Delivery was excellent, DPD.
Only used once on a lawn about the size of 2 tennis courts. As expected needed to stop alot to empty the collection box despite bring a good size.
Pleaed with the results.
Neat machine, unfortunately the Germans had sent a full shipment without power cables, thankfully Godfreys were able to sent a cable from their stock the next day. Thank you
scarifies and aerates , really does a quality job, very robus
This does an amazing job. I have used both attachments which are easy to change over.only down side for me is that the grass box does not hook in particular easy and it is a little big for my lawn size but that’s no fault of the product . I should have done a better check
This is a really good buy. It took me around 10-15 minutes to scarify my lawn. Last year I did this manually and it seemed to take all day. Not to mention very exhausting. This machine is definitely worth it! The amount it took out of the lawn was amazing
I cannot believe how much moss this pulled out of my lawn, and that is only on the second highest setting. At the moment I have actually found the bag fills too quickly and, if you use it without the bag, the rear guard drops down and causes it to block. I use a bungee cord to hold the guard a few inches from the ground then manually rake the moss up afterwards. Doing that is still better than raking the moss out manually Hopefully, after a few treatments, the bag can be used as recommended.
Our lawn is full of weed and moss and this scarifier is certainly turfing them out although I find that I will need to do the job over a few months otherwise it will strip the lawn completely. Very easy to assemble and is a joy to use.
Great product and does the job very well, don’t bother with anything else
Always broke my back with a rake but no more! I filled two wheelie bins full with moss that this machine raked up it was brilliant- I didn’t realise that I didn’t have much grass at all – was quite a shock at how bald my lawn was BUT Grass regrowing and increasing in percentage/ratio, so hopefully I’ll have a stronger lawn with moss losing the battle thanks to this machine
Worked well in the heavy moss we had. Did over 300 wheelbarrow loads in the first day. Churned down into the soil after 3/4 passes. Only down side is the collection bag at the back isnt big enough. So used a larger lawnmower as a hoover.
This has been a joy to use. So far , so very good.
Arrived promptly and in good packaging.
Was easy enough to assemble although the instructions aren’t very clear, the diagrams leave a lot to be guessed.
The rake attachment was excellent at scarifying (de thatching) the lawn. The other attachment which I assume is to aerate the lawn essentially dug it up, it looked more like I had ploughed a field. Luckily I used it on an area of compacted mud that I needed to seed so worked well in the end.
Top tip, use on the very highest setting first (highest up from the ground) then work your way down, otherwise it’ll scalp even the most slightly raised part of the lawn.
I had been mulling over purchasing one of these for a while and finally when I did I was really pleased with results. It certainly does pull a lot of debris out, but bear in mind it is a wide tool so it covers quite a lot of ground. The double of functionality (weed/moss and scarification) is really handy for lawn treatment either in the spring or autumn. I used it about four weeks ago and following reseeding and dressing of the lawns the results are excellent! This piece of kit knocks spots off my old machine! I was considering the petrol version for the additional weight in the machine, but it really isn’t necessary for domestic use. I registered the machine with Alko online and you get a decent warranty with it. I would also add that the build quality is very good compared to some manufacturers, it really feels sturdy and is well made. can’t fault it!
Easy to assembly and use with 5 settings to suit the lawn requirements both on the scarifier and the rake. As the lawns hadn’t been scarified for a while an enormous amount of moss & thatch was removed. best if you have a collection point at the end of each leg of the lawn- save excess walking and quickens the process.
Have neglected lawn for several years with regard to moss and thatch. Need to deal with 120 sq metres so after assembling decided to test with 10 sq metres. Absolutely superb result so now have to spend time on the rest. Would recommend this product to anyone!!
I’ve got a large back and front garden. It did a very good job. I did find it was a bit fiddly taking the grass box off. Apart from that I’m very happy with it.
Very good piece of equipment and does the job extremely well. I was a little fearful it would rip up the lawn, but it took out what was required and meant the whole process from tining, raking, over seeding to top dressing was done in a fraction of the time it used to take me completing it all by hand. Bag collects all debris very efficiently, but just be careful it doesn’t get too full when tining, as it does understandably generate a lot of soil and can be quite heavy. No such issues when using the rake. The machine has a powerful motor and occasionally runs away with you, especially on shorter runs, as I only have a small lawn – a gradual increase in power would be helpful. Also just be careful to ensure you don’t catch the electric cable as the cable tidy does slide around a lot when the machine is operating. Whilst a robust piece of kit it is a touch too lightweight and on high settings i.e. 1 or 2, it can tip backwards when the bag is in place. That said, it is well built and is a doddle to switch from rake to scarifier and vice versa, unlike some of its competitors. Finally, It would helpful if the machine assembly guide was accompanied by some text and not totally reliant on a series of slightly confusing illustrations. Whilst there are some shortcomings, if used sensibly it is a great piece of kit.
What a machine!!!! I have a lawn approx 1/3 of a acre and this thing is effortless. Very powerful yet light so it’s easy to push round. Great very sturdy grass box which is large too. My last one I was forever emptying it! Also it comes with a aerator blades which are very good quality. I am very impressed
The setting up instructions which are merely a lot of disjointed pictures could be better. I have only used the raker so far and it works fine, although is heavy to push (I am elderly) and the collection bag inevitably needs empting very frequently or else risks depositing mounds of moss/grass onto the lawn. The flimsiness of the collection bag is disappointing (solid plastic would have been far better) and provision of a power lead tidy would have been useful to avoid the lead tangling up. But so far it has done what it is supposed to do so fingers crossed.
Good piece of equipment cleared a large area for seeding wildflower. Took off a lot of material but needed to empty the grass catcher every couple of meters.
As with any electric lawn-rake/scarifier you have to be prepared to empty the bag at regular intervals, but that’s relatively easy and it’s worth the effort.
This is by a long shot the best grass care combi I’ve used.
The large and firm fit grass box picks up and holds a lot of grass, similar to my power mower.
Only criticism is you need to keep it as level as possible otherwise it can gouge a little too deep, but that’s the same with similar machines………. go for it it’s a good machine.
Does exactly what it says, a great machine for the job. Light, manoeuvrable and very easy to use. Much more convenient than petrol and range with the correct electricity extension. Cut out mechanism to avoid accidents.
Easy assembly, light and does the job well. Long electric cable too. Great for medium gardens. Used the Raker / aerator which pulls up lots of thatch.
Quick and easy to assemble. Scarification was effective and the grass box takes a good volume of thatch. Overall a very good buy.
UPDATE – I have downrated because the catcher came apart after about one season. It relied on a flimsy plastic strip running along the bottom edge of the opening. Once this had come away, the catcher was unusable. It isn’t critical as it is just as rake up the catchings, at least if you are doing a heavy scarify.
I spent a long time researching the different options and I think this was a good choice. My lawn is 100′ x 100′ and was full of weeds. I put weedol down and iron sulphate a couple of weeks before scarifying (the recommended 3 days is not enough) and I was amazed that the machine lifted all the weeds and most of the moss – though it took 3 passes.
Be aware that scarifying is only a tiny part of the work. Most of the effort goes into getting the spoil from the lawn to the compost heap. Depending on the condition of your lawn there may be a huge quantity of it. I filled at least 50 bulk bags, far too many for the collection bins or to take to the dump so I ended up judiciously using it to terraform an ugly corner of my garden. With the collector on I was emptying it every 5 paces (this increased to about 10 on the second pass and 15 on the third, but it was still lifting a huge amount). I also tried leaving it off and raking and gathering. It is hard to say which is quicker. Raking is more effort but more rewarding as it is really annoying turning the machine off every 10 seconds, and bending down to unhook the catcher. If it isn’t too obvious to state, the conclusion is that the size of the collector is much more important than the width of the blades.
You will need an extension cable for all but the smallest of lawns.
Expect your lawn to look like a ploughed field when you have finished. If it doesn’t, you haven’t done it correctly. Mine recovered quickly and started to look like grass again, minus the weeds, after about 10 days.
I bought this scarifier after deciding petrol ones were too expensive for personal use; twice a year. Assembly is a doddle ; takes about 10 minutes and you’re ready to go. I have about 3/4 of an acre of lawn so thought the machine would be a its limit but it didn’t even break a sweat. It was using the scarifying mode and has 5 settings depths and heeding advice I’d read online I set it to the shallowest depth (1). It is not an exaggeration to say it pulled out an IMMENSE amount of thatch so the clippings bin fills very quickly. Removing the collection box and just leaving the raked-out thatch on the lawn creates a huge raking burden and the best method I found is to have very garden waste bags dotted around the lawn so you can just empty into the nearest one (look up Vine Rituals 272 litre bin bags; they stand up for easy emptying) Really delighted with the product – delivered so much more than I was expecting. Top job.
I am very pleased with the scarifier it worked very well, the width of cut is larger than the other makes I looked at.
The unit is quite expensive but it scarifies and rakes which a lot of cheaper models do not do, all in all you get what you pay for.
Wow does this do its job , got loads of rubbish out ofthe lawn.
Brilliant machine.
Can’t fault it,well made, simple to assemble does a great job.
Must be the best out there, highly recommended. I’m
Easy to use and very good does the job very quickly worth the time it takes to put it togethe
I was reluctant to buy an electric machine as I always buy petrol power machine for a fairly large garden. However it is amply powerful. The only minor issues are mentioned in other reviews. It so successfully remove moss and thatch that you have to empty the bag every few yds and it does not work well without it because of a strong spring. Overall I wish that I had bought it earlie
EXCELLENT 2 IN 1 MACHINE. POWERFUL AND RUGGED. HAD THIS ONE 2 YEARS AND STILL GOING STRONG!
Works really well both the blades and the rake. Could do with better storage for the cable. I would like to see a brush attachment for paving etc.
Very good product just pay attention when you are using as it is very powerful and if you use too high a setting could take too much out of your lawn.
Is pretty good at removing the moss from the lawn, however as with all moss removal the bin is just not big enough. takes plenty of emptying and be prepared to fill your wheely bin and a lot of large garden waste bags
Very good indeed does the job well very easy to use light handles well stores away in small area after use
