The Switch version is stunning, it’s not just a remaster – it’s been largely redone, textures, polygons, music re-recorded, the whole lot and it is absolutely gorgeous.
Gameplay wise it’s the same JRPG that was brilliant what, 10 years ago?
I like JRPGs so have played a bunch. This was a great game- storyline was excellent, and DID have you guessing about what would happen next/take place, which can’t be said for a lot of JRPGs. The gameplay mechanics are nice as well, and they’ve implemented positional gameplay where your position relative to the enemy actually makes a difference- eg. some attacks deal more damage if you’re on the side of the enemy, some deal more if you’re round the back. The only thing lacking to me is the animation. Seeing the characters move in things like cutscenes is almost a joke with had badly it’s been done. The graphics themselves aren’t necessarily bad, as long as you’re talking about the enemies and scenery, and animation during fights was fine. If you can get pass that though, the game itself is brilliant, and I definitely recommend. All the other aspects of the game are good enough, that I haven’t docked the review to a 4/5 despite the cutscene animations.
This game is probably one of my most favourite RPG games of all time. Im so unlucky I never had a chance to play this when it came out for the Nintendo Wii, I missed out on such a decent rpg based game. Thankfully I brought the Definitive Edition for the Switch, and by god its super amazing and makes me even more wished I owned it for the Nintendo Wii.
Im currently 50hrs into the game and just reach chapter 10, there are 17 chapters in this game, giving you a massive story and tones of areas to explore to your hearts contempt. 99% of the time, if you see it you can reach it. This allows players to roam around and explore new landmarks in areas, allowing you to get side-tracked on how beautiful this game is. Many landmarks or places in areas have high level monsters that out rank your current level, this is so redeeming when you reach that said level to come back later on to take them on, certain quests lead to moments like these, and its rewarding.
Speaking about quests there are 400 quest in the game and those dont include the main story quest, this is what I love from rpg games, the additional quests you pick up, timed quests that you come across and post story quests. Quest in this game helps you a lot, you earn decent amount of EXP and money from doing them, and most of the time you can complete them so quick as you pick up so many items from just exploring alone. I would recommended doing these quests, it will help you so much. If you do quest from nameless npc the quest is completed right there, but if its from a named npc there is a lot of back and forth talking, not too bad but some quest open up more quests and Ive spend so much time focusing on side quests then the main story.
Item in this game and the equipment you use varies on the character your using, you can pretty much play to your skill liking without being too competitive, this allows you to enjoy the game without worrying to much on grinding. Gems boost stats on armour or weapons, another thing good about the game. I love trying different gems on characters and experiment with them in battle, endless fun. Chain attacks are another thing I love and having good affinity between the party increases the chain attack, another useful move to take down strong enemies.
Overall you’d spend hours exploring, and find new ways to battle leading to endless hours. Perfect for players who enjoy RPG, new comers will also love this and its a perfect game to begin with. Play by how you want to play is how all rpg games should be. And considering this is a DE of the original, they did an amazing job recreating it and adding new menus and stuff that the original lacked, really helps.
This is a really good game. A solid remaster/remake of the original Wii game. It has a lot of added Quality of Life improvements which make the game a much better overall experience. The game and GUI has had a lovely modern coat of print, making it look like a game made today, not a game with years of age. The gameplay is fun, the story is compelling and the cast of characters are charming. But let me stress, the story contains themes which are NOT suitable for kids. This is a PEGI 12, do not buy it for your 6 year old!
This is game is amazing. Without a doubt, it has by far some of the best music, characters, and stories in any video game. It felt like a different game each area that was explored and gave me a fantastic experience overall! I highly recommend to someone who is into JRPGs, exploration, and up for a challenge.
Incredible game, at least 50 hours in the main story, around 100 hours of content, maybe more. Then the extra story is at least 10hr bonus epilogue. 10/10
Excellent JRPG much better than 2. Really glad to see that Nintendo went ahead and ported this. Just know that this game is really long so if you don’t have the time then you may want to reconsider.
Positives
– Way smoother graphics than the Wii version, its like night and day, my biggest issue with this game used to be the horrible aliasing, that’s all gone, the game is now sharp with great anti aliasing
– Its still my second favorite RPG of all time, second to breath of the wild
– Controls with the pro controller is better than the wii
– Portability option
I’m only a few hours in but, I like it. The graphics aren’t that great though. This is one of those games that actually looks better in Handheld mode. Controls well, fast shipping, and has a brilliant storyline. If you like RPGs then this is one of the best on the Switch.
Great! The product came brand new and of course, sealed! I recommend it to everyone who wants to buy, play and be thrilled with this adventure! Worth every penny!
Games I’ve enjoyed: Skies of Arcadia, Tales of Symphonia, the original Kingdom Hearts, jade empire, and was highly addicted to RuneScape when I was younger.
The game requires some time to progress.
For example, within the first area you can spend 5 to 10 hours finishing side quests / playing around with the gem system that like other RPG’s give a bonus to strength : agility / so forth to maximize character’s strength
It’s dumb to read a review, better to watch a let’s play online and you’ll know if you like the game or not.
The only real complaint is that Nintendo’s systems that support this game are always behind graphically to the point that I wish the switch had different versions.
I would pay significantly more money to have a higher end Switch to support better graphics and even a smoother frame rate.
Also, I work 7 days a week for Campbell Soup keep in mind I work 7:20 PM to Am everyday.
With that said, my experiences are limited to the switch light and not having the enjoyment of playing this game docked.
To fully enjoy a game like this is to enjoy a game that requires grinding.
It’s satisfying to go through the motions of earning money, collecting the parts to make stronger gems, etc.
Just the crafting involved in gems is random which means you may not get the level of gem desired.
If you don’t have much patience, probably not an ideal game.
This is great game, I ask question and get the correct answer from the seller, which the UK version support chinese subtitle. So I am able to fully enjoy the story and I am loving it! Thank you!
If you like JRPG or RPG’s then you will love this!!
I started playing the second one first and right off the bat the English voice-overs are weird it just sounds off so then I done a quick google and from what I read from the fan base, you have one side of them saying play it in Japanese with the English subtitles there is no other way to play.
Then on the other side of the fan base saying play with the English dubbed version and they all give there reasons on why you/we/I should play it Japanese or English dubbed.
I switched out between the two to see which I perfected and I decided to just stick it out with the English dubbed and it’s one of them ones where it kind of grows on you like the voice-overs and the way they say certain words at first YES it is odd but it’s kinda adds charm to it it’s really strange to try and explain it and on the bonus side it saves you having to read all the time.
I’m only on chapter 11 or 12 and I’m like 130+ but I’m one of the people who has to do everything I can in an area before I move on so that’s why my hours are what they are so high.
But don’t let the hours put off because there all side quests and you don’t have to do them.
And Lastly I hope you enjoy the game like I am and the game has so much charm it’s amazing!
I’d never played the previous version of this on the Wi, although I have played Xeno 2 and its prequel Torna on the Switch. This is an excellent JRPG with a complex and involving plot, and lots of action. You can play it in various modes, including “casual” (i.e. easy or allegedly so). For people who like this kind of game, it’s a must. Nice story, characters, and remarkable graphics for the Switch. The final enemy is too hard (which people have complained about on message boards so it wasn’t just me), and involves a real spike of difficulty which is frustrating after 35+ hours of play, but that was its only fault in my view.
Just finished the game, and wow. Having waited 10 years since it’s original Wii release, it more than worth the wait. Amazing title; as casual as you looks or a deep, deep JRPG customisation.
Wow. My first ever Xeneoblade and boy oh boy I am not disappointed. The game is gorgeous, music is just… Aaahhh bliss, our heroes are lovable and you are behind them 100%. I am in love, been playing over 40hrs and I just crave for more. The concept and story is so believable and the scale of the game is just wow. The developers done such a fantastic job on this. My only downside is the combat is difficult if you do not pay attention to the tutorials and I’ve changed my button mapping to play more comfortably. I just gotta say this is definitely one of my top 5 JRPGs. If you are a fan of JRPGs you must play it. Trust me on this.
Just completed the game and absolutely loved it. I missed out on the Wii and 3DS version I purchased and never got round to.
I was on the fence about starting this as I always hear how big of a game it is. Which yes, it is pretty big, but a very enjoyable experience from start to finish.
The added casual difficulty was a welcome addition and highly recommended for those who want a more relaxed experience without any worry about getting the battle system correct.
As for the graphics, I’m not a graphics “snob” like some and I thoroughly enjoyed the visuals. That said I did only play on handheld mode and personally didn’t encounter any bad frame rates.
Absolutely fantastic game that provides the player with a huge amount of content (a 100 percent playthrough hits well over 100 hours and 50 or so hours for just the core story speeding through it) the story is superb, graphics are unbelievable the scope and size of the world is felt with every view you take in and every step you take. The soundtrack is a thing of beauty also and I personally like the English voice cast however I do know that you can set it to the Japanese cast if you so desire (me being a Doctor Who fan enjoyed hearing past companion Jenna Coleman voice one of the key characters). The game also includes a second epilogue story at the end which offers more story at around 20 hours total play time and new combat mechanics to tie up any last minute lose ends.
All round a very good title and a must have for JRPG fans and gamers on the Switch alike.
This game quickly became one of my top 3 favourite games to my favourite game of all time I recommend this to anyone I have put in around 50 hours into it and I don’t think I’ll be stopping anytime soon if your on the fence wondering whether to get the is game or not I assure you it is 100% worth i
Having played Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for more hours than I care to mention I was over the moon when I heard than this was coming to the Switch. I haven’t played this one before despite hearing so much good about it.
This certainly does deliver on the good part. I’m about 20 hours in and I’m having a really good time of it. The battle system is like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 but different enough to give new players a fresh challenge. I’m genuinely intrigued to see what happens in the story and the landscapes are absolutely breathtaking. In some ways I’m glad I’m not working at the moment. I suppose lockdown does have its perks… 🙂
My first Xenoblade game, it is a masterpiece and every Switch owner should play this gem. Its so unique and with 100+ hours needed to complete the game it represents excellent value.
This series of games are fantastic. The way they blend traditional JRPG elements and add a spice of MMORPG is unique and makes the experience very fun.
I’ve put over 200 hours in to Xenoblade Chronicles 2, so there wasn’t a single reason i wasn’t going to play the first in the series.
I’ve played about 15 hours so far and i’m really feeling it!
It’s a perfect game for trying, especially if you’ve ever wanted to play an MMO but prefer single player games.
You can form your own party with allies you meet along the way, and each character has their own style and traits. You have characters that act as tanks (Reyn), damage dealers (Shulk) and healers (Sharla).
The great thing is you can also control any of the characters you want, so if you wanna feel like a knight/paladin, controlling all the hate so monsters focus on you, then Reyn is the one for you. Shulk is a great rogue/damage dealer and has multiple postitional attacks for greater effect and debuff attacks, and Sharla is a blend of ranger and healer. There are plenty more characters i haven’t met yet so i’m excited to see what party formations are going to be the most effective and fun.
The story has been enjoyable so far, and i’m looking forward to uncovering more of the mystery of the Monado, and hopefully more on Mechonis and Bionis (the two giant titans that all life live on), and the Mechon in general.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s story ramped up to another level during the last few chapters and blew me away, and i keep seeing people say this game is much better story wise, so i’m really excited to see how the story plays out.
The games visual upgrade with the character models looks great personally. I like the original art style, but the characters just feel more expressive with their updated designs. The world itself is gorgeous. Yes, sometimes it can look a little blurry due to dynamic resolution, but i can’t blame them when you have a world that’s so large and full of life. You don’t even notice it after a while because you’re so involved with the world and the story. It also didn’t stop me from spending hundreds of hours on XC2.
I highly recommend this game to anyone who is into JRPG’s, or someone who has always been on the fence about trying an MMO because they prefer single player games. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
This game is a masterpiece. I first played it on the Wii years ago and despite the graphics being quite poor it was still an amazing experience.
Now with the upgraded graphics on the switch it is virtually flawless. The new soundtrack is amazing too.
For anyone who hasn’t played Xenoblade before, the story is amazing, it is filled with twists the world is stunning and the characters are all very likable.
Okay so this is my first time playing this game and I can say I am really enjoying it so far good paced story and gets more intense as it goes on I’ve played 15 hours so far and haven’t even touched the service with all the quests involved there is over 100 hours in to the game I am completing the quests as I go along the main story really enjoying the game so far can’t complain cutscenes are brilliant obviously on the dock it is much better to me than handheld but sometimes I get lazy and just stay in bed and play on handheld!! Overall really enjoyable game hopefully it still lives up to the hype as I progress threw the story
Xenoblade chronicles definitive edition has a captivating story with plenty twists and turns to keep players engaged which is accompanied by exiting gameplay which evolves as you progress through the story, the gameplay in the original 2010 wii game was more friendly to newcomers than its sequel from 2017 but still could be quite confusing for newcomers, this for the most part is fixed in definitive edition adding helpful explanations for mechanics and in battle an icon that says chance appears when you should use a move for optimal damage, this feature can be turned off for veteran players though. The music in the original game was fantastic and in definitive edition almost every track has been redone to an arguably better degree, another change is the most obvious compared to the original which is the graphics, in the original game the landscapes were beautiful especially for the hardware the game was using but On the wii some areas would load in things such as trees while walking through the area that is no longer a problem with the added bonus of every area in definitive edition looking stunning, also the great looking area’s in the original game came with A price That being the character models but as well as the graphics being upgraded the characters after ten years can finally show there emotion in the most serious cutscenes. My only complaint about definitive edition would be a few frame drops in the most compact areas.
The return of global recognized masterpiece. 10 years passed in which everyone dreamed of an HD version.
In connection with the TV it has a resolution of 720p. It has fresh bright colors and new polygons of the characters that are more expressive and defined. The music is always exciting and fresh. This was already a masterpiece for a niche of fans today is an established brand. I recommend buying it with Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Unfortunately, compared to the second, it lacks the complexity of the combat system and the beautiful heroines with Pyra and Mytra. There are references and links in both titles.
With “Future Connect” DLC.
Xenoblade Chronicles Future Connect continue the story of Shulk and Melia in a new epilogue. In an area (the Bionis shoulder) which was included in the original but not esporabile and playable, but today reappears in great shape. Today it is the best-selling game in England on all consoles. A great result for Monolith and for Nintendo.
Amazing game. I was a big fan of the original game on the Wii U and this doesn’t disappoint. I’ve played this game for about 12 hours already and I don’t think ill be putting it down anytime soon.
Si te gusta el rpg lo debes de tener en tu colecci
Great game, I highly recommend it. My favorite part is probably the beautiful world to explore. Came in good condition from Amazon.
The game is great. I have played it before on Wii, but it’s amazing on Switch. Graphics are beautiful and the new features are nice additions.
el producto llego en excelentes condiciones, listo para invertir mas de 100hrs de juego
First played on the Wii – it was fantastic
Missed out on the 3DS version
The Switch version is stunning, it’s not just a remaster – it’s been largely redone, textures, polygons, music re-recorded, the whole lot and it is absolutely gorgeous.
Gameplay wise it’s the same JRPG that was brilliant what, 10 years ago?
So worth it, less than 40 – an absolute bargain!
Get it now.

Engrossing story that grabs you in and never let’s go!!
Arrived on time in good condition. The game is exactly what I expected it to be.

Got the product in great condition. It just came a day late.

Es una joya de juego, uno gran rpg. La mejor grafica hace que sea una experiencia nueva y nostlgica.
One of the best rpgs nintendos got. Shame its looked to only nintendo consoles though. If you like final fantasy 12. This has very similar gameplay

I played this on the 3ds years ago
It was my favorite game then . Still us now
Lo tuve en Wii, ame la versin de 3ds y est con los aadidos no poda dejarla pasar, es una maravilla de juego, la msica y estilo de pelea son picos
Great! The product came brand new and of course, sealed! I recommend it to everyone who wants to buy, play and be thrilled with this adventure! Worth every penny!
Can’t recommend it enough.
Visually and musically stunning, great storyline with so many plot twists, game play is fun.
The epilogue brilliantly ties it off.
I am told by my son that this is a good games.
Was good but it is the European version for some reason.
son loves it. Best price anywhere (online & in shops). Delivered quickly

Just as fun as Xenoblade Chronicles 2 but man some of the quests are tedious so anything close to a completion at run is gonna be a hassle

Good game, hours of entertainment. Was delivered a day early 🙂
Amazing, game. Already one of my top 5 Jrpgs. Great music, fantastic storyline and engaging gameplay. It’s a game you never want to end.
