As far as routers go, this was easy enough to set up. The web interface isn’t the best, but it’s perfectly serviceable and I found all the settings I wanted to adjust easy enough.
I’ve good 4G signal where I live and this had no problems with picking that up.
It only offers 2.4GHz wi-fi, but that’s no real issue for most use cases, especially as far as speed is concerned, but I do like the stability of 5GHz.
If this is for short term use or holiday use etc. it will do a good job, if it’s a more permanent solution in a house with multiple people, you might be better looking for a more feature rich solution.
My Mum doesn’t have the Internet so when this came up I thought I’d give it a try with a PAYG sim card. Once I’d got the sim card and put credit it on it and decided on a rocket pack deal I popped the dim card into the router and connected to my kitchen TV to test. WiFi kept buffering so I tried my tablet connecting via WiFi to the router and that kept buffering (both times I was trying to watch Netflix). Next I hard wired the router to my kitchen tv and Netflix streamed beautifully.
So off to Mums I went. Set it all up but her living room tv despite being a smart tv must have an old network card inside which wasn’t strong enough to connect to the router. So upstairs we went and connected to a BT recordable box and Netflix streamed great. Mum then decided she was enjoying Netflix but wanted to watch it in the living room rather than her bedroom so she bought a new smart tv. This router was hard wired to the TV and once logged in to Netflix it was good to go. As my Netflix account is a 4k 4 profile account she got a 4k TV. The router gave a 4k viewing, in fact the picture is as good as on my 4k TV with fibre broadband. There’s no buffering during watching.
When using WiFi for browsing on a tablet its fine, not as fast as fibre broadband WiFi but adequate if I need to take my tablet round to Mums. I’ve worked out that to watch Netflix for about an hour 1GB of data is used. I put a rocket pack of 25GB of data on the sim card which should do Mum nicely until the top up date.
This router is perfect if you’re experiencing broadband issues or if you too have a parent who doesn’t want to commit to a broadband contract and won’t be streaming a huge amount of hours a day. I’ll be honest I didn’t expthis to work as it does but I’m pleasantly surprised and so is Mum. She can now watch current period dramas and is very grateful for the router.
Im extremely happy to recommend. The set up is simple in fact the hardest part was figuring out how to put credit on a PAYG sim because I’ve always had contract pay monthly Sims. In the box you also get sim wallet holder things so if your sim is tiny you have a couple of holder options included. It really is literally a plug in and once connected go product.
My photo shows the router in working mode, once everything is lit up and you have at least 3 bars you’re good to go. On the left of the router is an off/off button to save power when not in use for long periods. It takes about 30-60 seconds to fully boot up.
This is perfect for my small business, with 2 pc’s, 2 laptops and multiple mobile phones running off this it is perfect and a great price too.
Very easy set up, you do need to supply your own sim card, very compact and being white it really doesn’t stand out or look out of place.
This router fits perfectly for canal boat or any camper. It has been made with portability in mind despite no having rechargeable battery build in which is a bit downside. Router is equipped with 2 antennas for better reception and range. This router requires constant connection to power in order to work and paid sim with data package.
I have to admit, i was struggling to install sim card in it. Wasn’t sure if it should go with some adapter, or without. They are providing you with some adapters but wasn’t sure what for since big ones doesn’t fit in sim slot anyway. That’s probably decide to use card from router back in phone. Connecting to wifi was super easy, just scanned QR code on back and automatically connects without need of typing password. When you log into your router settings you have basic information about network and that is pretty much all you can do, no more settings available.
This router supports only 2.4Ghz network which is enough for what is going to be used for. For some reason it didn’t accept my card, pretty sure I installed it wrong like I mentioned before. Good kit for mobile home.
I’m not gonna lie, I got this thinking it was a router that did both WiFi and LTE, as in, I thought it could replace our ISP router. But it’s not, it’s 4G only, although conveniently it’s perfect timing for us as our internet is dropping out frequently at the moment.
We have used it a couple of times now to tide us over during some turbulent internet, and it has come in handy. It’s obviously not as fast as our broadband (I got 8mbps download with this compared to our 65mbps fibre) but it is enough to keep you going. I wouldn’t nail Netflix with it for my data’s sake, but for normal internet use, it’s great!
Pros:
* Lightweight and slimline
* Easy to set-up: just screw in the antennae and pop your simcard in
* Provides adapters for micro and nano sim cards
* Has 4 ethernet ports and a USB port
Cons:
* The sim card slot was difficult to open
Look, feel and the brand
———-
When this arrived, I was instantly excited. It looks really fancy, is packaged well and even though I’ve never heard of the company, it has nice techy branding.
It is made of plastic, is really light to pick up, but doesn’t feel cheap at all and has a really nice, subtly shiny patterned front. It’s well-designed in the placement of the ports and antennae. It’s also very compact and doesn’t take up much space, and has a stable base too.
I looked “Strong” up as a company, and they are a Skyworth company that seem to cover a lot of Europe but originated in Japan in 1868 (apparently). They seem to know their stuff anyway and I trust their statements.
Simple set-up
———-
The router comes with some easy-to-follow instructions, a pack of sim card adapters (for your standard sizes like micro and nano), the router itself and two screw-in antennae that you reveal the screws for by pulling off a plastic cover on the back.
The antennae bend on a hinge and can be twisted around for better signal (as you’d expect). Once you put them in, you just plug in the provided power adapter (which has a nice long wire) and it also comes with an ethernet cable too.
The sim card cover I found very difficult to open! It’s a slide-out bit of plastic that I ended up having to put my nail in the little gap to get it out, as I couldn’t push it out with my thumbs on the ridged bit of plastic. But, once I got the knack of it, I can now get it open and closed easily.
Inside, it’s super-simple just to slide your sim card in (connectors facing down, obviously). My card, in the nano sim card slot, slotted in fine with no issue and wasn’t fiddly at all, but then I’m used to phones/gadgets.
Performance and speed
———-
Once switched on, the router is ready. All the user details and passwords you need are as expected on the back, and you can log into the router to change settings ( including the WiFi password). I won’t go into the settings much as I’m using this plug-and-play basically and am not knowledgable enough to give much information on it, but for a normal user it’s easy to access and update using your browser.
For my Vodafone 4G sim card, I managed to get 8mbps on my mobile phone using the router, although it honestly felt much faster. My laptop over ethernet managed just over 13mbps. The connection didn’t drop out at all at any point and little black screen is handy as it shows you how much signal the sim card has too (I only have 3 bars too so I think those speeds are pretty good considering!).
It was definitely a reliable and useful thing to have especially as, even though our internet is really fast, it just keeps sporadically dropping out so this was much better and kept a consistent connection and meant I could carry on working for the day, and the speed honestly wasn’t terrible. It may well have been better with a stronger signal sim, but it was enough to keep me going on a standard day of work.
Overall, I’d recommend this as a solution for unreliable broadband or as an on-the-go 4G router for camping, which I think we will use it for. Even though you can just use our mobile phones as a hotspot, something like this is much better and comes with the additional convenience of ethernet cables too and can connect many more devices without draining your phone battery too. Plus you can just get a dedicated data sim to use in it.
Honestly a great device so far and straightforward too. Just remember, it isn’t a router replacement! And it’s not 5G.. but to be honest, we don’t even have it where we live yet, so I’m not complaining. Very pleased with it.
I’ve been unable to try this unit personally as I live in an area where the 4g signal is poor. My mobile frequently shows 3G even though the 4g site checker states there’s a good signal here.
I’ve given it to a user who lives in an area with a better signal and I understand it was easy to set up and they’re happy with the performance. Based on the positive but limited feedback, I’ll give it 5 stars.
I am really impressed by the functionality and performance of this router.
Currently using it with a Three Mobile Broadband sim, works really well – excellent speed and WiFi range – plus and play functionality, no additional hardware of software required.
Set up was easy and straightforward – devices connected quickly to the router with ease, there is also space for a WLAN cable – which personally, I noticed gave better speeds than connecting wirelessly.
2.4GHz wireless type – suitable for most devices, wide compatibility.
Highly recommend this; ideal for a caravan or holiday home – I would definitely consider this brand again!
To test this router I put the sim card from my phone in and switched it on. Within a few seconds the lights indicated that there was a 4G connection so I connected to it from my tablet, laptop and Chromebook.
I found that the 4G connection was stable and as fast as using the tethering from my phone. WiFi performance was almost as good as my home broadband router, and with a bit of careful placing I got signal all over my house.
So overall I am impressed with this unit. It was very simple to set up and seemed to perform as expected. I will be using this as a backup at home and taking it out in our caravan for some mobile WiFi.
This sim router works perfectly, we tried it out comparing it directly to our existing sim router and it compares better with signal strength. We live in a rural area and so you need to move around the find the best signal spot, once we did that we can watch tv with no problems, steam videos on phones, use multiple devices and of course do all the mundain work stuff. For the price this is a good bit of kit, possibly a good money saving device too instead of mainstream internet. For us it allows us to take our internet on holiday in the UK, yes we could hot spot a phone but sometimes that requires leaving the phone in a window to get a good signal, that means it’s difficult to use the phone, with this router it’s just the same as being at home (providing there’s a good signal where you are going).
This 4g LTE router performs very well. It had been some tin=me since I used a 4g set up and the last hardware we had was no where near as easy to set up and it didn’t have such a good signal. This Works with any network and any size sim card, it even includes adapters so you can use micro or nano cards.(use the smallest of the 3 included adapters). We live pretty rural, so we do have quite a flaky connection at times, we use an android box for most of our viewing and on occasion I have had to connect to my phone to finish watching a film, not handy as I need to leave my phone in the windowsill for the duration.
This is super easy to set up, you can even rename the network to the same as your old one to save having to reset up any smart bulbs and doorbells etc. Speed is at the maximum we can achieve using mobile internet here which at 14mb isn’t bad at all, upload speed is slightly faster. If you live in a town you will get a much faster connection, we are that rural we don’t even have gas. Where it will really come in handy is when we go on holiday, we always rent the same cottage that shares its connection between the big house, we can only use it in one room, the 4g router will mean we can access it anywhere. We are converting our van into a camper so we can go away in that as well, we will be able to take Alexa
We have tried watching films, listening to music, downloading and browsing, all flawless. I like this very much.
Well, Im very satisfied with this router.
Works good for me. Excellent speed and super wifi range.
Easy to set it up and connect it.
Good price is well.
Recommending.
The router is compact, simply insert a sim card and provided you have a strong 4g signal you have an internet connection.
This isn’t going to be the fastest solution, but depending on what is available it may be the best solution – or a backup option if your wired connection is compromised.
After years of having incredibly slow broadband and an almost non existent mobile telephone signal, we have moved to a new home with reasonable broadband speed and a more than adequate 4g signal. I ordered this unit for our garden summer house, where despite WiFi extenders, we don’t receive a robust signal. We do however have electrical power and having used my mobile telephone there as a hotspot I knew that this item would work.
Set up was simple, it was just a matter of connecting the power supply, attaching the two antennae and inserting the SIM card from one of our phones. It was good that the manufacturer included a set of SIM adapters, thus permitting SIMS of all sizes to be used. Price is competitive.
Testing the system we used Vodafone, Tesco (O2) and EE sims. We received a strong WiFi signal for use on iPad/phone and a Dell laptop. Performance was ok, but nowhere near as good as wired broadband. I was not surprised at the drop in speed, but I can state that the speeds were far better than those achieved using an iPhone and Samsung phones as hotspots.
Overall then a well made device, easy to set up and use and which if you do not wish to use WiFi there is also the option to connect a suitable device using an RJ45 cable.
So a 5 star rating? Yes and barely 5, I hovered over 4 stars. This modem works and returns reasonable speeds and certainly enough for basic office functions. It is compact and discrete. What I didn’t like is that I have never heard of the manufacturer “Strong” before and with the expansion of 5G, it is looking like this item may be obsolete fairly soon.
Bought this because our Vodafone bill is going up to nearly 40 per month!
Decided to try a different way, so bought this and a 10GB sim from Tesco mobile. Brilliant! Works as good as the Vodafone one. Now to buy an unlimited sim for 17.50 a month (24 month contract but less than half the price!)
This is a nicely designed router that could easily have been from one of the main router manufacturers. It’s compact: the body is 185mm wide x 175mm high. The two removable 4G antennas add about 107mm to the height when screwed into the terminals at the rear: there are two internal 4G antennas. Also at the rear are 4 x 10/100 RJ45 ports: 3 LAN and 1 W/LAN. On the left edge there is an on/off switch, with the right edge housing WPS and WLAN buttons, and between them a reset aperture. Within the box are an unmarked RJ45 Ethernet cable, a PSU, SIM card adapters and, a pictorial instruction sheet that for once is understandable.
It wasn’t clear to me that the contacts for the SIM card are spring loaded, so the SIM card slides under a thin metal bridge. Once that was in place, it worked without a problem.
I tested the router receiving a 4G signal with a LAN connection to a laptop. Then as a WiFi 2.4GHz transmitter to the laptop, followed by an old Android tablet. I would be happy to use the router as a fall back if the broadband landline went down, so I’ve uprated the review from four stars to five.
This router isn’t going to compete with a full-fledged fibre connection but it’s really useful to have if you get a great 4g signal and are yet to be hooked up to a fibre service.
My MIL isn’t very tech-savvy but spends a good amount of time online, however, she can only get standard ADSL in her little seaside town and it’s painfully slow. After testing mobile hotspots we found that the speeds were far better than her home broadband.
I had a clunky old 4G router that I installed and tested and the results were definitely noticeable.
This router has now permanently replaced my loaner and she couldn’t be happier.
Something like this router would be a great solution for those that use a camper van, static caravan etc that don’t always have the luxury of a hardwire connection but have a decent enough mobile signal.
I’ve been very impressed by the range of this router. This 4G LTE WiFi router by Strong is feature packed, easy to use and setup and completely unlocked, ready to use with any network.
Working from home is now much more of the norm but having a strong, reliable internet connection has now become vital to those that do work from home. Although a 4G connection is likely to meet the needs as a replacement internet over the traditional fibre setup, it will work as a great back up line for those that need to be always online during the working day.
It’s very simple to set up, with a SIM card drawer that’s very easy to get to via the back. It can fit micro/nano/standard SIM cards and has a couple of detachable antennas to fit where it needs to and get the best signal possible.
The router is limited to a 4G max connection and a wireless band of 2.4GHz — so your home broadband router will likely out spec this one easily and will become outdated once 5G is rolled out more over the UK. This will not deliver a full internet solution for the modern home as the speeds will be too limited to deliver full streaming, gaming, voip etc etc services that a modern home utilises.
That said, it IS a great backup solution. I very, very rarely get told in advance of any work that’s being done for internet maintenance work, so when the internet goes down it does go down unexpectedly. If that’s in the middle of a working day, it will be a big problem — so having something that be up and running in minutes that will deliver enough to get me through the rest of the day before the normal internet’s restored is absolutely ideal.
This Strong 4G LTE router will deliver a good backup internet solution to your home.
Arrived on time, set up very easy. Doesn’t appear to work when roaming.
I have a French SIM card which works in the UK when using a phone hotspot or with a mobile mifi unit.
Waiting for clarification from seller that it will work in France with a French SIM.
Update: works fine in France. You need to set up a second profile by logging into the router admin. Easy to do. Very good product. Signal is stronger than using a portable mifi unit.

You receive a nicely presented router.
My house is an old Welsh cottage which has a lot of granite walls, wireless can be hit or miss at the back of the house.
I set the Router as a secure network, remember to print out the info at the end of the install as this has the security key you need for wireless.
The wireless is good, not as good as my Cisco router, but still excellent for the price.
A good router which has gives good 4g.

I bought to use him Europa, on wall plug in 220v and is working just fine.
