Best headset I have ever had. Not much else to say really sounds amazing and looks gorgeous.
– Great sound quality- nothing overly amazing, but not disappointing at this price range
– Long battery life, not measured but lasts quite a few hours
– Useful battery indicator (green- high, orange-medium, red-low), I know to charge when I’m on orange or red
– Amazing noise cancellation- I can be brushing my teeth with an electric tooth brush, cooking, washing dishes, playing music or a video, but it cancels it all out and the person you are speaking to will on hear your voice
– Easy volume control an mic mute on the left side of the headset
– Can push mic in when not using
– Mic goes red to indicate it is muted when you press the mute button
Great quality, would highly recommend for gamers or even non-gamers who need a good quality headset for general use and calls.
Because Microsoft are idiots, I had to buy a new headset as my current one worked fine on the PS5 and PC, but of course Xbox couldn’t just be simple and force licensing from manufacturers. So I picked this one as I’d been looking at it anyway. It works perfectly on Xbox (Series X) PS5 and PC.
If you have a high pitched sound at full volume, turn off Mic Sidetone in the SteelSeries GG app.
Overall a great headset.
I used to have logitech G930 wireless. It was like wearing a military grade equipment. It was heavy and the connection was always being disturbed. But with this, i forget that i have a headphone on my head after G930. there was not a single connection lost after 1 month of usage on my Xbox. Sound is amazing. So I do recommend.
Very comfortable
Great sound (after you adjust it from there app)
24h battery life is true I charge it once every 2 days (and the charging speed is fast too)
Headband needs a replace after a yea
Switched from turtle beach to steelseries and i am kicking myself i didn’t do this sooner.
After tweeking headset on the computer via App, this is the best headset for gaming i have ever owned. Hear footsteps very clearly.
My son does have any complaints. He says it’s better than the wired Arctis pro, comfortable, battery holds power as it says (early days ), and he uses it for gaming and chit chatting with mates!
Grandson loves them what more can I say, excellent gaming head set well worth the money
Everything about this headset is really good the only thing I had an issue with is the headphones pressed against my head no matter how much I adjusted the strap also I noticed when you first use them you can for some reason hear yourself talking which can only be turned off if you have a PC which is slightly annoying other than that great headset would recommend.
Fit like a dream and easy to connect to my Xbox Series X. Quality is superb and would definitely recommend
With the new steelseries sonar for extra sound capabilities this is an amazing headset for all purposes
Bought these for my partner for his birthday. He loves them!! Very easy to set up, perfect for use with the Xbox. Comfortable to wear. Great fit. Makes it easier to play certain games eg cod. Good microphone and a fantastic battery life
Went through a number of cheaper options including two Xbox wireless headsets (painfully tight and had a buzzing noise in both on Xbox SX), in ear ear buds (too uncomfortable and buzzed on SX), Apple wired earbuds (buzzing and mic wouldn’t work on SX if I remember correctly) and got fed up.
Decided to spend too much (160), but these are excellent. Brilliant sound and mic quality, no buzzing on wired or wireless on SX. Work with my IPad perfectly for pubg mobile, wired and wireless. Completely comfortable (although every so often they hurt my left ear if they’re in a certain position).
There’s no sound cancellation (it does blocked out background sound a little), but I see that as a positive because I couldn’t get used to not being able to hear my own voice when talking online with sound cancellation sets.
Brilliant headphones.
Purchased these approx a year ago now and they are holding up strong.
Footsteps are clear as day
Far away collectibles that jingle sound like they’re right next to you
Music is loud and clear, as are movies etc
Mic is perfect, picks up your voice but barely any background noise if positioned correctly
Battery lasts 4/5 days or an entire weekend which is convenie
I read tons of reviews, and even tested 4 headsets before I ended up buying these. I wanted 1 headset that worked perfectly across platforms. This headset is the only one that managed that. The wired ones I tried got a bit heavy and uncomfortable after a while.
When it comes to the sound I have a hard time noticing any difference at all from any of the headsets, only headsets I notice the difference is the cheap ones. They are a BIT worse. 3d sound is in my opinion just some overrated talk, I can’t for the life of me notice any difference from my 7.1 headset on my computer and the 3d sound I’m supposed to hear on xbox and ps5. And I have played the exact same games just to see if I notice any difference.
In short: if you think it’s a hassle to have more than 1 headset, this is the one to buy.
Attracted by the virtually zero latency I saw on rtings, I decided this was the ideal headset for my purposes (I wanted a pair of closed-back wireless headphones for VR, one less wire right?).
Unfortunately I had a real headache getting my PC to detect it – no USB ports seemed to work and I went through a lot of hassle trying to install different SteelSeries software and drivers when I finally decided to just try the USB-C port I had on my motherboard directly instead of using the USB->USB-C they supply, and surprisingly, it worked! Motivated by this, I dug around until I found another USB->USB-C converter I had lying around and tried that on a regular USB port and that was now working too, so the converter they supplied must have been the culprit.
The sound quality is fantastic; bass is emphasized and the rest of the spectrum is nice and balanced. I only wanted them to fill a specific need but now they might replace my main ones! The range and latency are also phenomenal (they cover my whole house with no degradation in quality). I was expecting them to be somewhat uncomfortable due to the headstrap limiting extension (and I have a quite large head), but, following the pattern of surprising me, they are probably the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever worn, fit perfectly normally and even when over an entire VR headstrap.
Since I bought, I’ve been using The Arctis 7x in my PS5, Series X, Nintendo Switch and PC. It works without a problem in all of them.
A really good and reliable headset. Plus: it’s comfortable.
Downside: It does not have a USB-C connection, so I can’t use the same cables on it that I already use to charge the gamepads/controllers.
My teenage son is over the moon with these. All I heard boxing day was “wow guys, the sound through this headset is awesome”. I listened and yes I agree, they are crisp even and the bass has no distortion at all.
Audeze Penrose X is a better headset than this for sound and microphone. Ultimately this is what you pay for.
7X is more comfortable in comparison. Not that Penrose X are uncomfortable they just don’t have same comfort level as Steelseries, which have always been excellent. That said ASTRO A50 has the best comfort level I’ve expeirnce thus far.
I still go back to my initial statement however, the sound isn’t even close in terms of quality. I could hear things, or sounds rather that I did not know existed in games with Penrose X. They are by far the best audio headset I have came across.
For this reason sold my 7X headset. And kept the Penrose X at time of writing I have used Penrose X for upcoming a year now.
Of course price is more, you pay for better technology. Hifiheadphones in UK for Penrose X allowed the price gap to close (currently selling 220.00 opposed to 298.00 when I last looked). It was well worth the difference though.
Having always bought what I consider the best and fortunate to be able afford the best. I’d say Penrose X currently is the best premium headset.
B&O have a more expensive headset, they look amazing, sound amazing (Penrose X still shades sound quality but only just) but the microphone, or “virtual microphone” is awful. It really should be better for the price that is more than Penrose X. They look amazing though very premium. Shame about sounding like your playing underwater when talking to friends.
That said, I know this is an 7X review, by all means a brilliant, versatile and comfortable headset. Just not the best for sound in both your ear or microphone (not that Penrose X microphone is much better). I’d recommend 7X. Just not as much as Penrose X.
I had both headsets in hand when deciding which to keep. This was a direct comparison between 7X and Penrose X for those that may ask how did I compare.
The headset is really good quality and the sound is amazing. The only downside is that the mic is very sensitive and picks up audio at quite a far range. The battery life is fine and easily lasts for 20+ hours. Overall the product is worth the money.
Brilliant sound quality for music gaming and movies. Also compatible with the PS5 whereas the white PS5 version is not compatible with Xbox (strange decision) but hey ho. Great price for what you get and loads of connections and options. Brilliant!!!
Great pair of cans ..Audio is great and battery life last all day once fully charged, and very comfortable to wea
If you wanna play game cross consoles and desktop/laptop via only one wireless headset, 7x is the best choice
Pros:
1. wider sound stage and detail sound
2. The best breathability over other headset
3. Adjustable headband suits for most gamers to play longer
4. Long battery life for play over weekend
Cons:
1. MicroUSB charging
2. Headband slides while head move up and dow
The audio quality is amazing on these. The microphone quality is straight up garbage for the price you’re paying.
However, if you play on both xbox and pc and are deadset on a wireless mic, I’d recommend getting the Arctis 9X. It can connect to xbox without a dongle and can connect to pc and phones via Bluetooth so you also don’t need a dongle. It can be annoying if you don’t have many USB slots or poorly spaced USB slots as the dongle is very wide.
The headstrap takes a little getting used to but the headphones fit snugly, sound great and work on my pc and switch flawlessly.
Seriously that strap that separates the top of your head and the headphone band is genius. I can wear I all day and it’s not annoying.
Make sure you use the app to tweak the bass up and the headphones will sound perfect.

I love this headset, and have been using it for my XBox Series S, Switch, PC and PS5. It comes with all the required components, and I have had zero latency on any of the devices. The Steelseries Engine app on PC also has some robust equaliser features. It’s not the cheapest headset on the market, nor the most expensive, but I can vouch for the build and audio quality. I also find the headband very comfortable and the cloth ear cups are great for a sweaty guy like me compared with the usual leatherette ones which get sticky or gross. My ears can breathe, whereas with my Pulse 3D set get very hot after a while. I will update this if I encounter any issues, but as of now I am very happy with the purchase.
If you are lucky enough to have a Series x (or s) and a PS5 and want just ONE headset to use this is the one.
Works perfectly across both platforms and PC.
Download the SteelSeries software to you PC to set them up to your liking. Just make sure you plug the Bluetooth dongle into your PC and not Micro USB from the headset to PC. It has to connect via Bluetooth.
After using for a few days I highly recommend these. Res Evil Village sounds amazing as does Destiny 2. My home cinema is a very high ATMOS / DTS setup but these are perfect for when the Mrs is working from home or gone to bed early etc.
Mic wise again..no issues at all. Lots of setup options via the software so again its a must download.
