I like Trend Routers because they are accurate, easy to set-up, and normally good to go right of the box. However, a few days ago I bought a T5 and when it arrived, The first thing I did was to attempt to fit a
TREND FHA/001 Fine Height Adjuster as I planned to use it with the trend pro/Mk3 router table. The three depth stops had bee tightened so severely I snapped of the longest stop, (not the screw, the stop column) which was needed to fit the FHA to. I thought ok these things happen so I returned it and ordered another. It arrived and obviously the first thing I did was to check the depth stops. I don’t know why, but it was the same problem again. Aware now, I manage to ease the nuts free but not without damaging them (as can be seen from the 2nd pic). I don’t know what Trend are doing, is it just a bad batch or something in their factory… I’m just passing on my experience and advising awareness… good luck.
Had one of these delivered minus the kitbox. It came in a knackered cardboard box that made it look second hand. Was sent a replacement which was exactly the same, right down to the box, held together with sellotape. The machine seems good quality however.
Update: I’ve now had time to try it. I’m very pleased with it. The soft start makes you feel in control as it doesn’t try to jump out of my hands when I start it. The plunge action is smooth and easy. The tramel attachment is a nice addition but you can’t use it to cut holes smaller than about 250mm. I don’t think this is a fault but just bear it in mind. Overall a nice machine and a massive upgrade to my cheap Bosch
This makes the set with regards to routing, this replaced the same model I managed to burn out through continuous use, it was annoying that delivery was months rather than days but worth i
I have 5 other routers of different sizes and different manufactures one of which finally stopped working unable to get spares i shopped around and found this it seems a good bit of kit ideal for the first time routing enthusias
so far running smooth , but I use it only couple of times , keep my right to change this opinion when get a bit more use of the machine
Trend make good stuff and this router is no exception. Mounted it under a table and it’s superb
You can always rely on Trend to get it right! I bought this to replace the last Trend Router that had lasted over twenty years. Buy with confidence!
Excellent DIYer tool, so very nimble for this size of router. Worth the extra you will spend over other cheaper alternatives.
Bought this to replace my worn out Elu I only hope it lasts as long the Elu did 20yrs plus,If its like other trend tools I have bought it will no doubt about it.
Easy to set up and use. Very versatile. Perfect buy.
Bought this router to replace an old and cheap one that never did ‘do the business’…in some part, due to my own lack of skill, it must be said! I decided that this Trend router might make up for some of my inabilities, and it turns out, a well designed piece of equipment, which this is, goes a long way to that end. I’ve used it so far for a bookcase project and it’s done a great job – still some errors (on my part), but the router makes it possible to learn and improve.
Only 4 stars because the plunge action seemed a little sticky to begin with, so it tended to make the cutting tool come down to the workpiece rather harshly. This has got better, so I can’t be sure if this was an initial problem with the tool, or the operator!
excellent router, after looking at different router this one works well and good for the attachments you can get fromTrend
This quickly delivered router is a neat comfortable to use size. I got it to replace a less expensive one which didn’t turn out to be the bargain I thought it would be. Although this one is four times the price of the “bargain”, I’m confident that this is money well spent. At first I thought they’d omitted the collet and collet-nut but they were already installed in the machine. I’m just waiting on my fine adjuster and then I’ll be able to practice making dovetail joints on the Trend CDJ300 Dovetail Jig.
