Had the previous model which was worked to a stand still. Bought this as replacment as it is brushless and variable torque. An excellent tool that can be used for delicate work as well as the largest screws. Used it to insert long concrete scews direct into the exterior wall. Really good product and price plus speedy service from seller.

I’m really in to the Ryobi range. The batteries are great and the charger takes very little time to put enough charge back to get you going. Bought this Impact Driver on Prime Day, with a good saving. Impressed with its ability to drive a 150mm screw into timber. So far, very good.

I bought this because my other ryobi impact felt s bit underpowered. This is brilliant with the power settings. It’s also got settings for decking.

It’s a bit bulkier and heavier than others especially my mates Worx one but I’ve got 4 ryobi batteries and 4 or 5 other tools.
There are more compact/lighter ones on the market and of your starting your collection then i should suggest worx or something according to your budget but this is a great balance for a keen diy person.

It doesn’t have a belt clip do work looking at toughbuilt stuff or similar to complement i

Powerful tool, works so well to get stubborn screws out of wood work! Drill pilot hole with drill and bang in The screws with this no effort at all. Saves all that drill bit to driver tip changes! Battery lasts ages too [5Ahr] still on 4 bars.

    Glad I got one!

I do like this product. It feels good and gets the job done. The led lights are one of those “where have these been all my life” things, so why the dropped star ? I may come back to amend this but there is a big wobble when using long bits or attachments. Thankfully I dont use them to often so time will tell if it becomes a big issue.

Unless you are taking off bolts from car tyres you cannot get anything better than this driver and whilst I’ve not tried it may even be able to do that! I went for this driver for 2 reasons. First reason was I have other ryobi products and never had issue. Second reason was it has the highest level of torque available in driver. I cannot compare but I cant see how the “pro” drivers like makita dewalt and Bosch pro level drivers could be any better. So light it’s hard to explain. I use a 5ah battery which is probably 5 times weight of driver. So much better than my previous Bosch.

It’s a beast from a performance standpoint. Pair it with a 5ah battery and it just gets better. 55nm of my old cordless drill which I mainly used as a screwdriver. To over 250nm with this. Did my decking on a single charge. A bit pricey for a no battery unit but if you already have the batteries. Tis a mint purchase

Nothing has phased this tool so far. Very powerful. Lent to a friend who uses a Makita and he brought it back with a smile. Works fine on a 2.0Ah battery, but has been sat on a 5Ah mostly. Would definitely recommend having one of these around the house and garden.

If like me you’ve been using a regular drill to drill holes and then swap the bit over and use it as a screw driver, you should buy this impact driver. I’m a big Ryobi fan and have many products, this is possibly my favourite.

It’s first use was to screw in the top of a few fence panels that were lifting, this thing drove the screws in with ease, if it did struggle, a lift force and you feel the hammer action kick in driving the screw in deep without stripping the screw head or drill bit, which using a regular drill easily strips bits and screw heads.

Ive been finding more DIY jobs to do due to the quarantine, I’m using any excuse to get this driver out and it makes any drill work a breeze.

Very powerful. I was able to make holes in a special treatment steel pole with a step bit in it easily enough. I tried the same thing with the same bit in the one+ SDS drill and it didn’t make a dent.

STS was used for battleship armour plating during WWII. So there you go – if your home is being bombarded by a battleship, grab this drill and aim just below the water line. Just keep the body out of the water.

Golden Review Award: 33 From Our UsersAchet Avril 2019 avec batterie 4Ah.

    Conclusion :

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHad this impact driver for some time now and can highly recommend it. Very good power delivery but still controlled. Have used the tool for exerything from plasterboard screws to M10 bolts! Would suggest the 2.8Ah Ryobi battery or one of the cheap 5Ah 3rd party batteries as they weigh about the same. Use the best bits you can afford as cheap one do shatter due to the massive torque. This driver is so much better than a drill / driver at putting in screws & bolts. If you have a One+ collection, this tool makes even more sense.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersFirst things first, buy this driver you won’t regret it.

But in case you’d like more proof; here we go.
This was my first dedicated impact driver, having relied for years on my combi drill and getting fed up of wasting battery and time swapping bits over.

The quick release mechanism is awesome and provides entertainment when changing bits to see how far you can eject your current bit across the room. Personal record ~1m.

I was initially not sold on the need to press a button to swap between modes thinking it overly fancy and I was concerned I’d forget what mode I had left it in and end up driving a screw clear through the workpiece and bench into the ground (I’m exaggerating of course but it is damn torquey!). But the progress trigger is very good and controllable in any mode.

It is very powerful, scarily so in fact. The clutch is very loud in every mode and you can certainly feel it kicking (not as half baked as my old drill). But this does allow you to impress onlookers with a game of now you see the screw and now you don’t.

It comes with a number of attachments including an adapter for sockets. Sadly this doesn’t appeared to be hardened steel and whilst it has survived the light use on bolts so far I’ve opted for a dedicated set of suitable sockets.

Plenty of torque whether you’re using it on screws, bolts or like me as a last resort to find something with enough umph to put large holes in a van roof

(+)Very ergonomic shape, good balance between top and down side. Quite light.
Incredible power of 270nM with 4 gears make it very universal tool from little screws to heavy nuts.
(-) I dont know is a problem of tool or accu but sometimes loose power – you have to take out battery and put it back.
Place for mounting battery looks very vunerable with the cables outside.

Bought this impact driver to double up floor joists with hex head structural screws. Does the job effortlessly and is handy being a small size to make it easier to start the screws off in the driver as the space between my floor joists is very narrow. Has 4 torque settings and only need it on third setting for the job at hand. I use it with the 5ah battery so lasts ages and has plenty power.

Another Ryobi tool for the tool cabinet.

Appears to be good value (if you already have the One+ batteries and charger) compared to other similar brands.

Sturdy and well built, good 3 year warranty

Nice to have the different power settings, pity it doesn’t come with a set of impact bits and drills though.

I’ve got a deck and 3 garden buildings to construct in my new house so will see how well it performs and may well come back and amend my review if it doesn’t cut the mustard.

First use was using it to dismantle decking that had been down for 12 years. 80+ percent came out easy using the impact driver.

Used it to then rebuild a 6m square decking with new joists and boards, and on a single charge 6Ah battery I screwed in around 700 75mm decking screws.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’ve got Dewalt, Makita and Festool gear. I personally don’t like the Dewalt kit, I know everyone raves about it but I find it clunky, expensive and build quality does not reflect the high cost. Their support is also rubbish when something goes wrong. Had a battery failed and took a month to get it replaced under warranty. I was always a big fan of Makita however I think their newer kit lacks the robustness of old. However of the three brands I’ve mentioned it’s probably the one I would go to ….. until I tried Ryobi. Festool is lovely kit but eye watering expensive so a real personal choice whether you wish to justify the extra cost for something that’s refined and comfortable. So recently I tried Ryobi. I was drawn in by some positive reviews, the versatility of using the same battery across the range, and a good warranty. I’m impressed by the features, the price and in use it is light and lives up to the job. Registering the warranty was really easy. So far been a joy to use and I will definitely buy more.

I’ve purchased the Ryobi Impact Wrench & Folding LED Light over the last few months as well as 2 batteries, and thought it was time to add one of these to the growing collection as well.

I had used the impact wrench previously with a screwdriver bit to remove screws, and the bit kept jumping out of the screw head. Using this impact driver the screws buzz in and out absolutely perfectly, and require little to no force pushing the driver into the screw as the impacts do all the job for you.

I would absolutely recommend this bit of kit to everyone, I paid 60 but I’ve seen it sell for closer to 45 on here previously.

Next up on the list is the Ryobi drill set with 2 smaller batteries.

Has good heft to the grip, and the build quality is solid for the price point. This Ryobi brand is widely used in YouTube videos that I see of other DIY’ers and so far it has not disappointed me. The torque on this model is up to most DIY type tasks I should think. I’ve not owned an impact driver before and this one lives up to the solid reputation it seems to have online.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis drill is great. I have been landscaping my garden with sleeper and the sleeper screws I have been using have gone in with out issue with this driver. I have drylined a room with it and it’s ideal. If I am being picky the only issue is in the slow speed/lowest torque the rpm is really slow, but on thinner timbers/plasterboard the torque is ideal. I use the 5ah battery and the battery last a long time. This seems to perform better than my yellow branded one, only time will tell if it last as long. This is an excellent driver, that is value for money and I would not hesitate in recomending this.

I bought one of these a few months ago and have used it many times since then. Although it seemed generally good I was disappointed with the max power setting when driving in long screws (100mm+). This is because I “assumed” that “Deck Drive” = max power. I thought the tool was faulty at first but after googling I found a review here by Mike Nelson (Thanks Mike!) which described the different modes properly.

Deck Drive (obvious when you know!) is for driving decking screws in and does a very good job doing it. The max power setting is setting 3 which is one below deck drive. On this setting the driver almost effortlessly (and very quickly) screws just about anything in.

One of the few tools I have where I use all the power settings rather than just the max!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSolid build quality, feels comfortable in hand. Built in LED good for working in confined space where light is poor. I’m using with a official 5ah battery so battery life is excellent however means the drill becomes a little heavier than I’d like. I could use a smaller battery though so not a real problem. Also comes with a socket adapter which is a nice touch. Overall really pleased. 3 year guarantee so time will tell how it fairs.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFantastic impact driver, variable speed works really well.
Only need speed 1+2 most of the time.
Not had cause to use deck drive.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt’s the most powerful of all the impact drivers and I’ve used nearly all of them. It puts my colleagues Makita to shame, I just hope it turns out as good as their last model which is still working over 3 years on.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersSuperb. I had the old model (not brushless) this is more powerful, has variable power modes & excellent lighting when trigger is pulled.
I have the hilti 22v impact driver for work (company tools not mine) this impact driver is almost as good at that & it’s about 1/3 of the price.
I would say this is suitable for both trade & d.i.y.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis is my first Impact Screwdriver so I can’t really compare it with past experience of such a device.

The first thing I did find out is that to only use high quality bits as the high toque and impact action puts a very large load on them and cheap ones seem to shatter (a good reason also to wear protective glasses).

This unit like many in the Ryobi Range is described as a “Bare Tool” shipping with no battery or charger and assuming you already have some power or garden tools in the Ryobi 18v One+ Range it makes ownership more cost effective (plus not having a house full of different make batteries and chargers).

I already own two power drills, sander, strimmer, hedge trimmer and a pretty useless filament lamp plus 1x4Ah and 2×1.5Ah Lithium batteries so this suited me.

This tool I think is another first for me with a brushless motor (but is fan ventilated) and has four speed ranges / torque modes to pick from (set by a push button with LED indicator).

    Mode 1 – 0-650rpm – 50Nm
    Mode 2 – 0-1700rpm – 100Nm
    Mode 3 – 0-3000rpm – 270Nm
Mode 4 – Deck Drive – Automatic profile designed to drive a screw into softwood decking

It has of course a trigger control to first turn on the three LED work lights and then extra pressure starts the motor which has very good speed control on load and no load and fast breaking when the trigger is released.

As I mentioned, this is my first such device and I note the bits wobble a bit in the sprung loaded clutch.

The tool comes with one PZ2 bit and an adapter bit to accept 3/8″ sockets.

In operation it seems to work well, but I admit to being used using a more normal tool with a slipping clutch control for setting how tight I want the screws, this one just seems to stall assuming your screwdriver bit tip does not snap off first.

It has an instructional manual which is not very useful and a better explanation of Deck Drive would have been nice….

“DeckDrive is a mode programmed with a profile that suits driving decking screws. It has a soft start-up to catch the screw thread , the impact driver then accelerates up to full speed before slowing down when the screw is almost flush, to allow you to set screw head correctly. This profile is optimised for driving screws around 4.5 x 65mm into softwood decking and pressure treated pine joists without a pilot hole.

Hopefully I copied that error free…

I don’t enjoy DIY and I tend to take shortcuts where I can (or pay someone to do it!). This Ryobi impact screwdriver makes the task of bolting much easier. It is a power screwdriver that allows you to drill rather than hammer a bolt in place. It is comfortable to hold but the manual provided is not very good and patience and experimenting with the settings are needed to get the hang of it. This is an impressive tool: it looks good, feels great and does the job well. The only drawback I can think of is that you have to buy the battery and charger separately.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI had not previously used this type of impact driver the type I have used were those that you used with a hammer to get a stubborn bolt to move.
Draper Expert 22322 Impact Screwdriver Set (12-Piece)
This is effectively a high power screwdriver in drill format, nicely balanced and comfortable to hold. This however is just the driver and unless you already have a suitable battery and charger it can’t be used without additional expense.
    Ryobi BCL14181H ONE+ Fast Charger for All ONE+ Batteries, 18 V
Ryobi RB18L15 18v Cordless Lithium+ Ion Slim Battery with Fuel Gauge 1.5ah for ONE+ Compatible Tools
The instruction book as usual is less than helpful and it is well worth experimenting with the different settings before you use it in anger.
First the auto chuck which is easy to use just pull the outer sleeve to insert or remove a bit, but note it is spring loaded so make sure you hold the but when removing it or you wind up looking for it on the floor. One bit is supplied together with an adapter to allow the driver to be used with a 5/8″ socket. (This is stored in a separate plastic bag, easy to miss)
The chuck does not grip in the same manner as a drill check but clips onto the groove at the end of the bit, so will not grip double ended bits etc.
There are 3 different speed settings electronically selected with a button just above the battery the faster the speed the higher the torque however the speed up to the maximum for each setting is controlled by pressure on the trigger.
In addition to these three speed settings there is a 4th that is optimised for decking screws that has a slow soft start speeds up and then slows down for the final twist so it is easy to use and does not split the wood.
Forward and reverse settings are the conventional slide control as used on most drills.
There is also a couple of leds on the front to illuminate the area you are working on, I am not sure if this is more a gimmick than anything else, I have never found these lights much use on other tools but on this one like it or not, it does not turn off.
In all a very useful tool.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThere are a lot things I love about this, not least that it feels like a beautiful piece of engineering. It looks and feels great, the buttons are great, the battery arrangement (which has to be bought separately) is excellent, the lights are really neat, the range of speeds and torques is good, the chuck-free bit clamp is really neat – but perhaps too neat and there’s the problem. The bit rotates a long way off true, making the screw turn in a wonky fashion. I have tried removing the bit and replacing it and sometimes it will rotate properly while sometimes it won’t. There doesn’t seem to be any difference in the way it sits and I haven’t found a way to reliably get it right.

It can be used as a drill but you will need hexagonal drill bits. The normal round ones don’t fit in the chuck-free grip.
