Very happy with the binoculars and additional extras for using my mobile phone for photos
I bought these for around 56 on Amazon recommendation, they’re incredibly easy to use give crystal clear vision even working over sea glare, I’m a whale spotter and these are perfect, a fantastic buy, I don’t rate fixed focus binoculars esp if you have vision issues, the diopter on these is incredibly sharp… Why pay in excess of 1k for nothing but a name …
These are easy to hold weigh the same as their market competition…buy them and see… literally !!
I use these binoculars for bird watching, very pleased with my purchase.
Did have a couple of problems, one is the instruction leaflet is all in German, only really needed the English for setting up Tripod & camera mounts which I have now sussed out.
The biggest problem was the tripod to binocular adapter which others have complained about.
Firstly the screw hole where it fits to binoculars sits in A recess and the part of the adapter that fits there is too big, the thread comes out 1/4 inch which is standard.
My answer to this problem was to reduce the part of the adapter that fits there by carefully grinding it down with my Dremel, as you can see in the photo’s it now fits into the recess which means the screw is now long enough.
Tried different binoculars over the years. These are the best by far, feel good quality, good zoom, perfect for fin spotting or bird watching. You definitely won’t regret buying.
It made an immediate impression on me. I took it out, went to my back yard and see my neighbors crystal clear. JKD. I’m no peeping Tom. But the binoculars were very good, not heavy. The view and focus is satisfying. I don’t know why some of the poor reviews.
Very happy customer. Brilliant for looking at birds and wildlife
Really impressed with these binoculars. The price was about righ
A nice product and they even give an unlimited and unconditional lifetime warranty. I have only one issue though: a small part was missing; it’s a little threaded bolt that secures your iphone to the cradle used for taking photos via the binoculars.
Very good clear view light weight very nice binoculars excellent delivery Five sta
Bought these to bird watch in my garden. They are so easy to set up and use. The vision is crystal clear. Phone attachment is a bit tricky but, it does work a treat. Not used at night so can’t comment on the night vision.
Nice and easy to set up and look very nice. Easy to set up the tripod and connect the phone, only had a little play around with that though but easy enough. Not used at night really so cant say as it’s been cloudy every night since I got them . Very happy with the purchase .
After a little hiccup with my order.
It was sorted within a day and I could not have wished for a better service.
Amazing binoculars hubby was really pleased with them. Looking for some for ages, so just pefec
Easy to adjust and a clear view. They are light and compact and come with a case, small tripod and phone attachment to take photos. Very pleased with them.
I am no expert on binoculars but I can tell you that I’m absolutely delighted with quality of these. Big and bright image near and far. Excuse the ‘pun’ but this product goes a long way. Well recommended !! Many thanks to Adasion.
This was a present for my partner and he is delighted with them. They are easy to use and he has enjoyed watching the birds in the garden. The clarity and magnification is excellent.
They were so difficult to use so much bits and bobs to put on the binoculars so they went back got a refund
To be honest at first I bought this Binoculars just for watching, not taking photos, and then suprisingly I found it can perfect match my phone, and be my “telephoto lense”, compare to real telephoto lense, this combo is lightweight and versatile. Sometimes I don’t bring the phone adapter and tripod, just bring this Binoculars for hiking or adventures, it also helps me a lot, totally worth buying:)
I like the product and that it came with a tripod that I can sit on my desk and that it has an attachment for my phone so that I can look at what my binocular see without having to put my eyes to the lens. Then the little remote clicker is great for taking photos so that I don’t have to touch my phone because it would wiggle. The main reason I bought it is to look at my bluebird house out my window while I am at my desk. I took it out last night to look at the full moon and it was amazing! Grace at customer service was very helpful and sent me the remote clicker.
Binoculars have a sharp picture, feel pretty solid, and are reasonable enough that i don’t feel bad leaving them in my car all year as opposed to a super high end pair.
The picture adjustments all provide resistance but move smoothly. Makes it pretty easy to focus. You can easily read license plates a few houses down. I liked the integrated eye cups that rotate in an out instead of the old school flap over ones my old binoculars have.
The phone adapter held my Pixel 3 just fine and you can see a regular vs phone-through-binocular picture that i attached. Their 12x is a little tough to keep steady but is a nice zoom if you put your elbows on something.
The case holds everything (strap & phone adapter). Its not very padded but serves its purpose in my glove box. The rubber lens covers it comes with should makes up for the thin case.
Overall seems like a decent value.
EDITED to 5 Stars*
I contacted the seller about the issue we had below. They sent a brand new one within 48hrs. So while our first one broke easily due to missing screws, they replaced it and stand by their product. Great to see!
2 stars**Ordered back in November for a Christmas present. Started using the product end of December. Only used a handful of times. Today went to raise the eye piece for viewing and the one side just came off and is now broken. For the money spent on them I expected them to last longer than a few months. They haven’t even been used outdoors yet. Just inside through the window for bird watching during the winter.
What you can see distance and quality wise was great and is why I gave the 2 stars. But very disappointed they broke so quickly when they were not abused or mishandled for use.
These are great for seeing a loooong way away. Just got back from hunting and could easily see Elk for miles and miles away. Highly recommend.
I bought this for my 10 years old daughter for her birthday as a bit of fun in lockdown. Highly recommend this, not child toy though.
These are perfect for viewing birds at my backyard feeder. Very light, and I’ve even taken some decent photos by using the included adapter to use it with my iPhone.
Very good binoculars, very easy to use, well made and excellent viewing, comfortable to use when wearing glasses, highly recommend
Good weight for bird watching and the image quality is excelle
I have thoroughly enjoyed these binoculars from the ease of setup to actual use searching the beaches of OC for pinnipeds in distress. Bright sharp images without too much contrast(+ in my opinion as it is easier to see into the shadow areas on bright sunny days). They seem very well made and if used in conjuction with a chest pouch the eye caps have tabs that catch on the case as you’re pulling out the binoculars, automatically removing the lens caps(held on by a loop of rubber so as not to lose) making the binoculars ready to use in a very quick fashion. In the past I’ve spent several hundred dollars on binoculars and these are clearly the wiser choice for price:quality. They are 90% there for a fraction of the price. Beyond this they have a hassle-free life-time warranty that I can attest to and the company has great, quick customer service to get you back in the field if you do happen to drop them down a cliff on accident or whatever the case may be!
I am very satisfied with this purchase and the company as a whole!
I love these binoculars. It comes with high-quality lens and the weight is light. The phone adapter is easy to use and it fits my iPhone 11 perfectly. It can be used at both day and night time. I used it to observe moon at night and birds during the day. By using the phone, I can observe things together with my family and they really like it.
Wanted a good pair of binoculars without breaking the bank. They’re great!! The view is crystal clear and bright.
They’ve exceeded my expectations. The images are so sharp and the binoculars are very lightweight, no problem holding them up for long periods of time.
They come in a case with a strap, plus a comfy neck strap you attach to the binocs, a phone attachment, instruction book, and a lense cleaner cloth. There are nice soft black rubber caps for the eyepieces and the ends of the lenses.
I can see details on leaves on a plant trellis at least 1 1/2 acres away.
You can wear glasses with these. Just twist the “eye masks” (eye cups) in or out to adjust for wearing glasses. I was worried about this, but I can keep my glasses on and the binoc eyepieces don’t scratch or smear my glasses lenses.
The little instruction book has all the info you need to use them, they’re easy to focus.
In the little book page 03 they tell you how to get a free tripod or phone adapter no charge. I emailed them and customer service replied with a kind, friendly message in less than a day. That’s how customer support should be. My free tripod is in the mail.
I surfed the web for reviews on these binocs besides checking out what buyers said on Amazon. Reviewers on the Web like them too. Outdoorsly.com listed these as one of the 10 Best Binoculars for Bird Watching, “Best Binoculars with Phone Holder” and Bestviewsreviews.com ranked these #3 out of 40, 9.9 out of 10.0 for Best Binoculars of 2021.
The other binoculars that got good reviews cost a lot more. The price on these plus the sharp clear image makes them a very, very good deal.
Good value and well made.
Can’t really give a review as I bought 2 as gifts. Just hoping they work as well as blurb says
I really like these binoculars. I made the mistake of buying a single lense binocular before and it was very difficult to look through and focus. When you got it in focus the depth of field was very short making you refocus again and again while the surroundings were all blurry. With these binoculars the depth of field is much enlarged and everything is in focus, front and rear.
My other important comment is my wife is very satisfied! When she tried to look through my single lense binoculars she said “I can’t see a thing, these are useless”! When my Adasion binoculars came, the first thing I did was get my wife, have her view through them and asked “can you see anything”? And she answered and said “I can see everything”! What more can you add? The brightness, clarity and depth of field are great.
One more positive remark. I saw in the reviews that there was a possibility of having Adasion send a gift of a tripod, but were not sure if they still provided it. The day I received my binoculars I wrote an email to them to see if the offer still existed.
The very next day I received a response back and they said that they were happy to provide me with the tripod (even as it was more difficult during these hard economical times).
Their life time warranty covers everything for as long as you have the binoculars! I am thankful for this company and their dedication to their customers, as well as selling their products at a reasonable price.
You have to properly adjust the pivot that controls the distance between left/right eye. Some people have eyes further or closer apart than others. You only do this once unless you ever move it. You must also adjust the left eye versus right eye focus next. Some of us have different eye sight in left to right eye. Theses handy adjustments on each eye piece allows adjusting to synchronize the binoculars to each eye individually which is awesome. Again, like the previous adjustment is only done once.
If you do these additional steps I promise you will have a great viewing experience because these binoculars are just as clear as much more expensive ones. Remember you also have the ring on each eye that you can twist outward to extended so your eyes and eyelashes are not too close to the lens.
You will be amazed how far and clear you’ll be able to see. Just remember the stronger binoculars you use the steadier your hand needs to be. If your viewing experience is too shaky, simply use a tripod for binoculars. You’ll love these
Finding these was way too easy. This review may seem way overboard but considering the quality and price- I am joining the other fans and the high ratings!
Putting in the search for binoculars with highest reviews and possibility of using a cell phone for photos….. done. A small number of the highest rated binoculars came up but very, very few at anything close to this price.
The fact that the ratings encompassed outstanding quality and outstanding customer service while being far, far less expensive made me purchase very quickly thinking this might be the last pair left . Not even close! These are the real deal. Not only are we incredibly impressed- they send you a thank you gift and follow up to make sure you are content with the purchase.
The fit for your face is easy and tight to maintain the position so if you put them down and pick them up- they don’t have to be readjusted. The focus is fantastic…. the coated lenses give such a vivid and clean/clear view! Though I have only practiced with the cell mount and haven’t taken a worthy photo to share yet- my test photos are perfect! Even zooming in with my iPhone, I don’t find pixel distortion.
The lens covers can remain hanging or easily removed and put back on. The finish and quality is solid. The carrying case works great and looks great!
Overall- this purchase has been one of the best experiences on Amazon.
Great product and great people.
The cell phone attachment was a little difficult initially, but since I figured it out, it was pretty easy to get placed correctly and fairly quickly. Once I got it attached, it took about 5 minutes for me to have a set of pretty amazing photos right from my back yard. I’ve attached one of the half Moon taken with only 3x zoom on my cell phone camera through the binoculars. I’ve also attached a photo taken just through my cell phone camera with full zoom (Galaxy s21+). I’m very, very excited to see what other amazing photos I can get with a little more knowledge and practice using these. Will update when I do.
The 12×42 Powerful HD Binoculars by Adasion fit the bill.
I only did a test run in and around my home looking around, adjusting the lens to test for comfort and clarity.
What I found with my very limited casual assessment:
Pros: Binoculars are packaged with lens caps and a lens cleaner, a strap, a cellphone adaptor, and a carry bag. Plus a tiny instruction booklet. The lens adjusted easily. The textured grip on the binoculars feels good to the hand.
Cons: The instruction booklet was skimpy and did not do a thorough job explaining how to use the cellphone adaptor. (An online search provided some help there). Nor did the booklet explain how to attach the strap sufficiently. (Also solved via an online search.)
It is important to note that at 1.2 pounds, these are not light weight, but they are within a comfortable range for portability.
These are decent binoculars and it appears they will serve the intended purpose.
For many uses, these are good binoculars. They have a lot of features that are useful, like a good carrying case, and the lens covers that won’t get lost unless you’re really careless. The focusing and diopter adjustment work well.
Now, here’s why these binoculars cost so little. The optics are not well corrected. I noticed this while looking at a raven backlit against a cloudy sky. At the absolute center of the field of view, the image was clear and free of distortion or chromatic aberration (colored fringing). But if the image is off center at all, chromatic aberration appears quickly. Many telescopes/rifle scopes/camera lenses have some chromatic aberration at the very edges, say the outer 5-10% of the image. In these binoculars, I’d say about 50-60% of the image has some chromatic aberration.
These binoculars also have a very unforgiving eye box. That means that your eyes have to be in exactly the right place in relation to the lenses to have a clear, unobstructed field of view. I’m no binocular snob, but every other pair I’ve ever had give you more flexibility in this regard. That means you can hinge/flex them out or in a little bit more, and still see clearly. With these, you have to be spot on. Rifle scopes usually discuss the size of the eye box in inches. With these binoculars, the eye box seems like it’s fractions of a millimeter. Now, that comparison might not seem fair because scopes are used without pressing the eye to the optic, while you do that with binoculars. Don’t get hung up on that detail. The point is, these are unusually demanding when it comes to getting your eyes in just the right place in relation to the lenses compared to other binoculars I’ve used. Get them off axis a bit, and you’ll introduce light or dark blobs in the image at the least, or see nothing at all.
So why did I give these four stars? Well, there are a lot of situations that mask the chromatic aberration problem, as the photos many users have posted show. Colorful scenes with a lot going on tend to hide that flaw. High contrast scenes with sharp dark areas next to brighter areas make chromatic aberration stand out. And if you get the binoculars set up well, and never let anyone else use them, the fussy eye box won’t bother you much. I’ve just described a lot of users.
If you want better optics, you’re going to pay more. If the optical issues I’ve described don’t bother you, you’ll likely be very happy with these binoculars. They seem well made, and have a lot of features for the money.
The focus is easy to adjust, precise, and “holds”- meaning if you let go of the control, it stays where you put it, unlike other cheap binoculars.
They are lightweight at about 1.5 lbs with the strap, carrying case, and phone holding accessory, however they not feel ‘light” when you are using them, they feel substantial and solid.
I am using them to peer into the woods and look at the various wildlife from deer to squirrels to racoons and owls and they are AMAZING- clear even in twilight. I also use them to watch the birds at the bird feeders. but since the feeders are less than 10’ away, these are almost too strong, I can’t get the whole feeder into the view- but I get some amazing closeup looks at the birds!
As far as the accessories-
I cannot rate the tabletop photography kit, as it has not arrived (I won it from Adaison).
The binocular case is a nice water resistant, felt lined black canvas-style case with a shoulder strap. Nothing fancy, but doesn’t need to be,
The enclosed neck strap needs attached to the binoculars and was a touch fiddly to do, but once attached feels very secure and has a nice padded portion for where it rests against your neck.
The lens covers fit tight, but not too tight and have spots to attach lanyards/the neck strap (I know I would lose them if they don’t stay with the binocs)
The only piece that came with the binocs that feels a bit lackluster is the phone holder. It has the typical “universal phone clamp” and it does hold the phone. However, it hold it side to side.. and once attached to the binoculars, has a tendency to slide so the viewfinders no longer line up. The clamp is not big enough to clamp a Galaxy phone from top to bottom, and even if it could, for my phone, it would interfere with the viewfinder lining up with the binocs. I like the binocs enough that this is just a minor irritation and I think I will try and McGuyver something to make it work.
I am very impressed with the design details, retractable eye cups, focusing rings, difficult-to-lose lens caps, and overall pleasing appearance and comfortable feel. The rubberized finish promises ruggedness and water resistance although neither have been tested yet.
My binoculars came with a bonus mobile phone mount which looks too simple to work but actually with a little practice yields some excellent results (see attached shots). The closeup shot has a total magnification (phone zoom + binocular) of around 40x. Tripod mount and tripod strongly recommended!
Pros: good quality image, sturdy- well made, easy to adjust, good viewing range, and phone adapter works well if you have a steady hand, if not get the tripod!
Cons: can’t say there really are any.
The spendier ones are noticeably heavier (22 oz. vs. 19 oz.)
The image (to me) was not significantly better.
The right eye focus ring was harder to turn on the $76 binocs.
There was no mark on that ring to indicate where it was adjusted; the $50 binocs had a mark.
I even prefer the eyecup caps on the $50 binocs.
That’s just my opinion, and yours might be different.
Binoculars always have two numbers in the spec, AxB. A represents the magnification — the bigger the number, the more zoomed-in the image looks. B represents the size of the objective lens, which is the piece of glass at the far end of the binoculars. The bigger the number, the brighter and clearer the image looks.
They also have a focus wheel that sits between the two halves, which you’ll have to rotate depending on whether you want to focus on something close or super far away. There’s also usually an additional fine tuner on the right eyepiece that will allow you to adjust for differences between your two eyes. So when using a pair of binoculars for the first time, you should close your right eye and use the focus wheel for just your left eye, and then close your left eye and use the fine tuner for your right eye. After that you can just directly use the focus wheel.
I had an old pair of Bushnell 12×25 binoculars at home before I got this Adasion 12×42 set. Here’s a comparison, with things I learned from experience:
1/ Size: The Adasion is bigger because of the larger objective lens. You can see the size difference in my first picture.
2/ Eyepiece: The Adasion has eye cups that rotate in and out, which give your eyes some breathing distance from the eyepiece lenses. You can see in the second picture the right eye cup has been extended while the left one has not. The Bushnell didn’t have this feature, so my eyelashes were always brushing against the glass, and the glass itself would frequently fog up.
3/ Straps: This seems like a trivial one, but it bothered me more than I expected. Bushnell’s straps attach at the center, while Adasion’s straps attach on each side. This results in the Bushnell hanging somewhat perpendicular to my torso, which makes it really annoying as it bounces along while I walk. The Adasion just lies comfortably flush against my torso.
4/ Protective covers: You can see these in the first picture. Each objective lens has an individual rubber cover that hangs off the end. If you don’t like them, you can remove them — they’re attached by a rubber ring that slides off easily. But I think they’re great and protect the glass from smudges. The eyepiece lenses have a joint cover that you take off completely; I only put it back on when I’m done for the day.
5/ Picture quality: The most important difference. You can see four pictures I took through both binoculars. Interestingly, I found that the Bushnell binoculars were very slightly more magnified than the Adasion. I actually prefer the wider field of view of the Adasion, which is more forgiving of unsteady hands. The Bushnell also starts to get blurry on the edges (see the fence and bench or the floating grass in the fish photo), while the Adasion is much clearer throughout. In addition, colors are a lot brighter through the Adasion, while the Bushnell is a bit faded.
This brings me to my last piece of advice: the smartphone adapter is pretty cool. I had no idea what a phone adapter was in the beginning — I assumed it was some kind of USB cable that digitally connected the binoculars to your phone, and you’d have to download an app or something to take pictures. Nope. So apparently, you can just hold up your phone camera to the eyepiece of any binoculars, have your phone “look” through the binoculars (monocular?), and you simply use the camera app to snap whatever your phone sees. It works surprisingly well as an amateur telephoto lens. That’s all I did to take the pictures from the Bushnell.
Turns out though, it’s kind of hard to hold the binoculars in one hand, your phone in the other, and both steady enough while maneuvering your thumb to snap the photo. It’s flat out impossible to take video. So the purpose of this phone adapter is to make it easier by holding your phone in place. It’s a very simple piece of hardware with a spring-loaded clamp around your phone (both an iPhone 6s and iPhone 11 fit just fine) and a round cap that attaches to either of the binoculars’ eye cups. For best results, attach your phone without the eye cups extended. Righty tighty all the way. I find that provides the optimal phone-to-eyepiece distance for the best view from the camera.
I also did some extra research on phone adapters and tried to buy one for my Bushnell. The universal circular ones have a screw cap where the attachment can be expanded or contracted in order to fit any eye cup. But I actually found that the screw mechanism made the attachment so thick that my phone camera was too far away from the eyepiece to see much through it — all I got was a small hole. In contrast, the adapter that comes with the Adasion was built to fit the Adasion eye cups perfectly. It’s a nice snug fit so your phone (even a heavy iPhone 11) will stay in place at just the right distance from the lens and without needing any hand support.
The last thing I’ll say about the phone adapter is not to be surprised that your picture is a circle in a black vignette. That makes sense, since that’s what you see when your eyes look through the binoculars too. The rectangular photos from other reviews can be produced by either zooming using the camera’s zoom function or just cropping after the fact.
Okay that’s as much as I’ve learned so far through my amateur explorations, hope you’ve found it helpful. 🙂
Then I looked through the lenses, and was amazed. It was easy to fine-tune a sharp picture, absolutely stunning!
I HAD to try out the cellphone attachment. The attached pictures are through my window looking down at a boat 300 feet away, with and without the binoculars. Even the boat numbers are clearly readable on my cellphone. I can only imagine how much better I can do using a tripod and shutter.
PS. One thing I learned is that it’s much easier to fine-tune the focus using the binoculars, then attaching the cellphone.
The only problem I had was that finger-tight setting the set screw holding the holder in place wasn’t enough to keep things lined up when taking it on and off, so I had to adjust it each time. I solved this by lining things up, then tightening it with a pliers.
I could not be happier with them.
As an update: From review of my other unit I dont have this problem with the exception of the loose cell phone attachment.
Build quality is exceptional, plastic body has a wonderful grip and no tool marks at all.
Creature comfort is such a good fit, perfect texture for grip.
2 things to keep in mind when picking this bino:
It is not light like a plastic bino because it is full of high quality glass.
It is a high powered bino, so the down range field of view will be smaller.
Over all I gave this bino a perfect score, because I did not see any shortcoming what so ever.
In case you wear glasses and have different vision number on each eyes, tubes have independent adjust to work for you.
Greatest value and quality, A+++ buy.
I also had to deal with their customer support that you can contact after you purchase the product. I want to tell you I was very much impressed with them. They respond very fast via e-mail and are very accommodative to customer needs. It is very rare these days to have a customer support team that really takes care of their product and have the goal to satisfy the customer.
Thank you Adasion and please stay in business the way you started it.
I didn’t have these when I went to my last baseball game, so the pictures are from a test I conducted in my back yard. I took a picture with no zoom of a paperback book at a distance of about 30′. Then I attached the phone adapter, and took the second picture. The third picture was from trying to maximize the image quality using the phone’s zoom feature to remove the circle, and then adjusting the focus on the binoculars.
The phone adapter takes practice, but the binoculars themselves are easy to use. You can use them with or without glasses, and the instructions are easy to follow, even though the grammar is terrible.
I don’t know much about binoculars, but these will be good for casual users.
While we were hunting in the mountains, we ran across a herd of 18 deer that were too far (600 yards) away to reliably shoot…the deer knew it and we knew it so both groups just stood there looking at each other. At this time, we took about 10 minutes to evaluate the each of the 4 pairs of binoculars while looking at the herd of deer. The 1st pair scored 5/10, the 2nd pair (this one) was 8/10 and the 3rd and 4th pairs were 9/10.
My hunting partners and I were amazed at the clarity and how well this pair of binoculars worked compared to the other pairs that cost 2-4x more money. We were able to use this pair of binoculars to identify at that distance a couple of bucks based on the presence of antlers and that the rest of the 16 deer were does and young spikes, based on the lack of antlers. If I could only buy one pair of binoculars, this would be the one because it is clearly the best value.
These binoculars came with a nice vinyl zip up carry case with neck strap, 4 attached rubber lens covers, a 2nd neck strap, a cleaning cloth, and a device that lets you connect your smart phone to the binoculars to take a picture through one lens. The binoculars adjusted to my right eye by turning one lens and then focused both eyes together for distance with another focus control. I was able to see far away and closer deer without having to adjust the focus. I especially liked the rubber grips on these binoculars that helped me to hold them securely even while my hands were cold and wet. I highly recommend these binoculars to others.
At 12 x 42 they’re small enough (and light enough) for your pack, but still plenty of magnification for the fall. As you can see in some of the pics the level of magnification from pic to glass is pretty solid. You can also see the size of the glass in my hands and how the focus knob is easily in reach. Also does not feel cheaply made or contain those flimsy plastic pieces that inevitably make a product useless.
Also want to point out the grip on them. Makes you feel a little more confident when you’re 20 feet up in a tree.
