An upgrade from my stentor 1. Nice violin for the price.
I’ve been wanting to learn to play the violin for quite some time so my partner bought me this instrument for my birthday. Have been having lessons for a few weeks and my tutor has confirmed it is a good quality instrument which is producing a nice sound. Has all the kit you need for starting out, with the exception of a shoulder rest which I would strongly recommend getting, and the case is also excellent quality for the price. Very pleased with this and would recommend it to anyone who is learning to play; you won’t be disappointed.
Buona fortuna!
Got it , played it and is unusually good for an English instrume
Very happy with this violin, was recommended by Alison the you tube violin tutor. Strings that came with it were worse than expected so had to change them. With the new strings I am very happy with the sound!
Very beautiful instrument! Nice case with bow and Rosin. Good work with wood, light weight with beautiful sound.
Brilliant!!!! I love my new violin. As described. Perfect size for me. Fast delivery.
I bought it because my teacher suggested me and now I’m really happy to have it.
My daughter loves it. Been using from long time and no problems at all.
I played violin for 8 years as a kid recently decided to buy one to play on the weekends. This violin has a nice sound, it comes with a beautiful case and is already strung, compared to my student violin, this is a very good value for money
Lovely quality violin, holds tuning well and microadjusters on every string makes it easy to tune even though it is so small!
The bow is good too, those that has commented it is poor, I wonder did they use enough rosin? It did take a while for me to cover the hair sufficiently on first play for it to have enough grip to make a decent sound – new strings and squeaky clean hair isn’t a good combination, you need to use a lot of rosin and play a bit to get things going, my four year old hasn’t had any trouble since I did this and since then we haven’t had to use anything other than a usual amount of rosin now and then.
Very good quality product and daughter is enjoy playing. Quality of sound is very good and no feel of screeching. I recommend this product for the Beginners.
Well built and a nice sound, I couldn’t really expect or want more for my 1st violin, especially at this price.
It’s a good violin, but the bow is a little cheap.
violin arrived well packaged and all set up ready to play pretty much. I probably need to tune it slightly though but extremely pleased with the quality of the violin. Came in a lovely case and rosin was included with a bow in great condition.
Great product, very nice wood, and quality. Beware product is Made in China to English order, so you cant be sure on workers rights and environmental standards
Lovely starter instrument just bought it for my daughter who has grown out of her little one. However I would advise you spend money on some good strings as it makes a huge difference to the sound.
at about 11 years old, your child will need a full sized violin and this is a low cost way to achieve this and will be suitable to grade 6. A well made item and we are all very pleased with i
Arrived promptly. Nice beginners violin. Good sound and appearance. Granddaughter loved it.
Great violin for a student. The sound is amazing and worth the money. definitely recommend it.
It is a beautiful instrument with a very good tone.
My girl is getting on really well with this. Stylish, well made and keeps it’s tuning well. Only neg is that it was supposed to turn up all set up and it was far from that. But the instrument itself. Fine.
I usually can’t be bothered writing reviews but I was so pleased with this violin that I was compelled to say something. I just did not expect anything so a beautiful, so well made, and that sounded so good for the money.
This is my first ever violin and i have to say i am so happy with mine, It came all set up in a really nice padded case and the bow is really nice and not too heavy, I brought a shoulder rest separately as this does not come with one, and some more better quality Rosin but this is a very nice Violin which plays lovely and although i am not good at playing it does sound nice when i practice my scales, There are fine tuners too on every string so no need to tune it from the pegs as this can brake the strings with any violin, It looks and feels great quality, I would recommend any one to get this violin, i really do not think you would regret it.
This is my first violin and I absolutely love it. Great quality and it arrived the next day all tuned in.
After a 20+ year absence, I decided to pick up the violin again, mostly to see if picking up am instrument you used to play was like riding a bike. Well, yes and no. The music theory and note reading came back pretty quickly. The actual playing on the other hand, that is going to take some retraining of your adult brain, and that my friends is where this violin comes in. This is actually the second violin I have purchased in this new journey of re-learning this instrument. I had read great reviews on the Stentor 2/1500 but at the time couldn’t justify the cost, and spent $60 on a Mendini MV200…..and regretted it almost immediately! After struggling for a few months with the Mendini, I finally bit the bullet and went for the Stentor instead. Oh my goodness I should have done this in the first place, it has already made such a difference. For a “beginner violin” it has a great sound, very little scratch to the sound it makes, which is great. As a beginner (brand new or returning to the instrument) you’re already going to be scratchy to begin with, and having an instrument that doesn’t sound that great is really going to be very discouraging. I know I am still in the beginning stages, but after upgrading strings, bow, AND rosin on the MV200 and it still sounded awful, there had to be something. Some of it, granted, is my rusty technique, but I knew that I couldn’t be THAT bad! The Stentor has allowed me to assess that while I have a long way to go before I can tackle concertos, that having the right instrument definitely makes a difference in your practice and your enthusiasm to learn. I imagine that I will probably be able to learn and grow with this instrument for at least a few years before I need to upgrade again. I will update this review in a few months as I get further along in re-learning how to play.
I didn’t buy this from here, bought it at my local music store about 10 years back. It’s brilliant. I’m looking back now since I’ve upgraded to ~1.2k violin and ~200 pounds bow. The sound between the two violins is obvious but this violin carried me throughout my youth. Perfect for beginners. Doesn’t lack in any major qualities. The sound it produces is spectacular for the price, and perfect for beginners to progress through.
Amazing instrument. Especially for the price. Only problem was I had to replace the strings and one broke but they’re cheap strings anyway that co e with a student violin. Over than that I love it. Would definitely recommend this to someone just starting out on the violin like I am as it sounds grea
I bought this violin as an adult starter and I am very pleased! Although the rosin that came along with the pack wasn’t very good.
This is a great Volin brilliant for a first time learner worth the money.
Great for a beginner!
Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn the Violin.
Exactly as described – well set up, popular student violin at a competitive price.
Very happy to recommend both the seller and the product – and am happy having taken the gamble that this will perform better than slightly cheaper budget items that aren’t set up / checked prior to shipping.
Delivered in two days. Great quality. Came with free tuner. Very happy
Violin ok but the bow hair was caught in the clip that fastened it the the case thus causing some hairs to break when we tried to get to bow out!
excellent product. Bought it for my 7 year old who loves it.
Very quick delivery thank you. Love it, a beginner. The instrument has won admiring approval from a player too.
Very impressed with this one.
Comes in a very nice looking case – the violin looks the business and very smart indeed
Stentor Student 2 Violin Outfit 4/4 + Free Workshop Set Up
Brilliant customer service. I ordered the 1/2 for my young daughter but discovered that she needed 3/4 instead. The seller exchanged it without any problem. Very pleased with the item and the service received. I would definitely recommend them.
I’m a beginner violinist who wanted to find a good quality violin that wasn’t extortionately priced. I did some research on violins after Alison the online violin teacher (on youtube) recommended a Stentor. I would highly recommend this product, I enjoy playing it and am very happy with my purchase.
Excellent service and packaging. Stentor violins are a very good reliable student violin. I always recommend Stentor violins to my students.
Excellent Violin. Very impressed with the quality of the instrument, accessories and case. Would certainly recommended as a first Violin.
This violin is really good value for money. It’s very well made and has a nice sound. As a starter violin, it’s definitely worth paying for this than some of the cheaper violins on the market. It came in a lovely case which also contained the bow, rosin and a tuner.
Lovely violin with good sound, my daughter and her teacher love it.
Bought this for my son for his birthday, he loves it, very well made with a sweet tone. A quality instrument at a very good price.
Arrived on time, my daughter is very happy with violin and its colour. The music teacher is also very pleased too. A good violin for students.
Would recommend!!! Is perfect and just the job for my 11 year old son who has just started secondary school. Excellent strong case too
Lovely violin, bought for my daughter – makes a good sound, and the case feels solid enough to take to lessons and practices.
Apart from immediately replacing the included strings with Dominants, for the money it’s going to be nigh impossible to get a better violin and it’s perfect for beginner-intermediate players.
I always wanted to learn the violin, and never had the chance. But even at my age, and when I found an opportunity to get it, after lots of research in my country and online (including here in Amazon) finally I decided for the Stentor II student violin… And I don’t have words to describe that I hit the jackpot in my decision.
This instrument is great; amoung tons of chinese brands and products, you can feel the quality of this one. It is solid, the makes are good and the material is what they describe. It is one of the most expensive from its category, but believe me it worths any penny. It has been helping me to learn at home in the free time. The strings are not the best but you can always get better quality strings like Dominant’s, but before you spend that money the ones it comes with can help you to understand and practice the basics. When you can already play better, you can change them and the sound will be infinite better.
Almost 7 months and I am starting to practice and play “Nearer my god to thee”. Takes time, you need to be patience, but slowly you will see the results.
The bow has good quality but the rosin is cheap, however it works good for the bow; and the case is formidable, very good and solid, with a pocket for your shoulder rest.
What else you need beside what the pack offers? Basically you’ll need a violin mute (to avoid your neighbors kill you, it has a strong voice), a shoulder rest (if your neck is large), a tuner (The’re many cheap here in Amazon), and a couple of soft flannels, one to clean the violin after each rehearsal and one for your neck to avoid get scratched by the violin’s button and chin rest bracket.
Beside that, the looks it has is stunning, any person I showed it to him/her, that person falls in love with it.
Edit: Added a couple of pics of mine, for those asking about the color. It is not as red as the promotional pics shows; it is kinda light brown, but still a beauty piece.
Ordered Sunday evening and arrived today, Tuesday. rally impressed by quick delivery. Bit disappointed though that there is no cloth to cover the violin in the case. My son’s old, smaller violin was less than half the price and still had a nice cloth.
Obviously haven’t played much yet, but seems fine so far.
Very happy! This violin is very easy to use and has a clean mellow sound. It looks good and is easy to tune. Cheap beginner violins are notorious for screeching–particularly on the E-string. No such problem with this one! I had heard that beginner violins invariably come with poor accessories and was prepared. I had already purchase a new set of strings, new rosin, and a carbon fiber bow in anticipation. However, the strings on the bow were cheap but not so bad, (Red Label), and the bow is very good looking and produces as good a sound as a very expensive Purnambuco and Ivory bow that had been loaned to me. It may be that this cheap wooden bow will warp later on and deteriorate over time–but right now it does a very good job! The case is a good serviceable one, protects the violin well and has room for accessories. The top surface of the case unzips and can take sheet music. It is a bit too narrow for my music books, but I can squeak them in with some scuffing of the corners. I expect that this violin will be able to do all that I am qualified to ask of it–for the next five years at least!
UPDATE: After four months I am still very satisfied with this violin! There have been absolutely no problems with it at all. I took it to a reputable luthier to look it over shortly after receiving it. It was already perfectly set up–as delivered. He seemed quite surprised! An excellent buy!
Perfect for beginner! I don’t know there would be tuner in it that I bought one before the violin come. I think you should include it in your product description. Overall it is fantastic!
Amazing deal: violin, bow and case all for a very reasonable price. I’m a violin teacher and this is to take to work when working with young pupils. One star deducted because the violin I received was clearly a returned item (it was scratched and the resin had been used)
very good quality for the price. Sounds very nice too and is a definite step up from Stentor Student 1.
Am very happy with this violin I brought it for myself to use and was pleased when I opened it and could actually use it. Unfortunately for me my daughter was in the room when I opened it and she had previously played cello. She has now taken my new violin and is using it I may have to buy anothe
This is a great violin for a beginner, the sound is great and it looks a quality item. It comes with a lovely sturdy case and was packaged well. The delivery only took about 3 days. Overall I would say that you are getting good value for money with this violin.
For the price, you can’t beat it.Sounds good and it’s perfect for the beginner.
Lovely little instrument. Noticeably nicer sound than cheaper models. Violin teacher is impressed with the quality. Good quality bow and case too. My daughter is a smallish 6 yr old – this (1/4 size) is the perfect size. Any larger would have been unmanageable for her.
Arrived quickly, took it to the Violin teacher to be set up but didn’t need alot of tweaking. Its a Lovely Violin. Thanks
Lovely violin. Case was more robust than expected. Good value. Grandaughter will be delighted I am sure.
my daughter is enjoying playing the violin her teacher recommends other students should play the violin.
This is a very sturdy and quality product. Pleased with the sound.
I would recommend this to anyone who is learning and preliminary stages or until at east grade 4 ABRASM.
I had the stentor 1 in the 1/4 size. Upgraded to this one when my daughter needed a 1/2 size. We’re both delighted. A real improvement in sound
I bought this as a present for my daughter. The violin plays really nice and was worth the money. Delivery was very prompt and it arrived in condition. The seller was very helpful that arranged an exchanged a correct size for me only a few days. I am very pleased with this purchase. I would have no hesitation recommending this product.
Nice violin at a reasonable price. Good for young learners.
This is a great violin for a beginner, it is sturdy and comes with all the essentials, including rosin. As it does not come with a shoulder rest, I would recommend buying one at the same time.
I am a beginner and have been playing for a few weeks and it is giving a good quality sound. It is worth the price, as it is a very nice violin.
Arrived quickly in perfect condition, very well packed. Looks very nice and well made. Even as a complete beginner I’m able to produce a tone out of it that is not entirely horrible, so this bodes well for the future as my abilities improve.
I really like the violin. I am only adult beginner but after some research decided to buy Stentor II and I love the sound of it. Very encouraging for further practice.
Overall, I am very pleased with this violin. However, looking from the bridge down to the nut even a non-expert like myself could see that the strings were not evenly spaced on the bridge. Also the G string was not quite right (sat too high on the nut.) I took it along to a violin specialist who fixed it in about 20-30 minutes. She only charged me 10 so I’m not complaining. But it’s the reason I’m giving it 4 rather than 5 stars.
only down fall was it still needed to b tune before playing
this violin is very good for my daughter (8) who has be playing now for 2years
Its excellent value
It is well made and sounds quite reasonable. Child and parents are very pleased with the instrament build quality and the case. Really good little package.
I play the fiddle and bought this as a first violin for my 10 year old granddaughter, I was a little dubious about buying this model going by reviews elsewhere, but from a players point of view this is more that enough for a first instrument. it comes with a decent case and bow and was very well set up ( I know what I’m talking about). Omega music supplied a check list complete with how to care and look after the instrument ( nice touch . ) I then took it out of the case , tuned , and retuned it to let the stings settle over a couple of days before presenting it. I really can’t fault this instrument.
Bought as a present for my daughter who is teaching herself the violin. She loves it. A good size and lovely case to keep it in. Came with a cleaning cloth and resin and bow so everything to get her started.
I bought this for our daughter aged 6, as I had read that a stentor 2 is a good learner’s violin recommended by many violin teachers. It has not disappointed. The sound is nice, the violin looks well made and the case has some handy features including straps, places for sheet music and rosin. I bought rosin separately but then discovered that it was already provided in the violin case.
bought this for my son. Over the years been hiring it – what a fool! the price we paid to buy was very reasonable; it arrived promptly and just in time for my son’s lesson. it was well packaged & in perfect condition. My son loves i
I got a very nicke violine for a good Price. It came very soon, only a few days and is complete new. I’am very happy with it.
The best violin ever, very happy. Good stuff good price, so far so goo 😉 do not doubt it and get it.
This is a sturdy little instrument that is well constructed and great for a young learner. A nicer kit than previous hire kit we relied on at first with good sound. Would buy this make again.
Good delivery. Excellent first violin in a firm case which is light and easy for my daughter to carry to school herself.
We got this for my Daughters 9th Birthday. It was the best surprise. A beautiful violin presented in a sturdy case (colour option would have been great). Highly recommended product for the young keen musician.
I bought a cheap violin for 40 and regretted it within a few weeks as it fell apart. I bought this after an online violin tutor recommended it (Alison – theonlinepianotutor – youtube name) I am very please with this purchase, it looks a lot better and sounds SO much nicer. Its still a student violin but the quality is apparent. You can get violins for a lot cheaper but this is an investment worth making if you want an instrument which will last.
A lovely first violin for my grand daughter. Pleased it was all set up. Quality very good and well worth the money.
This was bought as a present for our daughter who loves it . The violin plays really well and was worth the money.
would recommend to others
I bought this as it was recommended by my violin tutor. It came tuned, and with a little block of rosin for the bow. It sounds lovely, perfect for a beginner. Very pleased with my purchase.
I bought this for my daughter, it arrived really fast (even quicker than I expected ) and she picked it out of the box and started playing. I was really happy with the purchase. Would Recommend.
CAME ON TIME NO DAMAGE AND USED IN FULL TO FURTHER LEARN TO PLAY THE VIOLIN ON A FULL SIZE INSTRUMENT
This is a much nicer violin that my daughters 1/4 size.
It has a nicer tone and is abit louder.
Well worth the price.
My daughter loves it.
Very good quality violin, excellent for 4yr olds! will be ordering more in the future. Nicely made and arrived on time.
Lovely looking violin, with good quality sound. Would recommend this violin to anyone beginning to play the instrument. Arrived in perfect condition.
This is the second Stentor violin my son has had. He graduated from the 1/4 size. The quality is just fine and it goes for a good price too.
This is the second Stentor violin my daughter has had. They are a good make for young violinist. The violin came suitably packaged and in good time.
Bought this violin rather than pay the rental fee the school proposed, since it worked out much cheaper. It was just fine and a great starter violin for my son. The hard case is very useful to protect it when taken on the school bus.
My 3 year old daughter started violin lessons last month and we ordered this violin on recommendation from her teacher. I am very impressed with the quality of the violin. The case is also really nice. Overall, a really good product and would highly recommend this for anyone starting out on the violin.
Everything was delived ontime and the violin is just what i expected, good product.
My daughter loves it and is enjoying leaning on it.
This violin came in perfect condition and with the bridge already in the correct position (some manufacturers pack the violins with the bridge flat) and when played made a lovely sound. So far it has served me well (much better than my previous).
The violin arrived soon after ordering and came with free rosin!
Great violin, if you’re just starting to learn. It has a nice tone quality to it, and comes with all the other accessories you need. It probably wouldn’t be an ideal violin for an experienced violin player, but perfect for beginners! And really good value too.
Delivered quite quickly and in good condition apart from the Rosin which was smashed. Happy with the instrument.
The violin arrived in less than 24 hours, so that was a big plus.
This was a gift for my daughter for her 3rd birthday and she loves it. The colour is different to the one pictured, it’s dark brown and not as attractive (as the picture) in my opinion. Also, the adjusters are loose so the violin can’t be tuned, it makes a terrible sound every time my daughter tries to play it, the strings are too loose. I was impressed with the case and the rosin that came with the violin, it all looks great. All in all perfect gift for any child.
“A bad workman blames his tools”, nothing could be less true when purchasing intruments for beginers. If you want your child to give up or loose interest fast buy a cheap instrument. Yes the Sentor II is more expensive than other starter instruments on the market but the sound is so superior meaning my daughters practising does not grate on my nerves as much as it would do on a cheaper brand, and she is now so keen to learn as the sound is like a “real violin” especially when she uses a more expensive bow. The only problem was that the instrument didn’t arrive in good time but the supplier did have a valid reason for this so it does not put me off recommending them.
What a wonderful sounding violin! Bought for my daughter on here 8th birthday and she was really pleased with it. She’s trading up from a 1/4 size to this 1/2 size and didn’t have any problems adjusting. The sound is rich and full and compliments her mother’s full size and more expensive violin. This is a serious instrument for not a lot of money – it’s worth every penny and then some.
It’s also worth mentioning the case is very well designed, functions well and looks great.
Certainly a great violin package and the quality of it’s sound and construction will (hopefully) keep little ones motivated to develop their musical talents.
