Bought this to add to my collection of Ryobi plus and I after say it’s a great bit of kit I did think it was a bit expensive when I ordered it but now I can see why you can have different lights on or off lots of hanging points or just sat on the battery very stable I would definitely recommend

Very practical you can hook it stand it on floor, shelves very well balanced. Lights up your work area very well even in a lit up area when you want that extra light for your work space. One click of the button for both light strip’s second click for one light strip and third click to turn off. The only negative I can say is wish I purchased this age’s ago but better late than never. I can’t really say how long a battery lasts but definitely full days use with a 5ah battery with out turning off. It’s all depends on what battery size how old is your battery and charged it has. I charge my batteries every day it’s always the last thing I do before unwind from work.
Wer bereits im Ryobi System ist, bekommt eine gute und Helle Lampe (die vielleicht etwas teuer ist..).
Die Klapp-Mechanismen funktionieren sehr gut und die Lampe steht auch bei 90 geknicktem Arm sehr stabil (zumindest mit 4 und 5Ah Akku, kleinere nicht getestet.)
Darber hinaus, kann ich sagen, dass sie sehr robust zu sein scheint, da sie bereits 2x aus > 1.5 runtergefallen ist (unsachgem aufgehngt)

Molto pratica e luminosa. Eccellente la possibilit di illuminare direttamente porzioni di ambienti o tavoli da lavoro o di configurarla in modo da illuminare la scena a 360 gradi. Io la utilizzo con le mie batterie Milwaukee tramite un apposito adattatore (che nel caso di questo dispositivo ha necessitato di una piccola modifica). Non conferisco la quinta stella solo per il prezzo che giudico troppo elevato soprattutto per chi, a differenza mia, necessita anche dell’acquisto di una batteria.

Its vertasile with its many angle positions.. a bit like having a flexible led battern you can take anywhere.
I have not long owned it, but have used it for painting and decorating walls, working under cars and in engine bays which it does well, with a nice spread of light.

I got this for working on my car in tight spaces where it’s hard to see what you’re doing, I replaced the heater core and without this the job would have been much harder and have taken much longer.

This is a bright work light, great for area illumination. Being able to be stood on the floor or hung by the built in hook makes it versatile.
There is one big drawback in that it doesn’t like non genuine Ryobi batteries.
I’ve tried two lights (thinking one was faulty) and with a couple of aftermarket brands of batteries and the results are the same – if you use non genuine batteries the light will switch itself off after about 1 minute and will also switch off as soon as you press the battery charge indicator button on the battery itself.
There are no such issues with a genuine Ryobi battery and works perfectly with them.
So a good light but be warned if you don’t have any genuine Ryobi batteries!
The only reason I picked this up was I already have One+ batteries but I was still hesitant due to price. But this is a great value light. As a work light it is very flexible and gives off plenty of light. It is well made and really flexible. I think its one of the best items in the one+ range.
Until I tried it out. The light from this is nothing short of incredible. It is very flexible in operational choices and I cannot think of a situation when it could not be hung, stood, angled or be impossible to use.
This is perfect for working under the car,can get the light at any angle you need,also the hooks to hang it are very handy when working under the bonnet and you get a good amount of light time from the battery

Tolles durchdachtes Design, gute leuchtkraft blendfreies licht. Ich hoffe der kunsstoff hlt was aus die Halterungen sind leider alle aus Kunststoff.
I have 2 of these now. I use them for all sorts of things. Expensive if you’re not already a Ryobi owner. Suit me perfectly as I have around 20 Ryobi tools now.
Brilliant – on/off button could do with needing slightly firmer push as it comes on accidentally too easily – excellent work light in all corners, stands steadily on battery base
Brilliant light, especially if you have royobi batteries from other products. Has more lighting power than the London eye on New Years Eve. No honestly this is brilliant!!
Great Lighting from this Area light, which you can hang, fold, direct in multiple ways. Very expensive though and I would not buy if I did not have the Ryobi batteries already as the batteries are expensive
Diffus, also ziemlich vergleichbar dem einer Leuchtstofflampe, und trotzdem sehr “tageslicht”-hell ohne zu Blenden.
Auch bei abgewinkeltem Oberteil (sagen wir mal bei der Verwendung als Arbeitsplatzleuchte) noch sicherer Stand.
Und dass natrlich die Akkus aus dem Ryobi-Programm passen. Da hat man sicher einen “ungenutzten” als Reserve in der Ecke.
Werde mir noch eine Leuchte holen. Sicher ist der Preis nicht allzu niedrig. Aber im Anbetracht der Leistung, Qualitt und der fast unendlichen LED-Lebensdauer (20 LEDs mit zusammen 12 Watt) durchaus berechtigt.
Very bright – only thing is the on/off button could do with a little more resistance – light finger pressure can activate unintentionally – but for illuminating and area – fabulous!!

Sehr gut verarbeitet. Durch den abklappbaren Arm sehr gut an die Bedrfnisse anpassbar. Sehr gute Ausleuchtung die LED Leuchten und durch 3 Beleuchtungsstufen.
1) ca. 270 Lux bei normaler Beleuchtung mit einer Neon-Deckenlampe und drei LED-“Halogen”-Strahlern direkt in ca. 1m Hhe ber der Arbeitsflche.
2) ca. 1870 Lux, wenn die Stableuchte dazu geschaltet wird!
3) ca. 1770 Lux (wie bei 2, nur ohne das Neonlicht)
4) ca. 1600 Lux (ganz ohne fremdes Licht im ansonsten fensterlosen Keller)
5) Nutze ich nur die obere der beiden Leuchtflchen der Stablampe ergeben sich folgende Mewerte:
270/1260/1150/980 Lux
Mein Fazit:
Eine sehr zu empfehlendes Zusatzlicht fr (Fein-)Arbeiten auf der Arbeitsflche!
Update, 3 weeks in – This really is one of those things that makes you wonder how you ever managed to cope without it! Having had 3 weeks use, it’s been a godsend in airing cupboards, lofts and under sinks and baths. No, it’s not cheap, but if you already have other One items/batteries/charger etc, it really is a fantastic addition to the tool kit.
Einzig die Haken knnte man verbessern. Von der Leuchtleistung ist sie Wahnsinn. Kommt locker an eine 80 bis 100 Watt Glhbirne ran. Dazu mit dem 2.5 Akku eine super Laufleistung, denke bis zu drei bis vier Stunden.
Die Lichtabgabe kann man dosieren. Entweder ein Panel oder beide Panels. Dazu um 90 knicken was eine tolle Arbeitsflchenbeleuchtung ergibt.
Also sehr flexibel.
Vielleicht kaufe ich mir trotz des Preises noch mal eine.
PS: Ist von der Licht Farbe praktisch reinwei. Ist frs Fotografieren auch eine super LED Lampe. Tauglich fr Produkt und Makro…
I am pretty happy with this light. With how big it is, it is not super bright, but it is also not too weak. Overall, I would have liked it to of been a little bit brighter, or at least the option of 50%/100% power options, but it does allow only the front side, back side or both sides to light up at once. You can position the panels to both point the same way, opposite or infinitely between the 2.
It has a hook on the top that folds away nicely and also a couple of other hanging points that fold down from the backside of each light fixture portion. The hook looks like it may be a bit flimsy, but it is no weaker looking that the hook on my Metabo light (and that thing was not cheap) so I am not going to judge the plastic material and just trust that it has been well thought out.
I ordered this light to be shipped to the USA, as it is not sold out here. I like to have new and different tools and I am happy with my purchase, even with the extra shipping charges I had to pay to get my hands on this unit.
Now…If I can only find a way to have some of the 5AH batteries shipped my way, I will be really happy. Unfortunately, every source I have searched has stated that they won’t ship to the US. Probably a Lithium Ion issue being over 4AH in one unit on an international shipment.
With a 4.0Ah battery inserted, fully vertical, the Unit stands at 68cm (26.75″) tall: Folding the unit to its minimum height, it stands vertically at 38cm(15″) tall. The bottom half panel of LEDs remains fixed to the units base, but the top panel of LED lights, can be moved through a total of 270 degrees, courtesy of a very clever hinge, that also has a built in spring loaded hook for hanging purposes. This makes the Unit extremely versatile. This versatility is enhanced even more by three more options available to you. There are 2 additional hooks that are built into the ends of the panels, (1 each end). When these hooks are extended, you can operate the unit in a horizontal mode, by hanging it on to a horizontal wall bar (Not Supplied). If a wall bar is not to your liking, Ryobi have designed wall mounting holes in to the two hooks. Finally, the unit can be used free standing, without fear of it toppling, because of the weight of the battery in the base of the unit or alternatively fully extended, by lying it horizontally freely on a Shelf or table, giving it a better effect in spreading those Lumens of light put out by the 20 LEDs.
The two panels of LEDs are activated by an ON/OFF switch, which is situated on top of the base and is multi functional . (1) Depress the switch and both panels of light come on, giving you the Full Monty, all 20 LEDs (2) Press the switch again and the bottom panel stays on and the top panel goes out. (3) Press the switch again, the bottom panel goes out ,and the top half comes on. Finally, (4) press the switch again, and the unit is turned off.
I tested the Folding Area Light for the longevity of Three different capacity sized fully charged Ryobi Lithuim batteries, namely 4.0Ah, 1.5Ah and 1.3Ah. The first set of figures is the length of time the batteries lasted with BOTH Panel Lights ON. The Figures in brackets are the length of time the batteries lasted with just ONE panel of lights ON. The 4.0Ah Battery figures were 6 hrs15 mins (11 hrs 51mins); The 1.5Ah Battery figures were 2hrs 23 mins (4 hrs.11mins) and finally, the 1.5 Ah Battery figures were 2hrs 4mins (3hrs 40 mins).

If you are operating BOTH panels of lights at the same time. don’t close the hinged panel fully so that it is back to back and touching the fixed panel. In this scenario, the backing on both panels gets quite hot. Simply unfold the hinged panel to a 2 to 3 ” gap at the base so that it is not touching the fixed vertical Panel. By doing this, I found that the unit operated in a much cooler mode, in fact you could scarcely feel any heat on the backing from the 20 LED Lights. Because of this heating issue, I have judged this review 4 Star instead of 5
Ryobi claim the unit pushes out up to 850 Lumens. Believe me, if this is what 850 Lumens looks like, it is VERY bright. I would have preferred a dimming facility to have been fitted, so bright is the 850 Lumens in a domestic environment, even using one panel (425 Lumens), but this is a minor point.
In the workplace, this folding lamp is ideal for illumination in dark places when working for long periods. On the Domestic Front: I have used the lamp during power outages and found it absolutely superb.
As an aficionado and collector of Ryobi Products, I consider the Folding Area Light, because of its so many different lighting positions and lighting combinations, to be arguably the most Variable and Innovative Product in the Ryobi Range and they do have quite a few.
Using this light was brilliant, really easy to have a single or both LED bars illuminated (super bright). The angling of the lights are really versatile and always supported well by the weight of the battery in the base. The retractable hooks on the top and mid-section offer up more versatility in use.
I’ve left this light in my shed with the rest of my tools, its already come in handy a couple of times searching for tools in the dark. I also used it to rewire a plug socket in the dark when the power was off. I’m sure this will come in handy for a lot of jobs over the years, I’m really glad I have it now and I’m sure I will buy more Ryobi tools in the ONE+ range.
Listen to the techno bunny girl. This is a totally amazing fantastically bright light. This would be so amazing to shove in the back of your car boot if you worried about getting a puncture on dark country lanes. Scared of making it safely to the cupboard when the power trips? Hah! Irritating dark cupboard or attic where you and the angels fear to tread?
Previous Ryobi light permutations have been fairly good. This is the bees knees, the mother squeaking hamster lode of useful lights. Yeah well I got it for free. But truly …..great interchangeable battery system…..really strong light.
Yep, I’ll be gloating about this for a few weeks. My precious.
This lamp is sturdily constructed meaning it could survive some knocks. It has a 270 degree arm rotation so you can position and angle the lamp as required. The base encloses the battery providing a firm base. The upper part of the lamp has a useful plastic hook so the lamp can be hung but remember to take the weight of the battery into consideration. The light output is generous but isn’t suitable for work that requires plenty of light. Is if worth the money? If you have Ryobi kit then yes.
When fully extended it stands around 25″ tall (with battery) and the hinge allows the upper LED panel to be angled to suit the job at hand. Successive presses on the on button selects both banks, lower bank only or upper bank only. Retractable/folding hooks are located at the mid and top sections for hanging, or the whole unit is stable enough to stand quite happily on its base.
I had no concept of how bright 850 lumens was but, believe me, it is REALLY bright! Depending on which ONE+ battery you use, this will provide between 2 and 6 hours of lighting. Obviously designed as an inspection/work light, this is about as good as it gets and can happily be pressed into service wherever lighting is required away from mains power. In a couple of hours, I shall be using it to add some area lighting in my garden for my Eurovision BBQ!
If you do not already own a ONE+ device, then perhaps this is a tad pricey, especially when you factor in the cost of a battery and charger but, if you already have a Ryobi drill or whatever, then simply swap the battery over and let there be light! You will not be disappointed by this top quality area lighting unit.
