Was dying to get this the moment it was announced and don’t regret it in the slightest. It’s amazing just how much you could remember after so many years, but yet it all just came flowing back! The speedway levels were just as soul destroying as i remembered as a child, but alas, i dont think id have it any other way. If you loved playing the original games on the ps1, i highly recommend giving the remake a go. Arrived super early on release day safe and sound.
It is amazing that Spyro has been brought to the modern generation with modern controls and expansive visuals. The amount of care the developers have put into the games can be easily seen. The same fun can be found within the levels, with the difficulty of the game being far reduced from the original.
There are a lot of problems with the Spyro Remaster, most become more prominent as you get further on. Repeatedly through Sgt.Byrd levels, I had problems with the camera shooting into the ceiling and getting stuck in till I die. Massive lag spikes, and crashes on loading levels. This became more frequent on the second and third runs through the game.
After reading some of the bad reviews I was cynical before buying this. However, as a massive Spyro fan and someone who played these games to death back in the day, I couldn’t resist! I’m so glad I bought this! Yes, you have to download Ripto’s Rage and Year Of The Dragon, but I hardly noticed they were downloading in the background as I played the first game!
The games remastered are amazing to see. Gameplay is exactly the same and so are all the levels. Everything has been remade to look more HD and some of the characters look a lot less pixilated than the PS1 versions! Absolutely brilliant and incrdicbly addictive. These games have brought back plenty of memories! Would recommend to any fans.
Loved this game as a kid so had to buy it for my PS4. Took hours to download 2 games out of the 3 due to slow internet connection but once completed I’m happy reliving my childhood memories. Only downfall is not having 3 physical discs to play all 3 games separately. Definitely worth it though
If you loved the original games you will love this, as they have updated the graphics and made it smother to control spyro, its a ust buy for all ages.
A great remake of a game I loved as a kid. It feels super easy now as they were very faithful to the original, so it’s ideal for kids, and is nice to put on to wind down. I’m enjoying playing it to look at the art as much as anything else (if not more).
I noticed other reviews mentioning that only the first game is on the disc. I tend to make sure my games are up to date before playing them and I have a decent internet collection so I didn’t even notice the issue.
Disclaimer, I play on a PS4 Pro. The game looks absolutely stunning, it is colorful and refreshing after all the grim games I have been playing. The animations are gorgeous and Spyro looks better than ever.
The story in itself isn’t mind blowing by any stretch of the imagination but it isn’t what the game is about. It’s about collecting everything.
This is one of the few games where attempting to 100% do not feel like a chore. The game isn’t too difficult in itself and yet feels rewarding after the different levels/mini challenges within.
I highly recommend this game. Plus it is family friendly!
So far, this game has given my son a lot of value. It combines three games in one and each level is extensive and offers many challenges. Add that it’s also tame on the violence front, it’s something I could recommend.
I played this when i was younger amd got addicted. Features are even more amazing Spyro can roll over and you have caught all his drqgon friends. 3 Spryo on it must play and get if fa
The nostalgia is the winning element of this game – they’ve kept true to the original trilogy and will hopefully appeal to a new generation. It’s been fun seeing my friends (all in their mid to late 20s) reliving their childhoods… with better graphics! Excellent little additional touches, such as the scorch marks on the ground when you breath fire. It’s also by no means an easy game… some of the challenges are difficult and may take a few tries (hint: I found it easier doing the skateboard tricks using the D-pad rather than the analogue stick) which is good because who wants an easy, walkthrough game, right?! Can’t beat the satisfaction of FINALLY winning a cartoon hockey match on ice.
The only negative has been echoed by a few, which is the need to download games 2 and 3. Unfortunately, that’s a symptom of modern gaming rather than something wrong with this particular game but it’s irksome nonetheless.
Can’t believe how cheap this product is the buy, considering it is three games! It’s just like the original just up to date, the enjoyable game play of today is there but with the nostalgia of the 90’s. There are a few glitches in the game but nothing that stops the game play being enjoyable would recommend getting this game if you enjoyed the old spyro!
PERFECTLY remastered totally addictive & fun family FRIENDLY, iconic & historic trilogy.
Please, please don’t be put of by the delicious & gorgeous visuals, this trilogy is an essential addition for any gaming fans/collections of all ages.
This amazing trilogy contains the absolute ESSENCE of video gaming at its core; SUMPTUOUS, big bright fun & very colourful graphics, updated & modernised controls, still very challenging even for seasoned gamers & most importantly is the FUN FUN FUN at its central core.
Great revamp of 3 classic games. If you loved playing spyro when you were younger you need this! Graphics are bright and colourful, soundtrack sounds amazing. Great price for 3 good games. Hours of fun!
Amazing to see the original spyro trilogy is back. Beautiful graphics and updated gameplay. My only issue is that the third game has a couple of bugs that can become an issue.
The game was just as good as when I played some 20 years ago. Nice that you can change the music and controls to either old school or remastered versions.
It seems easier than before but that’s likely because an 8 year old just isn’t as logical as an adult.
My two nieces, aged 8 and 10, both love the game despite it not having the nostalgia factor for them so I think is a good buy for kids new to the game too.
I’ve always loved Spyro and this doesn’t disappoint. Graphics are amazing and its brought back so many fond childhood memories playing the PS1 version.
Spyro was a childhood classic on the PS1 and when Sony said they will be releasing it again, i was slightly sceptical and annoyed.
Having to pay x amount of money for a game that already exists isn’t what you want to do but still I bought it due to nostalgia reasons.
No regrets.
Game is incredible as always and I’ve been playing it to get platinum on all 3 games. You forget how complicated these games are in comparison to nowadays games. Love it!!!
Disc is the 1st game preloaded and with internet the other 2 download.
The first 6 games for Spyro were the best and I hope Activision considers putting the next 3 on the PS4 – Spyro looks great and having not played the PS1 versions for a while its been easy to pick up again and the gem finding , thief chasing is harder as you progress . The colour is sumptuous and I highly recommend this to anyone . Nothing but some “play” violence as it would be called these days no bad language which makes a change for any game these days . A MUST for any collection .
I purchased this for my girlfriend as she completed Spyro games back when they originally came out. She hasn’t really been into gaming since so this was my attempt to try and entice her back into it!
She loves the games so far although she’s still playing the first one in the series. Apparently, it’s just like she remembers it but ‘better’ so I’m guessing the graphics overhaul has worked wonders. Perhaps the controls are a little more complicated than they used to be… I’m not sure if she had analogue sticks back then?
I noticed a few reviews are flaming and down voting this game because you only get Spyro 1 on the disc and you need to download the others to play. I don’t think this is a particular fair criticism though, not for the developers anyway. They have developed 3 good games here and it’s not their fault that they have been distributed in this way. You essentially purchase 3 games here and you are entitled to download all 3 of them. Even the game on the disc is out of date and requires a massive update.
The majority of gaming platforms now allow you to download games – I have downloaded hundreds of games on Steam, Origin and Uplay and PSN and never received the media. To be fair I think I’m lucky to even receive a disc these days as I recently received a game box with just a download code inside!
Unfortunately, I think the ‘pure offline’ players with no internet connection need to realise that style of play is being phased out and being replaced with full downloads, games on demand and streaming services. It’s certainly not fair to give this game 1 star because it doesn’t come on a disc.
I cannot physically put into words just how amazing these 3 remastered games are. The quality is stunning, the music has been improved and the controls…oh my god the controls. Fluid. So much easier and more fun to play now than it ever was. Love it! Also arrived on day of release so was very happy!
They must hace put some hours into this remake! Graphics are sharp and clear even on a large screen tv, i played this as a kid and it is unrecognisable. Like there are things i completed as a kid in this game that in the remake im like… is that they were? Fantastic job. Me and my partner are fighting over the controller for the first time in two years.
I love the original trilogy and once this remaster was announced I followed the development very closely.
There were a lot of concerns about the second two games – that they wouldn’t be well polished – and this is definitely the case.
Be warned: you will need an Internet connection to download the 2nd and 3rd games. Some levels are included on the disc; but only a few.
Spyro 1 – plays wonderfully, is graphically unique, and collecting everything feels very satisfying.
Spyro 2 – my favourite of the three as a child. Some of the character redesigns seem very off, while some are great. It still plays very well and I personally did not find any issues in this game (though have heard others have struggled with some things)
Spyro 3 – is very… OK. There are times where my game was completely broken (Sgt Byrds base broke the graphics entirely and the only way to fix it was to purposefully die. Very irritating) the skateboarding sections feel tuned very badly. This isn’t so apparent until you have to race enemies later in the game. Other times things would just disappear and you’d have to restart the entire level to get them to respawn so that you could complete it properly.
No word from Toys For Bob, the developer, regarding any patches to fix these glaring issues and until that time I can only warn you that there are some major issues with this release. Despite this, it is otherwise a joy to play and the nostalgia train is running full speed.
Well I got this for my son for Christmas he’s never played it before but I have many years ago so I thought I would get it for him, hope he likes it like I do
Just received this game today and it’s awesome. Such a shame the games aren’t actually on the disc and require downloading but didn’t take long at all (about an hour) so it was fine. It’s just over 8gb to download. Was well worth the wait as the games r absolutely super. So much better than the originals on PlayStation 1. It just looks like a brand new game. Graphics r excellent and gameplay is as good as ever. Great for fans old and new. Buy it now.
As good as the originals! I have spent hours reliving my childhood playing this game, graphics are great! I’m glad they have kept the original storylines etc. Worth every penny!
I played this game as a child and it’s exactly how I remembered it. So much fun to play all those levels all over again. It’s an absolutely amazing game, whether you are playing it for the first time or playing it again.
Spyro is one of my all time favourite games, and this remastered version is simply stunning and perfect in every way. It is exactly like the originals, just more beautiful. 100% recommend to everyone. Everyone should experience Spyro in their lives.
This is an incredible remake! They did a fantastic job. They’ve successfully managed to retain the magic of the original games while bringing the graphics up to date.
If you have kids that haven’t played this game, definitely consider buying this for them. They will love it! (And once they’ve gone to bed, have a go on it yourself and you’ll see what a great game it is!)
O.m.g I rember purchasing all 3 spyro games when 1st released on ps1 and playing with my son when he was around 4 years and now hes 24 and now 20 years later I’m watching my youngest daughter aged 13 playing this game. The graphics are stunning the colour very vibrant and game is suitable for all ages but best part is you have all 3 amazing games on one disc so very good deal for the price. I just hope one day my daughter will let me have an hour game play.
I’ve only played the first Spyro game of Reignited but the detail is incredible. A faithful remake. Lots of fun. So glad they made it. Brings back good memories.
It has been well worth the wait, it’s still a brilliant game but if it’s possible, BETTER.
I hope more of the PS1 games get the same treatment. (40 Winks, Bugs Bunny lost in Time and Pandemonium)
This game took me back to myself as a little kid, playing Spyro on ps1. The quality and detail of this remastered version is worth a pick up for anyone who enjoyed those quality games of the past.
Additionally, it’s great value as you get the trilogy for a low price!
I’ve spent hours playing spyro now and I absolutely love it. I had the games as a kid and was really excited to play this. It has been remastered so well and it was worth every penny!
I’ve been a customer on here for over 6 years now and this is the 1st time I’m writing a review on a product I’ve purchased. This game brings back a lot of memories as a kid, especially with the fact (unlike the Crash N Sane Trilogy) you have the ability to play Stewart Copeland’s original soundtrack. The only major issue I have with this game however is the High Caves theme song, because unfortunately this doesn’t feature the PAL version that I’m very familiar with listening to since I’m from the UK. This is why I’ve given this game a 4 star rating and I can only hope they include it in a future update. On balance though, the pros most definitely outweighs the cons compared to the original games and is definitely worth your money to purchase.
This game is not just for nostalgic 90s kids, it’s for new gamers to fall in love with as well. This trilogy in my opinion is the best ever made. The games offer something for everyone, highly recommend everyone getting this!
Just a very short review, the games are as good as they’ve always been, they feel the same, they’re fun, that’s all I’m saying about the gameplay. This gets 4 stars instead of 5 because it seems shareplay ONLY works for the FIRST Spyro game, and NOT the other 2, you just get a message saying the game ‘cannot be viewed because it’s hasn’t been released in your country or region’ which is nonsense of course. Have a friend stuck on a boss battle, wanted to help out, but no because Activision have blocked shareplay for the other 2 games for whatever reason.
Beware that upon receiving the game you will be required to connect to the internet to download an update file though. It took me 10 minutes but I’ve heard of it taking hours or even days.
As fun as it was almost two decades ago, we didn’t know better when it came to graphics – we just played what was available. Technology has advanced dramatically since, and this game is now a modern day nostalgia for adults or perfect for children who might struggle with the older graphics. Lets not kid ourselves, you can’t really immerse yourself in a game like Spyro if the graphics aren’t sharp. You also have the option to keep the original soundtrack for anyone feeling nostalgic, so this is all I could possibly ask for. I love it so much I can’t put it down. I can’t recommend this enough for old Spyro fans and I’m confident newer generations will enjoy it just as much.
Just as I remember the originals. It’s amazing to compare how much better the graphics are of you watch any videos of PS1 version.. but they did a really good job keeping the nostalgia going and was a good price too for 3 games and less than any single new release.
The nostalgia returns… but it’s different. Everything has been hiked up. It hasn’t been long since I played the originals again and found that the worlds in the remake appear slightly smaller than the original games or it could be that they have so much more detail.
Not as impressed with Avalar as they hyped it up to be needing extra time for editing, but the lava looks awesome. Underwater swimming could have been better, it’s very PS2.
I remember getting the original game when I was 5 and it was a new release, loved it then and love it now.
I really like spyro the dragon reignited trilogy game, I made a purchase on Monday and on my email said it will come on Friday but instead it arrived on Thursday morning, so thank you amazon, I haven’t yet played with spyro 2 and 3 just yet I only just started with the 1st one, I didn’t like the accessories and reaction on the dragons when I watched it on YouTube, so before I made a purchase I could of contacted Activision to edit out the accessories and reactions to all dragons and make it just like the old one on the PS one, but now it’s too late I just have to make with it and play with it. And ignore those bad reviewers and buy and enjoy playing spyro the dragon reignited trilogy.
Somehow, Toys For Bob and Activision managed to take the three original classic Spyro games and have turned in much more superior versions of those brilliant games!
I have played through Spyro 1 and achieved 120% and now currently in the second workd of Spyro 2. The visuals, gameplay, music, the level of challenge and the amount of content are all top quality (as they were in the originals at the time). All the dialogue in each game is exactly the same as their original counterparts, so as well as being superior games, these are also faithful reproductions of the games we fell in love with in the early 90s – early 2000s (even the cheats that you could use in the PS1 versions have been recycled here, that’s how faithful these games are!). Skill points have also been added to Spyro 1, which were originally introduced in the second game.
Every single character across all 3 games have been lovingly recreated, with Toys For Bob gifting them with much more enhanced and unique appearances, with a seemingly infinite number of mannerisms, nuances and expressions being added to them as well. The worlds have also had new life breathed into them, to the point where even the darker, much more murky worlds from the originals (Misty Bog in Spyro 1, Hurricos in Spyro 2 to name a few) now feel much more alive and vibrant. The game is an absolute visual treat.
Anyone familiar to the series and newcomers need to pick this game up. If you played and enjoyed the Crash remakes last year, I reckon you’ll find this an even greater pleasure to play. I would highly recommend to parents looking for the perfect Xmas present for their little ones.
Ok, since it’s looking to be a bit of a tradition with the reviews on this game, let’s get the obvious out of the way first- yes there is a big patch when you put the game in for the first time. No it’s not the end of the world. I know some people ate saying it took hours to download, but it only took 45 minutes for me. The patch only affects 2 & 3, so if you can’t wait to play, just play spyro 1 while you’re waiting for the rest to download. Ok? Good. Let’s move onto the review.
This remake is everything I hoped it would be and more. The second that the Artisan home world loads up and that music begins to play, you are hit by a wave of nostalgia. Everything looks so amazing and fresh, yet so familiar. The developers have done an amazing job making this game. As well as it all looking more colourful than a tin of Quality Street, the empty, open spaces are now crammed with scenery and grass, plants, rocks, you name it. Yet they still look completely faithful to the originals. The remastered soundtrack is amazing- very true to the originals, with only one or two tracks that don’t quite hit the mark. The dynamic music is quite immersive- echoing when you’re in a cave, quiet and peaceful when hou9sitting still, and full on when you’re moving around and attacking. However, if you’re yearning for the old sound, there’s an option to toggle the soundtrack to the classic ps1 score.
Spyro 1 is definitely the one that has benefited the most from the remake- from the updated look, to the fact that now every single dragon you rescue has a unique look and personality. They look amazing, and it got to the point where I was looking forward to freeing the next one just so I could see what he looked like. The added Skill Points to the first game is a welcome addition, providing a little extra challenge to spyro veterans.
Spyro 2 is as good as you expect it to be. Nothing really added here, just a fresh coat of paint to an already awesome game.
Spyro 3 really shines. The graphics and textures look awesome here, and it plays better than ever. The controls have been vastly improved for the extra playable characters, notably sergeant Byrd and Agent 9, as well as the skateboarding controls.
The cutscenes are way more expressive now and adorable- they look like they have been plucked straight from a tv show, and there are moments, like Spyro’s fist bump with agent 9, that just really capture the personalities well. The final scene is WAY improved on from the original- I won’t spoil it, but it’s adorable.
Now, there are a few little negatives that just need to be addressed. While the game plays perfectly identical to the originals for the most part, a couple of glides have been made harder due to hit detection, and the charging doesn’t fell QUITE as tight as it should- it’s unnoticeable for the most part, usually only comes to light when you are chasing certain thieves. I also very occasionally had a glitch in Spyro 3 where some of the NPC’S didn’t have the option to talk to them unless I approached them from a certain angle. It didn’t happen often, but it’s worth mentioning.
And just as a little bonus thing to mention, bear in mind that Sparx now has the ability to locate missing gems in all 3 games right off the bat by clicking L3- comes in handy for finding gems that blend in a bit too well with the scenery 😉
Overall, this game is a true love letter to all the Spyro fans out there. You can just tell that so much heart and soul has been poured into this remake. I may even go as far to say that this is the definitive way to experience the original trilogy, though of course I will always go back and play the originals. If you are new to Spyro, this is an excellent way to start. If you are a long time fan, this game is a must-have. I look forward to a new Spyro game in the future.
I don’t recommend playing this game whilst sitting in front of e.g. a PC monitor screen as the 30 fps is very obvious, things get blurry and it hurts eyes a little. I got adjusted after an hour.
Very much like how the Crash remake was done to perfection so is this. Build from scratch in a new game engine but kept true to the originals in every aspect of the game. Yeah its only the 1st game on the disc and it takes around an hour to download the 2nd and 3rd but its worth it considering the amount of data. It was either a huge initial installation or the download but for the detail its very understandable.
I had this delivered on release day and I was so excited to play it. It has not disappointed!! Currently on the Beast Makers world, but so far I’ve been pretty impressed with the graphics and the detail in all of the frozen dragons.
It’s not been the longest of games to play so far but I had the original PS1 version when it was released (showing my age a bit!) so I know where all of the gems are and how to complete each level – but for someone who hasn’t played it before, it’s a really fun, easy to play game with some extra challenges for those who want a challenge. I fully recommend it! Looking forward to playing the other two Spyro games also included on the disc!
Although we waited a long time for this release, and suffered a push-back on the original release date (when ever will developers learn to give themselves time?), this game is exactly as I remember it from my childhood.
Completely remastered graphically, but still maintaining its original charm and sense of fun, it’s the perfect game for a ‘completionist’.
Bear in mind, it is and always was intended to be a children’s game, so it’s not super challenging. This makes the play time pretty short, at a few hours per game. But that doesn’t take away from the enjoyment, and honestly I’ve had to look a couple of solutions up on YouTube, so quite how I figured it all out in an age without the internet, I’m not sure!
Containing all 3 games is a bonus, especially for such a reasonable price. Yes, there’s an additional download to get all the content, but welcome to 2018 where this is the norm. By now we’re quite used to this practice, and I would encourage anyone to upgrade their PS4 hard drive capacity, and then go make a cup of tea while it downloads. No big deal.
Trophy hunters will enjoy completing a few silly tasks that come along with the PSN environment, and with 3 games to explore it’s a reasonably straightforward way to gain yourself another 3 platinum trophies for the collection.
I give this game 4 stars. There’s nothing inherently wrong with the game itself – it really is a great upgrade of a blast from the past – but there’s nothing really groundbreaking or new here either. Expect to play the three games of your well spent youth, but with an enjoyable modern aesthetic instead of cringing at the visible 90s pixels on your HDTV.
Some people don’t seem to understand that Blu-rays can only hold up to 55gb, and this is a 60gb game…plus who doesn’t have internet in 2018? Download the game and enjoy it it is amazing
My childhood favourite series is back, stunning job by Toys for Bob. Cannot fault this, just glad it exists and it’s wonderful <3 Downloads required for the content, blue rays can only hold 55GB, don't rate this inconvenience, rate THE GAME
Ignore the miserable keyboard warriors, if they can get online to moan on Amazon reviews they can get online to download a patch. It’s 2018 people and most games do a day one patch, so how is this any different? Enjoy the first game whilst the other two download it’s that simple. Honestly this game was a punch of nostalgia and I am loving every second from the gameplay, visuals and soundtrack. It’s like I am a kid again.
… and everyone wanted just that. Originals were great, and attempts to change the mechanics too much didn’t work too great. This one looks modern, is modern, but gameplay is old and gold.
There are few minor issues – but they’re really minor. I didn’t encounter anything that would throw me away for 10 hours I have on my counter already.
Most of negative reviews come from having to download, cause not everything is on the disk. What disk misses is just PART of assets from 2nd and 3rd games. The download was 14GB for me. It may be a slight inconvenience, but it’s 2018, and everyone giving negative review cause of that is outright overreacting.
Spyro:Reignited.
When i first heard about this game i pre-ordered it & i was excited as the ORIGINAL release date was about a week or so before Assassins Creed:Odyssey. Then the date was pushed back to November & FINALLY i got my copy yesterday, i pop it into my PS4 not expecting the NIGHTMARE that was about to happen.
Now i have a pretty damn good internet connection but firstly, to even DOWNLOAD the UPDATE, i not only had to *Uninstall* Youtube, but to delete all my Screengrabs from all my games as well as deleting GTA AND Assassins Creed:Black Flag. Once THAT nightmare was dealt with i was in for the biggest shock, the update itself took nearly 12 HOURS to download.
****12 HOURS****
Take into consideration that i got the Pantheon Edition of Assassins Creed:Odyssey for my Birthday & it took barely TWO hours for the updates to download & for me to put in all my Bonus Content.
Now Spyro itself is a pretty simple game, so the fact that the update took THAT long is UTTERLY rediculous-The remastered Crash Bandicoot took about three hours if i remember correctly. Once the update was finished i did manage to re-install Youtube but i sadly can’t do much about my screengrabs. The game itself, despite it’s simplicity, is a beautiful remaster from the games i grew up playing yet i can not get over that update.
The best advice i can give is that, if you’re buying this game, get the update started & just leave it, go out, go see friends or family otherwise you’ll just be sat waiting & you’ll have wasted an entire day waiting for it to update.
I don’t usually write reviews but this game is a perfect remaster. It’s beautiful, old yet new, everything I wanted and more from my favourite childhood game.
Ignore everyone complaining about needing the internet to download 2&3 (who is playing the ps4 without the internet anyway?) and the ‘long’ download time (bloodborne took 13 hours to download…3 hours is nothing!) Sit back, and enjoy everyone’s favourite dragon !
Spyro was part of many people’s childhood in regards to the days of PS1, and after the success of the Crash Bandicoot trilogy remaster, this would be a no brainer.
Firstly, some have rated it 1*, nothing to do with the game, but because the first game is on the disc included, the other 2 you download the data. Considering the first game is 9GB and the other 2 game’s are 17GB, this is lazy by Activision yes, being a cheap scape and instead of including a 2nd disc, or wait, a larger capacity disc, they make us download it. It does say this on the front of the case in the corner, but this complaint by some who must have bad internet is silly because most games have downloads this big now for updates before you can even play it. And it’s unfair to give a good game and the developers 1* for a fault of the publishers.
Now for the game, there’s really not a lot to say, it is a very faithful remaster of the classic trilogy, the obvious difference being a complete graphical overhaul, nice vivid colours and 3D models of enemies with smooth animations, better lighting, improved sound effects. Spyro looks how spyro should, not the horrid thing from one of the later games or animations. The controls add the option of analog stick movement which wasn’t a thing with PS1 until later games.
All in all a nostalgic and fun remaster that’s done right, and a unique platformer in an era of COD and Fortnite cookie cutouts.
Toys for Bob have done a fantastic job of all 3 games overall and have brought Spyro’s worlds to life! If you’re a big fan of the original Spyro this is for you, if you’re a newcomer who loves platformers this is for you. Would make a great Christmas present for kids and old fans.
PROS: Beautiful overhaul of the environments and character models
Very fluid controls, better than the original in my opinion.
Improved, more lively cutscenes
Faithful gameplay, still as fun as it used to be
Loads of worlds to explore, more varied gameplay in games 2&3
Can change between new and original soundtrack in options
CONS : Download required,
A lot of the reignited soundtrack lacks punch that the originals had but can be toggled to the original thankfully
Voice acting is a mixed bag in quality
Toys for Bob have done a brilliant job the original was my first ever game, each level is beautifully recreated and the nostalgia hits you like a bazooka
Excellent, I have all the original spyros over ps1 and ps2, the excitment has built up over months for this, yes its takes a long time to download, but so what, its worth it.
Truly beautiful remake and it’s a must have for any Spyro fan! As a person who was growing up with the trilogy, this game holds a special place in my heart! The game was well worth the wait!
I’m lost for words on how beautiful this game is from the minute you can play. Toys For Bob have outdone themselves with the graphics and animations. The designs for characters are amazing, I would recommend this master piece to anyone.
It’s amazing to be able to play this game again, a real throw back to my childhood. The second and third games are not on the disk, they just automatically download but once this is completely, it’s easy to play and switch between the games.
his game is bliss, pure nostalgia, sure theres a day one patch. all games ARE on the disk, there is just the aforementioned patch to access everything. ive never played the first spyro so as for that one, its brand new to me. for any fan of the spyro series, this is a definite recommendation.
I’ve had an account on here for years and this is the first review I’ve ever written as the whiny negative reviews are ridiculous.
Don’t be put off. It clearly states the game requires content download so it’s their own fault for not doing their research (or simply reading) before purchasing. While the download may be mildly annoying (key word being “mildly”) it doesn’t detract from the amazing gameplay which very clearly does not deserve a 1 star rating.
The game is modern and HD without ruining a classic. Recommended for nostalgic adults to relive their childhood but also for kids (or indeed anyone!) to experience it for the first time. I’ve been looking forward to this for months and it did not disappoint.
Fantastic game, the developers have done such a good job of modernising the trilogy without spoiling its original charm. I don’t think it’s fair for people to be leaving one star reviews on the game when they are complaining about downloading. Excuse me but have you played red read redemption 2 yet? That’s 100Gb!! All games require some form of download. Players deserve to play this game. Don’t put them off with the one stars that bring down the front page appeal of the game on the listings
From what I’ve played so far it’s a great remake. Tons of fun. I’m enjoying it quite a bit.
I don’t usually leave reviews but I felt the need to counter all these 1 star ratings. Rating the whole thing 1 star because you have to download Spyro 2 and 3 while only 1 is on the disc is absolutely ridiculous. Yes, it’s a pain, but it’s no more than a minor inconvenience at worst. All in all, a great remake from what I’ve seen so far.
I have read that Activision heavily pushed Toys For Bob on the release date for Spyro, so I can look at the bigger picture and not leave a negative review based on the fact you have to download the last two games. (can be done whilst playing the first). The cover states content is to be downloaded so I have no issues with this due to having broadband and doing a bit of a research beforehand. It’s a shame some reviewers don’t have broadband in this day and age and have no choice but to leave a negative review on such a wonderful remaster (based on the remastered Spyro 1 game). Great fluidity in control, the same awesome sound track enhanced, excellent game play and level design. Moneybags I missed you. Crash was beautifully brought back as has Spyro, maybe a Syphon Filter or Jak series return in the future? Anyway for nostalgia purposes alone this game is a must.
pathetic people have anything to complain about nowadays , rate the game not the inconvenience, it was exactly the same for crash bandicoot and any other game as far as I can remember , It’s not even a big download so just get on with it , play the game and come back with another review ! Loving it so fa
As long as you are with the times and have your console connected to the internet, you can safely ignore the negative reviews here.
The games look absolutely stunning, with gameplay that is truly faithful to the originals in a thoroughly impressive way. A very good job has been made with this package, I was a massive fan of Spyro in the PS1 days and couldn’t be happier with this remake.
My fianc enjoyed it. Make for kids but can be challenging.
Great game, remember when i used to play it as a kid.
If you loved the original games you will love this, as they have updated the graphics and made it smother to control spyro, its a ust buy for all ages.
Great. Good game. At least it keeps them off cod for a while
A great remake of a game I loved as a kid.
Great game son loves ordered free standard delivery came next day
So far, this game has given my son a lot of value.
Bought as a Christmas present for my sister, it arrived in good time and she enjoys it.
Bought as a gift, went down really well and apperently plays like the original. And even has original control mode
Game bought for my girlfriend. She used to play when she was younger so wanted it again. Hours of fun for all ages
I should be playing RDR2, but the missus has taken over my PS4 to play this, dammit.
Great item, fast delivery. Thank you.
Bought this game for her for Christmas, now I can’t play Red Dead 2 because she’s hogging the PS4….
Fortunately I have enough games in my steam library to work through until she does get bored, so all in all great game!
Blast from the past! Nephew loved his Christmas present, speedy delivery in plenty of time.
Remastered into PS4 from a 90s game bought for a present.
Amazing value for money as it is a trilogy of games. Hours of classic spurs fun. Great graphics.
Great price, cheaper than the shops that I checked and was great to relive one of my favourite childhood games.
Love love love
Fast delivery. Blast from the past with great 4k graphics. A most have to spyro fans. My wife loves it.
Absolutely love this game and it’s brought back so many memories for me since playing it on the PS1.
The graphics are amazing and have been updated really clearly. Runs really quickly on the PS4.
It’s easy to spend hours playing on it.
Brought this for my Fianc for Christmas He loves it & can’t wait to play i
I purchased this for my girlfriend as she completed Spyro games back when they originally came out.
Love it! Also arrived on day of release so was very happy!
brought this for my 23 year old he used to pay it on PS1 really enjoying i
I cant say much, its a game exactly the same like shop shelf!
As described new and sealed perfect. My son will love this in his stocking. Fast service.
Not tried the game yet as it is a Christmas gift, but great delivery time and game in it’s original wrapping. Fab! Can’t wait to see the kids faces.
Well I got this for my son for Christmas he’s never played it before but I have many years ago so I thought I would get it for him, hope he likes it like I do
Great classic games and great price, well packaged and fast delivery on the item. All in all a great purchase.
It’s an absolutely amazing game, whether you are playing it for the first time or playing it again.
great to see this game on ps4 format better than on ps1 well worth playing
This product arrived in time and was in very good condition. Happy with this. Thank you
I’ve spent hours playing spyro now and I absolutely love it.
I wanted this game for the nostalgia hit. Well you get it. The games are just like the good ol’ days, with much better quality. Very Happy!
Excellent trilogy and more than happy with it!
This game has not been played as it is a Christmas prese
Good nostalgic games but some parts of the game are awkward due to cam angles, and swimming is kind of off. But the levels were still fun to play.
Good port over of a great game. Plays smoothly, 3 games in 1 what’s not to love?
Great for people old and new to the game, I played the original and this game is amazing, made me fall in love with spyro all over again!
Was looking forward to playing one of my favourite trilogy from my childhood, but it never arrived. I’ll give it a four star for the game
Just like the Crash Bandicoot trilogy it is amazing great for people playing the games for the first time or ones that ain’t played them in along time
Somehow, Toys For Bob and Activision managed to take the three original classic Spyro games and have turned in much more superior versions of those brilliant games!
The graphics look stunning on this game and is arguably the best kids game out on the ps4 right now.
Love this re-make, music is fantastic, gameplay seamless, story is just as good as i remember.
If you played Spyro as a kid, you need this game!
I’m not noticing any problems with the download thing – all three games are there and ready and waiting. And they’re gorgeous!
5*
