Ok I have had this running for about three weeks now and over all it’s not bad.
Since the “live Crossing and the “Intrusion Detection” are all in the cameras. The first thing I did was to requested a Password Reset for the cameras from support (very quick with their response), logged into each camera and enabled them.
The next thing I did was to “upgrade” the firmware in the NVR to the latest revision. This seemed to sort out most of the bugs.
Since this seems to be a rebadged Hikvision system I tried using the Hikvision iVMS-4200 3.6.1.3 Clint and this works really well (Only after NVR firmware had been updated). The Guarding Vision Client does work ok but I like the Hikvision Client (looks betted)
My NVR is in a different room to the monitor, I used HDMI to Rj45 converter to pipe it to the monitor and a remote mouse to control it.
If the “Line Crossing” and the “Intrusion Detection” was already enabled in the cameras and the NVR had the latest Firmware I would have probably given this system 5 stars.
I was looking to buy Hik Vision system, my nephew as one and it looked really good quality product and image. Then fortunately whilst I was researching different systems I came upon this item Annke I thought I would give it a try for half the price of a Hik Vision. I am glad I did the image quality is brilliant. It as not got all the refinements of the Hik Vision system, however in my opinion it as all you need for a good domestic and small business system. Would not hesitate to recommend it.
Excellent for the security of our driveway and caravan ! Very pleased!
I bought this camera set to replace my 4 channel 2mp kit.
I really cannot get over the difference in quality and ease of use. Had the units up and running in about 2 hours and the ability to control everything from my laptop now is great.
Only negative i have so far is with the motion detection but a bit more tricking around and I am sure i’ll get it sorted – certainly more of a nice to have for me.
Would highly recommend.
Unfortunately I can’t put the picture due to data protection but please if considering CCTV pick this. Less than 3 days after the install we had a burglary and then after easily passing the footage to the police the culprit was known. My goodness the close up and resolution was amazing. We’re just waiting for the court date and although most stuff recovered there’s damage and a couple of bits the insurance replaced who also had a copy of the CCTV.
For anyone who is looking for DIY CCTV system this is an excellent choice. The POE makes it easy to install with just a single cat 5 or 6 cable. For me this was an upgrade from an older AHD system. The test for me is can you read a car number plate at night and you can ( unless the camera is straight on to the number plate as the IR just reflects off the plate) but, at an angle the detail both day and night is superb. Nice user interface as well and can also be accessed via a mobile app, web browser or pc / Mac application.
Very nice Cameras and NVR features. Not too large very nice fit.
This is a great product, you just have to hope none of the components fail because the seller support is awful. I’ve exchanged emails with the seller and Annke technical support. I’m still waiting for a positive outcome.
Excellent product easy to set up. We have bought 4sets for our CCTV requirements.
Not sure about night vision and don’t using motion detection.
The only problem was with the instructions for night time colour. This was solved after communication from the supplier.
Chose Annke brand based on a recommendation from a work colleague who has the 5MP model. Opted for the 8MP as I’ve got a lot of distance to cover and needed the higher pixel rate for more clarity.
Have only just set the system up so still to fine tune it but on first appearance the image quality for both day and night looks really sharp. Have yet to test out the motion detection function but will update this review at a later date.
Due to the shape of my property (too many angles and blind spots) I’ve had to mount my cameras on trees looking back towards the house, etc. The quality of the cables supplied with the kit look average at best, not sure how great they’d be for outdoor use but I’m sure if only being run inside the loft to cameras on the exterior of the building they’d be fine.
As mentioned in other people’s reviews my only main concern with the whole system is the initial setting up through the NVR’s software. Managed to stumble my way through it and have listed some tips i found along the way to make life easier.
Have also listed pros and cons below:
Pros:
* Good build quality cameras and NVR.
* Sharp images for both day and night vision.
* Good price for high resolution quality.
* Lots of features within the software.
* App has a decent layout.
Cons:
* NVR software takes some getting used to.
* Camera ethernet cables not the best quality.
* Instruction booklet a little limited, doesn’t appear to be any FAQ or troubleshooting section within it.
All in all I would recommend to anyone looking for a CCTV system with a high image quality but it’s not for the faint hearted. If you’re good with computers, etc, you’ll manage, but if you’re a complete novice I’d have someone on hand for assistance.
One main issue I had throughout the installation process was getting the cameras to connect to the NVR itself. Didn’t seem to matter what I tried they just wouldn’t talk and always kept seeing the message “detecting” (either on the plug-n-play or manual setting). In the end the one thing that seemed to resolve the issue was on the camera settings page under PoE power tab. When I turned the respective power ports to on and then rebooted the NVR, once powered up again the cameras appeared and worked as expected. I had run my own cat6 cable for the cameras but the length wasn’t any longer than the cables supplied in the box. Maybe this will help if you’re having the same problem.
One other thing I discovered is that if you’re using an older HD tv, the HDMI resolution output from the NVR can be too high. When powered on I kept seeing initial Annke logo and then screen went blank. Went and bought a VGA cable and that resolved the problem. But I’d say if you want to review the footage in as high a quality as you can then you’ll need a 4K supported tv.
Hope you found this review helpful.
Decent setup and app works real nice on all devices. The customer service is really helpful – these guys care.
Thanks!
I have had a 1080p CCTV for a few years and decided it was time to upgarde to a higher spec and more moden system. After a lot of research into various different makes and specifications of systems I decided on this to be my replacement.
The system arrived well packaged and everthing needed was “in the box”.
Instructions on how to set it up were straight forward and the whole 4 camera system was up and running in an hour.
Before phyically replacing my existing system i took time to familiarising myself with the settings and options to get the best picture and performance that suited my setup need . This was time well spent as the NVR itself was going to be placed into a location that is secure and not easily accesable – so getting the setup right was very important.
As well as being able to configure the system direct on the NVR ( connected to a monitor or TV screen) there are options of using the client software ( installed on PC) and also via a WEB interface connectiong direct to the NVR. These make remote configuration possible without having to be phisically next to the NVR. though in practice i found that it was best to perform as much of the setup as possible on the NVR itself with just a few minor changes being applied via the remote software once the system was installed in place.
Picture quality is very good with a particularly wide field of view, this allows for overlapping and maximising of monitoring areas from fixed locations.
Recoding can be continuous or triggered by motion detection which can save disc space but also allows to skip to movement quickly if reviewing a days worth of footage.
Recorded video can be downloaded to your PC for local viewing and then saving to another external device or cloud storage for historical usage.
The app for mobile device also works well with clear video and quick connections – this also has the ability to review stored video from the NVR from same or previous days – useful if you are away and wish to check back.
Night time viewing is also very clear as long as you make sure there are not too many reflective surfaces that would bounce the IR light – though this is true of all night time video cameras and affected my older system too.
Pros
A nice compact system with high quality video.
Power over ethernet means only one cable for each camera for power and video feed, and only one power plug for the whole system ( non POE systems require 2 power supplies – one for the NVR and another for the cameras )
Motion detection allows for sensitivity to be altered and also to mask out areas to minimaise triggering by trees or plants moving in the wind or by cars passing by on the road. Though rapid changes in daylight may still trigger an “alert”
The system produces a good clear picture as long as you adjust frame size and FPS to optimise for your requirements . Larger frame sizes give less FPS which can cause bluring of faster moving objects so chose a combination that suits your requirements. 3072×1728 can be run at 20FPS which is a good combination
Cons
For “plug-and-play” the software supplied is ok for the initial setup but when trying to make finer adjustments it was a bit of a learning curve to find the right options. Some options were easier to use on the client software while others were easier on the Web Interface
A bit of “googling” and YouTube searching will help find what you need.
In Summary
A very capable system with enough options to allow it to be adjusted to suit most peoples needs but be prepared to spend a bit of learning time to get the best out of it.
Very good, though the night vision could be improved but better than many other cctvs I saw
Excellent quality , I use in shop , the best system ive had and this is my 3rd system to date .
Mobile set up easy , .
You do need a fast UPLOAD speed of arround 10 mbps to see 4k on your phone which is amazing quality , but on any thing less stick to 1080 as 4k freezes .
I also now only have one wall socket in use as before I needed one socket for every camera meaning 5 wall sockets .
It’s so good I’m getting same system for my house .
The camera it’s self is amazing quality and easy to use and setup. The NVR is good and quite, the only let down is doesn’t work with new Microsoft Internet so have to use IE11 also doesn’t have Ftp either to write to server. Hoping they update this soon. Other than that excellent camera.
Good:
Picture is excellent, night vision is great for night vision (it’s never going to as clear as day), and I found setup to be straight forward including getting it going with the phone and iPad app. Everything apart from the cables seem well made. I like the fact you have to set the cameras password so they’re not left as default. Motion detection can be zoned so you can set an area on the screen, which reduces unwanted triggers.
Not so good:
Cables. The outer doesn’t seem thick enough to confidently survive being dragged through brickwork and then living outside exposed to the elements, and one of the four didn’t even work at all. I prefer to pass through just the network cable and then crimp on the RJ45 plug later so I bought some proper outdoor grade cat6 cable and connectors and did just that. Shame to waste all the cable that comes with this product though – I’d have preferred it if they were decent enough to use then I’d just have to chop an end off.
Instruction clarity. Could be made clearer and more comprehensive for the less technical. Not too bad though although some things may benefit from some Googling.
Conclusion: a very capable iindustrial grade system slightly let down by the included cables. Overall I’m happy with it so it still gets the 5 stars.
For 4x 4K cameras this system represents very good value for money. Easy to install (dependent on your property), easy to set up and get connected online. Don’t forget you do need a wired router connection for remote viewing. Only a couple of downsides, the cables are very cheap, feel quite fragile and tangle easily. I had to remake the end connections on one, and you need a RJ45 tool kit to do that. Also the app is clunky and doesn’t remember your last view. Playback on app is a bit glitchy, but not sure if this is my wifi / old Iphone 6. I want to upgrade with another couple of cameras, but at 90 each for the 4K domes, i’ll leave this for a bit. Oh and I love the glow of the IR night vision LEDs – they look like eyes!
The image quality is superb. The extremely wide angle view of the cameras is very impressive. Very easy to set up install and intuitive interface in use. Very impressed with the zoom feature – extremely clear close ups. Highly recommend this Annke product as the best I have seen. Worth every penny.
In general this is an excellent CCTV system, my only negatives are on how sensitive the motion detection is (far too sensitive) and the fact it doesn’t have any software to enable the system to recognise humans over cats etc
The images from the cameras are very sharp and id you need a longer cable your local electrician can make up a CAT 6 lead which can be joined to the existing cable with a female to female RJ45 (CAT6) connector and the camera plug easily removed from the original cable and put on the end of the new cable. The join may need to be waterproofed, depending on where it is located. Customer service is very helpful if there are any problems.
The instructions supplied with the equipment could be better but customer services can direct you to a good instruction video.
Great image quality for the price.
Frame rate is only 15fps at 4k resolution, so it could be better…. but I paid 480…so not bad
Ethernet cables are a bit cheap… thin plastic covering, which doesn’t stand up well to pulling through confined spaces… So be aware… Buy some better quality items if you’re doing this
I installed my camera under the eaves…one per corner… then ran the cables into the loft and down the side of the soil pipe!
The NVR is quiet…… loads of options
It allows you to connect the ANNKE Nova camera too which is great
Night vision is so much better than Arlo
All in all good value
I have recently installed this system (my first) and have found it to be better than expected once a few setup issues had been overcome. That said, the tech support has been very responsive and helpful, although some of my questions could have been avoided if the instructions were more comprehensive and if I had installed CCTV previously.
You can see from the photo the clarity of footage when two unknown hikers strayed onto my property, I was able to review while 3,000 miles away on another continent and establish that there was no serious problem.
I haven’t set up all the features yet and will update when I have more experience with the system.
A great quality CCTV system. The playback features can be a little fiddly but once you get used to the dashboard it’s easy. The camera quality @4k plugged into a 4k tv is fantastic. Very impressed with the night vision also. Worth spending the extra money compared to other systems.
Great Item
Great Quality
Customer Feedback Is Excellent
Thank you so much
I’ve been looking for an IP camera system for a while after having a system that used BNC cables that required a separate power cable.
Firstly the setup, the hardest part of setting up the system is the cabling. The actual fixing of the cameras is made as easy with the supplied templates, and the ethernet cable simply clicks in to the socket on the end of the cable attached to the camera.
Plan your cabling route very carefully, I have the DVR in our loft, and then fed the cables out of the fascia boards and down some trunking, I then used some weather proof junction boxes to put the connections in.
The cameras feel extremely well made, heavy duty and very solid/robust. After tweaking the settings to use the main feed to record, meaning the highest quality recording. The cameras also have a removable panel, that hides a reset button. Should you have any issues with setting up your cameras, hold this when restarting the DVR and the cameras settings reset.
The DVR itself seems like a mean bit of kit. The menus, once familiar, are easy to navigate and to set just right. I have set the DVR to record all channels continuously and then overwrite when full. I’ve also set it to set an “alarm” which is essentially a marker that shows up on the timeline when watching playback.
The app, Annke Vision, is easily set up using a QR code scan and this enables you to monitor your cameras from your smartphone. At first, it doesn’t seem obvious (or didn’t to me) what to do, but you need to click the + sign on the top right of the app and then click “scan qr code” this then finds your DVR (when it’s connected to the internet) and allows you to check on your cameras/property.
The final added little bonus, for me anyway, is the ability to connect it to the Annke Nova. This isn’t something that was advertised, however as soon as the DVR connected to my home network, it found the cameras that we have connected to WiFi. To add these as your IPTV cameras, note the IP address of your Annke Nova in the list and then edit one is the other 8 channels, set it to manual and change the IP address to that of your Nova.
