This got me through lockdown and quarantine a lot! This is such a relaxing game and it is such a time killer! If you have not played this already, I would definitely recommend as it is one of the best switch games out there!

I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!! this game has helped me a 31 year old woman connect with her 13 year old daughter, the grumpy teenage years have started but this game allows us to forget about that while we build our islands together, make things to share and share tips and secrets on the game. It’s done so much for me and my daughter. Best money I ever spent!

This will go down as one of the best games of 2020. Arrived at the perfect time, right at the start of lockdown. They are constantly adding new features to what is the latest edition of a much-beloved series of games. An essential purchase for anyone with a Nintendo Switch Handheld.

Let me just say I never thought I would play this game as much as I have. I have never played a Animal Crossing game before so this was new for me.

There are a couple issues I have with that game. Firstly you can’t tell where things are going to be placed nor dug/cut and that can cause frustration I will not deny. Secondly transforming the landscape is very slow and will be a tad annoying as well. Thirdly you don’t always get the villager you want so don’t expect to get all of them without effort. – All of these could be fixed with a update from Nintendo.

I know that makes it sound like I hate the game, but I don’t in fact I love it. The graphics and sound are top notch even in handheld mode and despite it’s flaws it can provide plenty of hours of enjoyment, as long as you don’t mind the grind.

What can I do in the game:
Grab fossils which spawn can go into a Museum.

    Decorate your house.

Control most of your island, e.g house placements and item placements.

Swim in the water – requires the 1.3.0 patch and needs a wet suit in game to be equipped.

Play with friends and family – needs Nintendo Online membership if they are too far to use local play.

Talk to villagers and visit their houses.

    Catch fish and bugs.

    Buy and change your clothes.

Make custom pattens and display them.

Overall I give this game a 10/10 a almost flawless masterpiece of a game.

Probably the best game you will play if you want a second life. You can unlock customizations on your island to rebuild it, discover fossils to build up your own museum, its good

Firstly. I’ve been a fan of Animal Crossing since Wild World. The graphics have come on leaps and bounds since then.
This game has a slower pace than New Leaf. The devs are staggering the updates, so it means those players who don’t time travel always have something new to do. Each month there are different bugs and fish to catch. I like the addition of Nook Miles, which I guess is a replacement for the meow points that appeared in New Leaf. Also great additions are CJ and Flick. CJ will visit your island randomly, and give you a mini challenge to catch three types of fish. He will then buy any further fish you catch for more money than offered at Nooks Cranny run by Timmy and Tommy Nook. Flick is the bug equivalent of this, and will also make you commissioned items if you give him three types of the same bug.
Features of the game I like.

The island is completely deserted when you first arrive, and you have to craft items.
    Staggered updates
Being able to place items outside
You have more say in where islanders live, and by visiting random islands and using amiibo cards, you can decide the majority of animals who move to your island. The first two are computer generated.
The graphics are amazing, and the museum is beautiful.

    Characters who have returned.

    Blathers
    The Able sisters
    Isabelle
    Saharah
    Redd
    K.K Slider
    Rover (Mayday event)
    Zipper (Bunny Day)
Reese and Cyrus will appear next month in a wedding anniversary event. It is not known yet if they become a more permanent thing at this stage,
Kicks, but doesn’t have his own shop….yet.
Gulliver, he will wash up on your beach, and ask him to collect communicator parts for him. He will send a present in the post to you.
Celeste, will appear on random nights and offer you diy cards to craft items using star fragments that will show up on your beach the day after a meteor shower….so get wishing on those shooting stars.
There are rumours that Brewster and the dream suite will return in this game.
Shampoodle appears to have been axed, but that’s not a big deal as you can now use a mirror to change your hair colour etc, along with Nook miles to buy kits. Nook miles are earned by completing everyday tasks.
The post office has been replaced by dodo airlines and a card rack in the airport. You can redeem nook miles and travel to random islands, where you’ll find more resources for crafting, and animals if you have space for them on your island.
DaisyMae is a new character who takes over from her aunt selling turnips. My advice, get in the AC groups and shop around for the best turnip prices.

Terraforming: People have done amazing things with this function, but if you are expecting this game to be like Minecraft, then just buy Minecraft. This function becomes available once you reach a certain level in the game. Initially the aim is to obtain three star status on your island so K.K Slider visits. He will visit every Saturday after his first concert.

    Things I don’t like.

You can now only have one island per console, so it means buying multiple consoles if you don’t want to share an island.
The tropical island tours are not present in this game right now, which means catching those rare bugs and fish are only available through time travel or waiting until the summer months.

Bunny Day and the Cherry Blossom/Sakura events clashed badly this year. Hopefully the devs are working on this for next year.

All in all this has all the charm of past animal crossing games with a few minor setbacks, like storage and the dreaded sea bass. Veterans of the game.
I think this is an ideal time to slow down and enjoy the slower paced games out there.

    I LOVE IT!!

I don’t get to play as much as I’d like to but it’s a very cute game. I got it from here because it was cheaper than the Nintendo download code!!
It’s fun, I find it therapeutic… Except when I get stung by bugs. But it’s really fun!

If you are new to Animal Crossing, I would say Animal Crossing would be best described as a much simpler version of the Sims but with cute animal characters and at a fairly slow pace.

In the beginning your character arrives on the island and befriends the cute animal friends that move in. More will move in as you improve your island. And, as you advance, you will meet other interesting animal characters that appear at special times.

The pace of what you unlock and how you unlock things is slow but enjoyable and there is no true storyline going on here, most of the time you are interacting and talking with your villagers, collecting things, doing tasks to improve your island, gardening, or building your own pet projects.

When your island has reached a certain point, the game will essentially be like Minecraft. The tasks you will be carrying out are only really limited by your imagination, so you could build a beach front cafe, or a castle, or a zen garden. You can go and visit a friends island, or go and visit another deserted island using Nook Miles tickets.

If you like having lots of tasks set for you or a grand storyline with lots of depth you may not enjoy the game as it is very simplistic but open with what you can do. Overall the charm from this game is the silly and fun nature of your animal villagers each with their own personalities, maybe a silly rooster who talks to the bugs in his house, a cat with glasses who thinks he’s a celebrity, or a neighbourly horse who is your best friend.

I’m a long time fan of the series and I’m loving it, I’ve certainly got a lot of enjoyment out of the game, logging in almost every day to check my turnip prices and talk to my villager friends.

( Just a heads up for those who don’t know, you only get ONE island on ONE Nintendo Switch. So other people playing the game on the same Nintendo Switch share the same island. This has caused frustration for some people as you can only progress at certain parts by how far the first person who moved onto the island has progressed. So make sure whoever will plays this most often moves in first. )

The download experience was easy to use and the game is exactly as expected. With new updates always being added, this game still has more to give. Been perfect for being stuck in lockdow

This game has saved us all during Covid19 lockdown. This way we have been able to travel and live on tropical islands, plus meet others online etc without worrying about social distancing.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs someone who’s never played any of the animal crossing games before I really didn’t know what to expect and was constantly switching to and fro as to whether this game was actually worth it as I thought it seemed a bit boring with no real concept to it.

Coronavirus has had it’s way and I’ve been stuck at home with very little to do so after investing in a nintendo switch I took the plunge and bought this. I am hooked. I’ve only played it for a day and already I’m addicted to collecting as many bugs and fish and fossils as I can find and visiting other islands to collect other fruits… there are parts of my own island I have yet to explore as I haven’t crafted the tools to get there yet but it’s easy to say this is one of the most relaxing games I’ve played in a long time.

The only frustrating part, as with all games it seems on the switch, is the need for a nintento online subscription to be able to find any friends which is an annoying added cost on top of an already quite pricey game.

as soon as I purchased it, I got the email which had all the instructions on it and took me to the Nintendo website. very efficient delivery from Amazon and you get to save 3 by buying it here instead of the eShop. there’s no difference at all, you even get gold points for buying it here

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersIt was so easy to purchase, follow the link provided in the email to confirm the purchase and provide the link – when I turned on my switch it started downloaded automatically.
Would highly recommend the download version in particular.
As for the game, I’m a huge fan. It’s very easy to find info on the internet so I won’t bang on but I’m obsessed as are many others.
The best part is that with updates (currently on version 1.1.4) there are always small improvements from Nintendo who appear to really listen to player feedback. Don’t hold back – start and island.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIf you’re looking to buy the code on behalf of someone else (for example, your child’s linked switch / account) make sure you don’t follow the ‘redeem with Nintendo’ link in the confirmation email.

Doing this will redeem against the account you login with and doesn’t give you the option to assign the game to a linked account.

I should have taken the 16 character code from the email and added it directly to my child’s Switch. I didn’t do this and ended up with this game on my Switch and no way to transfer it.

Amazon were brilliant and helped me get it sorted.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersI purchased the digital version during the Covid-19 quarantine because the delivery of the hard copy was 10 days and FOMO had hit me hard. Some of the comments made me nervous about the digital purchase but the code worked perfectly. Except like an idiot I entered the wrong one first (they provide two codes – redemption and control). It’s the redemption code you need to enter. But I can confirm the code (if you use the right one) works perfectly.

The game is actually pretty great time pass during these troubled times. I think they give you enough info to get started but it’s definitely worth reading some guides to get some knowledge on what you should be doing first.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersDeserves the hype! Really smooth gameplay which is easy to pick up wether you have played any Animal Crossing games or not. I really did my research and I wanted to see if it was as good as Wild World, (It’s better, the graphics and soundtrack are amazing) I’m glad that I purchased the game as the first one in my Switch game library.
