Starts off a bit slow but necessary to get used to the mechanics of the gameplay. Characters move realistically.
Great storyline, with a mixture of cinematic sequences and moving form one area to the next, solving problems and combat with soldiers and infected. Use a mixture of stealth and brute force. Explore thoroughly and find items for direct use and for crafting into weapons and med kits.
Collect weapons and ammo on the way. Upgrade weapons and skills with collectables.
The characters of the game have real personality and human interaction. Makes the game more like participating in a favourite novel.
Always wanted to play this game since it first came out on PS3, however I was on a another console. When I bought myself a PS4 this was one of the first games I bought; and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed, has to be one of the best games of all-time.
Brilliant brilliant game. One of the most immersive stories I have played. Keeps you gripped and coming back for more. I had heard god reviews about this game but I cannot express how good it is!
As a more mature gamer I feel many of today’s games are more concerned about the graphics than the content.
For a remastered ps3 game this is visually lovely. However the way the story drags you in is a credit to the brilliant writers.
Even if you had it on ps3 like me it’s still worth another play through on the 4.
Totally love this game, wish they would make a sequel
One of the best plots to a game I’ve played in a long time. There seems to be stages that you play through but you can walk back at any time and collect something you may have missed. The game offers challenges and puzzles that you have to solve before you can continue.
I love this game the story is amazing and made me really care and the multiplayer keeps me going back and it includes the left behind dlc which is not very long but gives a insight into what happened to Ellie before she got bitten by an infected I would definitely recommend this game
One of my favourite ever PS games. Atmospheric, Bleak. Frightening in parts. The scope of the game is incredible. Really didn’t want it to end.
Haven’t bothered with the multiplayer yet so can’t comment on that.
This is just simply a superb game. Draws you in with a memorable story that keeps you wanting to progress to see how it plays out. Enjoy the game and don’t rush through. Possibly the best game I’ve ever played.
bought as a gift for my friend, he loved it on the last gen consoles and was really happy with it for the current ge
Beautiful game with amazing game play with an incredibly engaging story. I have been recommending this to all my friends to get. Even if it’s not usually your type of genre I would urge you to give it a go.
Hours and hours and hours and hours of fun. My boyfriend has completed this game and now plays on the online game almost every evening. It’s very entertaining to watch and clearly very enjoyable for him. He doesn’t like call of duty or any other game in this style but says that this game offers something more than others do. Definitely worth every penny
This is my favourite game of all time. It has everything and the story is amazing. Probably the first game I ever got emotionally attached to the characters. I really cared about their survival. Just hope Naughty Dog makes a sequel as I’m running out of good apocalyptic zombie survival games to play!
My favorite game ever!! Before was “Dead Space” but after playing this one, the way I see video-games totally changed!! Is not only about killing zombies and bad guys, is about surviving while building an amazing father/daughter yet very independent relationship! Is like watching a movie and taking part of the action!
Still playing this one , the cauliflower bubble wart head(thats the only way i can descibe them) people kinda give me the creeps and scare me a little, but like a true diva that i am , i will survive.
Game of the year! Enjoyed everything about the game. Story is gripping and reels you in.
Rumor is the are making this into a movie …..
There is a reason this game has won so many awards – buy it. This is an atmospheric, emotional rollercoaster with amazing graphics and a decent amount of quality play time. It is more like watching a film that playing a game – you will fall in love with the characters and you will be sucked in to the story to the point that tears are entirely possible.
This has ruined me for other games.
Immersive storytelling, captivating characters and gameplay that has you absolutely hooked from the word go.
If you have eyes, ears and opposable thumbs… This ones for you!
One of my all time favourite games along with Life is strange, Beyond Two Souls and Final Fantasy VII. Everything about this game is just amazing, Game play is awesome, characters are awesome, story is awesome, atmosphere is awesome. There is a reason it’s highly regarded as one of the best games ever!
Fianc wanted this game for Christmas for his new ps4 the price on her was a real bargain compared to the shops. He has played it loads of times and still regularly goes back to it. The packaging was great and delivery was very quick.
This Game was an epic story with from start to finish engrossed me and which I found unable to put down. With updated graphics for the Ps4 and also the add on pack it really shows off the craftsmanship of the games studio and love and attention they put into making this game. A real must buy on ps4
Naughty dog produce some amazing games and this one is no exception. The graphics are great and the game has a great story to it. The game arrived quickly from seller as well, I’ll buying from them again.
I don’t play as many video games anymore these days and my threshold has gone up significantly over the years. I was also reluctant to play a long drawn out story which didn’t look like would have a ton of action. I was completely wrong. This is one of the best games I’ve ever played in over twenty years. Probably top 10 ever (the awards speak for themselves). I’ve literally got emotionally attached to the characters and their story. And I looked forward to coming home after work and playing it when my wife and baby were asleep. It was like watching a really great movie (or a show that you love and want to keep watching). And the game play and graphics and music and just the whole experience is top notch. There’s been enough said by others about the technicals which are really awesome. What I liked the most was the story and the characters. Literally reminded me of a book or a movie that I loved reading or watching and really falling in love with the characters and their stories. I was sad to have finished the game!!! I mean seriously, these developers and their whole team have done a superb job. If there were oscars for video games and best screen play, best cinematography, etc this game would certainly win them all. Terrific game. Great job to the whole team and wish you make more games like it!
Great story and game play. Althgouh leaves you with a small disapointment of a sequel. Noughty dog game so you can quess how good it is. A couple of years have passed and they still havent annonced anything about the last of us 2.
Fantastic game, a favourite of mine from the PS3 bur improved. Everything looks better and the game runs more smoothly. It includes the Left Behind DLC and the Grounded difficulty level, which definitely provides a challenge.
If you haven’t played this before then whatever games you like playing you will still love this. it’s an 18 for a reason ..yes you may let your teen child play but personally I wouldnt let anyone under 15 play it .
Best game I’ve played on PS since moving over from PC gaming.9.5/10 brill game.
I’ll cut to the point, this is THE best game I’ve ever played (3 times and counting). Everything about the game is top tier, from the character development and story to the stealth and combat elements. Unlike a lot of zombie post apocolypse games You feel incredibly engaged with the characters throughout the game and the story, although a little generic, is masterfully done and I literally couldn’t pick a fault with it.
This isn’t a game comparable to cod or other fps games with non stop action, it’s story-centric and focuses on the main characters relationship.
This is a game everyone needs to play, and you definitely won’t regret it.
Having heard the good reviews I thought I had to give it a try at this price and wow, the best game I have bought so far for the PS4, best graphics & best story….BUY IT
Best game for my PS4 by far…and its the oldest!
Fantastic service, if, like me, you’re a grown man who has a lovely wife that very kindly bought her 31 year old husband a PS4 for Christmas then your probably reliving your teenage years and getting very excited over computer games again. I’ve also found myself getting very impatient waiting on games to be delivered, but I can very happily say that I ordered this game at 1:30pm and it was delivered to my door before 10am the following day. I very nearly hugged the postman as I was looking forward to playing “the last of us”. As for the game itself… Seriously, just wow! It’s so good that I’ve actually contemplated putting matchsticks in my eyes to keep them open so I don’t sleep, but unfortunately one of the downsides to being an adult is that work helps buy awesome things like this game. Graphically stunning and to quote what I’d heard so many times “playing this game is just like watching a movie”
If you’re thinking of buying this game, just stop thinking right now and press the “buy now” button, you will not regret it.
The last of us was the game that defined the last generation of gaming and now with the remastered version on ps4 you can experience Joel and Ellie’s journey all over again… or for the very first time. This game developed by naughty dog is a masterpiece that depicts everything I want from a video game. This tale will stand throughout the history of video games and be remembered forever.
I never played the original, only heard how good it was supposed to be from other people… It doesn’t disappoint at all, absolutely cracking game, a must buy for any ps4 goer. End of.
One of the best games you’re likely to have played.
I wasn’t sure about this game when I first started playing it. But when I got going it’s really good game, one of the best I ever played. The story and graphic are truly amazing
Many of you won’t have played the previous version but you must give this one a try! It’s third person based with role playing adventure game. You must survive in post apocalyptic America where a mutated fungus has taken hold and infected virtually everyone. As the game goes on you will really sit on the edge of your seat wondering what is around the next corner.
I firmly believe the PS4 has made this an even better and you must buy it! The graphics really make the game stand out providing incredible depth and quality of the people, buildings and surroundings.
Make sure this game is on your MUST PLAYLIST for the PS4.
The best game of the year 2013 has been remastered for the PS4. Made by arguably the best developers of games – Naughty Dog and their 4th Game of the Year in successive releases (Uncharted 1-3 also won GotY awards). The Remastered version features improved graphics and rendering upgrades, including increased draw distance, an upgraded combat mechanic and higher frame rate. Further additions include advanced audio options, an audio commentary, and a Photo Mode. It includes the previously released downloadable content, including Left Behind and some multiplayer maps. According to an interview, the development team aimed at creating a “true” remaster, maintaining the “same core experience” and not changing any large story or gameplay elements so if you owned the PS3 version its essentially the same but with a few visual enhancements.
I can’t comment on the MP as its not something I played. The campaign however is great. I am sure that if you are reading this, you know the basic premise so I won’t repeat that. I will say though that having played this on the PS3, the PS4 version is the definitive version. Visually stunning (although I do think some other PS4 games are better looking as they were created specifically for that generation) and plays very smoothly too. The journey through it will take you on through emotional highs as well as lows and its probably the best PS4 exclusive available at the time of writing.
Highly Recommended!
Possibly the best game I’ve ever played on a PS4.
Gripping, emotional , sad, cleaver, beautifully written and realised, shocking at times and full of twists and surprises.
Highly highly recommended.
Had this on the Ps3 and loved it, graphics were really good, but Ps4 makes it so much better. Definitely one of the greatest games ever made. Never realised that Left Behind came free with the remastered version so that’s a little bonus for us
‘The last of us’ is honestly the best game I have ever played. The storyline is both heart-warming and utterly heart wrenching. The visuals are breathtakingly spectacular and the gameplay is engaging and exciting. Ellie’s idle animation is adorable and will have you feeling strongly to protect her in no time. The different (and sometimes clashing) personalities of all of the characters (playable and not) make for a humorous, frustrating, and undeniably sweet gaming experience. The different types of infected will make you jump with fright, but their gruesome animation will make you drop your jaw in bloody, oozing, awe. It’s the kind of game you quickly get obsessed with and cant stop thinking about. It’s so good, It’ll make you start planning a survival plan for a real life apocalypse!
I have only played about 30 minutes of this Game, but what a 30 minutes it was. The opening few minutes are like something out of a Movie. f you haven’t bought this game yet do so NOW!!!
Where to start with this game…this is the second time I’ve purchased last of us, the first was on PS3 over two years ago. I was blown away by the game then, as I am now.
As a big fan of anything zombie related and especially the walking dead, I had high hopes for immersing myself in a scary apocalyptic world. What I wasn’t prepared for, was to be genuinely moved by a fantastically written and deep character based drama, focusing on what is essentially a father daughter relationship (albeit an incredibly complex one). The writing and voice acting that brings this story to life is truly outstanding, but the really clever part is how naughty dog build the tension, give you a glimmer of hope that everything is going to be ok for the main characters and then hit you with a huge action scene, or piece of drama.
In terms of the prevention, the graphics are top notch, the world feels incredibly real, and quite sad due to the decay and death all around. The designers have obviously put serious effort into researching locations and getting the feel right for each city/town.
The PS4 version does have improved graphics and also includes the excellent DLC from the PS3 version, but in my opinion which console you experience this game on doesn’t matter. The last of us delivers on all fronts.
I played it 3 times over on PS3, everything I loved then but sharper and with left behind which I didn’t get around to playin first time out. Plus directors commentary so if you like that kinda thing which I do you will play it all again after. Bring on the sequel ..
This game is totally absorbing, and so tense! While I’m more used to open world/sandbox type games, this is more story line based, but none the worse for it. The protagonists are well characterised, and the game isn’t too free with handing out ammo or weapons, meaning you really have to think your way through things and not waste resources! Definitely worth playing.
Absolutely stunning. Totally stunning. You simply MUST play this. The remaster is a great bit of work and frankly even if you’ve already played the original PS3 version you owe it to yourself to get this!
I don’t often write reviews, but this game deserves one. And it goes a little like this……. GAME OF THE DECADE. Buy it. Period.
Will pre-order The Last of Us 2, when it comes out!
Never have I been so attached to the characters and story of a video game. Survival horror is not a genre I have dabbled in before, but as a fan of action/adventure, I didn’t feel uncomfortable playing The Last of Us and got right into the grit of the game.
It’s honestly a check box of positives trying to express how fantastic The Last of Us is. Sound design is stunning, the gameplay and cutscene visuals are controller-droppingly good and the game’s unpredictability only raises the tension in an already tense post-apocalyptic environment. It is an emotional journey made to be played at night in isolation to only enhance the ingenuity and atmosphere that developer Naught Dog brought.
The Last of Us is a game about decision-making, and really gives its players control over the fragile and vulnerable characters with limited supplies and knowledge of the missions so that we are with our protagonists every step of the way. The game allows the player to approach any given situation in the way they see fit, and it is extremely unique in that even when you fail, the game never becomes frustrating because the chances of survival are so low that The Last of Us really makes the player think about their strategy without ever forcing a specific way of play upon the gamer.
This is kind of tough to review. The game itself is phenomenal – one of my favourites of all time – but the remastered version doesnt, in my mind, give me much difference against the original version. I havent tried to play them side by side, and perhaps its because I have an UltraHD TV which is upscaling both video feeds to 4k, but I dont see any visual difference in it.
The game itself is stunning, an empathetic journey through a ‘zombie’-esque infected wasteland where you, Joel, are responsible for helping to smuggle a young girl, Ellie, out of a government controlled settlement to the rebels. What starts off as an annoying companion quickly makes you turn into a father-like figure and the dialogue is simply stellar. Overall the game, and plot, is brilliant and I highly recommend it to anyone who has never played it.
Didn’t get this when it first came out on the PS3 but after reading all the rave reviews about it I’m glad they released an even better version for the PS4. Just goes to show that in the world of gaming it always pays to be patient.
Having been an Xbox gamer, never got to play this PlayStation exclusive until recently and I must say it’s probably the best single player game I’ve ever played. This storyline is so gripping and it makes for such an enjoyable game. Definitely worth a purchase, and I must say the graphics are unbelievable. Having had an Xbox One since its release, the PlayStation is far superior graphics wise!
Quite possibly one of the best games I’ve ever played, the voice acting, graphics, story line, game play, everything is perfect. I’ve played through the game multiple times and is one of those games I could see myself doing even more. Certainly worth the buy.
I have played many, many games and very rare do I end up playing them to the end as I tend to lose interest, not this game though! I’ve completed it, loved it to bits and am ready to start it over again…
The game truly is as good as all the reviewers said.
I had this game on the PS3 and absolutely loved it. I waited until this remastered version on the PS4 dropped to around the 20 mark and then bought it again.
Everything about this game is fantastic! The visuals, sound of birdsong as you go through deserted cities and a fantastic story which pulls no punches. The selection of weapons is good and I love upgrading them. The upgrades have a dramatic effect on their performance.
Very few games have I ever replayed Mass Effect 2 was one of them and this game. If you like zombie/post apocalyptic games/movies and TV shows you will love this.
Go on treat yourself to a real gem for 20!
This is simply the best game i have ever played bar none, it is a cinematic experience. It builds tension easily gripping you from start to finish.
Naughty dog do not make bad games and this is their very best. XBOX users borrow a station and play this game
I came to this game very late on a recommendation and I can say that it certainly lives up to the hype. A truly great game with an amazing story line and believable characters. Just watch out for those clickers!!!
Wow what a game, practically what i got a ps4 for (im a pc fanatic) along with Bloodborne & the Uncharted Trilogy, the hype over this game was massive & after putting off getting my ps4 for a long time i finally “bit the bullet” & this game lives up to its reputation… totally epic, superb story, great gameplay & lead characters you will grow to care for, yes the graphics are a bit poor compared to some games (pc ones in particular) but the gameplay just draws you in!
Well worth the money as ive completed it twice already! (do make sure you try new game+ after your first completion)
I already had the PS3 version and hadn’t completed it, so I wanted the port for my PS4. The graphics have been upgraded enough to make a fairly significant difference but there is little change in the gameplay. The controller colour changing on health is an interesting way of indicating but ultimately distracting as it’s usually out of sight while I am using the controller. I like the touches of sound coming from the controller though as it lends atmosphere to an excellent game.
Beautiful landscape, Beautiful storyline, Beautiful game. The best game on PS4 by some distance, the stealth gameplay is well thought out and whilst the combat isn’t quite perfect, you barely care when you’re so immersed in an incredible storyline against a stunning backdrop. The last of us represents the blueprint of what makes a perfect game.
I’ll be honest, I’ve noticed no marked improvement against the PS3 version and the NPCs tend to run into me more or push me out of cover (don’t think it ever happened on PS3) but its an amazing game still so I can’t fault it more than a star.
I read a lot of comments about this game and game reviews from popular game sites and was curious about it. I never played the PS3 version but I’m very glad I got it! This game was awesome in every way! Visually it’s stunning, especially at winter! The story is fantastic and you really do care about the characters. I finished the game in three days, not because it’s short but because I played it hardcore and put in some serious hours. I just couldn’t put it down, had to get to the next bit. You won’t be disappointed.
By the time I’d played 45 minutes I was hooked, the story line and character development for a video game is on another level than anything else. I honestly cannot believe just how good this game really is.
Just finished the game last night and man was this a roller coaster ride of a game. Loved it from start to finish but reading through a lot of the comments it’s all been said before. So in short, loved the game and would recommend it to anyone who loves adventure games with a few good scares thrown in.
One of the games of this generation, Naughty Dog delivered a stupendous game. I rarely play games with zombies in them, but since everyman and his dog had played this, I had to give it a try. The storyline is the best I’ve seen in game. The game play mechanics were great. I just can’t fault it.
Enjoyed this so much on PS3 I’ve bought it again on PS4, im a massive fan of the Uncharted series and can’t wait for Uncharted 4….roll on March 18 2016.
Naughty Dog simply have got it right the game play / short movie link is superb. The characters are well created that you believe the story line and feel the emotion and throughout the games. I strongly recommend this game if your a fan of uncharted I will be surprised if you didn’t like this. It’s a must buy.
Ain’t to bad considering it’s from last gen with a bit of a polish, glad it ain’t all about killing zombies, or should I say infected no once have I heard the word zombie, thank god hate zombie games!
If your struggling to find a game on ps4 that you don’t get bored of quickly, give it a bash!
NOTE: Update must be done to prevent glitches.
I love this game so far I am not half way through but I love it, I noticed a couple of glitches only due to not allowing an update before playing but once that update happened I knew the hype was worth it.
Read the reviews and then buy it. I judge video games on replay value and I’ve played through this game five times on various difficulties and still plan to play it again. Fantastic story and characters, with Ellie being the most well crafted video game character ever in my opinion. Deserves to be played in the dark for extra scares and if you don’t tear up at least once during your play through then you might have emotional problems.
I suffer from headaches when I play video games like this…
With the Last of Us…
I didn’t care – I just HAD to complete it .
Only disadvantage is – I don’t know what to do with my life after finishing this!
I was an Xbox 360 user so I never got the chance to play this game. But now that I have a PS4, I have decided to finally give the newly remastered game a try. And I have to say I am not one bit disappointed! The story is very well written, visuals are top notch, characters are very well designed and the sound is incredible. I’d give this more than 5 stars if I could.
I never really play games like this, normally into racing/football/fighters. But I heard this was an amazing game so gave it a go.
My word, this game is so well made. From the graphics to the storyline to the voice overs and gameplay. Absolutely superb. Wish there were more games like this. 5/5!
Great storytelling. This is a very clever game indeed that explores the relationship between character and player. It is not a comfortable game to play at times but it is well crafted and executed.
The game looks amazing. The environments are well thought out. The gameplay can be a little clumsy at times but the storytelling more than makes up for this.
It is definitely not a game for kids. Ignore the game rating at your peril.
Truly the best game EVER made, story fantastic, gameplay amazing. It is just so engrossing, characters are wonderfully scripted and the voice acting is second to none. A true masterpiece in every way. I originally bought the PS3 version, and I loved this game so much that I also bought it on the PS4. The remastered version is superb. A must buy!
Amazing game. The graphics a pretty decent and the style of play. You can choose to sneak through a level to conserve supplies. You can distract enemies and then attack up close again keeping the supplies you have or you can go all out and have a shoot out (not recommended as there isn’t much bullets). The storyline grips you in and you need to know what’s coming next.
Can’t recommend this game enough.
I am not one for playing games in a hurry and I am well into this game to make a balanced review, I think it is amazing and in the top 5 games I’ve ever played. The graphics are slick and I love the interaction with Joel and Ellie as the story develops. This is a game any playstation owner should have in there collection.
What shall I say!! I got this game for my PS4 as I was planning to play it again on the PS3 (finished it once on normal setting), besides I never got the chance to play (Left behind). I just completed the game again on hard today along with left behind and OMG!! I just didn’t think that I would enjoy it even more!! I never got attached to characters in a videogame before like I did in this game (and MGS of course!!).
The graphics, gameplay, stroy, voices, animation, models, charcters, music, and everything is superb!! I think this game is one of the best videogames experience that you will ever have!! Unfortunately its not available on PC or Xbox as every gamer should experience this master piece.
The Left behind DLC is great and different .. the way it was put together is so smart jumping between 2 stories .. definetly play the original game before playing Left behind.. oh and the latter only 2-3 hours long (if not less)
As a recent convert from 360 to PS4 The Last of Us Remastered was my first real experience of what a next generation console can deliver and I have not been disappointed.
Firstly the ambition of the developers is to be commended. The environment is rich, detailed and conveys a complete sense of desolation from start to finish. The story is strong and the characters are believable and people you invest emotionally in. There is a good range of game play bearing in mind the limitations of a 3rd person game. The triumph is that at times things get incredibly atmospheric and tense, if you persevere you will have sweaty hands at certain points in the game!
There is one down point – as with many other games – why it is insisted that you have to pick up items using an action button particularly during a tough time never makes sense. Surely any hero worth their sort who is low on ammunition or health during the middle of a firefight would not need to be asked whether to collect the essentials they need to carry on?
That said overall my favorite game since Half Life 2
Never played it on PS3 so no way to compare the current version, but this story is great and the graphics are beautiful. Controls easy to use and I think this is one of the best games I have played in recent years
I love this game, love my zombie type games, but i really like this one and it is easier to handle than others i can mention – but being good won’t lol.
This really rocks, you won’t regret getting it for yourself or as a gift for someone else – PROMISE!
Brilliant game, one of the best I have ever played. I tend to only play sports games and avoid games like these however Im glad i bought this. The storyline is brilliant and you fall in love with some of the characters. A+
Truly fantastic. The story is so strong and the characters show great emotions throughout the adventure. The amount of detail in the cut scenes and actual gameplay is phenomenal. In the cut scenes in particular, the graphics are that good they show every inch of detail on the character’s expressions on their faces. Sometimes you think you are actually watching a movie! I finished the game in just six days and I loved every bit of it. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who has a ps4 who is struggling to find any decent games at the minute. The Last of Us is simply beautiful and is by far the best game I’ve ever experienced.
Excellent game, graphics etc are exceptional as should be expected for new gen consoles and great story (so far as I’ve got) I would reduce it to three stars however if you have this on PS 3 already as I doubt the enhancements are worth the cost. As there is no trade in scheme like Battlefield / Call of Duty / Fifa 14 had.
The Last Of Us (PS3) was one of the best games I have ever played. The remastered version only adds to that and includes the DLC previously available separately. Presentation is noticeably better than on previous-gen consoles, gameplay itself remains unchanged (and excellent). Especially since this is now available at a reasonable price, this is a must for any PS4 collectio
I have this for the PS3 and played it to death, I can’t express how much I enjoy this game. Then the PS4 arrived and the game was remastered. “What’s the point of that?” I wondered. No new DLC, no hidden extras and I know the story inside out. The positive reviews got me wanting to see it for myself and I’m so glad I did.
If you haven’t played this game yet I urge you to do so. If, like me, you already have the PS3 version and love it then treat yourself to this edition – you won’t be disappointed.
When this first came out I rented it from Blockbuster and completed it on the first day. The opening 10 minutes had me hooked and it turned to an emotional rollercoaster I will never forget. Don’t miss out on this!
Amazing game, I’m a good few hour’s into it and it is really good up to now. I’ve not even tried the online yet. Just the story mode up to now. The first 30 minutes to an hour was a little boring but now it’s hard to come off it once I get on.
I never played the The Last of Us on the PS3, so decided to get the ‘Remastered’ release for the PS4 and I’m very glad that I did. At its heart is an excellent story with some engaging characters that are brought to life wonderfully on your TV screen. It’s very rare that I get so caught up in a game that I find myself playing for hours longer than I intended, but this game really got to me.
With some games you wonder if the price tag is really worth it, but that’s not the case here. I wanted to finish the game, I wanted to see what happened to the characters and I wanted to continue to explore the beautifully rendered environment. If you’ve not played this game yet, then you are honestly missing out on something special. Highly recommended.
I can’t be bothered to write an in-depth review but here’s the main gist of it: it is HIGHLY immersive, first game that’s given me goosebumps in a looong time. Graphics are excellent on ps4, the story is great – really grabs you and the gameplay is excellent. The little details amaze me, without spoiling anything, it’s safe to say there’s a lot to the game. For returning players there’s not much more except better graphics and a couple of hours of extra gameplay with the side story (depending on how slow you play) but worth getting again lol, yes it’s that good. The multiplayer is enjoyable and fun but not something I would play ALL the time as it doesn’t have enough depth but it was a bonus to an already excellent game anyway.
My advice: if you haven’t bought it, BUY IT NOW!!
Deserves its reputation as a masterpiece.
Tense, stressful gameplay blends seamlessly with well scripted cut-scenes. At other times the pacing drops to allow exploration of beautiful scenes and open up the developing relationship between all the characters. It’s a very linear game but for once I didn’t mind: by halfway through I was genuinely invested in the characters and wanted desperately to know what happened next. The ending is much discussed, but worth it if you can make it!
Overall a must play. And the remastered version looks extra great and bundles a whole load of DLC!
This is quite simply one of the greatest games ever made. The narrative woven into the game is incredible and gripped me to the very end in a way that a video game hasn’t done in an awfully long time. It breathes fresh air into the zombie survival horror genre and shows what can be achieved when developers attempt to create a truly novel story. It makes other offerings appear wholly inadequate in comparison. I’ve recently finished the game and after having time to evaluate the experience, all I can say is I really hope they create a sequel. I can’t recommend or commend the game highly enough!
I brought this because I was big fan of it from ps3. Like always still one of the best games around. The graphic improvements or tweaks are phenomenal. Is this game worth it to buy second time on next gen?? HELL YEAH!!
i would honestly say that this game is number 1 on every review and will remain a master peace for many years to come, with headsets on playing this game almost felt like being in a very dramatic, post-apocalyptic world that leaves you on the edge of your seat. If you have a PS4 then don’t turn this game down, it brilliant.
Up until now i always said that Resident Evil 4(on the game cube) was the greatest game of all time, but it has been taken over by this master piece, this was not even my sort of game, it looked boring to me, just wondering around in an open world, but i found a cheap copy of the game on Amazon for 23.00, so i gave it try, from the beginning i was hooked, the story is very addictive and you feel yourself being sucked in more and more as well as the action and the relationships that are formed throughout the journey. It takes you to another world, the only time i have felt like this was when I watched Avatar.
There won’t be game for the next 20 years plus that will come close, except for part 2 that is coming 2016.
The greatest video game of all time!
This reminds me of the post apocalyptic movie “The Road”. The beauty of The Last of Us is that it’s interactive, complete with all of the vulnerability, uncertainty and insecurity intrinsic to the plot.
It combines satisfying, choice-based game play with a outstanding narrative. It never slows down, it never lets up, and it never disappoints. I became fully immersed in the pandemic-ridden landscape with its characters and their individual stories. Especially, of course, those of Ellie & Joel.
This is the most memorable game I’ve ever played. The Last of Us is a masterpiece
I had purchased this game as it was highly recommended and was said to have won several awards. it is a terrific game but for me it was over hyped a tad and its one of those games where once you have completed it you move on to the next game. Good game overall
It’s been many years since I last immersed myself in a video game to the extent I did with this beautiful game. Managing to seem like playing a movie whilst remaining fully playable is a trick that few other games of any genre have managed. Fully deserves all of the plaudits
Amazing game (you’d probably guessed from the other reviews), best graphics on the PS4 at this moment in time, best storyline on a game i’ve ever played. Its a game with a book story. However they always keep it fast paced.
This is a 3rd person perspective game (which I prefer over FPS any day) the mechanics are on the shooting and crafting are simple and well thought out and the way every flows and interacts with the scenery is top notch.
All in all the game has a great single player mode, I stop and looked around maps many times just to admire the graphical scenery and the story just grips you and pulls you in, with many twists that you live through in the game mode.
Oh and the ‘infected’ what can I say about them… I’m glad there is a space awareness sensor that you can switch on in the game, cause when your stuck in a small, dark room and 3 bloody clickers are coming at you, you’d better be ready. It really gets your adrenaline pumping.
Great game, I would recommend it to anyone who loves to play story lined and action packed games. Get it!
A good game although a little repetitive with the undead characters…good atmosphere however and beautiful to look at. All in all a good game and it’s exciting to see what the PS4 will be able to achieve once more games come out.
Brilliant game everything I expected plus more, love the story line and after done with campaign you have the multiplayer side of it!! A must buy game. Once you get the hang of it you will live it, some say its repetitive but it’s the best story plot game I’ve ever played and amazing graphics and details so high
What can I say that hasn’t already been said? I was bought a PS4 recently with Killzone as a bundle ( that game isn’t doing for me) and bought TLoU even though I had the PS3 version.
The upgrade is jawdroppingly brilliant and I am thoroughly enjoying playing it again, can’t wait for the new Unchartered to come out.
amazing game,in my opinion best game ive ever played, was gutted when it came to an end, originaly brought this for ps3 but when I heard the add on was included I just had to by again,a definite game to play in your life time!!!
Amazing game, no complaints. Coming from Xbox 360 I didn’t know what to expect all I knew is what I was told.
Having played it now I can truly say its one the best games of all time the next gen graphics just add to how great the game is.
Particularly the story is amazing very intriguing and kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more
If you only buy one game this year, make it this masterpiece of story telling and game play. Naughty Dog deliver the goods once again with the remaster of the last of us. I never got a chance to play it on the PS3 as survival horrors don’t really appeal to me but this left speechless from start to finish. Easily one of the best games I have ever played.
