Brilliant shifter for sim racing bit on the pricey side but brilliant quality
This is pure quality. I can’t say too much more. Setup is easy as Windows just sees it straight away. You get what you pay for and Thrust Master have built a solid and durable piece of hardware. No disappointment here.

It is bigger and heavier than it looks in pictures. Very good shifter, very solid and built for rough use. The throw is quite long on this shifter and shifting to 5th gear takes a little bit of getting used to but other than that I am happy with it.
This is a great gearstick for sim racing. Very smooth changes and I don’t often miss a hear when driving.
I would prefer more resistance if I’m honest but it is still very well made.
It hard mounted straight into my next level racing gt track rig so is a very solid mount.

I cannot fault this shifter one bit. The price is higher that the Logitech one, but for the extra cash you’re getting 2 more gears, full metal chassis, the option to swap to sequential (a little fiddly maybe, but not that bad) and probably the nicest feeling shifter know on the market!
Yes there are “better” on the market for the serious sim racers, with more resistance, shorter throw etc. but as a full package I think this has everything that most racers need.
was using the logitech shifter before this , that was a toy , this feels like the real thing.
I use and abuse it and still works perfectly and I dont feel like using a toy.
Not a bad product, especially considering the price but the lack of feel is noticeable, especially in VR where you cannot look down to double check. If buying this, either be ready to 3d print the upgrades, or jump on ebay and get them and all should be well.

Bought this shifter for PC and use it exclusively for Eurotruck 2. Very robust and a delight to use. Definitely a game changer. Found it easy to set up for 12 speed gearbox. A built in range splitter would have been useful. Overall very pleased with it.

Use this as a replacement for my Logitech g29 gearshift. So much better and an added bonus that it comes with usb connection. Big fan of truck simulations and this with a proper truck shift on top fits the bill perfectly. Recomend as a g29 gearshift replacement with no hesitation whatsoever.
A well put together shifter that is adaptable to most setups, having a sequential and H-shifter in 1 makes life easier when swapping between sims/cars. I use this on both my PC and PS4 and it works great, it’s a solid unit with positive feel.
This is an expensive bit of kit in our view…but actually wouldn’t want a cheep variant as we think this needs to be of a good & STRONG quality to handle the frantic gamer’s of the world!…well done, well made!

A great addition to my Thrustmaster wheel and Play Seat – all bought from Amazon. This will make the perfect set up. A must have in my experience.
Felt a bit “notchy” when I first used it but seems to have loosened off now.Able to slam it into gear just like when I gearshift in my car.
An expensive but must have for your thrustmaster, love mine and highly recommend on an Xbox one with Assetto Corsa. Currently driving a lotus 240r which is spot on with this!
These H-shifters are not cheap, but are well made & should last a long time. The only thing I did not like was the knob which I changed for a sparco racing gear knob, it looks a lot smarter & has a nice grip.
It is a rock solid product. Switching between gears is a little loud, there is a metallic hitting noise, some can find it well simulated, some can find it unnecessary. The major problem with this product is that you can misswitch 5th with 7th and 4th with 6th gears, there can be cover or something disables 6th and 7th gears. Another downside is that switching between sequential and manual requires 4 screws to be removed and calibrate again.
The guy selling this tried to pull a fast one, upon using it the shifter only went into 3rd, 4th and 5th which was incredibly annoying. But on further inspection a very peculiarly placed screw was interfering with the H.E.A.R.T magnets inside the mechanism. Afer that it was flawless, it feel very very solid and the gates know where your stick is going to land. It won’t make you faster on the track (unless you go for sequential mode) but it makes for the best driving experience out of the whole add-on range.

I was initially tempted by the Logitech shifter, but reviews mentioned the build quality being low, and the TM shifter being significantly better, and it also happens to be one of the only other options available for a reasonable price.
Being able to loosen off the shifter gate and rotate it 360 degrees increases the convenience, and the number of different mounting possibilities.
The only game I’ve not been able to use it with so far is Need for Speed 2015, because that game thinks the shifter is the main controller and it makes the menus impossible to navigate, but that’s not the fault of the shifter by any means.
The only slight negative is that you have to swap out the shifter gates if you want to switch between this being an H shifter, or sequential, and if you do switch to sequential the movement is kinda loose.
You can really use this shifter with confidence, the construction means it withstands aggressive shifting without worrying something is going to snap or wear out, and the movement of the main shaft is spot-on. There are no rough zones and every gear position is easy to shift into.
But now playing project cars 2, I am setting slightly faster times with this manual.
WOW!!! Outstanding !!! You also can buy an adapter to use with logitech clutch pedal set. I am using it with my t300 wheel and logitech clutch pedal set on ps4.
Gate can be configured for Rally style as well with adapter plate supplied. Good quality.

This shifter is great , very realistic physics in H-pattern mode. Took about 1 week for it to arrive (to sweden).
Very robust piece of kit. Feels quite realistic with the added bonus of adjustable tensioners changing the feel of the box. Plugged straight into PC and works alongside my G29 in most games. Extra gears work really well for games like project cars and dirt rally. Very Nice piece of kit!!
perfect once i have got used to it. its quite bulky so if you dont have space you may have issues but this is my only gripe. other review said its difficult to change between h and sequential, i found it quite easy although the screws are longer than required. took 3-5 mins taking my time as i didnt want to cause damage. had to learn to right foot break again but i back up to my top speed again on iracing so all good. would recommend to anyone who doesnt have a shifter, or an upgrade to the kids toy one that you get with the logitech wheel i had (i never used mine as it felt like this) 5 stars
This Thrustmaster shifter that I purchased to go with my Thrustmaster T300 Base for Playstation is really good. I had upgraded from the Logitech G27 shifter to this and it is so much more better. You can adjust how much force the shifter has to go into each gear. The shifter has literally mount onto anything and the top piece of the shifter does screw off so if you do want to put your own custom one on then you can do.

The only reason for awarding 4 stars is my slight disappointment with the actual shifting action. The shaft kind of smoothly slides into place rather than clicking or clunking into place like a real gear shifter. Also, the throw is a bit long for gaming. I have tightened the resistance bolt on the side, but this seems to make the action feel even more unrealistic. Though having said that, the throw and action does remind me of an old VW Passat I used to drive. That too was very smooth, but not positive feeling at all. I feel that with the modern high end sports cars you would drive in a sim this will not quite hit the spot in terms of realistic feel.
These irks are not a total deal breaker though, as the G27 shifter it replaces feels like a plastic fisher price toy in comparison.
Overall then, while considering the cost of offerings from Fantec and FrexGP, the TH8A seems well priced for what you get. A solid well made piece of apparatus, which is easy to install and set up and provides a significant upgrade from the G27 shifter.
Not had this very long but so far I’m quite impressed with it. I was surprised at how weighty it was and also impressed with the quality of it too. I have the T150 wheel and bought this to compliment it, and have it set up in sequential shift as I can’t yet afford the pedal set, once I have that I will change it over to the gated shift option. Its fairly easy to swap over, tho slightly fiddly. If I could afford it I would have two, one on each side of the wheel and set one in gated and the other in sequential, both LHD and RHD lol, that will deffinatly be a long while off, I need to save for the pedal set before then.
All in all, well worth getting if you’re into driving/racing games.

very clever design enables the clamp to be swivelled 360 degree to fit most positions on desk or race rig.
Plus the shaft and gate do the same, so this can be placed where you want.
It is expensive , but built to last. I have it bolted to my rig.
Can even adjust a screw to make the shift tighter or loose. adds realism to most race sims / games.
Awesome feels as real as you could ever expect, only problem is the clamp is bulky and gets in the way sometimes
This has made my sim racing experience much better, I always felt a bit disconnected from the experience using the paddle shifter on my t300rs because I’ve always driven a manual car, now I can almost imagine I’m really driving, the build quality seems excellent. My only reason for 4 stars is the optional sequential shift, it feels poor in comparison but I’m glad the option is there. Very simple to setup on both ps4 and pc, just remember you must use the included USB cable when connecting to pc and you need to select the ps3 option if using with the t300.
Nice piece of kit but WILL NOT work with PS3,ive tried everything,down load drivers nothing ,unit works on PC so will keep untill i upgrade to PC gaming
I was about to buy the logitech shifter with my g920 and glad I didn’t.. the price almost put me off but is totally worth it.. the adjustability is great can mount and adjust angle of shifter so can mount on anything it grips fantastically well and feels great.. only downside is the throw is a tad long but everything else is so fantastic I can’t even think of giving it anything below 5 stars..
It’s so much easier to race with this shifter than just having to use the control pad. Shame really that I couldn’t get it as a package with the seat,pedals & shift holder,maybe an idea for the sellers?.Otherwise extremely happy.Thanks
Love this shifter, although I have also purchased the Ricmotec short shifter adaptor ([…]). The product is very well built for the price with a great clamp which easily fits onto a desk or sim racing rig.
If I had any word or warning, Thrustmaster customer support is fairly poor in my experience as they expect any warranty repairs to be returned to France, this process takes about 2 weeks. That said, if you buy through Amazon then you can depend on their fabulous customer service to assist you.

100 was eye-watering when I purchased this, but the fact that it’s such a vast improvement to the stock Logitech G27 shifter makes up for that somewhat. Though you’ll never fully be able to fully replicate a car thanks to the vibrations of the metalwork grinding below you, the TH8A does a good job of giving resistance and therefore a lot more satisfaction with every flick of the wrist.
Changing to sequential mode is a huge faff; I only did it once and never did it again after discovering it isn’t all that special – at least not compared to the manual H-shifter. It takes about 5 minutes to do the swap, and that’s just way too long if you’re playing a racing game where you’re constantly switching between cars with different transmissions.
I have the resistance fairly high to replicate a car as much as possible, and as a result it produces a distinctive ‘click’ every time I throw it into a gate. It’s not the end of the world by any means, but it’s a little niggling reminder that you’re still using a toy – albeit a rather elaborate and swanky one. The throws are long, too, but I personally like that little aspect. Even with long throws, you can still pull off very quick shifts.
So make of that what you will, as these flaws can be benefits to some people. It’s not perfect, but at the end of the day, it’s a gaming accessory and not a real car gear stick. It’s not far off though, and the sheer daily pleasure it gives has just – just – about justified its high price.

Great piece of kit for any sim racing rig it is advised to invest in a Good stable base for whatever racing wheel set you use before you invest in this it would stand very tall on a desk top next to your wheel the clamping system is amazingly stable so u need a very steady surface to clamp it to it takes a little while to get used to the very durable but close gears the sequential works amazing but takes the challenge out of it ide say a must for any enthusiast with deep pockets
Works perfectly with my PC. Works on all games that support a manual shifter.Had to get it after my G27 shifter broke, and this is the best shifter I ever used.
This shifter is brilliant everything works i haven’t had any issue at the nothing is uncomfortable about it or anything like that. Only huge downside is that the top of shift plate so where the numbers would be gets scratch very easy sadly mine came with a few i forgot to send it back and they are engraved scratches sadly so that’s a huge downside I’d recommend considering that before diffidently buying this product.

The Best Purchase I have made on amazon all year!!! the feel of the shifter feels like a proper car, it really does. the Logitech one felt like a toy, where as this feels like it could be in an actual car. plus you can adjust the tension of it too, e.g. if you like it very light or rather stiff to move, you can do that. although I left it on default because it felt right to me.
Driving the Ferrari 312T around Zandvort on Assetto Corsa felt like heaven, the whole experience was amazing!. I cannot recommend this wheel enough, just buy it, you wont regret it.

Brilliant piece of especially if you want the full simulator experience with your Thrustmaster Wheel. I have a TX Wheel for Xbox one and cant stop using it! Easy to setup with a 360′ Clamp or if your rig allows it also comes with some screw to hard mount!

it has a great feel to it. Has a very heavy duty clamp to secure it to a table desk or wheelstand.
Has a lot of metal parts which makes it feel very good quality. I use it on horizon 2 and forza 5 on my xb1 and it seems to make me drive better than if I use my wheels paddles. 5 stars. If only the thrustmaster 3 pedals set was available.
Can be tricky to setup with a lot of games. Often you need to disabled the sift pedals on the thrustmaster steering wheel for this to work.

Fantastic shifter, extremely well made. Clamps securely to just about anything. Action is smooth with a little snap at the end so it feels like something has engaged. Simple to change to quick shift/sequential mode and the configuration software allows you to adjust sensitivity or remove gears completely.
Only possible downside is that the throw from one gear to the next is quite long, but I like it.
The shifter is a real blast when used with Forza 5 or Horizens 2. Adds to the realism and fun, but also makes it much harder! The shifter is good quality and easy to setup. Miss shifting is easy though, especially from 4 going to 5. Just have to get the T3PA Pedals now to complete the setup.
Awsome a must have, a bit of a pain to have to refresh your wheel to make this work but wow is this a great shifter!
The quality is great with the 90% metal contruction and the adjustable tension is more than adequate of this type of device and this price range.
Changing from H-pattern to sequential mode can take one minute or more which is the only real hindrance to the overall ease of use, as it cannot be changed “on-the-fly”.
The clamp is strong, the gears are 360 degrees rotatable making it robust and ergonomic.
Overall, it is a great experience and adds to the keyword ‘immersion’ many people look for in an addition such as this, particularly if you are using a clutch in tandem with the gear shifter. Occasionally, Amazon lowers the price of this shifter and it is then when I would recommend making a purchase of this item. If you cannot wait, and Amazon is not doing any price offers, but it is still selling at a good price, I would still recommended making the purchase as it improves the complete package feeling of driving a simulator.
Not had a problem with it at all, I used to use a G27 before i bought this along with my T500RS and this feels sooo much better than the G27 shifter, its got a lot more distance to shift which is realistic and the tension is better, I also like that you can fit a shift knob from a real car (the stock one is the same thread as standard car shifter knobs), I havent fitted one yet since the stock knob is still in perfect condition but i might in future… maybe 😛
This was a birthday present for our 10 year old grandson. He loves it, it fixes firmly on his desk and he can change gears very comfortably while driving his cars on the computer screen. Brilliant.

Only downside would be lack of buttons which means I’ve kept the G25 unit on my desk too which takes up more room than I would have liked but I’m considering the Thrustmaster T500 wheel which would solve that problem.
I’ve had the TH8 for a couple of months now and it’s almost boringly good. It feels robust, well built and feels like it’ll last forever. However, even at the maximum adjustment, there’s not nearly enough friction to stop the gearshift being too easy and fast (shatters my suspension of disbelief that I’m lapping Monaco in a real Ferrari 🙂 ). I bought it to replace the original, sadly demised, G25 gearstick and it’s better in terms of quality, feel and noise. But I do miss the useful buttons it had. A thought that didn’t occur until I plugged it in.
Thrustmaster, if you’re listening, I’d make one simple change. Create a blanking plate for gears 7 and 8. I still can’t get used to 4 vertical slots when using it (it also looks a little odd).
But despite this, I’d heartily recommend.
The only possible downside for some is the slightly light gearchange feel compared to a real Ferrari gearchange, but as I want fast lap times over realism, it’s perfect in this respect
