Got this for my other half’s birthday pressie, the price on Amazon was amazing – we saw it double the price elsewhere exactly the same model!
We have cooked a variety of foods and all have turned out perfect.
To be honest we have had a deep fat fryer before only mini ones which gave off a huge amount of condensation so I was dreading this thinking it would be even worse.
No need to worry, hardly any condensation/steam at all – so chuffed.
Easy to operate, good instruction book.
It does take up quite a bit of counter space though.
    Highly recommend.

Not easy to clean per se, but for a deep fat fryer it’s really easy.

Ensure the oil had cooled when you drain it (it’ll be a higher volume when warm/hot) and being able to filter and reuse the oil is fantastic.

I got the larger model, and it’d recommend it even for 2 people as you struggle to cook two pieces of fish and two small portions of chips for two in the bigger one, though you can offset the cooking times and deliver a nice meal.
Making chips/fries for four I made in two batches, I could have possibly got four potions in but I didn’t want to lower the temperature too much as when double cooking I want to get a good crispy outside.

I’d have preferred a larger fryer but as I don’t fry often the oil storage is worth the slightly smaller frying capacity. If storing with oil then ensure it’s kept upright.

If you fancy something different to cook in a deep fryer, look for recipes for bitterballen 🙂

What is the biggest bugbear with Deep Fat Fryers?
Surely, it’s the little bits of food that end up clinging to the basket or the sides and bottom of the Oil Tank, which over time burn and contaminate the oil, thus reducing its quality.
Tefal have produced a Brilliant solution to this problem which actually works well!
You simply wait a few hours for the oil to cool and flick a lever, which drains the oil (via a built-in filter) into a separate storage tank.
You can then wipe the left-over bits out of the oil tank, wash the basket, tank and lid (in the dishwasher if you like), dry them all and when you need to use the Fryer again, you simply tip the clean oil back into the tank.
It is a simple, quick process and the oil lasts so much longer.
To date, I am REALLY impressed with this Fryer.
Just one word of warning but it is an important one……..
This is the ‘Compact’ version, which is fine for 2 normal portions, maybe 3 at a squeeze.
If you need more portions or have any doubts, go for the larger version.
    Highly Recommended!

Awesome device cleaning system is very good, 2 things would make this better, firstly the inner main tin unit that can be removed for cleaning needs to be a 1 way fit, twice I’ve cleaned it and both times I’ve put the tin back in the wrong way round, why does this matter ? Because the basket hook is only on one side of the tin so now you have to drain the oil and remove the tin and rotate it so the basket hook is at the correct end, yes I’m a dummies for placing it in the wrong way round but it wouldn’t take much to either place a hook at both ends or make it not fit so you can only place it the correct end.
    2. There is a minimum maximum level at maximum level it doesn’t seem like there’s enough oil in the unit so I added some more this didn’t hamper the operation of the fryer in any way however, now when I choose to drain the oil the box to collect the oil isn’t big enough major spillage again my own fault, you live and learn, but this said this is the best fryer I have ever used you will not be disappointed buy this item.

I’m really impressed with this. The oil drain is an excellent idea and it filters so the oil will last much longer. I’d say this is the best on the market right now

The design of this fryer is excellent and a well-thought out addition to any kitchen. Easy to operate, easy to use and especially to clean. I’ve checked it out on a number of difficult recipes which tend to mess up my oil, and am impressed by the filtration and store system – it works, and works well and will be much more economical for me.
One aspect to watch is not to overfill – the only indicator is a “MAX” line level and depends on the operator. If one were to be over-generous with a large oil container, it can be easily overfilled to an extent where the bottom oil storage is unable to contain it… with predictable results. Another little annoyance is the LCD timer. In my kitchen I am unable to see the display (too small and no backlight) rendering it almost useless. It does work! I never use it anyway.
All in all – a great purchase, and one I would have no hesitation in recommending. The results are excellent and repeatable.

Goy to admit, I have an actifry so thought why would I really but a deep fryer, so glad I did. I convinced my self being a lover of all things Tefal its bound to have a plus and it has a few. The fact it actually filters the oil is fantastic, if your making a homemade crispy batter for a nice piece of fish then you usually end up with a bitty fryer, no! This beauty has a 3 lock system, one to fry, one to drain and then switch to last one to release the draw. You can filter the oil several times, the oil filters to the drawer and the bits stay in the basket simple. A new way to do onion rings, doughnuts, fish or more. Highly recommend. Quality food produced and easily cleaned and well made.

I’ve eaten far too many fries since buying this. The oil box draining system takes much of the pain out of the frying cleanup. The basket is shallower than other conventional desktop fryers but it’s also much wider which gives you more versatility for frying larger things. Appears to heat up reasonably quickly. Don’t buy if you value your waist line.

Not had a deep fat fryer before but occasionally like to make tempura and fry doughnuts. This model caught my eye because of its ability to drain and store the oil after frying. Seems such a simple idea it’s a surprise there aren’t more but I was pleasantly surprised how easy it’s was just to set it to drain after finishing- it senses when the oil is cool enough and then drains it into a reservoir underneath the fryer. Everything then except the heating element can go into the dishwasher for cleaning and it is easy to wipe the element clean. It is then ready for use again when the oil can simply be poured from the reservoir back into the fryer.

It takes about 5-10 mins to get up to temperature which is set with a simple dial and then the food to be fried is placed into the basket and lowered into the fryer . The lid on top prevents oil splashes and has a window to see how it is cooking. Tempura was a bit messy but chips and doughnuts work really well.

In short, I think this is a well designed fryer that cooks well, and is easy to clean afterwards .

I really like the fryer, there are no lower temperatures on the heat dial so if you want to double fry chips with an initial 110/120 deg C then you have to guess.
The filter is a great idea, you just wait until the oil is cold, flick the leaver and the oil filters into the container underneath. You can then wash out the dregs and you’re good to go again. Our oil has retained it’s cooler and smoking point far longer than our old fryer.

However, as the filter container is under the fryer it means it stands at c.40cm tall and doesn’t fit into any of our cupboards without moving the shelves and leaving us with less cupboard storage space.

I already made pretty good chips, but hated having to clean up the fryer afterwards. This machine is the bees knees and I wish I had bought it sooner.

UPDATE: I have now had this fryer almost five months. I am irritated that there is no cord storage, making it cumbersome to wash the heating element. Luckily I have a sink with a bowl insert, so I can hook the element over the lip of the bowl. I am disappointed that it doesn’t drain the oil completely, and the tank is too large for my dishwasher, so washing it up is a dockyard job – anyone living near a Naval base will know that expression. Pretty good idea, lacking a little in the execution IMHO.

This is by far the best fryer we have owned, it is large but for a reason. For example, You can actually fit enough chips in for a family of 4 instead of smaller fryers and cooking twice, the simple idea of the filter system is really easy leaving the oil clean and once drain into the tank makes easy cleaning of the top tank

Having had this fryer now for six months with almost one use per week, I can safely say that this is an excellent fryer, producing really lovely chips on a consistent basis. Better still, it is extremely easy to take apart for cleaning. I see some people complaining about spillages but if they followed the instructions and did not overfill then I am sure that, like me, they wouldn’t have any such problems. Would I recommend? Without any doubt I would and in fact already have to a couple of friends and family members.

on the down side the oil storage is a cassette under the fryer so that makes it taller than other fryers but that is all I can say negatively .

2l of oil provides a reasonable depth for cooking – removing the basket to put battered items in helps prevent sticking. when you are finished just turn the control to empty and once the oil cools down it drains through a filter into the storage cassette. Simply pour back into the fryer when you next use it.

Remove oil cassette and store in a cool place and everything else goes in the dish washer apart from the element.

Its a clean way to fry and keeps the oil from getting dirty and burning but use liquid oil only .

Basic temperature control but that works fine (there is a larger one with LCD display and 3l capacity but for our small family this is big enough.

I don’t know how I lived without this little diamond. My old fryer was archaic compared to this. Love how it drains the oil into a built in storage container so you can clean the bowl. Bowl, basket and lid are all dishwasher safe so that’s a big plus. LOVE this fryer…..worth every penny.

Over the years I have had numerous makes and models of deep fat fryers. The main issue has always been the cleaning afterwards. With the Tefal Oleoclean Pro FR804040 this has now been eliminated. After allowing the oil to cool down, it in now just a ,matter of flipping a leaver and allowing the oil to filter into the container for future use. Cleaning the main container now takes just a few minutes of light cleaning instead of the usual 45min plus. With the oil filtered, it now lasts longer, looks cleaner and does not emit the black smoke of the older fryer. Very impressed.

An excellent fryer for a single person or small family. What I do like is that it all comes apart for easy cleaning unlike most other fryers I had looked at.One down point is that there can be can be a small oil leak/spillage when filtering the oil into the holding tank but overall I am very pleased with my purchase!!

My last fryer was coming to the end of its life and I was looking at the oleoclean for some time but always held off due to the price. When amazon reduced it to 82 I took the plunge.
It’s a great fryer but also quite large which may not be ideal if you have limited tabletop space. Having said that it is fairly light and the oil does store in a container within the main body so it cam be placed in a cupboard and taken out when needed.
It gets to temperature fairly quickly and has a wide shallow basket for even cooking.
When you’re done just flip the switch and the oil will automatically drain into the lower container when it reaches a certain temperature.
When you go to use it next time just wipe the inside with a bit of kitchen roll to scoop up the sediments left behind after the oil was drained. Then just switch the switch pull out the oil container and pour into the fryer. Its quick, clean and easy.
    A great frye

I haven’t had a deep fat fryer for years as I absolutely hated cleaning them no matter what instructions said I could never get fat out of some nooks and crannies, however, after seeing this fryer advertised I thought about buying it for months before finally taking the plunge and oh boy am I glad I did!! Everything cooks beautifully and cleaning is a doddle, I just love how the oil filters making it fresh for each use and makes the oil last longer in my opinion. I can definitely recommend it as I am delighted with it.

I bought this for the Easy clean aspect. Ive also plans to get a dishwasher and this can all go in it, except for the heating element, which is fab!

First time cooking with it and I cooked Scnitzel and chips. The chips i boiled for 10 mins, left to cool, fried on 160c for 5 mins and left to cool whilst Scnitzels cooked, then 190c for 4 mins to give some “oomph”. This was also my first time cooking them this way.

It gets 5/5 for cooking ability but 4/5 for oil drainage. 95% of the oil drains out, but some (around 15ml) gets left behind. It is a bit too much to simply wipe it away with some kitchen roll. Thankfully i still had the oil bottles and popped it in there, rather than have it go down the drain.

    Simple, effective

Love this fryer however there is one thing I didn’t. If you don’t filter the oil after every use you cannot fold the chip basket up as it makes contact with the oil. By not being able to fold the basket when not in use it adds quite a bit to the length for storage.

I know one of the selling points is you always have clean oil, however used the fryer for the first time to fry some frozen fries and afterwards the oil was still immaculately clean so didn’t bother filtering hence couldn’t drop the basket to reduce the size.

Don’t get me wrong I would by this again but thought it handy for people to know if space is an issue as it is a big fryer anyway.

Chips were perfect and has a timer on the fryer which I didn’t realise which is a plus for this also.

Have used this half a dozen times so far and very pleased with it. I was originally looking for a fryer with larger capacity but in the end I bought this in favour of its oil filtering feature and the fact that pretty much everything can go in the dishwasher. As yet I haven’t been disappointed. Being able to filter any bits out of the oil after frying and store it in the compartment underneath whilst putting the other parts in the dishwasher is fantastic and I see no reason for this fryer to end up in a greasy, gungy mess like most of them do!

The provision of a hygienic, easy-to-use storage tank below into which the oil automatically drains as it cools after use in the fryer is a particularly convenient feature of this model. Compact for a small kitchen, simple to use and clean, this fryer produces wonderfully crisp and golden French fries, onion rings, Indian savouries etc. in no time at all. Wish we’d bought one years ago!

Excellent product.. fries food evenly. Could do with some extra safety features on oil filtration side. You should not be able to filter while hot. they do advise not to, but this can still happen by mistake or accidental. They should have a lock until cool. If you put filter box the wrong way in it leaks all over the bottom so they should have made it that you can only put it one way. Other than that.. top notch

I’ve fried tempura, chicken, and chips/fries with this and I couldn’t be happier with the product. Temperature tested with other thermometers and it’s accurate.
When it comes to the filter system, at this time I have only used it twice but I honestly couldn’t be happier with the system. I filter the oil, I take the basin out and clean it by hand with plenty of soap and put it through the dishwasher also.
I would say we are a family of two (Three but one’s a dog) and the basket is correctly sized for this. Obviously you would batch cook for larger family meals. I love how easy you can clean it down and then put it away in the cupboard. Easy Peasy.

A word of warning… Do not stand the plastic container upright with oil in it, the lid will fall off spilling oil everywhere. Luckily for me I was holding it over the sink so no great harm done. I was hoping to have containers of oil for different cooking needs eg oil for fish produce, another container for chips etc. After a number of weeks the unit still looks brand new.

I love the easy drain facility and the oil filter bottle, which makes it VERY EASY to clean. I would like to mention, due to a “surprise” accident, that the plastic oil bottle which catches the filtered oil for re-use has a capacity of 3 litres of oil, saving a lot of money in refills. The flat lid DOES come off for deep cleaning, if its required. It’s quite expensive for a deep fryer, but it’s worth every penny! The lid is very effective and it catches a lot of condensation, that MUST BE KEPT AWAY FROM THE OIL to preserve the food quality and prevent the oil from the explosive reactions commonly associated with the old pot chip-pans of yesteryear! The food, like fresh potato chips MUST be dry before cooking, we just use kitchen roll which absorbs most of the water. We have had a great time experimenting with our fryer, and hope others have as much fun as we have.

This is an excellent little fryer for doing chips however even for 2 people, if you were to use it to fry frozen fish or chicken, the pro version is a better choice.

If you are only using this to make fried chips for 1 or 2 people however it is perfectly fine and functionally identical to the Pro version.

The oleoclean functionality is great and means you can pack the fryer away in the box and put the oil in the fridge for next time.

After years of buying cheap fryers and trying in vain to keep them clean, this one is perfect.

If you use frozen chips with coatings, draining the oil and then cleaning out the components in the dishwasher is great. Much easier than older units that had to be drained and washed by hand.

I always had a tefal actifry but then it broke (healthy option) but no way was i going to spend over 250 again, think we all got fed up with the chips just tasted boring.
Decided to go with this after doing lots of research and glad i did. Having a large family of 9 i wanted a large fryer so i didnt have to do so many portions, with this i just need to do 2 uses to feed 9 of us. The basket is very large and holds much more than you think, it did take a bit of getting used to because it is quite tall (wouldn’t be any good for short people )
I love the fact that it filters the oil and just the crappie bits are left behind to throw away.
My husband does get angry with me though because i like to filter the oil/wash the lid/wash the basket/wash the container and wash the element, sounds a lot of messing around but it is really simple and it keeps the fryer looking like new.
The chips taste fantastic, onion rings cooked in this are amazing.
I was also lucky enough to buy this at a special price of 75 so was very very happy.

This is a replacement for a 20+yo Tefal Deep Fat Fryer. It works brilliantly and the Auto Oil drain is a dream. It leaves the bowl empty bar crumbs, which you can then easily remove. It’s just a bit fiddly lifting out the element first, like the old one, and then looking for somewhere to put it whilst you clean the bowl.
One benifit of the Auto-drain is that the Basket also drains off oil, so needs minimal cleaning.
My reason for 4* is only that the construction is noticeably more flimsy than my old one.
    Recommended without hesitation.

This has been a superb piece of mind versus open pan frying. Having the ability to accurately temperature control the oil has been great to know that it ‘wont get too hot’ and burn the oil as well as reducing the risk of a fire.

It’s also super clean to use. If you have a dishwasher, its even better as it is all dishwasher friendly (except the electrical element).

The important thing to note, that caught me out by surprise is the drain tray. When you are pouring it back in, make sure to support it and take your time. It turns out that the drain tray splits apart so you can clean inside of it. I found this out the hard way and drowned the kitchen in oil. Even then, its still worth it.

Highly recommended if you are looking to do your own batters or having a home made ‘fakeaway’.

We like the machine very much indeed. What problem we found was when ordering it we could not find the size of the machine, it gives you the package size but not the machine size, when ours arrived it was larger then we thought it would be, it would be a great help to have the machine size so customers can plan before hand where they are going to be able to store it in the kitchen.

This has turned out to be a very reliable and easy to use fryer. The huge bonus is the extremely easy to clean feature for filtering and draining the oil. The rest of the fryer washes up extremely easily. The element can be washed with care avoiding puting the electrical component into water. Everything else is super easy. While the lid has a fine grease filter which really helps greasy steam from going onto tiles etc., I suggest placing under the cooker extractor for best results and a slightly open window to reduce cooking smells. They are not overly noticable. Great capacity, easy use basket with a drip bracket to hold the basket up. The lid is great to help deflect heat from the hot oil. The little window in the lid is a great help too.

As a whole, this is a good fryer. However some small design faults stop it having 5 stars. The timer display is not back-lit so is difficult to see.
The temperature and timer controls are situated behind the steam vent which gets very hot and can burn you if you need to adjust anything, either during warm up or during cooking. Other than that, generally very good and the oil filter tray is a good idea. But beware, the top of the tray is not fixed and can come loose when emptying.

I’ve never used a deep fat fryer before and I’ve found this easy to use and to clean. The only issue is that it sometimes leaks a bit when draining the oil despite the fact that the oil is cool and the fryer is level. I think it might leak when there isn’t much debris in the oil, so it flows out at a faster rate.

It works really well. It’s a little bigger than I expected as in overall size but the coverage and depth for frying is quite shallow which surprised me a little. You have to put a lot of oil into it but only use half of it. You’re heating up twice as much oil as you use. It seems a very inefficient way of deep frying. I haven’t needed to clean the oil yet so can’t comment on how easy it is to clean.

This fryer has worked very well for me and I love the fact it is so easy to clean and the oil is filtered and stored in the container after each use. I saw on some reviews that people had reported leaks of oil whilst draining the oil into the storage reservoir. I have not had that problem but I do wait until the oil is cooled before opening the valve. The fryer is quite large and will take up a lot of room in a cupboard or on the worktop – measure first before buying.

I have not owned a deep fat fryer for nearly 17 years, So after a friend recommended this .So i bit the bullet and bought this model. With no regrets. perfect fried fish , buttermilk chicken , All came out perfect, now the bit i used to hate cleaning the dam things, well this little beauty is so easy , when the oil is cold flick the switch to filter and it will slowly filter, and crumbs left are easily removed with a bit of kitchen roll, the only bit you have to clean by hand is the element , the rest you can bung in the dish washer , Job done, yes it is pricey but well worth the extra expense.

Our old 3l fryer was past it’s best and didn’t really do a big enough batch of chips for the 6 of us in 1 go. When looking for a replacement we liked the look of this one. It has a wider but shallower basket, and an additional 500ml capacity, at 3.5l.
It comfortably cooks enough, and if you follow the temperature guides on the packaging of what you’re cooking, gives great results.
Never have had any trouble with oil leaking out when filtering, I fill it up to the max and top up as required, so it’s normally well over 3 litres of oil that’s being filtered.
Replacing the oil is easy as well, as you simply filter, clean then fill with new oil. Old oil is in the bottom and the
new bottles just used to fill can be used to dispose of the old oil easily.
Even the oil storage container in the bottom can be opened to be cleaned thoroughly.
My only concern at the time was the price, but now, after 4 weeks of use, I’d say its worth it.

By far the best deep fat fryer I have ever used. More expensive that many but well worth the extra.
Very simple to use. I did however after reading other earlier reviews prior to purchase had some reservations regarding the oil container top becoming dislodged after filtering the oil. These concerns have been found to be totally groundless. It may be the container has been modified in later versions but certainly I have no complaints or suggestions regarding possible improvements.

This is fantastic cooks like a dream and you don’t have to wait around for the oil to cool as it does all that for you and filters the oil as well. Then all you have to do is wash it out and put the clean oil back in the pan, most bits are dishwasher friendly. I don’t know how I managed with my old one would not be with out this.
Only down side I can see is it needs a better filter in the lid a carbon one would be great but thats i

I used to have a deep fat fryer years ago and decided on this one because of the easy clean facility and the brand. I’ve only used this once, not a great experience. Following their guidelines for temperature and heat settings my chips came out very dark brown not the lovely crispy golden ones I had envisaged. It takes 3 hours to cool enough to empty to clean and when removing the parts for washing I cut my finger on very sharp metal on the machine. My old machine had a method of raising the basket without removing the lid, not so with this one. All in all I wouldn’t recommend and it’s probably one of those buys that will sit in the cupboard for a few years before going to the charity shop.

I love the filtered cleaning of the oil fascility. It realy has made a difference to the flavour of the food and the oil usage last longer.
Cleaning is a doddle, but the only bug bear is you have to hand wash the lid, the element (obviously) and the insert.
Butit cleans so easily, it really is no problem.
I love it and it is large enough to cook chips for 6

This is our second Tefal – the first smaller one leaked and was sent back for refund. This one works a dream and is large enough to fry enough chips fo 3 people at once. Simple to use. My one word of waring is that the oil container comes apart (you can remove the lid) which I was unaware of. So when I poured the oil out of the container into the fryer the lid came off and 2L of oil went everywhere

I love this deep fat Fryer – I bought it to replace an old small fryer – it’s large enough to cook chips for the whole family in one go, the ability to drain the oil and filter out the bits of burnt food is brilliant. The fact you can painlessly dismantle and put in the dishwasher (But not the lid) makes it so easy to keep it properly clean, which makes it easier to store and stops it being smelly, the permanent filter is great too (no faffing about buying and changing The filter).

The big basket is great – I tend to use the fryer for home cooked chips more than anything else – and whilst my chips are always pretty good – they were pronounced to be amazing with this fryer!

The handles on the side are great for moving it because this is a sizeable piece of equipment – with the handles it is easy and feels very safe (also the oil is safely stored in the box so no danger if spilling)

I am very happy with my purchase 10/10.

This deep fat fryer is just a dream. I was missing chipS from the chip shop during lockdown so bought this deep fat fryer..what a dream this machine is…..simply great. Minimum temperature setting is 140…maximum 190, it heats up quickly, It has a light indicator….the capability of draining and filtering the oil is superb and allows for easy cleaning after each use. I can happily boast at producing delicious chips….( only once a week, for the sake of waist lines!)…and even produced some crisps last week….if you are looking for a good deep fat fryer I’d highly recommend this one.

If your thinking it’s a bit expensive, and is it worth it….yes yes yes! This is probably the best item I have purchased. After you finished your cooking flip the leaver over to drain and just leave it. When the oil is at the correct temperature it drains into the storage box. The element slides up allowing you to easily clean the tank, basket and lid. Leave the oil in the storage box keeps it clean and smells down. When you next want to use it slide out the box remove the screw plug and poor in the oil. The storage box can be washed clean easily as well. All round BRILLIANT

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis fryer is the best thing ever temperature controls easy enough to use compact but still has great frying space for good sized portions. I opted for this model due to the filtration system it’s the best feature and makes the fryer super easy to clean. A lot of reviews mention oil spilling onto the worktops. I did not have this issue as I read the instructions you need to filter the oil when it’s cool at least 2 hours or more after use as when oil is warm it expands in volume so don’t think the bad reviews are justified in my opinion.

I have used this fryer three times now and it has worked really well.
Thermostatic control ! Simple to use but only marked from 150 c, so you would need a confectionery thermometer to measure accurately if a lower temp was required. I have a good one and decided to check the marked setting and there was a little discrepancy. 150 c on the fryer when the light indicator goes out measured 142 c on my confectionery thermometer. and at 160 c mine showed 155 c 170 c was good as was 180 and 190.. Nothing to worry about and it could just be this particular unit.
As for the cooking, just slightly less than brilliant for my needs. and the function of self draining is superb. Just zero the thermostat unplug it switch it to drain and when cooled the oil is in the base container filtered and ready to go again.
Dismantling to clean is simple but care should be taken with the individual parts .
This is a good little unit for the price and worth a go if you fancy a controlled deep fat fryer !

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIt is a really nice looking frier
It’s really easy to use and has the temperatures instead of (high or low power)
It heats up very fast and cooks food perfectly with ease, the chips even look like the picture when cooked (butlers chips).
I haven’t tried the filter part yet but the rest works perfectly.
It really shows the worth in spending a little more money.
It can also be taken apart in seconds to clean, all of it is metal exept for the oil container, its really perfect quality.

Worth spending a little more! PERFECT

Money well spend, so far one of the finest electric kitchen cooking machine for deep frying ever designed. Oil filter process by gravity separation works perfect. 2300W of heating element for only 3.5 liter of oil is good match to keep with changing oil temperature as you add freezing processed foods (veg or non veg). It may appear huge on the counter as compared to others – for the reasons like it has onboard storage tank to recover filtered oil upon completion of cooking cycle – so, that makes it look almost twice bigger. But, its a trade-off against the benefits of oil filteration which second to none. I have two of these one for veg and one for non-veg cooking to not to spoil the oil and infuse the varying smell into cooking.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersLove this item. It is now essential in our kitchen. The main reason we love it so much, it’s because the large capacity, was able to 6 thighs/drum stick and still space for one or two. The ability to set the temperature and timer is fantastic. Once you learn the correct temperature and timer for different meals, it’s great. So it is essential to learn your product. The instruction in the booklet is a good indicator but we found it wasn’t as accurate. It states (commenting from memory), the chicken needed 16 minutes a set temperature (forgot). We set it and the chicken was dark brown. Over cooked. Same result with the chips. Once you figure out the best timer for it, it gives you great results. The cleaning is another great feature. Very simple and quick (compared to others). The cleaning was the main reason I went for it.

    Can’t live without one

Given the price commitment of this chip pan, I thought I would write a detailed review. I needed a chip pan that feeds 5 adults. It does just that. But I was also looking for one that doesn’t set off my smoke alarm, and it does just that!
So, what I like is its size; Its ability to cook a large quantity of chips, although it is then a large machine. My previous chip pan was a double one, so although this one is large it is tall rather than wide, which I like. Also, the handle folds inside, so I find it quite compact actually. It does have sharp edges like someone mentioned in a previous review, but if you use the handles on it, then you don’t come into contact with the sharp edges, except when dismantling to put in the dish washer.
I also like its cleanliness; you can put the parts in the dishwasher once you have drained the oil. I notice in previous reviews that people have said the tank for saving oil overflows, but I did not find that, although I only drain the oil after 4 -5 uses, so its not at the maximum. I also love that the handle for the tray slots inside the pan, not over the edge so no oil spills! You can also cook with the lid on, so it reduces splashes too.
What I don’t like is the fact that I bought it because I thought it had a filter, my old one doesn’t, and I thought that would stop my smoke alarm going off. The filter is actually a metal mesh, not really a filter. So, the alarm does go off, and it does make the house smell of chips, although not as much as my old one did, because at least you can put the lid on. So, despite this I still prefer it.
It does get hot on the outside, but not to the extend of a burn unless there was prolonged contact.
I’ve given 5 stars, but really I would give it 4.5!

I love the self-filtering on this fryer. Just flick a switch and leave it. It is so easy to clean. Everything goes in the dishwasher apart from the heating element module, which is easy to wash by hand. The handle on the basket folds up for easy storage, although not if there is still oil in the fryer. I store my oil in the blue filtration tub, so the fryer is clean and dry. I have had perfect results every time. The lid ensures no spitting, and the window gives a good view on the food being fried. It is somewhat large to store, but I wanted a large capacity fryer. It easily fries chips for all the family.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersExcellent product that makes filtering of oil and cleaning so easy without any mess. I put around 2.5 litre of oil in and there is still about 30% of spare capacity in the oil box after filtration, no leakage issue at all. The filtered oil is clear and clean. All food crumbs are left in the frying bowl, which is ready to be put into the dishwasher for cleaning. Absolutely no hassle.

    Excellent deep fryer, no mess!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat product. Makes it easy to store the used oil afterwards. Doesn’t leak. Also it can be washed in the dishwasher and this makes it easy to maintain. Only downside is the size. We are a family of 4 and so have to cook in batches. I probably should have gone for the bigger size but the one I have is fine overall otherwise it’s a lot more oil that is needed.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a brilliant deep fat fryer, It cooks home made chips so quickly and they’re crispy and delicious. I love the oil filtering system, It’s easy to use and then you can wash all the parts, ( Except the electrical part ) obviously. No more having to manually drain and filter the oil, No mess, Does not leak oil unless you have overfilled it in the first place. I’ve only had it a few days so once I’ve made other food I’ll update my review. But as of now I highly recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is a brilliant fryer! The oil filtration is easy, clean & super to use. Quality stainless steel. We have open plan lounge/kitchen/diner and use alongside the hob with extractor fan on but the lid with easy view window certainly helps keep our kitchen clear of steam & smell. We’ve cooked chicken, fish & chips with great results- so glad I paid that bit extra for the filtration and lid compared with cheaper more basic fryer! Really pleased with this!

Golden Review Award: 39 From Our UsersThe Tefal FR804040 Oleoclean Pro, having had this product for a week we have used it several times and It has been great, there seem to be a few negative reviews concerning this product and some questions that have not been answered properly:-
    1. You can fill the fryer to the max marked in the pan and there is plenty of room in the base when it filters through.
    2. When you have finished using it you simply turn the lever to the filter position and it filters through when cools down, you don’t have to wait and time it.
    3. We clean ours after each use once it has cooled down and if your simply cooking chips etc it cleans very easily, we haven’t tried anything likely to stick to it as yet.
    4. we have had no leaks or other issues with the filtration system it works well.
    Hope that helps

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersGreat to be able to filter and store the oil so easily. Initially very pleased with it. But the outer shell of mine seems to get unusually hot. Appears the heat from the cooking gets transferred very easily to the outer casing. It hasn’t yet done anything to the plastic oil container in the bottom, but …….
