Easy to install if you have good information on car wiring at lights and a good route from camera to wires.
Pictures good, just a little fuzziness, this didn’t really cause any major issues when reversing.
Overall a good kit for the price

Bought it for my van, really helpful when on my own in a tight spot, with the guide bars on the screen really helps, once you work out how much room you have between the guide bars.

Fitted this to my 2015 Ford Transit Custom camper van conversion. Have placed the camera behind the licence plate as far to the right as possible without the camera mounting protruding behind the plate. I drilled the licence plate plate light fitting to get the cable from the camera into the door and managed to route it through the flexible ribbed hose that protects the existing rear lighting cable running from the door into the rear pillar behind the light cluster. Connected the red power wire to the reversing power wire from the rear light cluster fitting using a snap connector in which you can plug a spade connector. Similarly for the earth wire. Due to the short length of wire for the little power box to route it behind the rear light cluster I had to double its length with additional wires. Most of the job is routing the wires to get a neat installation. Having to route a dedicated cable all the way to the front of the van would have been a lot more work so happy with this wireless approach. The picture quality is good enough and I am pleased with the result. Too early to determine reliability but so far can highly recommend.
An update, the display no longer came on after a few months use, I often remove it from the clip on holder to get it out of the sun and must have pulled the wire. I contacted customer service and had a prompt response from Gigi who suggested checking the connection cable to the power supply after which all was fine and back in working order. Great and fast customer service. I have really found this unit helpful when reversing my van now that I have had more use from it.

Purchased this camera for my caravan, as a rear view camera to make it easier when overtaking & pulling back in, wired it into the number plate light, so it will be on all the time, as long as I have the side lights on the car. It was easy to install, picture quality is very good

I have had this auto vox back up camera for over a year now on my wife’s Mokka and she loves it. Picture quality is good. I had it fitted at a local garage ( about 40 ) but it is quite straight forward for the mechanically minded. Night vision on the monitor is also good .

I am very disappointed with the picture quality given the price. It is very low resolution. I was hoping to use this as a rearview camera on my caravan but I don’t think the image quality is good enough and that’s only on the bench testing it so I haven’t even tried the range as I’ve not installed it. I think I will be returning it. However, the Customer Support I have had from the seller has been great.

Great little camera so easy to fit took less than 10 minutes, this was fitted to a 2005 honda crv the number plate is recessed so I reshape the camera mount so the camera sat flush at the top of the recess this also moved the camera forward which I needed due to spare wheel mounted on rear door , so now the reversing lines allow me to reverse up to the yellow line which gives me 6 inches off the spare wheel , the tiny transmitter is fitted in the n/s panel leads are nice and long and everything you need to fit the system comes in the box

Had an issue with the monitor only showing a bright white screen when in reverse. Contacted Auto Vox and got and reply within a day and replacement monitor withing 2 days.
As for the set up it’s self, it switches the reverse image on very quickly and is easy to set up and install. For the money I would recommend it.

Installed to my Ford transit custom. My only advice: don’t install it under number plate, rather do it on top of the doors, gives very good view of the rear.

Works well for me. Fortunately my reversing lights are in the boot lid, near where I wanted to install the camera so an easy wiring job. Had intended to hardwire the front screen, but actually just used the ‘ciggie lighter’ plug instead. Night vision is adequate, though not exceptional. It struggles a bit when bright sun is shining directly on it but other than that it works well. If I had any complaint it’s that the field of view could be wider – if I angle it so I can see the tip of my tow bar then I can’t see stuff some distance behind.

I have installed this in my Transit Custom, fixing the camera to the top of the rear door and running the power lead to the reversing light harness on the back lights. The Sender box was mounted to the inside of the rear door using adhesive velcro and has stayed in place with no problem at all.

The monitor is windscreen mounted but, instead of using the accessory plug supplied as the socket on my Transit is constantly “live” I hard wired it to the fuse box, using a piggy back fuse on the “customer accessory” fuse space.

I also put a switch in line to the monitor, so I could turn it on after I had started the engine. I did this because the first key click on the ignition switch turns on the electrics and the monitor but then, as you turn the key through the next position to start the engine, it momentarily cuts the power to everything as the starter demands all power.

On occasion this caused the Monitor to fire up, then cut out and reboot, but it would then seem to get stuck on a bright screen. I guess the procedure never gave the monitor the opportunity to shut down properly and then reboot, as the power was not cut off long enoughunderstandable.

Fitting the manual switch cured this problem and the screen starts up really quickly and picks up the picture from the camera within about a second.

I really think the Monitor could do with an independent switch to turn it on/off, particularly if you use the accessory plug, and it is constantly “live” as in my case then, to avoid running the battery down, you have to unplug it. I would rather leave it plugged in and just press a switch to turn it on and off.

The whole set up works fineMy Transit has a bulkhead and the signal seems to penetrate this with no problem. There is plenty of up and down adjustment on the camera to get just the right position and the image on the monitor is really very good, even in low light.

To achieve all this, I contacted Auto Vox Customer Services by email a couple of times and the response from “Gigi’ was swift, with concise answers to my questions and tremendous follow up to see just how I was getting on.. The company is excellent to deal with

This reversing camera does exactly as it says it will do. You don’t have to hardwire and switch as I have.. Thats just me!!

Installation is straight forward with everything you need, supplied.

I’m delighted with this reversing camera wonderful not having the hassle of having to hardwire from rear to dash. The wireless system works really well.

I don’t think you would be disappointed buying this product but if you did run into a problem there is always the excellent customer service that I experienced.

his review is for autovox w7 pro version, i initially purched the w7 which in my opinion left a little to be disired, BUT, GIGI from boscam eu who sold me the original w7 read my review and very kindly offered to send me the pro version free of charge, i received the pro version and fitted it to my car, i can confirm that the pro version is outstanding, easy install (hardest part was getting the camera wire from outside to inside of car), clear crisp picture both day & night, stunning product all round, and Gigi from boscami cannot thank enough, after purchasing the non pro version i thought i was stuck with it, but although Gigi had no commitment to offer a replacement she did so absolutely top notch customer service highly recommend buying the w7 pro versio

Quick and easy to install, just 2 wires to connect!

Ive been using this for several weeks now on a LWB Sprinter, rather than place camera behind number plate I placed the camera above rear doors pointing downwards which now makes reversing a breeze and no longer a guessing game.

I contacted customer service to enquire about hard wiring the monitor, I received a reply with detailed instructions within 24 hours.

I’m am by no way qualified in the electronics or mechanics of a motor vehicle but after obtaining a quote from someone who is to install a back up camera for me at a cost of 500 I started exploring alternative solutions. I then came across this product. It was a matter of attaching two wires to the reverse wire and a ground point (any bolt connected directly to vehicle frame) and you’re good to go. The setup took me no more than 20 mins after ensuring I knew which cable I needed to connect to. Simple set up and saved me hundreds.

We bought a very old campervan with a diabolical reverse camera hence the purchase of a new one. This is proving to be excellent and such an asset on our van. We did have a bit of a problem installing it but through no fault of the camera as, despite having just passed the roadworthy certificate, we discovered that the reversing light wasn’t working at all. Once that was fixed, voil, it worked perfectly every time we placed the vehicle in reverse and is now giving us so much more confidence reversing into a blind situation. Very happy with it, thanks.

Great Product and even better Customer Service from Kacey at Auto Vox. It was very easy to install especially being wireless, the image quality is fantastic and it’s wide angle lens and night vision is brilliant, the screen auto powers on and off when the reverse gear is engaged as this lights up the reversing lights which in turn powers the camera and sends a wireless signal to the screen.

Installation is very straight forward. It includes a good length of wire on both the screen power adapter and also the camera wires. The camera power is connected to the reverse lights on the car, and once the camera has power (when in reverse) it automatically send a wireless signal and turns the screen on inside the vehicle.
The screen is powered via a cigarette lighter socket and has an additional USB port on the plug for charging your phone etc. The power cable is very long so you can route the wire behind panels and the dash board to create a nice clean installation. The screen has a flat back and comes with a window suction mount, so it can be mounted pretty much anywhere.

The camera quality is great, very clear and virtually lag free considering it’s transmitted wirelessly, and also wide angle and the night vision which are very good. The screen has an option to mirror the image, and you can also turn the grid/guidelines on and off.

However the best thing about this product is the customer service from Kacey at Auto Vox, I had an issue with the wireless cable after about 6 months and I was sent a new one within a few days of contacting customer service, not only that, I received a follow up email check everything was now OK. When I explained I had damaged the Number Plate Bracket and I asked where or how I could purchase a new part, to my surprise a new bracket was received in the post sent by Kacey free of charge. I have now purchased my second unit for another vehicle.

The fact that it is bluetooth appealed to me no need to run a cable up the car. Fitting is straightforward the camera and the bluetooth sender connect to the reverse light, for power and activation, and any nearby earth point. The screen plugs into the cigarette lighter/12v socket or as I did a spare fuse under the dash.
Remember measure twice and cut once. Test the continuity of your connections at every step as once you put the trim back in place and should it not work you will feel a right muppet.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGood service, wasn’t 100% sure this was going to be the right choice for the motorhome which is 7.5 metres and where I was going to affix it!
Having it high so i could get a good view was important, i already have a reversing camera installed for when in reverse.
Hopefully pics show how i attached to the Fammia ladder support which we don’t need, giving access to the above bed cupboards. and works great with the cupboard doors closed. The arial is line of sight to the screen mounted on the dash board.( currently showing the house window on screen.)
As a water safeguard I have filled in the back of the camera and mount with silicone gel as a waterproofer and to strengthen the mount connection which looked to me to be the weekest area of the design.
If you were mounting this camera low around the number plate it would be more than adequate.

Great product, i now have a great view of what is behind me when driving the motorhome.

Installation very easy just need to connect to reversing light to camera power cord and front part goes directly to cigarette lighter.

There no extra cables between, it connects directly threw its strong signal.
Display monitor very clear, colourful and slime design. It attached to suction cup and holds strongly even when go threw bumps.
It also displays reversing lines which has some benefit when reversing.
Overall nice simple design which helps a lot with safe reversing or fitting to tight places.

Camera comes in a nice box and installation can be straightforward. Works great during the day and in a low light, but is bit grainy at night time. There are few things that you may find bit annoying. First and biggest issue is that it comes with car lighter socket adapter. Adapter has additional USB port so you are able to connect another device to it. Why not just USB cable instead? Once the cable is brocken the camera screen will land in the bin! It also draws the power all the time its connected and blocks the socket. If your sat nav has lighter socker cable then you have to buy another gizmo to connect them both or keep switching between the two. Second issue is with the attachment of the rear camera. Sticky pads or bolt of your reg number plate. There is no other adapter, plate or mount as alternative. Not a massive problem but would be nice to have options.

You could park a car behind and not see it , or God forbid a child, so from a safety point it is essential to me. The picture is grand and the whole system works very well. Another thing I like is that it is dead simple . Very few confusing features to baffle you, just a clear image of what is behind you.

Another thing was the camera did stop working , maybe I knocked it or something. I phoned the company and was glad to speak to Joanne who sent me a new one super quick. Nice to deal with a real person who gets it sorted. Restores a bit of faith when you have efficient back up . Thanks Joanne.

Item arrived quicker than expected, well packaged.Camera & wiring easy to fit but took me an hour or to remove boot panels in order to feed cables from number plate which is situated on boot lid (BMW) & down the back of boot lining in order to conceal. The part that took the longest was the removal of the rear lighting cluster and locating which was the the reversing light wires in the plug as the light unit was a sealed unit, I had to look this up on the internet. All in all the camera, monitor & fitments are of reasonable quality and the monitor shows no loss of signal. Very pleased with my purchase and was a added bonus as I bought it on Prime Day..

This is an excellent product if you are looking for an easy to install and use reversing camera. The picture quality is very good for a wireless setup, the screen is clear and bright, and the communication between the camera and screen is reliable. Installation is extremely easy with just 2 wires to connect to the vehicle wiring. There is slight I reference with the vehicle ICE, with a very small amount of noise being heard through the speakers when the camera us in use. This us hardly noticable though. A well designed and made product that I would recommend.

A few months after I purchased my camera my vehicle was broken into and although the video screen was left the power supply was taken. I searched in vain for a replacement and finally submitted a query on Amazon to see if other users could help again to no avail. I did, however, receive a response from Auto Vox who asked for my invoice number and then despatched a replacement at no costs, all within a couple of days. What brilliant service.

A very good reversing camera for the price, simple to install being wire free, only two connections to the reversing light, if you need to use the Auto – Vox kit to hard wire it .
My daughter is really impressed with the image quality both day and night, any issues are always sorted out quickly and efficiently by Lily and the service team.
Great value for money unit which would also be ideal for use when towing a caravan etc.

I have a 26′ caravan and I tow with a Hilux Pickup so an overall length of around 44′ the camera fits behind the number plate on the caravan easily and picks power up from the number plate light. The image quality is very good despite the distance between the camera and display. Works as both a reversing aid and a rear view mirror.

I have just fitted this reversing camera to a new Dacia Logan MCV & everything works fine. There is a bit of work involved running the camera wire through the tailgate, the camera being mounted on the left hand side of the number plate, on this car the camera cable was approx. 300mm too short. It was difficult to connect the camera cable to the power cable socket,I had to try & push the connectors together at the cable entry hole on the car, if the cable had been longer I could have made the connection inside the car near the rear light. Having said that I am very pleased with the camera, the display comes on as soon as the reverse gear is selected. It is a good product and would recommend it.

Disappointed to say the least, camera struggles with what is similar to a slow memory card, the image stops as your reversing then jumps forward to catch up with your current position, not ideal when it’s your reversing eyes. Night vision is very grainy. The customer service in sorting my problem was 100% and that’s important during Any purchase

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersThe good: image quality is fine for reversing camera. Delay from selecting reverse to image appearing on screen is about 1 second which is fine. Quality of materials is good and sturdy. Instruction manual is clear. Installation is simple enough. On my car the wires for the lights are all feed through a wiring loom with no visible way to trace from reverse bulb to correct wire. The method described in the manual to identify reverse wire worked but be aware you need extra equipment (not included) to use this method to determine this wire. Any black wire should work for ground. Also be aware the included wire taps must be squeezed as far as possible with pliers to correctly function.

The bad: the camera itself is massive! It is designed to be placed behind the number plate which is where I have installed it. To get an accurate image it also needs to be slightly angle downwards and this partially obscured the number plate. I may need to reposition the number plate if stopped by police.
On many cars a central camera placement behind the number plate will block the boot release (it would on mine). The manual even has a graphic for placing camera non central. However, although you can choose from 6 parking grid lines you cannot move these line horizontally to adjust for an off centre camera placement.

With a more discreet sized camera and the ability to move the grid lines horizontally this would be a 5 star product.

    Good product overall but flawed

Camera and antenna really easy to install – took power feed from reversing light cable within rear light cluster and there was plenty of room to mount the antenna within the cluster as well (on a Mk8 Hilux).

I bought the camera for our 2019 mini cooper. the number plate is on the hatch which makes the wiring a lot more difficult. however I fitted the camera centrally under the bumper. there are some handy screws to fit to. in the o/s light access panel there are 2 grommets in the floor to thread the cable through. [drop a wire through from the inside] you can then pull the camera cable into the light and put the cable through the grommet. job done.
camera works well in this position.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThis item arrived in a quality box..simple thing I know but first impressions count and Auto-Vox were off to a great start. The comprehensive instructions were well printed in Queens English on lovley glossy paper the packing was first class with everything cushioned with in the box by spongy foam.

The camera and monitor feel well made and come with more than enough cable to wire to my liking in a large 4X4 I am fussy and concealed all wiring within the vehicle.

Comissioning was simple and straight forward no connectivity issues and the image quality is better than i was expecting colours are good and night time operation was first class to.

Installed on motorhome with rear camera mounted in middle under number plate, wire passed through to underside of vehicle with wireless sender unit left outside under bumper. Works great with good wireless signal giving an excellent picture, was a bit dubious about leaving sender outside but it taped up with duck tape just leaving the small aerial on show. Very pleased with this item. Any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersBought to fit an old Honda HRV. Wiring to reversing lights was in side pillars, not in tail gate, so not available to pick up power. After much time spent trying to figure out to overcome this, and watching lots of videos, I went for attaching to number plate lights, so just need to turn on side lights to activate camera which works fine. Haven’t tried it at night so can’t comment on that.

Do plan the work carefully. Any holes drilled in steel will need to be rust proofed and fit a grommet to protect the wiring.
Allow plenty of length where cables have to flex, say, at doors, tailgates, boot lids or bonnets.
Whilst the screen is easy to fit, the camera unit can be tricky, especially on a Renault Trafic door as you can’t thread the wiring through the flexible cable feed at the hinge end. Had to drill a hole below the plastic 1/4 light and tie it in the inner steel cavity with the transmitter. The camera was fitted with a wedge so that it pointed straight behind my van.
The night image is much better than on my Honda Jazz!

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI chose the AUTO-VOX W-7 because of the technical reviews most of which placed this camera at the top of the desired list. Having had the camera installed I would thoroughly recommend this product for all aspects – quality materials, well made, great design and well packaged. The camera and monitor were installed, tested and worked perfectly straight out of the box – all within 45 minutes. The customer service from the manufacturer(thank you Joanne) is also first class – my inquiry about obtaining an extension lead was answered immediately and although out of their stocks they provided a link to a supplier on Amazon and offered to re-imburse any costs incurred (fortunately I was wrong as the lead supplied was in fact the right length for my vehicle). I got the reverse camera as my car is only fitted with parking sensors, which are not that helpful at times. As I tend to hit things when reversing, this cam came in really handy. The display seems robustly designed and it gives the option to adjust the image, like flip it and change the luminosity. The image quality is also better than expected. What I like the most is that it didn’t take long to pair, once I wired up the back cam, the the display turned on automatically.it was really straightforward. in short, this actually does what it says on the tin – very happy with my purchase

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersPurchased this one as an alternative to an official retro fit product which would have cost over 500. I am yet to fully fit the camera permanently but have been testing it beforehand. The quality of the camera is much better then I initially expected and is quite subtle when in place. The monitor and cradle are very good quality.
Will look to update my review in a few weeks once fully installed and fully tested.

A cheaper alternative to a retro fit camera.

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersFantastic bit of kit. It was very easy to install especially being wireless, the image quality is fantastic and it’s wide angle lens and night vision is brilliant, the screen auto powers on and off when the reverse camera has power. It all works very well.

Installation is quite straight forward. It includes a good length of wire on both the screen power adapter and also the camera wires. The camera power is connected to the reverse lights on the car, and once the camera has power (when in reverse) it automatically send a wireless signal and turns the screen on inside the car.
The screen is powered via a cigarette lighter socket and has a USB port on the plug for charging your phone etc. The power cable is very long so you can route the wire behind panels and the dash board to create a nice clean installation. The screen has a flat back and comes with a window suction mount, so it can be mounted pretty much anywhere.

The camera quality is great, very clear and lag free considering it’s transmitted wirelessly, and also wide angle and the night vision which are very good. The screen has an option to mirror the image, and you can turn the guide lines on and off, plus some other settings in the screen menu. The screen automatically turns on when the camera unit received power and starts transmitting, and then the screen turns itself off when the camera loses power.

Fantastic kit, brilliant quality camera, easy to install.

Golden Review Award: 44 From Our UsersI have just purchased a VW T6 Transporter for camping trips for my family. It is a LWB model and I was really struggling when reversing into parking bays and spaces. Judging the distance between the back doors and the car behind, or a barrier was nigh on impossible. Having just spend a fortune on the van I needed to find a resolution quickly to prevent a prang.
On researching reversing cameras I was limited to what I could choose as my stereo head unit does not have a video input.
Auto-vox was quickly ticking all the boxes as I could fit the device wirelessly. I really didn’t want to remove my vans soundproofing inside the cab. Running it through the roof lining also wasn’t an option as we have a ‘pop top’ roof fitted.
The W-7 looked like a nice aesthetic unit from the pictures displayed on Amazon so I bit the bullet and ordered the unit.
On arrival I wasn’t disappointed at all. The monitor is a nice size, well built and easy to operate.
The following day I set about installing the device in my van. In total it took around 2-3 hours, but the majority of this time was taken by me being a perfectionist and wanted it to look like a professional install.
I started by removing my number plate and finding a suitable mounting point for the camera. I wanted it as central as possible.
I loosened off the door handle trim and drilled a small 5mm hole just to the side of the number plate light to allow the wiring to be fed into the door panelling and through the rubber hole grommet.
The door card had been removed and the door mechanism loosened to allow access to the mounts and wiring. I connected the power box & antenna to the camera wiring and looped it within the door casing.
To ensure the best possible signal reception I placed a double sided sticky pad on the antenna and stuck it on the door housing neatly. See photo attached.
It was at this stage that I realised that the length of wiring to be fed through my vans ribbed rubber cable housing was going to be too short to reach into the van, back out of the rubber grommet and into the light cluster. Maybe this would be a good manufacturing consideration for the future.
I decided to make a connection of suitable electrical wire to extend the live feed and ground wire supplied. I personally stripped back the wiring from an old iron and used the brown wire to match up to my vans ground wire, and the blue to connect to the live feed. These were connected using a wiring connector block and then fed through the grommets to the light cluster.
The above process sounds complicated, but it really isn’t. The hardest part was getting the wiring through the 12″ ribbed rubber wiring loom housing. For this I just used a cheap flexible metal feeder from my local hardware store. A wire coat hanger would be sufficient had we possessed one from our 4 million hangers in my wife’s wardrobe.
The trims were replaced and I hooked up the monitor to the 12v lighter socket.
I put my van in reverse and ‘boom’ it was up and running. The display is very clear with no lag at all. A quick adjustment of the camera position and everything was done.
I’ve been using this camera now for 3 days, and what a comfort it gives me knowing I’m not likely to reverse into another object.
The wireless facility was the selling point for me and it doesn’t disappoint at all. In fact I have recommended the unit to other members of a VW forum I’m in due to it’s functionality.
The one and only negative I would give this unit is the length of the wiring from the power unit to the light cluster. This would no doubt be no issue if it was to be installed in a car, but it needs rectifying for larger vehicles. The monitor to power supply is very long, yet this section is just too short. Maybe supply with a longer wire, or offer one as an addition as an optional extra.
All in all, this is a great unit, looks good on my dash and is relatively easy to install. Highly recommended.

Fantastic purchase for peace of mind when reversing.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersVery quick and easy to install.

I just connected the camera power to the reverse light power and plugged in the display to the 12v plug and away we go. It connected wirelessly straight away and the wifi connection seems stable..no jitters or delay. The image quality is reasonable, not high resolution but fine just for a reversing camera.

This is the second Auto-Vox product I have and I’m happy with their products.
I wouldn’t call the prices cheap but then the quality of the products is very high.

All cables and parts are provided for installing.
The instructions are thorough and in a number of languages.
Very well packaged and good quality.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersI recently bought a new car which didn’t have parking sensors. I was contemplating on getting parking sensors fitted which was going to cost me a lot, until I came across this product.

This worked out to be 1/3 cheaper than getting sensors fitted in. It works absolutely amazing. The large screen sits nicely on the dash and makes it a real easy job to reverse the car in. The parking lines that come up works like a treat.

It worried me at first with the camera as it’s rains a lot, but luckily the camera is weatherproof. The charger can be plugged in to charge the screen whilst having another port on it to charge your phone at the same time which is really handy.

    Great product!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI fitted this camera kit to my (large) car after having some issues with the built-in reversing camera.

Fitting is very, very simple. I’ve had other non-wireless aftermarket reversing cameras and it’s a right pain to run the cable from the front of the car to the rear – no need to worry with this! I fitted it to an 8-seater van-sized MPV and had zero problems with signal, the picture came through clearly every time. It’s supplied with a stubby antenna for the display unit, but it’s just a standard SMA connector so could be easily replaced with something else should it ever be necessary – not that I think you’d ever have to, as the specifications state that it will transmit up to 100m line-of-sight.

The camera itself requires just two connections, one to any fixed ground point, and the other to the power to the reversing light (attached via the included “Scotchlok” quick-splice style connector). As soon as reverse is engaged, power is supplied to the camera and the screen springs in to life to display a clear view behind you. When power to the camera is disconnected (ie the reverse light is turned off) then the screen switches off and is therefore not at all distracting when not in use.

The supplied dashboard/screen mount is basic but does the job, and pleasingly sticks to my textured dashboard well; many others I’ve had in the past just refuse to stay put. It’s helped by the fact that the screen is extremely lightweight so it doesn’t move, bounce or rattle when driving. The 12v accessory socket power supply (rated at 3A) thoughtfully includes a USB charging port so it doesn’t have to stop you charging your phone if you only have the one socket. Alternatively, invest in an inexpensive hardwire kit and keep all the cables nicely tucked out of the way.

The rear camera itself is solidly built and fairly large (see photo) but well designed in that the mount can be removed and re-fitted in different orientations. It can be tilted down by up to 30 degrees. There’s no way to change the vertical display orientation from the display unit, so make sure you’ve not mounted it upside down! Viewing angle is 110 degrees – not too wide, but fine for a reversing camera.

On the display unit itself, there are just three buttons for bringing up and navigating the menu. It’s very simple – just options for pairing the monitor with a new camera (it comes pre-paired, so you’ll probably never have to do this), brightness/contrast, mirror/normal image, and (de)activating the parking guide lines. I love the fact that it has mirror/normal image options, so it could be used for a wireless front view if you already have a reversing camera – know exactly how far from that wall your nose is!

The parking guidelines can also be changed, there are six different sizes to accommodate different vehicle sizes and camera mounting positions – a nice touch.

The display is a neat 5″, and although the resolution might sound a little low at 480×272 that’s actually plenty high enough for a screen of this size, especially as it’s mainly being used to check for obstacles when reversing. The unit is small enough to sit neatly out of the way when driving but large enough for a good view when needed.

All in all this is a nicely thought out, simple to install, good quality reversing camera system. Instructions are clear and comprehensive, and Auto-Vox support has always been quick to respond whenever I’ve needed them.

Nicely thought out, simple to install, good quality reversing camera

Golden Review Award: 37 From Our UsersWhen i bought it thought that i will have to go for electrical fitter to help me fit it but after reading the manual and watching an youtube video i said ,, well, i can do that myself, can save some money” the process to install it very very easy, i think everyone can do that. Cause it’s wireless camera you don’t need to pull all these cables . You just plug the monitor into the socket and you connect the camera to your reversing light cable, that’s it, job done. Very quick pairing, just as soon as you move into reverse gear the image will show up on monitor. Image quality on monitor is very good. Is made of very solid plastic and it feels of a good quality, friend of mine that helped me to fit it now thinks to buy one as well. Also, you can adjust the brightness from monitor settings and guide lines. I was thinking that if this monitor would have a TF card and would allow to watch movies in my oppinikn would make the best reversing camera on market, but, probably i ask to much. So far so good, happy with it. May be is little bit expensive but you should consider that you won’t waste money for fitting cause you can do it yourself and also you get a quality product. Highly recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersI bought this for the van I am getting soon and was going to try it out on the car but you have to wire it into the rear lights, so I haven’t been able to do it in the car as I don’t want to tinker with the car electrics. It is perfect for vans and large vehicles as it has a wireless link from the camera to the screen. It comes with everything you need to set it up including wire taps for the rear camera, though you might want to strip the wires a little more! The kit feels well built and robust, especially the camera housing. The instructions are clear and well written. The cables have really small plugs on them where they have to go through holes which is great, something often missed! A nice detail. Recommended kit! Can’t wait to use it!

    Great for vans and lorries
