Great quality from Stanley as usual ,vast majority of hand tools you’ll need in one place .seen negative reviews about the case but for its one of the best I’ve ever seen and very sturdy
Trop complet…
50 % des douilles sont en pouces.
4 dimensions de cls plates 10 12 13 14, c’est maigre.
Un tiers du coffret m’est inutile.
Great for working on cars, especially with the deep 1/4 sockets.
Qualita e prezzo ottimi. Ampia scelta di attrezzi. Sono molto soddisfatto
Took one day for delivery! Awesome set and great quality
Franchement je ne suis pas du.
Colis conforme mon utilisatio
Its good, has us and eu sizes. I keep it in my car.
A decent product for the amount of tools for price. It is however important to note that this set doesn’t come with any heavy duty equipment and they are all very basic. Would advise only purchasing if you are looking for a DIY set.
Excellent quality for this extensive range of tools. First class service item arrived ahead of the estimated delivery date.
I hight recommend both the product and the selle
Amazing tool box! Amazing price! Stanley doesn’t disappoint and it sure doesn’t disappoint on this set! Great value.
You can’t go wrong with Stanley, quality tools at a very good price. Worth the extra pennies over the cheap tools option in my opinion.
Really impressed with this set, hubby will love it for Christmas
ell u what …. great set let’s just hope they last. But overall very impressed happy days
This is a brilliant comprehensive tool kit. If you want to do anything – from mechanics to DIY around the house – this tool kit will have most of what you need. There is no hammer, but this is a drive tools kit. The tools are well made, solid, and those with moving parts (pliers etc) move smoothly and without any stiffness.
The packaging is neat, and lays out the tools in a rational way as well as being compact enough not to take up to much space in the boot of your car or your cupboard. Due to the number of tools in the set, it is pretty weighty, but still highly portable. It locks with an easy action, and stays locked. As well as drive tools, there are pliers, screwdrivers, a knife, a tape measure. Most of the tools are in imperial and metric, but the tape measure only measures in inches!
At under 140 this tool kit represents amazing value for money – that is less than 70p per tool!
As you would expect from a trusted brand like Stanley these tools are by no means cheaply constructed; the build quality and durability of every tool is very high. With tools for every eventuality, from car maintainance to plumbing.
If you are looking for an all-purpose tool kit to get you started then look no further, this set offers an outstanding range of tool and an outstanding price.
This is ideal for those who want a general all-round toolkit:
– big selection of wrenches
– more limited selection of screwdrivers (I would have liked to see more) although there are a huge amount of screwdriver heads so you’ll have pretty much every combination you can think of here
– it’s not an electricians kit therefore missing insulated screwdriver and wirecutters
– comes in a fantastic case, hard wearing – it can be a bit tough to take out some of the tools but at least it means everything is in one place
– only downside with the case is that there’s nowhere to store additional tools (again, this is a minor point).
Overall I’m really pleased with it, although you’ll still need your “other toolbox” for your hammer, etc (unfortunately no hammer nor spirit level in this set, but I guess you can’t have everything!
This is a top class tool kit. The blurb describes all the features well and I don’t want to just repeat it so I will try to succinctly state my belief in why this is a must have.
The kit is expertly made in every way; beautiful chrome handles and secure fastenings. The case is light and everything fits perfectly. The handles of the tools are all rubber and make for an easy grip. The most perfect feature of this kit, however, is the sheer range of tools. There is something for every fitment possible. My husband says it is the best possible toolkit he could have imagined and he has thrown out all predecessors as this is such top quality and meets all his DIY needs,
This is truly fantastic and I cannot recommend this toolkit highly enough.
This is a fantastically useful set. It contains pretty much every socket in every size that you could possibly need.
There’s 3 nicely sized ratchet handle sets. The only minor annoyance is that there’s no instructions to tell you that you have to depress a button on the back of the ratchet handle to lock the socket on and also release it afterwards. I spent ages initially thinking that the ball-bearing on the driver shaft was stuck, stopping you being able to push a socket onto the drive shaft!!!! It’s a brilliant idea though – the socket feels very secure indeed. It’s just a shame they don’t give you instructions to explain it!
There’s a good mix of metric and imperial measurement sockets in long and short shafts. There’s also a brilliant selection of hex keys, spanners, screwdrivers and a good Stanley cutter knife. The screwdrivers are excellent. I have bought cheaper screwdrivers before and the minute you try and turn your first screw, the end rounds off (particularly with Phillips head screwdrivers). Nothing of the such with these – they keep their shape perfectly.
It was slightly weird that the tape measure has ONLY inches on it. I am of the metric generation and inches mean very little to me. I ended up going to Wickes and buying a Stanley tape measure which has centimetres and inches on it and is thankfully in a case which is exactly the same as the strange inches one, so fits perfectly in the carry case but did mean an extra 7.99 spent. On the subject of the case, it’s very secure, but on receipt the turning knob had come apart so most of the contents had shaken loose in the packaging!
My only major disappointment is that one of the sockets has been doubled-up in error and I am therefore missing one socket. I have tried contacting Stanley via their online contact form TWICE with no response at all, which is very disappointing from a customer service experience (especially having received such excellent customer service from AEG/Electrolux recently on a different purchase – it serves to emphasise how disappointing Stanley have been).
I’ve had a similar Stanley metric/imperial boxed socket set for over twenty years, so I’ve no doubt this large socket set will last for many decades, particularly with more casual home use. Perhaps this Stanley set’s build isn’t up to my old Britools or newer Halfords professional socket range (which are fantastically expensive), but it’s still a high quality set – in fact Stanley and Britools are now both part of the same Black and Decker group. The tools do clip into the case quite tightly, but from experience nothing is worse than all the sockets/parts falling out when you’re working (takes an age to find and refit them all – and on grass small parts can be lost forever). I got this free to review Amazon Vine set for my son’s 19th birthday and he was very impressed by it – not that he’s got his car yet, but he can see its future uses. So 4*. Although the full retail is around 180 the set is typically discounted to nearer 130, which we think is good value (5*). However if you don’t need the large selection of imperial (SAE/inches) sockets for say old or American import products like mowers or cars, you could save a bit of money and go for a smaller Stanley metric only socket set instead.
The outside of the case looks cool, though I don’t know if such things are a consideration when buying a tool kit. It has a weirdly sci-fi/comic book vibe. Once inside, you are greeted by a comprehensive set of tools, laid out in a moulded plastic. Sometimes the tools can be a bit tricky to get out of their slots, but I imagine this will get easier with time.
Curiously, the tape measure only comes in inches, which is fine if you want to keep things old school. This kit is aimed at car and bike maintenance, rather than the sort of tools you’d most likely use for household upkeep. If that’s what you’re looking for, then I’d recommend this kit.
They come in a smart and hardy case which is where their problems start really. Instead of being the perfect case or toolbox to go with these almost perfect tools, the items are squeezed so tightly into their respective spaces that you almost need another tool set to prize them out. At least this avoids the annoying jumble sale case-opening effect of spaces which didn’t fit the tools properly, but surely there has to be some middle ground here. Another minor gripe is that the tape measure is marked in inches only, fine if you’re old skool, less so if, like me, you work only in mm, cm or m.
The tools themselves are quality; you can feel it as soon as you pick them up and they’ll cope with anything you try and do with them. The screwdriver heads are particularly well made, thankfully they resist the urge to ruin the head of any screw you try to use with them, as some cheaper alternatives do.
Other than that I can’t really find anything else to complain about with the proviso I gave earlier: these are predominantly tools for working with a car, or a bike, or some other sort of machine. This isn’t a set of general household tools but then it isn’t advertised as so either.
This is a good quality tool set very efficiently packed into a simple, blown plastic case.
The tools are very tightly packed into the case (with no room at all for storing any other tools). By and large the tools fit pretty well into the case – as is ever the case some of the spaces are a bit loose and some are a bit tight but overall it is pretty good. Not perfect but definitely one of the better cases I’ve had.
The tool set does contain some generic tools – screwdrivers, knife, wrench & pliers but the primary focus of the toolkit appears to be the mechanic with an the extensive range of sockets (including spark plug sockets).
There are a couple of oddities: no hammer and the tape measure is imperial only – no metric nonsense here; just good old-fashioned inches.
All caveats aside, this is a really nice set of tools.
The first thing our son said when he saw this toolbox was that the huge circular locking mechanism on the front looked like Iron Man’s chest, which would be cute and endearing if he wasn’t 24! Anyway, the box does look impressive from the outside and the Iron Man thingy does keep it closed properly but there seems to be no way to fit a padlock onto it if you wanted to, which most of my toolboxes do have although, to be fair, I have never actually put a padlock on any of them.
Inside is a pretty comprehensive set of tools for working on cars, bikes and other machines. Do note this is not really appropriate as a household toolset. If you are after a set of general tools for the house then go for something that has hammers, saws, chisels, spirit levels, set squares, and fewer spanners.
Assuming that you will want to work on machines of some sort then this has just about everthing you could want – spanners and sockets of every size, both metric and imperial, various pliers, normal screwdrivers and a huge array of screwdirver heads in every shape imaginable. The knife is a ‘proper’ Stanley knife like the ones I remember from the 70’s, solid, metallic and heavy, with strong thick blades and not the flimsy plastic ones they also do now. Just about the only thing missing is a vice grip wrench, which surely nobody can live without.
All the tools feel solid and robust, as they should do at this price.
The tools are a bit let down by the case which has all the failings that cases of this type always seem to have, which is that the spaces for all the parts are either too loose to hold the parts firmly so that when you open it everything is all over the place, or they are so tight that you have to struggle to force the parts back in or to prose them out. In this case tightness is the problem with some of the parts and it is only the large wrench that doesn’t really stay in properly. It is better than many cases in this respect, but still annoyingly far from perfect.
The other little niggle is that everything has its place and everythign is in its place, but there is no scope or room for adding anything else. So if you decide you really need a Mole wrench to complete the set you won’t be able to keep it in here.
Having said that, it is a good set overall and has already proved its worth in dismantling large parts of our boy’s scooter. Very much something to keep in the garage.
Upon opening, I was really impressed. Every conceivable tool appears to have been included in this hefty plastic case, complete with “combination” safe type opening mechansim. The right hand side contains what I anticpate will be the most used items for the casual user like me; screwdrivers, pliers, an adjustable wrench, stanley knife. the left hand side contains almost every conceivable size of screwdriver bit and holder known to man! The larger central section has sockets, wrenches, allen keys, tape measure and a set of spanners.(see attached photo’s for a closer look at each section)
It is only when you start to actually USE the set that you start to notice the omissions for those everyday jobs around the home; a hammer is the most notable exception, a spirit level would be handy, a hacksaw would be appreciated as well, and what about a pair of scissors?) The more you look, the more you start to think ” well what about….?” . There are so many sockets, wrenches, bits etc that I know I well never use many of them, and personally I would trade off most of these for a few more basic general purpose items.
Whilst personally I am thrilled with the set, I would perhaps have gone for one which included a few more household items if I were choosing it myself.
Also included are eight double headed spanners, a Stanley knife, four screwdrivers and a tape measure (mine’s in inches only, but apparently Stanley are aware of this problem and are going to ship subsequent tape measures in centimetres).
The blow-moulded carry case is exactly as you’ve come to expect from a tool case – it holds most tools in place with no problem, but some are held in so tight you can only prise them out with a screwdriver, whereas the 8″ pliers keep falling out already.
All in all this is a good quality driver tool set.
HOWEVER – and it’s a BIG however – this exact same toolset is on sale on Amazon US for almost two thirds less than on Amazon UK. That’s a pretty incredible mark-up whichever way you look at it, and I’d be interested to know exactly why this is so.
To put this review into context I’m far from a professional. I’m not even really an enthusiastic amateur when it comes to DIY. I’m a reluctant “I suppose I’ll have to do it eventually” kind of guy and then the search begins in the garage, under the kitchen sink or in the cupboards to find some, or any, tools.
So therein lies the first advantage of this set. Its all in one place, nicely laid out and easy to find. Obviously there isn’t everything you could ever need in one place but its fairly comprehensive and with a few other additions (such as a hammer) you will be able to cover most odd jobs around the house.
If the packaging feels pleasantly sturdy and of quality, the bits and pieces inside are the same. The Stanley name has a good reputation and you can immediately see why with this set.
All in all this is a good set but the fact it has a few obvious things missing for the home DIY’er means that it doesn’t quite hit top marks. And as well laid out as it is, I suspect some will have trouble getting some of the pieces back in after you’ve used them (I certainly did). Still it’s not too much of an issue.
Women seem to love collecting shoes and perfume, I love collecting tools. I don’t know why but I always go in a DIY shop and look at tools and cases, even though I already have loads. This set is beautifully presented in a hard case with an easy to open lock that can easily be carried (even though it is quite heavy) to where you need the tools. There are sockets galore, more than in my mechanics set, and you also get 3 ratchets of different sizes, screwdriver bits, screwdrivers, hex keys in imperial and metric, pliers, wrench, grips and a spark plug socket. I liked the ratchet heads where you press the button on the top to insert the socket that you want, and upon releasing the button it locks in place. Just press and hold the button again to remove it. The 3 different sizes are great (small, medium, large), the spanners of good quality as well as all the other tools in the set. After using the tools, you have that tool smell on your hands. The blow moulded case holds all the items securely in place, so you know where each bit is and what size it is straight away.
However, the downsides are that to keep the items in place, they are very tight to remove, and can be frustrating trying to remove a smaller item as it seems to be stuck in there really good. The tape measure only has imperial measurements, no cm or mm, which seems absolutely crazy. This seems to be aimed more at the motoring end of DIY, as it has a spark plug socket and has many essential items missing for a home tool kit, like a hammer, saw, spirit level etc.
On the whole a good piece of kit that could easily have been great.
Great stuff.
This is probably the single most expensive tool set I’ve ever had the pleasure to own. The set looks very professional and features a broad range of high quality anti corrosive polish chrome tools, sockets and bits stored in a good quality moulded carry case. All tools feel extremely solid and crafted well. I’m reasonably adept at DIY and mechanics (just about) and have a number of cheap tools in my trolley, so I’m very happy to replacing those with this quality set. One thing I did notice, was that the included tape measure only displays inch markings, whereas the product images display both inches and centimeters. This is not a huge problem, but something worth mentioning.
Overall, I’m happy with this set and can easily recommend it. It is expensive, but when you consider the general price of individual Stanley tools, I think offers good value for money.
This drive tool set is a thing of beauty, with a lovely case that opens like a wardrobe to reveal a gleaming interior.
More practically:
Tools – it is a comprehensive socket and screwdriver bit set with a few extras thrown in. There are three ratchets, a complete set of metric and imperial sockets, 4 metric and 4 imperial combination spanners and 54 drive bits, which should cover almost every eventuality. The ratchets and drive are not cushion grip, which is disappointing.
Extras — 4 cushion grip screwdrivers; long nose pliers; adjustable pliers; hex keys; adjustable wrench; 5m tape measure and a classic Stanley knife
Quality — this is proper stuff with the quality you would expect from Stanley. As noted above, there should have been cushion grip on all the tools,
Storage — the case is not ideal; it is designed to be carried vertically and they have erred to far on the side of nothing falling out of place. As a result it is very difficult to get some of the tools out. On the positive, there is a twist-lock on the front which works well
End use — this is for DIY’ers; which is why the extras are there, and it certainly makes for a very comprehensive set. I did several odd jobs with it over the weekend and it had everything I needed.
Value — expensive at the current 199, but I’m sure there will be deals. This set is available on Amazon in the US for $99.
Overall: four stars. This is a very good set, but I have deducted a star for the very high RRP and the lack of cushion grip ratchets.
First, I had a go with the wrenches. There are 3, small, medium and large which is good. I tried the small one first, but I couldn’t get the socket onto the socket wrench. The ball bearing appeared to be seized up so I got some WD40 and gave it a spray, still it was stuck. I eventually managed to get a socket onto the wrench. Just one problem, I can’t get it off now! I stupidly then tried the medium sized wrench. The ball bearing in this one was stuck too. WD40 again and managed to get a socket on – can’t get it off again! Eventually I realised that there is a button on the back of the wrench head to release the socket! Doh! I felt like a bit of an idiot, but all the socket wrenches I’ve used in the past have not had one of these buttons, the sockets just push on pull off.
Some of the sockets are difficult to get in and out of the blown plastic case which is a bit annoying and the tape measure is only in inches, it has no CM markings which is very unhelpful and a bit dated, it does have a copyright marking on the tape of 1988.
Other than these small niggles, this is a cracking set which will be of great use for my bike maintenance and other DIY jobs.
I say that as a relative novice at DIY and if you are looking for a great starter set then this is an excellent choice. Contained within a smart carrying case is a vast array of equipment to get you cracking. OK maybe too much but you really are spoilt here.
As you would expect from Stanley everything is well made and looks like it will last a very long time.
