I really like this keyboard the magnetic arm rest feels really nice and is easy detachable. The RGB is great and the metal casing is strong. Overall a very nice and strong keyboard.
After going through many keyboards i wanted to get this one as i love Steelseries as a brand, the keys are lovely and soft, slightly loud but thats expected, respond very well when gaming and just typing in general, like some reviews as said it does collect dust but nothing a little straw cleaning bristle brush doesnt sort out.
Good feel of touch!
Makes your working and gaming experience better!
ice clicky keys. key bindings work a treat, and colours vibrant.
I got this keyboard on offer, and already being in the SteelSeries ecosystem, I already knew this was going to be a good purchase.
But it is incredible, the red switches offer a silky smooth linear feel and have a great actuation point, and sound great – not too loud nor cheap.
And the OLED screen has a load of use cases – I use it to display my CPU and GPU temperatures.
A great purchase for anyone looking for a brilliant mechanical gaming keyboard.
Love the quality and the RGB lighting is awesome.. perfect choice for the gamers and professionals.
Easy to use software, apps for everything from feedback lights based on game you’re playing, getting system information displayed on keyboard and even using the backlights to turn .gifs into moving images using the key colours etc. Highly recommend.
Red switches are super light touch, but the whole keyboard feels built to last, which is just as well considering the price.
The software to control the RGB lighting is great and allows for superb customization, also allowing the little LCD screen to be programmed to show what you like, mine shows CPU & GPU load and temps.
Great keyboard, I expect it to last longer than the PC it is attached too.

Very expensive but I got it on sale and it’s amazing how much better it is than my laptop keyboard. Very good lighting effects and easy to use software. Good for typing too not just gaming.
Ordered this back in November but didn’t arrive until February. To be fair to Amazon they stuck with my order and finally delivered. Very happy with the keyboard. The LED colours are vibrant and build quality is pretty good too. Small form factor gives the extra space for comfort.
Love the feel and ergonomics of this keyboard, but the steal series software isn’t great, once it works, it works, but getting the launcher to open so I could play with the lighting and features took 2 weeks
Good quality keyboard, however compared to some keyboard this one the keys feels a bit loose and quite high from key to key which makes you “misclicking” and typing other keys, that is crucial on intense gaming
Thoroughly recommended.
If you’re looking for a keyboard purely for gaming, I’d recommend choosing linear switches (Cherry MX Red or equivalent) instead. Otherwise, the blue “QX2” switches provide a lovely typing experience. Smooth and sharp with a loud click, clear actuation point and light keypress.
The Steelseries software seems reliable, though don’t expect tight integration with many games out of the box. There seems to be quite a lot of work involved with configuring at an in-game event level, which I’m not personally that interested in. It’s quite disappointing that you can’t have something like a simple digital clock displayed on the screen as default. There are tech demos that show this, but it’s not an out of the box feature.
The RGB is fine. It’s a shame there aren’t any separate indicators for the status of NumLock, CapsLock, etc. Instead, it’s just the keys themselves that change colour, which isn’t necessarily always the easiest to discern.
Ergonomically, it isn’t the best keyboard I’ve used. There is only one tilt angle at the rear of the keyboard. The screen can also be slightly hard to see depending on your posture. The wrist rest is okay. Nothing special.
Build quality is quite good. There is very little flex, and the volume rocker has a nice knurled finish to it. The pause/mute button under the volume rocker as well as the USB passthrough on the left hand side of the keyboard are permanently illuminated white, and can’t be disabled/dimmed in software. The QX2 switches are not hot swappable, but Cherry style keycaps should technically fit.
My previous mechanical keyboard was a Corsair Vengeance K60 (genuine MX Reds) which worked perfectly for 9 years until a pint of Rum and Coke got poured over it. Oops. I’ll let you know if this one makes it to 10. Cheers.
First of all I love this keyboard, the red switches sound amazing, it’s very comfortable and light (not cheap feeling) but I have a few issues including the sensitivity of the switches because for some reason the D key is less sensitive to press than any other key on the keyboard which bothers me a little also I don’t know if this happens on every keyboard with red switches but there is barely any haptic feedback which confuses me but I will have to get used to it I guess.
One of the best keyboards in the market at the moment!
Super happy with it!!!
The red switches are very nice but easy to make mistakes with.
This keyboard has nice bright colours and lighting effects which can be customised using the app.
The keys are sturdy and have a nice clicking feel to them when pressed and this keyboard does not feel like one where letters will wear away like with cheaper ones.
Very happy with my purchase and my friend is too.
This keyboard is a bit more expansive than it should be as is the case with most mechanical keyboards. However, it feels premium, it’s great to type on and it’s excellent for gaming as well. It may take a few days (2-3 days in my case) to get used to if you come from a membrane keyboard like me. I had to look at keys but I barely have to now. All in all, I recommend this keyboard.
Well worth the money good looking controls easy to use
It’s a keyboard but the son loves it. Can’t understand why but then again I am old. And I can’t understand why a keyboard should cost so much but then again, going by how much I paid for a gaming mouse for him then I suppose anything makes sense these days.
And son number 2 also has the same keyboard but for some reason he wanted the one without the numeric keypad – which cost the same if I remember right….. strange..
I like this keyboard, however there are a couple of niggles I have with it. For a start, the screen is a bit of a gimmick, it was certainly a gimmick for the first few months of owning the keyboard as the software was incompatible with Ryzen CPUs for a number of months meaning I couldn’t use it for the only thing it is useful, hardware monitoring. I am glad this issue is now rectified, however the steelseries software remains average at best. The multi-function volume knob should have been made ‘grippier’, as it doesn’t offer the best tactile feedback when scrolling/clicking. Due to the compact nature of the keyboard, the singular media button is fiddly, mainly because of the angle at which you have to interact with it.
As a keyboard though it is good, the brown switches are fine, not as tactile as I had hoped, but fine. Lighting is good as is comfort, the latter aided by the magnetic palm rest which is nice. I was a bit worried the palm rest would want to detach all the time but it’s pretty good at staying in place. Overall I am glad I didn’t pay retail for this, however, I don’t think you can get anything better for the same price.
Solid and the keys resistance to pressure is just perfect. You can feel it but it is very responsive and reassuring to the touch.
Was in 2 minds to buy this but I’m really glad I did awesome keyboard.
Amazing keyboard, there are a few different options for lights and affects when pressing the keys. Would highly recommend
At first I could not use it for typing. But after a few days it became easier. It feels like a membrane keyboard but smoother and no mesh at the bottom. A very good keyboard for gaming. Recommend red switch.
I was hesitant to buy this with the high price tag but I’m glad I did. The RGB system is great and the app is easy to use, if you can green, red, yellow whatever colour, the keyboard will show it. Its got a nice clicky sound to it and the keys feel good.
The top right button is very useful for quickly turning your volume down and much more.
Great keyboard and would recommend.
100% worth its price-tag. Its expensive, but what you get is comfort and quality. As a programmer, I got the blue switches, althought they are LOUD, they are pleasantly loud. Nice feedback from the keys, genuine pleasure to type on.
Although a little loud, 100% would buy again!
Solid keyboard and feels great to use. Macro keys come in very handy for a multitude of different games and the illuminated keys and different effects are a nice touch if you take the time to play with them. Had a little ‘dashboard’ top right with a button and scroll wheel which lets you control different illumination profiles and recorded macros as well as the brightness and light timeout settings for the keyboard.
So far I have found this keyboard to be perfect. I did tonnes of research, too much in fact. I landed on this keyboard due to a few conributing factors – 1) availability
2) UK format
3) key type
There were others from logitech, hyperX, and Razer that I looked at but none of these had brown tactile keys in a UK format. Bizarre but hey, this keyboard has not disappointed. The screen is a gimmick but the keys strokes are excellent, actuation is on point, great for typing and it is a great compact size with great styling. My gaming had never been better.
Great Keyboard. Next time will definitely get the full size keyboard instead tho. As the numbers come useful with some games.
Everything from the base to the cable to the key switches, it just feels incredible. I got the Red switches and they arent noisy and feel really nice. The Screen is prefect, and my simple mind is made incredibly happy everytime i look at my happy BongoCat gif playing on the scree
gb,
volume scroll,
TKL,
english UK,
Bonus: smart OLED screen with some cool functionalities
I just wish gaming keyboards would be less pricy, but compared to the competitors, i think this blows away the market.
Hopefully it doesn’t break on me
Hands down best keyboard I’ve ever used. Super comfortable and definitely worth the money
Provengo da una g910 logitech. Un altro pianeta sia per ergonomia che per quali
We have a number of PCs in our house. It says something when people would rather use the PC with the Apex 7 than theirs, so much so that this a second one, for one of the other PCs.
My favourite bit of the keyboard (apart from the keys themselves) is the volume roller, which gets a lot of use. I’m not sure on how useful the LED display is – whilst I’ve had fun changing what it displays, I’m pretty sure I know who is using the computer without having a display tell me.
The keyboard is a must and the quality of the delivery was just like buying the actual keyboard at one of the local stores! Product arrived intact and the box didn’t have a single scratch. Definitely recommend!
It’s crazy how many things you can do with this keyboard with the led screen and the rgb is great. The red switches are buttery smooth and are great for gaming. The led screen has a lot of possibilities you can display gifs, pictures, discord messages and lots more. The rgb has infinite customisation which is amazing and you can control everything in the software.
Bought as a present for my son who absolutely loves this keyboard.
Esta increble lo que menos me gusta es que el keycap tiene poco recorrido
The sound of the keypress, the actuation, the RGB lighting, the feeling of typing on this keyboard or playing games is a life changer. I’ve typed 2 entire Master’s Thesis on this along with 400+ hours of Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Witcher 3 – hasn’t lost an inch of performance! The key-height and wrist pad could be better, though.
My teenager son wanted this for Christmas, loves gaming, great colour in the lights
I’m one of the minority who buy expensive mechanical keyboards and never game. They’re just a dream for typing — especially blue switches — and not enough professionals are aware, because they’re so obviously flashy they look like they’re just for gamers.
This one feels amazing, not too loud, great features, and the removable magnetic wrist rest is genius. And does not get dirty easily, despite what I’ve read in reviews. But for me, one thing that I hadn’t realised is that a full keyboard is less convenient for quick touch typing + mouse control vs a TKL keyboard. So I’ll be returning mine just to get the TKL version. You might want to consider the same if you’re a professional who types a lot.
This keyboard is amazing and I completely recommend it to anyone! The switches are amazing quality, the LED’s are great and the screen in the top right of the keyboard is very cool. If you download the steelseries software onto your PC then you can customize the image on the screen and the LED colours and effects!
The only negative are the keycaps. The keycaps become very shiny over time and make the keyboard look kind of dirty and ugly. So I recommend switching the keycaps for a different set of keycaps.
Overall, I recommend this keyboard but I like using my Razer Huntsman Mini more because of the 60% factor and I like the Razer switches more. However, the steelseries is a good option because of the screen and the overall quality you get for the price tag you pay.
This is a great product. However, being black it shows dust even after a day of cleaning, which I do really frequently. The lighting is brilliant, but I bought a set of pudding key caps from HyperX separately which enhances it 300%. I have attached 2 screen shots, that show 2 different but similar colour profiles. The SteelSeries software that comes bundled is excellent & have never crashed on my pc running windows 7 64 bit pro.
Don’t buy cheap Chinese knockoffs, pay the extra and get a top quality board like this. Hope this review is helpful to potential buyers.
Ottima tastiera veramente, se devo trovare qualcosa che non va la posizione dello schermino che non ben visibile se non hai la tastiera vicino
The wrist pad is very good and makes a huge difference. The only bad part is tjat my ‘R’ key has a bad ping when pressed and the ‘L’ key has a slight ping when pressed. This usually doesn’matter when you have headphones on but can be annoying without any.
The soft wrist rest, individual backlit keys and the OLED screen and customisation are all great features.
Lovely feeling keyboard nice and solid. Bought so it’s going to last!
As expected high quality and performs well , super quick delivery
Pros:
~Immensely customizable RGB experience like no other.
~Compact design but still has the essential manual volume control.
~Macro/RGB/illumination software highly intuitive
~Heavy and solid
~Very plush design and lovely wrist support
~The display can be fully customized with different profiles along with the RGB e.g. you can upload gifs and images from dedicated websites for this.
Cons:
~Very thick cable may annoy some users
~Requires 2 USB ports if using the USB passthrough
~Some audible ping from all keys after pressing which is somewhat annoying (there are no clear fixes for this, e.g. O-rings do not change it.
~If you are moving from a membrane keyboard to this it is significantly loader i.e. I have to be conscious about not waking up my partner who is sleeping in another room. (Edit: 5mm o-rings have significantly lower red the volume if the keys bottoming out.)
Purchased as “used – like new” but greesy and used.
First ever mechanical keyboard and I love the rgb lighting. The steel design itself gives it a premium feel and everything works as it should with fast keys. Also the key pad is very comfortable too.
Wish I had bought the brown ones instead so it has the tactile feedback, these have no “click” vibration.
Keyboard works great though.
The audio scroll wheel is also a button you can click to mute.
Double/Triple press the media button to skip/rewind tracks.
Only has a single USB pass-through unlike its predecessor
The “SteelSeries” key does not act as context menu key like on some other keyboards and cannot be remapped.
I just love this keyboard! I love steelseries and this feels amazing
just used as a general keyboard. the wrist rest feels good, and the action of the keys is also high quality. OLED screen is a bit pointless but I got this on sale so i didnt mind paying extra for it.
Was for a gift, to say the least I’m jealous.
Good mechanical keys
Great backlighting
Comes with decent wrist rest
The Oled is more than just a gimmick and the dial makes changing volume or other setting easy.
All in all a fantastic mechanical keyboard if a little expensive
Great keyboard. I actually love it,worth his money. Its a bit loud, but still I like to type on it.
Before I was using hyperx alloy elite, and there was cherry mx red switches,so I was scared to make some changes for my gaming life,I mean new keyboard. But I did it,so I 100% recommend for gamers, who’s playing something like league of legends, call of duty,or cs go.This keyboard is quick and cool.
Bought as a Christmas gift and they loved it! Easy to set up and great quality!
Love it!
I bought this to replace a clicky mechanical keyboard that had a failing key (I know I could replace it, but I wanted a new toy), and it was a bit loud and annoying my discord friends.
I was a bit hesitant buying a keyboard that was this expensive. But once it arrived then I think it’s worth it.
The keys have a nice feel to the touch/press and typing on it feels great.
I bought the brown switch version and they are so quiet compared to my last one.
The cable is pretty chunky, but that’s because it’s got the two split out at the usb end ( one is for the keyboard and one is for the usb pass through hub)
The RGB is easy enough to control in the app and the coulours are nice.
I know the screen can be a bit of a gimmick to people and honestly I thought it would be for me as well.
But I actually am finding it really useful, I installed the monitoring app in the software and a quick glance at the screen shows me my cpu/gpu temps and usage also shows ram usage.
The included wrist rest has a rubber feel and I like the fact it is attached magnetically rather than clipping in with plastic clips.
This was definitely a worthwhile purchase for me.
apart from the hight and rediclously thick cable, this is an excellent keyboard with a nice customizable OLED if that’s your thing!
This keyboard is amazing! It has amazibg rgb lighting i got the red switches and they sound very staisfying and it was delievered with care and its very nice!
I went through a few KB’s before digging deep & purchasing this one, “well” it was worth it.
Great build quality, very nice blue keys and super flexible illumination.
The RGB is mega flexible, every key can have its own colour and even have its own effect too, mental. The SW to set it up is easy to use also.
The Oled screen is OK, it’s handy to have the volume & mute, maybe of more use for gameplay as its a quick way to change profiles etc.
The only negative is that the cable is very chunky, and it’s not exactly cheap.
My overall thought – I love this this thing
his keybord is amazing for games you need that competitive advantage for. The response time is amazing you barely need to press down that hard. 100% would recomend
Il software impiegato funziona benissimo. Il pannello LCD molto configurabile, si possono anche scrivere applicazioni che lo controllano. Le luci della tastiera sono facilmente configurabile con grande personalizzazione. Materiali e design di prima classe. Fantastica.
Been using this for a while now, best keyboard Iv had would recommend to anyone, also has good customisable rgb
I simply love this keyboard. Everything about it feels great. I do think it’s quite expensive and would suggest only going for this if you can afford to spend hundreds on periferals
I bought this to replace a very ancient and dying Logitech wireless keyboard which I loved, but which deserved a decent burial after many years’ service. I work for 8-10 hours a day as a transcriptionist, and play games in my spare time, so needed something that was going to stand up to an awful lot of abuse. And even having had it only a couple of days, I think this will be it. The Apex 7 is solid and sturdy, and the feel of the mechanical keys is a revelation after the membrane design of the previous ones. It is simply so much more comfortable. Although there is unavoidably quite a lot more “clatter” from the keys with a mechanical one, the Brown switches themselves are quiet and do not “click” on actuation, so it’s a good compromise. I’m learning to “feel” the actuation point, which is resulting in me gradually adopting a much lighter touch on the keyboard than I had before – which can only be a good thing.
Added functions: for me the RGB light effects were less important than function in choosing this one, but now that the board is here and in use I find I quite like them. I work evenings, and it gives me the option to work with a lower ambient light level if I feel like it, which is sometimes quite nice. The OLED display may be useful for some, but for me it really is just a gimmick. It doesn’t work with the main game I play, so I’ve set it to a static image and left it that way. I haven’t had cause to use the USB passthrough as I already have a USB hub on my desk so there’s no need, so I can’t comment on it. The volume roller is excellent for me, as a transcriptionist I am constantly adjusting volume up and down, and this is considerably easier than having to access the volume settings on the PC each time, or even using the push buttons on the old keyboard. This gives immediate, precise fingertip control, which is perfect.
Overwhelmingly I’m delighted with this keyboard, and would recommend it wholeheartedly.
Tastiera meccanica, che eccelle su di ogni fronte.
Ad oggi, non ho trovato una sola nota negativa, consiglio il prodotto.
In love with this keyboard! Exactly what I was looking for.
After owning 4 or 5 mechanical keyboards over the keys this is by far the best. Its comfortable, smart looking, and as gimmicky as the LED screen is its surprisingly useful for showing up your hardware monitors.
The product ia great for sure not blaming SteelSeries. But I was disappointed in packaging because it came just like that without amazon outside extra packaging for protection . Bigger possibility to damage the product.
Customizable OLED screen sold me on this!
I think looking back I would have perfered one without a number pad for gaming however I find myself using it all the time when browsing the Internet.
Coming from a cheap keyboard to this was like going from a scrap car to a top of the line Audi. Keystrokes are smooth yet also have great feedback (feel and noise). I only recommend steelseries now.
I think this is one great looking keyboard. If you want a TKL that has a tactile switch this is for you. It’s got a nice small compact profile that comes with a detachable wrist pad and it’s comfortable to type with. I can game using this without any issues. Highly recommend.
Bought product for sons new gaming pc.son said its awesome!!
Amazing value for money
Build quality is excellent
Comfortable with the ergo wrist wres
Amazing, it is really good for everything I use it for home work gaming and much more
Its amazing and the texture of it is incredible also it is affordable
I’m honestly very surprised, this keyboard has blew me away. I would have never expected a keyboard with a screen to be this sleek and clean. I absolutely love the amount of features this keyboard has. Take the time to read the list I have written below.
PROS:
-One of the best looking sleek keyboards I have ever had, it’s quite minimalistic and the overall feel to it is quality, there is barely any plastic to be seen. (Except for the keycaps)
-The screen is built into the keyboard and is amazing, I love that I can control the keyboards lighting effects, brightness of the screen, macro settings and even a factory reset if needed all from a little screen.
-Keycaps honestly feel nice and your fingers end up resting into curved middle quite nicely, the keys themselves don’t wiggle that much and it’s very nice to type with.
-I chose the cherry red switches as there wasn’t any other switches in stock but I would’ve chosen red regardless, it’s very nice to hear the switches click and provide sound feedback when your typing and it has a linear switch as well, that means when pressing a key down it will feel smooth and linear from top to bottom during the travel of the switch.
-Hand-rest is a pleasant additional touch, I have a wooden desk and my wrist aches with other keyboards but with the Apex 7 you have a magnetic hand-rest that feels nice whilst typing. If I need any space I can easily detach the hand-rest by simply pulling away from the keyboard as it’s only held in by two magnets, that being said there is still enough force between the magnets to ensure no accidental detach during usage.
-The media controls, which are very simple are easy to use and usually register what I’m trying to do (pause a track, skip a track, go to the previous track, mute the volume) so I don’t have to switch screens trying to do it.
CONS:
-This keyboard can get very, very dirty. I had to remove all of my keycaps and even then I couldn’t clean it properly with the switches in the way. The hand-rest attracts a lot of dust that is quite hard to clean unless you have a micro fibre cloth, even then you have to scrub the rubber in order to get the dust completely off.
-I had a problem with a gif not being able to be removed from the screen (you can upload gifs to the keyboard’s screen via the SteelSeries engine application) so I had to factory reset the keyboard.
-The screen for some reason doesn’t have colours, it’s only black and white unfortunately which limited the option for certain gifs to be uploaded.
In summary I’m honestly surprised that a keyboard with a screen could look so clean, especially considering that many many keyboards have tried this same screen effect and it not looking clean as the Apex 7. There are barely any problems I’ve had with the keyboard, and at the price I would recommend this keyboard.
Its certainly a quality keyboard. Aluminium chassis and feels well made. magnetic wrist support is great too and has a rubberised feel.
The RGN functionality is good but the steel series engine is still riddled with app bugs, mainly linked to the OLED screen. But for the basic options it works fine.
I found the cherry reds too light and perhaps black would be better. These keys can activate even if you lightly rest on them, they dont have to be fully depressed to activate.
The screen is gimicky as it is on the 710 rival mouse. Displaying a normal gif is fine but the apps that show other stats etc can bug out so arent reliable. Also only about 6 games have support for this.
I have a small desk so the TKL was just what I needed, it works great, feels nice, and looks good especially in the evenings. The Steel Series software is great for making the most of the keyboard and can sync it with many compatible programs.
Love it! Such a beautiful slick looking keyboard. Would recommend 10/10 for the brown switches perfect for the tactile and quiet feedback. Not too quiet if you are a fast typist regardless very soft keys to the touch and when typing. The customisable program comes with a variety of different options you can choose from very well made. Would also recommend the Rival 3 mouse as this is a perfect combo and you can also use PrismSync to sync both the RBG lighting together. Very happy by this SteelSeries did an amazing job on this keyboard amazing!!!
Honestly love this keyboard, so nice, especially with red switches, but that is just my switch preference, love it.
product arrived working fine but the escape key is snapped off, appart fropm that there is no issues
This is a gorgeous keyboard, easy set up and super clean.
Lovely Mx Blue sound from the keys, though I have put O-Rings on mine and has made it sound even better.
Easy colour options with nice smooth transitions between each.
10/10, solid quality.
Good keyboard with: Highly customisable LED backlight. Mechanical switches. Volume wheel. Detachable wrist rest. Rather useless LED display.
Fantastic keyboard, feels very premium, only complaint I have is a feel the keys are slightly light so I would prefer a little more tensio
I cannot stress enough how good this keyboard is. By far the best on the market. If you’re thinking about it just do it. Steelseries has delivered yet again.
Best keyboard I owned so far.
The wristrest feels amazing but has 1 small problem for me. Which is that the magnet on the left has scratched my keyboard permanently.

Great product, my son is very happy with it. However delivery didn’t met any standards. This item was bought as a gift but it was delivered in transparent foil bag which was not even sealed! Surprise was ruined because my child noticed the package on delivery and as the bag was completely see-through it was obvious what it is and for who. This is not a ‘prime’ service I paid for, very disappointed with Amazon. Luckily the keyboard itself was packed well by manufacturer.
This is easily the most comfortable keyboard I’ve ever used, the beautiful Gateron keys coupled with the nice rubberised wrist rest really make it a joy to type and game on. I think Gateron make the best damped keys on the market, I’ve had Razer keys and Cherry keys and Gateron are easily my pic, I have tried both blue and red and both superb, I’ve always personally enjoyed the tactile blue feedback and click, but the reds are great if you’re a streamer or find the click distracting.
Steelseries software is some of the best on the market as well, I cannot think of a single negative, highly recommended.
