They are really good quality, the only downside is that they’re not adjustable at the rear. They’re slightly too large to sit snuggly around the back of my head. My fix will be to tie some string around them and my helmet to prevent any potential slippage.

Not testing in arduous conditions ye

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter losing 60% hearing in my middle ear after radiotherapy I thought I would give these a try. Well I can now hear heavy metal again in both ears as it bypasses that part and these are louder than I thought they would be. The selling point of being able to hear your surroundings works if you are listening quietly but as soon as you turn them up loud it does still drown out most external noise. I would recommend these as they are comfortable and give a good sound quality.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI have suffered from conductive hearing loss in the left ear since I was born. This means the bones in my middle ear don’t work properly and the sound doesn’t transmit, making me effectively deaf on that side. With these headphones I can hear in true stereo for the first time in my life. They are incredible! Highly recommended for anyone like me with conductive hearing loss.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersCan’t fault these in any way. Sound quality is in point for what they are, they’ve never slipped off and I never have to adjust them which is amazing as I’m a long distance runner. Can answer calls by simply pushing a button on the side and the mic is flawless. I have that much confidence with them I’m using them at the London marathon. Would definitely recommend.

    Great headphones for running
How did I manage with in ear headphones before? These allow me to hear as I run.
Both music and voice work well
Obviously, these aren’t as loud as in ear headphones and background noise (i.e. cars) is clearly audible but that’s the point.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSound is good. Like I said in the title the band that goes around the back for your head can be annoying at times. Fine when walking or running but sometimes if wearing something with a hood it pushes against this band and make it uncomfortable. Also if sat on the sofa and head pushes against a cushion it’s annoying. Use for walking/ running most so normally it’s good

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThis is a great product. I bought this for several reasons. Firstly, I don’t find in-ear buds fit me well or securely and secondly I find being “shut-out” from surrounding sounds when outside quite disconcerting.

This device solves both these problems. It is extremely comfortable, fitting over my ears (with spectacles) very easily. It doesn’t move when I walk/run and the band at the back sits nicely behind my head without really noticing it (except in a hooded coat when it does catch). I cannot fault this for these features at all.

What I have deducted a star for, is the sound quality. The concept of these is “bone transmission” I actually think i would name these “near-ear speakers”. I’m not convinced how much sound does actually resonate through your bone, but feel the sounds is just sourced from outside your ear. This does mean you don’t have the ear canal occluded, so this does make it more comfortable and you can still hear outside noise reasonably well.

However, the sound quality is not really directly comparable to ear buds. The range is quite poor and “thin” sounding. You can avoid this by having the volume louder, but then you do lose your peripheral awareness of other sounds. I suspect this is NOT a fault of these headphones, but more the nature of their concept.

For spoken word audio these are perfect so I shall be retaining these for their niche use outside, but they won’t be replacing my other buds or cans for genuine music appreciation.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI can see why people like this type of headphone for comfort and the ability to hear your surroundings eg when walking. The disadvantage is that you can hear your surroundings (of course) all the time and the technology limits the bass. There is no comparison to proper headphones or ear buds for music but they are good for the audio books and podcasts.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe headphones are great, and being able to move around while listening to stuff on my phone is a liberation. But I wear hearing aids and glasses! So the over the ear bit of the phones makes it three things jostling for space over my poor ear lobes. I can’t get the headphones in a comfortable place, and end up with a pain from the pressure of the phones on the hearing aid.
However. If I wear the phones with out hearing aids, and glasses, they are brilliant.

They take of getting use to, to start off they mand me feel a bit sick and dizzy but have persisted wearing them for longer each time.
This is the reason the wife couldn’t wear hers so sent them back.
The sound is great set them a little lower so can here the traffic while walking the dogs but the road, and other users of the path way unlike the ones you sticking in uour ears and are obvious to other people and cyclest .
The volume controls are easy to use .
Overall there a good and better than sticking things in your ears

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought these headphones as a gift for a female friend who wanted to feel a bit safer running in the city. She absolutely loves them – says they’re comfortable, and the sound plays well whilst allowing you to still hear what’s going on around you. She also likes that you can just hang them around your neck when you’re not using them, meaning you don’t lose one headphone like you can easily do when you’ve got wireless in-ear ones.

I tried it as well to see what the sound was like and it is bizarre how you can hear it so clearly without anyone around you hearing it too. I read some reviews about how if you were on the tube people around you might hear it – I personally don’t agree about that. They’re practically silent! Obviously the bass is not the same as for over-ear or in-ear headphones, but most people won’t be buying it for the highest quality sound, more for the fact that you can still hear what’s going on around you.

The packaging was also great and there’s a little pouch to keep the headphones in when they’re not being used. So it makes a great gift, and I’ll be buying one for my partner who is also a runner.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI got these as I find in and over ear headphones uncomfortable after about an hour so though I’d try these. Personally I love them! The audio quality is god enough for me, though if you’re an audiophile it probably wouldn’t be. They are comfortable and battery has been lasting really well. I like tjatvi can still hear things and people around me at work and the side button makes pausing, slipping a track and ending a call very easy. The call function works really well, my voice came through clearly to mt partner without too much background noise, better than the Bluetooth in my car.

I bought these as an alternative to Apples ear buds after seeing a friend using them. My order arrived the next day and I must admit the instruction set up manual was a bit of a hassle trying to set them up trying to identify which was what but I finally got there in the end and Hey Presto the WiFi connectivity works superbly. The sound quality is fine on both my IPhone, IPad and even on my TV! for my usage.
I am an oldie and I really do like this out of ear experience preferring them to my other ear buds and headphones that I have. These are comfortable to wear, lightweight and a very well made product. Good buy and I am a happy

Excellent headset. Could never wear anything while running as they would always fall out. These never move from position and work really well. The fact to you are aware of other noises is the main reason I bought these and they worked perfectly. I tend to sweat alot from my head and these havent been effected at all with this either.

These are a brilliant pair of earphones! Bought for my OH as he suffers with hot ears and doesn’t like earbuds or phones that cover his ears to make them sweat. These solve ALL that and more. Sound is really good, you might compromise on a bit of base, but that’s it. Didn’t rate the noise cancellation as that’s not what they’re designed for. You can hear outside of them should you need too. OH was so impressed he bought some for me! Long battery time and quick to charge. Would highly recommend

Shokz are so much more comfortable than other cheaper brands and for that alone they are worth the prize. Sound quality is as you would expect but what really makes the difference is the comfort. For ages I have ran without listening to anything because I like to be able to hear my surroundings but the runs were starting to get a bit boring. I bought these as I couldn’t really afford the OpenRun version but I was worried they wouldn’t be quite up to scratch. I couldn’t be more wrong. I listen to podcasts rather than music so I can’t comment on the music but the sound for the podcast was great. A lot of people have said they’re big round the back, which they are, but once they were on you couldn’t tell they were big and they didn’t wobble or anything. I wore them comfortably with a cap. Highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI compare this headphones with higher grade aeropex and openrun pro which I also own.

Disadvantages: The sound fidelity is worse but passable, I listen to podcasts and audiobooks mostly and am no audiophile so sound-wise they are OK for me – openrun pro are way ahead – mind the pro model is really a hybrid (not pure bone conduction). They are heavier but its not such a big deal for comfort, but they are shaped less comfortably around ears, I feel them unlike with openrun pro which are resting very gently I almost don’t notice. Battery life is bit shorter but I get nominal listening time from them and don’t find the battery life too short

Now advantages: sturdy, they feel stronger then aeropex which I had various durability issues in the past, they have much better noise cancellation as phone/computer headset then aeropex, comparable with openrun pro, I like the multifunction button better it is more sturdy giving better control with rewind/forward function. Last but not least USB-C charging this is main selling point for me with this model – I no longer have to carry separate cable for them.

I am quite pleased with them for daily use in office and home, they work unreal with LG OLED tv for surround affect (like any open ear). For sports I would still choose openrun or openrun pro, Pro have best sound quality alas with some leakage – they combine bone conduction with open speakers for high frequency.

Yeah, this is the TLDR review 🙂

I wasn’t looking but ran across these bone-conducting headphones and was a little skeptical even though I understood the concept and it seemed solid. I vacillated between options at several different price points before deciding to start roughly in the middle. Also, this brand has a pretty solid reputation from what I’ve found. I found the idea interesting, and I chose these over a couple of others in the same price range.

I am a music composer and producer and I have a studio in my home, so I’m always looking for different ways of auditioning my compositions in different environments and on different equipment, so I basically saw these as just another way to hear how my productions sound. I also like to use binaural beats and thought this would be a good option (assuming they worked well enough) and I can do that while keeping my ears open to my surroundings.

Now, I always pay attention to packaging, even though I realize some manufacturers try to be slick and put a lot into the packaging and not much into the product. Nevertheless, these come in a nice box with a quality feel to it, so that was the initial positive. If you’re like me and have never seen this type of headphone before, you’ll probably think they look a little weird, as I did. They have a nice, quality feel to them and seem sturdily built. I got the blue ones, because of the blue strip I think looks cool, but I didn’t realize they come with several other alternative strips so you can have a different decorative design if you like.

One thing I worried about, and it turns out I needn’t have, is how much pressure they would apply on the area where they are designed to sit, which is right in front of your ear canal. Too much pressure there would likely cause headaches. The pressure is barely noticeable within a moment or two of putting them on. The frame between the two ‘speakers’ is rigid titanium so it keeps a permanent curl that maintains enough pressure to be able to hear them consistently no matter how you move your head. That frame though, will sometimes hit the collar of my shirt and change the angle and pressure of the pads, but not by much and not enough to negatively affect the overall sound to an unacceptable degree, and least to me.

    And speaking of sound…

They sound amazingly good considering how they work. I thought bass would be too thin but it’s not. It’s not going to rattle your chest, but it’s surprisingly deep, fat and present. I’ve listened to several of my songs that are at various stages of completion and they all sound true to the level they’re at. A polished, fully mastered tune sounds, well, polished and fully mastered! Also, when I listen to binaural beats, even with ambient sounds mixed in, they sound clear and immersive. They are able to get loud enough that ambient sound is not distracting from what you’re listening to, unless of course it needs to be (e.g., urgent or emergency situation).

I haven’t yet turned them up all the way (haven’t needed to) or used them with a phone call, so I can’t comment on either right now. They charge via USB-C, which I prefer, but charging time is a little long considering you only get about six hours of use on a full charge. I would have preferred around 10-12 hours ideally. They can’t be used while charging (connecting the cable turns them off), but I can’t imagine who would need to anyway. Pairing them with my phone was no more complicated than pairing any other Bluetooth device; you just have to remember to start with them OFF when you want to pair them. They come with a nice little drawstring bag for storage, but though I’m not likely to use it, it’s a nice touch.

If you want a richer, more immersive sound, you can just plug your ears; a pair of simple foam earplugs will do. Of course, you will lose the advantage of being able to hear your surroundings clearly, but that may be what you want from time to time. Some brands come with earplugs, but these did not.

There are two reasons I deducted one star: charging time vs battery life, and the fact that the frame sometimes hits my collar and slightly moves the pads. I would only have deducted a half a star for both issues if I could have. Overall, I’m pleased with this purchase and would recommend these to anyone wanting to check out this relatively new tech. I don’t know how close to the quality of these I could have come with a cheaper set, or how much better a more expensive set would sound. I just know I’m very satisfied with these. Give your ear canal a break and try them, I think most people will find them surprisingly effective.

I purchased these to wear at my job doing scenic work. A job with long hours of uninterrupted rolling/brushing/spraying of paint. They allow me to be entertained and take my mind away from the huge amount repetitive work ahead of me in hot exhausting conditions. My employers do not allow us to use noise cancelling earbuds on the work floor. We have to be able to hear what is going on around us so we don’t get injured or in the way of other workers. Forklifts and people moving large objects around the room can be heard while still hearing what I am listening to. I wish they were a little louder, but they are loud enough. I can’t expect them to drown out steel saws, routers, wood saws and all the other noises that can fill the large warehouse (and for safety reasons? Probably wouldn’t). They are very durable, keep a great charge and allow me to put my phone somewhere safe other than my pocket. They do have a protective rubber seal/door that rotates aside to insert a charging cable. The seal snaps perfectly back to protect the charging port from sweat, paint spray, sawdust, water and everything else available my work day. I can hear when my supervisor talks to me and other ambient conversations around me if I pay attention. But the sound is loud enough to listen to audiobooks and podcasts in these conditions. I would recommend these as an entry level pair. Because they are well made and priced well enough. Better than buying cheap rubbish for your first experience w this style of earphones.

Admittedly my favorite thing about these headphones are the fact that they stay on my head.

Ear buds always fall out, can’t lie down or do anything active without worrying about them. These can’t fall out and the sound is produced against your cheekbone, leaving your ears open.

I charge them nightly, so no idea how long battery life is.

They have a microphone that allegedly picks up my voice just fine, as well as a button on the side that I can use to: pause/resume music, answer/disconnect phone calls, and command Siri.

The sound does not top Beats headphones or anything intense, but they still sound amazing. Best for activities and people with ears that don’t accommodate earbuds easily. Best pair of headphones I’ve ever had.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI have been an Aftershokz customer for many years. They have their strengths and weaknesses. One of their weaknesses was that the covers over the speaker kept falling off and I would lose them. I would lose these units and I would buy them again because the bone conduction option is so good. It allows you not to have anything in your ears. It allows you to hear communications and conversations. However, I have always been a little bit dissatisfied. I have had people complain about how well they heard me on the aftershokz.

    THIS ENDED NOW

the cover over the speaker is now an integral part of the unit. I do not see it ever coming off. The sound quality is as it was before excellent. But most importantly, no one is complained, even my most difficult friend about having difficulty hearing me using this unit. This is a fabulous upgrade. Great work on the part of the company. I do not write many reviews, but this was such an improvement on the product, and I so highly recommended that I had to write something.

Great for outdoor workouts when you need to hear you surroundings. I use them while riding my bicycle and need to hear what’s around me. Great for podcasts, music quality is ok but nowhere near the same as in ear buds.

It’s a sport headphone connecting via Bluetooth. If you care about sound quality (looking for professional experience), it is not your choice, don’t buy it.

Comes with a cable, a bag and some customize stickers

    Is the bone conduction real?
It is real, the technology is being used in the military, it is not a fake technology

    Do they protect my hearing?
To some extends, yes, because they don’t pass your ear canal, but it will still damage your hearing if you listen to music too much!

    What’s the sound quality?
The sound is nothing different from normal headphones. But the quality is not professional, but what are you expecting for a sport headphone lol?

    Battery duration?
Battery duration is awesome. I charge them a few days from a full battery

    Is it comfortable?
Not that comfortable, if you wear for hours, you will feel being clipped

Can others’ hear me if I turn up the volume?
No, others’ won’t hear you. But the volume is lower than normal, you can cover your ears for better volume.

    Other special features?
You can still hear others while using the headphone, so when you start a conversation, you don’t have to take them off when you a talk. But of course, this product cannot help you avoid an awful talk.

I work in a hospital OR doing cleaning of the surgical theaters. Its a long repetitive job made much more bearable by listening to music or podcasts, but I also need to be aware of my surroundings as they call codes overhead. I used to use earbuds and they did okay but would constantly fall out, and were never that comfortable.

Finally I decided to give these a try and they are everything I wanted and more. I have full ability to hear codes called overhead and communicate with those around me. They are super secure, without being super tight or uncomfortable. And the sound quality, while not as good as ear buds would be, is definitely acceptable for my completely untrained ears.

That said, I do wish they went just a bit louder at times, and when you do surpass a certain volume you can feel the vibration in your temples, which can be a bit disconcerting, but those instances are quite uncommon for me. These are also NOT going to do anything for noise canceling, because that is the whole point, to be aware of your surroundings while also listening to whatever.

My shifts are 8 hours, and the battery life is supposedly 6, but I’ve yet to have them die on me. I do charge them nightly so they are ready for the next day.

I haven’t used the built in mic yet, but even if its just mediocre, it will be an awesome bonus to have on top of all the features already offered.

I purchased this product looking for something that would allow me to hear normally while wearing and still be able to listen to music or conduct calls/zoom meetings.
There are plenty of people griping about the sound quality. The quality of the sound resembles that of ear buds in the $35-$50 price range. It isn’t terrible but audiophiles will complain (they will complain about pretty much everything anyway.) The most noticable shortcomings are the lack of deep bass and volume. At the suggestion of another reviewer I tried ear plugs when wearing these and the clarity rose a fair bit while the volume seemingly doubled. For my needs, ear plugs are counter productive but without them I can still go most places and still hear anything being played over the ambient noise. They won’t blow out your ear drums but I find myself turning them down to about half in order to have a normal conversation.
I wear a size 8.5 hat and these fit comfortably on my head with a weight and feel similar to sunglasses. The fit isnt too loose or two tight. I can wear sunglasses and a hat without any issues. I can not lay back and rest my head on something without the loop around back shifting the speakers out of posission but that is trivial.
The battery life is above my expectation but below my wishes. Ideally, I would like a longer battery but considering I get about 5-8 hours of play time (depending on the volume) from a device that is less than the size of a small pack of gum I am impressed.
If I was going to purchase them over again I would. I have tried several different brands of inter ear and over the ear speakers between $20 and $80 and these compete well. They are not to the quality of Beats or Bose offerings that I have tried but I never expected them to be. This product is not going to replace your high end ear buds and expecting it to is your fault, not the product’s. They are a well rounded product for the class and catagory and I have so far been impressed with them.
If you are looking for something different with decent battery life and average audio quality I recommend giving these a try.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersIf you are looking for a great set of bone conduction headphones these are the ones. However they do not stay in place very good. They do not fall off, but they slide around when I move my head. I wish the strap was adjustable. If you want great bass these are not the ones the sound is excellent for audiobooks and talk, but the music is kinda flat. Other than those issues the bone conduction tech really works. I am impressed and I have noticed a difference in my tinnitus it has not gotten worse like I noticed with earbuds.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am comparing these to a pair of Aftershoz I got a little over a year ago for reference. The newer shokz seem to be made so that there will not be peeling rubber like my last pair that I used daily, at work I like that I can still hear the phone ring or someone coming to my desk and great sound quality. The only concern I do have is the band that goes around the back of your head seems even thinner. I had to get a new pair because my last pair snapped in half and even with tape never really fit right after that.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt sits very nicely on the ears. I was very skeptical about wearing glasses with the headphones but this pair also sits very well on top on my glasses frame! The only thing is I would need to adjust it a bit after I tilt my head back. This motion would touch the loop a little. Otherwise this product makes it easier to enjoy music or phone calls! No heavy headset or pain from ear buds!

I was so pleased to find these bone conduction head set as I dislike in ear head sets
and was delighted with them BUT I quickly realised that you can’t lay down with them on because of the cable
It wraps around the head but doesn’t lay against the head but sits away from the head prevented the head resting against pillows
    So that is extremely disappointing
Easy to use comfortable to wear
    So light
Can wear glasses with them on
    Can hear your surrounding
    Comes with a storage bag
    Cracking sound
    So have given them 4stars
Lost one star because of the store wire at the back of the head

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBecause I can’t wear earbuds, I wanted to try bone conduction headphones. These are perfect for me – they are lightweight, comfortable, are fine with my glasses. They were really easy to set up. The sound is certainly adequate – I mostly listen to audiobooks so don’t need the perfect sound one wants with music. Also I feel safe wearing them when out walking my dog as they don’t block the noise (traffic, other people, etc.) in my surroundings.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought these specifically for a snowboarding trip, and they held up really well! I was very surprised how well the calling worked while having these on under a helmet. They must use bone conduction to pick up speech as well, as the calls worked perfectly out on the mountain without needing to remove my helmet! Highly recommended for being able to listen to music while still hearing everything going on around you

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI waited a few years to buy these because I was skeptical, but when I took the leap I was amazed by the sound. I get inner ear pain and wanted something safe to exercise outside. I can wear them for hours without discomfort. Occasionally, after wearing them for several hours (as I work shift work) I observe a slight discomforting pressure when I place them in certain areas for too long, but they work in any position in front of my ears so I just have to adjust them around to find my comfort level. I can hear my surroundings without it effecting the sound and doesn’t hurt the inside of my ears like in-ear buds. I feel safe jogging outside and they are easy to use. They may move a bit sometimes and I wish they could fit more comfortably under a tuque, but I know they have higher priced models that may fit more securely. They come with nice stickers to personalize them, the battery life is great and charge fast.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI like that this is outside of the ear. Other in ear headphones I’ve tried hurt my ears. I’ve tried so many brands from less expensive to very expensive and still have issues.
The only drawback for me is that the loop on the headphones is long for me. The front part is fine(where it sits near the jaw) but the loop is too far away from my head. I ended up buying the smaller size and gave a friend these. I still gave it 5 stars because I was happy with them. Just be careful about size and how you are most comfortable with the length of the loop.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI am using these for masking of tinnitus. I wear them for hours each day and play comforting sounds like Tibetan singing bowls combined with white noise and they are perfect for that. I wear them while gardening or doing chores around the house and they are so comfortalble that I forget that I have them on. I particuarly like that the fact that I can hear what is going on around me as well as whatever I am listening to on the headphones. I told a friend, she bought some and feels the same.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersI am using upside down with the loop under my ear. Top of ear is crowded with glasses, hearing aid and sometimes a mask loop. This gives me a second bluetooth feed to my ear. I volunteer with Posse and Fire and have two phones plus multiple radios. Very clear voice, not too tight on my head, fits better when upside down. Band is a little to small for rightside up use due to big head.
