick drift people mention or anything else.
Remapping all the buttons it’s great and useful and it also feels great when it’s in your hand and the battery life is definitely better then the standard PS4 controller.
If you need the extra edge and play a wide range of games then I honestly think this pad is worth the money!!
Had this a year now and love it, ive had no issues at all. I got it black friday for 90 and for that price its a steal
It’s a great controller. Comfortable and easy. If the original Xbox controllers hurt your fingers when pushing the triggers like me, then this should be much more comfortable.
Had the controller for a few months now and have loved using it since day one.
I was considering a Scuf but read a lot about how they are unreliable as they are mods of dualshock controllers instead of built bottom up like the Raiju. I’d even argue the controller feels a lot better than a dualshock despite being Xbox-esque. Many of the buttons have a satisfying “clicky” feel, similar to the click of a mouse.
It’s easy to plug and play within 10 mins of the package arriving as all you have to do is download the app on your phone to change the button mapping, whereas with a Scuf requires you to remap using a magnet on the back of the controller whilst pressing various buttons and paddles. It is also half the price of a Scuf.
The only issues I’ve had:
1) having to play with the controller constantly plugged in to get the best out of it, but this is the same for most controllers anyway.
2) Thumbsticks are a little short, but I’ve been able to use grips to extend them.
As a gamer girl it’s a hard way to get used to holding it because I’ve got quite small hands but the best controller you could probably get and it contains lots of extra options if you’re into pro gaming! Highly recommend
This is a pretty great controller. I was pretty iffy about getting one when I looked at reviews, but then I looked at reviews if similar modular pro controllers and they were all the same, so I just bit the bullet and grabbed one. Thank god I did.
The controller is comfy to hold and feels really good in your hand. All of the buttons make the same *click* as a mouse would which feels like less pressure needs applied when your playing games. The back modular buttons are my favourite, if remapped them to L1 and R1 respectively, you would believe the difference it makes not having to lift your fingers up, instead is a little tap next to the triggers.
I play the controller wired all the time so I cant comment on its wireless.
The App can be frustrating at first but once you get the hang of it it’s easierthan going into a pc to fiddle about with the controller like other modulers have you do.
As the title suggests, I am now spoiled, I couldn’t go back to a normal controller. I love this thing.
Good controller and imprvedy gameplay on the PS4. Problem is I use it wired only as the latency is slightly high on wireless for FPS type games. Connection to the app is also not consistent on my android phone and I have to re-pair the controller numerous times. Connection to PS4 is ok but sometimes I get input delay which I why I use the wired connection. The wire that comes with the controller is quite long and the connection is sturdy.
My first PS4 controller that came with the PS4 pro lasted around a year and some change, then stick drift started creeping in, and it got so bad i had to go buy a new one.
The new one i got from a high street store, full price of course, and within a week stick drift had not only crept in, but was as bad as the stick drift had got at the end on the old PS4 controller did.
So insatead of giving PS4 controllers a third chance, i decided to just stump up for this controller and so far so good.
I got it on 20th April 2020 and already lasted way longer than the second PS4 controller did.
The only thing i noticed about this, is that sometimes it will become unresponsive, even though it’s connected via cable all the time. It’s easy to fix it by either wiggling the sitcks or cycling the plug.
This is a superior controller to the scuff any day of the week when it has no issues and I was lucky mine was perfect. The ability to change out the d-pad and the sticks is an added bonus for different game genres and should suit everyone except for kids as it wouldn’t suit people with small hands.
Best controller I have ever used, well worth the money, back buttons take a little getting used too but once you adjust feel like they’ve always been there, I’ve even been able to bonk the misses and play sekiro one handed at the same time thanks to these buttons. Mind-blowing.
My opinion based on usage over two months on Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
Good Points:
Buttons are clicky and responsive
Analogue sticks are smooth, the tops are grippy and are at a decent height
R2 and L2 shoulder buttons have mechanical switches to shorten the compression distance
Underside triggers M3 and M4 are huge and easy to locate and press
Good weight to it
Fits well in hand (had to adjust my grip as it was uncomfortable for me originally when I used my index fingers for R1 and L1 however, I’ve switched to using them on R2 and L2 and it is comfortable to use (won’t be an issue if you have long fingers.)
Shoulder buttons are angled outwards
Not So Good points:
If you have smaller hands then this shouldn’t be even worth considering
The M1 and M2 triggers next to the regular shoulder buttons are accessible but you will need to slightly move your trigger fingers to press (not such a big issue in most cases)
Adjusting some settings and trigger maps with the mobile device app after the first time is annoying as it struggles to locate the controller
Great controller for PS4 users who like an asymmetric layout.
Would recommend if you have a PS4 and want an Xbox controller experience for shooters. You should update the firmware to the latest as this is meant to resolve any drift issues a lot of earlier reviews have raised. I did not experience this as I updated the controller when it arrived. I purchased as used but in Good condition from Amazon so got a great deal on the price. Would not recommend at full price though (over 100) unless you really want a premium Asymmetric controller as the Nacon alternative comes with a massive USB dongle which very inconvenient (and why I sold mine). The Razer mecha-tactile button switches also feel great. Unless urgent, maybe wait to see what new comes out for PS5!
I have read some bad reviews for this product but with latest firmware it is perfect. Used it every day for over a month and could not go back to standard controller or scuf. Build quality is superior, smooth analog sticks with nice tension really improves fps accuracy and those face buttons mwah. Also the back buttons are perfect for ducking and jumping plus the interchangeable d-pad made pulling off combos in mortal kombat much easier. Basically I love this controller you really do get what you pay here.
This control is s perfect that you can’t imagine. It feels great on your hands, so ergonomic. And the response in Bluetooth is very fast. I’ m from Brazil and here we don’t have this model, so i m glad that i have imported from amazon uk.
The only problem I have with the controller is that if I want to use headphones with it it needs to be wired to the ps4. Battery life is amazing compared to the dualshock 4. The buttons and triggers feel super satisfying to use. Overall happy with the controlle
My grand daughter is a gamer she assures me this controller is the bes
So this has been my most expensive purchase for a controller however I absolutely love it. Bit on the heavy side, which can lead to the back buttons being pressed as nowhere else to put fingers when in hands, that may not affect anyone else though. Battery is great. The fact that I can connect to phone and update buttons and other things is awesome. My only gripe is it has to be plugged in to use a headset.
Razer is known for producing top- quality gaming equipment, and this controller certainly is of a high quality.
It is very comfortable to hold, particularly for longer gaming sessions. This however is countered by its not amazing battery life, which in practise was around 4 hours – long enough for me, but not my brother, who games for hours on end. This was significantly less that my xbox one standard controller.
Aesthetically, the controller looks great. Standing out from regular console controllers, having its own unique razer style with dark body and contrasting rainbow highlights.
My only drawback is the price. For the cost of it, you could easily buy three or four standard controllers or possible two higher end controllers I.e. Xbox elite controller. It certainly is a drawback of this product.
For a pro gamer, or a gamer who fancies themselves as a pro gamer, it is potentially a worth while investment – provided they have sufficient charging capacity. For a more casual gamer, perhaps not.
Honesty had no issues with this controller, unlike other reviews claim. It comes well packaged and in a very smooth carry case with interchangeable thumbsticks and a D-pad depending on what style of game you are playing. The companion app is great for customising your macro buttons and chroma settings. Great product!
Am a native Xbox user, recently switched to PS4 couldn’t get to grips with the controller. This is an exact match for a Xbox elite controller – good buy
Bought this for my son for Christmas – amazing build quality, used daily, the software on the phone works well. It’s expensive yes but a nice little treat for a gamer!
Gave this to my daughter, she likes the colour and once installed she found it very easy to use but the pairing with the PlayStation took some time and did become quite frustrating once solved she does say it’s a good controlle
Fantastic pad. Feels great. Only problem is it needs to be connected if you want head set on.
It CAN be used without a head set, and not plugged in… But… It lags to death!!
Basically put… It needs to be plugged in at all times. It’s my first ‘pro’ controller so I can’t compare to any others.
Waited a while to write a review. Only 2 main flaws with the controller. The main one being that if you have it in wireless mode you wont be able to use your headphones. I didn’t know that before I brought it. And that the extra button layout where the R1 AND R2 are sometimes gets in the way or I accidentally press. Other than that it’s a great controller. Feels nice and heavy and good build quality.
Was echt dumm ist. Selbst mit ausgeschalteter Leuchte.
I have had no issues with the controller I received, we love it! Really nice build and very comfortable to hold and use. Not a massive fan of the colour but I know some will love that too. Overall really enhances my gaming experience!
I bought this for an improved and better gaming experience for first person shooter games. With the standard Dual Shock 4’s button layout and the number of buttons or lack of means that you have to take your right thumb off the control stick to press any of the 4 buttons.
With the 4 extra assignable buttons on the Raiju means that your thumbs stay on the sticks so that you can perform complex moves such simultaneously jumping and turning whilst firing or reloading or changing weapons. This can grant you an edge in PVP aswell as PVE scenarios.
Prior to purchasing I was aware of the drift issue that people have had with this controller which I have not experienced. This controller came with the latest 1.05 firmware update pre-installed which is good news although relatively easy to update. It has 4 pre-set configurations for different types of game play which are easily switchable by a specific button, these are customisable using the phone app if needed.
The controller has a high quality feel to it the buttons have great feel, it has a more grip than a DS4 especially when gameplay gets hectic and your hands begin to sweat. It is bigger/bulkier and heavier than the DS4 and rightly so to have the functionality, once you get use to using the extra buttons and improvement in gameplay it becomes less noticeable.
Very IMPORTANT note, to be able to use a headset the controller can’t be used in wireless mode. You have to use the Supplied Micro USB cable and set the controller to USB mode. I have noticed that this is a custom made cable as a regular micro usb cable does not fit due to the recess for the plug and more importantly the offset position of the plug in comparison to a standard one.
The feel of the controller is great, the functionality is excellent, importantly for me gameplay has improved. With the current price this is the best controller in terms of function and quality.
Highly recommended.
It’s a very nice controller, very ergonomic and comfortable to hold and makes actions in some games much quicker, the one gripe I have with it is that when it is in wireless mode you cannot use the audio jack on the controller for a wired headset which is odd to me as a regular dual shock 4 has the full wireless functionality.
If you want to use party chat on ps4 then it will have to be a USB connection, but you still have freedom with all the buttons and paddles with it being Bluetooth. But other than that, if you want tactical accuracy this is your weapon!
My replacement for the original Raiju which lasted 2 years of heavy gaming. Works perfectly in wired mode. There is very slight lag in Bluetooth. Expensive but overall worth the money as quality and longevity are excellent.
Firmware update ;already shipped with this) seems to have fixed the reported drif
First of all, I’d like to say I tried a fully modified Scuf Controller first and was happy with it (till it broke) and upon replacing it with the Raiju Ultimate I realised just how poor the Scuf build was in relation. The Raiju’s build quality is simply stunning, from the magnetically locating sticks and D-pad, under triggers and two extra front buttons to the side off the L1/2, R1/2 buttons which can be extremely useful additions and intuitive to press. Even the case it comes with is a nice touch with slots for the interchangeable sticks and alternate D-pad. The only thing they could have done to improve this would have been a hole through the front at the charging port to make it possible to charge the controller while in it’s case, but hey, nothing’s perfect. The triggers locks are spot on with a simple sliding switch to enable/disable the locks either mid play or on game changes without any fuss or messing around. Also for those of you who play Destiny, with the trigger locks turned on for instant aiming and/or firing at the slightest touch, the Sparrow still travels at full speed and breaks for corners unlike on the Scuf controller. The Raiju app makes tailoring the button layout incredibly easy and the different saveable layout profiles for different games is a great idea. As for the reported issues of lag, random veering etc that also had me concerned before purchasing, I have seen absolutely no evidence of this at all and have found the controller very responsive and accurate at all times and I’ve already spent hundreds of hours on Destiny 2 since I bought the controller. As per Razers instruction’s I did update the Raiju firmware to version 1.05 immediately upon it’s arrival as this was very important to eliminate any known issue’s.
Now for the BAD!!! I did say it was flawed in the title. I use the controller wireless unless on charge and half the time when I turn my PS4 Pro on using the Raiju it loses the connection and the controller turns off. It’s a simple fix, I use my original sony controller to forget the Raiju from the list of bluetooth devices then put the Raiju into pairing mode and select the Raiju from the newly refreshed bluetooth list and it reconnects whilst turning off the sony one and from then is fine again for a few days of playing till it happens again. As you can imagine, it is incredibly frustrating to have to do this on what is pretty much one of, if not THE premiere PS4 controller out there with a price tag to match. I think when using a wired connection this doesn’t happen but personally, I wanted a wireless controller because I don’t want a cable between me and the PS4 having kids, pets and yes, a wife, who insists on passing in front of me every 5 minutes and then acts like tripping or almost ripping the controller from my hand or worse, the cable from the PS4 is somehow MY fault for having a cable across the floor.
Overall, a beautifully built and ingenious controller that’s easy to setup and change for different games, works great but can be infuriating to use via bluetooth, though I’m prepared to put up with that for the benefit’s it brings. I’d definitely buy another one.
Nice and clicky… companion app works well. Takes some getting used to the placement of the extra buttons at the back and the top as expected.
eally nice bit of kit, my KDR has never been so good… only thing i would like to see is two of each additional tops for the sticks, the controller is a little bigger than a PS4 controller and a little heavier but that suits me as i have big hands, the extra buttons, being assignable, is a god send, feels solid and well made, positive clicks from the buttons feel good, I can highly recommend the Raiju Ultimate, worth the money.
Absolutely fantastic so much better than the ps4 controller second one we bought as the hubby needed one after trying our sons
The controller is amazing. But they need to address a few things. It’s awkward to update the firmware, something you have to do, unless you have access to a windows pc. As a Mac household, this is a pain.
Virtual machines didn’t work right and brick the controller, resetting it fixes this but still needs updating.
The Bluetooth connection occasionally gets interference from something else, I’m yet to figure out what. The aiming stutters and sticks randomly.
Wired it is flawless.
This version unlike the previous has no audio controls on the controller, the mic input from standard headphones is quite poor.
Great controller from what I can tell it looks like they have fixed the issue the 2018 model had mine shipped with the 1.05 update already installed the only thing I dislike is that you need a wired connection to use headphone jack overall though its a good improvement to the original raiju
Best controller I have ever used !
Far surpasses the Nacon Pro and Scuff
Love the rgb lighting, it’s a little heavy and takes a while get used to the layout but when you do, it’s a different gaming experience !!
For some reason
When I unplug to play via Bluetooth it only stays charged for 20 minutes and it dies which sucks other than that 10/10
I am not involved with gaming but I got this controller from my daughter.
She likes it more than the original PS4 because apparently there are more accessible buttons to perform moves not available with standard controllers. It is also pink and that for a girl is a bonus.
it is expensive but seems to be well made and the plastic seems to be ABS which does not shatter when falls onto the floor. time will tell if it is worth it’s price.
Excellent battery life durable and good quality components makes for a good combination – the added bonus of being used for a PC makes it even more convenient
I think durability will determine whether the price is worth it – but Razer have a good reputatio
Son loves it, they sent Xbox controller out, PS4 controller was sent next day, excellent customer service.
As with all Razer products you get a great unboxing experience and unboxing this controller won’t disappointed you.
This the Quartz version so it’s in a nice pink body with pink thumbsticks and silver accents on the triggers. You can get it in black if you want also.
It can be used on the PC or PS4 and toggled via a switch on the bottom. You will need to purchase a Bluetooth dongle to use it wirelessly on the PC though. You do get a braided cable for charging and connecting to a pc if you don’t have a Bluetooth dongle.
What’s different to a normal PS4 controllers?
1. 4 programable buttons via a separate mobile app available on Android and App Store,
2. Mecha-Tactile buttons,
3. Hair Tigger’s to help in competitive games.
The battery life is great, and I get more charge out of it than I do a standard PS4 controller. I prefer the triggers sensitivity and action point also on the Razer.
I’m a fan of this shape controller which is more aligned to an Xbox and allows me to use it for hours without cramp or sore thumbs. I’ve been playing FIFA and CODMW on this with it has been fantastic. After some time, I can get sweaty hands and the rubber/coating on this allows me to keep hold of the controller.
Its build well and is good quality, my only concern is over time the silver will wear but as of now, this hasn’t happened.
Running the latest firmware I’m not experiencing any issues with the controller on my PS4 Pro or PC though on the PC I’m using the wire.
Some tips if you are stuck trying to get it to work
How do I turn it on:-
Press and hold the Remap button until the active Profile Indicator blinks.
Press and hold the Trigger.
Press the “X” button to activate the Hair Trigger Mode.
Release your finger once you feel the controller vibrate.
How do I customise: –
You can customize your controller’s button functions, mappings, and other features using the Razer Raiju Mobile app.
Simply download the mobile app on your mobile device, launch the app, and follow the onscreen prompts and instructions.
How do I connect it to my PS4:-
Press and hold the SHARE and PS buttons for at least 5 seconds. When the status indicator changes from slow to rapid blinking,
it is now in pairing mode.
On your PS4, go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth Devices and select Razer Raiju Ultimate.
Positive Punkte:
So, I’m no pro gamer and I actually got this as a Christmas present for my daughter – although I’ll grab this when I can. However, I did give it a try myself, on our PS4 Pro, and playing my favourite Call of Duty game.
This is a bit larger than the controllers we currently have, which are the bog standard PS4 ones that come in the box. Although it is slightly larger, it is really comfortable to hold and I personally like the grips. There are a lot of bumpers, triggers, etc and this will take me and my daughter time to get use to and also look at properly programming some of the buttons. This will really help me with COD.
I found this to be a good controller for my playing level and it’s great not having to worry about a cable being attached. Everything was lightening quick and I didn’t notice any lag, but then I’m not into all this 60-120ms stuff. If my soldier moves and fires when I want him to, then I’m happy.
I recently picked up a 2nd-hand Nacon Revolution controller and used that as my main controller, and I definitely prefer this one.
At the current price of 139.99, this is more than I would pay, given my and my daughters level of playing. It’s almost 3x the price of the standard PS4 ones and I can’t honestly say it’s 3x better. However, I could be tempted by the Black version, as it is 40 cheaper.
Very nice controller, but hefty price tag.
I hope you found this review & photos interesting, informative and useful.
I’ll be using this review as a comparison between the Razer Raiju Tournament Edition, the standard Dualshock 4 and the Xbox Elite Controller. And, yes, despite this being a Vine review, I did previously willingly pay full price for the Xbox Elite Controller to help with my faltering Call of Duty skills over on Xbox. So with a new CoD out, let me start by answering the two questions that I would be asking about this product.
Does it improve my CoD skills? Yes.
Does it improve my CoD skills as well as the Xbox Elite controller? Yes.
Overall, it doesn’t have all the functionality of Microsoft’s controller (the even more expensive Ultimate Edition appears to) but it does the same job and in some ways does it better.
For example, I prefer the paddles on the back of the Raiju. Bigger, easier to use and there’s just the one pair. I had to remove the second lot from the Elite because it was too confusing for my poor brain and/or fingers to make use of both sets at the same time. Instead, you now get M2 and M3 buttons next to the L2 and R2 shoulder triggers. These are mostly very handy additions, although I do occasionally end up accidentally switching between primary and secondary weapons when firing because of this layout. Great for certain challenges but it’s cost me a kill too. Still, this can be fixed by reconfiguring the buttons with the app.
The app is an area where this loses out to the Elite. Hooking up the controller to your phone’s Bluetooth to access the app isn’t as fast as Microsoft’s method but it gets the job done. As an aside, my controller came with the latest firmware installed.
With that in mind, there have been complaints from others about input lag and drift on the sticks. I can honestly say that I see no deficit here over using the Dualshock 4. Again, my CoD reactions when using the Raiji are the best I could hope for at this stage. There is no issue for me.
When holding the controller for the first time, my initial impression of the analogue sticks wasn’t as positive. The sticks felt like they would be slippery. In practice, this has never been a problem and I now consider them superior to the Dualshock 4 but not as impressive as the Elite. For some reason, it says on the product that this version of the controller has interchangeable parts. It doesn’t, which is where the Elite controller is a level above it.
The d-pad is okay, it performs the correct inputs (not always a given in this day and age, unbelievably) but it’s an aspect that could be improved on. I would have to say the d-pad is the one area where Sony’s much cheaper official controller is objectively better.
The mecha tactile buttons feel like clicking a mouse. It’s the first time I’ve encountered a pad that does this. I’m not entirely sure it adds anything (unless you’re making an ASMR video) but it isn’t something I really think about when playing.
Finishing off with the shoulder triggers/buttons. L1 and R1 are fine, not much to write about. L2 and R2, however, are of more note for CoD thanks to the hairtrigger locks .I definitely prefer these to the Dualshock and consider them as good as the Elite.
The Razer Raiju is expensive but does provide me with a competitive edge that I would not want to give up now. Swapping to the Xbox layout is beneficial and this is as ergonomic to hold as any controller. The grips on the back of the pad have a nice rubbery texture but overall the Elite controller does feel more luxurious.
This is the best controller I’ve used on the PS4, and while I’ve been playing it wired for the most part, it does have twice the battery life of the official one (not much to shout about, really). Syncing it wirelessly took a couple of goes but nothing too aggravating.
PS. I had hoped it would work with Apple Arcade on my iPad like the Dualshock does but it doesn’t and at the time of writing I’ve seen nothing to say it ever will. It also loses the DS4’s gyroscope, which as a Paladins player I was personally disappointed by, but I must be in a tiny minority there and it’s something that has largely been ignored by other developers anyway.
I got this for my niece … not that she is particularly into pink, but she knows her brother won’t touch it … more fool him, because it is a pretty decent spec.
Can be used wired or wirelessly, has 4 programmable buttons, and seems to be ergonomically designed …
She is happy.
A very nice controller with great features and fantastic built quality!
No stick drift issues so far, but the Bluetooth connection can lag on occasion!
A wired connection is required if you want to use a headset with this controller, and that’s the only real gripe I have!
I would rate it at a solid 8/10 but at this price tag you kinda expect higher!
If you have the cash to spare grab one!
There are far too many complaints about this pink controller being ‘gendered’. If you see ‘pink’ and think ‘girl’, then YOU are the one with a gender issues. All Razer have done is break out of the dull-as-ditchwater standard colours of consoles and accessories. And fair play to them for that..
As a PS4 controller it is excellent, although expect to need a couple of days to adjust to the layout. After that though you will be the boss. We have not suffered any lag or stuttering, although in our household we don’t play the highest-octane games, and so are much less sensitive to response rates. And we play in wired mode. Why? Because that’s the only way of ensuring that my son doesn’t lose the controller!
The grip is comfortable and natural but, again, we don’t play for eight hour sessions.
Usually you can choose performance controllers OR good looking controllers, but not both. Razer just did both. Nice work.
This controller feels really good in the hand. It has a good non slip surface, and all of the triggers and pads fall under the fingers. Even after extended use it is very comfortable, much more so than the standard PS4 controller. It is responsive and accurate and has decent battery life.
The only issue I have is that when using it with a PC there is native Steam support but not Windows support like there is for an Xbox controller. I am not sure if this is a fault of Razer or of Windows, but it does mean that unless you are using Steam to play your games you will need to install more third party software to get it to work.
Overall this is a big improvement on the PS4 controller. It is responsive and comfortable to use for an extended period of time. Recommended.
eeded a new controller because i had so many issues with standard dualshock 4 controllers, feels good in hand with great grip, all the extra buttons work on well and easy to change what the buttons are mapped to with the app on my phone. has the occasional stick drift but it usually stops after i unplug the controller and re connect. mainly been playing with the controller wired but the battery life seems fine. it’s cool how you can have different button presets for each game that you play and also being able to dim the lights or change the effects on the controller is also a plus. would recommend if you’re fed up with dualshock 4s like i was. it’s pricey but with having to buy the normal controllers so much you’re basically saving money buying this
After using this controller, both with my PS4 and my PC, I can say this is a clear step up from the standard PS4 controller that comes with the console. The mechanical buttons and the ability to change the shoulder button from the standard mode to the hair trigger mode is certainly a game changer for games such as Overwatch, but also games like the Project Diva games as it gives it that much more of a faster response. The rubberised grips also aid in making the experience of playing intense games for long periods of time fair less strenuous than it would previously have been. The aesthetic aspects of the controller are also stunning. I have the Quartz version, and this goes very well with my pink and grey set-up, however judging by pictures online, the other colours could go nicely with almost any colour scheme you may have for your gaming.
As for nitpicks, I would say the problems with this device are fairly miniscule, and could be less troublesome after spending more time with it. This issue being the change in layout of the face buttons and the left analogue stick. As a PS4 player, I am used to d-pad being below the analogue stick, however this would be no problem to an experience xbox player. However, the price tag is very hefty, and I couldn’t recommend a casual player, or someone who has more limited funds. The additions are very welcome, but realistically you could do without.
In summary, this controller is very comfortable for someone who has average sized hands, and it does seem to help with certain games. However, due to the price, I can only recommend to the dedicated gamer, or the gamer who wishes to play their favourite games in style and comfort.
This is a great joystick upgrade to a standard PS4 controller (but at nearly three-times the cost of a standard Sony controller)- much better to hold, more precise and certainly more substantial – ideal if you like games and Razer is a trusted brand; The pink colour is quite divisive though as I gifted this to my 24-year-old niece who has been a gamer since she was 4 years old – she loved the joystick but questioned the “morality” of the colour – for interest she would have prefered a camo model even though she is very much a girls’s girl! Great joystick if you can get over the colour and what that represents?
Brilliant controller. Will never go back to a dualshock. It’s more ergonomic and just *feels* better.
Paddles and shoulder buttons are sound, responsive and easy to configure. Multiple profiles can be configured so you can have setups for multiple games. I do have an issue where the profiles will randomly reset BUT the fact it takes me approximately 30 seconds to get it back to the way it was means this doesn’t bother me at all.
Sticks have different exchangeable types, Concave, Raised or convex, to suit your play style. Same with the d-pad, a more ‘one-button’ d-pad option over individual buttons d-pad.
Light bar is a nice touch as well. I mostly use it to distinguish which profile it’s on.
I’m also able to easily switch between using this with my PS4 (Wired) and my PC (Blueooth) which is just great.
The controller is just so good and gives you so much.
I’m a bit on the fence around value for money but it does include a number of value added benefits.
First off though, it is beautifully presented. The controller can be used wirelessly or wired and doesnt take too long to charge.
Build quality is good.
You can use it with PS4 or PC and the real secret sauce is in the customisation.
Theres an app, much like there is for everything these days but it does give some handy control to easily remap and control features on the fly,
Remapping is easy to suit and the mech buttons are pleasant to use.
As a controller it functions really well, was comfortable after a few hours and was fast and responsive.
Its a great controllor for taking your control up a notch
Amazing controller, love that you can change the trigger buttons with the app, outstanding battery life and the grip is really comfortable after long hours the only and biggest downside is the blue led below the pad, that thing is so bright at night and in the morning while you’re holding it down it will disturb you and catch your attention while playing and the app doesn’t have a way turn down the brightness of it.
I have been a competitive COD player for around 7 years now, going to LANs, competing online for money etc..
I have owned several SCUF controllers in the past, and though they are great when they work, they are not only expensive, but extremely prone to breaking. Maybe I shouldn’t expect them to last for ever when I’m using them for 5+ hours most days, but I do. I’ve been through 3 SCUFs each being repaired by the manufacturer at least once, and I decided to try something new.
Having used Razer mice and keyboards, this seemed the logical buy – not a modified dualshock, but something engineered from the ground up. I got it in the Prime Day sale for 100, so I’m basing this review at least ion part on it being cheaper than a SCUF, but at full price I guess they’d be similar.
My first impressions were fantastic. The controller is really solidly built, feels amazing at fit my hands perfectly. It’s much closer to an Xbox controller than a PS4, and the dpad and left analog stick are flipped, which I like. The back paddles have a great click to them, and I love the extra buttons between R1/L1 and R2/L2.
The problems started when I started playing. Firstly, it felt like I was writing with my left hand or something, everything was foreign and well.. I was rubbish. It’s easy to overlook how much of you skill in videogames comes down to muscle memory. After 10+ years with a dualshock of some form, maybe it was stupid to think I could switch to a new controller shape and feel no difference. It took a good few hours just to feel even slightly normal again, and on top of that, I was accidentally pressing the added buttons. Every other gunfight I was swapping my weapon out, or reloading, or randomly jumping around as I pressed the paddle accidentally, or my hand brushed the little button. But it got better. After around a week of constant use, I felt more comfortable, and after a month it was like nothing had ever changed. I would advise you to persevere. You can disable the additional buttons, but I want to get used to actually using them. I’m still pressing square and triangle, but trying to teach myself to use the buttons, as they do offer a very slight benefit.
The other big problem was the ‘drift’. I don’t know exactly how to describe it, but occasionally you would move the stick and half a second later, it would input the command. At first this was extremely frustrating, but after doing the firmware update (I found this by googling, they don’t telly you anywhere you need to do it which is frustrating), all the problems went away.
I use this controller exclusively wired, and haven’t tried it out with bluetooth or PC yet. A lot of the reviews say this is where the problems are, so I would take that into consideration if you don’t play wired.
Overall I am really happy with the purchase. It took a good while to get used to, but stick with it and the results will show. I’m yet to mess around with the customisation, but it could be useful going forward. The main question I have is will it still be as good in 6 months, a year, after constant use? I hope so, it feels extremely well made, but I will update this review if it ever lets me down!
Reat product. Change button via mobile app. Able to set multiple profiles and. Hange them in seconds. Only issue I have is with the left analogue and share button being so close. Build muscle memory quickly but does take adjustment from ds4
This is my second unit as the first one died, Amazon replaced it promptly
Overall an excellent product . Great build quality feels very responsive in the hands .A good non slip textured feel to the body and positiive buttons. Easily customisable via the app to your preferred button sensitivity and layout
Backed by the excellent purchase guarantee and delivery provided by Amazo
So for a long time I was looking for an alternative to the Sony dualshock 4, mostly for games such as Rainbow Six Siege and shooters in general, after owning this for a few weeks I can say that it is worth every penny!
First of all the Build quality
The controller on first impressions when opening the box was that it was built with a good quality in mind, the controller has a really nice weight, the buttons feel durable and the comfort is perfect, feels somewhat like a damm good Xbox One controller.
Performance,
I set the controller and mapped the M buttons to set up for Siege in particular using the Raiju app which is easy to use in itself, for the first few games I played I left the Hair Trighers off to see if it makes a difference and I can safely say it definitely does, the hair triggers reduce the trigger travel drastically and feels like it gives an edge in game, alongside your M buttons being set to suit the game you play and it makes for a really smooth experience.
The Rest,
The battery life is really good, I’ve charged it the whole of twice since purchase but lately I haven’t been ganing loads so mileage will vary, the supplied charging cable is of good quality, ease of connecting to a pc is a bonus as well as the quick switch on the back, the mouse click feel of the extra M buttons feels great and over all a great controller!
Valutare eventuale assicurazione
I constantly press the back buttons but I’m starting to get with it no drift left or righ
A Very high quality controller and is a major improvement on the original.
Absolutely love this controller and I’ve tested all of the top brands (Scuf, Nacon etc.). This is the most comfy for larger hands and certainly the best build quality!
I’d happily recommend to anyone looking for the competitive edge it affords due to the paddle buttons underneath!
The controller itself is really nice to hold and use, the app for assigning buttons is also easy to use.
But……….
I have found that when playing 1st person shooter games for instance you sometimes get a problem with the player moving in directions you dont want, carrying on moving even tho you have stopped and spinning around in circles when not touching the buttons or sticks. Now I carried out the latest software update which helped a little bit but has not cured it.
The only reason I still have the controller is because it is wireless, comfortable to use and has the extra buttons which I have become accustomed to from using the previous wired version and then this one.
I had some concerns about dead-zones but I have not had an issue. I am happy with this controller and consider it an upgrade from my standard ps4 controller. I play FPS and chose this controller as I wanted to jump/melee with out taking my thumb off the stick. It has two buttons underneath, which you easily set to whatever you choose. So it has been a success for me. One point is you can’t play wireless and use headset, but the cable is long.
This pad is awesome, easily worth the extra money. Go on, treat yourself 🙂
This is the best controller ever. It deserves 10 out of 5 stars as it that good. It has so many features.
My grandson loves this gaming controller. He described it as ‘amazing and cool’. He said that it is comfortable to hold and use even for long periods and the grip is safe and secure. He felt the function buttons were really sensitive and placed ‘just right’ and he loved the way they can be changed to a personalised configuration by connecting the controller to your phone via Bluetooth. In wireless mood he got about 15 hours use. He hasn’t experienced any faults or teething problems in use. Expensive though.
This is very comfortable to hold your hands. It feels really good! I like that it’s not too small.
The build quality is awesome.
The controller has a lovely texture and generously sized buttons.
The light from the controller is very bright and distracting. I mean, it looks cool the first time you see it but…
I’m using the 1.04 update, which it shipped with, I haven’t experienced any stick drift, yet, but I note many others are reporting it.
The included braided cables are lovely BUT also annoying — you can only use the included USB to micro-USB cable to charge this.
The battery life is very satisfactory — I am getting 8+ hours of a single charge.
I’m not sure about value for money.
This replaced my Nacon revolution Pro. Waited just over a week before reviewing just to make sure I didn’t get the drifting of the original model. Shipped with the up to date firmware I’ve had zero issues with drifting at over 100 hours play both ps4 and Windows. Although it’s dropped in price now so grab a bargain
Onto my second Raiju, no issues, countless hours played on my first.
This fits nicely into the hand, nothing surprising for users of standard controllers, but plenty of extra (configurable) buttons. I personally like the slightly heavier weight, and even in long playing sessions it’s not a problem. You can use this controller for any game, but it comes into its own in shooters and actions scenes. The response is very crisp, and the buttons on the bottom of the controller can give you an edge. If you’re playing games where reaction time is a factor, this luxury controller will pay dividends.
Works well and deliver a great performance for pro gamers and those who plays for a very long time. The battery life in Bluetooth mode holds out well. Its very comfortable to the hands and the extra button it comes with is a plus so players can uses different sticks to suit their play style. Only down fall to me is a 3.0 jack headset would not work when the controller is in Bluetooth mode, also the m3 and m4 buttons to the rear might be a bit to big because u sometimes accidentally presses them. Overall good controller for the gammers.
(Review written by Tom Diment, age 13)
The Raiju ultimate controller is perfect for all pro gamers. I am a PC player by choice, but I started on console. The Raiju controller however has pretty much made me into a player who is just as good being a controller player as I am a PC player.
The macro keys on the back of this controller (as in the pads), allow me to jump or crouch without even touching the standard PS4 buttons. There are also the two macros between the R2 button and the L2 button. All of the buttons are mechanical including the arrows and the toggle stick buttons (L3 and R3).
The heads on the Joysticks are magnetic and click into place, and can be changed to a taller head or a shorter head. The taller and the shorter head are in the case. By using the taller head on your aim toggle stick, with a bit of practice you will be far more accurate.
R2 and L2 are both lockable (so you don’t have to push them in as far for them to trigger), this can be done by using the two switches on the back. There is also a third switch on the back allowing you to connect via the USB to mini USB, or by Bluetooth to a PC, or by Bluetooth to PS4. There is also a downloadable addition to this controller allowing you to program the macros and the lighting effects around the D -pad.
Altogether this controller is definitely a good controller to buy (despite its high price), and will definitely improve your accuracy on shooter games and your speed pressing different buttons.
Unbelievable build quality, the sheer sensation of using something made this well is hard to define. It just feels better. Better ergonomics, better weight in the hand, better button response, better texture under the fingers, better design and it just feels lovely. It’s a delightful thing to hold in the hand.
Works well with PS4, and some PC games. Easy to pair, easy to charge and holds charge for a decent time, easy to configure and change buttons, sticks etc, but it’s the tactile perfection which is why you’re buying it. If gaming is important to you, this is incredible.
I love the Razer keyboards as they are top quality. This controller is also top quality unit. you can modify the buttons and settings to suit your way of gaming. But is it really worth over 200 quid? Perhaps a 100. Still, an excellent controller which is a pure joy to use.
Let me get one thing clear at the beginning of the review. This was provided for review, and I don’t think I’d ever spend this kind of money on a controller. I’m not really sure how anyone would but I guess if you’re an online gamer you might feel it gives you an edge, and to be fair, it definitely does.
The controller does ooze quality right from opening the box. You get extra bits that snap on and off by means of neodymium magnets, they’re secure, don’t worry, they don’t rattle around. The bits are extended thumbsticks and different grips.
Using the controller is pretty standard, but I also went the extra mile and tried it on these systems:
Android: Works fine! Even on games that support controllers like Evoland 2 and the new stardew valley, it works fine!
PC: So long as you have bluetooth, again, works perfectly. However, worth noting that steam can be a bit anti-ps4 controller, and since it goes in as a ps4 (or ps3) controller you have to tweak some settings in big screen mode for it to play nice. Not a big deal, just worth noting.
There’s also an android app to customise it and I found that although the app has really poor reviews, I didn’t have any issues with it other than the elephant in the room which is that you have to register online to be allowed to use it. Hmph. I don’t like that!
Using the app allows you to customise the buttons at the bottom of the controller that you might not even have noticed up until that point! I don’t believe there’s any other way to do this so unfortunately it’s behind a registration wall. Hmph. I don’t like that.
The controller comes with a really nice case, unfortunately the cable doesn’t fit in the case which is a bit of an oversight but whatever, it works fine.
The icing on the cake is the switch that locks the shoulder buttons down to shorter movement, great for when you need super fast response time for presumably the online war games that seem popular these days.
Overall then, well, it’s a premium product, and I do see a lot of people having issues, but in the time I used it, over multiple systems, I didn’t see any issues. So, I like it.
This is an outstanding quality controller. Having now used it in association with my PS4 I can testify to it’s fantastic build quality.
It’s programmable buttons are a boon too. Compared to a standard PS4 controller (which I think are excellent) the button presses on this Razer are something else. A really responsive and satisfying press.
It’s not cheap there is no denying it. But it is a superb quality item. It feels just ‘more’ in every way. Razer remain capable of outstanding quality and the performance of the controller is fantastic. I didn’t believe it could be as much better than it is. But it’s undeniably good.
This Gaming Controller is very comfortable and easy to use and the response is very accurate. We have used the Controller in both Wireless and Wired mode and have experienced no problems whatsoever with either.
The Razer Raiju Ultimate Gaming Controller is a sturdy, well built product and is certainly made for the serious game players out there.
There are several features on the controller which we haven’t explored yet but rest assured it is quality at its best. It’s excellent quality is down to the fine detail; for instance the connection lead is covered with black material cord and measures over 2 metres in length.
The neon coloured lights are pretty cool too and there are 6 different modes you can choose from.
It comes complete with its own well designed, neat, robust zipped pouch – (see photo) in which there is enough storage space to hold the connection lead.
As it says on the instruction booklet, “For Gamers. By Gamers”.
It is an expensive product and is certainly a quality one where the attention to detail is top notch.
Make no mistake, this Razer Raiju Ultimate is a quality piece of kit. Made with uncompromising quality it feels great to unbox. The ability to use with both the PS4 and PC gives great flexibility, and what a superb controller for PC it makes. I like the option of a wired mode for faster response times. The customisation of D-Pad and Thumbsticks is a neat idea, as are the multiple customisation options for the controller buttons.
What is not so good?
– It is significantly bigger – in size and weight – than a regular Sony Dualshock 4. I found it less comfortable to hold as a result.
– It is one expensive controller. The question you’ll have to ask yourself is whether it is worth four times the price of a regular Dualshock 4?
To price will have your eyes popping out of their sockets, and whether or not it is worth that price is entirely down to what you expect from a controller. I expect longevity, comfort and responsiveness. This Raihu Ultimate has it all. It comes in a zipable case, and a quality power cable of ample length.
It feels incredibly comfortable to use for lengthy periods – better than an original controller. THe buttons are well engineered, feeling comfortable to use and falling perfectly in place.
It is customiseable too with the ability to remap buttons, also giving the option to change the lighting modes. Really impressive and eye catching to look at.
During gameplay I find it very responsive and accurate. Something that is lacking on cheaper non OEM controllers.
If you are a serious gamer or at least regular PS4 user and need a replacement controller or second controller, then it is worth the outlay I think. Certainly better than forking out 40 or 50 for a far inferior product that lasts a matter of months.
Love it. Well done Razer.
I’ve stayed away from the 3rd party or even “licenced” controllers thanks to some bad experiences from my PS1/PS2 days but seeing one from the likes of Razer piqued my interest… it’s larger than the standard PS4 pad and more comparable to the original Xbox “Duke” controller but I like that, it feels solid… planted in my hand, I’m not likely to lose my grip during a long play session or get hand cramps. The customisation in where this really excels, the sticks can be swapped, buttons remapped almost on the fly and even customised for individual games. A must for any serious playe
This feels solid and very well made. The skin is a rubberised plastic that feels durable — I haven’t been able to scratch it with my nails, and it’s doing well at resisting finger marks. The controller feels well balanced and sits well in the hand. For my large, clumsy, adult hands, I would prefer that the fins were a little larger and I find this controller slightly harder to securely hold. However, it’s not a major problem, and my son is happy with this controller size.
The controls and buttons have a satisfactory level of resistance and click-ability. The many buttons on the bottom are well placed, though took me a bit of getting used to. We like the locks that covert some of the buttons to hair-trigger mode. The magnetic control attachments snap in place solidly and stay put securely. I particularly like the slightly higher thumbstick.
I not too sure which PC games this is compatible with, but it seems to work with the few I tried after I had downloaded the drivers for both steam games and non-steam games from the product’s website. Connection through the cable worked well, and the enclosed instructions (which you can also download from the Razer web site) were clear and easy to follow. PC Bluetooth connection was also established easily. We haven’t used this mode much, but so far we haven’t found any major problems, although we have occasionally noticed a very slight lag in response to controller action when connected via Bluetooth. However, Bluetooth seems fine for general game playing, though serious competitors will probably stick to wired connections.
The USB/charge cable is adequately long for wired playing on the PC. It feels strong, is nicely braided, and it fits very securely onto the controller, so there is little chance of it falling out during play. However, one thing to note is that, because of its secure fitting design, none of my other USB cables fit, so I am fully reliant on the supplied cable, even for charging. The provided neoprene case feels of good quality and holds the controller securely.
The controller offers useful customisation, for example allowing you to scroll through one of four pre-set configuration modes, as well as changing the lighting configuration. The optional app allows you to customise even more settings, as well as save your configurations provided you register with Razer. I connected the controller to the app on my Android phone without any problem, and operating the app seems easy and intuitive.
Overall, there no denying this is expensive, but it is well made and everything feels of good quality. It’s nice to hold, the buttons are well engineered, and it offers a good range of customisation.
This is a nice chunky high end controller, but extremely pleasant and tactile to hold. I love the fact it can be used wireless, or wired for ultra quick responses, but I would advise using it wired, as there was sometimes a noticeable lag in button responses when using the pad wirelessly.
I also like that you get interchangeable D Pads and Joysticks. You can reprogram various button functions, or use saved button settings. The face buttons (X, Triangle, Square and O) respond instantly with a nice click, and I much prefer them to a standard PS4 controller. The subtle LED lighting looks great too.
There are so many functions, and variations on functions with the Raiju Ultimate that I haven’t had time to explore them all, but it is an amazing piece of kit, somewhat marred by the wireless lag.
This controller won’t instantly turn you into a better, faster games player, but with experience it almost certainly will. Unfortunately all this comes at a price, and at nearly 200 pounds it is going to be difficult for many to swallow, let alone afford. However, for the dedicated PS4 gamesplayer it is most definitely worth the investment. I loaned my Raiju Ultimate overnight to a friend, and he agreed it was the best PS4 controller he had used, a major step up from the last generation Raiju controller, and a must have item for serious players. As he plays in competition I take that to be a very positive endorsement.
Initial impressions review . This can be a wireless or wired item . You need to get the app. The app with this device offers lots of customisation. So it’s able to adjust to how you want and set up hair pin game trigger and and it has the option to play via USB /PC as well as PS4 which it is aimed towards .
Really nice looking but of kit – will look great in any gaming set up. Soft touch for thumbs always welcome too. Plan to add more to this when more use .
