Didn’t really know what to expect when we ordered this cctv camera but it’s absolutely faultless picture quality is superb quick and easy to set up we have it on the front of the house and are even thinking of getting another one for the back would highly recommend this camera to anyone
Ottimo acquisto. Funziona perfettamente.
Love this camera, I had looked around at other systems but they were out of our price range so we gave this one a go. Its absolutely brilliant! Picture quality amazing, person, vehicle and pet detection, I can set the zone, its got a brilliant flashlight and 2 way audio that is really clear. Was a bit concerned about how stable it would be just being a magnet but its excellent, easy set up in minutes. Definitely will consider buying another. Se
7/10 per tutto. Se vuoi qualcosa di pi devi spendere di pi.
Non ho dato 5 stelle perch a volte registra pure se non passa nessuno. Per il resto, ottima immagine, la batteria mi durata da sabato a luned.
Easy to install and set up. Picture quality is excellent. I purchased 2 one for the front and one for the back of my property. I have already recommended this to friends who have gone on to purchase same.
Davvero molto consigliato
Visione diurna e notturna eccellente
Corriere davvero Gentilissimo
This is a really good camera. Easy to set up and the daytime picture is great, night isn’t so great.
Motion secretion oddly temperamental – it didn’t pick up someone leaving the house and this had happened a few times.
Battery life isn’t the best and will from what I’m seeing, need charging every couple of weeks.
App is way to install and use.
It’s much better than blink so if you are between the two.this camera is far superior.
Able to watch my dog or baby as we call her, while at work. ( now I know how the vase on the front window cill keeps getting knocked over)
I love it, I can talk to my baby8 when in another room or at work. Brilliant xxx love it xxx
Very impressed with the quality of the camera and image quality. Easy to set up.
I bought two of these wireless cameras ..they’re so easy to put up …first download the Vicohome app and follow the introductions to marry the cameras to your phone then I took my step ladder outside to where I wanted to install them, screwed the brackets onto the walls then I introduced the cameras to the brackets as they are heavy duty magnets… they both stuck on immediately.. I adjusted them to point where I wanted them to be and they are now ready to go I had my first person come into my garden which was a delivery guy and straight away I had notifications on my phone that motion had been detected …I watched him on my phone leaving as directed by me putting my parcel into the shed ..second intruder was my son i tested out the communication speak and this alerted him to have a nose up at the camera the sound quality is good.,the one in the garage was alerted by the opening of the door when my son went in to test it for me ..later on I viewed the night vision on both ,my little cat decided to make an appearance in the garden and husband in the garage ..i have to say the night vision is excellent I really do recommend the camera it’s great I am very impressed. ..I had bought two cameras.. one for the garden and one in the garage to keep a close eye on my both our motorcycles..no faffing about with drilling through for cables ect .these are really fantastic cameras
In operation the camera gives very good 4MP 2K HD resolution images with a 130 degree field of view and more than acceptable night-time imaging. It can utilise both spotlight and siren, and has a two-way audio function.
Unlike Arlo, (which I would regard as the prime competitor) the G-Home offers onboard image storage through utilisation of an SD card (up to 128gb) and 7-day rolling Cloud storage.
The big advantage over the competition here is that this Cloud storage service is completely free. SO you can view from anywhere and download your imaging.
I like the G-Homa security camera; it gives good images day and night, has good motion detection, easy connectivity and easy access to the recorded images via SD and Cloud.
When comparing with the Arlo security camera systems the quality is very similar as is the range of options. The major difference lies not in the hardware so much as the manner in which each chooses to garner subscriptions. With Arlo one has to pay for Cloud storage and there is no SD alternative, so the free access to Cloud service and the SD slot is a very big advantage in this respect.
On the other hand, the G-Homa limits access to more detailed control over settings unless one gets a subscription. It would depend on one’s needs, but as I can personally set up my G-Homa system adequately with the settings available to me I’m happy with the G-Homa, but if I needed to tailor my system I’d stick with Arlo I reckon.
So… horses for courses I guess, and if this suits your needs I’m sure it will do a wonderful job – it may not ultimately quite match Arlo but it’s a very good quality image with great motion recognition so it’s a very close call.
Probably the best security camera I have used, and I have a lot. It’s really easy to install and operate via the app. The picture quality is outstanding. It’s battery operated so you can install it pretty much anywhere. The motion detection is excellent and has never recorded anything that isn’t a person. The battery lasts a long time and is charged by USB. The app is easy to use and will help you with everything. You can record to a local SD (so the image is less good than the live image) or to a cloud for a subscription. You can view live footage on your phone from anywhere. The intercom sound is excellent and people will definitely be able to hear you. The siren is painfully loud. It’s magnetically mounted so when it’s time to charge you can take it down easily.
All in all an excellent camera.
If you want a quick and easy-to-install home security camera, it’s pretty hard to beat this, if only because it’s rechargeable rather than mains-wired. That, of course, comes with the caveat that it will need demounting and charging every so often – a bit of a faff if you’ve installed it outside, as we have – but it’s a small price to pay for being able to install it with very little DIY experience, especially since the battery life claim is so decently long. In terms of fixing it up, all the necessary mount screws come along with the device.
To set up and use it, you’ll need to install the free VicoHome app (although why the app names have so little bearing on the device name still baffles me!). It all works very seamlessly and only takes a few minutes to get it working with your WiFi. In terms of recording footage, as all of these services, there’s a small subscription price to pay if you want data backed up directly to the Cloud, although at 2.49 for the basic service, it’s about as cheap as it gets. As we have a couple of cameras from different manufacturers, we’re not using the premium service – it gets a bit daft when you’re looking at paying multiple subscriptions – but the SD card option works fine, especially if the camera is mounted somewhere high or discreet. Obviously if the camera gets pinched, though, there goes any of your unsaved footage, so just be sure to save any important stuff regularly via the app.
Picture quality is superb in both daylight and nighttime modes, and motion detection / app AI works like a dream. The two-way audio is also great, and the on-board speaker has a decent volume and doesn’t sound too tinny (often an issue with small device speakers we’ve had in the past). At 90db, the alarm isn’t boomingly loud, but it’s annoying enough to cause a stir and (hopefully) alert any nearby neighbours to an unwanted presence on your property – it’s an excellent addition.
All bases covered, really, plus some nice extras – it’s a great piece of home security kit.
Got this to try out after needing a new camera to cover the back garden and thus far I can say I am satisfied with the product. The daytime video quality is superior to a Ring Video Doorbell 4 and comparable to the Arlo series of 2MP cameras, the night vision quality is also of comparable quality.
The app you use with the cameras is ok, not as good as you get with Ring but more than sufficient enough for everyday needs and the materials of construction seem to line up with the claims it is an all-weather camera — I don’t anticipate this failing anytime soon. The battery life seems to be doing ok, time will tell if it matches the claimed 180 days / per full charge but I think it might come close with some fine tuning of the detection settings.
With regards to the other features:
* The included siren feature I would say is sufficiently loud enough to deter intruders once triggered, and combined with the spotlight works well to check-in on any notifications if needed at night.
* The two-way talk feature is decent and understandable, with little transmission delay, if your home network has good signal (though as seems to be a running trend with these devices the quality of sound could be improved).
* The AI features of the camera seem to be working well and I’ve had very few misidentifications thus far using the device — again do note this is facing into a rear garden.
Overall a decent bit of kit and a potentially cheaper alternative to Ring / Blink / Arlo / etc. camera’s / ecosystem if you don’t fancy the on-going subscription fees for features / storage.
Important Notes:
* The way the camera attaches to the base mount means you will need to ideally mount the camera somewhere it won’t be easy to reach / see — as it can just be pulled off the base. I also couldn’t find anything about replacing the camera if it is stolen (such as with Ring products) — though I might have missed this.
* You need to provide your own memory card to enable the local storage; cloud storage is paid for long term. Note that if you don’t have the cloud storage and the camera is stolen you won’t be able to recover any images / video once they are outside your home Wi-Fi range.
* You need to download their propriety app to use the camera, the security of said app vs. the larger companies may not be as good — I personally haven’t been able to find out as much about this company as others in the field (such as Ring, Arlo, Simplisafe, etc.).
I received this item from the Amazon Vine Program.
The camera arrived in it’s retail box well packed and presented. The box includes:
1 x Security Camera
1 x Magnetic Base
1 x USB Cable
4 x Mounting Screws
1 x Instruction Manual
1 x Installation Precaution
I had to download the VicoHome: Security Camera App first and created a new account. After creating my account I turned on the camera so I can add it in the app. I just followed the prompts which is pretty straightforward and connect it to wifi.
Image is crisp and clear. I can also use the app to communicate using the camera. It has a micro SD card slot and can also store videos in cloud. Cloud storage rolls for 7 days and it does not require subscription.
Overall I am happy with it because it’s easy to set up & video quality if great too. It costs 79.99 at the time of this review. Price is reasonable for the quality of the camera.
I’ve been after a camera for the front door that doesn’t require a subscription to store the videos and I came across this one, although some of the features are subscription based. It’s bigger than I thought it would be, but that’s not a problem. The magnet the camera holds onto is incredibly strong and I have no worries about it falling off. At least it’s easy enough to take down to charge, although that makes it an easy target for theft too.
Connecting it to the wifi, I had no problems and it was done in a matter of minutes. The alarm isn’t that loud but should be enough to gain attention. Let’s put it this way, I set it off in my living room and didn’t feel the need to cover my ears. I always find brick work hard to drill into but once done, the camera was easy enough to put up. I used a drill bit 6 I think and it holds securely. The picture quality is excellent during the day and picks up moving items such as vehicles. At night, this works well too and even caught the movement of a large moth, or it could have been a small bat. The clarity of the speaker is fantastic and very clear. I could easily understand what was being said.
Registra immagini in movimento. Scheda SDI di memoria inseribile. Per me, ufficio, perfetta.
Easy to install, this G-Homa Wireless Security Camera – fixings included – could be placed outside near the front door being IP65 waterproof. Or it could be set up indoors dependent upon your requirements.
We set it up indoors in the hall to test it out. Motion activated, it recorded our every move to and from the kitchen. The pictures were very good and not at all lacking in definition.
For a system that appears really versatile and practical, this is affordably priced. If you have a relative with dementia who’s still able to live independently, this could be especially useful as the PIR sensor will send notifications to your smartphone whenever movement is detected – and you could talk to the person.
You can sound a 90 decibel alarm, there’s a motion activated spotlight or you can talk 2 ways – all dependent on how you wish to use the device to suit your own requirements.
This really is an excellent piece of kit. The camera is a mere 6.7×5.8×8.9cm in size, is USB rechargeable via the supplied charging cable and the ‘ball joint’ type magnetic sphere it adheres to the fixing plate which makes it extremely flexible and simple to position. Well designed, this wireless security camera is highly functional – and very good.
This is a great quality kit for the price, ideal for those who want a quick and easy security camera rather than some fancy security set that is complicated to set up.
Its a nice discreet looking camera and its clear to see its a camera, so if using it as a deterent then its sure to make people think twice.
Its can be used inside and outside, so for sheds and garages or to protect your house. Its waterproof so can be outside and not needing to be sheltered.
If you download the app, you can get message alerts from the motion sensor
It comes with a 30 day money back guarantee so if you find its not the right camera for you, contact the seller.
It has rolling cloud storage but you can also purchase an SD card if you want extra peace of mind.
It comes with a usb charger with up to 180 days per charge which is pretty good!
The current selling price is 79.99 which is pretty good for the quality of the camera.
Fopr a security cam this works well when up and running but it does take a short while to get it connected.
Although the imaging quality is good there are a couple of things I don’t like about this cam. The first is the fact that to use the app one must first download it from Google Play however, Google play installed it on my latest phone and not the one I was using. As, like many other devices, uses a dedicated app rather than a generic one like Home Life personal security is breached immediately as one has to sign into Google and Google immediately synchs all data and sends it to other devices. Next, one has to create an account using an email address so that’s another server holding my email address and me having no control over.
The second thing I don’t like is the audio recording is too low.
Now for the things I do like… This cam is good in daylight / lit areas and very good in infrared mode. Even when switching from infrared it records well in the dark and does pick up many colours. One can set an annoying alarm to go off if it detects motion but then if it wasn’t annoying it wouldn’t deter intruders. One can set it so that there’s a strobe like flashing light so having the alarm and the light going off should easily deter most intruders as amatuers always panic and run if they are detected by anything or anyone. It won’t stop a professional but will deter most.
There is a memory card slot and that is inside the case, which is easily removed by pressing the two buttons and pulling the case apart so this should be mounted quite high up to prevent intruders from switching the cam off and removing the memory card.
The cam is USB rechargeable which has it’s advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are that there’s no need for having to buy and change batteries or having to hard wire it. The disadvantage is that the cam will either need to be removed for recharging or it has to be placed somewhere near to an area where a power bank can be put. One solution is for a solar powered powerbank be connected if the cam is placed in a dry area. The powerbank could then be mounted alongside the cam so as to keep the cam fully charged.
I am recommending this security cam but only just as although the imaging quality is good, the audio isn’t so good, it doesn’t connect to generic apps so means adding more data to a phone and to get the app one has to log into Google which is more focused on sending all one’s phone data to unknown servers. If it wasn’t for the app I would probably have given this a 5* rating as the cam is good quality, it does a good job and it is good value
I ordered this security camera for home safety. It’s simple to install and use and has a great battery life.
The picture quality is better than expected and I like that it has a two way sound function.
While the magnetic bracket is convenient for taking it down to recharge, I’m still a bit concerned that it makes it easier to steal even if you could see the thief it wouldn’t be much help if they’ve concealed their face, it would still be easier to steal than if it was more firmly affixed.
Once the camera is affixed it stays in that same position and can’t tilt/pan so that’s something to bear in mind when your choosing what angle to install it.
I like the fact that you can choose between cloud storage or a memory card as I’m a bit wary of someone hacking the camera recordings.
Overall, it is a good budget security camera but I do still have some reservations about it. I would rate it 3.5 stars.
This little camera does a great job of enhancing your home security. Connection to wi-fi and to the app worked first time for me, with no trouble at all. The app takes you through the set up of the camera, which is very straightforward, and I instantly got an excellent quality picture in daylight. Once darkness fell, I checked the night vision – and it is amazing, the quality is unbelievable for the price of the camera, with everything and everyone easily recognisable.
The camera is solidly built and sits comfortably on its magnetic base. The base is easily mounted with a couple of screws. My concern is that because the camera is only attached by a magnet, it can easily be removed by anyone.
It is possible to record to an SD card (which isn’t supplied) or I think if you have a subscription, the footage can be stored remotely. Of course, for parents of young children this can also be used as a baby monitor, although I guess it’s a little expensive for that purpose.
The camera also has a built in speaker which is activated via the app.
Overall, then, I am really pleased with this camera and at a penny under 80, it represents excellent value. The only reason I have deducted a star is that I haven’t yet found a way of storing online footage for free – if that’s available and it’s just my error in not finding it, it is well deserving of a fifth star.
I have an older G-Homa camera so I was keen to see what (if any) improvements had been made on this newer version. I’m pleased to say it’s just as good in terms of camera recordings, but it feels a step up in build quality and hardware functionality.
PAIRING, APP & SUBSCRIPTIONS
I’m using Android and the Vico Home app can be found on the Google Play store. As I have a previous camera already connected to the app I wanted to see how easy it was to add an new camera. It was super simple. I clicked add camera, then scanned a QR code with the new camera and after a firmware update it was connected and visible in the app along with the other (older) camera. I was also surprised that I was given a free 30 day trial of the VicoHome Awareness Plus subscription service, (though you can still use the camera without subscribing). Below are the plan options and costs (at time of writing).
No plan : Free
You get 7 days (or upto 1GB) of cloud recordings but no Intelligent notifications (animals, packages etc) and you can’t set a recording activity zone.
Basic plan : 2.99 a month
You get 15 days (or upto 3Gb) of cloud recordings, Intelligent notifications (animals, packages etc) and you can set a recording activity zone.
Plus plan : 4.49 a month
You get 30 days (or upto 5Gb) of cloud recordings, Intelligent notifications (animals, packages etc) and you can set a recording activity zone.
Pro plan : 7.99 a month
You get 60 days (or upto 10Gb) of cloud recordings, Intelligent notifications (animals, packages etc) and you can set a recording activity zone.
You can get further discounts if you commit to paying for mutliple months in advance.
BUILD QUALITY
This camera feels better designed, an evolution if you like being more compact and there is a lot less length and in turn overhang when up on the wall. The rear of the camera detaches allowing access to the micro SD port (additionally protected from the elements by a rubber cover). This is a great option if you wish to also back up footage with a SD card. The charging point also is protected and battery life is very good.
FITTING
As briefly mentioned it’s a good compact size and the magnetic fixing and positioning is so much easy then the old ball joint type. It also makes it so much easy to adjust during setup so you can get the best angle/recording window. You are provided four wall screws and wall plugs (though the magnetic mount only requires two), and you also have the option of sticking it to a wall using the 3M sticker.
ISSUES & GRIPES
There’s not many but it’s a shame to see micro USB still being used for charging rather than USB C and audio recordings aren’t the clearest. I’ve also found that alert time (from motion to getting a notification on the app) is a fraction slower than I would like, but that could be down to many individual variables (eg Wifi signal strength, phone signal etc) so I cannot say this is an issue. I do still get alerted which is the main thing and we’re talking seconds rather than minutes in terms of delay time.
CONCLUSIONS
It may not have the cache of the bigger brands of security cameras out there, but from my perspective, you get an intuitive app, a very functional camera that’s built and priced well, and are also not tied into any contract/subscription service unless you want to.
This camera is a slick and modern looking camera which easily connects to the app and contains basic instructions on how to install and set up notifications etcs.
Video quality is great, and sensors also pick up body movements which have been good so far. You can tailor these a little to your needs so that you don’t get notifications constantly too.
The Camera attaches to its base with a strong magnet allowing for removal for recharging very quickly and easy. This however could be an issue as removal is so simple. The larger companies make it more difficult to remove for security. That way people don’t steal or remove the camera. So this is a strange decision but I guess you just need to install it in a place that’s not so easy to grab it.
With regards to storage, you have SD or cloud based storage. The cloud storage you need to be mindful of a small extra monthly charge for their service but it does appear to come with extra bits and bobs. It’s also free for the first 30 days.
Overall a nice addition to a home security system and cheaper than the larger brands. It has a good battery, easy to set up and the quality of the image is great.
I have three gardens. I already have a Ring doorbell on the front door, Ring Video on the back door to the garden and now this video camera has allowed me to put it on the rear timber fence so I can view the gate and side garden.
Makes you feel so secure and do easy to install.
In the box, you get 4 screws and rawl plugs, an Apple iPhone style pin, a charging cable, a base unit to apply to a glass surface without the screw attachment, and in my case, there are screw holes to attach the camera to the fence post adjacent to my gate and the video camera, which feels nice and heavy and though it’s plastic it seems very sturdy.
Set up is a breeze.
Connect the video unit to the cable to the USB plug-in the wall and charge the camera.
In the meantime locate the position for the camera base – mine is wood so screwed in. The base is magnetic and easily holds the camera and with the metal ball base, you can change the direction of the camera to its ideal position.
Download Vicohome app – to either Apple or Android phone or tablet. Allows live streaming and you can talk through the app. Set the appropriate zone – not dissimilar to the Ring App method.
Update firmware – you get a message on your phone if this is required.
Insert micro sd card in the camera.
The app will need connection details to your internet but is easy to follow and the camera makes bleeps when successfully attached. Couldn’t be easier.
You now have the option to record directly to the sd card and upload to the cloud – 30 days free trial, or steam to your phone.
I like it and was very surprised as to how easy this was to set up.
Feel even more secure now.
Place the videocamera on its base
After a few days you realise how good this camera is. It advises me there’s a pet in my garden and low and behold a cat walks across the screen. Superb.
Great multi use camera that can be used internally or externally.
It will require mounting externally but inside can be free standing if you chose. When mounting ensure you have the camera in the best location in terms of views as there is no option for the camera to be moved around. Pretty much like a ring four bell. The camera will remain static. Also as the camera has magnets to easily retrieve for charging I’d recommend having it out of standing reach as it could be stolen easily.
The camera does have a slot for an address card, you can also subscribe to the paid cloud.
Two way audio is included and would be expected for its price. The camera has 2K 4MP High Definition
All year round weather proof as per description so suitable in any external un shielded area.
The app is an app I already have on my smart phone and which is very easy to instal as is connecting to it. So obviously you’ll need internet for it to function.
All in all I’m very pleased with this camera. It has great functionality and reading the product page and instructions included with the camera will give you a good idea of what you are getting for your money.
I hope you found this review helpful
The talk of subscription services on top of security camera purchases irks me greatly; I was relieved to see this camera from G-Homa still offered local storage and recording. I admit I have not heard of G-Homa before but upon receiving and testing, this security camera competes with the pros in the security game. The camera’s wireless capability, quality, responsiveness, and local storage feature brings this in line with the price. Some features are locked off by a monthly fee, disappointingly, yet can all be accessed at a low price.
———————————————————————————————
Specifications:
This G-Homa camera is built for the outdoors, being IP-rated and using a sharp 2k resolution. If you want to avoid the fuss of wiring and potentially hiring a person to install this, a wireless camera like this is a wonderful convenience. The camera out of the box immediately feels weighty. For a fairly unknown brand, I feel reassured some good components have gone into making this. The description of this camera alone is promising- IP65 waterproof rated, 2k camera resolution, PIR motion sensor, two-way audio/speech and bundled AI/Cloud services. Most importantly, in my opinion, is the SD storage! I appreciate this feature from G-Homa to give users the ability to store footage locally themselves. This also means the user is not forced into yet another subscription service, it remains your choice.
———————————————————————————–
Setup:
I was pleased to find the setup was very straightforward. I first inserted my SD-card into the slot which has a reassuring rubber cap to protect against the weather. Now simply download the VicoHome app (available on iOS and Android) and turn on the camera, following the quick setup booklet. The app will prompt you to scan a QR code by using the security camera and get it connected to your home network. Once done, the device will be paired. You will get options to update the camera and format the SD card to begin storing recorded footage.
The camera can be used both indoors and outdoors, I took the latter option with ease. As this is a wireless camera, the fitting was simple, no wiring was needed! The box comes with a magnetic mounting ball. I was sceptical too, how well can a magnet hold a camera in place, especially outside? Impressively, the camera latches on strongly, only ever coming off by tugging the device from the magnetic ball. The clever magnetic mount still means you can rotate the camera at any angle. The box comes with wall plugs and screws to complete the whole drilled mounting outside, or you can use the sticky back if you’re wanting an even easier installation.
————————————————————————————-
App usage:
It is clear to see the VicoHome app, and G-Homa flexes their muscle in the AI category as a promising brand. The app does the basics: provide a live view with options to speak, listen, sound an alarm and even turn on a white light. From the middle, is the library to access all motion recorded footage, ranging in length according to the rate of the detected movement. In the settings, however, you find more in-depth settings. This includes motion sensitivity, various lighting settings (i.e. flashlight alarm and night-vision) and more significantly the smart AI options. Put simply, to access the camera’s AI analysis ability and customisable activity zones, the user will have to fork out for one of VicHome’s subscription services- the cheapest fortunately being 2.99 a month. The AI feature promises to identify footage between person, pet, vehicle and delivered packages. I can sympathise with the pricing, this cheapest option still includes these features, with 15-day cloud storage, matching competing camera subscriptions. You also get a free 30-trial of the premium features to determine if AI features are worth your cost. Beyond these subscription plans, the app, general motion-detection and local storage options can all be used freely.

Camera usage:
The camera is both sharp and responsive. I can see a clear resolution, day and night. I have seen 1080p security footage and can confidently say this camera’s 2K recording is superior. The footage is sharp enough to distinguish faces from even an 8ft height. Most impressively, the F2 aperture and wide-angle lens mean I can pick up my entire garden from one mounted spot, without losing resolution! The camera in power-saving mode means it only ever turns on when motion is detected, soon after sending an alert on the app. I have found the delay between detection and notification to be reasonable- about the same, around a 10-second delay, like other wireless cameras. I’ve also noticed recordings happen in 10-second bursts until no movement is detected. Usefully, these clips get collated into one longer stored/recorded motion detection event. As you would expect, the camera can be viewed in real-time, revealing again good light and sharpness during day and night. Each footage gets saved into the SD card and made playable through the app library.
I went to compare the camera’s motion detection as normal and with the premium features enabled. I will admit the premium AI detection makes notifications much more accurate and clear. While I got very few, if one or two false alerts in my quiet garden, the AI detection when turned on noticeably avoids such errors by focusing on people detection. I presume this would be a highly useful feature, if not essential, in a busy area occupied by more than humans. Moreover, the premium service offers users the ability to custom activity zones. This may be useful if you only wanted to detect one particular area in a passageway or front door. Fortunately, I only have this looking over the garden and do not mind receiving motion detection alerts from this whole area.

Durability:
In the few weeks since installation, I can report the camera has survived well outside. Through the sub-zero nights, the frosty morning and the dreary British rainfall, the camera lives on in good condition. The camera lens remains clear, despite enduring the continuous autumn rain and have not suffered any technical glitches. I am equally relieved about the battery life. Across the three weeks, since charging to 90%, the camera has only lost 7%; the battery usage will ultimately depend on the detection rate but for my limited use, this battery length seems strong.

Summary:
In all, the G-Homa wireless security camera competes very well with the top brands. The camera is built with high-end specifications in mind, with a sharp 2K camera, IP65 rating for outdoor use, lighting, alarm and remote app functionality. The major advantage I find to its competitors is the local storage via its micro-SD slot, a strength to non-fee-paying customers. The camera operates expectedly without a subscription, with full app control, detection and live feed. Smarter features, however, come with a price. The AI detection feature- i.e. identifying a person v. random movements, and changeable activity zones remain locked to their paid premium service (as low as 2.99).
Love this little security camera the wire-free side of it is ideal for me as I really can’t afford to pay a tradesman to come and set up a security system!
Simple to install and set up this little cam is a winner and the battery allegedly will last for 6 months!
You do need to install a micro SD card so you can backtrack on any “Events”
All in all a great little security camera at a reasonable? price of under (Just) 80!
This home security camera is seriously impressive and excellent value for money. Easy to set up (or so my husband informs me). The only disrupted had was when he disabled our BT hub just while he was setting the camera up. The bracket is strong and I have mine next to the front door.
The night vision and picture clarity is superb and it is a fantastic buy at under 80.00. Does everything I want it to and I highly recommend.
The specs for this are impressive. Co-incidentally, no doubt , it’s near-identical in appearance and function to my Arlo Pro4. It’s quite a lot bulkier and heavier than the Pro4, but that probably doesn’t matter.
I assumed this would be inferior in most respects. It isn’t. In fact it has a big benefit over Arlo in not requiring a Cloud subscription. A Cloud service is available if you want it, but for most people it probably makes more sense to install a microSD card for local storage — not possible with Arlo. Of course, if the camera is stolen or the card goes faulty, you lose your images unless you downloaded them to your phone first. It’s a shame you can’t choose to have clips sent to an FTP service as well as SD. (Netatmo Presence cameras, which I also have, offer microSD plus FTP/Dropbox/NAS).
VicoHome app setup and camera pairing were very simple, helped by good instructions, and then it updated the firmware. There’s no microSD card in the box, so you’ll have to install your own, if you want one. Buy a card designed for outdoor, looping use, such as “Sandisk High Endurance”, and put a tiny smear of synthetic ptfe grease on the terminals, e.g. Synco Super Lube (try auction sites as well as Amazon).
The app is intuitive in use. I haven’t found it necessary to look for instructions or help. There are quite a few options in Settings but fewer than those of the Arlo app. For example, you can’t adjust image brightness. If you want it to distinguish between people, vehicles, animals and packages, you have to pay for a subscription (as with Arlo). You’ll also have to pay if you want to define activity zones. The description suggests those features are included. They aren’t. One star deducted for the misleading description.
Alerts pop up promptly on my iPhone and Apple Watch, complete with thumbnails, when movement is detected. Stills are shown in the app, to help decide which clips are of interest. Arlo, by contrast, doesn’t send images to my Watch or even show thumbnails in the app unless I pay for their Cloud service.
You can ‘share’ clips or save them to phone storage. And you can set a ‘Do not disturb’ period of 30 mins, 2 hours or 12 hours, to pause alerts.
The angle of view, vertically and horizontally, is smaller than Arlo’s. There’s little to choose between them on image quality, but Arlo probably just about has the edge in daylight. At night, though, the G-Homa wins, hands-down. I should add that these are just simple, one-off tests. And, for the night shots, the Arlo’s spotlight provided the illumination you see — the G-Homa doesn’t have a spotlight.
As with all(?) battery cameras, there is no pre-recording. If something triggers the camera, recording starts a second or so later. Mains-powered cameras usually record constantly, so are able to show clips starting a few seconds before movement is triggered. That way, you don’t miss the beginning of the action. That’s certainly the way my Netatmo Presence cameras work. If mains power isn’t available, then of course battery cameras come into their own.
I won’t know about battery life and camera durability for some time, but it isn’t eating much battery and does seem well-built. At the current 80, you’ve little to lose. I would absolutely try G-Homa before investing in alternative battery cameras.
Me, I’ll stick with my Presence cameras, wherever I can get mains power. But I’ll replace the Arlo camera with the G-Homa — it offers similar image quality, local storage and those super-useful stills and thumbnails, for well under half the price. I just hope battery life and camera durability match Arlo. Four stars, then, and it would be five if they included person/animal/vehicle distinguishing and zone definition.
Long review. Sorry. I just hope it will help someone.
PS The video in the Amazon listing shows screw fitting of the camera to the base. The one I received is magnetic, same as Arlo.
This wireless camera was not only straight forward to set up it was a doddle to put up so what I did first was to down load the Vicohome app and followed the introductions to marry the camera to the phone then I took my step ladder outside then removed the strip on the back of the bracket and just stuck it onto the porch then I introduced the camera to the bracket as it a heavy duty magnet it just stuck on immediately I did adjust it to point where I wanted it to be and it is now ready to go I had my first person to come to the door and straight away I had notifications on my phone that motion had been detected and it was a Amazon delivery driver and I watched him on my phone leaving as directed by me putting my parcel into the porch I could have spoken as the sound quality is good but it might have spooked him so I decided not this time. I thought I would wait until it was dark before I left feed back and I must report the night vision is excellent I really do recommend the camera it’s great I am very impressed.
I am just updating this as alas the camera fell but lucky the fall was cushioned as it fell onto the shrub so this means definitely do screw the bracket on which I am doing right now but I am still impressed by the camera it’s working really well
This security camera is really good quality in every way. So good to get a truly wireless camera that has a decent battery life and works so well. This camera is good build quality and designed to have a good wide view of wherever you chose to position it. Setting up is very easy, if like me you have a BT smart hub 2 you will need to temporarily disable the 5gz channel, just until you set up, I have to do that with everything I set up. You just scan the QR code and follow the step-by-step instructions, once you are connected you can decide whether you want to use a micro SD card, using one will allow you to view recorded events, if you don’t use one you can only view live events, Micro SD cards are cheap so using one is the best option. You can mount the bracket just about anywhere; it can be used inside or outside. If you don’t want to use the bracket it can be free standing indoors.
You can set for motion sensing and get alerts; I wish I’d had one of these when I was looking after my Mum. It would be an ideal solution for keeping an eye on a parent with any cognitive imparity.
The image quality is amazing, the images are really clear, no problems if you want to see number plates of passing vehicles. Even at night the clarity is very good. You get two-way sound so would be good at a front door. It is ideal for pet owners; I can speak to my dog through this and reassure him if he is home alone. Another brilliant feature is if you use it outside it can be set to alert to human movement only, so you don’t get a notification every time a cat walks past.
Really good design, hardware and software is good and there is no lag. This really is an excellent camera.
Pretty decently priced security camera for what you get.
Extremely easy to install(no expert needed) and picture and sound good as well.
Does what it says on the tin. I review quite a few things and I know that people just want to know whether or not to buy it and I would say I’m really happy with it (and have used it for a few months before making the review).
I would happily recommend this to others looking for one.
This is a good camera.
Great picture quality and night vision.
I haven’t really noticed much difference in the trigger sensitivity levels – all of them seem to pick up the same amount of movement (i.e. the low setting still picks up every cat or leaf that moves in front of the camera).
I think the app lets it down. It’s a bit naff. It really misses not being able to connect to Smart Home apps like Google Home or Alexa. If they do that in the future, then this will be a brilliant security camera. But the app and its connectivity are the only reason this drops a star for me.
I love the very strong magnet mounting (although I do wonder about the thing being stolen – but at least I’ll be able to see who did it!).
The battery lasts ages – It’s still on 76% after a week from its 1st charge.
Also, a bit of a shame that an SD card isn’t included – they are with so many other devices nowadays because they’re so cheap. But I bought one for ~5 and it’s well worth it.
If the app gets upgraded to connect to smart homes, this will be excellent value for money. It’s still very good.
You simply get it out of the box and it has easy to follow instructions, the app is fast and straight forward. Excellent size & weight allowing external mounting without any wires and complications, and this was perfect.
Suitable for indoors or outside (it’s IP65 waterproof spec). There is no facility for controlling the camera movement (pan and tilt) from the phone, so it must be manually fixed at the desired viewing angle when it is mounted.
The great attraction is its wire free facility whereby it has an internal battery which, on a full charge, will provide 6 months use. This is useful when a power cable is either not desirable or not possible due its location.
The recording function will require a micro SD card (max 128GB) which is not included, and will record when prompted, and also when in motion activation mode.
Image quality is decent, but I wouldn’t say outstanding. I was deeply impressed by the clarity and detail of daylight and infrared night vision video sources. It also has 2-way audio so you can actually speak to someone near the camera remotely through the app.
In use you can you can receive real-time motion alerts pushed to mobile phone or send snapshots to email. There is a built-in microphone, which allows you to communicate with your visitor or intruder and even has a siren that can be set to trigger on motion detection.
In summary it’s a great camera with endless possibilities for remote positioning away from a power source, but remember that it must remain within WiFi range and the battery will eventually need re-charging.
