My first entry into the Tales of series and I spent about 50 hours of non stop story action game play in a massive world ! Great just great game a must buy too
I found the story to be a bit rushed, specially in the beginning. You go through different cities that have an interesting setting but they just don’t have the time to develop them well enough.
The main characters are the best part of this game, it may take some time for you to care about them, but if you watch the skits and talk to them in camp you will learn a lot about their own stories and motivations. The game takes its time to develop them, always showing some info here and there which I found engaging since I kept coming back to play it cause I wanted to know what would happen next.
Overall okeyish story but great characters.
If you don’t like/ don’t have patience for big cutscenes or story explanation then I don’t recommend this game.
I went into Tales of Arise with big expectations as I’ve been a fan of the series since I played Tales of Vesperia on my Xbox360. Tales of Arise (ToA) does everything that previous games do and does it just as well, if not better.
I particularly enjoyed watching the characters interact and see their relationships grow, platonic or romantic. The game gives a real sense that characters are from different regions and their cultures/ideas can sometimes clash. I won’t give any specific information but the story is based around how the characters evolve as people and as a party.
The combat is very clean and less repetitive than I thought. Being able to chain really long combos makes you feel like a bad ass. I love how in order to improve your artes (Special moves) you have to use them. The more you use an arte the stronger it becomes and levels up. Eventually you’ll unlock more powerful versions or different artes entirely.
Aside from the main story the game offers a decent amount of content. (Mostly post-story) There are plenty of side quests, special strong enemies, dungeons and even an arena to practice fighting with each character.
One of the only down sides I can think of is that sometimes the story isn’t paced very well. Parts of the story felt rushed and others felt like they dragged on.
Regardless it’s my favourite JRPG of 2021 and I’d recommend it to anyone who likes the genre.
I’m a long time fan of the Tales of series and this was honestly brilliant! I’d even go so far as to say this is my favourite next to Symphonia! The storyline itself is great, the battle system is great and the visuals etc are great! There’s still too much dialogue though but it’s not as bad as other Tales of games. I’d definitely give this one a go!
The best Playstation 5 game of this Christmas 2021!!
Fill out all the Namco Bandai form to publish other titles in the Tales of series on Nintendo Switch.
This game is great, a masterpiece, wonderful graphics on all platforms both Playstation and Xbox.
Don’t risk your life going to the pub stay at home playing safely. COVID-19 Omicron variant is spreading throughout Europe. Wait comfortably on the couch for 2022!!!
I’ve been off gaming for a year or so, even buying a ps5 didn’t get me picking up my controller regularly. But this game has managed what no game has, and it’s a great return to classic Tales.
The only thing I didn’t like is that the description of the horses you can raise make it appear like they’d be guards. This ain’t the case.
This is a really great game and has gotten me into the Tales of Series. Excellent story, great combat and some really epic moments. Also, my pre-order bonus arrived by email a few days later.
I’ve been a Tales fan since Symphonia, but a few recent entries have left me cold. This is a return to form. The graphical overhaul is welcome and the game looks beautiful, but what it does really well is everything a JRPG has to: Involving and accessible combat, characters you care about, a timeless story, plenty of fun sub-quests, and all the usual Tales quirks like skits and cooking which help the series stand out. I’m not yet halfway through and it’s fabulous. If you’re like me and you’ve been a bit detached from the series recently after loving it for so long, give Arise your time and money. I don’t think you’ll regret it.
An excellent game overall. The second best jRPG after DQXI in recent years for me. A couple of minor flaws in my opinion would be the pop in of objects, which hopefully will get patched and the music, which is just fine, but nothing spectacular. The rest is an absolute 1st class jRPG content. Buy it, buy it now!
Delivery was quick and efficient and the game is the best tales of game so far, brilliant combat amazing graphical style. Worth a buy if you’re a hardcore fan or new to the series
With Persona 5 Strikers, FF Intergrade and Nier Replicant in the first half of 2021, followed by Scarlet Nexus 2021 has been fun for JRPG’s but this…
I am simply impressed and so happy to see and play this, basically a masterpiece and potentially a must;
Stunning graphics, story, writing and very solid, fluent and fun gameplay in my opinion;
I think the new gen consoles open so many opportunities and seeing it fly at 60fps and still being incredibly vibrant and stunning is so enjoyable;
Really enjoyed the balance between characters, and the English VA isn’t bad either even tho I stuck to the JP.
I think if you’re a ps5 player and want a fun journey, anime feelings, human feelings and simply having a good time this game is for you.
Game is absolutely stunning and also has great and simple mechanics. Pre order bonus has arrived to my email after 3 days so make sure to check spam etc.
Highly recommended for rpg fans!
This jrpg is the best in last 5 years not only Tales of but genarally jrpg with beatifull graphics amazing story and well written characters.Never enjoyed any jrpg like this one highlly reccomend to any jrps fan its just musthave game!!
For anybody worried they sent out the preorder bonus as of today.
The game is fantastic so far, 10 hours or so in but would absolutely recommend to fans of the franchise and fans of jrpgs alike. Really beautiful game too.
Loving this game, a few changes to the normal Tales of games but for the better! Simplified combat and very enjoyable. Would be 5stars but I didn’t recieve my preorder bonus! Very sad! 🙁
Honestly expected for it to come with the preorder bonus as that picture is included and this comes from the bandi store through amazon but nope. If you want the extras order elsewhere.
An update that Bandai store helped me obtain my pre order bonuses. I’ve played through the whole game and haven’t felt this kind of joy playing games for a while now. Playing the postgame is 10/10 and honestly a few months down the line I might play it for a second time it’s just that great imo.
