KCD900 K Custom Dark cymbals are known for their warm, rich sound that cuts through and sings out. Overhammering on top of the cymbal provides slightly dry, trashy overtones. This pack is comprised of the most popular sizes within the K Custom Dark lineup. | KCSP4681 K Custom Dry Cymbal set is a collection of cymbals from Zildjian’s very popular Special Dry Series. These specially selected cymbals are raw and earthy and deliver a dry, funky sound with a quick fast attack, lots of dirt, yet shuts down quickly for a powerful expression of personality. | | |
Met all of my expectations! The 20″ ride sounded better with two small silicone dampers. I owned Zildjian cymbals 50 years ago. Unfortunately my son lost them. Recently I started playing TAMA drums with TAMA cymbals. I compare those to garbage can lids. Zildjian cymbals are the best. I’m a fan. I have a 20″ ride, an 18 and a 14″ crash and hi hats. LOVE THEM! The dark K cymbals perfect for my venue!
These Zildjian K’s are a breath of fresh air compared to the HHX Evolution cymbals I was using previously. They provide a pleasant, crisp and somewhat dark tone that works for almost all types of music that I have tried. Compared to other cymbals I have used, these are not so “in your face” and allow you to just enjoy playing without thinking too much about them. And all 4 cymbals in this set are excellent! If you can afford it you can’t go wrong.
I love the other cymbals but the ride needs a deeper bell tone. It just doesn’t cut through like I’d like it to. It’s okay but not awesome.
Edit: If I use the thicker part of the drumstick an inch to 2 inches above the tip to hit the bell, it sounds much better (to me). But it requires more arm extension, longer sticks or closer placement of the ride to me.
Muy versatiles, suenan de maravilla. Muy contento con la compra.
Many sets are a good value in terms of the cost of the set compare to the cost of buying each cymbal individually, but many reviews will tell you that it isn’t worth it because one or two cymbals are garbage.
For me, there isn’t a bad cymbal in this set. The hihats are the standouts to my ears, but there are some days when I think the ride is even better. The 16 inch crash starts dark and gets warmer the harder you got it/the longer it resonates. The 18 wasn’t as complex for me, but there are times when I’m playing blues or jazz and I think, man that’s perfect.
To me, that’s a sign of a good set. I have a different favorite each time I play.
The old rule is to play each cymbal before you buy it, and it’s a good rule. With the pandemic, I found it impossible to find all the cymbals I wanted to test in person. After 4 music store, the only thing from this set I found in person was the hats, and they impressed me enough that I took a flyer on the rest of the set (after listening to Memphis drum shop and my cymbal.com). I’m glad I took the risk, for me it paid off, and Amazon was the old place I could find the set at the time of purchase. Sold out elsewhere.
Delivery was good, everything arrived pristine and intact. My biggest worry was it would ship and be cracked on arrival. Again, it’s a risk I took because I couldn’t find it on Sweetwater or elsewhere. I’m the end, worth it because it arrived in mint condition with only minor abrasions on the cardboard box.
Goodluck drummers. I couldn’t be happier. I hope you find something you feel the same way about.
I have been playing Zildjian cymbals for many years. I decided to buy these Custom A’s when I got my new PDP drum kit. They are amazing.
What can I say about A’s other than they’re great! Great classic sound. The 18″ is especially nice as it can be used as a ride also, but still has a great crash sound. Very nice!
Really good quality. I bought a box set from a retail joint in the south and immediately replaced it because it was obviously used. Never buy anything from the south. They are usually broke a-holes for a reason. I bought the set on here and I love it!
Love these cymbals. Nothing bad to say. Anyone that wants a great set should know these are awesome
Very Nice, I also have Custom A’s which have a bright loud sound, the Custom K’s are mellower but still sound great!
The best purchase I’ve made in a very long time. They sound crazy good, every single cymbal. Normally in a box set, there’s one or two cymbals that majority don’t care for. This isn’t the case. If you’re in the market for a complete set, just click buy now on these dry k’s.
Great sound! Beautiful cymbals nice feel, solid thickness! They are pricey not really for beginners. Worth the money for professional musician.
Zildjian A’s are great cymbals. The brilliant finish on these are much easier to eep clean. I bought these for the Worsip Team I drum for. I’ve been a drummer for 43 years and played many different brands and styles of cymbals and it’s true in cymbals that you get what you pay for. These are worth the price!
Replaced my set of Zildjian Z Custom cymbals with these and the sound quality difference was dramatic. Much clearer crisper sound on recording as well as live. Thinner than I was expecting but feel quite solid, and the bell on the ride sounds exquisite!
Amazing set. They decay much faster which is great for a loud room, still keep great tone
I did A LOT of research on these bad boys before I purchased. I visited many sites with the objective of getting the best possible feeling for them and how they sound. This is no small purchase so I wanted to be right. Well, I was more than pleasantly surprised when I started playing on these Zildjians. I’ve never owned Custom K’s and I need a set of cymbals that were dark and dry. It was critical that the crashes weren’t bright and faded quicker that a brighter cymbal would. These do EXACTLY that. I’m a HUGE fan of these and am completely happy with my purchase. I’ve played them on stages inside and outside and they bring it every time. Sound guys love them too!
Great sounding cymbal pack just right for any music environment. Great product with the classic sound I was looking for.
I love the tones I get from these beautiful cymbals. My style doesn’t need brightness from cymbals, so these really do the trick. No ride cymbal ringing for five minutes after I strike it. It gets in and gets out and I can hear each strike clearly. Concise crashes and the deadliest hats I’ve ever had. The 14″ K Custom Special Dry hats and ride are definitely the centrepieces of this pack, and have exceeded expectations. When you consider buying the hats and ride alone costs the same as this pack, it’s a no-brainer. It ain’t cheap, but worth it. Go for it!
This is a great set of cymbals for the price. The hi hats are awesome great chick sound and open sound. The crash is nice has a quick decay. The ride is the only reason I gave four stars, It’s a great ride, but only really suits a jazz style drummers. It’s dark and mellow has very low ping sound, the bell is tiny. If your going for rock or pop probably not a great ride to use. It does how ever work great as a dark crash
What a great pack. I love larger cymbals, but this kit is very balanced, perfect blend of crisp and dark
I purchased it for my church. It looks great as well as it sounds very bright. I love A custom set.
Me encantaro
At first I couldn’t relate much to the sound but slowly, i started to love the cymbals, they have a good dimension to them, i play in small concert halls, like churches and stuff and they fit well with my set up.
*But remember to note my first comment.
I LOVE these cymbals. Great sound and I’m now a happy drumming fool.
As a portable church, we bring in different drummers with their own gear. One drastic inconsistency was their cymbals and the tones from them. For worship, we did some research, sought the advice of our drummers (many of which are professional-level musicians). We landed on this solution. For the money and simplicity of a pack for worship in an environment that needs some sound control, these are PERFECT and have greatly benefitted our overall sound in worship.
Love my K’s and their “dark” sound. Great for jazz.
Great deal vs purchasing separately, the cymbal tones compliment one another for a classic sound. The Sweet Ride is a perfect balance of cut and wash.
Amazing sound in the studio or live. I’ve been a drummer for over 30 years and these are the best set I have ever owned. I love them
I LOVE THESE! I am a cymbal fanatic and listened to dozens and dozens of different models/series before picking up this set as well as many other sizes and types in the same series.
Best zildjian cymbals money can buy in my opinion. Would recommend to anyone looking to spend a decent amount on an incredible set of cymbals.
These are amazing cymbals. They’re super responsive, with great sustain and a nice deep timbre. 5/5 would buy again.
Great set of cymbals. Im a worship pastor at a church and our old cymbals were very harsh sounding and we had a very difficult time controlling the sound. These produce a much warmer sound and don’t bleed into the vocal miss near as much. They are a little on the expensive side but were worth the money to be able to control the overall drum volume.
All I can say is Wow! After replacing my old cheaper cymbals (camber ride, avanti hats, and zildian zht fast crash) with this delightfully shimmering and beautiful set of K’s, I have to first say that the 20” is the most pleasing ride I have ever heard! The 16 and 18 crash also sound marvelously wonderful, while the hats are a great combination of cutting chick and dark smooth rolling tone. I honestly can’t wait to record with these after listening to them live.
Definitely worth shelling out the cash if you have it.
I absolutely love the way my cymbal set is sounding!!! I researched cymbals from Istanbul Agop & Mehmet, Bosphorus, Meinl, Zildjian, Sabian, Paiste, and many smaller companies for a few years before deciding which cymbals to go with. I’ve learned that although many drummers love one cymbal company and hate another, most have amazing cymbals that will suit your style if you just look for a bit. My whole cymbal set is slightly deeper sounding than the demos online which is exactly what I wanted, and at a price of $879.32, I simply could not pass up this opportunity for one of my top cymbal choices. I will update if anything goes wrong, such as cracking, as I have not yet broken a cymbal in my 30 years of playing.
This is a great cymbal pack – very much like the crashes and crisp hi-hats. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Avedis Dark K’s — they’re not top of the line Zildian’s (versus Constantinople’s) but they are a great mid-level cymbal pack. The reason I rated this pack a 4 is because for me, as more of a rock drummer, the dark K Ride Cymbal just washes into the background – it’s hard to hear the stick striking the cymbal. I have switched my sticks to the Vic Firth Dave Weckl brand (heavier stick with wood tips) and that helps. But I’d rather have a ride cymbal with greater range of tones and more crisp stick definition. I may end up buying a Zildian “Constantinople” once I save up enough pennies (lots and lots of them!!). Anyway, it’s a great pack overall – excellent value for the money.
Ordered these as a gift for my son. He is very happy with them. Bought them to replace a bag full of cymbals that were stolen out of his vehicle. He couldn’t be happier – early Christmas gift.
The tone and balance of this cymbal set feels like they will work for many situations for a long time to come in a working band. The 14″ hats in this set have great tone and response, and are a fairly known quantity themselves. In my opinion they could stand to push a bit more volume live only at certain times, but the tone makes me forgive that and be fine with adjusting my playing a bit when needed. All I can go by for real is what other musicians have said after hearing them out front the first time they were used live. Clarity was mentioned a lot, both crashes. Balanced was mentioned too. The sweet ride works well, although over time I could see myself looking for something that splashes even quicker. That said, the comments from out front were very positive for the ride as well, it works for me. One thing a bit weird is that the crashes shred sticks if you are an edge player, worse than others I’ve played. It’s not chronic or anything, just something I noticed. Solution: buy more sticks…. I’d recommend these to anyone looking to upgrade their kit and get decent balance in the bargain and great hats that have stood the test of time. These will certainly open you up to the next level in your playing.
Great, great set of cymbals. The ride is slightly brighter than I expected, but still very nice. The darker 21/22 in K custom ride is probably a bit more deeper and versatile, but I love everything about the crashes and dark hats 🙂
Overall a very good set of cymbals. Although, with the packs, the customer must know that it unlikely that every one of the cymbals will be perfect for his/her desired sound.
Hats: Hats sound good, but not great. Very crisp response but a bit high pitched. You won’t find the darkness or depth of color that the other series of cymbals exhibit. Great for metal, rock and funk, but not a great fit for darker/softer styles.
18″ crash: Best cymbal in the set. The 18in crash can be used in so many different scenarios its insane. I love playing this cymbal. Use it into fills, out of fills, in chorus lines, as a quarter note crash pulse in verses, whatever. It is, by far, the best in the bunch. Play it loud, play it soft, it still speaks very well.
20″ ride: The ride is pretty good. The bell won’t be heavy or piercing so if you’re expecting that, it’s not gonna be here.
16″ crash: Possibly my least favorite of the bunch. It’s an okay cymbal. The sustain is shorter than I’d like and the attack is not as brilliant as I expected. It seems to only sound good when struck hard and speaks poorly when using a softer touch. It’s a good complement to the 18″ crash to spice up the mix, however, I’m looking to get the 17″ K custom hybrid as a replacement.
If you know you want to do more musically than play the popular drum styles, this set will likely not suit all your needs. But it’ll come close.
Amazing set! I love these cymbals great sound and look. I have been playing for over 10 years but have a hard time describing the sound cymbals just know in my opinion these are the best cymbals money can buy. I have owned and played shows with Ks but these a custom are just the right sound for me. I play mostly rock/screamo and hardcore not quite metal. These give me the perfect “bright” sound if you wanna call it that . I learned to play only on mostly high end stuff Ks and As until I got too old for my rents too buy me cymbals anymore. Went down to guitar center and bought what I could afford ZHTs NOT GOOD! I suffered for two years on those things til I finnally saved up the scratch to get this set and %15 percent of cyber Monday was awesome. Best money I ever spent. If you are a seriouse drummer nothing will make you happier than getting yourself this set of cymbals. My Christmas was getting these cymbals and truly enjoying my drum sets sound again!
Thanks Zildjian and Amazon!
Got this pack to replace our aged, cracked cymbals for our church drum set. They are beautiful cymbals. The sound is vibrant and bright. Absolutely love these cymbals!
The cymbals are brand new and shiny!!! I Love it! Plus the price is very good. I recommend to every drummer!
Perfectos.
I’ve used other brands before and they are good. but out of the major brands I’ve used,Zildjian is the best and its clear and non confusing as to the different styles of cymbal and level of cymbal are the right ones. And these are fantastic. I hear always that A customs are too brittle and break within the first month. But the are only too brittle if your playing one of the many forms of Metal. I play many types, mostely progressive punk. So these are a boss choice for my foray into high end gear. It works great for my strange genre
