Professional Black Cobalt Hair Shears
High Quality Adjustable Handle
The handle of these scissors can be adjusted easily by removing the finger inserts and adding or removing the finger rest. This can be done by unscrewing the finger rest in an anti-clockwise motion. The finger inserts can be pushed out and put back in depending on the comfort of the user.
Soft closing action
The scissors have a small stopper between the two finger handles, this creates a soft closing action when being used. This soft rubber stopper helps to reduce hand fatigue and unnecessary nose from using these shears.

Adjustable blade tension
Kobaruto shears come with an adjustable blade tension key. This key can adjust the stiffness of the blade, making the blade looser or tighter. As a general rule the blade should open/close half way when held horizontally, opened fully and the top handle left to drop closed. If the blades get loose or are cutting less efficient all you need to do is adjust the blade tension and the will perform as new again.
Kobaruto Case
Every pair of professional Kobaruto shears scissors come with a beautifully designed case to keep them safe and secure when not being used. The case has adjustable metal flaps to secure the scissors inside the case to stop them moving around if you need to transport them, preventing any damage coming to them.

I used them today and I can’t say there’s anything wrong with them.
They cut the hair fine, I wouldn’t say they’re VERY sharp, I’m interested to see how long they last. They’re just sharp enough.
Maybe I’m lucky because I see a lot of negative reviews.
They’re a little thicker than sleek, but this don’t bother me.
They have a unique ‘clicking’ tension right that holds them together.

On arrival, the scissors are beautifully presented in their box, already looking very high quality and professional. It also comes with a cleaning cloth and an adjustment key.
The scissors themselves look very stylish, they have removable finger inserts and removable finger rest, so it’s more flexible to suit each user. I found the finger inserts to be too small for me, especially on the thumb. I would say the product isn’t suitable for anyone with large hands. I had to remove them, which was fine to use for the duration of cutting the hair, but I do feel like the inserts would have given an extra level of comfort.
In terms of cutting/sharpness, these scissors are fantastic. They can glide through and chop hair effortlessly, but you’d definitely expect this level of quality for the price they sell for.

When I opened the leather case for the scissors, it reminded me of opening fine jewelry. The case is presented like a fine piece of artwork or precision instrument. The box says Made in Japan.
What I love about these cobalt scissors:
— They are razor sharp.
— Excellent blade adjustment mechanism.
Initially it comes a bit loose from the factory so I tightened it a few notches. The adjustment nut clicks when it is rotated, so it easy to set the precise, perfect friction between the blades. This is the feature that sets these apart from my other professional shears.
Here are some photos of the cobalt, blue cobalt, and this black cobalt model. This black one actually looks very sleek (looks much better in person). The black cobalt is my favorite color option (different than what I initially thought I would like, just based on the product description photos).
The company is based in the UK, and I can see a UK address for their headquarters, but I don’t see an address for where these are manufactured in Japan. I hope these are truly Made in Japan. It has the feel like they are.

We’re not pros around here but getting lots of practice with haircuts at home during this most unexpected time of Covid. We ordered the 7 inch black cobalt model and they cut like a dream. Ideal for medium long hair and stunningly engineered. They come in a gift worthy presentation box, too. Masterful!

The scissors arrived in a very pretty box but the Kobaruto scissors were absolutely stunning. You can tell they are made of high quality. Not a flaw on those scissors, from the weight, the feeling and of course they are super sharp.
