Plastiche un poco approssimative, istruzione non facilissime. Nel complesso un modello non per neofiti, necessita di molta pazienza l’alberatura ed il sartiame. Le vele sono in plastica
Mein Mann hatte dieses Modell vor 40 Jahren schon einmal. Allerdings ist die “Cutty Sark” beim Umzug zerbrochen.
Jetzt hat mein Mann wieder Zeit und ist sehr glcklich, SEINEN Traum-Segler wieder zusammenbauen zu knnen.
Das wunderschne Modell hat wie frher seine Schwchen in der Genauigkeit der Teile.
Was WESENTLICH besser ist als frher: es liegen “Ankerketten” und Garn zum spteren Segel bespannen dabei.
Die Baubeschreibung und der Bauplan sind extrem gut und der komplette Gegensatz zu der schlechten Beschreibung von frher.
Alles in allem sind wir SEHR zufrieden mit dem Kauf.

Es ist ein schnes Schiff und man kann es gut zusammen bauen.
Der Hinweis, dass dieses Modell nur fr Experten geeignet ist, habe ich viel zu spt auf der Packung gelesen. Es ist mein erstes Modell, das ich mit meinem Enkel zusammen bauen wollte. Das Projekt haben wir leider abbrechen mssen. Wir sind berfordert.
The instruction booklet could use a little more instruction re: knots
Ein schner Bausatz, der aber wirklich viel Geduld erfordert. Teilweise stimmt der Bauplan nicht (z.B. kann man die Ankerketten nicht durchfhren, sondern muss Lcher ins Deck bohren) – ich habe gedacht, ich mache was falsch, bis ich in den Modellbauforen gelesen habe, dass es am Bausatz liegt. Teilweise ist die Passgenauigkeit der Teile nicht gut, so dass man zu Messer und Feile greifen muss. Die Takelage ist nicht gut beschrieben, so dass ich einige male meine “Taue” kappen und neu verlegen musste.
Wenn es denn fertig ist, sieht es super aus!

Dieses Schiff ist fr eine Gussform aus 1958 sehr gut. Dieses Schiff ist sehr gut zu bauen. Allerdings ist dieser modellbausatz nichts fr Anfnger.
This is a level 5 model kit. The model has all of the details and rigging of the real ship. This kit is for more advanced builders because of all the small and detailed parts. Plus all the painting that has to be done to it. The model when finished is 33.5 inches long and stands from the bottom of the keel to the top of the main mast is 22.3 inches tall. This is a large model. Since I am 73 years old, and have been building these type of models for a long time and enjoy building these models.

So, like other ‘modellers’ I’ve been wanting to do this kit for a while now (my first ship). If you are a level 5 modeller you should, by now, have a lot of your own gear – plastic cutters, numerous files, different types of glue, string, cotton, tape, brushes, paints, fillers etc… You will need all of these and more.
I’m used to doing the WWII aircraft plastic kits, small and large, so wanted to try a larger scale ship build with detailed rigging (I enjoy a challenge). This is very good kit and quite detailed in the moulding. However, there are a couple of reasons why I haven’t given this 5*:
– Some of the diagrams in the instructions are vague and it would be easy to glue in the wrong area (always fit the pieces before cementing in place!)
– It takes a LOT of preparation work in filing to remove the mould press residue usually left behind. On larger items they are easy to file or scrape off however there are a lot of smaller parts that do require a lot of fiddly filing.
– As I have not built this ship before I probably should have checked the forums and model groups to see if anyone had issues with some of the sequencing of part build as well as very little information about putting the parts together – e.g. for some of the rigging (much later on in the instructions) it required tying cotton around the larger deck rope stores which can pull glued items out if not glued in sufficiently (for my money, the older instructions found on the 1960’s release were much more detailed and I don’t know why model makers have reverted back to providing little or no information about the build…)
– some of the smaller parts were easily broken on the stencil (during transit I guess) and required repair.
– the rigging diagrams are also vague in many places and require you to thoroughly go through the instructions to see exactly where the rigging is tied to (in some cases, hidden loops on the main masts!)
In any event, this is a detailed model that requires a lot of modelling skills, patience and time. Not to be rushed.
I’m still building the cutty Sark and have been for the past three months. Make sure you buy a air brush and all the paints, there are a few things that can be done to deck to make it look like real wood and I’m using real cloth for sails the plastic is not that nice for a few quid to make it look real is worth while. Put the work in and have a nice ship in the tank.
Mit diesem Modellbausatz nimmt man sich aber auch einiges vor –in dieses Modell mssen richtig viele Stunden gesteckt werden, damit es am Ende auch wirklich gut wird. Ich bin noch nicht mal bei der Takelage angekommen (und die ist laut einigen Berichten die grte Herausforderung) und habe schon ber 20 Stunden Arbeit hineingesteckt (wobei ich auch nur Wiedereinsteiger bin und bestimmt 20 Jahre keine Baustze mehr gebaut hatte.
In so einer Situation muss man auch noch –neben dem Bausatz selbst –mit einigen Zusatzkosten fr Material und Werkzeug rechnen. Je nach Anspruch kann man da durchaus noch einmal mehr als fr den Bausatz selbst ausgeben.

Ich finde das Modell sehr schn und arbeite seit einigen Tagen dran. Dazu muss ich sagen, dass ich bei mir ein fehlerhaftes Teil festgestellt habe. Das kann passieren. Dieses Teil wurde aber anstandslos vom Verkufer getauscht. Innerhalb krzester Zeit war das Ersatzteil hier. Wirklich super.

Der Bausatz verfgt ber die typische, mittelmige Revell-Qualitt (viel nacharbeiten erforderlich). Mit den Veredelungsteilen, die es auf HISmodel.com gibt (Holzdeck, Stoffsegel etc.), kann ein versierter Modellbauer ein Prunkstck daraus machen.

Das Modell ist fr mich. Habe ein groes Interesse an den alten Klippern.
Die Teile sind sehr gut gemacht. Details sind gut wiedergegeben. Jedoch baue ich den Segler noch nicht. Erst wenn die Zeit fr den Bau stimmt.

It’s huge!!!!! It’s the biggest plastic model kit I have ever seen. I was shocked when it arrived. I bought it for my boyfriend for Xmas. It’s excellent value for money. It was a good buy. I just need to put a shelf up to display the model when built due to its size. it will be too big to sit on window ledge. It will need its own display space WOW!!!!

My son requested this as a gift for Christmas and has enjoyed building it. Look forward to seeing it finished.
I have always been fascinated by the Cutty Sark. The model kit arrived today with the packaging in an awful state. The parts were all there, as far as I could see. The original box had not even been protected by a layer of …. anything. It was all torn and the pieces that make up her sails were damaged. Outrageous. On reflection, I should have returned it immediately.
Patience will be needed…there is 11 pages of rigging diagrams. I shall do a little at a time…it will be a challenge. But hopefully the end result will be of impressive Museum quality in build. I plan to have the model placed into a showcase when completed…previously I have completed level four. Some diagrams such as the bowsprit rigging need to be far better illustrated than what they are…it really does take a lot of concentration a very challenging level five..
Punktabzug fr die Bauanleitung. Ich habe strickt nach Anleitung gebaut. Man merkt sofort, dass einige Schritte, speziell die Takelage, vorher gemacht werden sollte.
Tipp 1: alle sen (Name vergessen), die am Mast hngen mssen, sollte vor der Takelage angebracht sein. Wenn berall Fden befestigt sind, ist es sehr schwierig noch am Mast irgendwelche sen zu befestigen.
Tipp 2: Kauft euch am Besten fr die Takelage ein Perlennadel (Big Eye) etwa 6cm lang. Spart sehr viel Zeit beim Fdeln.
I haven’t started building this yet, but the package arrived on time and everything looks good. I checked the contents of the model, and it’s all good to go. I can’t wait to start building it!!
In den 1960/70ern gab es dieses Modell schon einmal und eine echte Verbesserung hab ich nur bei den Wanten feststellen knnen. Alle anderen Teile sind, so glaube ich, noch mit den alten Formen produziert worden. Die anderen Teile mssen von Gugraten, Einfll- und Ausdrcksockeln befreit werden. Teilweise mu auch gespachtelt werden. Die Passgeauigkeit ist so LaLa, so mu z.B. am beim Rumpf am Heck arg improvisiert werden um die Spalte zwischen den Rumpfhlften zuzudrcken, auch passen die Decks nur mit viel Willen und Aufwand. Es sind auch richtige Fehler zu finden, so mu man Lcher fr die Ankerketten (die zu “dnn”sind, ich habe andere besorgt ) bohren sonst kommen sie nicht vom Deck durch die Klsen. Ich habe weitere Lcher fr die Ketten durchs Deck gebohrt um die Ketten darauf mit Garn zu befestigen. .Das kann Revell besser!
Nebenbei gibt es viel Freiraum fr Verbesserungen: bei der Farbwahl fr die Aufbauten und der Strke von Takelgarnen etc..
Aber was soll das “Gemecker” , schlielich will man ja basteln! Das mu man dann auch. Kleiner Tip, ich hab den Rumpf mit Gips ausgegossen, so steht das Modell besser wenn man es takelt; dafr ist allerdings ein stabilerer Stnder sinnvoll (Eigenkonstruktion).
PS.: Nun noch eine Nebenbemerkung. Damals gab es ein baugleiches Modell, lediglich ohne Skysegel als “Thermopylen” zu kaufen. Hier sei darauf hingewiesen, das dies nicht dem Original entspricht: “Cutty Sark” ca. 900 BRT, “Thermopylen” ca. 1300 BRT, das mte als Begrndung reichen.
Da im Rumpf des Modells ein Markierung mit zwei Nummern und “black ” bzw. “green” angebracht sind, knnte es sein, da wieder eine “falsche Thermopylen” vertrieben wird. (Es war damals trotzdem ein vergleichbar schnes Modell mit grnem Rumpf)
