The quality and look of these miniatures are great! I actually had quite a lot of fun putting them together.
Great game that plays easy and really feels like it adds to my overall star wars experience.
This Vader miniature is about 4 cm tall (a bit bigger than the 32mm listed) or a little more with the base. It features fairly accurate detail given the small size. Not much hobby knife work is needed for mold lines and stuff. I recommend painting the helmet and cloak separately, as they will be tough to paint once assembled. Happy with the way this miniature turned out.
So much stuff!! Can’t wait to start painting and hopefully playing someday lol
A grand model kit! Star Wars: Legion is wonderful for board gamers, and hobbyist everywhere!
Highly recommended. The model has great detail and it’s of good quality. I love that it allows optional builds. 10/10
Just assembling all of the Star Wars characters made it worth the price playing the game it’s just a fun extra to me and the game is fun
Only complaint the droids are so difficult and tedious to assemble but they look so good when there done (not painted yet only primed)
Allot of rules. I honestly got this mostly for the miniatures. I like to build and paint them.
What I like is that it has everything a newbie needs to build they armys and play the game.. you can also order the paint set.. if you dont have any paint on you as well
Get these models, you won’t regret it! Package arrived quickly and in great condition. Model is very easy to install and the Tauntauns are larger than expected. Fun to paint, highly recommended buy!
A must buy! Very easy to install and so worth the price. Shipment arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I decided to swap the supplied 100mm base for an oval base. The supplied base is more than sufficient, I swapped it for personal preference. Don’t pass this model up, makes a great centerpiece!
Very high quality and detailed miniatures. They are very easy to assemble because of the push-fit parts!
Im a huge fan of Star Wars and wanted a new little hobby to do and this was a fun little hobby starter I didn’t like how in the package they didn’t include the paint set even if it was a very limited one it was still a good starter not all pieces are on the little frames which was useful but kinda took part off the fun out of the full experience and a reminder clean up each pieces before and possibly after gluing it’ll make the things look so much better but it’s fun and takes a while to do which is what I like about i
This starter set is enough to play 500 point starter battles. With 2 you can build solid 800 point armies. 1 Starter and 1 or 2 boosters good 800 point armies can be fielded. Purchase 1 booster card pack. Value for the money 6 stars.
If you are just looking for Star Wars minis to paint, this set should satisfy that itch. Lots of customization and you get extra helmets!
Love the unit but was disappointed in the condition of the box it came in.
The game itself is difficult for a non war gamer but once you get the hang of building the little guys the sculpts are beautiful. I like to paint in my spare time and while these are annoying to glue together they are absolutely some of the best sculpts available at the hobby shop for painting. Very happy with finished builds.
Wanted the set to paint and really happy with them
Fun game saw a lot on youtube so decided to get it definitely not worth the 100 i bought on sale for 80 still not worth it they give you the cheapest plastice and it breaks very easily maybe worth like 50 at most.
i don’t even know how to play this game; i just like the figurine.
i don’t even know how to play the game; but this figurine looks amazing.
again, can’t play for the life of me; but the figurine is amazing.
Easy assembly with individually packaged people so there is no confusion as to what arm goes with what model. The first layer of paint doesn’t like to stick to the model so do a once over with a primer before starting painting. The instructions are easy to understand and play. I would say that I am very happy with this purchase and am glad to add it to our list of tabletop games. A side bonus is I can use the models when playing the Star Wars Tabletop RPG!
The issue was very minor and the speeder ended up looking acceptable in the end. Also be careful mixing and matching the clone pieces since not every arm will match well with every torso. (Dry fit before gluing.)
Not issues with shipment. The item is great. Krennic is a great model to add to you Star Wars legion Empire Army. The sculpt is great and it is easy to assemble. It is made of the soft plastic FFG is known for and super glue will work to assemble this.
A xmas gift for my son. Super quick delivery and best price.
Good set and variety but you might want to find someone to split the cost of two boxes to get whole armies for each side.
This arrived on time and is perfect fit for the game. Pack was very damaged on arrival hence the 4 stars, but the mini was not damaged
As a piece of terrain for the Star Wars Legion game, it is deemed an expensive side purchase…BUT on the table it does give the authentic look of the Endor bunker. It is a perfect size and the roof is removable to place models inside if needed. There was a surprising amount of parts in the box that require glue – Whereas I though it was going to be a take out of the box and place on the table ready to go purchase.
There are cheaper 3rd party options available but if you can stretch to it, it looks great!
Been waiting for this for awhile to add to my armies. Arrived early, in perfect condition…just what the doctor ordered
The item was well packaged and all the pieces were there it’s says painted but is unpainted. A good product and value for item.
Dont know what you need till you get it lol. Arrived on time, packed well and cant wait to pai
For a basic, get into the game, it’s real value for money. if you are just playing with buddies on the kitchen table, then get it, if you want to get into the game some, then maybe spring for 2 sets.
I paint figures and Sabine has a lot of details. Very small parts to keep track of, but a lot of options for modeling.
Great product would definetly recommend to table top enthusiast and star wars fans alike
The only thing i kind of hate is that some of the stuff has to be glued and i actually lost the lower gun to the biker scout vehclie and have nothing to replace i
The rules really suck but the minis are top-notch. My only gripe is that I wish there were extra droid heads since one of mine got launched into the void.
Would give 5 out of 5, only giving 4 stars due to assembly for droids is very time consuming and if you do not have the right tools, razor blade, to cut droids out of their sheet then they will be damaged removing either by scissors or by hand. Other than that an awesome game to get into especially now with the clone wars!
This is a hobby more than a game but a great way to get into the hobby.
Arrived on time but received b1 droids instead of the droidekas. Can’t complain too much as it’s more miniatures to paint.
Excellent.
If you love Star Wars and wargaming, there really is nothing better than Star Wars Legion. Infinitely less complex that Warhammer 40k, far less bias toward certain armies and beautifully detailed miniatures.
-il primo sprue comprende quattro soldati cloni armati di fucile blaster d’ordinanza, ognuno scolpito con una posa differente;
Lovely minis, nice detail and snap-fit so they went together in seconds. Comes with spare rifle arms for the heavy gunners which was a surprise, didn’t realise you can run them as a normal squad too!
The game was cheaper on amazon.ca than anywhere else. An excellent value for anyone looking to collect the rebels or the empire.
A fun and innovative way to bring Star Wars to life at home. The rules can be overwhelming for first time players but YouTube has many how to play videos available. Assembly is simple as is the painting. I would say it compares closely to Warhammer.
The models are cast well enough that they look good even as a display piece or 3D art for any Star Wars fan.
Enough cards for 2 players to take a half, only one set of measurement tools and dice.
Great starter with useful core units. Buy 2!
Really enjoying this game it’s great. models are a blast to paint and you get so much in the core set I’ve actually brought 2 and the game is so much fun to play especially if your a star wars fan.
Perfect condition. I did for some reason receive 2 top pieces of the range 2 movement tool and no bottom piece, not sure what happened there.
Fantastic game! Combines all my favorite things – assembling models, painting, gaming and Star Wars!
Great value selle
only problem I had was the flash lines on the miniatures were hard to notice and also shave away prior to painting. perhaps a more experienced modeller could have done a better job. or someone with more patience
As far as in game, I find her a little expensive, though she is one of the few rebel units with red defense dice. Mostly a defensive unit but not great at anything. I dont see myself using her very often in my lists.
Her one command card “Explosions”with the mines works very well however on concentrated groups of units.
This is a really great game, and upon demoing it for a friend, they got into it more heavily than I did. Be careful though, like Warhammer and other wargames, it gets expensive with each unit bought after the starter set.
This core set can be expanded with Snowspeeders and ATSTs and other troops, purchased separately. In this box you’ll find Rebel Troopers, Stormtroopers, a few vehicles and of course Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker themselves. The models in the box are plastic and some simply assembly with glue. In my opinion, you should paint them because they just look so good painted. I can’t tell you how many times I just have a “scene” set up with no intention of playing the game, and company stops by and amazes at the models and set-up.
The game itself is rules heavy, and may not be for someone under the age of 12. Even as an adult fan, it takes a few games to really learn how to play. If you’ve got someone in your family who as an interest in gaming, Star Wars, and likes to build/paint/create stuff, this would be an excellent purchase.
Great price for this unit. Adds a great new depth to my force. Fast delivery and very well packed.
The delivery was a bit late but beside that, all good
I bought one to try the game with friends, it took about a day to want to buy a second to start playing competitively. Two sets give you enough dice and a good number of corps to start real armies for competitive play. By itself, it’s a balanced game.
Excellent product, really fun to paint and simple and straightforward rules that don’t take away from the realism of the game.
Only criticism is the mould lines of the models, but they have been improving with every expansion!
This set is an incredible value for what you get, especially compared to warhammer models. However, there are some things that do bug me. First off, no customization for almost all models. That means absolutely no variation between the two squads on each team. Also the plastic is kinda low quality. Other than that, it’s quite fun to play.
So, it’s a good game with a ton of potential. I think that it fits thematically and there is plenty of units for fun with a friend.
My biggest complaint is the sculpts. They just aren’t as detailed as they should be. The vehicles feel more like models and lack a the rigidity that I’d like to have.
If you are a Star Wars and war game fan, grab it. If you are looking for a straight board game experience, this isn’t it. This game is built for the people who want to put terrain on a table, paint minis and have a good time.
Image attached is after painting, model does not come painted or assembled. This product contains only the Emperor Palpatine figure and none of the other figures in this picture. This is an expansion pack for Star Wars: Legion, the core set is required and, for full utility of this expansion pack, at least 1 Royal Guard expansion pack is also required.
Image attached is after painting, model does not come painted or assembled. This product contains only the Chewbacca Operative figure and none of the other figures in this picture. This is an expansion pack for Star Wars: Legion, the core set is required.
Great purchase, the miniatures are great and easy to put togethe
The game itself is fun, in-depth, but easy to learn. I only give it 4 stars for poor accountability in packaging. Keep your receipts, you may need to exchange your sets too.
Great fun for anyone looking to get into tabletop gaming on a budget and daunted by similar games like 40k or Bolt Action, where you need a much larger budget!
Love this game and this was my second core set, a great price as well
Other than that, the game is really fun and is fairly standard Fantasy Flight mini gaming fair. It has the usual quibbles about not including enough of their specialty dice for the core box units, but that’s been covered to death in other reviews. If you have even a passing interest in both Star Wars and miniature wargaming, I recommend grabbing this and the extra dice set when you get the chance! It’s well worth it to have a small army of both Rebel and Imperial troops painted up in your own choice of colors!
Good quality miniatures. Plastic is well cast with little or no flaws or flash. A good enough assortment of vehicles and troops in the box to get a feel how the game flows.
Miniatures War games + Star Wars = Awesome
Nice Quality miniatures, assembles quickly and had fun painting them.
This game re-ignited my hobby and I forgot how much fun it was.
If you are jumping in competitively buy two of these, even if you want a specific army (Imperial or Rebel) the value is there. Three units with individual boxed expansions equal the value of this at writing. ($72) With this set you get 6 units, plus a full dice set and additional barricades/measuring rulers etc.
The rules set is simpler than most mini war games that I have played, though certainly more than you might be expecting if you are new to the genre.
Jolly good fun, game is simple to pick up but leaves loads of tactcial options, the gameplay is a nice refreshing change from the IGOUGO of games workshop games etc, also it’s STAR WARS, what’s not to love?
There is also a limited amount of terrain included in the box, which is a nice touch for anyone starting out in the wargaming hobby and will quickly turn the kitchen table into a battlefield. Once you’re ready to play, you will find a simplified set of rules included in the box. These take you through your first game and by the end of it you’ll be rolling the right dice at the right time without even needing to think about it. The gameplay itself manages to be both innovative and intuitive, with things moving very quickly from one player to the next.
For shooting and defending, the game uses custom polyhedral dice and various rigid card tokens. Movement an range-finding are simplified by the use of several plastic sticks, which helps speed up play. Not that the precise positioning you might get from a more traditional tape measure is a problem, but this innovation keeps things moving and keeps both players’ attention on the game at hand. There are rules for vehicles as well as troops and each side in this set comes with a hero, troops and a vehicle or two to make sure your first few games are nice and diverse.
There are far too many neat little ideas to mention here, but the deciding of initiative and which units get to do what (and in what order) is very neatly done. It manages to be very different to any other set of tabletop rules I’ve encountered and rewards repeated play. Like most games of this type, it’s intended to be a hobby as much as a game and players are encouraged to buy new models and build exciting tabletop landscapes to battle over, something I enjoy just as much as playing the game itself. However, if that’s not your thing, that’s okay too. The two different factions actually come with different coloured bases, allowing you to easily tell the two sides apart if you choose not to put brush to plastic, which I think is quite a thoughtful touch, and purpose-made playmats and terrain pieces are on the way to help make sure everyone that wants to enjoy the rules gets a chance to do so, regardless of their level of crafting skills and free time!
I think the big make or break question for this game is: “how does it compare to WH40K?” Actually, very well. The two games are so distinctly different that there’s no reason you couldn’t play and enjoy both. I like 40K. I like chucking 40 dice into a tray and looking for sixes. I also like rolling Darth Vader’s six red attack dice and looking for critical hit symbols!
Actually, the dice are probably my only gripe. It just feels like there aren’t enough in the box. Unsurprisingly, Fantasy Flight do sell a separate pack of dice which, in fairness, does then leave you feeling like you have enough. One thing I thought I was going to dislike, and something that will be familiar to players of X-Wing, is that I assumed, as was the case with that game, the equipment cards would be scattered across the various expansions, driving you to buy everything in order to build a competent force. So far, they seem to be keeping away from that business model and it’s a good thing. The use of upgrade cards might grate slightly on those that prefer a hand-written roster sheet but actually they work very well and make minor changes to your army easy to do.
So as games go, I think for the quality of the rules and models this deserves five stars. I’m going to knock one star off of this set because of the issue with the dice and also for the fact that it doesn’t come with the complete rules. These are available separately for download, but I’d have preferred to get a printed copy in the box along with the quick start guide.
But if you are a fan of tabletop gaming or Star Wars, I’d recommend this game to you. If you’re a fan of both then you probably didn’t even need to read this review; you’re probably already either playing or painting!
First impressions – very nice miniatures (some assembly required) and just to be absolutely clear you have to paint them yourself. It comes with 33 figures, balanced with two squads of 7 troopers plus a commander and a vechicle for each side (Rebels and Imperials at the height of the Rebellion era). Vechicles: For the rebels this is a AT-RT walker and for the imperials two speeder bikes (like in Return of the Jedi). Troopers fire and move as one, commanders move and act separately. The two bikes move as one.
There are some barriers to use as cover, lots of special dice (more on that later) a simple range rule and very nice movement and turn devices (3 sorts). Unit cards and upgrade cards and lots of markers, like wound tokens, aim tokens and the like.
To be clear there is no printed board (unlike Imperial Assault for example). The ‘board’ is what ever area you wish to play in, like a dinning room table or whatever. The idea is you are actively encouraged to make and use scenery, like trees and bunkers, which could be used from other games or made. Currently there is little official scenery of this type, but more is on the way.
This is very much a ‘hobby’ game, rather than a board game. It is complete game, but you are encouraged to buy more sets to build armies and paint them, and use scenery. It is a two player game by the way, but I can no reason why a third and fourth player could not control certain elements of the army I.e the walker, especially with bigger armies.
Currently you can buy additional stormtroopers and rebel soldiers, and a big imperial AT-ST Scout Walker (this is 40 plus and is MUCH bigger than the one in Imoerial Assault) and a snow-speeder type Rebel vechicle (T-47) which flies (I.e mounted on a pin). Coming soon are more ‘commander’ figures and snowtroopers, rebel commandos, and rebel fleet troopers to name a few. Who know what the future will bring, but it appears to be ‘original’ Star Wars for now, so no clone wars era, or current Resistance/New Order. Will this mean, armies of Ewoks, Jawas, or Sandpeople; I don’t know! Like-wise bounty hunters and other ‘neutrals’? who knows?
The game is fast – finished in 6 turns or about an hour. There are ‘order’ cards, unit upgrade cards, using a point system. The game I played the squads of troopers were only 5 strong, but this goes up to 7 with heavy weapons, included in the core set. Additional sets of troopers have 7 figures in them at around 20 depending on where you buy, so comparable with other hobby games war games such as Games Workshops 40K.
Criticisms: ok, I’ve only played once, but there’re is not enough dice. Dearth Vader uses 6 red 8-sided dice, there are only 3 in this set. So, ok, you just roll again but it’s a fiddle. Swapping between players the dice, also a fiddle. This is a “Fantasy Flight” thing – semi-forcing you to buy expensive special dice with strange symbols on them. All their big current games do this. Each further set cost 12- 14. Apart from that, I could see nothing major, but have not played all the rules. I’ve heard there is in fact a second rule book not included which you have to download and it’s 50 pages. This seems to be special rules, explanations and expections etc. But maybe unless you are a hard core gamer, this is not an issue. Regardless, the rules are much less than say Warhammer or even Frostgrave, at least on first glance, while at the same time allowing for lots of strategic thinking and flexibility.
I like the fact that troops moved and fired as one. And the basic troopers only had one ‘wound’ or hit point, and thus are removed one by one, reducing the squad and the fire power. 5 attack dice becoming 4, 3 then 2 etc, as troopers are killed. Commanders have more ‘hits’ and this is controlled by markers. What I wasn’t clear on was the fact a unit rolled defence dice equal to the incoming hits to ‘save’ it. In one case my 5 Stormtrooper squad fired on a single rebel and got 3 hits. The rebel rolled three defence dice and saved them all. Surely he would roll just one die, like when firing? We might have gotten the rules wrong on that one; happy to be corrected.
Anyway, in conclusion a very smart game and if you are familiar with Fantasy Flight you will recongnise many rule mechanics. For mums and dads buying the game for children be aware, there is no Board as such, lots of assembly and painting required and lots of potential extra expenses, in extra dice and figures. That said the price is comparable with many other miniature war games where this happens.
May the Force be with you (oh yes the commanders, Luke and Darth Vader do have Force type powers but we didn’t play those). And of course Die Rebel Scum!
