Very good by brought this for my darter as she has a 5 month old puppy so good two see what he is up two great by
Not wanting or needing high security, we have little to protect, I ordered this as an economic and simple precaution. It senses a person approaching the property, notifies me via my phone and takes a short recording. The length of the recording can be increased, but that costs more. The pictures are good quality and the person recorded pretty recognisable. I believe it to be excellent value and a useful crime prevention tool. Given the price, better then expected.
IR light is short range and isn’t effective looking out of a window. The sound detection is triggered by its own click moving from day to night. Motion detection is indiscriminate, tree, bird, ball etc. 4 digit pin is weak security.
Images are clear and camera is easy to setup. Old style USB for power. Cams each need an sd card to save footage or get ripped by cloud sub.
App is simple but sluggish at times.
It works, simple to setup, decent quality for the price.

Well due to numerous youths hanging around I decided to get these home cameras. Vision, noise detection all great. Instructions are simple enough to follow. Downside is you have to have it plugged into the mains for it to work!! So that limits you to where you can put it.
Very smart looking camera. Easy to set up! I purchased a SD card to prevent having to pay for a subscription. Its only been set up for a day but I’m happy with it. The app is pretty simple to use although I was lost on how to constantly record but with the help of YouTube this was figured out rather quickly. The picture quality is better then the cameras I had which I paid a lot more for so thats a plus. You can speak through them so if my teens are home alone and don’t tidy up after themselves I can catch them red handed and speak to them though the camera lol. For the price I am more then happy with this. I will buy a new one for spares. Thank you!!
EDIT: I seen there was one camera left so I’ve just purchased it for another room. Very impressed with this brand so far and hopefully will be for the foreseeable future too. Highly recommend

For the price, this is an awesome little camera. Good quality picture, night visions not too bad, sound is good, alerts could be improved upon – such as; I put one in my window, so I can see whose at the door and sometimes it just doesn’t capture someone coming right up to my door, which is a bit worrying, but it’ll record like a bird or a bus. But, most of the time, it’s ok. It only records 6second clips, after that you have to pay. But at least it’s somewhat free – some cameras you have no choice but to pay a subscription. I can also do my shopping in Asda and then look on the app on my phone to see if there’s any parking at home
So overall, very happy, especially for the price.
Great day and night vision. Really easy set up, takes about 3 minutes. We were so impressed with the first camera, bought a second the next day.
Use it for home security and to monitor the pets when they are home alone, so will need two Micro SD cards for the cams, but not a huge expense.
Only issue is that they come with no mounting equipment. They are supposed to just sit on a table but the view isn’t great when sat at knee-height. We’ve used double sided tape until we can come up with a better solution for mounting them to the ceiling.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting a lot from this camera considering the price.
Well I’ve been amazed and most definitely proved wrong. The ease of setting it up couldn’t have been easier, so simple if you follow the instructions which are emailed direct to you. The fact that it has two way sound is brilliant.
The night vision is amazingly clear, and daytime is pin sharp. My only gripe is the cost of the optional cloud storage which in my opinion is excessive, but please remember this is optional and not essential as the memory card is more than ample. My overall major plus for this camera is that it is motion detection which is sent directly to my phone.
To sum up, considering the price this little camera scores a top 5/5 and 100% recommended if you are considering a cctv camera.
In itself it’s a good product; quick and easy to connect and you can easily connect multiple cameras in various locations. However, there is a pause between the moment someone walks past the camera and the notification in your app. That pause is just long enough for the ‘burglar’ to cross some 3, 4 yards, unplug the device and then you won’t receive an alarm. I tested this myself. So make sure you place the camera where it is not spotted immediately and you’ll be fine.
What I don’t like is that you only get 6 second clips when there is a motion detection, barely enough time to see who walks past. If you want longer clips, you’ll have to take out a subscription from the manufacturer.
One other thing: don’t use its most sensitive setting or you’ll receive too many alarms, especially when the room is dark. I’ve been woken up in the middle of the night, my heart racing, only to see absolutely nothing on the camera. It seems that the night vision is overly sensitive. So I’ve now set it to medium and had no problem since.

Great camera! You have to download an app on your phone to watch the footage. It only records and stores 6 second clips and if you want to record and store more you have to pay monthly, so not great if you are using the cameras for security. It’s perfect for when i’m at work and can view my dog anytime, so no need to record to be honest! You can speak and move the camera around. Works great with a second camera as well so you can see from different angles. Great value for money, a lot of cameras like this are very expensive! Does the job and for roughly 20 you can’t go wrong!!
Good for what I need it for but would be better if it worked without needing power lead.
If it works without please someone let me know as I can only get it working when power lead is attached.
Apart from that it’s a good camera for its money
I’ve updated the review due an issue with connecting to WiFi. Whilst is was very frustrating, the customer service received was above excellent, very prompt replies and a number of of possible fixes to solve the problem. Sadly none worked. They have very kindly sent me a replacement. The whole process was the kind of customer service you want, 6 star . Resolved within a week.
Actually found this small camera of excellent value. Super picture quality on HD and easy to set up. Works great with Alexa Show, so if you are upstairs in bed, ask Alexa to show the camera.
Motion detector is very sensitive and picks up movement well , not used the audio properly however does work nicely .
Will buy more and hopefully the Outside wireless one. Waiting for the sales
We have tried other cameras, but these are so easy to set up and easy to use, especially when compared to other brands. Just follow the instructions, exactly as written and you are up and working in minutes. What is more it is easy to share use of the cameras by clicking on the camera and pressing share. You can simply whatsapp the code for scanning.
We use them for all the rooms downstairs in my mother’s house so that we can check on her when we have to leave her on her own – she has dementia. You can even talk through them, though we haven’t done that yet as it might confuse her! However, if we needed to talk to her in an emergency and she couldn’t get to the phone, these cameras would work well. You can also record the footage, which was useful as evidence when a carer was neglecting my mother – no better evidence.
We had one camera and then added two more – again easy to do. They can all be viewed via one app on your mobile phone.
Simple and efficient!

I’ve already got the Yi outdoor camera and 3 of the Yi Dome cameras. I bought this one for my parents and it’s also excellent value. They use it as a baby monitor, and it’s ideal for placing on a shelf as it can be swivelled to point downwards.
The picture quality is good, like the other Yi cameras I have. I like all the Yi cameras because they let you put a memory card in to record, and also give you 6 seconds of cloud storage when a movement notification is triggered for free. They offer paid subscriptions for further cloud storage but I’ve never seen the need for this. The app is a bit glitchy – after clicking to view a camera I frequently have to click back and then click on it a second time for it to actually load, but I’m used to this now so not too bothered.
Great Camera, I cant say I have noticed much of a difference in picture quality between the 720 and the 1080 picture when zooming into a clip, however without zooming in the picture is slightly clearer. I have put this into an external wall mounted weatherproof case and added a 64GB SD fast memory card so I do not need to use the cloud storage. Overall for the price and picture quality I am pleased with the product.
I bought one of these initially as I was wary of the price point and was considering a more expensive system. However, I quickly bought another and will probably buy a third too.
I bought these to replace my nanny cam which was 60 and rubbish. These are amazing.
First time takes about 10-15 mins to set up, get the app, connect etc – instructions are okay but not great. Second camera connected no problem to same app and I can now move between rooms / cameras with ease.
I bought these as dual purpose nanny cams and in case of burglary.
They have bright blue lights that would be noticed by a potential intruder. You can set alerts to wake you in the night to motion or sound. You can vary the sensitivity.
You can see seven days worth of clips in the app.
Only things I dislike:
Clips after motion or sound is triggered are only seven seconds long. I’ve tried to alter this to be longer but can’t find a way.
No stickers in the box to say that the house is monitored – very minor complaint! I just bought some stickers separately.
I use this at night to watch and monitor my son who has epilepsy, it catches any seizures so we can easily show his paediatrician, you can set the motion sensitivity, the cloud sevice is brilliant, instant access to remaining motion after the initial 6 seconds, or can use a sd card and download just purchased my second one as the quality is great for the price, works ok on the amazon echo show after 10 m need to close and reopen due to buffering but takes seconds, easy to set up and use in a few minutes
I was a little concerned having read some reviews that I may have had to turn the 5ghz network off on my BT 6 router prior to connecting. There wasn’t any issue at all, easily found the network and connected.
Picture is good, night vision clear. Interestingly the lens rotates to “straighten” the picture. As I has this on a slightly sloping surface it worked well.
The motion detection had a slight delay but that’s not at at all an unusual finding on cameras. Iverall very happy
Excellent little camera for the price! Needed these as away from home sometimes and simply wanted to check the house was OK when not there, they are ideal for this purpose. Only thing to bear in mind is you’ll need a plug socket near the mounting point. I like the fact it saves a 6 second clip without any charge and that you can simply insert a memory card to record footage (not included) the footage is not 4k quality of course but 1080p is adequate and even the night vision is pretty good. For the price I don’t think these are perfect.
The camera is excellent and covers a space approximately 7 foot wide. It’s perfect for what we need and automatically changes to night vision which is extremely clear view.
The only thing I would say before purchasing is to make sure you have a device where your display settings can be set to permanently on. This app doesnt work with a locked screen. (we use a laptop to keep an eye on our puppy over night and its brilliant)
Haven’t used the motion detection so cant comment on that.
We also haven’t signed up for cloud storage as we dont need it. But if you want to be able to save recordings, this is something you need to do. Although it’s only 3.99 a month.
Good product for us to be used as a monitor. I was expecting less because of the price, so very happy with the purchase.

Bought these as a nanny cam for my dog when I am out just to make sure he is ok.
Pictures Good through the app, but choppy and 10 second lag in Amazon Show
Like most I had issues connecting the cameras to the Amazon Show. The solution is when you are asked to log into your YI account, make sure that in Country it says your country. If it says USA or Australia and you are in the UK, make sure it says UK then log in with your details. Then get Alexa to find the cams.
As mentioned previously, there is a 10 second lag and buffers.
Bought these cameras to point out the window and they do a great job. You can put an SD card inside it so you don’t need to purchase cloud storage. This points outside looking at my car.
The app is good, sometimes logs you out however it’s a minor inconvenience for the cheap price.
I can say I became an expert in indoor camera as i have dozen at home. I wanted to update all cameras at home and use one software/brand.
After using couple of days.
Pros:
Good night vision.
Good quality of pictures.
Easy setup.
Cons:
Video recording is very gigantic in term of MB.
Camera getting a bit hotter.
PC software need a bit of refreshment. Would be better to view the camera in the browser.
Really good well priced little camera. I got it as a “Grannie watch” camera. I’ve got it placed so my mother triggers it when she passes, just for peace of mind that she’s OK, perfect! Also useful in a nursery to check the little one is OK.
I use an SD card so movement is stored, no need for an expensive plan.
I have one at home that I use through the window. I have the IR light turned off so there’s no reflection on the glass, I live on a main road so there’s plenty of light from the street lights for a clear picture. If you use it somewhere remote, the picture won’t be so good. Using it indoors of course you can use the IR light and the picture is great.
Brilliant indoor camera that works very well. I have one pointing to the back door, front door and the window overlooking the front of the house. The camera is quick and easy to install and has voice prompts to take all the worry out of installing it, even if you’re not a technology expert. Just download the App on your mobile phone and follow the prompts. You can then position your camera where you need it and monitor it from your phone. Brilliant and would recommend
The camera’s are great quality for the price that they are, HD video feedback which easily detects people both during the day and at night. The speakers aren’t the best but does the job. It is a pain that you have to sign up for Yi’s Cloud as there should be an option where you don’t have to sign up to be able to use the cameras but after you sign up you can cancel the subscription right away and just use SD cards. Overall happy with the product, would recommend if you need budget cameras.
Excellent product for the price ! I was quite shocked how easy it was to set up. I receive notifications even when cars go by but I’m not bothered about that. Would definitely recommend most of my friends and family are purchasing one.
Doesn’t work properly without a subscription. I won’t be buying any more.
I discovered that a reload of the app solved the problems I was having.
I would give it five stars if the app didn’t look so much like a sales platform.
Not too tricky to set up however out of the two cameras one is constantly offline and needing to unplug it. One is working well and the other is n out so unsure how to remedy the problem. Having persevered with updating the firmware and so on the second camera is working fine and happy with the product. Hence upgraded the rating.
I must admit, was a little sceptical in regards to these cameras but they had good reviews, so thought “what the hell”. Must admit I’m VERY impressed with the ease of set-up and I enjoy the features such as being able to talk through the camera if needs be. The app is straight forward and simple to use, my only gripe is the cloud service not being free. It is free for a month, then you have to pay. Can check on my furbaby if im at work which gives me a HUGE ease of mind.
The picture quality is great! You can view the camera from a phone anywhere. I’ve fitted it inside a dog crate to keep an eye on the new pup. The night vision is ace, remarkably clear.
The set-up is fairly simple and the companion app works well. It’s worth pointing out that you’ll (on Apple at least) have to agree to a cloud storage plan when you sign into the app and create an account. You cancel it by going into settings/ subscriptions and unchecking it. Not a problem, but if you forget you’ll eventually get charged for storage that you might not even need.
One of the things that attracted me to this little camera was that it easily clips out of its included stand. That was perfect for me as I could make a hole and mount it in the dog crate.
Overall I’m very happy and think the camera is excellent value.
Use an SD card and don’t sign up to cloud, you don’t need to. I’ve got the camera trained on the garden through a window. There’s a blue light on the camera that causes the footage to have a flash over the image. Turn the light off, the camera still works. Clean your Windows and put the camera right up against the glass and the image is pretty good. Worth it for the price and because it’s portable and not wired to an outside wall, it can be moved. Very practical. It picks up sounds, motion and people and you have the option to capture just people. Would be great if you want it in your babies room as the picture quality is better when inside the house. Worth it for a bit of peace of mind!!
I have 3 of these, for the price I can’t complain. The 2-way sound is a nice feature. Night vision is ok, for the price it’s not going to be brilliant is it but it does the job. The app is great and has loads of features. I put SD card’s in them for continuous recording but you do get free 6 second clips when it detects motion, and can also pay for cloud storage.
Well i love it the majority of the time. I can see and hear my baby clearly through it. And i like that i can adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection. I was disappointed that it cant be hung on a wall without buying an accessory. But the bit that bugs me is the switching from day mode to night mode, when its dark in the room, but the sun outside hits the curtains through the trees, it starts getting confused if it’s daytime or nightime. And theres no manual override to keep it on night mode. It sounds like an old style camera shutter when it switches and as its repetitive it wakes my baby up. But thats the only fault with it. If you can put up with that, then its brillia
Nice camera. Can be in stand or out. Super easy and clever to set up. Picture quality is OK. It’s good for larger objects. Don’t expect to be seeing reg plates in your car park from indoors. Motion detection is great. All in all, worth the money for sure.
A good enough product! The only thing I find annoying is that send me a motion detection alert for something very minor (dog stretching) but not for something bigger eg person coming into the room. I’d recommend it for checking in on someone or a pet, but not as a security camera. The quality of the video is good and the night vision is impressive. You only get 6 seconds of motion detection clips and then you have to pay for more.
For the price you pay, this is a seriously good bit of kit. No, the 1080p isn’t top notch but it’s decent, the night vision isn’t cutting edge but it pretty darn good. For 22 you get an awful lot, perfect if you want a bunch of these around your home – great thing i love about Yi products is they just WORK and well! The App is always spot on, no bugs, fast and easy to use. The best thing I like about this is I don’t need to take out a cloud plan if i don’t want to, instead I popped in a Micro SD and simply record the footage to my phone that I wish to keep! If you review this next to much more expensive alternatives it comes up short in quality, but not by much and the App for me is easier and much better. I would highly recommend this product, not just if you are on budget!!
I’ve been using this camera for over a year now and I have nothing but good things to say.
I use this as a home security camera and find the video quality to be very good when set to HD. As I point this outside my front window as it has an option to turn off the IR lights, the street lighting it still enough to see everything at night.
Setup took 5 minutes included a firmware update, just make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz wifi network first, you might need to split you wifi router into 2.4 & 5GHz in it’s settings as i did.
The camera is well made and so far has never missed a beat, and the app has also been greatly improved over the last year. It’s good to see YI really support their products with new updates.
It’s an amazing camera for the price, and I see the updated version now has AI features which normally need an expensive cloud subscription, not with YI! For the price, I might get another just for this feature alone. I would fully recommend.

I purchased this camera as I work from home and miss the doorbell when music is on. I can have the feed from this camera on one of my screens and check who is at the door, which is very useful when I can choose not to answer it. Even when not looking at the screen, the app on my phone can notify me that movement has been detected.
I don’t subscribe to the cloud feature and didn’t have to complete details that are sensitive to use it. I have used an SD card and can check back on activity that I may have missed.
I can check the live stream or saved motion detection at anytime (on my mac) and from anywhere where my phone has connection.
The build quality is very good. The picture is excllent. All this for such a low price. Excellent value
Generally very good with small irritations.
First the picture quality is excellent even when it is dark. It is also small, lightweight and can be moved around to different networks.
The motion detection is troubling. It certainly captures movement (even changes in ambient lighting – e.g. when a car’s headlights pass the blinded window) but if a second event happens within a minute or so, no alert is sent. Don’t quite understand that one!
I actually bought it to monitor my front door through the bay window but discovered that double glazing distorts the image (especially at night when reflections from inside the house mask the scene outside.) and plays havoc with motion alerts. None of this is a fault of the camera which operates well but I now need to investigate outside cameras for this purpose.

I use this camera for home surveillance, mostly for our dog at home. It’s very simple to set up in just a few steps. It has a long cable that make it easy to set in high places as well. it has a wide enough angle to cover a significant area as well.
It pairs with a proprietary app, this app has had a few updates recently improving the stability and user interface. At first I wasn’t really happy with the app as it took a while to connect but it’s been improving a lot these days. You can add multiple cameras (of the same brand) to the app and it’s very simple to switch between them. The night vision works like a charm, with a clear picture even when zooming in. It has a built in mic and speaker for dual communication.
Regarding connectivity, the product states that it only connects to 2.4ghz wi-fi and at home I use BT Ultrafast fibre, where the router signal apparently does not actively split the 5ghz and 2.4ghz channels, at least with the little understanding I have on this, however, the camera connects with no issues to my wi-fi so this is a massive plus if you are unsure about your signal.
The alerts could be improved as a few (very few) times I’ve gotten delayed alerts but most of the times it works perfectly. You can set it up with an SD card or pay for the cloud storage. I personally use this without either of these as the alerts give you a 5 second video that you can save on your device.
Regarding connectivity, the product states that it only connects to 2.4ghz wi-fi and at home I use BT Ultrafast fibre, where the router signal apparently does not actively split the 5ghz and 2.4ghz channels, at least with the little understanding I have on this, however, the camera connects with no issues to my wi-fi so this is a massive plus if you are unsure about your signal.

he Yi indoor camera is a really good camera for the price, we use the camera to watch over our rear garden and shed, the night vision is good if there is even if there is minimum light, we have a security light with motion detection so if the camera detects anything so will my security light. we use the camera looking through a window so you need to switch of the infra red lights on the camera or it will reflect against the glass, it will record about a 10 second clip when movement is detected, if you add a 32gb memory card you can record longer clips. if you set up alarms you can get instant warnings on you phone and check out whats happening.
These cameras are pretty amazing and for 25-30 each you can’t go wrong. I opted to have one sitting inside but facing outside towards my driveway, so it covers the cars too. It is also a good deterrent as it can quite easily be seen from the road and if you walk up the drive towards the front door. If you do this, you need to turn off the night vision though as it just reflects back onto the camera lens. (To counteract the lack of light at night-time, we have driveway sensor lights that come on if there is movement.) The inside facing camera has the night vision on, and the quality of the picture is perfect.
I opted to upload to the Cloud rather than the SD card, after all, if someone breaks in all they have to do is nick the SD card from the back of the unit and then they are as good as useless. The Cloud and the app work really well and I can’t recommend them enough. I feel very at ease going on holiday or even just going to work, and not having to worry about the house – (I can log in at any time on the app to see all is well 🙂 )

This product is good but my second camera has no sound I have inky just noticed this as it’s not used as much. I have tried resetting and checked all the settings and they are exactly the same as my the first camera. Very disappointing. I have emailed support and waiting a response but it I think it’s a faulty camera so will be requesting a new one
Fantastic camera, got it to keep an eye on my dog and it’s brilliant. Picture quality is great, motion detection works brilliantly, long cable for easy mounting. Was very easy to set up with the app on my samsung S8 phone. Only real issues I have is that the speaker for the two way audio is pretty poor, audio is incredibly quiet and there is no aux port to plug in better ones. The other issue is the front light, it makes the camera very obvious and as it is set up above my tv it is very distracting (I did fix this with a sticker but thought you should know). Still as soon as it goes back on sale I’ll be buying more of them to cover the whole house. I got this for 20 btw incase anyone else wants to wait for a discounted offer.
Worked fine when in the house. However, we wanted to put one camera in the barn where there was no wifi. Bought the appropriate SD card, formatted as per instructions and left to record. Nothing! Repeated the process several times and still nothing. Messaged the seller, asking for help – no response. Messaged a second time two weeks later – still no response. The actual cameras are great and we were very pleased with them initially. However, they are not performing as advertised and the seller is just not responding to our contact.
For the price this is a very good security camera. Software easy to use and camera fairly straightforward in setting up. Only niggle I have is the camera software has a habit after several hours to stop generating a live thumbnail on the alerts video clip.
Basically when working; once a short video clip is recorded you see a thumbnail of the what the camera is actually looking at.
However, what often happens is you lose that live thumbnail view and is then replaced with the default picture of a room that comes with the software.
In other words when it works, by quickly glancing at all the thumbnails you can see where the movement was generated and what it was.
However, when it does not work all you see is the same thumbnail picture and have no idea what was recorded until you click on each thumbnail to view the short recorded image.
Not described as top of the range. Must admit not a make that I have heard of so I bought these with no real expectations. However. The devices were easy to set up. Consisted of downloading the app, entering the WFI password and scanning a QR code and 5 minutes later the camaras were up and running.
The quality of the picture day and night is good. I have one camera pointing out of my bedroom window and was worried that the picture would not be so good. But how wrong was I. once I turned off the status light the camera was fine. The camera covers a good 40ft with an elivated view. The motion detection is so good that it picks up moving bushes, cats walking past the house as well as cars and people walking pass the house. quiet a distance from the house.
As well as the picture quality being good. The app is easy to download setup and use. You can view the camera in realtime and also has a payback feature. It is interesting viewing what happens in your neigbour hood at night. There is also an alert function.
Overall can speak high enough of these cameras. I have one pointing at my French doors and the other pointing outside the house. No need for me to buy an external camera. Excellent product and value for money.

I bought this camera to keep an eye on my home, whilst I am out. It gave me peace of mind, knowing that everything is okay. I can open up the Yi Camera App on my phone and view the live camera feed and/or view any previous alerts.
I even managed to check in on my home, whilst traveling abroad to Spain. I had mobile data roaming, so it was possible to check the cameras, just as if I was in the UK. Of course, when I went into the mountain areas, where there is no mobile data reception, I could not check anything. Most UK networks include the cost of data roaming in the EU. Outside, Europe, roaming charges can be expensive, although Wi-fi may be available.
Motion Detection – the best feature is the motion detection, which is very sensitive. Sometimes, I have viewed the 6 second alert footage on my phone and wondered why it has been flagged up, only to notice in distance a car or a passer by. It is very sensitive.
Picture Quality – it is described as 1080p quality. The camera is okay, but I do not think if it is good enough to identify burglars. The camera has night vision, so it can record detection, but drops to black and white mode. You may consider having good lighting side by side. You will need to experiment. Also, I am not sure if it can read car number plates etc…
Street lighting or car headlights can blind it.
Windows PC – You can download Windows PC software to be able monitor on your PC. You can monitor multiple cameras at the same time.
Wired CCTV ? – I did consider a Wired CCTV Camera system. Such as those by HikVision, who are a world leader in CCTV systems. Whilst their products are tried and tested and used by professionals, but they don’t have the cloud back up (unless you use a third party company). The subscription rates of those were more expensive, then rates for wireless cameras. The Wired CCTV system records locally to a recorder on your premises. However, a burglar can steal the recorder. The wired CCTV systems are robust, but they lack the flexibility and nimbleness of wireless systems.
Nest / Hive / Ring – they have been advertising a lot. However, their subscription models are expensive. With Yi Camera, I have the option of stopping the subscription and it also backs up to memory card.
This product is not bullet proof. If a burglar is in your home, they can turn off the camera (just by turning off the switch). Although, you would have been sent the 6 second alert on your phone (if in time). This product has no battery back up, but many other wireless cameras dont have this feature either. So if there is a power cut, it has no power to keep recording. In addition, you need to have power back-up for your Wi-Fi router. You may be in an area, where Wi-fi stops working or is unreliable, so there is no back-up to switch to mobile data. As you can see, there are multiple lines of failure. If I had lots of money, I would fit a wired 4k Camera system from HikVision.
Trial – it mentions there is a one month trial, but you have to pay a subscription, before you can get it.
32GB – I ordered this card, but if you are only doing motion detection, then you can use a smaller capacity card.
UPDATE: You may be better off with a 64GB, if your camera is facing the street, you will get lot of alters if the trees blow in the wind or a bird flies by.
Subscription – they have a subscription of 7 day x 5 camera recording for 60 euros per year. Motion detection only. They have continuous detection, but that is more expensive. Continuous recording is far more expensive.
Power- it gets power from a USB socket on the wall.
EzVIZ – I also bought a wireless camera from this brand (because it is made by HikVision). An industry leader in CCTV. However, the EZViz is their range of wireless products. Having had both brands side by side. The YI Camera is far more superior. EzViz apps is n’t so great. I like the fitting system of EzViz (it has a magnetic base).
I read some of the negative reviews for the Yi Camera, however, I have not experienced any issues. Set up was very easy and reliable.
UPDATE 2020: YiCamera, help me find that my new neighbours, had turned the property into what I suspected a pop-up brothel, everyone was coming night. I suspected criminal activity. It help me find out what was going on at night, but video quality is n’t good enough to identify people, if they are walking fast, wearing hoodies. If a car headlights are pointing into the camera at night, it is going to capture a white blur. However, it did help me figure out what was going on, as I could hear cars turning up, people talking on the street at night at 1am, 2a, 3am 4am and disturbing my sleep, but the camera helped me put a picture, to what I was hearing in bed.
I am paying for cloud, but I have no idea, how to save from it.
Reviewing footage: That is a chore. As I had suspected criminal activity on my street. I had a memory card reader, and transfered the files to the PC for reviewing. Each file is 60seconds long. It does take time, but I found out the quickest way it to use VLC and the playlist editor and speed through it as it has a skip 10 seconds feature. SO you can review files and delete unwanted files.
Complying with regulations: You need to see the ICO web site, as there are guidance on how to deal with CCTV footage. I put signage up. You also need to decide how long to keep the data. YI will delete things after 7 days (depending on subscription and memory card).
Phone Data: If your camera is going to face the street, then make sure you have adequate data for your phone. If the camera is facing the phone, then you wont get much alerts.
Wishlist: I have written to Yi for a feature request. One camera faces my living room, so very little activity. If there was an altert, I wanted to be notified right away as a matter of urgency!!!. However, if I have another camera facing the street and garden. I don’t want to see an alert about a bird flying. So I don’t want my phone to ping. So I might get 30 or 40 alerts, I would review them when if I get time….
Please leave a ‘Helpful’ note, so I know my efforts have helped others.

The set up process is extremely easy and quick. Download the app and follow instructions. The camera talks to you to let you know where its at in the setup process and if a step fails or succeed. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to set up (I work as a computer programmer and used to tricky stuff). The picture quality is great and so is audio and the 2-way intercom system works quite well I have to say. The night vision picture is also very good and the motion detection works very well, almost too well.
The app is also quite easy to navigate and use and looks very nice, I do wish they would add IFTTT support though and maybe some explanations for certain settings.
I’ve only used it a couple of days but already ordered a second one.
Fantastic camera.
Superb quality even good on night view.
The sound: you can hear a pin drop it is that sensitive.
Can be used in intercom mode which is brilliant, talk to the dog or tell our sons that we will be home in 5 minutes. Put kettle on
Many features in settings including passcode so as to make the camera secure from others to view.
We initially brought this to keep an eye on our dog whilst we are out.
Also use in window as security camera.
Highly recommend

This is a great security camera to use through a window with some slight modifications. I looked at true external security cameras and because of mounting and wiring problems decided to try out the Yi Home Camera 1080p instead. To minimise glare from the window I covered the white mount with matt black insulation tape – this is easy to apply and much less messy than applying matt paint. The camera sits on top of its packaging and is just touching the glass. At night I close heavy curtains behind the camera and during the daytime ensure that the drapes are open. You will need to turn off the Status Light and the Night Vision IR Light as both these will reflect from the window glass.
At dusk the camera switches from normal camera mode to infra red mode automatically- the IR image is obvious as leaves on trees will appear to be white instead of green. I have set the Lens Distortion function to the mid-point on the scale, that works well for me. I have the Camera Microphone turned off but if you have it operating you can listen and speak via the microphone icon on the app screen.
With Motion Detection turned on you will receive alerts to your iPhone / mobile on a regular basis when the camera detects movement a short movie is recorded on the micro SD card – this can be triggered by people, cars, cats, dogs, foxes and on one occasion by a magpie flying by. At night a recording is generally triggered by cars passing by – this could result in many dozens of recordings from bright headlights. But the Yi will also record people and foxes at night – the camera resolution is lower at night and there is some ghosting on a moving image so it would be tricky to identify intruders but you would have a video and know exactly the time when an event takes place.
Key settings are the Motion Detection and Activity Region functions in the app – Motion Detection gives you access to a range of important functions.
With the activity region activated a live image is displayed with a red box – the red box can be resized and moved to anywhere on the screen. So it is possible to just limit motion detection to a front drive, path or entrance gate for example. With Motion Detection activated you will receive notification messages on your iPhone – these are fun at first but you may be getting hundreds a day so I turn this off – the camera still records movement and stores this as a short film clip on the micro SD card but notifications are not sent out. With my settings I use about 1.2Gb of card memory a day so with a 32Gb card I get about 20 days of activity recordings. To review the recordings tap the screen and a sliding bar pops up with a date and timeline, each activity is marked with a red line, just use you fingers to expand the timeline to minutes and tap just before the recording to view the activity. The recording normally starts just before and just after the event and if there are simultaneous or successive events the recording will span a longer period. I use the camera on HD continuously and the playback and live feeds are generally coming in at up to 220kbs if you have limited data allowance on your mobile it gets eaten up very quickly.
My Yi connects to a close Apple Express WiFi and connects at 78Mbs, the app has functions to check the connection and its quality. Make sure you install the latest updates when notified via the app. A great camera at a great price but WiFi connection is erratic.

First of all this is an excellent product! Well built, super easy to setup, very good picture quality and baby cry detection works!
We bought this to use as a baby monitor. Wanted something that can send alert to devices such as mobiles and tablets when baby cried.
The feature works really well except for the fact you can only have it on a single device. It kinda makes sense but would love that extra flexibility. You can share the camera with others but they will not get motion or crying alerts.
Overall super surprised how easy the set up was and the voice commands that tell you everything is going well or if there was a password error.
Latency seems to be very low too which is good for a WiFi connected device. Probably only a second or 2 video / voice delay and the push notifications are quick too.
I can highly recommend this camera, better than some of the more generic baby video monitors in my opinion. But having said that it really does depend if you want a constant live feed or just want to check in.
Not sure about subscribe to yi cloud as I only have one decive but may keep an close eye on this brand!

This is a quality camera. Gives a crisp clear image with many options in the app to control your camera. It has a good feel and look about it. I have several Yi cameras and all work very well. The camera works well through glass and as it can be fitted close to or touching the glass it prevents the majority of reflection. I don’t use the night vision as this doesn’t work through glass, however if there is sufficient light it will capture reasonable quality. I have tried to upload a clip but it seems I can’t so here is a still to show the quality at 3am with no night visio

Got this twin pack and love the form factor small and light
You could even remove the camera from its mount and with a hole cutter the right size retrofit them into your own custom install.
Up and running quickly app works great
Motion detection is great ,push notifications come timely
Picture quality is great quality
The only annoyance is a goddam fly in my garage is buzzing around the infrared at night and even on the lowest motion detect setting is being triggered…. fly spray has sorted that for the moment !
Thoroughly recommended.
Added some day and night photos from the cam facing out of the window.

Update: Item replaced by Yi. Amazon offered a refund only but would have to pay for posting and packaging…Very happy with the replacement. Use it to watch my bike and house when going away. Happy customer
***
Initial review: Item stopped working after roughly 1 month (faulty USB connector) . Covered by warranty however both Yi and Amazon are not facilitating its replacement. This review will be altered/removed if any progress is made…

I absolutely swear by these cameras. The build quality is astounding and the images are excellent. I bought my first about four years back. No problems whatsoever. The phone app is very well designed and simple to use. The ‘IP’ capability allows you to view your cameras from anywhere you can connect to a network. I checked my garden while on holiday in Tenerife (I’m in the UK). Also they can be set to send you a notification if someone enters a set part of the viewing area. For example, I put one inside a dummy dome case in my porch. If someone comes to my door I get a notification on my phone. I can then view the camera and have a two-way chat …even from Tenerife!
One VERY useful thing that the marketing material doesn’t even mention is that the round black camera can be simply popped-out of the stand (other than the “Yi home camera 2” version) …so I’ve very easily mounted a couple covertly inside outdoor rated junction boxes. The furthest distance camera from my router is 85ft from the router. I’ve read that people moan that they are only 2g wifi and not 5g. That’s correct …but if you’re WiFi savvy you’ll know that 5g is ideal for high traffic short distance transmission, whereas 2g is for medium traffic short AND long distance transmission. If you could somehow see the WiFi signal, 5g transmits in a spherical format – but 2g would appear as a large flying saucer shape. That’s why if you have an item at any great distance from the router you can alter the efficiency of reception by tilting your router slightly. Apologies …I went nerdy. I try to fight it, but it keeps breaking the surface!
Bottom line is forget the hyped brands as these do the same VERY well. 🙂

This is for the 1080p Yi Home Camera.
I really like this little camera. Image quality is good, it has night vision and is very reasonably priced compared to some other cameras. Set up was very easy and took about 2 minutes. It is powered via a 6ft long micro USB cable. If you want to put it up high or somewhere more than 6ft from a mains socket you can buy USB extension cables or connect it to a rechargeable powerbank and this means you can put your camera more or less wherever you like as long as its indoors.
The most Impressive thing about this camera for me is the ease of connecting to it via the 4G network when I am out and about, something which some other cameras seem to struggle with but which seems to me to be essential. I had the builders in recently doing my bathroom and my Yi camera caught them having a nosey in my bedroom while I was out. Needless to say, they withdrew pretty quickly when they noticed the camera! I promptly received a push notification to my phone and had no trouble viewing a 6-second clip of the event which started just before motion was detected so I didn’t miss anything, and also the live feed, all over 4G. When I got home I was able to access the SD card in the camera and view the whole event. The camera keeps recording to the SD card for 2 minutes after motion ceases just to make sure it doesn’t miss anything.
Overall I think this is a very good little camera for the price.

Bought 2 of these in a lightning deal have to say I’m very impressed! Set up was super easy – just follow the written instructions included, once synced to your wifi network you can put them where you want. Download the app (Yi Home Camera) and everything is done through that. Pop in a SD card if you dont want to sign up to their cloud storage and it’ll record on to the card instead. Sends through alerts in 6 second clips each time the camera is activated for you to view via the app. Motion detection is pretty damn good – even picks up birds landing in the garden!!. Image quality is excellent – even in night vision mode. I managed to find some outdoor waterproof cases for them (check out ebay – nest camera cases,as they’re the same size) Now have one front and rear!! A good cheaper alternative to a full on cctv system. Highly Recommended.
