The RHBM2001 from Russell Hobbs is a 20 litre cavity capacity microwave, comfortably fitting a standard size of dinner plate. It comes with a removable and dishwasher safe glass turn-table for easy cleaning.
Additional features include a handy digital clock and count-down timer, and for added peace of mind, the RHBM2001 comes with a child safety lock option. Once the child lock is on, it locks the button control so the microwave cannot be activated.
Measuring 38.2cm high, by 59.5cm wide and 31.6cm deep, it’s the perfect fit for your unit, freeing up valuable space on the counter top. It is designed to fit a kitchen unit opening of 36.2cm high, by 56cm wide and 32cm deep, and should be instaled by a suitably qualified person.
Cooking Programmes
Pre-programmed auto cook menus, such as pizza (reheat), fish, and popcorn, allow you to cook all your favourite foods at the push of a button. What’s more, there’s automatic defrost settings meaning all you have to do is input the weight of the food, and the microwave selects the ideal defrost time, saving you time and effort. Moreover, 5 microwave power levels enable tailoring of your cooking experience.
Avoiding Mishaps
To avoid any microwave mishaps it is recommended to take extra care with the following:
Low moisture foods (eg. cereals, bagels, dried pasta, pulses and chocolate)
– These must be cooked on a low power level for a very short length of time, or preferably not at all.
High sugar content foods (eg. jams, syrups)
– These foods can become easily ‘super-heated’ when cooked in a microwave oven.
Foods containing alcohol
– Foods with an alcohol content must not be cooked in a microwave as they could ignite.
Foods with a membrane or outer skin (eg. fruits, sausages, potatoes)
– Food with a sealed or none porous skin must be pierced to allow pressure and steam to escape

When the microwave oven broke down I had trouble finding a replacement but this was a perfect replacement it fitted perfectly into the kitchen uni
Easy to use and very slightly smaller on the inside so if you have large dinner plates that could be a problem.
If I need to warm food I just use a bowl so its not a problem for me, or use a smaller plate.
Looks expensive, feels solid and sturdy and is easy to fit (into Ikea cupboard) and use. Love the red LED “retro” clock. Not big but fine for 1-person flat.
If you want a basic, no fuss microwave this is the one for you.

For installations where the microwave is fixed at eye level and the power point is at skirting board level, then the lead is too short and requires an extension.

Most disappointed it looked first class,but 5 millimetres to large ,why don’t all wall units and appliances fit into space provided.
So when ordering millimetres are important.Amazon picked it next day,great but the microwave looked great.
I thought the light didn’t come on when cooking but this was due to the mirrored glass, it was hard to see through it but it’s fine and I just love it.
I am yet to use the microwave, however I can say it was good value for money. No problem with the installation and am looking for to use it as soon as my kitchen is done. So far it fits in well with the other appliances.
Looks great and is easy to use. Very quiet running. Figuring out instructions for fitting wasn’t that easy. Fitting is a two man job really, as the flush fascia does not come off. That makes it tricky to get in the kitchen recess above the cooker. I wasn’t particuimpressessed with securing screw idea; (goes through the lower front of microwave) as was a bid awkward to fit, but it is secure once in place. All in all great unit for price and is simple to use.

If you haven’t got a plug socket near where the Microwave is housed, you will need an extension lead as the mains lead is quite short. The instructions state that it mustn’t be used with an extension cable, But if you buy one that is rated 1kw or greater there should be no problem. I have one on mine and it works fine.

A little context for the installation problems. We bought this microwave to replace a Smeg that went in with our fitted kitchen and which finally kicked the bucket after 14 years of use. The installation kit for the Smeg consisted of adjustable feet for the oven body with adjustable spacer arms for centralisation, and a separate trim with screw-in plastic mouldings for attaching it to the wood frame around the microwave itself. In short, the position of the oven was fully adjustable in three dimensions within the cabinet, and the trim was then attached around it.
The installation kit for the Russell Hobbs consists of a single screw, which sounds like the zenith of simplicity but isn’t. More of that later. The trim is fixed to the oven body, and while it could be removed with suitable tools there’d be little point because there’d be no way of fitting it back around the oven once the oven was installed. The whole thing is designed to be fitted as one.
The main problem for us was the height. Our cabinet recess is slightly taller than that specified in the installation guide, which meant that the oven sat too low and left a 1cm gap between the top of the trim and the shelf above. The oven itself has no feet of any kind; although some are visible in a couple of the handbook diagrams, and there are rectangular gaps in the corners that look as though they might take rubber feet, none are fitted or provided. The oven just sits on the lower shelf. Fortunately I had some spare shelves from a long defunct bookcase and was able to cut these to size and put them between the oven and the existing shelf. A near perfect fit.
Which brings us to the mounting screw. This is a self-tapping wood screw that fits through a hole in the trim, below the door, and is supposed to bite into the shelf on which the cooker sits. The problem is that if your cabinet is constructed such that the edge of the trim sits outside it, flush with the wood, there will be no wood beneath the screw. If your cabinet is of the design that allows the trim to sit inside it, as in all of the photos on Russell Hobbs’ website, this won’t be a problem. Most installations I’ve seen are of the former type, so this screw fitting is practically useless. I’m confident that the oven is weighty enough not to move during operation or if someone yanks firmly on the door, so I’m happy to leave ours unscrewed. But if you have children or vulnerable adults in the house you may need to come up with an alternative solution just to be safe.
And that’s basically it. Not the most well thought out design in terms of ease of installation, but if you’re happy re-purposing old hardware with a bit of ad-hoc DIY (or you’re having it installed by a professional) then you shouldn’t have too much trouble. Of course if you’re building a new kitchen around this oven, rather than adding this oven to an existing kitchen, you can design the cabinet accordingly and all of these problems go away.
As for the display, like that of another reviewer ours turned out to be red. It’s frustrating that none of the promotional images or videos mentions this possibility, but it is what it is: just like a regular oven display, but red. If you can stand walking into a darkened kitchen and seeing an appliance that looks as though it’s been demonically possessed you’ll be golden, but if you have an aversion to red glows or want something that matches a bunch of other more traditional displays in your kitchen you might want to look elsewhere. Judging by the reviews here and on other sites it seems to be pot luck whether you get a green or red display. Having seen similar models from other brands, it looks as though these may be produced by a third party and re-badged.
Display aside, the overall look of the appliance is wonderful. As other reviewers have pointed out, with its brushed metal finish and semi-mirrored door it really does look more premium than its price would suggest.
But enough of this installation and aesthetic guff, how well does it oven? The good news is that as an actual microwave oven for microwaving things, it microwaves things just fine. Controls are straightforward and easy to use, and power levels seem to be on a par with our previous oven. Obviously it’s difficult doing a performance evaluation after only 24 hours, and I reserve the right to return here and dock it more stars if it starts doing unspeakable things to my baked beans or soup. But for now it does exactly what it needs to do.
One final note, not really a criticism but an observation: although the capacity is 20l the physical dimensions of the cavity were slightly different to our old oven, being marginally deeper but also narrower by about 7mm. If you have some favourite large plates which will only just fit into your current 20l oven, you might want to check the dimensions against this before you order it as a replacement. Ours do fit, but you need the alignment skills of a Panama Canal pilot to get them central without nudging the sides during operation.

Needed this for my new kitchen and it frees up work space
I was limited in my options for a built in microwave due to the design of my new kitchen. The design and functionality are fine but the clock gains time which is irritating to say the least. I purchased my first one last year and initially thought it was me setting the clock incorrectly until I started to monitor it closely. Within a month of being reset it gained 4 minutes. I called Russell Hobbs directly and they told me it was a circuitry fault which couldn’t be repaired and directed me to go back to Amazon for replacement. Amazon were amazing despite having spent many hours on the phone with them the item was eventually replaced. I had to get a tradesman to uninstall the old and reinstall the new one. Within a month the same problem happened so I called Russell Hobbs again to notify them that this model obviously has issues, their response was to direct me back to Amazon and they didn’t seem concerned that they are selling a product that has a defect.

The Russell Hobbs looked good and was inexpensive, even with shipping to Cyprus. It was easy to fit, sliding neatly into the space vacated by the Neff. It is easy to operate, cooks evenly and is quiet. My only criticism is the internal light which by day is not bright enough.

This is one of the best integrated microwaves we could find for the price. They seem to be typically very small, low power or expensive. This one looks good, is a decent make, decent size and is serving us well. It probably won’t fit a full size dinner plate or baby bottle steriliser so he aware of this.

I bought this microwave after my last one broke. This was very reasonably priced and looks really good. It heats quickly and evenly.
It was easy to fit, my worry was that it wouldn’t and we’d have to get a professional in to fit it for us.
It comes with a plug attached. The inside of the microwave is smaller than my last one but big enough to fit a dinner plate so plenty big enough for its purpose.

Well, you can get a normal sized dinner plate in it and it seems to work fine. Nice obvious and tactile buttons etc. Good looking finish, and a fair price. The fitting (if you’re putting it in a unit) isn’t the best. My last microwaves fitting was elegant compared to this
The single screw at front is a bit close to the edge, so there’s not much wood/chipboard for it to bite into. The top screw that presses to top of the unit is a pig, and needs extra wood fitting if there’s a lip on your unit. Soooo microwave OK, fitting, could be much better.

Unfortunately most offerings were either several hundred pounds and/or included a combi grill which we have no need for and requires additional cleaning.
We came across this model on Amazon and I purchased using the Amazon deals link, thereby getting the unit in it’s original packaging and with protective films intact for less than 100.
We have used the machine for several weeks now for reheating, ready meals and porridge; it works very well, the only minor niggle is the one touch start button cooks for a minimum of one minute whereby most ovens I’m used to increment the one touch time in 30 second steps.
The mirrored front of the oven looks excellent and really compliments the rest of the kitchen, though I believe it is only plastic so definitely not to be cleaned with anything abrasive.

I have a large kitchen and this microwave is smaller than the one I’m replacing. The measurements were listed for this microwave, so I can’t fault anyone but myself. If I was being overly pedantic I would have sent it back for a larger unit.

The trim round the oven is attached to the oven – unlike my previous Neff oven where it was separate.
The cavity in the wall unit (where the Neff had been previously) was too big, so that when I inserted the oven, there was a gap between the top of the trim and the unit. Luckily I had a some thin strips of chipboard, two of which I screwed into the bottom of the cavity. Sitting on these the oven fitted perfectly.
