Excellent quality and well packaged item. My little girl loved it. I was advised by her violin teaher to buy from the brand Stentor due to its known relaibilty and top quality. Fast dispatch too, thank you!
I bought this violin as a total beginner as I had never touched previous. It wasn’t one of those 70 cheap ones yet it wasn’t a highly expensive one either. It came with a BEAUTIFUL case with 2 compartments. The outside one, I use for sheet music and the small on the inside, I use for rosin. The bow is quite nice with real horse hair (it really gives it a sence of premium quality). But, unfortunately, the G string snapped the moment I tried to tune it as the peg wasn’t secured properly. Another bummer was that some of the varnish was chipped and cracked. This didn’t effect the sound (I don’t think) but it did effect the look and aethstetic of the violin.
Overall, I would recommend this as it’s still very usable, but maybe invest in some extra strings. I recommend Prelude stainless steel ones.
Really Great customer service, quick responses to messages and made gestures of goodwill. Violin came well packaged and ready to use. Sounds really good

I’m an adult learner and before this violin I went for the cheapest on the market. That was a huge mistake. As a beginner, making beautiful sounds with your violin is almost imposible but having a decent violin helps a lot to fall in love with your instrument. I’m so happy with the quality and sound of my Stentor II, stays tune for much longer, it’s beautiful and the sound is much much nicer than my cheap violin. Definitely worth the investment.

Very beautiful instrument. It’s my 1st violin ever and I’m super happy with it.
Just make sure to get a proper rosin (this one can go straight to the bin), and replace the strings. These ones are very steel – like and metallic (not to mention they snapped on the first tuning).

Very good for beginners and has everything you could possibly need. However, the reason I have not given 5 stars is due to the violin not being tunes. This us only a minor inconvenience as this is a learning lesson for beginners.

Having not played a violin for over 30 years, I was very undecided between buying the Stentor 1 or Stentor 2 student violin, as there appeared to be very little discernible difference between them both, other than 1 being cheaper than 2. I didn’t want to spend out on a more expensive violin to begin with, until I was sure I wanted to continue playing longer term. The Stentor 1 or 2 was what was recommended by a number of reviewers, plus the Online Piano & Violin Tutor on You Tube, who’s lessons I’ve been using to teach myself during the lockdown.
In the end I settled on the Stentor 2, as I felt that the music played in all of the videos using the Stentor 2, sounded slightly smoother and a richer in tone, than when played on the Stentor 1. Violins can sometimes sound like a bag of screeching cats to begin with, so for both our families sake, and that of our neighbours, I felt the less scratchy the better, and I have in deed found this violin to be much smoother and nicer sounding than the rubbish one I had back in school.
We found the violin tuned up very well, first time around. I asked my more musically experienced other half to tune it for me, so as to make sure I was starting out with the correct notes. He used an online violin tuning video and his musical ear, and didn’t have any trouble or break any strings – apparently the trick is small, slow and steady turns, and to use the fine tuners, so as not to put too much strain on the strings! I think spare strings would have been a good extra in the starter package, especially for the beginner, as it’s quite easy to break the strings when tuning if you haven’t done it before.
I’ll be investing in a digital tuner that attaches to the body of the violin for a more accurate tuning (D’Addario PW-CT-14 NS Micro Violin Tuner) for when I have to re-tune the violin by myself. I will also be purchasing a decent shoulder rest, at the minute I’m using a folded tea towel as padding during practice – I had forgotten how much violins can dig into your collar bone!
One other thing that I will mention, is that there are better quality rosins available to buy, such as Sartori resin, which is expensive but it lasts for years. The one that comes free with this Stentor 2 violin is ok, it makes the bow work, but there are better quality rosins out there which is important for sound quality. At a later date, as I progress, I’ll probably invest in a set of better quality strings – such as D’Addario Prelude 4/4 Scale Medium Tension Violin String Set, to replace the ones the violin came with, though I think they are fine to start off with.
All in all, for a relatively cheap starter violin, the sound is nice, it tunes up well, it arrived quickly, and it looks good. I’m very happy with my purchase.

Nice violin. Bought for my granddaughter who loves the violin and wanted to learn to play. Not so good being serenaded at 7am on a Sunday morning. Stores away in case. Good price. Fast delivery.
Best violin for beginners
I have been using it for a few month and it is in perfect condition
It is worth the money
I bought the violin nearly a year ago. Started from a complete beginner level. I’ve been playing it for nearly a year and it’s a great instrument. It was recommended to me by my teacher. It has nice sound, it comes assembled (needs tuning).
It’s great for a beginner and intermediate student.

Before buying the product I was a little apprehensive as it is not cheap. But now that I’ve been using it for a few months allready, I definitely recommend you buy this violin. His voice is very beautiful and pleasant and I really enjoy plaing on it.
While it would have been more perfect if he had come with a violin tuner, it still doesn’t take away anything from the positive feedback I give him
2nd one weve ordered as daughter need larger size as growing. Made beautifully and comes in sturdy case. No faults. I would fully recommend.

My son has been learning to play violin at school for about 4 years now. He’s had a beginner’s violin that was pretty basic and he wanted to go on to something a bit further up the scale. He asked for this one as it was recommended by his tutor and it does have a lovely sound to it. He finds it easy to tune, and the quality is lovely. The case is extremely robust and it is lovely instead. Lovely instrument that won’t break the bank.
Worth the extra for Stentor 2 over 1. Sounds great. Loved the case.
My daughter loves her new violin. I researched and found out the Stentor is a good make and this was the cheapest by far. The case is lovely too. It was packaged well.
My daughter loves her violin and we got it for a very good price. Although she was devastated when she tried to put the bridge on and it snapped, even before she was able to tune it.

Great violin I have been using it for a few months now and it’s not failed me. Although it is best to purchase a shoulder rest too and possible a mute which isn’t included

Bought this violin for my husband who is learning to play Scottish fiddle. He was happy with it at first as it was. Then bought new strings, new bow and rosin. He is even happier now. Although he was a bit unsure of the quality at first, he asked his teacher to play it who was impressed with it as a beginner instrument. It also proved to him that this violin can sound very good when played properly. So it gave him confidence in the violin being up to standard. He said to me he can’t blame the violin for his screeching and scraping. He has improved immensely since then.
Perfect for my 6-year-old son, and inexpensive enough that I don’t have a heart attack watching him wave it around every time he practices!

Simply the go to violin for beginners, outstanding sound and build quality.
For the price this is a nice starter violin. Good quality and good sound.

very very good choice for a beginner, i did have problems with using the rosin but that was down to me not knowing what to do, at first i did have problems with the strings and accidentally broke one (my bad) but once i had the strings replaced they seemed to pick up the bow a lot better than the previous ones it comes with, other than that, sounds amazing

An upgrade from my stentor 1. Nice violin for the price.
It is so suitable for a beginner, recommended by a music Master. It is the bes
I’ve been wanting to learn to play the violin for quite some time so my partner bought me this instrument for my birthday. Have been having lessons for a few weeks and my tutor has confirmed it is a good quality instrument which is producing a nice sound. Has all the kit you need for starting out, with the exception of a shoulder rest which I would strongly recommend getting, and the case is also excellent quality for the price. Very pleased with this and would recommend it to anyone who is learning to play; you won’t be disappointed.
Got it , played it and is unusually good for an English instrume

Very happy with this violin, was recommended by Alison the you tube violin tutor. Strings that came with it were worse than expected so had to change them. With the new strings I am very happy with the sound!

Very beautiful instrument! Nice case with bow and Rosin. Good work with wood, light weight with beautiful sound.
Brilliant!!!! I love my new violin. As described. Perfect size for me. Fast delivery.
I bought it because my teacher suggested me and now I’m really happy to have it.
My daughter loves it. Been using from long time and no problems at all.
I played violin for 8 years as a kid recently decided to buy one to play on the weekends. This violin has a nice sound, it comes with a beautiful case and is already strung, compared to my student violin, this is a very good value for money

Lovely quality violin, holds tuning well and microadjusters on every string makes it easy to tune even though it is so small!
The bow is good too, those that has commented it is poor, I wonder did they use enough rosin? It did take a while for me to cover the hair sufficiently on first play for it to have enough grip to make a decent sound – new strings and squeaky clean hair isn’t a good combination, you need to use a lot of rosin and play a bit to get things going, my four year old hasn’t had any trouble since I did this and since then we haven’t had to use anything other than a usual amount of rosin now and then.

Very good quality product and daughter is enjoy playing. Quality of sound is very good and no feel of screeching. I recommend this product for the Beginners.
Well built and a nice sound, I couldn’t really expect or want more for my 1st violin, especially at this price.
It’s a good violin, but the bow is a little cheap.
violin arrived well packaged and all set up ready to play pretty much. I probably need to tune it slightly though but extremely pleased with the quality of the violin. Came in a lovely case and rosin was included with a bow in great condition.

Great product, very nice wood, and quality. Beware product is Made in China to English order, so you cant be sure on workers rights and environmental standards

Lovely starter instrument just bought it for my daughter who has grown out of her little one. However I would advise you spend money on some good strings as it makes a huge difference to the sound.

at about 11 years old, your child will need a full sized violin and this is a low cost way to achieve this and will be suitable to grade 6. A well made item and we are all very pleased with i

Arrived promptly. Nice beginners violin. Good sound and appearance. Granddaughter loved it.
Great violin for a student. The sound is amazing and worth the money. definitely recommend it.
It is a beautiful instrument with a very good tone.
My girl is getting on really well with this. Stylish, well made and keeps it’s tuning well. Only neg is that it was supposed to turn up all set up and it was far from that. But the instrument itself. Fine.

This is my first ever violin and i have to say i am so happy with mine, It came all set up in a really nice padded case and the bow is really nice and not too heavy, I brought a shoulder rest separately as this does not come with one, and some more better quality Rosin but this is a very nice Violin which plays lovely and although i am not good at playing it does sound nice when i practice my scales, There are fine tuners too on every string so no need to tune it from the pegs as this can brake the strings with any violin, It looks and feels great quality, I would recommend any one to get this violin, i really do not think you would regret it.

This is my first violin and I absolutely love it. Great quality and it arrived the next day all tuned in.
Thank you for sending to me this product in a short time. I was really surprised. Because I was expecting to get this in 15 days. I got it only a day after. I love playing this! Thank you very much
I didn’t buy this from here, bought it at my local music store about 10 years back. It’s brilliant. I’m looking back now since I’ve upgraded to ~1.2k violin and ~200 pounds bow. The sound between the two violins is obvious but this violin carried me throughout my youth. Perfect for beginners. Doesn’t lack in any major qualities. The sound it produces is spectacular for the price, and perfect for beginners to progress through.
