Nice to use and has a quality feel to this item.
My only criticism could be the weight of the hand held vacuum is a little weighty on its own when removed from the main frame of the vacuum but no real problem.
I highly recommend this item.
Light weight, easy to use but the power not grea
My sister bought it and showed it to me, I tried it at her house and immediately wanted one! My boyfriend bought it for us and this hoover has made me love hoovering! We have a cleaner and we have a robot hoover/mop and this little guy has finally made me want to hoover myself every day!
It makes hoovering fun!!!
Great quality vacuum, great suction and easy to empty out.
My other vacuum (cylinder) cleaner is also an AEG and is mostly excellent and so I had high expectations of this AEG QX9 ANIM Cordless Vacuum Cleaner and it’s mostly lived up to them, at least in terms of build quality. The packaging is also impressive with everything well protected and cleverly packed inside a branded box which is then placed inside another protective box – not sure how many people give vacuum cleaners as gifts but if you’re planning to then this one is perfectly presented. The thoughtful packaging contains an even more thoughtful cleaner and once assembled you soon realise how much effort’s been put into the engineering and design. It’s basically a large hand cleaner which can be snapped into the frame and used as an upright cleaner and the frame adds a motorised and illuminated brush head to the cleaner.
The frame itself is formed from two elegantly bowed metal struts with a fixed motorised head on the bottom and the handle with two control buttons on the top, the buttons switch it on/off and cycle between three different speed settings. The way the cleaner snaps into the upright frame is one of the most impressive elements of the whole cleaner – I know that sounds like a small detail but with this cleaner there’s no fiddling with latches or having to twist and turn the cleaner through a sequence of unintuitive angles to get it into place. You just place the bottom nozzle into place and push the cleaner between the two metal bows and there’s a little click and it’s done and I bet it took them ages to get it to work like that.
The cleaner itself, used without the upright frame, is quite long but surprisingly easy to manoeuvre and the narrow waist in the middle works as a silicone-covered handgrip. There’s a single button that switches it on/off but there’s just one speed when used as a hand cleaner. Suction is good but to be honest not that exceptional but it’s reasonably quiet, compared to some. Once you’re done the transparent dust chamber clicks out of the main body and you have to manually pull out the filter assembly to empty the waste out. That means your having to handle one of the dusty-ish pieces to empty it but it’s not too bad. One thing I do really appreciate is that they’ve made the dust chamber and cleaner from plastic that (for once!) doesn’t have a significant static charge that causes all the dust and dirt to stick to the outside of the cleaner making it look endlessly grubby. So although emptying it isn’t as simple as it could have been it’s not the messy dusty job it is with some cleaners.
You get a couple of attachments for use with the cleaner when it’s not in the upright frame. The best of these is the upholstery brush which is also motorised and is really excellent at cleaning your couch or car upholstery. I used it on a three piece suite that sits in a room with a log burning stove and was horrified by the amount of sooty dust it removed from the upholstery. So much in fact it blocked the fine particle filter fitted in the dust chamber and I had to wash that out afterwards (then let it dry for 24hrs) to restore full suction. The suite looks much better for it though!
Used in the frame it becomes an extremely manoeuvrable upright cleaner with an effective motorised brush and an LED headlight that actually really makes a difference and reveals all the crumbs on your kitchen floor nicely. On hard floors it feels almost frictionless and zips around with ease but there are little hard wheels fitted under the head and they make a bit of rattle on hard floors, making it sound a bit less-well engineered than it really is. On short pile carpets it’s also quite effective and gathers up fibres and dust well enough. On long pile rugs and carpets it struggles a bit and the spinning brush can easily get a bit wound up and choked with long fibres. However, it also has a built-in solution to that and there’s a button on the corner of the brush-head that you press with your foot which sets the brush spinning and then introduces some kind of cutter which sets about chopping up the stuck fibres. It makes a real racket but it does work. Used as an upright cleaner, especially on the fastest speed, the battery doesn’t last that long and you’d struggle to do a full house on a single charge. It charges up reasonably quickly and the floor stand which doubles as a charging station is a real bonus, you simply back the cleaner into it and it gives a couple of flashes and bleeps to confirm it’s connected and charging.
Overall it’s an exceptionally well designed and made cleaner, one of the best looking I’ve ever seen, but in truth the actual suction and pick-up isn’t much better than a budget cleaner I have that cost half this price. The AEG build quality is on a whole other level and I’d expect this cleaner to last years, something I really don’t expect my budget cleaner to do. It’s a fantastic tidy-up cleaner for when you’re just trying to do a quick clean and get rid of crumbs and dust around the home but it’s not as good as a ‘proper’ mains cleaner, especially on carpets. In the end it depends how much you value good design and build quality, you can get equally effective cleaners for less. However when you compare the cost of this AEG to the utterly ridiculous prices of some Miele and Dyson cordless cleaners it seems like a much better deal, matching their quality while ducking the inflated prices. You pays your money…
I live in a semi-detached house with my partner and 2 cats. We only have laminate, wooden and tiled floors throughout the house, although there are some woven rugs. We had been using our Miele HX1 and Dyson V6 until we got this AEG vacuum. I also prefer stick hoovers as they are much easier to use and store.
I was initally surprised with how small and light this vacuum cleaner was. I did not think it could handle the amount of crumbs/ litter/ hair and fluff our household produces. I set it up in a matter of minutes following easy-to-read picture instructions. The vacuum only took about and hour to charge – which was indicated but three lights on the front. I really liked the washable filter in comparison to the HX1 which is a nightmare to clean and expensive to replace.
The vacuum cleaner is very light and moves around furniture smoothly and easily, this was such a change in comparison to the heavy and clumbersome HX1. I really like the ability of being able to disconnect the middle part of the vacuum to use a handheld device – great for windowsills, stairs and cleaning the car. For sofas there is a special attachment, great for cleaning off pet hair!
The AEG doesn’t scratch any surfaces and feels so smooth. . I especially like the little lights on the bottom of the vacuum cleaner so you can see the bottom while you’re vacuuming it!
However, there were some problems when it came to hoovering the rugs. Unfortunately, the vacuum cleaner didn’t have much strength to actually lift the fibers and debris off and I had to resort to my old vacuum cleaner.
I wouldn’t use it as a main vacuum cleaner in a family home, but it is ideal to complement a heavy duty vacuum cleaner for day to day cleans.I would recommend this vacuum cleaner to the elderly (due to it’s lightness and manouverability) or to those who have an apartment with laminate or wood floors.
I tend to find that most vacuum cleaners tend to block with human hair and pet fur, And eventually breaks down due to clogging and overheating. This hoover does an excellent job at sucking up hair and fur without losing power or going into overdrive.
The vacuum is cordless, Allowing me to use it in the most awkward spaces, Getting into those hard to reach areas with ease. Overall, The design is pretty good and does the same job as other well known branded vacuums. It can spin around 180 degrees, Making it quite easy to use in any area of my home.
When this arrived I put it all together with no issues, I then left it to get to full charge before the first use, I decided I would hoover over my rug with my current one then use this one.
I was shocked with how much this hoover still picked up off the rug telling me my old one had missed dirt/dust.
There is a number of tools provided which I found helpful for when cleaning in tight spots or my stairs, The suction is good and I think this would go great as a quick nip around/crumb clean up each day.
However I do feel its slightly overpriced at the current price of 268.65
This is my first cordless vaccum cleaner. It is lightweight to hold than the traditional ones. It was easy to operate with just a single button press and it moves gently on the carpet and does a decent job. It sucks the hair on the floor. There is a plus and minus button to increase and decrease the suction power. It couldn’t make out a notable difference but it was okay.
The hand held vaccum is detachable from the main part. I used it to clean the nook and corners of the sofa and it did a pretty decent job. There are different nozzles to try on. So you can choose one depending on your usage.
The vaccum cleaner looks sleek and slender and looks stylish.
Now the downsides of it:
The dust collection bin is quite small so you have to empty it once in a while in between cleaning.
Also the battery power, it can come for quite a while. But if you’re a person like me, who gets this obsessive cleaning on a day and when you get your vaccum cleaner and there is no power on it and you have to wait for another 4 hours. I would be quite disappointed.
Overall, I love the design of this cleaner can be used as both handheld and as normal cleaner. Light weight, doesn’t occupy much storage space and a decent suction power.
The AEG QX9 QX9-1-ANIM Cordless Vacuum is a decent allrounder with a few flaws, it arrived well packaged and secured in place.
Inside the box for this particular model is the vacuum unit, vacuum frame, 1 x main brush head that fits to the frame only, then the attachments that fit to the handheld unit only 1 x pet hair nozzle (that works well on the stairs), 1 x crevice nozzle, 1 x bristle nozzle and 1 x dusting brush, 1 x charger and a charging stand (final piece of the stand is under the cardboard at the bottom when you lift it up), the filters are already fitted into the unit.
There are two ways to use the vacuum either in the unit and use it as an upright vacuum or as a handheld, the suction is decent with both options, the heads attach and work well with the bristles picking up hair and other debris, the grip on the handle when using it as a hand held is interesting as it’s wrapped leather, not sure how it will look and feel after a 12 months of being used but it does look and feel nice, the vacuum is easy enough to pop in and out of both combos and the heads are easy enough to swap also.
Everything is well made and feels premium, there’s lights on the main head that light up the area being cleaned and a battery charge indicator at the top, the charging unit works well just sit the upright in position and it hold everything in place and charges at the same time.
The collection bin is only 0.3L and fills up fairly quickly when being used on my upstairs carpets, it performs well but not sure of the one touch bar cleaning as the hair always gets wrapped around the bar and you have to remove it regularly to clean it anyway.
On my downstairs hard floors it performs fine and the bun doesn’t fill up as quickly.
The vacuum has great manoeuvrability with the head being able to tilt well, the battery has around a 55 minute charge that is great! It is quiet compared to my other handhelds and has a 5 stage filtration system! The filters can be removed and washed easily enough (After some practice), when using in upright mode it has 3 speed levels.
Overall a decent vacuum but the handheld grip may deteriorate after a while, the collection bin is a little on the small side and using it has a handheld feels linear and chunky, thank you.
This is the first time I have used a rechargeable vacuum, so I had no previous experiences. I maybe did have a couple of assumptions though.
Firstly, I was not expecting it to be as powerful as my mains powered upright, and in this respect I was right. This AEG vacuum does have good suction and power and it did remove the dog’s hairs from the rugs, though it did take a couple of passes over.
The vacuum can be used as an upright machine or the middle section can be removed from the long handle/ frame and can be used as a smaller handheld vacuum. This is a bit weighty as it obviously does contain the battery.
The box that this vacuum arrived in is sturdy and the contents were in great condition. Included was a base plate to stand the vacuum in to recharge, tools, two different heads and the charger and manual. This is actually very easy to use and set up. I did check the manual for removing the dust collector and to see how to clean the filters.
This does have a small dust collector and I think it is about the right size for a quick whizz around the home. I am using this for doing the stairs with the smaller vacuum head-on and then I attach it into the frame and hoover around the three bedrooms and bathroom. It has made cleaning the stairs much easier and I am not having to flick cables over bannisters.
I am very impressed with this machine. it is easy to set up and use, quick to empty and easy to clean the filters. The attachments are good, I would have preferred it if there was somewhere on the base/ stand to keep the tools but it’s not a deal-breaker.
I have found this to be a good machine, it came with a small amount of charge and didn’t take long to fully charge. It is a good all-around machine that will be ideal for using as an everyday vacuum or for taking out to the car, caravan, motorhome.
I do like this and I would happily recommend it.
This vacuum cleaner is extremely powerful and ideal for use at home or for your car.
It is brilliant on hard floors and sucks up dirty/dust very well indeed.
Its seems very powerful for something really small.
First off though, it is a very well made piece of equipment with a decent array of tools.
The bin capacity is surprisingly large and enough for our house with 3 floors.
I like that its lightweight so its good for cleaning the stairs as if its heavy it can be tiring.
Well thought out. Assembly was a doddle – its almost ready to run when it comes out of the box.
I recently had the opportunity to test-drive an AEG FX9
and was very impressed with the machine. This AEG QX9
has a somewhat “slimmer” design and seems to have
a tad greater manoeuvrability than the FX9 (but there’s not
much in it). The motor is powerful and picks up dust,
grit and fluff from hard floor, carpets and rugs.
Tigs The Cat is forever scattering bits of cat litter, which
get stuck in his paws, around the house and the hoover
deals with that little problem with ease, as well as making
quick work his disgarded fur. The machine is good at getting
under furniture and into tight corners. The natty “headlights”
also reveal what might have remained hidden in the shadows!
I have questions about its long-term robustness based on one
other reviewer’s experience but am prepared to give the hoover
the benefit of the doubt for now and I guess time will tell.
All-in-all an impressive product. Easy to charge and a pleasure to use.
I like it.
Pros
– this cleaner is light and narrow so it is easy to store. I don’t have much storage space and I love the fact that this cleaner just fits in a little corner of my cleaning cupboard.
– it is easy to manoeuvre around furniture and it’s very easy to hoover the stairs. If you are not very strong you will love this cleaner as it is so much lighter and easier to handle than most upright cleaners.
– the battery life is very good. I can hoover the entire house a couple of times before I need to think about recharging it (I could probably go longer than that).
– it is easy to empty etc.
Cons
– the suction power isn’t great, especially when compared to a conventional cleaner that you need to plug in. It’s not a huge issue for me because I don’t have pets or kids so my home does not get that dirty. However, I am not sure I would recommend this to someone with pets etc.
– I do think it is a bit overpriced. If the suction was a lot more powerful it might be worth the money.
Firstly, the design, hats of to the design team, it’s lightweight, rather futuristic looking but tasteful, sleek and fits in the corner of our airing cupboard with ease.
The attatchments are good quality and easy to use with the removed part of the machine ( see video).
Suction is great, a button allows three different seetings for suction.
Very, very easy to use, glides along, the manouverability of this machine is extremely good.
After charging it runs for about an hour, easy to fit into dockin for charging and once charged it ceases drawing power.
It really comes into its own when the central part of the machine is seperated ( see video) and the attachments are used, each of which is easy to fit and remove, dusting is almost fun!
I note some reviewers are not impressed, my own experience obviously differs, I think this is a very impressive, brilliantly designed vac.
S.R.J
Over the years we have had many vacuum cleaners; large home vacuums and a variety of mini car vacuums — this is the first time we have tried a ‘cordless’ home vacuum.
Comparing the size to a regular home vacuum, this is so much slimmer and narrower — as it is expected, and meant to be. This makes it perfect if you have limited space or like us, a small property to keep clean.
It is very easily put together and as described, it is multi-functional; a lightweight cordless whole vacuum or a handheld one which is built into the body of the main one. It is a fabulous design — well thought out.
Don’t expect it to be nearly as powerful as the regular household type as it’s not intended to be like that but having tried it out for the second time today, we are very happy with it. Having it plugged into a socket in my craft room for charging, just slide it off and use straight away; no unwinding a long unnecessary cord.
We only have carpets not wooden flooring but it just glides over — I didn’t realise until the second time of using it that there is a plus and minus button below the start button which increases the power. Not an enormous amount but enough to make a difference. And it is wonderfully quiet!
It doesn’t take long at all to run this little thing around the home so I cannot vouch for the running time — If you do need to do many rooms, at least you can just pop it on and off the charging port in between rooms to keep charged. The dust collection bin (not sure of correct term) is only small so you may need to empty it between rooms to maintain full suction.
I was very surprised when I finished using it as looking at the brush it had done a fabulous job of not only picking up lots of loose sewing thread from my craft room but there was also quite a bit of my own hair! So, it certainly does pick up hair etcalbeit mostly around the brush but it is the same with many vacuums.
It does manoeuvre very well — tilt the main body and the brush goes in and around furniture very well. Also, of course the hand-held part in the centre which is excellent. You can use the small pet hair brush or the other attachments. I have to say, my favourite is the attachment is the red brush; it is so soft and when using it (obviously attached to the hand-held part), you can feel it just gliding along the surface and you can feel the air holding it close whilst picking up the dust.
Initially, I was querying the price point with it being not as powerful as a regular vacuum and the size etc but after using it properly, we can see the technology and design is great and being cordless and slimline makes a huge difference and takes up minimal space for a vacuum.
As long as you don’t expect that all-mighty power machine than I certainly can recommend this — in particular I think would be great on wooden flooring as you don’t have to get deep down into the pile of a carpet.
