When setting the password the company want your password starting an icon. My last safe was simple 4 digits. Now I have to remember ” does it start with # or *”
The instructions to reset the original code weren’t to clear, but once mastered the safe is a good buy.
This safe is easy to setup (code), has 3 ways to open, so you will never get locked out and has a lot of space.
Definitely recommended !!!!
I will recommend this product to anyone as it is a very reasonable price.
Smarthive Motorised Security Hotel Laptop Safe with Daul Code Design is for me the perfect size of safe as it is ideal for keeping safe everything which is valuable, especially laptops etc. I like the fact I am able to store important papers without the need for folding them and that includes A4 paper.
I found the safe perfect for holding smaller laptops securely and that for me is perfect. I like the fact it has a good strong locking safe as well as being able to open it using both keys and pin number.
I also like the sleek design of the safe and that it has a modern design to it.
Quality product which I am happy to recommend.
This safe is brilliant, very strong and sturdy. Big enough to store documents, passports etc. I am over the moon with this purchase, worth every penny. Would highly recommend.
This is a great safe, easy to install and very secure.
Needed a replacement safe as I lost the keys to the old one. This one is slightly bigger so it was a ideal choice.
I was looking for a place to store all of our valuables and sensitive documents with my partner as we have recently moved into a new house and so far this has been the perfect security device for what we need. This safe is clearly designed for home use and for that it is perfect, able to fit most small items and documents in it. In fact, at 34 litres in size it is a touch bigger than I initially expected, but this isn’t necessarily a downside as it can store everything my partner and I need with more room for the future, but just be aware of the dimension if you were looking to fit it in a specific space.
In terms of safety, just to look at the safe it looks incredibly sturdy and is well made from thick steel, with two large steel bolts to lock the door of the safe; it is certainly not the lightest item to have to move around but this provides the needed protection from theft should the worst happen. If need be, there are also a series of bolts provided to be able to bolt it into the wall or a stand which, while I haven’t utilised this feature, is a nice touch and adds extra security options.
The digital lock can be customised and set to a code from 4 to 8 digits, and this is a very simple process to set up. However, if the worst were to happen and you forget the code, there are two keys provided that can manually override and open up the safe door. There is also an emergency power-pack/battery supplied with the safe that allows you to power the keypad if its battery runs out so you can easily change/recharge batteries. Personally though, I would just use the master keys instead as this is an easier option, but both work. I also tested out the alarm for if the code is input incorrectly and it is loud enough to be heard through most of our house.
In terms of negatives, for me the only slight let down is that the main handle is made of plastic which diminishes what would have been otherwise great design, and the plastic over the ‘override’ lock can be really difficult to get out. Also, from descriptions online, it is not fireproof or waterproof, which could be a deal breaker for some. But for me this has been a really good device to keep things safe. I think that for the money it is pretty well priced for the level of quality and comes with enough features to warrant the cost. Overall I would recommend for home owners wanting to keep a small amount of items safe.
I use this safe at home where one of the bedrooms converted into a office for my work. Kids love to play around and they love play with my stuff instead of their toys. So this safe is perfect for my documents and all work related stuff also my laptop. Easy to set up the code, heavy enouth, and super strong. Also its a very low priced o you dont need to spend a lot money.
This safe is really well built and a good size especially for storing documents, jewelry & money.
This safe looks nice a sleek in black and has an electronic pad which you can use to operate to open the safe but will require batteries which are not provided.
Comes with two keys and two heavy duty bolt locks on the side, not easy to break into by any means.
Really impressed with this safe and highly recommend.
The safe is a good size.
Great quality for the price and very easy to set up.
Nice safe and fits into a neat little space.
This is a house safe that is operates with a keypad , handle and master key.
Instructions are easy to read and understand. Personally I prefer saves with 1 key and handle than with 2 keys . I think they are easy to operate.
It can take standard size documents or pouches.
The shelf can be removed.
It is not water or fire proof.
It comes with screws to fix this to the wall (this is very important otherwise safe ca be removed from home during burglary.).
I would buy again and I would recommend
I hope my review and photos were helpful
I was after the home safe for some time now and was very happy to receive the invitation to review this one.
From the first glance, this one looks solid enough, not the bank type obviously, but more decent than the regular shoebox. The safe size is pretty much the same as you would have in a decent hotel. Looks and works very similar to those too.
Inside you have two shelves and some soft felt. It is roomy enough for most household items to be stored in a safe place.
Because it is light enough for a person to carry, it must be secured to the wall to stop being lifted. The anchor bolts are included, but I have chosen to use some heavier bolts for this.
I have misplaced the manual; therefore, I had to find a youtube video on how to set my password. It is very easy to do once you have the default password.
The safe can be unlocked with a set of keys also, but a digital lock is more convenient. This one requires 4x AAA batteries (not included). There is a little device to power up the digital lock if batteries lose charge.
My only beef is the digital lock itself. The safe is made from decent and strong steel, but the digital lock looks a bit flimsy. I do not think that if you knock that of, you can open the safe, but still. Even if it had rubberised edges, it would look stronger and better made, thank it looks now.
Overall, 4.5 stars. Safe is great, but the lock needs refining
‘Safe’ to say this was the first safe I have owned, and so far I’m impressed with all it has to offer. It arrived very securely, considering the weight of the product I was happy to see it well packaged and easy to carry.
It’s very easy to set up the safe with a secure code. The safe also includes two sets of keys and a hidden hole which can be used as a backup method to open it up incase of forgetting the code. The inside of the door has a battery compartment which needs 4xAA batteries which aren’t included with the product.
The box includes pieces to mount the safe to a wall but I have a nicely sized space in a wardrobe to keep it. There’s a good amount of space inside and includes a removable shelf as well. The design and build of the safe all looks solid and I’m impressed with it so far!
At the time of writing this review, the price for this safety deposit box is 85.99 and a discount code of 25% can be applied.
I never had a home security safety box, so don’t know what to expect. The safety deposit box is easy to set up and install, you need batteries to finish the initial setup process, and there is a emergency key and external password box to enter the safety box in case the battery run out in the safety deposit box.
If you have any important documents and valuable assets, I think the safety deposit box is a great investment for safely storage.
Awesome safe. Very, very strong and looks the business. Works smoothly and is easy to fix to a solid wall. Highly recommended
This small/medium sized black safe came boxed and well padded. The safe itself arrived in perfect condition. Size-wise is slightly larger than those you find in hotel rooms. The build quality feels solid and robust overall, and I was surprised that it’s still quite lightweight.
The safe can be set into a cupboard or secured to a wall. This is easy enough to do using the bolts provided.
Set up is relatively simple. I chose a code and set it using the directions included. The keys override the code though, so these will have to be kept very discretely.
This is a tad pricey, but works well. The look is very smart but there are elements that could be improved, like the plastic handle. It feels flimsier than the rest of the safe and lets down the overall quality.
This Smarthive Digital Safe is a pretty chonky affair; a very sturdy 38cm x 30cm x 30cm Alloy Steel box weighing in at a hefty 12Kg, the door securely locked with two impressively thick steel rods.
For further security, there are pre-drilled holes in the rear and base, along with the requisite bolts to affix the safe to floor or wall, be it concrete or wood. With this puppy locked and bolted in place I imagine it would take some pretty hefty power-tools and some time to remove without the combination or keys, so it is very secure.
Of course it is a security safe that requires a password input, and being digital rather than mechanical, it relies on a power source, which in this case is 4 AA batteries in a compartment safely placed on the inside of the door.
The big drawback with this of course is that it the batteries are not replaced before they fail, the digital lock is unusable.
That potential problem can be countered however, by the use of an emergency portable battery box that can be plugged in to the digital lock and re-activate. Like giving a vehicle with a flat battery a jump start. I must confess that my concern was always about the possibility of power failure, but this emergency box is a very neat solution.
Here’s a tip though; don’t keep it – or indeed the spare key – inside the safe. I know it seems obvious but any of us can have an absent-minded moment, so do ensure the Keys and battery box are in a safe and separate location!
The safe has a 34litre capacity, so unless you’re an annexe of Fort Knox it should have plenty of space for your valuables. It also has a metal inner shelf that can be used or removed as required.
One aspect of this Smarthive safe does give me pause however – the container itself is rugged and made from steel, but the handle is plastic and exhibits a worrying wobble from just a little pressure. It would be rather problematic were that handle to break off, and while I don’t think its a realistic likelihood just from regular use, it nevertheless seems to present a clear weak point.
Having said that, while such a breakage would present difficulties in accessing the safe, I don’t think it actually compromises the security, so it would represent more of a nuisance than a calamity.
That being said, as in all other respects I find the Smarthive digital safe to be very impressive, I’ll just make remark upon it here but I don’t think it impacts significantly enough to remove a star.
p.s. I must commend the secure protective packaging; it’s not quite as sturdy as the safe itself but it ensures it arrives in perfect shape.
We already have a safe, but have a,ways found it a bit too small, and as such it never quite fitted the house deeds in and for them to remain totally flat. They are over 100 years old so not a regular modern sizing, but now with this larger safe that matter is now resolved and the documents can lie nicely flat.
This safe operates in much the same way as my previous one, with keypad security and an override key, which we’ve stored somewhere secure and that we know exactly where it is if needed.
You can easily change the code for one of your own, which is issue tail, please don’t use the factory setting! The only drawback with this safe, as opposed to a mechanical one, is that’s it is battery powered, and requires 4 AA batteries to operate. I haven’t used the back up supply, which takes a further four batteries, as it has the key override, so if you do it needs 8 AA batteries, nine of which are supplied, which is a shame given the price point.
Overall this is a sturdy larger than average safe box. It comes with security bolts, which are a must to install, or it’s a bit pointless if it can be removed (even with the alarm going). If you’re going to invest, make the effort to secure it properly for piece of mind. Price wise, it currently has 25% off, which makes it a reasonable 75 ish mark, it’s not bad for that, but I wouldn’t pay the full price. Four stars from me overall.
I think this safe is perfect for those who live in shared accommodations such as student dormitories, or with many roommates.
The overall construction quality of the safe itself and the steel used feel incredibly sturdy and secure.
If you store this with the lock facing the wall, perhaps in a closet this could easily pass as a shoebox.
I’m quite happy with how easy it was to initially setup, the emergency key works just as well in case you forget your password, moreover the option exists to mount this safe if you wish.
So huge and so safe!
It is very well made safe. Easy to use.
Perfect for keeping documents, money or some other important things in it.
Quite heavy but really good quality!
Recommend!
The digital safe it is made of materials such as good quality steel and a well-functioning digital panel. It is a method of protecting precious things both at home and in the office at work or wherever you need. The product weighs 13 kg is quite heavy being made of thick steel. It has a lock system that activates automatically if the password is wrong 3 times. It is well equipped and can be used very efficiently and easily, it has all the instructions plus the backup password in case you forgot your password. The product is really high quality and it is a good idea to keep valuables safe.
This is a must have for every home in my opinion I’ve wanted one for ages and now I finally do I’m really happy with this safe it’s made from solid alloy steel so very tough it has a decent 34l capacity and inside it has 2 shelves to keep your belongings there are 2 ways to open either use the handle and code of your choice or if your like me a little forgetful you can use the keys which come with the safe if you do enter the code wrong multiple times it will let off an alarm sound which is a really handy feature so for me this safe is just perfect and I definitely highly recommend
This is an excellent safe that accomodates our two 13 inch MacBooks, 2 surface tablets, a Mac mini, an add-on hard disk enclosure as well as passports, wallets of foreign currency and 2 credit card holders full of loyalty cards. My wife and I both like gadgets and we keep all of our lives on those things, but we don’t like to carry them all around with us when we go off on holidays. The contents of the electronic gadgets are all encrypted, but keeping them from getting into someone else’s hands in the first place is easily the best plan for security.
I fitted this safe into the bottom of a wardrobe in one of our bedrooms, and screwed through the safe floor into the base of the wardrobe using strong screws, so basically if someone wants to take the safe contents out of our house they’ll need either to figure out how to open it, or an industrial pry bar, or to take the wardrobe with them.
The safe is simple to operate, and follows the principles in place for hotel room safes around the world – while the door is in “open” position (with the locking bars retracted), entering a 4 digit code followed by hash will program the new code into it. It’s all very simple and straight forward, and nicely thought out. We had a slight problem with the safe when it was delivered but exchanging a few emails with the vendor (to which they consistently replied very quickly) resulted in a speedy and effective resolution, so they offer superb customer service as well as a great safe!
Very much recommended if you are looking for a way to keep home valuables safe and secure.
I was looking to upgrade our current safe to store more in it with a better digital access option. This safe has both a key and key code option and easy to feel buttons so I can do it without looking.
It isn’t the thickest safe but comes with precut holes for fixing it via the back or bottom. It’s thick enough to cover most cases and should act as a good deterrent. It also includes fixings and an emergency battery pack which can be filled with batteries if the internal batteries die. Unfortunately the safe doesn’t include any batteries which is a shame.
There is a shelf in the middle that can be removed which is great and makes it easy for passports, money, jewellery.
Overall it’s great value for money if it can be hidden and securely fixed, it’s not the highest quality but when on offer works out a great size for the money.
It’s 12kg, so although not lightweight, it’s easy enough for reasonably strong person to carry. Hence the bolts (four supplied) for connecting through the floorboards or wall. As shown in the photo, there are holes drilled through the base and back panels. The bolts are 8mm diameter expanding. They are good, but you may need to seek out alternatives depending on wall material (not suitable for plasterboard).
One star off for the handle – mine was wobbly and it’s not metal, but metallic coated plastic. As this is the part that will be used most frequently, it’s disappointing the cost-cutting occurred here. No obvious cost-cutting elsewhere.
It could also be used as a decoy – put it say at the bottom of a wardrobe, filled with rattly junk, and burglars will find it and run off with it, saving the real location of valuables.
Smarthive Security Home Safe: This safe comes well boxed and protected, it has 2 moulded handles to assist movement as it is quite heavy and is a bit of a lug on your own. The safe is a good size, approx 15″x12″x12″ and is just a little less internally with a removable middle shelf.
The safe has 2 keys and a hidden key hole, this consists of a plastic removable disc, so no fear you can always access safe in an emergency despite a digitalised locking system.
Setting-up the codes isn’t complicated, however advise that anyone doing this reads through the instructions properly first, unlike me who tried to do it step by step and set the alarm off twice (the alarm is very annoying but not so loud your neighbours will scream, but definitely audible in the house). The key thing is to use the pre-set code 1234 first then press reset button to enter your code of choice, then do the same to amend the master code. Once complete this all works well and is simple to use.
The battery box to power the digital system is internal to the safe and requires 4xAA Batteries (not included), which means it cannot be disabled from outside. The safe offers a warning when battery life is low, but if this is missed the keys will still open the door.
We’ve not wall mounted this safe at the moment, however the hardware provided (4 very sturdy bolts) looks like it will provide good support, instead we have this on a secure shelf due to the weight. The safe is a reasonable price, currently 85, however my main issue is that it isn’t fire or waterproof so any important items and documents might be lost. We have a small lockable box which is both fire and waterproof so the ideal solution is to lock important stuff in this then lock the box in the safe – doubly secure.
Once I unpacked everything and read the instructions it was very straight forward.
On first use you use an emergency key. The battery compartment is on the back of the door and easy to install batteries in to.
To the side (it’s clearly marked) you’ll find the reset button. You press the reset button and then add a pin followed by the #key to set. The pin is from 3 to 8 digits of your choice.
When you’ve closed the door and the screen goes to sleep, to reactivate you press the # key followed by your chosen pin if it’s correct it will confirm and you’ll be able to turn the handle. If it isn’t correct it will give error message. It is very easy to do though. I believe you can add a second pin but I have no need for two pins.
It comes complete with 2 emergency keys and instructions, bolts to secure to floor of wall etc a back up battery compartment that can link to the door in event the batteries run out. It however gives a warning when the batteries are low which providing you have batteries at home (4xAA) you should be able to change very quickly!
It has a shelf divider making it into 2 shelves or cubbies or you can remove it to make one large compartment. The bottom has a material liner think it maybe a felt of some sort so precious items will be free from scratches.
There are holes already drilled in back and bottom for installation which would make it really difficult to remove.
All in all of say this is a great safe, perfect for storing valuables.
This is a top quality home security safe. Arrived is a very strong box. Honestly never seen such a well made protective cardboard box. The box has a use of it’s own using for storing light bulbs in loft. But back to the safe. The safe isn’t as heavy as I had expected but it is well made strong and robust. Comes with a good set of instructions. Finished in a nice black ripple texture powder coating that doesn’t mark. Safe has a digital lock and also has 2 keys to open the safe manually and bypassing the lock. The safe can store papers and other materials. It is not waterproof or fire proof so that’s worth noting.
So very pleased.
Highly recommended.
The SMARTHIVE 34 litre is a nice little safe that is ideal for home use to secure your important items and is made by The Tiger King Safe company, that have produced a vast range of lockable security boxes for over 20 years.
This particular model is a nice size, measuring approximately 38cm x 30cm x 30cm (WxDxH) externally and internally is approximately 24cm deep (allowing for the depth of the door) x 37cm wide x 28cm high.
The whole safe is made from steel, which as you would expect feels very strong and has quite a weight to it. It also features 2 steel bolts that lock the door and the body has nice rounded edges.
On the door is a round control panel with 12 push buttons that is used to enter your unlock codes and a small LCD display that is illuminated.
A small input socket is located just to the left of the keypad and can be used to attach the external backup battery box (included), should the internal batteries run out before you get chance to replace them.
Next to the control panel is a small removable plastic cover that can be prized off to reveal the emergency key hole, to enable you to unlock the safe using one of the 2 supplied keys, should you forget the codes or the battery runs out of power.
Finally, on the far left of the door is a plastic handle used to wind the security bolts back to open and forward to lock.
On the inside of the door is a plastic cover that unclips to reveal the battery compartment which requires 4 x AA batteries (not supplied). If you look carefully, you will also see a red button that is hidden away on the inside edge of the door, which is used to change the unlock codes.
Inside the safe is a removable shelf, which is handy to help organise your belongings but being removable is a huge bonus as it means you can store larger items by taking it out. On the bottom surface is a layer of soft material to help protect items from damage.
The rear of the safe has 4 mounting holes which you can use to secure the box to a wall whilst the bottom has a further 4 mounting holes allowing you to secure it to the floor.
***** In The Box *****
1 x 34 Litre Cabinet Safe
2 x Emergency Keys
1 x User Guide
4 x Mounting Bolts
1 x External Battery Box
***** Installation / Usage *****
Installing the safe is pretty straight forward, as long as you are competent enough to use a drill.
Simply place the safe in your desired location, mark where the mounting holes are positioned and then drill the holes. Place the plugs into the holes, reposition the safe and then use a socket to tighten the bolts and secure it into position.
You can set 2 different codes to deactivate the lock — a user code and a master code.
To set the master code, open the door, press “#” to activate the display and then the “0” button on the keypad twice followed by a press of the red reset button on the inside of the door. Now enter your new code using the keypad (3 to 8 digits) and then press the “#” button to confirm.
The user code is set by simply opening the door and then pressing the red reset button before entering your new code and confirming it with the “#” button.
When you shut the door and turn the handle, the safe will lock and can then be opened by pressing the “#” key to turn on the display and then inputting either the user or master code and then pressing the “#” button again. You will hear a beep, see a the word “open” on the control panel and then hear the mechanism unlock, allowing you to turn the handle and open the door.
If you enter your code, but then do not open the door it will lock itself again after several seconds.
If an incorrect code is entered you will hear a series of beeps and the display will show “Error” if this is done 3 times in a row a siren will activate for 20 seconds and the keypad will be locked for 3 minutes.
Once you have locked the box, you can also activate the vibration alarm, so that a siren will activate for 1 minute if the safe is knocked. This is done by pressing the “*” key on the pad.
***** Conclusion *****
I think the size of this particular model is great for home use and the internal space is large enough to store a good amount of items, even when you take into account the thickness of the door.
The product feels nice and strong, which is of course the whole point of the item and the locking mechanism works very well. It also has a bit more weight to it than my old one, which was slightly smaller in size.
I like having the option of a user code, as well as the master code as it means you can temporarily give the user code to somebody and then change it again when they no longer need to access the safe.
I also really like that you have 2 emergency keys, as it would be a complete nightmare if you forgot the unlock codes or the batteries ran out before you had chance to change them, leaving you unable to access your items inside. The external battery box is also a nice feature, although I would probably just use the key and change the batteries inside.
It is also worth mentioning that you can use between 3 and 8 digits for your codes. Being able to use 8 digits increases the amount of possible codes immensely, making it extremely unlikely that somebody would be able to guess the correct code, especially when combined with the 3 minute lockout, so another thumbs up here.
Overall, I think as a simple security safe for home use this is a great product but if you wanted to secure higher priced valuable items then I would probably look for something insurance approved, as well as fire and water proof.
The current full price of 125 is probably a little over-priced when compared to other similar products, but with the current 50% off voucher, I think it offers good value for money.
ideal for storing passports, money etc, really heavy and very secure. A definite must have if you have valuable items that you need to keep secure!! 10/10
This safe is brilliant for keeping valuables secure at home, it really is piece of mind having that extra layer of protection. The thickness of the steel and the mechanics behind the locking system aren’t my area of expertise, but what I can say is if our house was broken into, the getting into this safe once it’s locked certainly won’t be an easy job.
The safe can be screwed down (pre-drilled holes at back and bottom) to prevent anyone trying to remove it.
There’s an easy to understand user manual included for setting up the safe and passcode.
This is a solid safe which is ideal for keeping valuables secure at home. Also suits storing petty cash/mobile devices/invoices/confidential information etc in an office.
Firstly the box it comes in is nearly as strong as the safe — never come across such a well made box – haha.
Once out the safe is quite impressive it’s reasonably heavy but not so much that you’ll have problems moving it to where you will need it even in a restricted space it was easy to manoeuvre in. Once in position you have the option of securing it to a wall with the 4 bolts provided, probably a good idea.
It comes with very precise instructions on how to set it up and it really is a doddle.
It also comes with 2 keys to open the safe manually and bypassing the lock. Should you forget the code the emergency keys are a way to into the safe and gets you access to a reset button inside the safe to allow you to create a new code. Also as the digital lock is battery powered and for instance you didn’t have access to the keys then there is also an external battery pack you can plug into the digital lock to power it up and enter the security code if the intenal batteries have lost their power.
The safe is pretty solid but be mindful it isn’t waterproof or fireproof so any irreplaceable documents for example you may wish to store elsewhere. But it’s great for everyday valuables — or things like passports (easily replaced if they go up in smoke).
Good safe at a decent price
Pros
BUILD QUALITY: The construction is absolutely solid and feels incredibly robust! The solid alloy steel construction makes this a very heavy safe, so do be careful when carrying over to the location you need it to be.
SET-UP PROCESS: The included instruction manual makes it simple to get the safe set-up; just note for the first use you will need to use the manual keys to unlock the safe, then place four AA batteries (not included) to use the digital keypad.
The default digital pin is ‘#’ followed by ‘1, 2, 3, 4’ and confirmed by ‘#’ to open; then just follow the instructions to create your own pin.
STORAGE: By default, there is a shelf to separate the safe into two parts; however, if you want to store larger items inside, you can remove the shelf.
SAFETY: The digital keypad has security measures in place so that if someone incorrectly guesses your pin three times, they will have to wait a further three minutes before trying again. Also, as previously mentioned, this safe is built very well so would be extremely hard to get in by force. With that said, due to it’s size, if you haven’t used the included lock bolts, someone could technically carry it away.
Cons
At the time of writing this review, I cannot find any faults with this safe.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a small sized safe to keep some precious belongings securely locked away, then this is a great option.
SMARTHIVE Security Home Safe
This safe is packaged in what must be the strongest cardboard box that I’ve come across, the safe is certainly well protected during shipping. When this arrived I was quite surprised by how big it was measuring 38 x 30 x 30 centimetres. It appears to be strong and well made from heavy gauge steel, it is also quite heavy for it’s size.
This can be fixed securely to a wall through the back panel of the safe using the supplied anchor bolts, it can also be screwed down through the base if you prefer.
Although clearly strong and well protected from theft, the safe is not fireproof or waterproof due to it’s single walled frame. This can easily be overcome by using a fireproof document bag for any important papers. The safe does seem to be designed to make breaking into this very hard, the heavy gauge door is set deep within a recess making it difficult to prise open. The door is secured by 2 large steel pins that should never bend or break under any sort of pressure a thief might put on them.
The safe has a large shelf that can be placed halfway up, or if you wish, the shelf can be removed. On front of the door is a large digital display with push buttons. Also on the front is a removable cover where a master key can be inserted (2x keys provided), the keys are designed in such a way that they cannot be easily copied. I doubt very much that this type of key lock could be picked either due to it’s unusual design. It does appear that the master key is unique to each safe as it has a key number stamped on the side.
The digital keypad and display are powered by 4 x AA batteries which are inserted on the inside of the door. The master code can be easily changed to whatever you wish, the code can consist of 3-8 digits. Also included is a separate battery holder that has a single 3.5mm jack plug attached, this can be plugged into the front of the keypad. The purpose of this is to power up the keypad in the event that the batteries fitted inside the safe become drained, which is possible if the safe were to be left locked over long periods of time. If the keypad ever fails or you forget your code then the master key can be used to open the safe.
Overall, this is a very strong, good sized, substantial safe for the money. It is a shame that it’s not fireproof, but I suspect if it were then the asking price would be much higher.
If you want to keep some cash or important documents safe from theft or prying eyes then this will be ideal. Purchase a couple of fireproof document holders and you are sorted – Highly Recommended!

Thank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.
This is a significant step up from the slightly smaller 50 safe we’ve been using. It seems stronger and more secure. Certainly it’s heavier, and easily beats the ubiquitous hotel safe on features. It’s plenty big enough to take A4 papers and my XPS 13 laptop. The felt mat for the floor is welcome.
The control pad is easy to use, the display easy to read. Locking and unlocking using a code is similar to using hotel safes. There’s a master code too, in case you forget yours. For backup, there’s a separate battery pack. You’ll need 4 x AA for the safe and 4 for the backup pack (no need to install the latter until the backup is required, of course). There are keys too, which you’ll need if ever the motor fails.
An alarm sounds if the code is entered incorrectly three times or the safe is hit hard. It’s heavy, at well over 12 kgs, so not easy for a thief to run off with. It can be bolted through the floor or back, to prevent theft. A determined thief would find a way in, probably using an angle grinder, but is perhaps more likely to go elsewhere and look for easier pickings.
I wouldn’t store the Crown Jewels in here, but it’s great for important documents such as passports and wills, especially since it probably offers some fire protection. We’re delighted with it.
Have some things you want to keep safe and/or secret?
This Tiger King safe will definitely help you in your endeavour.
It is easy to setup and use. It’s nice and heavy so it would be a pain to try and smash and grab.
Will keep prying exes from sifting through your private stuff when you are out of the house and she comes in with the key the kids have for visits.
This is nice and heavy, which makes it feel bulky and well-built. While it’s possible that a burglar could cut through the metal with the right tools, it should be enough to dissuade all but the most determined of thieves. That and the nice sizes of this makes it pretty appealing.
Access is controlled via the keypad and there are also keys. Kudos to the company for not providing batteries; we should be careful about excess waste these days.
All in all, I think this is a solid home safe that doesn’t break the bank. Those with plenty of funds could perhaps afford something more sophisticated or that offers better protection. For those on a budget/of more modest means, this provides a good way to store valuable documents and small items of high importance.
The first thing to appreciate is that is a home safe, you wouldn’t keep the Crown Jewels in it, but for home use, this is a superb, well-made safe, with excellent features, and constructed VERY robustly.
The safe is very strong, with large steel shooting bolts (not motorised, hence handle) locking the door, and the whole thing very heavy duty with no seams to jemmy etc.
Size is decent, and the safe can be bolted to a wall or floor, with bolts supplied.
The safe can be programmed with a number between 4 and 8 digits, which is good, with great features like privacy so the number isn’t displayed when you enter etc. You can have a user code plus master code.
You can over-ride with the master key (thereby opening mechanically — 2 x keys supplied), so good fail-safe. In addition, if the batteries have exhausted (although you will get low battery alert in advance), you can connect an emergency battery pack (provided — just add batteries to this). I will say though, the included instructions don’t say where you plug into, and it took a few moments of head-scratching before noticing it is in the front, to the left of the keys! Obviously if you have the over-ride keys to hand, you wouldn’t need the battery pack option, just open and replace batteries inside.
Overall, this is a really good home safe, with lots of great features such as 3 x minute lock-out after 3 x incorrect entries, audible alarm under strong impact (trying to force open etc) and more. Unfortunately, it isn’t fire or waterproof, so any important documents should be kept in a suitable fire retardant box within. Great quality, decent value.
I hope this has been helpful.
Comes really well packaged, no damage at all to the safe on arrival. The metal chassis is high quality and feels extremely sturdy.
A code was simple to set with the digital keypad and works flawlessly since. It comes with physical keys just in case you forget the code or you’re using this in a guest room.
This is by no means a tiny safe, you can easily fit all your valuables in here.
Well protected sturdy fortified safe, easy to set and open and very secure when closed. Handy portable battery case if it runs out of power and you haven’t the key to hand.
When I go away on holiday, I’m looking for somewhere safe to keep my devices so this seemed ideal. I liked the fact it could be accessed in a variety of ways (so technically I don’t have to remember a code). It is heavy (13kg) and at first can be accessed with the emergency keys under the rubber stopper just below the keypad. There is a battery pack inside (in case the batteries run out) but no batteries actually provided – 4 x AA required (or 8 if using the pack too). There are also legs for the safe to raise it which makes it easier to access. I like that there is a user code (this can be customised), master code and the keys for easy access. If the code is entered wrongly 3 times it will emit a loud sound and lock you out for 5 minutes which I haven’t tested. When using the code the door does open very smoothly but I find key access a bit hit and miss as it doesn’t always go in easily. My main issue is the fact my 15.6″ laptop doesn’t fit in it – I could have done with an extra inch. I do like that it has a felt carpet to provide some protection on the metal surface. While it doesn’t fit the laptop it can fit a whole lot more but I’m all out of gold bars. Unless it was actually secured to whatever surface it’s sitting on though, someone could still easily steal it but will probably have difficulty getting into it – you’d really need a GPS to know where it was taken.
Have to say I’m very impressed with this safe. I was looking for one similar to what I’ve seen in hotel rooms and this is it. Simple keypad with LED display. Use code and master override code. Seems very sturdy and easy to install. Also comes with two physical keys for peace of mind to open in emergencies.
