The Amazon Basics Socket Set (201 Piece) is a good set but few things to make it better it needs more sizes in metric and less to none imperial the ratchets are good but the switch is a finicky as hold the top of the ratchet could /can switch the rotation other than that is it a good starter kit to get anyone started

Its a great piece of toolkit for every home mechanics. It will give you the confidence to work on your car or bike or lawn mower. Although a few addition would be nice. A longer extension, a ball joint and some more larger deep sockets would be nicer.

Saw somewhat conflicting reviews for this product. On my very inexperienced judgement it seems outstanding value. I’ll can’t believe I’ll ever be in the situation where I’m unable to find the right spanner, socket, etc. again. My case is very robust!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMany jobs ask for a smaller size socket set instead of the normal 1/2″ drive, this set fits the bill perfectly, it has 3/8″ and 1/4″ drive sockets and ratchets, the 1/4″ drive sockets come in the normal short depth but also in the deep socket lengths which are immensely useful in washing machine applications ie the hose clips where room to work is restricted and the bolts often long. To get a set of sockets etc that is well made and wide ranging in its uses you can pay a fortune for them, this is so good I purchased 2 of them. Having been an auto mechanic for many years, but now retired, I do have a lot of tools already, but like me they are getting old so these I would highly recommend for those odd jobs, and I trust they will last for many years if looked after. You can’t get better for the price.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have been a hobbyist mechanic for most of my life and because of this, I have owned a lot of tools. I would put these up against the larger consumer brands any day. I really cannot tell the quality difference between my other, more expensive tools at all.

This is a decent looking set with a good variety included however 2nd time I used the 3/8 ratchet it keeps slipping when any pressure is applied to it, so not so sure how it will stand up over time.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNice socket set, good value and seems to be very good quality however for some of reason it has no 15mm socket? Even on the case the markings jump from 14mm to 16mm yet further below the metric sockets is a second 14mm socket. Very bizarre.

Brilliant for the price with varying tools and attachments. Only downside, which is more personal to the job I was doing, was that the sockets only go to 20mm, I needed a 22mm and a 27mm. Par that, the quality is good for general DIY/car maintenance.

Nice Set – Superb for the money. Not professional quality by any means, but ideal for DIY enthusiast or hobby mechanic that doesn’t require tools heavy use. Case isn’t great quality but can’t complain for the money!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the Price

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOverall a fantastic tool kit of any type of work, I primarily use it for my car and Ive always had every socket I need in this kit. My only small complaint is the box, it’s a lot better than many plastic tool boxes but still I don’t see it lasting very long in the long term, but for me so far I haven’t had any issues with it besides the occasional tight socket and my 10mm not fitting correctly. Overall I’d recommend it really good value for money.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersNot going to claim this set is as good as my Teng sockets – it isn’t…… but it also costs 8x less. Perfectly adequate as a set to keep in the car/van, or have in the shed for general use(for most people). It is surprisingly good quality for the price point – cannot complain too much about them after a year of light use.

I’m rating it 5 stars, as it fulfills my need of having a spare set in the van, and – for most people – contains most of what you’ll ever need. People who need a serious every day use socket set, won’t be looking at this – so no point in scoring it against 400+ sets that fulfill that need.

For a budget socket set, this wins my vote. I’m always skeptical with reviews but this done the job. I managed to replace a steering rack with the sockets and they still look good as new! Box is a bit dodgy but for me it’s only the socket set you should car about.

Very good value, package arrived in good time. Read some reviews before purchasing and there was a few saying bits missing and case broke on delivery but I don’t have the same problem. Case wouldn’t be the strongest.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI very nearly retuned this socket set as I found the sockets incredibly tight to get on/off compared with my 40 year old set I was replacing. I thought the machining was just too tight. I see other reviewers found this too. Then embarrassingly I found that there’s a button on the handle you push and they slip on and slip off beautifully. Also the issue of everything falling out of the case seems resolved, now each socket is very firmly retained in the case. I have been using for 1 month and for me this socket set is proving perfect, rugged, strong and incredibly good value.

I looked at a lot of socket sets before I chose this one and after advise from a few friends who pointed me away from sets twice the price as I would only be using it 2-3 times a year for oil changes and maintenance on my motorcycle I was more than pleased when the set was delivered, the quality looks appears great the 3 wrenches are very very solid and have fine teeth and the set as most of what I will ever need a great bit of Kit for the money

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought these to ride me over as my decent socket set got stolen. For my use (often heavy equipment) they are a too light duty, however for someone beginning in automotive repair or wanting a set for around the house, these are perfect. The sockets are a little loose but for the average user and the price tag they are definatly worth it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI wanted a socket set to do jobs on my car mainly, I read the positive reviews so decided to buy them , also the price seemed reasonable to me having checked other sets. They arrived on time packaged well, I was pleasantly surprised how sturdy the case is and the sockets are excellent, there is a very good variety of sockets for most jobs and the two ratchets are of good quality too, plus you get a range of screwdrivers. Overhaul this is a good quality set and I’m sure would suit any mechanic, if you need a socket set look no further buy this.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersPositives:
    – Very sturdy and high quality
    – Very good value for money

    Negatives:
    – Screwheads falls out of the attachment they provide to fit in different tools really easily; lost a screw head in an engine bay.
    – As stated above because of the poor fit in this one small attachment/adapter it has to be a negative that it’s not magnetised as it would prevent above point.
