I needed to replace my old microwave and went for this one, the price was extremely good, having tried out various options I have found it produces perfectly cooked food. Having the option to use various preprogrammed makes it very versatile and perform perfectly. It produces perfectly hot food on various powers. The stainless steel finish means it fits into the kitchen decor easily.

Purchased this for my 89 years old mum who’s old 1980’s microwave gave up the ghost
So she wanted a manual microwave which had a bigger volume -this model was perfect for her needs.

The heating levels are effective. My only issue is with the timer. It’s a low-tech dial which has to be turned manually and it is virtually impossible to determine any duration under one minute. As a result you can’t just set it for 30 seconds and walk away. You must remain on guard not to over heat your food.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersThis review is for the
SHARP YC-MS01U-B Compact 20 Litre 800W Manual control Microwave, 5 power levels, defrost function, LED cavity light – Black
Pros -1) Easy to use – just set the power and timer knobs. Theses are manual controls, not electronic so hopefully will prove reliable in the long term. If you like “uncomplicated” then this is for you.
    2) Compact size so ideal in a smaller environment.
    3) Appears well made and looks good.
    4) Value for money.

Cons – 1) Internal light only comes on when cooking. All other times it is off.
    2) Supplied with a Quick Start Guide leaflet which is very basic. You have to download a more comprehensive leaflet on-line.
    3) No warranty details apart from ” Take unit to a dealer with proof of purchase”.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFor those like myself who only want a microwave with simple controls then this machine is ideal. A good internal capacity with plenty of power. I am intelligent enough to know when my spaghetti Bolognese is cooked or my cup of coffee is hot enough so why confuse things with more buttons.
There isn’t much to go wrong in it’s design so I should get a few years out of it. So far it’s been excellent.

Very happy with the microwave. Bought as a replacement for a previous Sharpe microwave. This is an improvement in that it has a clock and is just as easy to operate

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have no problem with the item but am annoyed about the delivery by Amazon mainly because they did not ring my bell and left the item outside the front door of my block of flats (which is fine when I’m not in, but when I am I expect to be buzzed) I then had to man handle it up a flight of stairs and it was very heavy so I’m not overly impressed by this!

It’s ok, I wanted a basic microwave and it is but I should have checked the description better because I took it for granted it would have a light on when you open the door and the control knob makes it hard to set seconds. But otherwise it works ok.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWanted a similar microwave to the one I was replacing and found this as the same make only slightly smaller. It holds a large dinner plate so perfect for us. Controls are very easy to use and clear. We wanted one with seconds as some things we warm up only need 20 seconds and some microwaves only do minutes and that’s to long. We have now used it for four weeks and have no complaints as working well.

  14. WalterChadwick says:

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersExcellent and easy to use microwave, with good volume and power range. It is straightforward to use. My only complaint is that the duration of the operation is difficult to set accurately as the controls are simple rotating knobs with no numerical digital gauges. The door is simply pulled to open, so no push button. However, these are the things that makes it easy to use.
So if you like things simple and easy to use, this may be one to consider.
Not the cheapest, but a good reliable brand – this is the second of this make that I have used. Its been in use now for about 6 weeks and so far so good.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe delivery was fine; it is a good product, however it is let down by the inside plate which barely slots into place and does come off regularly, unless I was given the wrong one for the product, hence less than 5 stars.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis replaced a more expensive Panasonic which eventually failed after 20 years. It is unfair to compare the two but I cannot help it. The Panasonic was larger and pretty well all stainless steel whereas the Sharp is not . The inside is painted in a dark blue – a lighter colour would have been better.
It looks smart and certainly does the job so I would recommend i

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am still getting used to it at the moment because it seems to be more powerful than my old one, it seems to be a good easy to use microwave, I use it for cooking vegetables, reheating and starting food off prior to the oven or air fryer. It does what I want and at reasonable price, no complaints off me.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGood size and ideal for small family. More powerful than I thought and heats up food far more quickly than my old microwave. Taken 1 point from review as the start button can sometimes be a bit fussy to operate if you don’t press it dead centre.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSmaller in size and slightly lighter in weight. Quiet and not so load ping. Light only comes on when in use so you can leave the door open to dry out the inside. Its very dark so cant see any splashes on the inside. Always cover food to avoid moisture build up.
I think it had been dropped as it doesn’t stand flat. It’s working and I have already waited 5 weeks for it. Nothing fancy basic microwave.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe black one lasted me around about 3 years due too leaving the door open after cooking and the back window opened a tad. I add too put it out for scrap yesterday minus the plug. As it was extremely dangerous too use and was turning into a rust bucket inside. A few weeks before I noticed brown specks. I guessed it was Rust on the newspaper it was standing on, on the kitchen table. I was still cooking food it upto a week before. It looked ok inside. I didn’t notice any signs of rust appearing. Tuesday it didn’t. Cook my microwave oven readymade macaroni cheese dish. It seemed too be cold. Hot underneath the plastic dish. And I don’t know about the small fly that fled in beforehand. Source me leave the door open a tad after cooking too let the steam dissipate. It saves you keep buying a new microwave oven every 12 months, or less. Found this method out by accident. Nothings ever mentioned in the microwave instructions books about this old method of mine. I Even posted it on Facebook.

Innocuous build and design, so it’s unobtrusive, and same size as the one it replaces. However, unlike its predecessor it’s rather over-engineered, and the display is very poor – it really should be back-lit. However, for the present it’s good value for money.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis one has it is a metal no grill one, and it is really easy to clean it properly without any resistance/corner that stop you to clean it up. It is going to have almost two years already!!. The power (800W) looks more like 900W or 1.000W.
It is big enough to put a usual big plate inside and tall enough to get a full chicken (but a bit tight to put also a microwave cover on the big ones).
The time control a bit weird at first, but you get the trick very soon.

It works and is easy to use. I personally don’t like that the metal case can move out of position when carrying this product. Also it makes a terrible slam sound closing the door. When running it’s quite noisy.

We wanted a no fuss microwave with straight forward dials, not fancy keypads etc. This fits the bill nicely. Several sizes to choose from including the one we wanted, works a treat, so simple. We showed it to our elderly parents, who bought one too, then my brother also bought one & all parties are happy. If you want a straight forward, no fuss microwave from a name you can trust, this one has got to be worth a try.

This was a replacement for an earlier model Sharp microwave which cooked quickly and evenly. Unfortunately a heavy window mesh and inadequate light made it impossible to monitor food being cooked so one couldn’t see whether milk was boiling over. It also had a clock which ran slow and couldn’t be read in bright light. This model solves these problems with a much brighter light (now LED) and an accurate and visible in all lighting clock/timer in a nice shade of blue. Cooking performance can’t be faulted.

It’s straightforward to use although the touch pad controls can be temperamental. Also it doesn’t feel as solid as our previous microwave (a 900 watt DeLonghi) on which the door closed quietly but with a reassuring ‘clunk’, whereas the Sharp door closes with a very loud metallic ‘slam’ sound and the turntable is noisier. (I suspect both these issues are due to the metallic construction). Having said that, it cooks quickly and evenly and has a much larger interior enabling it’s use for larger quantities and bigger cookware.
It still represents excellent value for money and would be ideal for the larger household.

A great microwave, my only critique is that it’s quite small width wise, it will fit a dinner plate in, but you can’t have any overhangs at all.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThink it is a eco feature but often have to open and close the door to be able to get a response from button presses.

Also the glass plate is prone to popping out of alignment.

But does the job you need it for.

Smaller than my previous one which was 900 watt, I opted for this as many of the microwave food my son likes is down on the box to cook at 800 watt, so this is ideal. Saves having to work out the wattage on an older model. Slowly getting used to using it, slightly more complicated compared to my previous one. But I’m sure I will beat it before long. This model does popcorn which I have’nt tried yet, jacket potatoes done to perfection, hot drinks and even a plate warming setting. Looking forward to seeing what else it can do.

There was an uncovered pointy bit (I think it was the end of a screw) underneath mine. I discovered this when it scratched my new kitchen worktop when I put it down, so I was not impressed by the quality. Other than that, the dial seems a bit inexact for short times and once or twice has cut out early on these (which tend to be what I use my microwave for most days – pretty much anything under a minute seems ropey).

That being said, my last microwave at a similar (cheap) price point was a Daewoo and while that one had nifty controls and a digital timer it also pretty quickly started cutting out due to overheating whenever I tried to cook something from frozen or half cook baked potatoes and wouldn’t restart till it cooled down – it didn’t last long before this started either! I would take a bit of imprecision over that any day (hopefully this one will last better – although it has just been a month so far). It has worked pretty well otherwise, and looks nice sitting in the corner of my (scratched :,() kitchen counter.
