There is sometimes a bit of in-accuracy in the readings but overall a very solid sensor, worth recommending.
Please be aware that Air Pressure readings are not provided to Google Home
I only turned my on 5 minutes ago so this review is minimal but I should point out that the Aqara Hub is not necessarily required. I have connected mine to HomeAssistant running on a Raspberry PI and it paired and configured perfectly with no work from me. It was so smooth that I can hardly believe how easy it was.
I ordered 2 more of these and on one of them the side connector to the coin battery was bent out of place so that it did not work. It was a trivial fix but based on my small sample 1 in 3 of them not working out of the box is worrying.
My sensor is positioned outside my house in an area where it’s sheltered from rain, sun and wind. It’s paired with an Aqara E1 hub indoors. The Aqara app displays and logs the 3 measurements. Alexa sees only temperature. For 20 years I’ve had an Aldi sensor in the same place: it’s temperature reading is within 0.5 degrees of the Aqara reading but its relative humidity reading is significantly different and I don’t know which RH reading is correct. For me, the temperature reading is more important. Recommended.
Used to control humidifier as the inbuilt sensor was reading 80%+ all the time. This seems to be pretty accurate although I don’t actually have a proper meter to test. Wish it did update more often but that doesn’t really matter that much given the cheap price.
Nice sensors, I have a few of them now. Putting two next to each other usually gives the same temperature within 0.2 deg C, so they’re consistent. My only complaint is that they often wait for 0.5 deg C of temperature change before sending an update, which is too much to use them for temperature control of a room. Would love Aqara to update the firmware to allow control over this parameter, as I’d happily accept a shorter battery life for more frequent updates.
I had to purchase this replacement as I left the old one in the porch and it got wet.
DO NOT attempt to use it outside without adequate water protection! It does say not for external use, but I thought I would see if it was OK. I now keep it in the conservatory or garage to get external temp readings.
I am delighted with my recent purchase of the Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor from Amazon. This device has proven to be incredibly accurate and reliable, and its compact size makes it easy to place anywhere in my home. The smart integration with home automation systems is a great feature, allowing me to monitor the temperature and humidity levels from anywhere. Overall, I highly recommend this sensor for anyone looking to improve their home’s environment.
The Aqara Temperature sensor work brilliantly. I have mine linked to a radiator thermostat which allows for a far more accurate room temperature. Easy to set up and works with HomeKit, what’s not to like.
I have recently had to install a large medical fridge into my home, and said fridge has to be kept within a set temperature range to facilitate the safe storage of the specialist medication.
I wanted something that would measure the temperature of the fridge, which there are endless simple low cost options, but wanted something that would allow me to review the fridge temperature from anywhere in my home, and more importantly when I am outside. I needed the ability for the device to alert me should the fridge fall outside of the set temperature.
I was surprised at how few solutions existed, there are many devices that can do this and have a control panel on the fridge that you can read, and that sounds an alert locally, but I wanted more than this.
I wanted a solution that would measure the temperature; give me the ability to check the temperature from my phone where ever I am, inside or outside; be able to send alerts to my phone; and be able to integrate with my existing Apple HomeKit environment.
I couldn’t find anything explicit for my needs, there were some that would use bluetooth for local messages, many explicit described as for room temperature devices with local alerts, but couldn’t see a solution that said explicitly that it can be used inside a fridge.
After some googling I found people had used Aqara room temperature sensor inside a fridge with success. In theory I’d found a device that hit my needs.
I purchased the Aqara Temperature Sensor and the Aqara Hub M2, you must purchase the hub to use the sensor. And both had super quick delivery.
These devices were so so easy to setup, no technical skills needed whatsoever, really was impressed at how easy it was.
I have the hub directly connected to my router by ethernet and have both stored in a separate room of the house to the fridges location, it connects fine between the hub and sensor. The hub can also be connected by wifi.
Please note that the hub doesn’t come with a power plug, all you have is a USB to USB Micro cable. You will need to have a power adaptor, like the ones that come with your mobile, 5v needed. If you have a spare USB port then one would imagine you can connect directly to that spare port.
The sensor is very small and I have stuck it inside the fridge using the sticky pads that were supplied.
Aqara has its own application that you download for free from the App Store, and the apps plays nice with Apple HomeKit.
The automation was easy to setup and I can now receive alerts regarding the fridge directly to my mobile, giving me the nerve settling solution that I wanted.
Highly recommend these devices, it ticks all of the boxes that I need, and doesn’t cost the earth.
Easy to setup with my Cozify system. Provides temperature and humidity reading that can be used to trigger dehumidifier. The reading is a little bit different to another old digital sensor I have. It is hard to tell which one is more accurate. However this is normal and within acceptable range of both meter. Very happy with it, just need to see how long the battery lasts.
This sensor is great and precise, I gave it 4 stars only because the batteries included lasted for 4 months in two of them, I ordered 3, last one still has 43%.
Batteries included were Panasonic, manufacturer claims a year of use… Not really, these are in the rooms with 20-25c temperature and still they lost charge rapidly. Other than that, sensors work great, I got them hooked up with Home Assistant in no time.
These are a little pricier than other brands of temperature sensors, but they feel slightly better made, and the battery protector film was easier to remove. I’m using this with a Zigbee antenna attached to a Raspberry Pi running Mosquitto and Zigbee2mqtt, and not had any problems setting it up.
For some reason, these sensors are a pain in the behind to get paired into a zigbee mesh. They’ll join, work for a couple of hours and drop off again. But once you find the right routing device in your mesh to pair it through, it’s brilliant.
Mine didn’t like to pair with a ikea lamp it was 2m away from and with direct line of sight, but a lidl bulb the other side of a wooden door and it was perfect. Updates often enough, gives plenty of detail, and accurate.
Connected to my Sonoff Zigbee stick in Home Assistant straight away (so ignore all of the comments and answers that say it can only be used with Aqara hubs) and, sitting next to a dedicated high-end temperature sensor, it only differs by about 0.4 degrees, so I’m guessing it’s accurate.
Only downside is that the battery supplied went from 100% to 66% in a matter of days. It’s stabilised now and hasn’t dropped too much in the intervening months, so I’m prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it has something to do with the quality of my Zigbee mesh.
Works out of the box with Home assistant automation software + ConBee II USB Gateway.
You do not need a hub like AQARA insists on. Works well with HomeSeer using the Zigbee plugin.
First Aqara sensor was a window/door sensor and it works flawlessly and super fast response
Temperature sensor does what it claims as well.
These took mere seconds to set up as well.
Great value for adding sensors to HomeKi
Works out the box with my conbee stick and Home assista
I got it working with smartthings without to much effort. Didn’t need the Aquara hub since smartthings has zigbee. Next up getting it working with home assistant.
Accuracy has been good enough.
Quitr accurate and very small, easy to hide away wherever it’s needed!
Easy to set up within the Aqara app. Shows lots of information within the app.
Integrates with HomeKit well and can be used to control other HomeKit accessories.
Simple but effective.
for smartthings have to add device handler and do multiple resets near router until it finally connects, once it does connect all is well, i have two running for temp and humidity.
I use this via the Homey bridge not the Aqara one and works perfectly 🙂
