Really please with this product. I use it to dry iced biscuit and sugar paste flowers
I have this for my diabetic dog to do thin slices of chicken breast. I’ve yet to try anything else in it. You can do approximately 8 breasts across the 6 levels depending on how thin its cut. It works well, my only issue are, no built in timer and the door isn’t a perfect fit letting heat out where it shouldn’t but only minimal.
I don’t know anything about dehydrators but this is basically a plastic box with an electric fan at the rear, blowing over a heating element. There’s plenty of room inside, plus there’s a tray for the base which I think is for fruit leather. So far it’s dehydrated: apples, bananas, mangoes, pineapple, carrots, potatoes and made fruit leather. Basically anything we found in the kitchen we put in it.
You need to gain some experience with it to gauge times, also the size you cut your produce to.
Long term, who knows? But, at the moment it’s running every other day, all day.
Can go lower than 35 degrees. Managed to get mine hovering around 25 to 27 degrees which makes it great for rising bread in an otherwise cool kitchen.
It has metal trays as opposed to plastic ( which I have heard can melt). It also has a horizontal fan as opposed to a vertical one which means the air is fanned in from the back of the machine and is more equally distributed, as opposed to the bottom of it, which could be dangerous for dipping meat etc.
It makes liver and chicken jerky in about 7 – 8 hours which is very fast believe it or not. I also intend to dry out some fruits and veg when I get round to it. It is very simple to operate with a temperature dial and on /off button. There is a sticker which tells you what temperature to use depending on what you are drying.
Best of all, my dogs have never been happier. They now think it is called the sweetie machine and get very excited when it goes on.
I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this dehydrator.
Good machine, bought for home use but would be happy having it in a professional kitche
I use it to do chicken breast for my pets, economical, tidy useful
I have used this every day since I purchased it, so far it has out performed my previous dehydrator.
If you have not used a dehydrator before the instructions are not very helpful.
The biggest drawback is my cat loves to sit on top of it!
I think there should be a guide/recipe book for easy use and hints and ideas. The dials are not enough to help
Probably expensive for a first dehydrator but is really good and does what it says on the tin.I struggle a bit put the trays in but that’s probably just me. I would have like a light to say the required temp had been reached tbh.
This does what it says. I have used this to dry tomatoes (sun dried) and powder, herbs from my garden, mushrooms to make powder, apples for snacks. It is really compact and pretty quiet too. Has adjustable thermostat to dry all sorts of food including a dough proving setting though I have not used it for this. Good value for money
Good product could do with more guidance in booklet re drying times bit hit and miss but otherwise good produc
Love this. It’s bulkier then I expected but it’s lightweight, so easy to move out of its storage cupboard. Easy to set up. I’m still learning so it’s a little trial and error. But I make my dogs chicken strips which she loves and I’ve dehydrated some mango strawberries and bananas which have all been grea
Glad I bought this. A little more expensive but will probably last longer than the plastic dehydrators!
Very good indeed . Perfect for what I need it doe
Used for drying flowers, herbs, strawberry slices and raspberries. Works well and is relatively quiet. There are no instructions about time and temperature for drying different items so you do have to do a bit of research and there is an element of trial and error but overall it has been good value so far.
This is my first dehydrator. Up to now, I’ve used it to dry onions, rhubarb, mushrooms, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, leeks, bananas, mango and pineapple. It runs quietly (overnight) and, up to now, is doing everything that I had hoped for.
using to dry meats for our dogs easy to use switch and temp controls easy to use exactly what i was looking fo
It dries herbs better than my oven, and flowers come out the same colour, rather than several shades darker.
Just starting to experiment with frui
Very good machine so much better to have metal trays and the plastic ones worth spending the extra ,also cuts down the time so saving all round very pleased I got this happy with i
So far I’ve used this three times. It’s as quiet as my dishwasher and about the same size. I make jerky and pemmican and the meat dries well and quickly at the highest setting. The metal trays are easy to clean and the clear door is helpful. I don’t have any complaints at all and would recommend this dehydrator.
If you have cooking time and space in your kitchen its really good
After deliberating for a while I decided to buy a dehydrator for fruits and vegetables. It was easy to use and very well made. The fruits were very tasty – part of me wanting a healthier snacks. Every summer my apple and
Plum trees bear lots of fruits so this year the heathy option will be making fruit leathers.
This dehydrator is all round good, very easy to use, easy to clean and dehydrated quite well
We previously had a purely domestic dehydrator and if failed after 3 weeks – partially because the fan and heater is at the bottom. This one (though more expensive) is: great, simple to use, easy to clean , with everything electric at the back so does not get dripped on. Only downside – the fan is slightly noisy (but not intrusively so).
A good machine which helps me to safe for dog treats.
he delivery was very good can not say more as this is a prese
Overall an expensive way to save a few apples ,but it makes us feel good anyway.
We use this solely for dog treats as our dog has EPI. Very easy to operate, mesh sheets brilliant and much quicker than our old dehydrator.
I find it useful for drying my homegrown chillis. Will try other fruits and vegetables too.
This was a reasonable price, was delivered quickly, & is working very well.
Notes for anyone purchasing- it needs to be stopped after 20 hours of use for 2 hours so that it doesn’t spoil the machine. It also has clearly marked temperature measurements in 5 degree Celsius marks so if you need to precisely use a temperature like 41 or 42 etc you’ll have to eyeball the button a little on the machine. If that’s not a deal breaker than I highly recommend!
Lovely machine easy to use nice and quiet my dog loves it too he knows hes got treats coming when its turned o
Used for making cinnamon apples and honey pears with the glut of fruit this year , it has used the fruit instead of it being wasted, also tried it with over ripe bananas all delicious. Awkward to clean the bottom of unit if anything misses the bottom tray
Great value for money. Easy to use, practical, does exactly what I want.
The wife used it to dry apples, pears and kiwi fruit. It worked fine
This dehydrator rums quietly but I have had it for a month only so I cannot yet comment on durability.
Pros. Easy to use.
Racks cleaned in dishwasher OK.
Metal racks for durability.asy to use.
Simple controls so no display to go wrong!
Remove shelves and you have space for raising yeast doughs.
Low temperature for making yogurt.
plenty of shelf space.
Easy to remove shelves and rotate during drying process.
Drying times fine about 7 hours for fruit leathers, longer for slices and whole fruit but does need flipping to ensure complete drying.
Light body so easy to move and fits on work top due to rectangular shape.
Cons.
only one non-stick mesh sheet.
Minimal instructions in manual.
If all shelves filled drying times take a little longer than when two or so shelves used.
Advice.
I am new to dehydrating so read up on google & you tube to learn how to! I started out with fruit leathers and rolls., and realised I needed a few non-stick sheets. I tried with non-stick paper and this didn’t work at all well. I looked for a cheap alternative. I bought a large black oven liner from Aldi (cost a couple of quid!) , the reusable one for the bottom of the oven. This sheet cuts into two smaller sheets big enough to fit on a shelf with a bit left over (I lined my loaf tin bottoms with these.. Works a treat if you dry the puree until you can gently peel it away without sticking much. Turn ihe leather and dry for another hour. I must emphasise each type of fruit and thickness of slices determines how long it takes. I have found it’s a matter of trial and error at first. I guess this is why the instruction manual is so sparse, there are so many variable . However it’s fun to experiment and learn. I have found the temperatures on the controls are OK for fruit.
I have used it for raising yeast dough and works well, very handy and better than balancing my bowl of dough on a radiator!
I have not yet tried drying meat products.
To sumarise…… read up if you don’t know much about dehydrating. Be prepared to experiment and keep a note book of times for various items. Just as a reminder!
It’s now 2021. I am at the moment drying the last of my Kale crop ready to plant up the beans. The dehydrator is still as new but well used. Carrots, mushrooms, peppers, celery, apples, herbs all dried and stored. It’s been so useful through the pandemic. I have made soups and stews with dried ingredients to hand. Christmas presents have included dried mangoes (I got some tins of mango slices very cheap and they dried beautifully) I have made fruit rolls and gifted so much of the sweet items. The only thing I have failed with are dried potatoes. I am still working on this!!!! I am more than happy with this dehydrator.
Excellent for my requirements for home-made health promoting medicines 10 out of 10
Highly Recommended
It arrived on time and in good condition. It came with no instructions but the only controls are the on/off switch and the thermostat so you can’t go wrong. After watching some youtubes we have been experimenting with fruit and vegetables and making yoghurt at home. All very very simple.
My only criticism is that it is quite bulky and noisy. This isn’t a problem in a house where you can leave it running downstairs all night without hearing it in the bedroom but it could be annoying in a flat.
But as I mentioned, it is bulky! So make sure you’ve got somewhere convenient to store it when not in use.
My dog loves his dehydrated meat treats, my granddaughter loves her dehydrated fruit (especially water melon, which she prefers to almost any other treat offered) and dehydrating lavender is so aromatic, and it preserves the aroma beautifully.
It’s a bulky item out on the worktop, but as I use it at least weekly, it works for its worktop space. When I redesign the kitchen, it will have a space specially made for it.
Brilliant piece of kit. Easy to use. Great results. Cannot recommend enough. Five stars
