Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat set and feel mesh heads nice! Sound? Just ok
The heads and the feel are really nice but the sounds in the module are pretty basic cheesy quality good for beginners and practice but this set is like 4 steps up from their entry level so we should expect a bit more of tone from the module for me they work great because I use them to trigger my drum software in my Daw to record. If you are planning on playing out then perhaps look at picking up a used better module like Crimson and you’ll be set
If your new at drumming then the metronome and songs inside the module will help you learn.. nuff said!

    Magnificent!
What a great drum set! Easy to assemble, easy to use. Expandable, I added an extra ten inch drum. It sounds really great through my amp (Roland PM-100 V-Drum).
I configured mine a little differently, ordered an extra curved crossbar for strength, and use the Roland Roland KT-10 Kick Trigger Pedal rather than the base drum pedal that it comes with.
The drums have a great feel to them, are completely silent when using a headphone rather than the amp, and allow you to use your drum samples if you choose. I have been having a great time using it.
Buy one, you will not regret it!

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersGreat set with lots of flexibility to configure
I got this set with the expansion pack which was well worth it to me (the 4th Tom has a rim effect that sounds a bit like a tambourine and the second Crash has a different sound than the standard one.)

It was relatively easy to put together but in the end it took me 8 hours to play around with things to get them to where I wanted.

Then theres the wires which they don’t show in the product images

The drum heads are solid but small, especially the snare.

The Kick drum basically needs 20+ pounds backstopping it or to drill the base into something.

The frame is pretty sturdy but the two shorter end posts will tend to lean in for me (I did put more than intended on them and only have two Toms on the front bar. (I’m going to put something to lock the rubber bottoms of the rail stand in place.)

The choke feature on the Crash & Ride Cymbals is a little sketchy. Theres about a 2″ section dead center on the edge that controls it but if you miss the exact spot, no Choke which may not be the end of the world but is annoying when you expect it to work like grabbing a regular Cymbal only to find you were slightly off.

Another plus is that it’s easy to fold the sides in and pickup and move. It’s surprisingly light while still sturdy overall.

The components to setup each head or Cymbal all have three points of adjustment for tons of control. I would try to get it setup how you want it in terms of height, spacing, angles etc. before running the cables and the leave enough slack to make adjustments without having to reconfigure any cables.

Because I knew I would have to screw the Kick pad into something I set up the set on a piece of 2′ x 4′ plywood which is great with something underneath to protect the floor which then allows you to slide the set around easily.

I’m very happy with the set and the only additional thing I’ll get ag some point is a double-base pedal.

This is a perfect set for a beginner and with the expansion pack it really looks impressive with four Cymbals and four Toms.

Overall, great set for a beginner or anyone who doesn’t want to spend $3k plus on a professional digital set.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersTotalmente recomendable

    Great kit.
Only issue is being left handed, the cables are fixed lengths and required me to plug the crash into the ride and manually remap the cymbals to the correct sound. I guess this is the case with all electric drums.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBuen producto pero esperaba los soportes estuvieran mejo

So, I used this kit for just over 2 months. Great for beginner to low intermediate. I have returned the kit but for reasons that may not bother others. I had a cymbal hold on the rack that wouldn’t tighten properly, one of my dual zone cymbals would not trigger every now and again and the module reset on me 3 times deleting all my saved settings. Outside these small issues it is a good kit and will serve a beginner quite well. It has almost any sound you can imagine from 70’s to modern metal and everything in between. That said, I maybe expected a little too much of a $1100 kit. I did run in with a double kick pedal with no issues and definitely ran it with all stick sizes from 7a through 2b and everything in between. Played rock, jazz, metal etc. really it’s only a 4 star due to the minor issues I already mentioned.

    Decent Enough
Bought this as my first electronic kit and by extension, my first kit in years. Play the drums fairly often as a hobby. Overall, the kit is decent enough as far as the pads go. I’ve had this thing for the better part of a year now with almost daily use and have had zero issues with the mesh pads.

The cymbals are another story though. A few months in, the adhesive holding the rubber to the plastic cymbal base started to fail. Alesis was quick to send me a replacement (I actually kept the old cymbal and just moved it to a less played position) but even the replacement had the same failure. Unfortunately, the rubber coming loose severely impacts the playability. All 4 cymbals I have now are starting to have the same issue. The hi-hat cymbal also experienced the issue reported by others where the screws pull through the plastic bracket.

I play with some fairly lightweight ProMark and Vic Firth nylon-tipped 5As so nothing crazy heavy and I try to not whack this thing like an acoustic. You really get what you pay for here. With a better module and cymbals, you could carry the mesh pads forward quite a bit. At that point though you may as well have stepped up to the DM10 Pro MkII or even a Roland TD-27KVX. I also had to deal with crosstalk issues pretty much constantly and still get missed hits and other odd behavior.

As far as noise goes, the pads are decently quiet. The cymbals are pretty clacky though and the kick will be heard outside the room and through the floor. You probably won’t disturb any other housemates much behind a closed door but you definitely won’t be playing into the night.

If you’re just a hobbyist trying to avoid breaking the bank or want a decent kit to get started, I would recommend this one. If you’re more serious, just save your money and get something nicer. This kit will not last and you’ll quickly envy the features and playability of something higher-end.

Me gusto muchsimo 🙂

Assembly instructions are vague. Takes some adjusting to get it to fit your reach. Lots of features and sounds. Works great and is a ton of fun. Would recommend.

Easy set up. High hat peddle and responsiveness is a little meh. But I'm happy with everything else.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersAn excellent intermediate set, with capabilities to expand to a semi-pro kit!
Very high-quality construction and outstanding price for durable dual-zone 2-ply mesh pads all around, chokeable crash/ride cymbals, great feeling 2-ply mesh kick, solid drum rack, and the various other bits and pieces.

The pads are all extremely responsive with next to no hotspotting (thanks to the 4 [toms] or 6 [snare] foam piezo-to-mesh contact points in each pad, as opposed to a singular foam cone right in the center on other manufacturer’s kits). Dynamics are great, rim and head zones register hits perfectly, and they’re quiet(ish). The cymbals are probably the weakest point pad-wise. That’s not to say they’re bad–they register hits, dynamics, and chokes very reliably. They’re just single zone (marketing says they’re dual zone, but they mean one zone for hits and the other ‘zone’ is the choke switch) and on the small side. So no ride bell or edge sounds out of the box. Otherwise they’re durable, accurate, and overall fully functional.

The module has a ton of sounds, settings with which to tinker, and connectivity options. The built-in sounds are…passable depending on your circumstance. If you’re just playing for you in your headphones you’ll find many sounds fit the bill. If you’re trying to perform on stage then it’ll be much more difficult to find and tune sounds that will work well enough…but it’s nigh impossible to blow anyone away. Don’t buy it for the sounds, unless you’re just going to drum the days away with headphones.

Don’t let that discourage you though! With the USB-MIDI and traditional MIDI output options, you have two ways to pipe the Command’s hits/MIDI info to your computer. There you can use standalone drum software like the free MT Power Drum Kit and Steven Slate Drums 5.5 Free or higher quality paid options like EZdrummer, Addictive Drums, or my personal favorite SuperiorDrummer 3 to trigger incredible sounds with enhanced dynamics and realism.

I’ve upgraded my Command set with 3-ply white heads, a triple zone ride (took some finagling to get to work), and a 2-piece hihat and remote/cable pedal for a way more natural and traditional hihat experience. I did experiment with a 10″ Roland PD-105BK pad that I borrowed from a friend as my snare (seen in one of the pics), and although it worked and triggered great there was a heckin’ hotspot in and around the middle due to the single trigger cone (believe me I tried to tune it out in trigger and software settings, but there’s no way around it). I went back to the stock Command snare and so much better.

With minimal upgrades (or none!) and quality drum computer software, you’ll be blown away at how amazing this kit feels and sounds for the price–easily rivals Roland’s best (although with mid and high-end Roland modules you’re not reliant on hooking up to a computer to get amazing sounds…but you’re gonna pay dearly for the lack of that extremely minor inconvenience).

For personal enjoyment and/or practicing then the kit is perfect for the intermediate drummer straight out of the box. You really can’t go wrong!

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersWorks great with double kick so far! (Metal Drummer Review)
So I got this drum set in a couple days ago, never played an E Kit until now, always has been acoustic for me. (Unless you include rock band) And so far after a couple days, everything is working like it should. I’ve been playing drums for 9 or so years, metal drums specifically. I still have my acoustic kit, but due to my current situation I can’t play them because of noise and space. This solves both those problems perfectly. It’s extremely quiet, quiet enough to where my brother didn’t even know I got the set in, and he’s just a couple rooms over and I played for 3 or so hours yesterday while he was asleep. Fits in the spot I made for it perfectly, with more room to spare.
I was hesitant on getting this kit at first because of reviews I read about the kick drum pad not regeresting double kick properly. Tried to look up videos of people playing but it was people either just starting out on double kick or playing it to slower double kick songs. (I play pretty fast, but not super super fast) I play alot of Djent, Metal core, Death Core, etc. Mainly stuff like Invent Animate, Volumes, Old Asking Alexandria, Chelsea Grin. Just to give you a few examples of what this kit is capable of. Because all of the covers I did were flawless with my DW 7000 double kick pedal. (USE PLASTIC SIDES OF BEATERS TO MAKE YOUR DRUM HEAD LAST LONGER, AND NYLON TIP STICKS) If you’re coming from an acoustic kit, let me just tell you it definitely takes some getting used to. Try to spread the pads out and make it as close to your acoustic kit as possible. You’re never gonna get it EXACTLY like your acoustic, but over time you will get the hang of playing it. I promise. First time I played I was hitting my sticks together etc, but the more I played and moved stuff around to my liking closer to my acoustic, the more comfortable I got and noticed a huge difference when I went back to it today. On my acoustic, I use a 4 piece set, Bass drum, Snare, one Rack Tom, and a Floor Tom. For this E Kit 5 piece set, (It says 8 piece but they’re including cymbals) I set the 2nd rack Tom to a ride and the rim of that Tom as a splash. The 1st rack Tom rim to a different splash. And the Floor Tom rim I set as a China. For cymbals, Hi hat is a hi hat. First Crash is still a crash, and the “ride” cymbal I set as another Crash. I eventually want to get another cymbal pad to set as my china and not use the rim of the floor tom, but that will come with time. (It comes with additional slots for an extra tom and cymbal pad)
Now, for sounds. I use headphones (Audio-Technica ATH-M20x) because I don’t have a drum amp currently. The sounds in the module aren’t BAD. They’re about average. The worst sounds being the hi hat sounds imo. As much as I tweaked with the hi hat sound I couldn’t get it to sound close to how I wanted it, so I just turned the volume down on it so it’s not as loud. If there’s anything I would suggest for this kit and the only reason I gave it 4 stars out of five. I would suggest either getting a different module or using EZ Drummer etc and hook it up to your computer for better sounds. (I’m currently in the process of hooking up EZ Drummer but yes, you can do that!)
As for durability, I can’t say much on it yet cause I’ve only had it a couple days. And total played maybe 6 hours. But like I said earlier, from reading and doing research on this kit, make sure to use the plastic side of your kick pedal beaters and nylon tip sticks to make your heads last longer. At least it’s literally what everyone that’s had this kit for a while says. And from a friend of mine that’s used ekits for a long time now.
All in all, so far so good! The main thing I was afraid of, (Double kick) works great for me. (So far) And I’m no newbie when it comes to Double kick! If you’re worried about it not working, it will work! At least mine does. Again, I use DW 7000’s. I hope I answered some questions you guys had and thank you for reading! Much love!!

Great quality sound at an affordable price
I’ve wanted a kit since I was a kid & finally got this one. And I’m thrilled with it! Sound quality is excellent, & the mesh heads have a really good, responsive feel. The whole thing was reasonably easy to assemble, even for someone as inept as me.
Some things to consider: 1) the sound presets that came with the kit are ok, but you can edit them somewhat to expand their range. Running the kit through software like Logic or GarageBand lets you take things further. 2) The snare is a good size, but the toms & cymbals are a bit smaller than I’d like. However, I’m adjusting to that fairly quickly. 3) The choke feature on the crash is great, although it’s a little hard for a beginner like me to find the necessary sweet spot every time. 4) The pedals are really good, very sturdy, but the spikes that provide traction will GOUGE a wooden floor. Not the fault of the kit, but worth knowing in advance. You’d do well to sit the kit or even just the pedals on a carpet or thick towel.
Best thing about this excellent kit is that you can pound away as loudly (&, in my case, as badly) as you like without disturbing others, within reason. That’s perfect for shy beginners, who want the sound of quality drums but not the embarrassment of a loud kit broadcasting your mistakes.
In short, I’m so very satisfied with this kit. A fair price for a well made instrument that you can expand with an extra tom and/or cymbal. Highly recommended!

    Great for a budding Ringo!
This was an upgrade for me, the reason being that this kit you can adjust the sounds and volume of each Tom and Cymbal. However, the Cymbals are not duel zone, unlike the Toms. I decided to return the Surge and buy the Crimson II SE, on which the cymbals can be adjusted.
