Good quality clippers, makes giving the dog a ‘hair cut’ much easier.

I bought these Wahl clippers to update my old Wahl clippers thinking the design might now be able to cope with curly Cockerpoo hair. I need to clear the hair from the teeth for every stroke. So while it is easy to use and robust, I’m not sure it is value for money.

The blades cut our dogs thick woolly coat really well and he looked far tidier than when we used a different version of the clippers

Our dog is looking neat and tidy

I bought these to groom my miniature poodle, and they work pretty well. I can’t get very far with the combs provided so I don’t use them, but the clippers themselves do a good job. Can feel a little bit heavy, and the cable affects the balance a bit, but the keep going unlike battery powered clippers and seem to be a good quality item. D

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersUsed on a very overgrown standard poodle coat, very impressed. The grooming wasn’t great but that was down to me not the clippers. Really surprised how well they went through this very curly and occasionally matted coat.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThese are well made, strong dog clippers. I find them a bit too heavy but am an elderly female. We have a Poochon and they were fine for her body coat but too heavy and cumbersome for her legs. We are not trained groomers however and with practice will probably get better at using them. I would say they are well worth the money and in more experienced hands would be very good.

I read so many reviews trying to find the right clippers for our dog and was left frustrated and confused so I contacted Wahl for their recommendation. Im glad I did as these are superb clippers, low vibrations make it better for the dog and reduces fatigue in users arm, very effective at clipping a thick poodle coat without any snagging, low noise makes it a calm experience for the dog, clipped a Standard Poodle without any problems with clippers getting hot. highly recommended

    Good product
Maybe a cordless / bit smaller one would be better
    But good value for money

As the owner of one very dirty, scruffy cockerpoo, I got these clippers to help save money in between goinbg to the proper groomers as it’s almost every two to three months now.
On opening the box, it comes with oil, a little comb and two clipper head sizes. I would describe the unit as quiet, not that it matters as I don’t tend to groom my dogs at 11pm. My dog is quiet nervous in nature but doesn’t mind these at all, she just sits on the table while I hack away as best I can.

I recommend these for overall upkeep, they definitely can’t deal with any serious matting, but they work perfect for maintaining my dog’s short length during the summer after she’s had a good professional cut to get rid of any major matting. It saves me going to the groomers every 3 months so now she only goes twice a year.

Premium home machine, robust, quiet, powerful. Clipped my Lagotto puppy short. Lagotto has a dense “wool”-like hair, which many machines struggle with. While a 3 mm attachment is useful, I opted for bare metal which is just under 3mm when adjusted. Now that was something – I had pleasure clipping for the first time. My previous attempts with other home models were a lot of struggle on my hairy beast goldendoodle.

Simple trimmer. Cuts well for what it is. The casing however is just some cheap plastic with no housing for all the bits to keep them secure, But not a bad product and does the job!

I had a dog grooming friend of mine come over and show me how to groom my collie. She was immediately impressed with the trimmers and uses the same brand herself. They are quiet and did not disturb the dog but he wasn’t happy with them near his ears but I was told that’s normal. Although they are ergonomic and reasonably lightweight they do get heavier as we went on but I do have problems with my hands.

The lead length is good and they come in a good robust carry case for storage. Having had my lesson with these I will carry on with the sort of tidy up grooming we did, particularly around toes, backside and hocks. They were very sharp cutting quickly and cleanly and would imagine ideal for dogs with hairy faces who might get distressed with clippers near their eyes etc. although I haven’t used them enough to know yet I was told they will blunt somewhat after about a year of occasional clipping of my dog, hers blunt several times a year and she has them re-ground for about 25 from Wahl. There are online videos to sharpen yourself but I think I’ll be leaving those!

This is a very solidly built item and pretty much industrial quality. Our working English springer Spaniel has a very thick coat but these clippers do get right through the layers.

This was my first time using some pet clippers and it went okay.
The clipper comes in a fairly large plastic carrying case and he actual clipper is reasonably study and well produced.
It wasn’t that noisy ( wasn’t super quiet though) and there was a certain amount of vibration. These did the job. There wasn’t a huge amount of thickly matted fur to cut though. It did take a while but generally it was quite a straightforward task.

The Rex 1230 is one of Wahl’s mid range clippers, as the price point suggests. It comes with 2 different combs to alter the length of cutting and oil for the blade plus a brush to clean it, all included in a plastic case.

First things first, the case is nice in that it keeps all the parts in one place with more space for further combs. However, it doesn’t have sections, it’s just one big space so everything jiggles around inside there. I’m sure it would be easy to create some sort of border so that the clipper could be stored safely, separate from the rest of the stuff, but all the Wahl clippers seem to be the same here,

The clippers themselves are easy to use and don’t vibrate too much, certainly less than the paw print ones I used last. The sound level isn’t too bad either. They’re by no means silent, but they don’t make a huge noise and my Shih Tzu wasn’t phased by them. With or without the combs, they did catch a few times on the hair compared to the KM2 model, but they cut well with an even trim (tested after our dog was washed and dried).

I have never owned dog clippers before i have always sent them to the groomers but thought i would give it a go.

You get a very nice hard case to keep everything in and inside you get the clippers, 2 combs, oil, a brush and instructions.

Quite strangely the plug is circular, i have never come across this before so thought i would mention it.

The clippers are super easy to use, there is a nifty function using the lever to allow you to flip a locking switch and then choose 5 preset trimming levels which i found very handy although i kept pressing the lever by accident as you almost think its the power lever.

Got through my collies fur no issues at all and this is going to save me a fortune in grooming costs, although i think it might me smart for me to go to a dog grooming class before doing it properly as i only gave her a short trim, i was too afraid i was going to take too much off.

I think it would be wise for anyone considering buying this to attend an introductory dog grooming course 1st as it would be very easy to cause damage to your dog.

    Otherwise recommended.

This dog clipper comes in a handy plastic carrying case that is useful for storing the clipper tool and accessories. Included are two additional comb attachments for dogs with thicker or longer coats, lubrication oil, a small cleaning brush, a blade guard, and instruction booklet. A lever on the side of the clipper tool adjusts cutting length for short-haired breeds. This is not unlike similar devices sold for cutting human hair, and works in much the same way. However, it is quieter in operation, and vibrates less than the similar clippers I have to cut my own hair. It has a mains lead of reasonable length, but I also used an extension lead, to allow more flexibility when moving around the dog.

My dog is short-haired, and used to being groomed by a professional. So he took little notice of these, when I used them to clip an area of his fur.If your own pet is similarly manageable, and easy to wash too, you could save money on grooming fees by using these yourself. Demonstration videos are available online to help anyone who might be reluctant to attempt the task themselves.

Wahl Rex 1230 Multi Cut Pro Pet Clipper

We have a Poodle cross who gets professional grooming but in-between we use Wahl clippers to trim off wispy bits and any matting. We also use clippers to trim our ponies whiskers with.

This is Wahls basic dog grooming clipper.

    In the box.
    ————–
The main clipper, two length adjusters, cleaning brush and oil, website link instructions (also basic instructions on the box). Polycarbonate storage box.

    Using.
    ——–
This is just like any other clipper, choose your length coombe and off you go. The unit has a leaver on the side for fine adjustment of the cut depth. This does take a bit of getting used to but it allows greater control and shaping.
The online video link is quite good and gives you an idea of how to groom a dog.

    Ergonomics.
    —————–
The shape of the cutter is well designed and easy to hold and balance. It is easy to control and manoeuvre through the hair. The powerful motor helps with this and the whole unit fits well into the hand and balances very well.

    Noise and vibration.
    —————————
The unit makes a low hum when on and does vibrate a fair amount especially on thick hair. For us this is not a problem as out dog is very good at sitting still and not taking much notice! This unit is no nosier or vibrates any more than any of the other Wahls units e have. The motor in this unit is much more powerful than our other and older Wahls cutter we have.

    Overall.
    ———–
A good solid unit for dog clipping and maintenance. I would have liked to see a few more different length cutting combes in the box as with only 2 it limits the usability of this unit for intricate use. The lever fine adjuster takes a bit of getting used to but is very useful once mastered.
Overall these are well made good basic clippers for coat maintenance.

This is only the second pet clippers I have used, so I’m a bit of of a novice; but I have to say I prefer these to my existing ones.

They are efficient trimming a Cavalier’s coat, except for the long feathery fur on the leg which required a longer comb attachment than was supplied.
The reason I don’t use clippers very often, is that my dog is very nervous of them; so I thought these would be ideal as they were said to be quiet. I wouldn’t agree with this as they were no quieter than my old ones, so it was just as difficult trying to trim the pooch.

For someone with not such a nervous dog, these would be ideal, as they indeed, work well; but as soon as I turned them on my dog bolted into his basket.

For the price, I would have expected a larger selection of comb attachments, but that aside, this is a quality product and is comfortable and easy to use. It also has an adjustable cutting length for those whose dogs have shorter fur and the attachment comb isn’t required.

Recommended for those with laid-back dogs!
