Really please with this product. I use it to dry iced biscuit and sugar paste flowers
I have this for my diabetic dog to do thin slices of chicken breast. I’ve yet to try anything else in it. You can do approximately 8 breasts across the 6 levels depending on how thin its cut. It works well, my only issue are, no built in timer and the door isn’t a perfect fit letting heat out where it shouldn’t but only minimal.
I don’t know anything about dehydrators but this is basically a plastic box with an electric fan at the rear, blowing over a heating element. There’s plenty of room inside, plus there’s a tray for the base which I think is for fruit leather. So far it’s dehydrated: apples, bananas, mangoes, pineapple, carrots, potatoes and made fruit leather. Basically anything we found in the kitchen we put in it.
You need to gain some experience with it to gauge times, also the size you cut your produce to.
Long term, who knows? But, at the moment it’s running every other day, all day.
Can go lower than 35 degrees. Managed to get mine hovering around 25 to 27 degrees which makes it great for rising bread in an otherwise cool kitchen.
I bought this dehydrator solely for making my own dog treats as I wanted to be sure there were no additives to their treats and you cant trust shop bought ones not to have an added extra. I did some research and discovered this was one of the best for home use.
It has metal trays as opposed to plastic ( which I have heard can melt). It also has a horizontal fan as opposed to a vertical one which means the air is fanned in from the back of the machine and is more equally distributed, as opposed to the bottom of it, which could be dangerous for dipping meat etc.
It makes liver and chicken jerky in about 7 – 8 hours which is very fast believe it or not. I also intend to dry out some fruits and veg when I get round to it. It is very simple to operate with a temperature dial and on /off button. There is a sticker which tells you what temperature to use depending on what you are drying.
Best of all, my dogs have never been happier. They now think it is called the sweetie machine and get very excited when it goes on.
I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this dehydrator.
Good machine, bought for home use but would be happy having it in a professional kitche
I use it to do chicken breast for my pets, economical, tidy useful
I have used this every day since I purchased it, so far it has out performed my previous dehydrator.
If you have not used a dehydrator before the instructions are not very helpful.
The biggest drawback is my cat loves to sit on top of it!
I think there should be a guide/recipe book for easy use and hints and ideas. The dials are not enough to help
Probably expensive for a first dehydrator but is really good and does what it says on the tin.I struggle a bit put the trays in but that’s probably just me. I would have like a light to say the required temp had been reached tbh.
This does what it says. I have used this to dry tomatoes (sun dried) and powder, herbs from my garden, mushrooms to make powder, apples for snacks. It is really compact and pretty quiet too. Has adjustable thermostat to dry all sorts of food including a dough proving setting though I have not used it for this. Good value for money
Good product could do with more guidance in booklet re drying times bit hit and miss but otherwise good produc
Love this. It’s bulkier then I expected but it’s lightweight, so easy to move out of its storage cupboard. Easy to set up. I’m still learning so it’s a little trial and error. But I make my dogs chicken strips which she loves and I’ve dehydrated some mango strawberries and bananas which have all been grea
The unit is quite big, but it is very light and easy to clean. But I think the process of dehydrating is going to take a bit of getting used to. The machine itself is straight forward to use, plug in, set temp, put fruit in and switch on. It doesn’t have a timer but that’s not an issue for me. Dehydrating just takes a long time and is dependent on so many factors, such as moisture of the fruit, thickness of the slices and the type of fruit etc., There is nothing wrong the equipment, I just have to get used to it.
Glad I bought this. A little more expensive but will probably last longer than the plastic dehydrators!
Very good indeed . Perfect for what I need it doe
Used for drying flowers, herbs, strawberry slices and raspberries. Works well and is relatively quiet. There are no instructions about time and temperature for drying different items so you do have to do a bit of research and there is an element of trial and error but overall it has been good value so far.
I’m using this more than I thought. I don’t like to waste food. I dried lots of apple rings (from own little tree) in the dehydrator with great success, they’re perfect for adding cereal and handy, not bulky to put in your pocket if out for a walk. Great for drying kale to add to soup . This year I dried wild garlic & leeks to make a seasoning salt (blitzing the dried greens in a food processor). It’s a bulky item, I keep in in the garage.
This is my first dehydrator. Up to now, I’ve used it to dry onions, rhubarb, mushrooms, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, leeks, bananas, mango and pineapple. It runs quietly (overnight) and, up to now, is doing everything that I had hoped for.
I love my new dehydrator. It is easy to use, light weight, and fairly compact. I have made some delicious dried fruit and vegetables. I will try some fruit leathers next. Perfect for storing food long term.
using to dry meats for our dogs easy to use switch and temp controls easy to use exactly what i was looking fo
It dries herbs better than my oven, and flowers come out the same colour, rather than several shades darker.
Just starting to experiment with frui
Very good machine so much better to have metal trays and the plastic ones worth spending the extra ,also cuts down the time so saving all round very pleased I got this happy with i
So far I’ve used this three times. It’s as quiet as my dishwasher and about the same size. I make jerky and pemmican and the meat dries well and quickly at the highest setting. The metal trays are easy to clean and the clear door is helpful. I don’t have any complaints at all and would recommend this dehydrator.
If you have cooking time and space in your kitchen its really good
This dehydrator is so easy to use, and is great for dried meat crisps. Perfect for keto snacks.
After deliberating for a while I decided to buy a dehydrator for fruits and vegetables. It was easy to use and very well made. The fruits were very tasty – part of me wanting a healthier snacks. Every summer my apple and
Plum trees bear lots of fruits so this year the heathy option will be making fruit leathers.
This dehydrator is all round good, very easy to use, easy to clean and dehydrated quite well
We previously had a purely domestic dehydrator and if failed after 3 weeks – partially because the fan and heater is at the bottom. This one (though more expensive) is: great, simple to use, easy to clean , with everything electric at the back so does not get dripped on. Only downside – the fan is slightly noisy (but not intrusively so).
A good machine which helps me to safe for dog treats.
Been wanting a hydrator for ages and it doesn’t disappoint. Sounds like a dehumidifier. Just close the door and the noise goes. Have dried strawberries, mango, pineaple and apple are delicious. Blueberries and raspberries need longer.
he delivery was very good can not say more as this is a prese
Love this, we use it on a regular basis. We dry out bananas & grapes, pineapple slices & apples, any fruit really, you can make fruit leather in the provided tray which makes a sort of fruit chew when rolled up & cut up, we store in air tight jars & they keep for ages, great for snacks. On the more savoury side, we dry all kinds of tomatoes for soups ,casseroles & stews, the drying process intensifies the flavours of everything. We slice and dry onions too, they go in a jar and keep for ages. Peppers were a surprise hit, they are great for throwing in a spag bol. We buy veg boxes from the local grocer more since the pandemic started & where before we might throw a few things out , now we throw nothing out. The steel mesh shelves are great to clean too. Would highly recommend .
Bought this for my wife who likes it very much. It works well but could do with better instructions. We always have a glut of apples at this time of year and many rot and get thrown on the compost heap, but with this drier most can be salvaged and dried ready for eating with our breakfast cereal . I don’t think it will save any money in the long run as it needs to be on for quite a while to do the job properly. Finding somewhere to store it when not in use is also a small problem in our small kitchen.
Overall an expensive way to save a few apples ,but it makes us feel good anyway.
We use this solely for dog treats as our dog has EPI. Very easy to operate, mesh sheets brilliant and much quicker than our old dehydrator.
I find it useful for drying my homegrown chillis. Will try other fruits and vegetables too.
This was a reasonable price, was delivered quickly, & is working very well.
I bought this to replace my old Stockli which had finally died, and I am very pleased with it. It is quieter in operation, with more solid feeling controls. There is no inbuilt timer, but that is just something else to go wrong and a plug time switch works just as well. The capacity of the Sous Vide is significantly greater than the Stockli and the stainless steel mesh shelves are robust and easy to clean. Food is dried more evenly with the horizontal airflow system, so unlike some vertical dryers there is no need to swap the racks around part way through the process. It takes longer to dry a load than my old machine, but given the bigger capacity and the even drying there is very little to choose between them in that regard. Too soon to know how durable it is ( I do a lot of drying) but so far so good.
Very fast delivery, it’s arrive 2 days early. It’s amazing, it’s look big and heavy, but it’s actually really nice and light. Also I heard this kind of machine making quite a loud noise, it’s actually quite quiet and have a great performance. I’m extremely happy with it.
I love this product! I’ve been using it for vegan recipes for an online chef course I’m doing from home during lockdown and it works perfectly and cleans well.
Notes for anyone purchasing- it needs to be stopped after 20 hours of use for 2 hours so that it doesn’t spoil the machine. It also has clearly marked temperature measurements in 5 degree Celsius marks so if you need to precisely use a temperature like 41 or 42 etc you’ll have to eyeball the button a little on the machine. If that’s not a deal breaker than I highly recommend!
Quite a big machine but sturdy and I like the fact the shelves are good quality metal and they supply inserts if you need better cover although I find grease proof paper does the job and less washing. Never had a dehydrator before but bought with the intention of making food for hiking expeditions as I am celiac then Covid 19 struck. Still I had to make sure it worked properly and used mainly for meat like bacon, chicken and minced meat And all has turned out perfectly and reconstituted tastily. When we are let out again to trek this will be a great asset and I will no longer have to starve on long journeys or get cross contamination from shop food.
We borrows a different model from a friend and loved it. We then purchased this one and hoped it would be as good. It was better! The banana chips are epic. We found with both dehydrators that we tried that the drying times are better doubled. We’ve dired fruit and veg mostly and it’s been brilliant.
Lovely machine easy to use nice and quiet my dog loves it too he knows hes got treats coming when its turned o
We wanted something to make sure we could store all our produce – so nothing gets wasted. Perfect for the job – this dehydrater has changed the way we look at our produce and how we use it. Once you start you can’t stop. Easy to use with temperature control knob and large enough to do large fruit and veg too.
Used for making cinnamon apples and honey pears with the glut of fruit this year , it has used the fruit instead of it being wasted, also tried it with over ripe bananas all delicious. Awkward to clean the bottom of unit if anything misses the bottom tray
I love this machine! I have been tempted to buy a dehydrator for a long time but the price put me off. I have been drying fruit and herbs for many years to provide my horses and goats with nutritious additions to their winter feeds, with limited success. I have used the oven on a very low setting or the sun coming through the window with the result of sometimes burnt offerings or food hanging around for days at a time. I used the dehydrator for the first time last night and woke up to perfectly dried and delicious fruit. The room smells great too. The apples were so lovely that they are good enough for human consumption so I will be doing extra for family snacks.
Great value for money. Easy to use, practical, does exactly what I want.
Good value for a rear fanned drier. It dries as evenly as expected given that there will always be an advantage to being near the fan and the heating element. Occasional moving trays and reversing them seems normal for driers. The only negative is that the door is easily broken. Mine slipped off the worktop on second use when I removed it to swap the trays around – landed on the floor and a big chunk of plastic broke off. Otherwise, recommended and doing a great job with my surplus fruit this year.
I use the same dehydrator in the restaurant. it’s perfect and it’s way cheaper than some professional suppliers. Easy to operate and clean. I use this one at home to even do treats for my dog. I definitely recommend it.
I’ve had this dehydrator for about a year now and have enjoyed a variety of products using it, from banana chips to biltong. It has also been great for drying vegetables and legumes for soup mixes. Temperature can be set from 0-70 degrees (I’ve tried it at 0 and it will indeed blow cold air if that’s what you need), so handy if you’re preparing low heat or raw products. If you’re big on jerky, this will save you significant money in the long run.
Hardly any instructions, how can you use a new machine when you have no instructions on time /temperature. Suggest buying a book like I did, now it’s very useful, and works well. You need a book of tried and tested veg and fruit, otherwise could waste a lot of food and money experimenting.
Husband wanted a dehydrator, I thought this was a good idea as it is dedicated hydrator not something that does multiple tasks. It’s nice and simple, good quility shelves. Theres no timer but we have a plug in one if needed, like the temperture knob instead of a touch control which would add to the price. This is perfect for someone just trying out dehydrating and will probably be all they ever need.
The wife used it to dry apples, pears and kiwi fruit. It worked fine
Bought for drying excess produce from allotment especially apples!
This dehydrator rums quietly but I have had it for a month only so I cannot yet comment on durability.
Pros. Easy to use.
Racks cleaned in dishwasher OK.
Metal racks for durability.asy to use.
Simple controls so no display to go wrong!
Remove shelves and you have space for raising yeast doughs.
Low temperature for making yogurt.
plenty of shelf space.
Easy to remove shelves and rotate during drying process.
Drying times fine about 7 hours for fruit leathers, longer for slices and whole fruit but does need flipping to ensure complete drying.
Light body so easy to move and fits on work top due to rectangular shape.
Cons.
only one non-stick mesh sheet.
Minimal instructions in manual.
If all shelves filled drying times take a little longer than when two or so shelves used.
Advice.
I am new to dehydrating so read up on google & you tube to learn how to! I started out with fruit leathers and rolls., and realised I needed a few non-stick sheets. I tried with non-stick paper and this didn’t work at all well. I looked for a cheap alternative. I bought a large black oven liner from Aldi (cost a couple of quid!) , the reusable one for the bottom of the oven. This sheet cuts into two smaller sheets big enough to fit on a shelf with a bit left over (I lined my loaf tin bottoms with these.. Works a treat if you dry the puree until you can gently peel it away without sticking much. Turn ihe leather and dry for another hour. I must emphasise each type of fruit and thickness of slices determines how long it takes. I have found it’s a matter of trial and error at first. I guess this is why the instruction manual is so sparse, there are so many variable . However it’s fun to experiment and learn. I have found the temperatures on the controls are OK for fruit.
I have used it for raising yeast dough and works well, very handy and better than balancing my bowl of dough on a radiator!
I have not yet tried drying meat products.
To sumarise…… read up if you don’t know much about dehydrating. Be prepared to experiment and keep a note book of times for various items. Just as a reminder!
It’s now 2021. I am at the moment drying the last of my Kale crop ready to plant up the beans. The dehydrator is still as new but well used. Carrots, mushrooms, peppers, celery, apples, herbs all dried and stored. It’s been so useful through the pandemic. I have made soups and stews with dried ingredients to hand. Christmas presents have included dried mangoes (I got some tins of mango slices very cheap and they dried beautifully) I have made fruit rolls and gifted so much of the sweet items. The only thing I have failed with are dried potatoes. I am still working on this!!!! I am more than happy with this dehydrator.
Excellent for my requirements for home-made health promoting medicines 10 out of 10
Highly Recommended
After listening to a friend extolling the virtues of a dehydrator we decided to take the plunge. We chose the SousVide Hendi on the basis of favourable reviews although there are many cheaper models available.
It arrived on time and in good condition. It came with no instructions but the only controls are the on/off switch and the thermostat so you can’t go wrong. After watching some youtubes we have been experimenting with fruit and vegetables and making yoghurt at home. All very very simple.
My only criticism is that it is quite bulky and noisy. This isn’t a problem in a house where you can leave it running downstairs all night without hearing it in the bedroom but it could be annoying in a flat.
I’ve had the dryer for 3 months now and tried drying everything in it from biltong to watermelon. Simple to use and with 6 trays it has a great capacity. Drying is consistent across the whole device so you can dry a mix of different things at the same time, taking stuff out as soon as it’s ready and leaving other trays behind to dry longer. Dehydrated fruit – apples, pineapple, watermelon and banana – very popular with kids, and jerky and biltong with everyone. It also helped deal with surplus tomatoes and chillis from the garden. Simple to clean, good range of temperatures and very quiet operation. Only criticism is there were no instructions on using it, other than plugging it in and switching on. If you’re new to dehydrating you will need to buy a recipe / guide book to give times and temperatures for different products to get you started.
It works great and the customer service is great. The dehydrator arrived with a crack in the door, I contacted SousVide and they sent a replacement out next day.
Wonderful, if bulky, bit of kit. So far I’ve made three batches of Jerky, and two of Dried Mango. Yet to have any kind of issue with the outcome.
But as I mentioned, it is bulky! So make sure you’ve got somewhere convenient to store it when not in use.
It’s my second food dehydrator, and I’m hoping this one is more robust than the last one, which only lasted 18 months (plastic trays)
My dog loves his dehydrated meat treats, my granddaughter loves her dehydrated fruit (especially water melon, which she prefers to almost any other treat offered) and dehydrating lavender is so aromatic, and it preserves the aroma beautifully.
It’s a bulky item out on the worktop, but as I use it at least weekly, it works for its worktop space. When I redesign the kitchen, it will have a space specially made for it.
First time using a dehydrator. Straight forward operation. Just don’t expect 6 trays to dehydrate fully compared to 1 in the same time. Always add mor time then your expect to dehydrate a meat dish.
Brilliant piece of kit. Easy to use. Great results. Cannot recommend enough. Five stars
Absolutely fabulous! Much better than I expected for the price, easy to clean, quiet and less smell when drying different meats for dog treats.Highly recommended…oh, and made in Britain so win win all round!
Excellent product, well packaged, arrived on time. Easy to install, looking forward to using it.
