A great sound bar with a fantastic wireless subwoofer . The sound is crisp and detailed with a smooth and heavy bass effect. Easy to set up with a nice simple remote control. Bass & treble levels are adjustable .

So we have a 5 year old JBL 5.1 sound system with 4K pass through.

We upgraded out TV to an Oled C1 with Dolby atmos and wanted a sound bar to match.

We paid over 600 for the JBL so wasn’t expecting for this Sharp unit to blow the JBL out of the water but it has done just that!

I admit that non Dolby the sound can be a little out with some shows, but a few adjustments and it’s all good. Any show or movie with atmos then it is just amazing.

I got this soundbar on sale to use in my bedroom for use with a HiSense U7QF, an Nvidia Shield Pro and an Xbox Series S. Out of the box, I was impressed with the build quality and heft to the soundbar and subwoofer, it just looks and feels really premium with matte black finish, metal grille and silver side panels. Setting up the HT-SBW460 was an absolute breeze using the 4k passthrough HDMI ports and it fits just perfectly under the TV without impeding the view.

My initial impression upon first listen was that the bass was far too prominent and overwhelms the trebles and mids. Adjusting the level of bass was a simple press off a button but here is my main frustration with this soundbar, it forgets settings every time it powers off. I checked Sharp’s website to see if there were any firmware updates that could be performed via usb to correct the issue but sadly there are none which is disappointing given that this soundbar was released back in June 2020. If the bass is too much, you can always follow the tech savvy method of putting a microfibre cloth or two in the reflex port at the back of the subwoofer to dampen it down.

Now, having said all that, let’s get to the good stuff. After turning the bass way down, I decided to watch some content with Dolby Atmos sound and I have to say that I was hugely impressed with the performance. I know that it’s a 3.1 soundbar with no upfiring speakers but it was an amazingly immersive experience that added to the enjoyment of the movie. Dialogue was crystal clear thanks to the centre channel speakers even with explosions etc happening in the background so you’ll never struggle to hear voices on screen ever again as the sound is rich with a presence and clarity that belies its size & price. It is astounding how much more detail you can pick up and you really do become aware of where sound is coming from in relation to the screen.

As for gaming, I thought that the cars in Forza Horizon 5 sounded good before but now with Dolby Atmos they sound utterly amazing. It’s the little things too, like how you can tell if the car trying to overtake you is coming up on your left on your left or right before you even see it. I tested out Resident Evil 2 next and this soundbar really enhances the tense atmosphere because when you hear Mr X’s footsteps coming your way it is so unsettling!

The sound presets are good and each serves the appropriate purpose well. The surround sound feature works fantastically well for regular audio content and adds depth and space to what would ordinarily be quite mundane sound. All in all, I’ve been blown away by the quality and value of the HT-SBW460 and if it wasn’t for the resetting issue, I’d buy another one for the living room (I’m currently considering getting a Majority Sierra Plus for that).

Looked at a few different soundbars but glad I picked this one. I use it purely for tv use so can only comment on that basis. It sounds fantastic, the bass is superb and adds life to what you are watching. Super easy to set up, make sure you have a ” HDMI ARC socket on your TV as this is where it goes into if you are using the HDMI as your preferred connection port. I would recommend this product without hesitation it’s grea

Firstly the sound quality is very good a bit to much bass from sub soon solved by stuffing bass port with cloth sound is very clear good atmos effect too only prob is every time you change input or turn on the presets default so you have to keep changing bass treble every time a bit annoying it is good having 2 full pass through hdmi inputs dolby vision hdr no probs having connected apple tv box no issues works well remote ok i guess cld do with info button on remote music is also very good on this plus surround is decent on movies i wld turn it off with music tho but good treble control very clear sound

At this price this soundbar with Dolby Atmos is the best one to go for it. I’m loving it. Base is good. Sound quality is like you hear it in Theater.

Choose this if you are reviewing this now.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFor background I had a decent Sony soundbar with sub which I’d had for years. It lacked a few new newer features and although I really don’t like a Sony stuff generally this one sounded the best when I bought it but the sub died so I needed something new.

Decided on this Sharp one and going from something I loved to something after doing all of my research I really hated and was very close to sending back, read the rest though.

The audio seemed to come from the bar and then the bass would seem to flicker from the sub back and forth to the bar, it really made the sound to feel like it was coming from 2 places where as bass should be non-directional.

As I said I was close to sending it back but remembered what I’d seen on some audiophile forums in the past, about breaking in a speaker to get the best out of it and some take a while.

Well 7 months on I absolutely love it, have done for a good few months. No longer seems like different frequencies are coming from one or the other. It just needed breaking in.

I probably could have done it a lot faster if I had used it more but don’t take the first thing you hear as what you’re going to get. It will improve and sound great.

A great soundbar but I wouldn’t recommend it for large open spaces mostly cause there are no up firing speakers for spacial surround. However in bedrooms or smaller lounges it’s perfect & the spacial sound is brilliant. 4 from me.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersRecently switched to this when my old Samsung 5.1 speakers finally gave up the ghost. Although slightly apprehensive, I decided to move to a soundbar instead of another 5.1 set on the basis that a) it would be easier to install and set up b) wouldn’t need cables draped all around the living room and c) would have Dolby Atmos. Having looked at a number of reviews I decided to give the Sharp SBW460 a try. Having now used it for a month or so I have to say I’ve been very happy with it overall – the sound quality is excellent, as good as I had hoped it might be and much better than I had feared it could be. The volume and bass are ferocious but not overpowering and the sound is crystal clear. Even speech is slightly more audible than on my previous set. Watching Blade Runner 2049 or Saving Private Ryan with it has been like a whole new experience. Setting it up was extremely easy, and the subwoofer paired to the soundbar first time simply by plugging them both in and switching them on – nothing else was required and it happened pretty much instantly. Why haven’t I given it five stars? Well, there are a couple of minor niggles which have forced me to take one off, though it’s possible they may be down to my own set up and other people may not experience them in which case feel free to add a fifth star. The first is that I can’t get the Dolby Atmos to work. Having spent several hours trying to work out what the problem was I eventually discovered that most Samsung tvs don’t support Atmos – even top of the range ones bought within the last few years (which ours is). Obviously that isn’t the soundbar’s fault but it does mean I haven’t been able to test that element out. Secondly, the bar are prone to some kind of occasional interference that causes a very loud, distored noise to come out of the bar at random, usually when changing channels/programs or pausing/unpausing something. It’s a horribly annoying noise and the only way to stop it is to stop what you’re watching and restarting. I’d say it does it at least once a day, often several times. As I said, this could just be a problem with my set up, and it isn’t a big enough problem for me to want to change the soundbar (particularly as it sounds so good) but it is enough to make me want to deduct a star from it. So I have.

Despite a price that puts it firmly at the lower end of the market (well under 300 at time of writing) this sound bar from Sharp is an excellent piece of kit.
It’s easy to set up, with the sub woofer connecting via bluetooth to the sound bar so as to provide maximum options for placement.
You can easily connect wirelessly to a phone or tablet for music streaming or to the TV for watching movies. Set up is done in minutes and it looks pretty good too!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent soundbar for the money, clear accurate sound. The subwoofer is the only thing that I don’t totally like, crossover frequency is 130hz, this makes it only come in on very low frequencies. Apart from that great.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have a comparable soundbar with a TV in another room and I was very interested to see how this Sharp soundbar would sound.
Firstly, it was very easy to set and it looked great with my TV. Once set up and connected I was very impressed with the powerful cinema style sound that I was getting from it.
Having a wireless subwoofer was also a bonus, as was the bluetooth connection and the clear LED display on the unit.
I would highly recommend this Sharp soundbar and it should please everyone.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is a fantastic sound system. First, and most importantly, the sound quality is superb, filling up the room with clear music and a superb easily controlled base. It takes seconds to set up up. The subwoofer links by blue tooth to the sound bar automatically, and it was incredibly easy to pair my phone with the system – we had music within a couple of minutes of unboxing.

There are no inconvenient wires between the subwoofer and the sound bar – the link is bluetooth, and it is incredibly easy to link to the TV by HDMI, which gives the Dolby Atmos surround sound when watching anything – sports sound better, movies are amazing..

I would have loved to give you a sound clip – but the recording on my phone does not do the sound quality proper justice. Instead I will post some photographs to show what a great looking piece of kit this is.

It is super easy to control by remote, but also has control buttons on one of the ends – just in case you can’t find the remote or run out of batteries.

I am absolutely delighted with this high quality way to play music and to massively enhance the sound quality from the TV

Superb sound and so easy to set up and to use
