Bought as a present. very pleased with it, size, easy to empty & kkeep clea
I purchased this bin as a replacement for a swan sensor bin. So far it’s working very well.
I purchased this Tower bin in November 2021 and was ecstatic about how amazing it was, until a couple of days ago, it just stopped working suddenly. All it did was make a whirling sound. I checked and replaced the batteries with Duracell, as always, but it did not work. I searched Amazon and could not find a contact to request a replacement lid as it is only six months old. Surely that is not right. Amazon please contact me.
Bin holds a good volume, the sensor works well and easy to empty
Reviews didn’t look too promising regarding lid operation. So far, after a couple of weeks use it seems to be behaving perfectly. Very few false (yet understandable at the time) lid openings, and works reliably with a purposeful effort to activate lid opening. Closure is a bit quick if you’re trying to scrape a plate, but basically OK and there doesn’t appear to be an issue if you block closure for a bit.
All in all it’s just what we wanted. If I had to nit-pick I guess it could be a little larger, but assuming it meets the advertised specs you can’t actually blame it for being exactly as advertised. I just wish there was a 60l version.
EDIT : 3 months later and it’s still functioning perfectly.
Easy to use and good open and close action. Easy to clean – wipe down but no defects I can think of. Great value and would recommend.
A good size kitchen bin and I don’t find the sensor too sensitive as other reviews have stated. Would definitely recommend.
It’s just a bin.
It takes 4 batteries which i think is a bit much just to lift a light lid up and down. The batteries are drained very quickly with this bin also. I would recommend getting rechargeable batteries as this will save you in the long run. 4 Normal batteries would just about last 1 week and then it can barely open the lid.
Auto lid worked well for a few weeks. Now just makes a noise. Even putting in new batteries didn’t help
It is a good shape, fits easily into my corner if the kitchen and is very easy to keep clean! All in all a very good buy.
Love it, except sensor opens bin everytime I walk past it, because of the sensor position. Sensor would be better placed on top of lid. But if you don’t have bin placed in a thoroughfare this won’t be an issue for you.
This is the best motion sensored bin that I have owned. It is easy to set up, to use and empty and because it is not too tall it should be easy to clean as well. But because it is plastic, it should not rust, and therefore should last longer than the other motion sensored bins that I have owned
I absolutely love this bin, also it is finger print coated, very large capacity, would definitely recommend…

Best bin I’ve had, no need to touch the lid so stays clean, great bin gear price
Love this bin it’s worth the money, we use this in the bathroom. For hygiene reasons you just want to throw things away without touching the bin, this product is brilliant. It’s so easy to clean as well. Only down side is I keep thinking all bins work this way, so now have to replace all our bins, trust its not a good look when your standing with you hand where the sensor should be and there’s no sensor and you are just stood looking confused. I’m sure my kids think I’ve lost the plot lol
Brilliant bin, really big and sensor very good. Highly recommend.
This is a nice, clean, sleek looking bin with the added bonus of the motion sensor technology, this comes in particular handy if you’re holding a lot of rubbish and you either don’t have a spare hand to open the bin or your hands are messy and don’t want to touch it to make it dirty, also during this pandemic if you’re disposing of dirty tissues etc it’s good to not have the cross contamination of germs.
The sensor is very sensitive we’ve discovered! Anything from a cat on the counter-top walking past, or my floaty cardigan floating past can set it off and there’s not really anything i’ve discovered can prevent this other than putting it in our very quiet utility room with less people in there! So be prepared for it randomly opening at times, but it does close fairly soon after so not an issue other than using batteries more quickly. This doesn’t come with batteries, so make sure you have some in. I’d prefer it to come with them just to be able to use it immediately upon purchase.
All in all a very useful bin, a decent volume to hold rubbish and being rectangular means it can sit comfortably in a corner and not stand out like the round ones.
Initially delighted with this sensor bin. Nice design..more off-white colour than brilliant white. The bin has received ‘compliments’. October 2021 the sensor bin has stopped working. No way of returning/refund item as bough over 6 months ago….disappointing
I very often don’t have time to write reviews especially when in the midst of a move, but this bin has seriously impressed me. And whilst you may think that it’s a bin and such a basic thing, it makes the world of difference how much use it gets during the day. The installation and change of bin bags is super easy and efficient, none of the bin bags show up, due to a small black insert within, which keeps the exterior looking lovely and slick. The battery requirement (which aren’t included) is very straightforward) of 4 double AAs. The sensor works just right, i.e. doesn’t react to people walking by, so you would actually have to be quite close to activate it and for us (most importantly) seems for now to be cat proof which led to the requirement for a closed bin in the first place. It’s also great at keeping smells in. Overall – amazing buy, and whilst a bit pricier is well worth it and shipped almost immediately. So great in fact that I bought a second one for the recycling.
UPDATE: the lid opening mechanism became noisy after a few months and then stopped working entirely after about 4 months. Very disappointing.
It’s a decent size bin and the sensor works fine but it’s a bit over sensitive. I find that when the sun shines through my patio doors it opens by itself, which at first was funny but is wearing a bit thin now. Difficult to find a cream 50L bin on Amazon that is not very expensive though so I’m happy enough to put up with it.
Absolutely love this product save touching the dirt or struggling to open the bi
Soft close lid, bin bag just slides right out even when it’s completely full, the little lip that sits around the top to keep the bag in place is great. Bin looks tidy, is easy clean… It did eat through the first lot of batteries in 4 weeks, though, so we’re trying different ones this time in the hope they last longer!
Love this bin. Good size, fits in with kitchen decor, easy to clean and change plastic bags, and replace batteries for self-opening lid – fun to use!!
This bin made of excellent quality plastic, it is lightweight and sturdy.
Fifty litres of capacity is enough for my needs and offer enough space to dispose of the more significant household waste.
It is about 2 foot tall, 1.4 foot wide on the top part, and sits perfectly in my kitchen without taking too much space.
To make the sensor work, you will need 4 x AA batteries ( Not included). The sensor is quick to respond, keep your hand in front of it, the lid opens for a few seconds and then closes gently. It is also really convenient when you have your hands dirty.
Its been nearly one month I am using this bin, I still don’t have to change batteries, but I have noticed that when batteries are about to run out, the lid doesn’t open fully.
Overall, great product, value for money and recommend it.
First impressions of this Tower bin were good. It’s a standard size for a kitchen bin and looks nice enough, it blends in well with the rest of the kitchen which is what we wanted. My only potential negative is that it’s a bit thinner and more lightweight than I was expecting.
The setup was easy you literally just take the lid off, turn it over, open the battery case up and insert 4 XAA batteries (not included) then switch the on/off button and add a bin bag (not included). To open the bin you have to put your hand closer to the sensor than I was expecting to get it to work so it can’t be done at any kind of a distance which is probably a good thing with a toddler in the house! It does open very quickly and shuts automatically a few seconds after you move from the sensor.
The manual says it’s guaranteed for 12 months from the date of purchase but you can extend that for an extra 2 years by visiting their website.
Overall I’m pleased with this, I like how hygienic it is as you don’t have to touch it and it’s really easy to wipe clean. I also think it’s good value for money so I’d recommend it.
I have had so many bins made of metal and I find that they start to smell of food and even using Bin Buddy I can still smell food. This bin is perfect as you can bleach it inside. It looks stunning and I have had a couple of compliments about it. I am absolutely delighted with it, and I think it is a bargai
The design allows the bin to fit into the kitchen without being obtrusive. The no-touch mechanism for the lid is hygienic with a soft closure after a few seconds. The bin liners are easy to insert and stay in place. Very pleased that I purchased this bin.
This is something I’d probably never usually buy, but now I’ve used it, I’d buy it in a heartbeat and recommend it to all my friends. The simplicity of making life fractionally easier is so worth it, and parts of the design have forced us to live tidier.
Pros:
* The sensor is extremely handy; you just hold your hand infront of it, the lid opens for a few seconds and then closes politely
* The flat top is a great design. It prevents you from overfilling the bin so you’re forced to empty it when needed
* White tone and shape is neat and elegant
* Easy to wipe clean
* Comes with a plastic insert to hold bin liners in place – keeps them 100% secure
* Shape and size is perfect for general-use bin bags and the bin just slots into a corner
* Can be opened and closed without the sensor if needed
* Stands sturdily and plastic is solid and durable
Cons:
* The sensor isn’t based on heat, so it picks up objects too. I hung up a towel infront of it and it kept triggering it
So overall, a smart bin was never something I thought I needed but just that small helpful function of the sensor has made the laborious task of throwing things away a joy! The bin takes 4 AA batteries which aren’t included but I think they’re going to last ages. I also like the little mechanical sound effect of the lid motor – it’s just rewarding.
Despite the one con, I absolutely love it, and wouldn’t hesitate to buy it. It’s forcing us to stay tidy and actually empty the bin rather than shoving it all down, and the sensor has stopped me from bending down all the time. My partner made the mistake of waving at the sensor to begin with which doesn’t work (you just hold your hand infront of it to engage it) so just bear this in mind.
All in all, totally recommended, another great product (with the option to extend the warranty to 5 years) from Tower and I couldn’t be happier.
Very disappointed sensor not working. Rubber missing other wise it would have been a great bin.
I absolutely love this Motion Sensor Bin by Tower! It looks very elegant and the cream colour matches that of my kitchen tiles. The bin shape is perfect, it’s width isn’t too large so won’t occupy much space, but still large enough to accommodate a lot of waste within the bin. The bin liner is also very easy to put inside of the bin. All you have to do is wrap it around the retainer ring and push it back into the bin. That’s it! A very seamless and easy process.
I’m also a fan of the motion sensor operator. It is a little shame that it requires x4 AA batteries to operate but my assumption is that it won’t need to be changed for several months. I like how fluid the sensor is and it responds very well to any surface coming in front of it. As you can see in the video, it opens within a second, and remains open for approximately 5 seconds before closing again. It also makes very little noise (if any) when doing this which is a huge bonus. Though if you would like it to stay open for longer, you will need to manually open the bin so that the lid doesn’t automatically closed but rather remains open. The automatic motion sensor operation ensures a more hygienic approach to disposing of waste and a lot easier. Would highly recommend.
Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! 🙂
The bin is excellent quality plastic, feels robust,is light enough to maneuver easily and unlike metal will not rust. The size is perfect, absolutely ideal for kitchen waste, perfect size for multi-person households too. The bin bag is held securely and does not slide down. We use a regular sized bin bag and fold it over the edges with no issues.
The bin requires batteries but does not come with them. The automatic opening mechanism isn’t perfect but is great for one handed touch free disposal, such as if the other arm is busy doing / holding something else. Also ideal when cooking, reduces the need of having to wash hands because of touching a bin. However i would’ve preferred the sensor on the top of the bin because it often triggers its self off simply by moving around too close to it. Maybe better to have a dedicated slightly out of the way place for it, a part of the room that isn’t so busy. It can also operate just fine without batteries, i like that even without batteries the lid seems to hold its self in the upright position as oppose to swinging instantly shut. This is good if you need to make some back and forth trips to the bin in a set period of time or are peeling vegetables as oppose to one item of rubbish for a single trip.
Overall i’m happy with this bin. It’s a lot better in quality despite it being plastic than our old bin which was metal and rather rusty and annoying too, way too often the bin bag would flop in on its self. An issue i haven’t had with this bin.
Doesn’t stick out like most bins do, and nice to find one that’s not chrome. Very easy to set up but they could have made it slightly heavier to stop it from moving when it’s not full.Dont let that deter you though
**The ease of operation has been displayed in the attached clip, by our little one.
A large 50 litre bin which conveniently doesn’t take up a lot of room as it’s tall and narrow, looking deceptively smaller in capacity.
Though it’s taking less room than our stouter, 30 litre bin.
I was even able to have it perch in our kitchen under worktop “bin drawer”; discreetly hiding it away.
I’m not convinced on the sensor’s operation. It takes 4 x AA batteries. A red LED, noticeable only from waist level, flickers every few seconds to signal ‘reading mode’. Hold your palm (or other body part) a cm or two infront of the LED and the bin lid dramaticlly thrusts open. It’s not ‘soft opening’ as such.
What im a little more underwhelmed with is the closure mechanism:
Between 4 and 5 seconds after the lid pops open.
The closure mechanism then activates and proceeds to shut the lid. This works with a little bit more finesse than the opening – closing in a way which doesn’t cause panic.
BUT, if you forget to stand in front, (as I often do, when im rushing about preparing dinner), of the LED detector, then the lid will commence it’s closing operation mid-use. This is more annoying when you spend longer than a few seconds emptying the contents of a pot etc.
If you have the bin freestanding on the ground – as oppose to a cupboard, it may prove to work more efficiently, as I would be able to place myself in-front of the sensor, which then triggers the lid to remain open, until it no longer detects an obstruction.
Just to point out:
Tower do recommend that the bin is placed away from any immediate obstructions to the sensor: so it isn’t meant to be placed in a confined unit like a cupboard.
But even so, it operates remarkably well in our unit. It doesn’t fumble and endlessly opens and shut once the kitchen drawer is shut. It attempts to open once. But detecting the obtrusion of the worktop over it, stopping the lid from fully opening, it shuts. And remains shut. Which is exactly what is needed for a bin for our drawer.
I can override the sensor by simply slipping the lid open by hand. This way, it stays open until I shut it.
5 stars
If you are looking for a reasonably smart looking bin that can be operated hands free, then you would do well to consider this model. Although incredibly lightweight, it feels of mostly sturdy design with the only thin part being the lid.
Bin liners are hidden so there are no ugly flaps showing from underneath the lid and the sensor works well and gives you sufficient time to deposit rubbish before the lid closes. You need to supply and fit four AA batteries to operate the lid, but those should last between three and six months depending on use; an on/off switch is located on the underside of the lid.
This offers hands free operation and, although all plastic, the bin looks good and is easy to keep clean just with a damp cloth. Just keep an eye on the batteries and replace them when they start to run down.
The bin arrived in a Tower branded top opening box with images and product details on the outside, the bin came in a plastic sleeve and fitted tightly into the box, inside the bin it had a glossy pamphlet covering the care and use instructions along with accompanying pictures.
First impressions, the bin is quite light and appears very well finished, the opening sensor is a small panel on the front of the lid section and the batteries (not supplied) go into a compartment under the lid of the bin with a clip cover which seems to hold very securely, the bag holding system is a plastic loop the top of the bin liner wraps round and clips in, I have used this system before and although simple it works really well.
After opening it up I fitted four AA batteries, the bin liner, switched it on and it was ready to go, the sensor works well opening the bin as it should, it stays open for five seconds and can be manually opened if needed for longer periods without any issue, the bin is fairly easy to clean and the top removes simply for emptying, the bin liner holding system holds the liner nice and tight but is also very easy to remove and empty.
Overall a simple and minimal design which works well, the bin is quite light but seems sturdy, the lid has a small switch so can be turned on and off should you need to or for emptying. I can’t really fault it as it does its designed job very well so have given top marks.
Ottima pattumiera automatica. Molto capiente. Un po’ ingombrante (ctrl le dimensioni!) ma davvero ottimo acquisto.
Ok, let me tell you this!
When I got it out of the box and set it up, it was going all over the place – closing randomly, opening randomly, not pening no matter what you did, staying open, you name it! The only thing it did not do is scream some random stuff and try to throw rubbish on the floor! I even recorded a video to demonstrate how temperamental with a stupid mind of its own it had!
Then a stuck it behind the door and left it – out of sight, out of mind kinda thing, as at the end of the day, it was still ok as a bin, looked well and was of a really decent size.
The following morning, the bin was a different bin altogether – no random behavour, immediate response from any stimuli (LOL) applied to the sensor, but not to the extent where you only need to walk past it and it goes – hey….open sesame, right?
It has ADAPTED to its environment! Like literally learnt what is what and when it is a good time to open, and what it is not!
Impressed, or what? LOL
It is a good looking bin – basic, but sleek! Of a great size and most importantly, the sensor works a treat!
Have used this for two weeks nearly.
Advantages, you use less bags as this can store A LOT! Very easy to load and unload a new bag. Made out of white plastic, make it’s easy to wipe down.
Disadvantage, if the sense is blocked then the lid remains open. So if you place this behind a door, as long as the door is in proximity to the sensor the bin will open, and remain open, unless sensor is cleared. We tired to place ours behind a glass door, and no luck, as each time the door is opened the sense goes off.
Tip…if the bin is not closing, then it means someone may have accidentally opened it manually. In that case just wave your hand past the sensor, as that will re-engage the mechanism and allow the lid to close after 4 seconds.
Oh and make sure you use a 50L bit liner, as anything smaller or of a different size WILL cause you a headache.
This is my first automatic sensor bin and so far I’m impressed. The sensor is fast enough to detect motion without making you wait too long (though not as quick as just opening it yourself!) 50L isn’t as big as some kitchen bins but I prefer a smaller bin as it prevents things sitting for too long before being taken outside – reduces the risk of nasty bin juice leaking out of the bag.
The sensor needs 4 x AA batteries which you’ll need to provide so make sure you have some on hand. Easy to install, basic on/off switch too so can be used without the sensor if you choose.
Overall happy with the product.
I really like this Tower Sensor Bin, it’s tall, made of easy to clean plastic and doesn’t dent, and it has a good 50 litre capacity. The rectangular shape fits in nicely at the end of a kitchen base unit or island and this white one is a matte white with a black retainer ring inside the top. The retainer ring holds the bin bag in place neatly. The bin can also fit a larger supermarket carrier bag (like Ocado’s) if, like me, you recycle your bags to hold rubbish. The lid is automatic, it has a battery compartment underneath that holds 4 AA batteries and an on/off switch (useful for when you’re emptying the rubbish bag). The lid has a sensor at the front that is activated by close movement. It swings open and will close after 5 seconds if it doesn’t detect movement, so it won’t slam shut whilst you’re putting your rubbish in. It does open and close quite quickly. The lid just sits on the base so it’s easy to lift off. The mechanism is quiet. The batteries last around 3 months with daily family use, but this will vary from family to family. I recommend using long life batteries. It has a 1 year guarantee with a further 2 years when you register your bin online with Tower. It’s a well made bin that’s nicely made that’s excellent value too for a 50L sensor bin I am happy to recommend. Please see my photos and and video, I hope my review is helpful to you, thanks for reading it.
I like it and I use for my kitchen which makes my kitchen looks nice.
Best bin amongst other sensor bins. Had quite an expensive sensor bin before made of metal and it rusted at the bottom after a few months. This being plastic prevents this happening. A large opening bin lid as well.
Me ha gustado , el material las medidas que se ajustan donde lo quera poner y la facilidad de que te detecta y se abre y cierra la tapa
Lo hago para guardar la ropa sucia hasta el momento de lavarla
PERFECTA
Absolutely brilliant should have bought one years ago. Fits nicely under work surface opens without having to pull ou
We are really happy with the bin, it works perfectly, its sensitive the dog loves setting it off
This is a great bin for the money, good quality, perfect size and just as good as other more expensive names. Easy to set up, just remember to get your batteries!
