Bought this for work as I was hgv and travelling through Europe. Wanted a sat nav I could update and was reliable. Struck gold goof bit of kit. Never missed a beat and was a godsend got me to my exact destination without a problem avoiding all obstacles encountered with hgv driving.
As I travel A12 M25(N) M4(W) every afternoon approx 1600hrs depart Colchester the sat nav warns me in advance of major traffic accidents and always offers an alternative route has saved me hours of wasted time definitely 10 out of 10
After much research I decided to go with the Tomtom 6250. I drive class 1 lorries and needed something I could rely on. 4 weeks in and it hasn’t been anything other than fantastic. Easy user interface, live traffic updates and most importantly for myself accurate bridge heights. The unit can also be used for car drivers too. Not the cheapest. But we’ll worth the investment.
Brill sat nav highly recomend but info for truck is in mts and pounds would prefer ft & inches
Used it on numerous occasions not had a problem with any wrong routing for my vehicle
Brilliant satnav for truckers easy to use and takes you to most places within meters handy to have .
My husband recently got into trucking and says it really good. Hasnt done him wrong ye
I haven’t got lost or sent me down weight limits and is great when you take your device home it automatically downloads updates which is top dollar, It even updates the maps very quickly by putting in the new roads which have only just opened, Great piece of kit to have
Does everything and more. Can change it from hgv to car. Gives you detailed description of your journey so no confusion. Even mutes everything for you and answers the phone for complete hands free.
Absolute brilliant sat nav, this is a must for any trucker or motorist. Great price as well….
Works greats being a truck driver for over 25yrs and this is the best sat nav for trucks ive ever had
I brought this just because TomTom 6200 doesn’t have the option for weight and sizes for go under bridges .
Great piece of kit. Had to go the TomTom web forum for them to fix my free traffic and speed camera settings but they did it no problem at all.
Tomtom sat nav its not bad . connected to my phone easily . You still have to use you common sense . on your journey yes it’s worth the money don’t be dependent on i
This sat nav is really good. I have had a Snooper for a long time but this just seems easier to use. The only bad point is the voice control, it just doesn’t work at all for me. Generally it is very good assistance in my day to day job.
Great sat nav well. Worth the money I have seen a lot of negative comments was sceptical but made right decision well.worth it.
I’m very pleased with my new truck nav from Tom Tom. I’ve had them before, and so knew what to expect from it. Highly recommended.
I have been using this TomTom model for about a month now, it’s ideal for the type of work I do (artic truck) It has on a couple of occasions directed me down a dubious route, but as someone has already pointed out, a bit of thought needs to be used, before entering certain roads. The satnav isn’t something to blindly follow, have a quick look at the route, if it looks a bit iffy, select alternative route and the satnav works it out for you, simples.
It’s easy to use and I would definitely recommend it.
I did have an issue regarding my lifetime traffic, which had expired, but a live chat with TomTom on line had the problem resolved within 10 mins.
After buying cheaper satnav’s off a different supplier the old saying goes by cheap by twice should’ve bought the tom-tom professional pro first the satnav does exactly what it says on the tin takes the stress out of driving would highly recommend this product for the professional drive
Mainly used for rail replacement jobs on coaches and buses. Haven’t been able to fault it even on jobs with 16 stations requiring 24 routing points!!
The app for android has gone a bit squiffy recently but that’s not the devices fault!!
I’ve used this device for a couple of months now and it does a decent job in routing/re-routing. However there are a few annoyances which, if I’d known about before I would have thought twice about spending so much on the device.
Firstly, inputting things on the screen is VERY slow – touch the ‘search’ icon and there’s a 3-4 second delay before it responds. Slightly shorted delays for inputting data but still annoying.
Secondly, important things on the screen are quite small – the right-hand section needs to be quite close to the viewer to make sense, which for a ‘professional’ device is a real ‘no-no’, VOSA do not like drivers to be that distracted.
Thirdly, there’s no easy option to set group parameters (Garmin allows you to choose all-in unit/trailer sizes rather than having to re-input individual trailer heights before each leg or a trip).
Another issue I’ve found, after a bit more use, is that this device is lacking the option to use motorways in preference to minor roads – with an LGV this is often essential and other devices seems to have this facility.
There are a few other annoyances that I can put up with, as with any device, but as always, I suspect this has been designed by someone who has not used it in real life.
Good product, although I ordered 2 and just one was delivered. Amazon refunded straight away. My friend bought something else from Argos and he is not as happy with i
Used a Snooper S7000 for 8 years, never really happy with the ‘live’ TMC. It’s screen failed when I went to change the brightness, Snooper wanted 30 up front to inspect and another 30 + parts and labour to repair if it could. They also suggested that it was at the end of it’s life and perhaps buying a S6900 would be better. For a couple of weeks I used the inbuilt DAF satnav, which I rapidly discovered was a danger to my licence – roads unsuitable for hgv were regularly recommended. During this time Snooper stopped promoting the S6900!! So why try to sell me one. So after being cheated out of the life time map updates and continually paying monies for traffic camera updates, being left aghast that the major roadworks on the A15 at Lincoln, where not being advised, left me with the impression that Snooper had a culture of ripping off anyone and everyone. Never again. Hmmm why did Lymm stop supporting them.
So I had used a TomTom 6200, supplied by the company I work for, for approx. 6 months over a year ago. The live update was actually live. The operating system took a while to get used to but it was a good experience.
Updating to the 6250 was a no brainer. Really. 8 years too late.
Still early days, but one gripe. Only one profile. If you change trailer size, you have to amend the one and only one profile size(s), dimensions, and not just swap to another profile. But on the other hand it makes you check and add the correct dims. Other than that all good and a very happy trucker.
I like this sat nav. Easy to use and very accurate. I use different trailers everyday so altering the the height is very easy to do. It has never taken me down a wrong road. It has got some good features. Especially how you can store addresses and how it can give you alternative routes quite easily
This is great for truck drivers, occasionally sends you the long way round due to vehicle restrictions but on the whole would highly recommend i use it every day at work and is better than the cheap ones i previously bought definatly worth the investme
The best Sat Nav for HGV by far, I have used it in London many times and it’s not missed a beat. Its very accurate, I use it daily, it picks up low bridges and directs routes around obstacles like standing traffic. Highly recommended and I will be buying it again.
I bought this for work as I drive artics for a living, I have had to use it now on a couple of occasions with road closures etc.
It was excellent, the old saying, you get what you pay for is definitely the case here, this is a quality unit and I would definitely recommend it, easy to use as well, really well thought out operating system, but that’s always the case with Tom Tom.
Also this unit can be set to different vehicle types
HGV
Coach or bus
Van
Car
As such it calculates your arrival time correspondingly to the vehicle it is set for & the suitability of the route taken, dependant on the vehicle in which it is set to navigate.
So if you’re on the fence as to whether to buy this unit, just go ahead and buy it, you won’t regret it.
his sat nav is worth every penny of the money so accurate the live traffic is great and it has not sent me on bad road yet. also the uodates are good hands free but the speed cameras and live traffic are the best features and knowing it will check the roads for your lorry.
worth every penny don’t go cheep if your a professional driver your money is well spent lots of artic drivers recommended it to me .
I was unsure whether to buy this or not based on other reviews but I’m glad I did. I drive for a national haulage company and cover about 2000 miles a week and have been using this for two weeks now and it hasn’t put a foot wrong. The traffic is eerily accurate and the routes spot on. I know you can buy cheaper but I want something I can trust.
Boight this to replace an ageing 5150, which i thought was brilliant but the 6250 is so much better whilst i us it daily its not the be all and end all and common sense has to be used. Excellent bit of kit No1 for me.
Excellent piece of kit, I install all of my destinations through the phone app in the traffic office, then send destinations directly to it once in Bluetooth range. I’m a night driver and find night road closures to be a constant headache but this TOMTOM lets you know way in advance so you can plan your route accordingly.
Generally this tomtom 6250 is very good. It has brought me off a slip road only to get me straight back on again a couple of times, but no major mishaps. The mapping is very accurate normally and it does instil a sense of confidence.
The live traffic updates are a really good, the time and inconvenience they save is fantastic. Another plus is updating the maps etc over wifi, it is so easy.
Would I buy one again? Yes definitely.
One downside is you don’t get a protective case with your purchase. Tight bastards!
Great I’m a truck driver and this combined with maps and Google works a treat. Screen big enough and have it sat on the bean bag cushion doesn’t move of dash.
Other than not supporting ireland Eircodes, it’s a good gps.
Professional driver? You need this.
I’m a coach driver for NX and it guides me in and out of London avoiding the bulk of traffic everyday.
Used it on many private hires too, its very accurate and not taken me down any roads a 13 metre long vehical shouldn’t go down.
I am Class 2 driver. I have a big collection of sat navs. That means I spend too much money and the result was a big nothing. I bought this one and it’s just THE BEST EVER . I can say it worth’s the money the reason is… no more stress where is the most important for every driver. Very easy to use and very simple. I recommend it to everyone and believe me you’ll be very happy and exciting with this toy
This is my replacement as my dad claimed the older one,but I don’t mind as this does the job and is a lot faster and the Wi-fi update is great now I don’t have to find a laptop to update it and the app works great with i

Have been using a TomTom 6250 and an Avtex/Garmin as supplied by the Caravan and Motorhome club. The TomTom is so much better. So I’ve binned the Garmin and bought another TomTom 6250 to use in our other vehicle.
My husband is a HGV driver, and drives class 1 trucks of all shapes and sizes,,thus leading him to know the correct truck to bridge and roads ratio….this is an easy to use item..neither of us are savvy with electronic devices,,,he is doing really well and he is dyslexic aswell, this is fab

I have had this for around a month now,its much better than the snooper in my opinion, the traffic and times are much more accurate, the screen when you press it is a little slow to respond but does work, its great that I can update from my phones internet rather than having to take it home and do it like the snooper,it hasn’t taken me wrong as of yet but sometimes coz of the weight restrictions it seems like it’s taking you the wrong way but it’s not,as long as you use common sense I reccomend this to any hgv driver.
I am a truck driver I drive all over uk, have tested this sat nav around London, It is perfect as never taken me down a wrong route, live traffic is spot on. It is a must for any trucker yes it is expensive but well worth the money, you get what you pay for!
The height weight and length are in metres not practical have to convert every time use different vehicle
Excellent product. Is always updating. Just a shame that every now and then she butts into my telephone calls saying “I’m listening”. Nosy cow needs to go mind her own and concentrate on my destination and all those little red dots that appear from idiots on the road!
It’s a good day nav. Only thing is it’s very slow and the menu page and the eye glass. Also should of come with a as card. Might speed up t up a bit keeping everything to n that.
Has been great so far and now would not be without it. But the touch screen is a little slow to react and some routes are not 100% accurate. I have submitted map corrections but as yet no feed back (which would be nice). If voice recognition and touch screen where a little more responsive I would have given higher stars..
Needs a lot of updating with weight limits, low bridges new roads etc.
Routing is OK but keep an eye out for signed still or you could get yourself in trouble.
Bought this after passing my class 2 hgv and so far hasn’t steered me wrong. Does have a habit sometimes of taking you the long way round but I haven’t encountered a low bridge or width restriction using this so that’s the main point for me. It takes a while to boot up and doesn’t work in a particular hurry but I still regard it as money well spent and the fact that Amazon spread the cost over 5 payments was a win all the way.

I got this to replace my old Snooper Truckmate, and I’m so glad i did. The traffic updates are almost always spot on, and free! The map updates can be a bit slow to happen when new roads (A14 for example) are opened, but they’re free!!
All in all, a very good truck sat-nav.

All in all, a very good truck sat-nav.
Takes you to general area but find it doesn’t change route’s fast enough for blocked roads
A very good gps for truck. Never ever let you down. Awesome live traffic and warnings. Some issues with maps but good feedback from tom tom team
Had a snooper from 2012 till 2018 now got this Tomtom very impressed has not let me down in my use very happy touchscreen very responsive no lag traffic has been spot on very easy to navigate settings overall I’m very pleased I chose Tomtom
I love this satnav, it gives me peace of mind when driving a lorry in places I don’t know. I have persuaded my company to buy a couple of these. Route recording is great for new drivers who don’t know the routes. Big clear screen, guidance very clear.
Excellent piece of kit.would have been 5star,but the voice on mine cannot say the letter s,so Leeds become Leeds.
I bought the 6250 to replace my 6000. I wanted a satnav with bluetooth.
Over the noise of driving, , sometimes the other person can’t hear.
It’s a very accurate satnav but the speed of the processor is dire when inputting the info, waiting to go from one screen to anothe
Used for a few weeks, very accurate. Voice control is useful at times. Can bluetooth phone calls through this sat nav too. If you have used tomtom before its familiar, you can customize loads on this device to make it easier for your personal preference.
Has a setting for a car as well as bus/truck which I didn’t know about before buying. The more expensive models would only be beneficial for the screen size, the specs are almost identical otherwise.
The main, and really, the only benefit in this upgrade from the last truck nav is the live traffic updates without having to sync to a mobile device. This tomtom device is just as dodgy as ANY OTHER satnav device. It’s an aid, nothing more nothing less.
Never sent me wrong yet and I use a range of different trailer heights. Expensive but worth the money. Can be abit slow when inputting things and finding a route but works perfectly and tom tom email you when an update is available really nice feature.
If you’re a trucker then this is the satnav you need. It’s not let me down. You can personalise it to your own particular truck and there are some great features on it that can get you out of trouble. Live traffic updates is great and there are regular updates for the device itself which can be done via WiFi.

Excellent product, took me and a 16ft2″ trailer from the Park Royal London, on the north circular in tea time traffic, decided to put my faith in it rather than queue up going the ways I know. Hadn’t got a clue where I was in the end, was like somebody had spun me around. But I have to admit I was back at the depot in record time. Very impressed.
Has its little hiccups, used everyday for my job for the last year and let me down twice by turning off and won’t turn on until u charge direct to the unit ( can take 30 minutes at least ) will take through weight limits if it’s a timed limit … maybe a upgrade to sort that … other than that it’s brilliant!! Still the best I’ve bought and would still buy again , love how it’s wifi so update takes minutes…
Not what you would expect from Tomtom!
Nice screen size, but on a few occasions even In truck mode, for some strange reason, It will take you on restricted routes. 7 out of 10.
Look: don’t pay attention to bad reviews here. Every single sat nav has the same complaints from people but keep in mind it doesn’t drive for you. You still have to use your brain and make decsions. Some of these guys seem to be using these navs to baby them through driving like the one who says it led him down a dead end. Surely that’s a brain override decision.
I’m gonna tell you what this nav is the best on the market by far on. If you are a night trunker like me then get it. Sure it alot more than just a cheap one but the traffic and roadworks and closures update is about 85 percent accurate. When highways ‘anythings possible’ England closes a road this nav will pick it up and reroute you. Use that alongside your brain and you will never go wrong. The screen is not slow is average. Its usability is honestly great.
What this nav is not good for: look if you are doing multi drop. There is no satnav in the world which will be good for you. Brain power goes up over the nav. You cant complain about that. That’s the job that you do.
This Nav is one of the best and worth the high price.
I have been using Tom Tom 6250 now for approx 5 wks , set up for trucks
I find it very accurate as I have my points to deliver to set in grid ref not post code , so they are spot on
The live traffic is spot on
I find you’ve just got to try n trust the sat nav
At first when it would divert me I would get a bit anxious , but it has never yet sent me anywhere I should not be
I am very happy with the screen and the info it gives you to the right of the screen
I do find that when it diverts and you come to a complicated junction , you’ve just got to take ya time , as you could quite easily take the wrong route by rushing and not reading it correctly
That would be my fault though not the sat nav
Overall at the moment very happy
I am a brand new class one driver with only several wks experience , so this has been a god send
It has taken me into London wembley area a few times and not failed me
can’t fault the maps, but the operating system for the sat nav on a whole is poor. Its honestly like trying to use a mobile phone in 2001. freezing etc.
The voice recognition is a joke. hardly ever works and when it does the sat nav starts to freeze.
For the price they are charging for this it really needs to have a more up to date operating system.
It’s super easy to use this navigation! The device is fairly quick when planning routes or reacting to changes ( accidents or road closures). The screen is very big and you can easily see all the information on it.
Been using car nav then bought a cheap truck one that has not been wrong in all the time I’ve used it but with the state of the traffic in today’s never stop world I’ve decided to push the boat out and hopefully this’ll see me to retirement 8 yrs.
Only been using it a few days but as of yet it’s been bang on.
Having independent traffic instead of having to use smartphone connection is in my opinion worth a little bit more.
As with anything that can use voice commands it can be a tad frustrating.
Good lane 3d guidance some of the speed limits are wrong but that can be corrected by sending reports etc.
I did find the phone call connection s little bit quiet.
Other than that pretty good.
Works well and hasn’t led me I to trouble. Yet. Has a tendency to restart itself at random moments which can be a pain if you are really relying on it at that moment!
I am a hgv driver and use the tom tom for my work. I like the device, but it tends to take you on a long route for better roads rather than a shorter more direct route.
Does its job, hasn’t sent me down anywhere i shouldn’t have been yet. Not sure its worth nearly 400 quid as it is quite slow at times and had an episode today where it wouldn’t turn on until I got it home and charged it with mains.. Only been in the wagon one day since the weekend, plugged in the whole time too. Hmm . Doesn’t show many points of interest at all but possibly thats something i need to play with in settings? Traffic and roadworks updates are very good though, has helped me a lot so far! Just hope reliability isn’t an issue as its hardly cheap!
got this to replace my pro 5250 which had done its time.
took a while to get used to it but then it all clicked into place
only dislike is the short delay in processing commands when you wonder if its accepted i
Bought for our trucker son as a birthday gift and replacement for his old sat nav. He loves it!! Has many extra features , ie truck stops, services and places of interest. Updates quickly on wi fi, and free updates too!! Highly recommend.
It’s a very good sat nav . But it takes hrs to update over WiFi . Don’t try updating it over mobile WiFi ,I trod and was left with no sat nav for a few days until I could use my home WiFi .
I bought this as I needed to upgrade a couple of ageing devices. My only gripe with it is that you can only fix a maximum speed limit, that means motorway speed limits. However as a van courier ETA’s are an important element of the TomTom function for me. The ability to set maximum speed limits by single/dual carriageway also would make this device considerably more useful.
It’s a TomTom and so does a pretty good job as a navigator. All of the issues that TomTom devices have are still present as they still haven’t addressed any of them. Road speed limits still never get altered despite notifying them. Junction countdowns are still measured from the end of the slip road and not from the start. You still get told to exit onto the road that you are leaving and not onto the road that you are joining occasionally.
Basically if you don’t like TomTom devices there is nothing about this device to change your views. It’s a TomTom with all of their idiosyncrasies still in place.
Works great never let me down so far picks up road closures and redirects you with in minutes.
Only problem I’ve found on this is being a truck driver we work in tons and feet? And this only lets you put it in pounds and meters ? You can change this in setting’s but only get one or the other ? ie tons and meters or feet and pounds ? Which does not help being over in UK ? Plus always sends you long way even thou you know you can cut most of that out your self? Could not live with out it thou.

Much better than my old Tom Tom like the fact I get free traffic and map updates for life
Did contact Tom Tom to check as it said one year in the settings still try’s to take me the long way but you can change with to app
Great device
Very expensive for what it is but very useful piece of kit for a hgv driver. Much quicker than my old Tomtom and nearly as intuitive. I like the way there is only one button to press to go from navigation to overhead view to check the route. Hands-free isnt very good which is probably due to the small speaker.
Top truck sat nav, as expected. Upsides: real-time planning and really time saver based on actual conditions, smart voice control, easy updates, cloud synchronisation with your online POI, saved places etc. Downside: sometimes can respond slowly to touch screen commands for no reason, works eventually, but will get you to your destination safely. Great upgrade from TomTom pro 5150.
This satellite navigation system is exceptional and very easy to use, however after reading several sketchy articles over the internet from so called various users I did have my suspicions that’s it would not be worth the relatively hefty price tag , as a regular day to day class 1 driver with full adr , I would be happy to recommend this device to anyone.
I previously used the Pro truck 7150 which was also exceptional and reliable , however I was slight annoyed with Tom Tom as a company when they expired it’s use after only 4 years, bang out of order !

Straight out of the box, I went to update the maps and connected the internet and off it went. A while later all updated. Put in all my destinations, that was easy. Out on the road it’s great, it picked up lots of traffic all the speed cameras and told me how fast I was going. If I went over the speed limit the speed section went amber ( a bell would be nice) if I went over the limit a bit more it went red with a bell ( I think the bell should keep ringing). The only thing I did find was some of the speed limits were wrong and I don’t know how to correct them. There is a touch button in the menu for speed cameras. I found the voice control a bit hit and miss. Rerouting was very quick. I had my 9 year old tomtom sat nav on the windscreen as well and the 6250 was miles quicker. Over all very impressed. I did buy a Garmin 780 lmt last week, it would not update and it was very clunky compared to the Tomtom, it went back.
I drive a truck and the amount of road closures and diversions on a night is never ending. I can now take diversions with confidence knowing the truck part of the sat nav will keep me on the correct roads avoiding low bridges and weight limits. The sar nav is very slow and clunky when operating it but fine once the route is set.
Use on a daily basis for work, another quality product from tom tom, would be good if you can create vehicle profiles and save them because I use this device on several vehicles, which have different dimensions and weigh
A brilliant bit of kit, well worth the money. The only downside is when driving along any road with the radio on or when having a conversation with someone, it stops navigating and states “I didn’t catch that can you repeat” and then wont here you say cancel, so you have to stop to press the cancel button, even when the cab is quiet it “do you want to go to City Glass” or “do you want to find a fuel station”
Yet another Great Product from TomTom, Price is around the same as the other close brands or Garmin and Snooper but Tom Tom’s Live traffic updates are so much more accurate and so save more time.
Easy to set up Wi-Fi ,up dates no problem. Had some trouble logging into my Tom Tom account got a password reset used the same password again hey presto all good. First day out all good
Good but a bit limited, we called Tom Tom directly as the vehicle dimension settings are some what restricted, our STGO Cat2 Artic carrying plant and machinery cannot be input due to the way the settings work. Tom Tom on the phone to us said ” Yes we know – Thats the the problem’ not really helpful guys.
Our driver plans his route and does not depend entirely on Sat Navs but come on if you aware of the problem at least have a better attitude on the phone, over wise a helpful bit of kit in this must have world of gadgets.
Best GPS I’ve used.
I’m a retired pilot and was an early adopter of GPS. I’ve had nearly everything. This is an absolutely great piece of gear. I now drive truck part time and it’s never sent me down a weight limited road, low bridge etc. Leaps and bounds ahead of the competition.
Easy to use. We used out in the UK and Europe and it gave us good routing and accurate positioning. Traffic delays (UK) not always spot on – some delays due to roadworks shown didn’t actually exist when we got there; could be Highways England?
