These are a great value high quality set of over the ear headphones. They have good cable length. The sound quality is detailed and sharp. Great for music and great for gaming if you have a sperate microphone. I do like these and I am impressed with them. Recommended.

If you love deep bass then you’ll hate these headphones. They are not bass boosted. They are designed for studio monitoring sounds. They have been used in professional settings for years, because they are great. They are comfortable for prolonged use, they have screw in locking jacks and a generous length of cable. They fold up small and come with a draw cord storage pouch. You get a lot of headphone quality for your money.

I have a number of headphones made by different manufacturers, but this Sony professional headphones beat them all!
Sony is popular for its quality products and this item is no different from those high standard products!

As you would expect the audio quality is excellent. The cable is not removable as with some alternatives and is a rather long coiled cable as you would expect for studio headphones. The cable has a mini stereo jack with a screw on type 1/4 inch stereo jack adaptor. It comes with a fabric head for storage. These are lightweight and comfortable.

I’m using these for video editing in Premiere Pro and they’re super comfortable (even though I wear glasses). You can wear them on and off for hours and they remain comfortable. The 3.5mm jack plugs straight into a MacBook Pro with no issues. Editing sound and confirming levels is made easy.

The reason I gave the headphones 4 stars was because the retail packaging/box the headphones arrive in is quite bad and tears easily (outer box head wear and tear already). Additionally, the carry bag/pouch Sony includes in the box doesn’t actually fit the headphones, so it’s pointless? That said, the headphones themselves are worth the price.

Great sound, look good, I think the build quality is excellent very sturdy, a bargain at 76. I’ve had beats and bose and the best headphones I had especially for the bass was the sony mdr770bn and these ones are better, i was looking for headphones with no wireless and just wanted lossless sound. I use my bose Quietcomfort for all the other stuff but it’s nice to have old school headphones belting out. 10 out of 10 for me.

These Headphones have been used in audio and video production for years because of their consistency decent sound and quality. For the price its a no brainer. They are not totally natural, perhaps a bit bass heavy, not a very big sound stage but decent clarity. They are also well suited for monitoring when recording vocals of Acoustic guitars as there is only a little leakage from them once they are on.

If you are starting out and want a decent pare to rely on, or if you are a pro in need of an extra pare to use on the move or to track with, look no further.

Had these for a week now and very impressed with the clarity of the sound produced. Can’t go wrong with Sony. Bought them mainly for listening to music and playing guitar they excel for these application. One nice surprise was trying them on my Switch console and they pick out small sound effects that my expensive TV doesn’t. So overall I would recommend these headphones.

    Perfect.
Used for both DJing and internet broadcasting.
Very comfortable over the ears, but not for long periods (2-3 hrs) of continuous wear.
This is my third pair in about 10-12 yrs, so cannot fault them.

Stunning sound immediately out of the box! Clear, balanced. Really comfortable fit too.

From what I’ve seen of headphones over the years, there are two kinds:

    1. Low quality, but which doesn’t pick up on hiss on quiet sections
    2. High quality, but which does pick up on the hiss from computers and TVs

These headphones are very high quality, and picks up the hiss from every piece of electronics in my house. Of course, when there is some sound being produced, the hiss is too quiet to be heard anymore. It just depends if this bothers you or not.

The headphones seem robust, so far, except there are little cables connecting the speakers to the headband on both sides – time will tell how well these last.

A large part of the advertised cable length is coiled up like a traditional telephone handset. I don’t find it a problem, because I use a cable extension as well. With the coil resting on a nearby surface, I don’t notice the weight of the coil.

Nothing beats these as a professional engineer and producer with over 15 years experience I got these recently and they beat headphones that cost 3x the price. Not the best build quality but extremely far ahead in terms of sound quality. Pristine midrange that translates very well to other listening platforms.

The cable is far too long for most purposes (I’d much prefer if it had been the variety that can detach also at the headphone end, allowing for the swapping out of a shorter cable when that is more convenient). But the sound is great. I use them in a computer music home studio and love the balanced clear response. Recommended

My first pair of studio headphones and I am blown away by the sound quality. It really captures the low end to give you a solid idea of how the bass comes through in a mix.

Obviously I have not experienced sound quality this good from a pair of headphones so this is a relative opinion.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’ve used this wonderful product for over 2 years now I believe, I didn’t realise I hadn’t left a review for it.

As a voiceover artist, I initially didn’t realise how important it was to have decent headphones as I thought mine were okay quality enough but I was blown away by the level of detail and the voice I was now finally able to hear. I was EQing all wrong prior and I feel like a fool because of it, but this is just a lesson that one had to learn.

If standard smartphone earphones were at a 20% sound quality marker, and some generic overear headphones at around 50%, these pair of Sony headphones feel like a solid 100%. (Tinny monitor speakers would be the 0% mark!)

The immersion feels great and the bass is fantastic too. I have read that it can be too good at times and thinks it hears things but from my perspective I’ve not had such encounters, it must be for people who regularly produce music to notice these things, but my untrained ear struggles to perceive these minute details.

One admittance, I dropped these headphones once and one of the “ears” kind of fell off, but it was fairly easy to re-clip it back in, so I’m glad they weren’t broken or anything. So points for durability there!

I have worn these headphones for hours on end, so they’re not uncomfortable. It can get a bit hot as they are fully over-ear but only after very long sessions. I’ve never caught my hair on these so that’s a plus unlike the ones that they hand out in planes (!).

Ultimately this was a purchase from Amazon warehouse and I was very pleased, it definitely amped up my voiceover abilities and it’s something I don’t regret buying. Whilst I was researching, these tended to be reviewed as industry standard at least some time for the past decade and more. Things might have changed now but these were very popular – I just remembered during a networking event, I saw a child of a voiceover using these headphones too! They must be good and renown!

    Pros:
    – Great for sound-related careers
    – Comfortable with size adjustments optional
    – Durable
    – Long cables

    Cons:
    – Worried one day the main wire could be damaged and since it’s fully intergrated with the body of the headphones, it can’t be replaced.
    – Worried the leather-style material will wither away

Love the product as a whole! 1 problem, becareful, very easy to nip your finger so keep away from young children. They are comfy to wear with a really long lead and bag

Pricey but worth it, they are comfortable the sound quality is great they are of a very robust 30 year old design, and they are intended to last for decades which is reflected in the design which allows for user repairs.

There are fakes out there. These are not. These do sound like their supposed to. Firm and plentiful bass, not false or boomy, and detailed mids and tops, but not exaggerated. Trust me, I’m a proper, old-school, sound engineer.

The sound is well balanced, slightly on the warmer side with a good treble. Good separation and, for the closed back design, they have more sound stage than I expected. Solid build quality.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese are just superb for audio quality. You’ll hear base and treble that you won’t via bluetooth or lower quality. Even my Bose headphones can’t match these for sound.

Good points are well built, long cable and decent build quality. Also the audio which as noted above is superb.

Bad points are they’re not the most comfortable if you wear for prolonged periods of time.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI have several other mid-priced headphones. So I have a comparison. I rate the Sony MDR-7506/1 highly for the sound. The sound is well balanced and detailed.
Unfortunately, these headphones also have disadvantages.
    1. The headband adjustment is poorly designed (spacing adjustment). The setting keeps changing. This construction sucks.
    2. The second drawback is the cable, which cannot be replaced. The heavy, coiled cable puts a lot of strain on the left earphone. Of course, only when the cable dangles. This is 3m of heavy cable coiled in a very short length. If these 3m of cable hangs on the handset, it’s not fun. If the cable is on the desktop, then there is no problem. I would prefer a straightened cable though. For me, this is the downside of these headphones. I deducted one star for these two flaws.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersProduct used for purely listening purposes mainly rock music but other genres of music too.
The box it came in was very poor as the cardboard was so thin box opening was impossible without ripping it unlike the v6 I had years ago where the box was cheap but usable.
Nothing much has changed with the construction of the product;basic with lots of plastic and those wrinkly ear pads that will be sweaty in Summer and need replacing before too long
What is exceptional at this price is the sound when one considers that it is a real competitor to the M50x which is said to be the class leader at this level.
I have both and despite the big price difference the M50x has the use of faux leather peeling off headband and ear pads in relatively short time.
Both good headphones sound wise and it is subjective as always but given the price difference and any other
Issues I think I would choose this old school headphone over the newer model if it came down t0 it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought these to replace yet another pair that fell apart at the seams. Too early to talk about robustness, but the sound quality is good enough for my amateur hearing. The first point is that I had to reduce the overall sound setting on my PC otherwise the noise hurt my ears. The second point is that I can definitely hear more of the depth in the music I listen to. The subtler sounds in the background are now more discernible. Would recommend it to anyone with a love of music.

Great sound quality and base, solid noise isolation however quite a bit smaller then i thought and while do fit my head, become fairly uncomfortable at the top of the headband within a short while

The sound quality from these headphones is great, I have no issues with the build, it being wired etc
The only complaint I’d have is that they’re not for all day use, after about two hours you have sweaty ears, other than that they’re tip top

Good quality monitor headphones. I use between a guitar headphone amp and a little bit of recording using an interface on a PC. I have no complaints at all. The mix may be a bit too raw of you intend to use for general use, but to as a tool for musical creation, I think they’re great.

I bought these for my Husband as he has a Piano/ keyboard. He said the quality is fantastic. He loves them. A little problem he has now is he had a pacemaker fitted so has to wait to see his cardiologist before he uses them again as there are magnets in them.

Bought to use with my bass guitar and a Fender Mustang Micro amp. Really pleased with them. Seem a solidly built quality set of headphones. Look good, fold up compactly with a handy carry bag. I’m no technical expert but the sound quality seems good, both for the bass guitar and music synced from Spotify.

Have previously been using Sennheiser HD25 ‘on ear’ headphones but decided to give these Sony MDR-7506/1 a try as I prefer over-ear and I’m certainly not disappointed. Very comfortable to wear and gives you an amazing sound quality that in either the bass, treble or in the mid ranges leaves nothing out.

    Used as DJ headphones

After buying about 5 or 6 different types of headphones for mixing vocals on the go, I stumbled upon these. They’re really good for that purpose and the sound is really true. They’re also quite cheap for what you’re getting and when compared to brands of similar quality and so far seem very durable.

These Sony MDR-7506 cans are good quality, with crisp clear sound and decent volume.
They replace a pair of Philips SBC HP840’s, which had a fuller rounder sound, and were more comfortable. The Sony’s also don’t have a jack to the headphones, so the cable is permanently attached.
Lets hope they ‘burn-in’ and prove to be as much of a friend as the old Phips.
71 year old ears – still groovin down and loving sounds old and new.

For a regular sound editor like me, this is amazing. The noise cancellation is good enough that i can edit while another person in room listens to music on speakers. The only reason i can’t give 5 starts is the incredibly annoying inward rotation on those earphones

These are great, it is of no surprise I see these in edit suites and used in professional environments, ridiculous value for money. Amazing sound with great range, don’t be distracted by the fancy more expensive brands with gimmicks, If you want genuine great sound, you can not go wrong with this classic

if “real” music is what you list to then hearing your music though these will allow you to hear it as it was recorded. If you are from the BASS equals quality generation feel free to buy some much more expensive but much poorer quality headphones.

Excellent headphones. Dated design, which I like. Emphasis on midrange, but contrary to what other reviewers have said, there is plenty of Bass – it’s just balanced properly. Because of the clear sound quality, the stereo imaging seems better. You will hear things in a track that you haven’t heard before.
Would recommend an ear cushion upgrade. There are some good memory-foam ones that help with sound leakage. Make sure you use them with a good quality audio reference source! Impedance is quite high, so use a professional grade source that likes driving high-ish impedances.

As reported by the majority of the reviews posted, this is an excellent product. However, I find the way the phones fold up to be annoying, especially during recording with a guitar in hand. If only the earpieces could be locked in to place.
