Great game,if you enjoyed fall out new Vegas you’ll like it as it looks and plays very similar.the game it’s self is pretty short but you can buy two dlc add ons
The game is awesome it tells a story the same way knights of the old republic & fable both did. The only thing I don’t like about it is the fixed first person shooter view. I really don’t like playing from that perspective so it’s taking me longer to get through. But it’s still an excellent game and the developers/ programmers have made something awesome so props to them!
I like this game but it’s a bit slow moving sometimes, it gives you loads of stuff to manage and share out which becomes a bit tedious. On the plus side there are lots of missions, choices to make how you want to develop your character etc. Worth giving a go at this price.
Fun game, now it’s very clearly just fallout reskinned. But that’s fine. Gameplay is decent, story is fun, and characters are likeable. It’s not overly long though.
Kind of like a more light-hearted Fallout set in space. A lot of humour. Loads of customizations. Good characters and storyline. Four of my family have played it, and agree it’s one of their favourite games in recent years.
This game is an amazing starting point for what I hope will be an amazing franchise. Yes the game is a little on the short side but honestly do not let this put you off it is a complete experience and has definite replay value too! For the first time in years I am excited about a new franchise!
Had a few friends who raved about this game, had recently played Mass Effect so wasnt expecting to be blown away…was pleasantly surprised! Very enjoyable
I wasn’t too sure what to think about this game when I first started. The first couple of hours were very slow and as you were planet bound the whole time you didn’t get a feeling of the epic to come. But once you were able to leave in your ship and go exploring, the game really opened up.
I really didn’t want the game to end and fortunately it’s a big adventure that took me a few weeks to get through. Great missions, plot, characters, dialogue and more. If there was just one criticism I could make is that once you start to upgrade your weapons and you get more companions, the battles become fairly easy. Even on the last mission, it was possible to let my two companions do most of the fighting, especially with their special moves. It was only really the last fight where I need to get more involved.
But a small quibble as before that there are a lot of challenges and exploring the worlds was fun. I really hope the adventure is continued soon as it does end on something of a mystery.
I had this game as a christmas gift. In a world where games are more frequently becoming multiplayer, always online affairs, it is nice to see games like this one still exist. A single player RPG with focus on story. It’s good too. It has an excellent sense of humour, some interesting characters, difficult moral choices, and lots of different ways to play in order to give it replay value. It does evoke memories of fallout games past, and it also has things in common with the tv show firefly, which I loved. If you like single player games this is well worth playing.
Not started the game officially but I’ve played a little of it and it’s already great with customisations of characters and such, definitely worth the buy
Now being a big RPG and story-driven console gamer, I was very excited for the Outer Worlds, especially as Fallout New Vegas is one of my favourites from the last-gen days and the creators of that were now free of Bethesda shackles. Let’s go through the pros and cons to make it easy for reviewing:
Pros
– Good story – as usual with these games the characters and main story is good with your choices making a difference in how the game plays out. Though most do not impact significantly, I’ll get to that.
– Characters – all the characters have been lovingly made and cast and you can really tell they spend time making each one unique. Some are leagues ahead in regards to interesting and good side missions, but they all hold their own.
– NO BUGS – I really mean it. Unlike the now distrusted Bethesda, this game uses a proper engine and proper QA testing. I reviewed this after a number of patches, but if you buy it now it is extremely smooth on a console.
– VATS replacement – All of you Fallout fans will know of VATS and although enjoyable, it is tired now. In the Outer Worlds, this has been replaced with a ‘slow-mo’ system which can be upgraded and gives you a significant advantage for a small amount of time to aim headshots or crippling effects on enemies.
– Upgrades – there are so many parts of your character like the way you handle weapons to speech to sneak etc which gives you significant advantages on situations. Advice – pick your playstyle early, i.e. talking, shooting, sneaking your way through situations as the barriers to them working in the late game are very high.
– Art style – due to the smoothness and colourfulness of the game, it is very pleasing to look at. Also with multiple worlds, it allows for the varied art style. However this can also be a con, see below.
– Multiple endings – aside from multiple difficulties which change up the game, there are multiple endings to be had based on middle-late game choices.
Cons:
– The main mission is nowhere near the length of Fallout. You can get through the game in 40/50 hours (which is still very decent value) which includes completing the main mission and most side.
– Only a few significant choices make a true difference in the story and they are late on in the game. Most choices leading a different ending sequence, but not impacting greatly. However, all are enjoyable and do affect dialogue throughout the game.
– Multiple worlds – now this is mixed opinion, but by having multiple worlds it means that you don’t have a large expansion map which is what I loved about Fallout. This means lots of loading and ‘fast travel’ from your ship. Personally I preferred one big open world or only a few MASSIVE areas like the Witcher (but c’mon, you can’t compare anything to the Witcher).
Overall, what a game this is and a great first release in the series. I fully expect there to be a part 2 and I will definitely be playing it.
If you like big open world RPG games then this is definitely worth playing. The weapons are really fun and the dialogue is really hilarious at times. The only reason I don’t give this game 5 stars is that a lot of the missions require you to go through crazy amounts of loading screens. At times this left the game feeling tedious.
For those that remember fallout new vegas this builds on that formula and improves it in every way, for those that don’t, trust me when i say you will love this game an absolute must play .
It’s a good fun game that I think has a reasonable amount to do. If there are a few bits of dlc in the future it will be plenty long enough. Somewhere between Bioshock, Dishonoured, and Fallout NV in its feel, there’s a lot to enjoy here.
One thing I would say is that the loading screens really interrupt the feeling of continuity between worlds and missions. Especially when need to leave a planet, can be 4 loading screens between one mission and the next!
Excellent game. Obsidian bring their regularly brilliant writing to a game that is sharp in its commentary and dropped in humour. The pulp sci fi space aesthetic is very different to other space-related games out there, and the universe they’ve built is an interesting and unique capitalist dystopia. Combat is decent, but could be much better than simply passable for story requirements. That said, one of the best things in the game is the implementation of combat benefits for non-combat skills – an excellent idea that should become a standard in RPGs going forward. This should take you around 30hrs to complete, but if you know what you’re doing , you can do it in 30 mins! The choices and consequences available really give you a reason to replay the game – they even have special dialogue for dumb characters!! In closing, well worth a purchase. Obsidian have always had more heart to their games than Bethesda, with less of a tendency to gouge your soul and wallet, and hopefully they get the support they need to continue to expand their library of great games
Great RPG Shooter and one of the games of the year for me. Not many games (besides the FromSoftware games) make me want to start a new game straight after completing 60hrs+ campaign!!
I’ve just finished playing this truly epic game. Extremely addictive and great fun. Well worth the money and more. I hope they make more like this! Only negatives I’d add would be saying that the huge variety of the health related items were baffling and I didn’t use any of them; also perhaps too many different weapons to choose from. This didn’t get in the way of having a good romp around each world in turn though. That mechanical right at the end was a real challenge but strategy rather than brute force won through – eventually! What more can I say, a brilliant game.
As a fan of westerns, sci fi, witty humor and RPGs, The Outer Worlds has become one of my fav games. It’s pretty much Firefly, a show I absolutely adore, and I can lose myself for hours in this game.
Obsidian have done a cracking job here. The characters are amazing and well written, Vicar Max, Nyoka and Parvati being my favs. Shame theres no romance mechanic involved but same time not every RPG needs them.
The music is beautiful, Groundbreaker having one of my favourite pieces. It can jump from western to a moving classical piece. The environments are pretty to look at and each world is different.
So far, I’m 34 hours into the game and no sign of finishing yet as I want to do all the companion quests. I know some people have blitzed through and finished it in 20 hours but I like to get the most out of my games.
If you’re unsure, try it on XBox Games Pass and see what you think. That’s what I’ve done. Then once I’ve completed it, I’m buying the Ps4 version. I love the game that much. It’s the Firefly game we have been waiting for.
If you like the Fallout and Borderlands series, this game is for you. It’s a sort of cross between the two games with how they produced it graphically and through the interactions. Its a first person shooter and It has character development, upgradeable weapons and armour with you and companions along with choosing what moral path you might take.
Overall: Great interaction game with a decent story.
I think this game was unfairly overlooked due to other big releases at the time.
I didn’t even consider it until I had seen that it was developed by Obsidian.
Being a fan of Fallout New Vegas I decided to give it a go.
It plays very much like a New Vegas with a lot of dialogue choices. It’s not open world as normal, but instead it has large open levels that you can move between.
Gameplay is good, storyline so far is interesting. Seems to be a lot of variety so early on.
Best way I can describe it is, plays like New Vegas, visuals like No Man’s Sky with elements of Mass Effect. “Fallout in space”
If your a previous fallout fan, worth giving a go.
The Outerworlds is a game with heavy decision making. It’s all about your approach to the situation of Halcyon. The Corps rule most of the areas of the space system and you have just been bought back to life by a mysterious Professor to sort out some mess.
The game is so funny, I was laughing more than anything. The rpg elements includes, levelling up, spending perk points, sorting out inventory and kitting out your hero. The ‘abilities’ in this game are quite different. You spend points on different areas. For example, spending points on your ‘range weapons’ means you do increase damage from different weapon types I. E. Handguns. But this later changes in the game, more info can be found in game.
The graphics are fantasric and the worlds are so vibrant. You meet so many unique characters in the world and also gain companions you can take out on missions with you. You can also kit them up with the best gear and control how they behave.
The Outerworlds has a unique take on how you level up and dialogue plays a very important role. I tried to my best to use the persuade skill to get through everything, but don’t let that stop you from shooting whatever the hell you want. The decision is yours.
You’ll love the game, it’s a mix between Fallout and Mass Effect. More Fallout. Great game but for me it felt a little short, I wish they had put the clock in the game. There’s day/night cycle but you can’t tell the time. I wish the areas where a little bigger with more types of alien creatures, it’s quite limited, and I wish we had more resources to collect I. E minerals and plants. Most of the in game items are consumables like drinks and bars.
Overall, I would give this game a 9/10 because trust me, it’s worth it.
Purchased for my wife for Christmas, she’s been a fan of the fallout series for years. She had a bad taste since fallout 76, but this has impressed her. It’s been on the tv since without much of a break!! I don’t mind though, great graphics and storyline to keep all interested!
Really great game, clearly draws from Fallout, Mass Effect with a hint of Bio Shock
The graphics are excellent, the writing is very good and the gameplay (once you get used to it) is also very good. It’s only let down, is that there is not enough of it. There aren’t enough quests, the main quest is far to short and there is not enough to explore and do (unlike Fallout or Skyrim etc)
In today’s gaming world, these type of games should be huge. Only thing that lets it dow
My wife and I have both played this game for many hours. The only downside we have is that it feels like it is missing…something. It isn’t a thing we can put our finger on, but the game just can’t quite hold our attention the way other games can.
A great return to the scene from the developer of Fall out New Vegas. Worth at least one play through. If you are after the platinum trophy, itll take a couple play through.
As said above, if you were a fan of Fallout: New Vegas, then chances are that you will also be a fan of The Outer Worlds.
This game has such a clear identity both in its aesthetic and in its tone. With its gaudy holographic signage, neon lights and galactic scenery everywhere you look, it is a spectacular looking game. At one point I looked up at the in-game night sky to see aurora lights layered over the bright orange rings of the planet and couldn’t help but smile.
The game world draws you in and I was very quickly hooked. The planets are all unique and have settlements filled with interesting characters and quests. The crew members you can recruit are likeable in different ways and you will quickly find your favourites.
The skills and perks system feels satisfying and rewarding and the inventory management works much the same as other RPG games. The gunplay is solid and effective and melee packs a punch, making it a viable option if that’s your style.
The story itself is intriguing and is full of dilemmas and moments of moral ambiguity. The story takes roughly 20-30 hours to finish (including doing side quests along the way) which is on the shorter side of the RPG genre but the whole game is so tight and snappy that I actually found it refreshing that the game never felt boring or directionless and had a clear endpoint.
This is a superb game that you can’t help but love. Having finished it now, it feels like Obsidian were testing the waters and that this is only an indicator of more to come in this game universe. It feels like the game that Fallout should’ve evolved into and you owe it to yourself to get lost in Halcyon!
Have to say I really liked the outer worlds. As I said in the title this heavily reminded me of Bioshock Infinite (which is up there as one of my favourite games) and fallout. But it’s also like they created a game based in the same universe as firefly, which is another awesome TV show.
Positives:
Great single player game with the great RPG mechanics.
Dialogue system is fantastic and very well done, in some instances I was laughing out loud at some of the responses as you can play this smart, dumb, horrible, nice.
I liked how your character can have flaws, so if you tend to fall off high ledges all the time, you can make that your flaw.
Great characters and world, like I said it’s like you are flying around in your own ‘serenity’but it’s called the unreliable.
Shooting is solid along with the basic stealth system that works.
I like how you could probably complete this game without killing a single person, it would be a challenge, but do able.
Negatives:
It’s a little short, around 40-50 hours if you do every side mission
Side missions can be a little tedious and boring, with many being go here get this item, bring it back. Especially if you are transitioning into a building and you have to wait 2 minutes because of a loading screen, and you spend literally 30 seconds in that building and you leave and have to sit through another 2 minute loading screen.
I felt there were not enough guns and weapon, you pretty much see every weapon in the first few hours of the game.
Customization is a little thin but that’s probably as your more spoiled in other rpgs.
Once the main story is over that’s it. Theres No going back to finnish side missions you missed.
More planets to explore, one or 2 planets you visit are really small, or there’s just not enough to do on them.
This is a cracking game easily a 4 star rating and I would love to jump into this universe again in a sequel and I would consider picking this up again on switch when it’s released. I would defiantly recommend the outer worlds.
Great game. Basically Fallout 4 in space, but with more colour. Lots of moral ambiguity too when it comes to big choices in the game. Not totally open world, more large areas world. Totally worth checking out.
Obsidian is great! Great visuals, good lore… but too short game. Second time playing thru was better. Then again, it’s not sandbox, pity. I do hope, they will release some extra content, new planet to explore, new tasks. Final boss fight was hard, but quite unimaginative.
It’s a solid game, its not going to win any GOTY awards but I really enjoyed it. I would prefer a slightly more sandboxy/open world experience but Outer Worlds walks a fine line between a linear game with great content and one of those empty open world games with hundreds of pointless collectibles which have become incredibly tiresome. Having a more condensed gaming experience is actually quite refreshing.
You can really tell this is a love letter to RPGs from Obsidian, Microsoft made a fantastic choice here in purchasing them. From the raised lettering in the covers to the pure game you get for your purchase. No day one DLC, no pre-order bonuses, no collectors edition, just the game like it was 2005!
Things I liked, they nailed the combat in a way I didn’t think was possible for RPGs. It feels smooth and very responsive, so much so I kept forgetting to use Tactical Time Dialation (slows down time for you to make combat easier).
Hub world (ship) makes sense, the maps feel big enough to not be small but small enough to give focus on each planet’s environment and NPCs.
Companions are great but you could tell some had more focus than others, they all have an ability which usually boils down to a one hit kill on smaller enemies and maybe half damage for bigger ones, but some companions have multiple voice lines, some have only one when they make this move so it gets a bit annoying.
Only thing I don’t like is the missed trophies, there are loads in this game! I would suggest a 2nd playthrough so you can enjoy it first then go back through and wrap up.
Obsidian have killed it with this one. The universe is fantastic, gameplay is fun, and it is really really funny and dark. It’s a little on the short side, but with side quests and taking in the atmosphere you should run up about 30 hours. Heres hoping on some DLC!
If Fallout and Bioshock had a baby – this would be it. Fantastic writing right off the bat, some of the best lines I have seen in a game for a long time, great voice acting too! Upgrading system is fantastic and the game doesn’t force you to change your weapons/armour if you don’t want to. Places are fun to walk around with some of them having amazing detail which really strike out.
There were a few places you couldn’t go (DLC maybe?) and one place I discovered was only accessible if you were lucky enough to activate the side quest (granted the place isn’t great to explore, but still)
I do wish this game was longer – I did EVERY main mission, side quest and companion quest (that I know of) in about 25 hours and sort of felt a little sad by the end of it and seemed like the game finished super quickly just as I was getting in to it.
If they are able to add in the ship somehow in to the gameplay, that could potentially make this the best space game ever. Imagine – ship customisation, space battles, good/bad system where you can either ‘pirate’ other ships and give them to a companion or sell them, or do good by saving others – the possibilities are endless.
Still 5 stars though as I was not able to put this game down – even though it finished just as I was enjoying it!
TLDR – Fallout/Bioshock-esque, great writing, funny, great visuals, story a bit short.
So far i’ve put in about 15 hrs and have never had this much fun since Fallout 3 and New Vegas. You are launched into a corporate run world trying to make sense of it all, and how you play is entirely in your hands. This game is way superior to Fallout 4. The dialogue is witty, your quest characters who join you all have their own personalities and chip in with the conversations you may have: you can either nip it in the bud or let the sparks fly. You can tailor your character to whatever play style suits you: be as ruthless or as charming as you want as there are consequences for your actions. Granted some of the worlds vary in size, but there is a lot of mileage with side quests and your play style. If you fancy your chances you can play on extra difficulty with the penalty of permanently losing your side companions once they die. The combat is better than fallout (at least in terms of manual aiming, though you can slow time) and also i’ve encountered few bugs (unlike previous fallout titles). The colour palette can be a bit garish on some of the planets but this is just nitpicking. Overall this is definitely a buy if you lament the decline of Bethesda and you’ve yearned for a decent rpg with decent writing. Go buy it.
I like this game it is a cross between Mass Effect with a bit of Borderlands. Upon playing the game I did get a little bored of the fetch quests it is a concept that is now quite dated so I think Obsidian should have maybe thought a little more. It took me just about 20 hours to complete this doing all the side and companion quests so not a bad title. I wish the characters were more immersive. It had a lot of help from Firefly with its soundtrack and ship layout which I liked but at times felt like they could have gone bigger. I hope that dlc is on the way because there were planets I was unable to select. I think my next playthrough will be a more slower one I feel like I may have missed some bits of each map which on their own is quite big.
Excellent writing, hard moral choices with good consequences, shooting and combat is fun, looks beautiful with no bugs experienced, some strange reviews on here saying he couldn’t complete a quest because of bad reputation with the board, it’s an rpg there is supposed to be consequences and you can workaround by going away for a few days until they calm down.
Pros: great missions
good levelling up system
wide variety of guns, armour and customisation
big dialog trees with good voice acting
Cons: too easy on normal difficulty (hardly died and had 60,000 bits and thousands of rounds of ammunition by the end of the game but had nothing to spend it on)
Much shorter than a typical fallout game, limiting use of planet system with only a few locations actually being explorable game coming in at 25-30 hours only
Amazing game yes it is short but not that short the devs did say it wasn’t going to be a massive game so I’d call it a medium length game so about 30 hours with side quest give or take but its very fun to play i just completed it and the ending really is effected by your decisions more of them then you’d think. 100% recommend.
I’m a big RPG fan. Tried Fallout 76 and realised I don’t like playing my games with others.
This game however is great as I can have companions, or not, but not other unreliable people.
I have read reviews saying it has no depth. I enjoy reading the dialogue, and searching through the dialogue options to find the best outcome I wish my character to achieve. If you do this you don’t finish the game in a few days.
There is a huge amount of strategy involved, and I love that there are no guide books yet, although it would be great to have one later to find all the bits I’ve missed.
I have barely scratched the surface and I am many hours of play into the game.
One complaint is it isn’t open world. Yes it is, it’s just the maps are smaller, and you don’t have to follow the road all the time, although that’s fun too.
Love the new “tinker” ability that seriously improves the power of weapons (at the cost of increasing amounts of bits), also the mods feature.
In conclusion if you love RPG’s you will love this.
If you miss that feeling of playing a great RPG game with no strings attached, no DLC, no special or deluxe editions, just a game for you to experience and enjoy, this is for you. Obsidian have done a beautiful job of capturing that nostalgia of Fallout 3 & New Vegas. Instead of one massive open world though it is made up of multiple smaller world’s and it works very well. The games very garish colour palette is actually rather gorgeous, the art is excellent, dialogue is well written, you can complete almost if not every mission multiple ways, you can create whatever kind of character you wish as builds are quite flexible. The story and the satirical take on corporations dominating and colonizing space is fantastic. Buy it.
Fantastic game. Great characters, great voice acting, interesting setting and lore. The writing is funny, bleak and thought provoking. If you liked Fallout or the elder scrolls games you will most probably like this. Even if you did not like them, still check this game out, its great!
the shooting is not perfect, melee is simplistic and hacking is just holding down a button. However, simplicity is not inherently a bad thing.
there is a lot of game her to enjoy.
If you don’t like dialogue options and branching narratives you probably won’t enjoy the majority of this game.
Like a mix between “ratchet and clank” and “fallout new Vegas” you can see obsidians mark in the game! Love the “ratchet and clank” aesthetic it has. Came very quickly and am very happy. Can’t wait to get back to exploring strange hostile planets
If you loved playing fallout 4 and was disappointed with fallout 76 you will love this game
Plays like fallout 4 but has a fantastic story
Started the game and can’t stop playing i
This game is simply awesome. Characters, creatures, dialogue, graphics, gameplay! Everything is on point! Super excited too keep playing! Yes there a little things like no being able to edit the physical features of your character mid-game or play in third person. There just nit picks! Overall, having a great time! I loved Fallout 4 and this is definitely giving it a run for it’s money! I would recommend this game to RPG lovers across the entire universe! 😉 Enjoy!
I didn’t get my copy from Amazon but thought I’d leave a review to help out other people wondering if it’s worth the buy. Well it is! Great game, I’ve always been a huge fan of fallout, the looting, the dialogue choices and the varied characters, Outer Worlds has it all! I would definitely recommend if you liked the fallout series. I never played 76 so can’t comment on that game but really has new Vegas and fallout 3 vibes.
Amazing and immersive game, loving every moment so far. My only gripe is the lack of third person view!
Someone please give Obsidian the rights for Fallout!
It’s lit can easily get lost in it for hours at a time and there aren’t many games that can do these things Although it feels like it’s missing something :/
Fantastic game so far. It’s like mass effect+fallout in style of the tv series Firefly. Loving the vibrant and colourful environments, dialog options pose difficult moral decisions that have consequences. Gun play is fine, obviously it’s not like far cry or Cod, but I don’t care, the story and the characters more than make up for it. This is what mass effect andromeda should have been.
Obsidian have knocked it out of the park with The Outer Worlds!
An RPG well worth getting probably a better one than I’ve played in a while.
Brought to you by many people, Tim Cain (Creator, producer, lead programmer and a main designer) and Leonard Boyarsky (Art director) of the original Fallout to mention just two.
Even from the starting quips as your choosing your characters stats, to the moral quandaries the quests have. You know you’re in for some fun, it has pitch black humour that the original Fallout games where known for.
Plenty of stats, skills and perks.
The game has a feeling of Bioshock/Fallout in space. But it’s a unique game in its own right, doing so many things right that a lot of games don’t do these days. With very little to nothing to moan about.
Some Pro’s:
*NO MICROTRANSACTIONS (You get a full game for your money)
*A great fresh ‘alien’ world
*Great dark sense of humour
*Play the way you want! /Branching storylines (Do what you want, kill whoever you want…or don’t) Sure you will fail quests, but the game/story will still continue
*Superb upgrade system
Con’s:
*Some texture pop in (not much though)
*Loading screen while moving to and from hub’s/planet’s (Although they don’t take long)
*Some weapons seem lacking in feedback, making them lack the ‘punch’ of some games out there
But all things said and done you should get this game! If you like RPG’s, games that don’t nickel and dime you and want more fallout/BioShock gameplay you owe it to yourself to get this one!
Like this rpg a lot, very nice story and combat is satisfying with colourful graphics. Kind of old school with dialog boxes and different choices to go for, aka Fallout 3,4 etc. Runs smooth on my ps4 pro and has not crashed yet, seems stable. Compared to Bethesda and Fallout 76 garbage this game is much better, solo play, decent price with no Atom Shop lol
Whilst Bethesda was figuring out how to bleed their last remaining loyal customers dry, Obsidian went and quietly released what is probably the best rpg of the generation.
Just wow. The game RPG lovers have waited years for! After the likes of the utter catastrophe that was Fallout 76, comes this shining gem – seemingly out of nowhere. This delivers in every way that Fallout 76 failed to. The makers of the fan favourite Fallout New Vegas have (once again) shown Bethesda how it’s REALLY done with mastery and aplomb. It’s not embarrassing as such if you work for Bethesda. When comparing this to Fallout 76, it’s downright humiliating.
By far the best RPG of the year and a strong contender for RPG of the decade. If you’re into this genre it’s an essential purchase
– do not hesitate before buying. If not, I’d still highly recommend. Put it this way, I’d be amazed if you don’t feel like you got your money’s worth after just a few hours!
All hail Obsidian! Please die quietly in the corner, Bethesda!
(NB My copy was Downloaded from PlayStation Store not purchased on Amazon)
I’ve been waiting for this game for ages and i must say I’m not a bit disappointed, obsidian have pulled it out of the hat again.
They really are one of my favourite developers, second to interplay, it really harkens back to the old rpgs but adds so much, if you’re looking for a new fallout don’t apply I feel that likening this to new vegas is an insult, this title stands on it’s own feet i really love i
Early days I’m around eight hours in but so far I couldn’t ask for more from a game. Personal taste but so far The Outer Worlds ticks all boxes, an old fashioned but at the same time modern RPG it’s got the feel of new vegas all over it but yet can stand head and shoulders on its own, bravo and well done. No micro-transactions just a one player story driven RPG, sad we don’t many games in the modern era to this standard, enjoy!!
Only had this game a day and I have not put it down. A well made, robust, funny and gorgeous game that is a huge middle finger to other big releases of the year that offer so little in comparison to this huge chunk of game availible for the same price.
It’s a shame that it got released the same day as COD as I feel it’s not gonna get the love it should deserve but if you want more bang for your buck compared to yearly updates like Fifa, WWE2K or COD then do yourself a favour and pick up this gem
I’m only a few hours in but it’s exactly what I’d hoped for. It’s like knights of the old Republic and fallout New Vegas had a baby. The shooting is solid enough, but it’s no far cry or call of duty. The real treat is the setting and the writing, which is largely what you’d expect from an obsidian game. The voice acting is well done and the characters have a lot of personality. It’s somewhat reminiscent of Firefly to be honest.
The design is excellent and while it’s not an open world game like the fallout series it takes a lot of queus from it does have some large areas to explore and each feels quite unique.
Great PS4 game at a bargain price on Amazon with free delivery
Great game,if you enjoyed fall out new Vegas you’ll like it as it looks and plays very similar.the game it’s self is pretty short but you can buy two dlc add ons
The game is awesome it tells a story the same way knights of the old republic & fable both did. The only thing I don’t like about it is the fixed first person shooter view. I really don’t like playing from that perspective so it’s taking me longer to get through. But it’s still an excellent game and the developers/ programmers have made something awesome so props to them!
Not a bad game difficult to beat the automated defence robot, towards the end
A surprisingly engaging shooter RPG in the familiar Fallout style.
Quality world design, gameplay, and storytelling.
I like this game but it’s a bit slow moving sometimes, it gives you loads of stuff to manage and share out which becomes a bit tedious. On the plus side there are lots of missions, choices to make how you want to develop your character etc. Worth giving a go at this price.
This game is awesome and totally captivating once you start you won’t stop. Really pretty game very colourful great story and not all shooting.
Fun game, now it’s very clearly just fallout reskinned. But that’s fine. Gameplay is decent, story is fun, and characters are likeable. It’s not overly long though.
Very like a short Fallout. Less open world but good interaction between characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing this.
Not what I expected it’s a kids version of fallout 4
Wasn’t as good as I thought it was going to be
Kind of like a more light-hearted Fallout set in space. A lot of humour. Loads of customizations. Good characters and storyline. Four of my family have played it, and agree it’s one of their favourite games in recent years.
This is a great game, really enjoyed it, did all the sidequests, had great fun, would definitely recommend
Good fun game. Not as long as I thought it would be
This game is an amazing starting point for what I hope will be an amazing franchise.
Decent enough open world game. Enjoyed playing it and the world it builds is interesting.
Shame all your party members are so forgettable.
It’s a lot of fun, and it got to me before the scheduled time. I’ve wanted this game for a while and I’m happy with my purchase
Loved it, great game, lots of exploring and story lines to investigate. Good replay ability.
I fully expect there to be a part 2 and I will definitely be playing it.
great writing. looks great. fun characters. good bit of replay-ability.
If you like big open world RPG games then this is definitely worth playing. The weapons are really fun and the dialogue is really hilarious at times. The only reason I don’t give this game 5 stars is that a lot of the missions require you to go through crazy amounts of loading screens. At times this left the game feeling tedious.
Brilliant storytelling different sort of game from this company but fun all the same
A excellent open world adventure game .. if you like open world games you will like this
For those that remember fallout new vegas this builds on that formula and improves it in every way, for those that don’t, trust me when i say you will love this game an absolute must play .
Great game to play. Good amount of action & RPG. Especially if you’re waiting for the next big game to come out. Looking forward to the DLC.
Very Fallout-esque, in the best way. Very humorous too and eerily satirical of corporate capitalism and how workers are treated by corporate machines
And also excited to see what DLC is on the cards!
Amazing game that exceeded my expectations!
Please give this game a shot.
Brilliant game, so much better than other games that released around the same time ie borderlands 3.
Amazing game. Couldn’t reccommend it highly enough.
Brilliant story, funny characters.
Thank you for this game and to those that shipped it out. Very pleased with it thank you.
A very enjoyable game! It’s a bit short so you have to kind of drag the missions out but overall I really enjoyed it!
Been told by my Grandson it’s an excellent game.
Must be good the
Simply Brilliant. Possibly a little short but hopefully some downloadable content soon. The characters really make the game.
Loved the story. Loved the humour. Just a great game
Absolutely amazing game. Takes me back to the days of fallout 3 where your decisions in a game actually matter.
A great narrative and fun gameplay, a very well done 3rd person RPG with some very funny sequences
A very fun experience. I feel you do have a good bit of freedom in this game with the choices you make. Do recommend.
Well done to Obsidian. Enjoyable and excellent game, with well written story and characters.
Christmas present for my son, really quick delivery, very impressive
I thought the story, gameplay and graphics were good. Also I thought it had plenty of game length to last you a couple of weeks
I am going to spend most of my pending holiday mastering this game. Good price and extremely quick dispatch
A great return to the scene from the developer of Fall out New Vegas. Worth at least one play through. If you are after the platinum trophy, itll take a couple play through.
Great game! (so I am told!!!) Arrived on time and well packaged
I bought this as a Christmas present and this was the cheapest around.
A very interesting world and story, never been much of a guy for these types of games but I loved this one.
Great game, would recommend to any RPG fan. If anything maybe a bit too short.
Fun and creative just imagine fallout in space!
Pros: great missions
good levelling up system
wide variety of guns, armour and customisation
big dialog trees with good voice acting
Cons: too easy on normal difficulty (hardly died and had 60,000 bits and thousands of rounds of ammunition by the end of the game but had nothing to spend it on)
Much shorter than a typical fallout game, limiting use of planet system with only a few locations actually being explorable game coming in at 25-30 hours only
Absolutely amazing game.
If you like like scfi RPG then this is essential.
A PS4 classic
Truly grea
Fallout New Vegas in space, but in my opinion so much better. Improved in every way.
If you love Fallout don’t even hesitate.
Obsidian once again delivers an excellent RPG experience. It is a breath of fresh air in such a predatory industry.
Great game a most if you are a RPG fan.
Amazing and immersive game, loving every moment so far. My only gripe is the lack of third person view!
Someone please give Obsidian the rights for Fallout!
It’s lit can easily get lost in it for hours at a time and there aren’t many games that can do these things Although it feels like it’s missing something :/
Like Fallout and Firefly had a baby.
The setting of the game feels like a sci-fi Weston, so if you enjoyed Firefly and Serenity, I think you will like the settings.
It’s really really good. Every complaint people have about Fallout, Obsidian seem to have listened and fixed.
Been looking for a new single player RPG, then this will be up your alley.
Really enjoying this. Good characters, story, decisions. Doesn’t need online and doesn’t require extra purchases which is ideal.
Really good game, if you love fallout out you will love this.
It’s like new Vegas but IN SPACE
They really are one of my favourite developers, second to interplay, it really harkens back to the old rpgs but adds so much, if you’re looking for a new fallout don’t apply I feel that likening this to new vegas is an insult, this title stands on it’s own feet i really love i
If you remember Fallout New Vegas and loved it, then this is for you.
Last time I bought a game new was Fallout 4 which was ok, not great but ok, this is very different…
I’m 6 hours into this one and it’s everything I hoped it would be.
Get it…. Get it now if you like RPGs
