he sound and mechanics of an electronic piano are as close as possible to a classical instrument. full keyboard – 88 keys. This model is not worse than all the more expensive models in terms of quality, it only has reduced functionality and missing legs. This is a perfect value proposition. For children, I recommend buying additional stationary legs from Yamaha, because mobile folding stands are not convenient – they interfere with the legs, they are too high.
+ Guter Klang
+ Gute Haptik
+ Gute Verarbeitung
+ Einige Instrumente zur Auswahl (2x Orgel, Cembalo, Piano, E-Piano, Streicher)
– sehr klobig und schwe
Great piano keyboard, good sound with weighted keys. Only criticism is that the sustain pedal is a bit flimsy..best to replace this
I chose this keyboard because it ticked my boxes. I wanted one that sounded good, with weighted keys and a few voices.
This keyboard is just what I wanted
Got this as a 21st birthday/christmas present. I’ve been learning on it for almost a month now, and it’s fantastic. The weighted keys are great for building finger strength, it has a nice few sound options, but really the default piano is the best sounding, and it comes with an in built metronome so you can practice rhythm.
I think the only negative thing I can say about this keyboard is that the higher notes are really quiet, and it’s quite hard to play higher up in the black notes since the pivot for the keys is up there, so they’re much harder to press. Makes it quite hard to regulate how hard you press if you need to go higher up.
Despite those flaws though, this keyboard is great value for money, and you can’t really get much better at this price range. So if you’re looking to play piano, but want to stay on a budget, then this keyboard is a great choice.
My son needed to upgrade his piano and this should last him from many years to come
We decided to upgrade our Yamaha 61 keys keyboard, after doing much research, we chosen this full range 81 keys one. I definitely recommend the touch sensitive function, even for a beginner, so they can get used to it right from the start. We are impressed with the sound quality, although even at its maximum sound level, it is not that loud. Maybe it is not a bad thing!
The build quality is good, the pedal is included & having a built in music stand is important for us too. I think it is good value especially with a discounted price.
It is big though & heavier than it looks, so a proper wooden stand will be better than the metal foldable ones.
Nevertheless my children really like it & that encourages them to practice more!
I had a Yamaha keyboard that was over 30 years old that I gave to my son. He enjoyed playing it but said there weren’t enough keys.
Saw the reviews and a brand I have purchased before and bought this for my son. He plays nearly every day and has improved so much.
All good the only dislike is the size not a problem if you have the space but we don’t. Purchased a Yamaha bag to protect the piano so piano in the bag is kept in a cupboard. Every time he plays it needs to be taken out then put away.
This was a great upgrade from my basic keyboard – it’s genuinely like a real piano and sounds great. I wanted an electric piano so I could plug headphones in to practice. I’m about to take my grade one exam and this perfect for me as a beginner. My piano teacher has a real Yamaha baby grand and thinks this electric piano is excellent quality for the money!
Excellent product , great value and payment instalments available which are extremely helpful to spread the cost without interes
A great option if you don’t have the space for a real live piano. The tones, touch and feel of this electronic keyboard are very authentic.
I’m a serious keys player and have worked and earned my living as a musician. I’ve played session on various albums so have a clue about what a keyboard should sound like.
I bought this to replace a Roland E60 that I use for choir accompaniment and for rehearsals where I can’t be arsed to lug a Nord Stage plus amp.
It’s great for the money, and is very light so it’s portable and has a decent sound for the money, far better than what something at this price should sound like. The action is nothing like a proper piano, thick and spongey, but it will get you started if you are wanting to get into piano playing.
Once you get into playing, as soon as you can try out a real, proper, breathing piano. A real piano talks back to you.
I like the piano keyboard. I have not had time to use it much yet as I only recently bought it, however I have full confidence as I have a smaller Yamaha keyboard. The weighted keys are nice they make it feel like a real piano with 88 keys. The headphones work well with it so that you can practice without disturbing the neighbours
Was researching a few in this price range. The Casio seemed a little less build quality. I read the Roland developed clicking keys so went for the Yamaha. Really great action and perfect for a beginner.
Purchased for 18th birthday gift.
Very happy with this product.
The feedback from the gift, is positive.
Perfect! Wanted weighted keys as started learning piano again and realised my second hand old banger real piano was really not a good idea to learn on. I had first bought the Roland Go but keys sprung resistance was too strong and clearly not weighted. Did loads of reasearch and considered the Yamaha 125 but my teacher preferred this one because of the ‘Feel’ as she had the 125! So Very happy for now and if I stick at it I’ll upgrade later down the line.
I’m not an expert but as a beginner I’m very happy with this piano. It feels premium and sounds great to me.
I used to have an actual mechanical piano in my family home some 40 years ago so this brings back lots of good memories. The YAMAHA P-45B behaves like an actual, old-school piano, with the right feel (and weight) of keys, and an absolute minimum of gadgets. Rather than having bazzillions of instruments and effects, it adopts minimalistic philosophy: just a small bunch of instruments, a metronome and that’s more or less it. Very natural sounds, great polyphony and huuuuge number of keys make it a pleasure to play on. Definitely recommended for all pianists, no matter starters or professionals.
Great sound quality for the money. Lovely keyboard with weighted keys.
I am not a beginner, so I don’t know how about that. It sounds well. And it also has grand piano mode.
We’ve had this keyboard for 3 years and it has lasted well despite heavy usage from the kids. For a while we were unhappy with it when it had started to buzz when playing several notes, which ruined the listening experience. However, it turned out one of our kids had pushed a piece of Lego inside! Once this was removed it worked well again!
This is a beautiful digital Piano.
Voice quality is amazing and i am loving to play it.
Great option for a beginner who wants to learn how to play the piano.

I’m no expert but took advice from people who have more knowledge and this ticked all the boxes . I’m very pleased and glad it doesn’t have lots of gizmos n gadgets . Sounds good to me – as a beginner – so I’m happy!
Absolute value for money! If you want to learn how to play in a weighted keys, real piano (88keys) then this one is an excellent choice and comes together with a free, 3 month subscription of Flowkey app! If you can, buy the stand as well!
I recommended this piano is really apt for beginners to advanced level.
This is my first upgrade from an electronic keyboard piano. As my playing got better I realised that I needed something a lot more advanced. After a lot of research, I settled for this one and I am very happy with it. I would recommend that you get the Yamaha L85 stand as well. The piano is very heavy and needs a proper stand which also helps make the whole unit look great.
It also came with a 3 month subscription to Flowkey. I use Simply Piano, but the combination of both apps has really helped me to advance even quicker.
The piano arrived a day early in perfect condition and sounds great.
It is replacing an old upright piano which has been very difficult to keep in tune.
It is more than adequate for my use. I am really pleased with it.
This was larger than I expected. I should have known really given its 88 keys – it doesn’t dominate a room like an actual piano though! 😉
Bought for my daughter who is learning and it works really well for that. It’s an investment I suppose as it’s not the cheapest thing in the world but the quality is evident. The keys feel nice and weighted and the sound reproduction is really good (at least to my ear).
Would recommend
Yamaha !
Definitely a great purchase. Worth watching a review video on youtube.
As a beginner/intermediate pianist, I did a tonne of research into various different electric piano models based on their key weighting, number of keys, sound quality, value for money etc. and this one just came up as the all round favourite. It has the full set of 88 keys, graded weighted hammer keys and includes a sustain pedal which I use constantly to get a closer acoustic feel (I definitely think having a sustain pedal is important, and many of the other models I looked at didn’t come with one). If you’re wanting to connect headphones to it, the port in the piano is a 6.35mm jack so I needed to get a headphone adapter for my standard 3.5mm jack headphones. But it’s not expensive to buy, just something to bear in mind.
The weighted hammer keys are a dream, playing lower notes harder and higher notes softer as it would on an acoustic piano. You can play around with different sensitivities in the settings if you want to change this though.
I’m sure to the highly skilled pianists of the Amazon reviewing world there’s probably various things you can pick out that needs improving – for example you can hear when the keys press down against the foam on the inside of the piano, but this is the case for even an acoustic piano, so I don’t see it as a big issue.
I’ve had mine for a few months now and I play it pretty much everyday, it’s just so much fun and great value for money. So just buy it already!
Yes this is a great piano. The sound it nice, even though not perfect but that will do it for a beginner.
Liked price and quality, beautiful weighted keys and the sound is terrific.
Can’t go wrong with Yamaha Pianos. Waited a full year to review. Perfect Digital Piano for Beginners and more advanced. Having digital weighted keys is a massive bonus. Additionally via USB you can bring MIDI from the P-45 into music creation software.
Has a very easy to use feature list, great digital sound, good keyboard feel, weighting & touch response. Really pleased with it after having shortlisted 3 brands & models, went with Yamaha due to good brand name & residual selling value if need to sell later arises.
Used to play organ and keyboard as a child but always liked piano
Teaching myself .
Its a good piano for the price
I like to layer strings and grand piano
Play about with setting to get sound you like with reverb etc..
Love it! Always wanted to buy full size weighted key digital piano, but with the prices I was hesitant. Finally got one and I don’t regret it. The sound quality is great and the keys feel so much like a real piano. I’m only a beginner, but I’m enjoying learning on this so much more than on my old small keyboard.
Toll!
Great didgital piano and excellent value. The high notes were not so loud but sound quality overall was good. Comfortable to play
I love everything about my Yamaha P-45. I am a total beginner using a course on an app. The sound quality is brilliant as are the various functions which I am slowly discovering. All in all a perfect starter and beyond keyboard. Great value for money. Very happy with my choice.
I did a lot research looking a full size piano for someone who is a beginner and just starting. After looking online (a lot of research), it turns out the P-45 is a good choice for someone who wants to learn and still have a good piano which can kept for many years. I have had it for months and it has been simply!
P.S. Got the matching Yamaha Stand and Cover which makes it look very nice too
I bought this for myself as I’ve allways wanted a piano, its excellent on every level.
Thankyou.
The product arrived on time (in fact, earlier than planned). And the touch and sound of this digital piano is great!
This feels just like playing a real piano. Sound quality is excellent. You can turn the sound level down so you don’t disturb anyone while you’re practicing. I’m an older beginner and I love it.
Delivery was soon than predicted.
Great instrument for a beginner.
Amazing realistic piano feel – my partner absolutely loves playing her & has picked up her passion from nearly 30yrs ago…
I plink & plonk and really does feel like a real piano
Top buy
All perfect. sounds like a real piano. came very quickly too and packaged really well
Finally I have a keyboard piano to practise during lockdown. So happy! It comes with a free trial to learn some songs online which is really great.
The piano has very good sound and plays well.
The music stand does not have any clip to hold sheets or keep
a book open.
Excellent packaging and delilvery. The electric piano arrived in perfect condition. My children have loved trying it out. My son is currently Grade 2 and is enjoying practising his tunes on it. It sounds very like an acoustic piano.
Past life as a semi-pro and occasional actual pro musician, decades of experience with electronic keyboards. Was surprised at the quality of the graded hammer action in a store in the States, where I left behind a wealth of instruments (including my Yamaha-produced Korg SV1-88 with RH3 action). Ordered it here in the UK and the P45 holds its own well.
Action is amazingly great, especially for the price (and weight); I’ve never cared for Fatar keyboards used by other high end makers – they feel like crap, not even remotely authentic, sorry. Very nice matte feel to the black keys, consistent hammer action that re-triggers nicely on single note trills; it does acoustic piano very well, again, not earth-shaking against expensive pro boards, but I’d have happily paid thousands twenty years ago! Aside from the analog electric piano, a pipe organ and a harpsichord, the other sounds are – meh – but that’s a very minor quibble to me; strings are synthy but serviceable when layered with another instrument. (Two each pipe organs and harpsichords? They would have done better to have one of each and include a tonewheel organ and an acoustic bass/piano split IMHO, though price probably translated to memory constraints.) One MAJOR issue, if you care, is latency as a USB controller – it’s bad.
Great piano, sounds just like the real thing and excellent quality too. Would recommend.
I’m have a degree in piano performance, but wanted a light keyboard to just be able to put in headphones and do some general work. Can also plug this into a computer with a USB cable, to record, or run midi, Overall a good general keyboard. Weighted keys that feel mostly like a piano – can never replicate perfectly, but its pretty close.
Absolutely excellent value for money.
Keys feel good although not super fast bounce back.
I don’t understand anything about pianos, and my boyfriend used to play professionally, but since he’s changed vocations I wanted to get him something light and sturdy he can keep at home and play when he wants to. He seemed really happy with it. Keys feel good and heavy, sound comes out great, value for money is amazing!
Yamaha p 45 , for that price you cant get anythink bether then that .
I’m a beginner and had this for about two months. I’m making slow but some progress, I’m enjoying the journey. It’s not easy learning piano! What I would say is don’t buy cheaper you need at least this standard of piano for it to keep your interest. If you really don’t like it it has good resale value too. It’s worth saving a little extra and getting this over cheaper options. The sound is something you will probably normally be hear through headphones via the computer as you’ll be learning through flowkey which is free for three months with this or other software. The upgrade from this has better external sound apparently but I’m completely happy with the way this one sounds. Would recommend.
Great piano, proper feel to keys good sound and good bass section. Very easy to set up and use.
Would recommend purchasing a separate sustaining pedal, plus stand.
Got this instrument as a present for one of my students’ birthday.
Independently, one of my other students got it as a present from her mom with no input from myself.
A solid first instrument for any beginner. Top-notch for this kind of money. Not too many features to keep them distracted, not too few to keep them losing interest. Lots of Easter eggs and bells and whistles if you go hunting for them, not too many if you don’t. The perfect balance.
If you’re in your third or fourth year, you may want to start looking into other options.
If you’re in your sixth, you shouldn’t be reading this.
If you’re a complete beginner of any age, this is the most bang for your buck.
Takes up very little space, too.
(If you’re in need for any kind of appeal to authority, I’m a Russian-trained pianist and composer who owns two acoustic instruments on two ends of the world, each of them much older than my grandma who’s dead. It is with that in mind that I’m giving this recommendation. Godspeed.)
This is a simple electronic piano with a good selection of instruments. Grand piano is the best, and it’s the one we use normally.
The weighted key feedback is very nice, and yet requires very little effort, so it’s great for the children.
The sound is excellent for our standards, we had an M-Audio, and this Yamaha sounds much better, and it’s so much lighter and easier to play.
There are quite a lot of configuration options, but because there are no dedicated buttons, it’s all done with they keys, and some options are not indicated on the case, so you will need to keep the instruction manual next to it all the time.
We particularly like the ability to adjust the sensitivity to the force, which allows for good expression.
The pedal is included purely as a temporary solution, it’s small and quite useless, we use a proper one that we had already.
Still, I doubt we could find better quality and performance at this price. Very happy!
New to piano, this was recommended by teacher, really love i
Nothing to dislike.
At 91, I decided it was time to unravel the mysteries of music. I seem to have found the answer.
Bought this in the last few months, been playing it since. I’m a beginner and it’s perfect. Easy to use, portable and solid build. No complaints.
Love it! If you’re not too knowledgeable about keyboards, don’t be fooled by the picture; it’s massive!!
This was recommended to me and I’m very pleased with it.
