Easy to put up and very well made. It does a good job of keeping the flies out. It wasn’t the cheapest, but it feels strong enough to last a few years. A tip….Keep the box it comes in to put it away and keep safe for the winter. Defo recommend.
This is brilliant!
I have a dog, my neighbours have dogs & rabbits, you can imagine the flies!
We have had hardly any flies in the house this year thanks to this.
I have this on the inside porch door to the garden & I leave the door open from the moment I get up until I go to bed & it’s stopped the flies 99.9%
So much better than keep buying traps & sprays, this has earned its money this year!
I normally don’t write reviews, but in this case I feel I really need to. I wasn’t sure about purchasing a chain curtain that is over 60 but as we live in the country side, I thought I’d give it a try after literally trying everything to get rid of the flies, and I mean everything! The curtain arrived quicker than expected, it was easy to install and to trim its length was pretty easy too. Pretty much straight away after having the chain curtain up, we’ve noticed a significant drop in the amount of flies in our kitchen. Don’t get me wrong we’ll get an odd one or two flies but not a full ‘army’ of them. For anyone who struggles with the flies in their house, the curtain is definitely an answer!
I love this. It was put up on the outside of the back door with the screws provided, directly into the wall above the double glazed door. Then it slips on and off for summer and winter. It’s aluminium so could stay up I guess but I will take it down once the sun has completely finished. I like to hear the little jangle as I move it. But it definitely keeps the flies out. I only had 1 fly come into the kitchen all summer, usually loads because I like my door open all day. You can remove some of the chains if your door is short/long, wide/narrow, very easily. Excellent value for money. Couple of negatives; the edge of the bar is sharp so care when handling. Also in accessories it would help if there was a hook for the side (like curtain tiebacks) so you can tie it to the side for ease in and out if you are carrying something.
Used self Tapping screws to fix to upvc frames instead of the supplied rawlplugs ,very simple to fit due to keyholes and so very easy to remove for storage. I have every confidence that they will effectively reduce the number of flies entering the conservatory but time will tell.
I recently purchased the flyscreen for a family member.
The first thing I noticed, how light it was, (chain links), as i bought one same kind, many years ago, on ebay around the 75 mrk, same ball park figure as this one.
My one is really heavy, and it came with 2 heavy duty steel brackets.
This one, came with 2 light weight L shaped brackets, that you screw into masonry, after drilling and raw plug.
Even though, it’s fitted in a internal wall (porch), it is sufficient to keep out flies and other bugs.
I have mine fitted to a outside door frame, and being a lot heavier, it doesn’t suffer from being blown around, where’s this one, would blow inwards from a breeze.
Very easy to fit, about 5 – 10mins max.
I would recommend this screen, for more internal doors, or where there this a sheltered area, from a breeze.
Really well made. Should last years and years. Easy to install. Good length chains that are easy to shorten. Looks smart. Quality product. And does stop insects.
It’s expensive, once you understand the hanging brackets it’s all good… They quite literally hang and the bar hangs off them…. Once I understood this it was easy
This will hopefully prevent flies from entering my house through the French door in summer. The reason for a five star review without a full ‘in summer’ test, is that my friend has a chain fly screen which works very well and this fly screen was easy to install. I was able to hang it from seven stick on hooks (it’s quite heavy and five wasn’t enough) and shorten the chain by unclipping pieces of it without much difficulty.
We put off buying this for a few years as we considered it to be expensive, but all those cheap alternatives later and we ended up wasting just as much money! We purchased these, fitted them and they’ve been worth their weight in gold! They work really well
Not cheap but does a good job & is good quality. Delivered quickly. Would recommend.
Very pleased with this fly curtain. It was so easy to install and adjust for length and has been very effective in use.
Expensive but worth it!! Strong and sturdy and certainly kept the flying bugs away!!
I don’t write reviews very often but I m so happy with this it’s fantastic
We live in rural South of France and it’s hot in summer not got air conditioning so need to open doors windows to blow through
The flies were unbearable we tried all kinds of things fly papers electric fly zapper etc none of which worked whilst they killed the flys more came in to replace them
This item seemed a bit pricey and some not so positive reviews alongside the good ones but I decided I needed to do something
It arrived promptly and everything in order my husband has recently had an accident and can’t do much so I put it up the screws are a bit long so we had some shorter ones in the shed which were fine 10 mins and it was done !
I am still after 3 week’s amazed at how it works I have no flies at all except the odd one that sneaks in from window upstairs it also helps for the dog to go in and out to leave the door open
I am considering purchasing another one for an upstairs patio window definitely would recommend
Although the screen does the job my cat seems to be frightened of it, we have to pull it apart to ensure that it can come in and out without being frightened. It hung easily and hangs well, it does get tangled at times but easily enough to untangle.
Great looking curtain. Easy to cut to size and fit, although I had to adapt the fixing brackets to suit my particular situation. I fixed them to a upvc door frame and because the aluminium curtain is a lot lighter than the steel versions, they do the job perfectly.
Product as advertised, easy to install and of very good quality
This is a good quality product and arrived well packaged.
Surprisingly weighty even though made of aluminium – but its overall weight does indicate that the gauge of the chains are of decent construction and makes them hang / fall back nicely.
Very easy to fit as just 2 simple multi-purpose / orientation brackets although, as others have mentioned, the holes in the brackets are way oversized and washers are required for any normal screw sizes.
As for the item’s intended purpose – we have not had any flies pass through the screen that we can tell. In the current UK heat wave, most windows are open but there are far less flies in the house since we fitted this screen.
The product seems rather pricey at first sight, but these chain screens used to be a lot more expensive as originally aimed at the commercial catering / food market. We will not be wasting anymore money on the black plastic mesh magnetic closure screens.
Oh, and the chain length is very easily adjusted by simply sliding off links from the bottom end of the chains.
Since fitting this fly screen on 9th June we have never had a fly in the house, we used to be plagued from the minute we opened the door and throughout the day. Yes, it is a lot costlier than the cheap plastic fly screens but this one works! It took the cat some time to get used to entering/leaving the house, possibly due to the noise and it being “shiny”. Fitting was very easy and I wish I’d bought this years ago.
We had tried mesh fly screens in the past but they did not last long.
Whilst not the cheapest option this product is great – easy to adjust size if necessary and easy to fit.
Does the job of keeping flies out whilst also allowing easy access for ourselves and the dogs
Excellent door screen, deters fly etc. Lightweight. Perfect . Good quality
Easy to put up very good at keeping insects out, so much better than cheap flimsy alternatives, might be bit pricey but well worth it!
Great quality and brilliant for keeping out insects well made
Excellent, it looks good up and hangs great and easy to adjust to right level.Excellent service and value for money.
Door fly screen looks good, and does the job. Much better than the mesh ones. Easy to install.
Easy to install and at last I have a fly screen that doesn’t tear or tangle.
This was very easy to install and remove the extra links to ensure it’s the right length.
Does exactly what it’s designed for, can’t believe iv never thought of this before.
We have this on our back garden door which is in the kitchen, we’ve had no flies in the kitchen since putting this up.
Highly recommend for anyone who wants to keep those pesky insects out the house.
advertised at 90 cm – most of mine were short
seller sent a free one to say sorry
Nothing to dislike would recommend purchase to buy to any-one.
Excellent product. Don’t usually review but these are so good. Had a major problem with flies when doors open in conservatory – we’re surrounded by fields – on a hot day regularly hoovering up 100s of flies 2/3 times a day….slightly tarnishing a beautiful day. Tried a number of cheaper products (sonics, fly traps etc) but not with any great success. With warm weather approaching again decided to bite the bullet, and bought two last week. Yes, an expensive outlay but absolutely worth the money. Arrived next day, fitted within an hour (not a natural DIYer), no problem. Used nano tape and 1″ screws/rawl plugs, the ones included were too long for the location. And Hey Presto! The doors have been open all day several times since fitting and not had to Hoover once! Problem solved. They also look attractive, and don’t block the view. Think it is the shimmering of the light that keeps the flies away as much as being a barrier. An additional plus is that if it is breezy/windy they act as a windbreak. Also bought two metal tie backs for when not in use, perfect (superglued the curtains together so they don’t slide). If you’re OK with the price, our experience is this will solve your fly problem.
I ordered 3 fly screens of this design, a Vermatec Genuine at 74.99, a Shoze Door fly screen at 40.99 and this one ” Fly Blind Screen Chain Curtains for Door” at 65.99
The 65.99 one was made of much lighter weight chain than the other two. I weighed the other two and there was no difference in weight and they are all the same design so the Shoze is by far the best value. Have kept two and returned 65.99 one.
Comments on blinds getting tangled, I think are from people somehow expecting too much. Ours occasionaly don’t fall free but a gentle shake is all it takes to sort them up. If people are finding them getting seriously knotted I just don’t know what they must be doing. We have a three year old who, for 6 months, has been crashing through and finding them great fun to play around with. We have had no problems and she must be as good a test as any.
On the big question – Do they work?
Sorry folks, we put ours up just as summer cooled down and while we didn’t have many flies get into the kitchen there were a lot less about. Going on the fact commercial premises use them I reckon they must have some effect.
It’s been great, sometimes they chains get attached to each other but no problem
Nice curtain, just 210cm from very top of header to very bottom of longest chains (lengths are uneven). Wasn’t keen on fitting brackets which were visible above rail and unsuited to a narrow top of door. Fortunately we were able to adapt these. Seems to work as a fly screen but late in year by time it was installed.
I saw this screen at a friend’s house who recommended it. It was easy to put in place and I have not had a fly in my kitchen since. I do get the odd wasp as I think they are cleverer than flies and they always find a gap which is why I have not given the thickness 5 stars. My little dogs find the chains easy to get through which is good and the screen does not make my kitchen dark.
Easy to fit. (Needed shorter screws to fit to wooden door frame). Extra links are easy to remove to shorten the screen.
A godsend for a very hot August.
I like the fact that the product works and at a price which I consider to be reasonable
These must be the best thing I’ve bought to keep the flys out the house
Easy to adjust length
Doesn’t appear to be rusting so far
Links not small enough. I’ve actually watched flies negotiate the links to get in and out again. So a bit disappointing for the price but as I say has helped a bit. It’s also good for privacy whilst allowing a breeze into the house.
Having bought several door curtains over the years that haven’t been any good I’m delighted to say that this one, although expensive, does an excellent job.
I have looked for years for a good fly screen and I’ve finally found it. A good product that works superbly and looks and feel great as well. Nice and solid construction certainly not a cheaply made one. It hangs well and doesn’t tangle. Has a nice relaxing shimmery sound in the breeze. I’m in shielding (so no one to help me fix it up) I’m only 4’10” and nearly 70 and couldn’t fix the brackets up. I improvised and used 2 strong white cable-ties ( they you can hardly see) as a temporary measure, WORKS BRILLIANTLY and very strong. A tad over priced is my only beef, but great otherwise.
excellent best ever buy keeps the flys out no more flys happy happy happy
Very good. Looks good and does as it says it will do.
I used on my back door. Arrived sooner than expected. Easy to install. Definitely worth the money. Well made. I would definitely recommend.
The product was easy to assemble, no need for screws etc. Very easy to cut to size, works well, we can have our doors open all day and no worries about wasps and flies getting in to the house
Looks very expensive and of good quality. Easy to fi
This really does keep flies out of the house. I didn’t expect it to be a thing of beauty, I expected to hate the look of it, but in fact you can see the garden through it, I wouldn’t be without it!
This is our second one as the first one was out on our conservatory was great.
It arrived very quick delivery, again easy to put up this time in our porch
We always have the doors of our conservatory open so our cat can get it and out so, unsurprisingly a lot of bees, wasps, flies and other flying creatures find their way in this sunny space. I have therefore been looking for an insect screen for some time but couldn’t quite find what I wanted-until I saw this one, that is. It arrived promptly and, luckily our conservator has a ledge at the top of the doors which enables me to hang the metal piece that hold the chains to it, so my husband doesn’t even have to drill any holes when the doors are wide open. I will of course get him to do the work so we can hang it up when the doors are only partially open but for the moment this works for us. Having had it up for only 2 beautiful sunny days I am delighted with the result as we haven’t had a single fly or bee enter the conservatory. Not one! The curtain of chains looks beautiful in the sunshine and the individual loops are easy to take off or attach back on the adjust the length. It’s so much nicer than those horrible plastic ones. And our cat can still easily get in and out through the chains without any problem. Would highly recommend to anyone seeking to keep flying insects out.
This is a good quality product and was installed with ease. This looks great and has so far survived the kids!
Worth noting the installation instructions are non existent but to easy to install. The screws provided are for brick and mortar walls only but installation didn’t take very long into a conservatory.
We thought as the company had a UK address and that it was a little more expensive than the other dozen or so alternatives on Amazon that it was because it’s made in the UK but product is made in China.
We have used several types of fly screens our kitchen door and although this was more expensive, it is proving to be far better at keeping flying insect out of the house. Also, it is quite attractive, unlike the mesh netting varieties that require you to place velcro strips around the door frame.
Quality product, worth that we bit extra. Used at back door to keep the insects out. Easily customised to your requirements both width and length. Delighted with my purchase.
Excellent. I have sent for another one. It looks good.
We bought the chain fly screen last year and had no fly’s in, even though we have two dogs running in and out all day they are great so we ordered another two sets for the patio doors, could not recommend enough
Fantastic fly screen used all last summer not one fly got in brilliant buying another for my front door this summer you get what you pay for and this is fantastic for keeping fly’s and bugs out .
Strong and sturdy construction, heavy enough to hang true and not get tangled but light enough to handle, mount and remove
I run a business from home selling Raw Dog food that kept in freezers in the garage. For ventilation I keep the garage side door open but flies are a real pain. This has solved the issue completely and it looks good. Easy to put up and take down.
product very good, easy to fix and just the right length, also does a good job of keeping flies out from back door.
wow have spent tons of money over the years trying to find a good door curtain and finally saw this which id seen a few times but thought was expensive but now I’ve took the plunge and bought this door curtain its fantastic ,no flies in my kitchen excellent and looks great too definitely worth the price as i’m sure it will last a long time too
I used this product to keep flies out of the house. I am delighted to say that apart from the odd insect its been 99% improvement.
Excellent fly curtain, arrived quick and easy to put up above door in conservatory. Like other customers used smaller screws than the ones supplied! Looks great and not a single insect has got through, perfect.
I have two of these now. Chains are quite heavy and stay in place when a bit breezy not flying all over the place as lighter ones are inclined to do
It’s getting warmer, and whilst I quite like the door being open my wife has an aversion to flies, bluebottles, and wasps. . .
We’ve tried the plastics flappers, and the beaded tanglers and they don’t actually work .
As butchers use these (or something similar) I had to bite the bullet in the interest of fresh air and no wife hysterics.
I quick drill later , the item is up door open , and yet to have a single insect in the house . . . Granted it’s only been a week.
If you get over the price for an item that will only be used occasionally and only expect it keep out flies then Bob is your fathers brother.
My wife is now worried about burglars and leaving the door open when she potters around the house or garden , so I now need a cunning scientist to adapt my fly screen to an electric fence. . . We will also need a couple of pliers which it can detect as we try to enter or exit without getting tasered. . If you know of such a scientist point him in the direction of this review and I’ll cut him in on the action after my patent clears . . .
I have already ordered and used this fly screen in my conservatory and it is a god send. I no longer get unwanted guests flies wasps bees butterflies so I order another for one of my other doors
his fly screen is much better than the flimsy magnetic clip type, it looks good, was easy to fit and does the job nicely. The cat wasn’t too keen on it at first and just sat outside looking sad, but she has it worked out now and even likes walking through it.
Works well and as we imagined. heavier chain in is more effective
Best things ever invented. We are no longer bothered by wasps/flies etc… it is so much better to be able to keep the door open in the evenings. Well worth the money would definately recommend.
Not the best for bungalows. Had to make a bracket to install. The included brackets would be too close to the bricks edges for drilling
I can find no fault with the fly screen, it is brilliant, looks great and does what its supposed too. Easy to assemble ,to shorten and to install . Just thought it was a little expensive. Would definitely recommend it.
Have put this over my kitchen door. Easily fixed. Easy to remove at the end of the summer. Put up about one month ago and have had two flies in so far, but as the weather has been so cold not sure how many flies are about At the moment. Does get jammed in the bottom of the door sometimes.
This product is excellent and have no hesitation in recommending it. It fits the doorway perfectly, easy to fit and it keeps flying insects from entering which is what we wanted. Does not tangle.
Wish I had bought one years ago! Easy to fit and adjust to the correct length. The chains do not blow out in the breeze, easy to walk through and do not get tangled up. The dogs, cats and grand children have had no problems with them either. MOST IMPORTANTLY – NO FLIES IN THE HOUSE.
Great product, very easy to shorten to fit. Within minutes of delivery, it was up and functional. For years we regularly bought bamboo or beaded curtains which, because they were a standard size, got caught in the door and fell to pieces within weeks. This looks like it will stand the test of time.
Absolutely love this, it was Super easy to put up, now I did not use the screws that came with it as they were huge, I have a wooden strap above the doors for curtain rails so attached it to that with smaller screws. It took me less than 10 mins from opening the box being done. I’ve only had it a couple of days but not one flying pest has entered the house since installing it. It looks great, sparkles a bit in the sun, and jingles a little in a breeze. It doesn’t tangle either.
Purchased this product after a number of years deliberating whether the cost was warranted having used a number of cheap but practically useless alternatives. What totally swayed our opinion was realising that our local traditional butcher friend, whom we have traded with for many years, has them in his shop doorway and never have we ever seen a fly in his shop! Takes a little getting use to when meeting people on the doorstep but their application means we can have the door open for fresh air in the summer without any insects venturing into the house.
Easy to fit, we purchased the item ready made-up, just be cautious when closing the door to ensure the chains are not trapped; put it up in the spring, take it down in the autumn A great long lasting product whose initial cost will pay dividends in the future, first class product.
No flies – work really well – easy to fit and cut width if necessary. Recommend – they look attractive and do not hide the view of the garden. Really pleased with produc
Heavyweight, well made fly screen. Kept flies out all summer. Wasn’t cheap but I’m sure it will last years so I think it was good value.
No hesitation in recommending it .
Purchased this flyscreen to stop flying insects from entering the house through the rear door which opens onto the garden, found it easy to fit, taking about 10min and adjusting the length is simple. The weight of the links helps it fall into shape quickly after passing through, doesn’t get tangled up, it’s expensive but well worth it, I would definitely recommend this screen and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another in the future.
This fly screen has been brilliant. Nothing comes through it. Been great in the hot weather just leaving the back door open and not worrying about flys and wasps coming in. In the past I’ve had the magnetic fly screens. They are not a patch on these. By the end of summer they look shabby and have to be chucked. This fly screen will last for years and also looks good.
We were getting so many flies in our kitchen and dining room, and could never leave any food out. We tried the magnetic screens but they never worked very well. Then we got the Vermatik and the flies disappear. The screen is attractive, we can see through it, it is easy to walk through, and it is easy to roll up and put away for the winter. We are totally happy
Came ready to assemble as needed was to hang off of the door think I can count on one hand the amount of flies have had in the last 6 weeks it’s fantastic.
It certainly appears to keep out the flies at the moment.
It looks good and appears that it will last forever.
My dog was not too keen on it at first. It rattles a bit, but I persevered and tied it open a little bit for a few days and then gradually made the gap smaller and smaller until he got used to it.
Perfect for keeping the flying things out though the summer months, and easy to cut to suit any size door. Chains are Aluminium and very light weight and don’t flap when the wind blows like a ribbon curtain would.
Would recommend this product to everyone.
The screen arrived on time and was well packed. The screen is very good at keeping the flies out of the kitchen.
The stands were more than long enough and easy to adjust to the length required.
however being aluminium are light weight.
The only downside was the mounting brackets which were not easily hidden and the holes are much larger than the screw heads. Easily fixed with washers but it would have been nice to receive screws that fitted.
Having spent loads in the past on inferior products this is not expensive! Easy to put up (8mm masonry drill) and it works, should last for years if liked after.
