This is really not mentioned in any of the documentation unless you go on line.
Good product, but feel that this is a bit misleading if you are looking for help later on.
For the price you can get this new Beringer or you can get an older used price from a brand like art or dbx; but it won’t have nearly the feature set.
Absolutely amazing high quality soundeffects. Easy to use with 2 effect engines. Absolutely noiseless for your studio recordings. Can be controlled by midi. Im getting more and more fan of Beringer.
Very versatile and feature rich unit. Only slight down side is the menu diving to reach parameters which is a little overwhelming at first. Great vfm.
his is a very good processor as i said before i use Behringers units alot well wought the money
I’m very grateful for the delivery of my effects processor. It’s in perfect condition and I shall be using Amazon for making many more purchases in the future.
Thanks for making my life so easy.
Chris Martin.
I bought this unit to add delay to my Blackmagic Atem Television Studio HD rack case. The instructions to ‘just’ add delay and not other effects were not easily understandable but thanks to reviewer Matthew T, he included simple instructions in his review to accomplish this. When you consider the cost of a delay unit from video-centric brands, the cost of this unit is a drop in the bucket. I gave four stars due to the complex way instructions are laid out.
Has great Fx sounds, I needed it for my Recording Studio and was the best choice I made, I have no cons about it. Has the Cath, Plat, Stud Fx and many many more. If you want to give some nice bright sound to your voice, I definitely recommend it.
I love it, but do get a stereo fx send track mixe
Bought this very well built inexpensive effects unit for my home studio. Very happy with the unit and glad it is through a local business, Cosmos. They usually have great customer service. Highly recommended
Yes it’s totally functional & a great effects unit, more than I expected. I’m using it with an old Tascam mixer &wasn’t expecting it to function with the analogue circuiting but it’s operating great!
Great piece of gear so many options for such a small price arrived on time well packaged absolutely love it. Would highly recommend.
This is a brilliant effects unit.
I use it often when doing my internet radio show.
It has 100 pre programmed & 100 programmable presets.
That is more then enough for my intentional usage.
At this price 102.00 you really can’t go wrong. Not the best but certainly not the worst. I bought it for the delay but there’s awesome other effects to play with.
The design and functionality of this is impressive. The effects are pretty good.
Music equipment manufactures need to rerelease a few more tried and true pieces like these from the eighties and nineties . that was the good stuff… I remember seeing this effects machine years ago. By far it doesn’t have the bells and whistles of the new stuff of today, but it is
because of the rugged studio look and simple capabilities of this machine that is a breeze to pull out during live vocals , and mix down.
I’m using this with several other Behringer FX2000’s for all vocal, guitar and compressor needs. The vast array of preprogrammed effects is great but the ability to fine tune and save new settings for individual members is fantastic
Behringer gets a bad name a lot of the time but I think they make some good stuff and this unit is one of them. I like to have individual effects units and equalizers on my synthesizers so these are a great way to do that relatively “cheaply”. I know you can do a lot in software but I am old school in a lot of my production and there is nothing like playing with the effect in real time with knobs.
This unit provides a simple way to add lots of effects to your sound mixer. Provides a wide variety of echo and reverb effects among others including phasers, flangers and chorusing as the basics. You can also design custom effects. Good value for the money! The Manuel provides adequate information for you to get hooked up and started. A lot of time can be spent discovering all this unit has to offer.
Package arrived a week earlier than indicated, well packaged and ready to go. Utilizing with an Allen and Heath 24×4 console via aux send as a vocal reverb for worship team production. The unit is quiet and sounds great, perfect low cost solution for our needs. Behringer products have always been a cost effective choice over my 30+ years of media production since their products arrived in the market.
I am using it on drums bass and vocals at the moment I intend using it with the guitar at some poi
A bit complex some of the effects are just o.k , does the job
I use this both in a mono setup between a monophonic synthesizer and an amp and a stereo setup between my computer and speaker system. Great effects, fully MIDI controllable, great for recording, cleaning up old tapes and 78 RPM records.
Documentation is kind of lacking and there aren’t any really helpful YouTube videos about using this unit , so I haven’t gotten into MIDI implementation, saving/loading presets etc. but it’s easy enough to figure out the main effects and controls.
The directions are a little lacking, but a few YouTube videos and I was off to the races. Still much to learn because it does so much.
The sound quality is very good. I’m using it as an outboard effect on my TASCAM DP-24. I really like that it’s true stereo. The ping pong delay is awesome, I’ll try not to use it way too much. At this point I’ve hardly gotten through half of the effects, but I’m impressed so fa
The one word in the headline is all it needs for a review.
Love it for what it is barely do anything with but when I do it’s good stuff
I use this for additional effects for guitar, bass and vocals. I have to use a guitar foot pedal with this unit just because there is not many distortion effects built in, and the few that are there do not sound to good for what I want. The other 99% of the effects are Amazing!!! I love the reverb and delay that I add on top of my distortion foot pedal. The reverb alone can be turned up so high that it is ridiculous!!! But you can dial it all in just right. All the effects can be fine tuned to get the just right sound you are looking for! Its A great addition to my home studio as well as using it live at my church for electric guitar. I love that you can plug it into an aux input on a mixer and add effects to anything and everything that you plug into a mixer. Guitar both electric and acoustic, bass guitar, keyboard, electric drums, and vocals!!! You name it and you can add amazing sounding effects to it!!! I love this thing! Just wish it didn’t come twisted to where it doesn’t sit flat on a table or in the rack.
his processor I quite amazing, and the price is a great value
It is good. Control it us somewhat confuse at the beginning.
arrived on time and well packaged, so many adjustments and settings to go through and will take time to perfect but on a quick play sounds awesome
Fit on top of my amp, small and light works like a charm.
I bought this unit to replace an Alesis Midiverb that I had had since the eighties and wasn’t expecting too much with the low price and I don’t usually think of Behringer as being as good as other better known brands. How wrong I was. I have just spent about 2 hours listening to the 100 internal fixed patches and just a few of the User editable patches with studio monitor headphones. The quality of the patches is astonishing, from the incredible cathedral reverbs through all the other types of reverb, lush choruses, delays, Leslie effects – the list is endless. There are also great insert effects for recording. I found I was so captivated by the beauty of different sounds that I just couldn’t put my guitar down and in fact felt inspired to write music. The sounds make the Alesis sound utilitarian. For 90 this unit is simply amazing. No, correction, this unit is simply amazing fullstop! I am running mine from an Alto ZMX122 mixer which is also an amazing piece of kit for the price on Amazon.
Good machine for the price love the voice changer ones you setup up good
I have barely scratched the surface of this unit and I can already say that this thing is worth every single penny. In fact, I am shocked it isn’t more expensive than it is. I currently have it patched into my mixer allowing me to add effects globally to every channel or to just my mic or guitar alone. There is so much packed into this rack. Definitely a great purchase; one I wish I would have made long ago.
The good: Sound is great for the $
The bad: instructio
This is a great value FX unit but let down by very poor MIDI implementation. Behringer chose to use the unassigned MIDI controllers. Really bad idea. These are the exact same controllers excluded from being sent or received by other MIDI equipment (Yamaha, Roland…). There is no MIDI clock sync for the delays either. Good poly pitch shifter and modulation FX so still earns a place in the outboard rack. Would have been awesome with standard MIDI controller assignment.
This unit operates nicely, it kook a bit of time to master its operation.
An orchestra in its own right used in tandem with effects pedals or DAW.
I use the Behringer FX2000 with a Behringer Xenyx 802 mic mixer, an AudioSource 50watt stereo amp and 2 homemade speakers for karaoke. Along with 2 good quality mics, mic stands and all the cables the total cost was $440.00.
The karaoke music and words are from a laptop connected to a separate home theater system.
This is one of those purchases that I have been putting off for a while because it isn’t absolutely necessary for what I do. I already have an onboard FX processor in my Mackie mixer which does the basics for what I do with voiceover work and podcasting. But I am a gadget nerd and have been that way since I was a 10-year old kid in the 70’s. Given the discounted price that I found by an alternate seller, I decided to buy it. I installed this unit with no issues, but like many others who have reviewed this product, I find the instruction manual that came in the box to be less than helpful. That seems to be the case with Behringer product manuals in general as I found the same to be true for the Behringer mixer that I used to have. The good news is that there is a more detailed manual online that gives better explanations for what each button and knob does. I have had this product for only a day so I may come back to this review after I have had some time to work with it. I have 40 years experience working with various audio and video equipment, but I know there is going to be a learning curve with this unit before I will be able to put the manual away.
As a hobby-level synthesizer user, I find the Virtualizer does what I want without setting me back four figures. It does have its limitations, of course, perhaps the most significant of which is that its two “ins” and two “outs” are routed through the effects in hard-wired paths. It is not endlessly configurable in that sense, but I’m not a professional musician or audio editor/technician — it is flexible enough for a hobbyist. In addition, the individual effects have anywhere from 2 to 6 configurable parameters which can be stored in 100 user presets for rapid retrieval. With more than seventy canned “algorithms” to choose among, it’s easy to get a basic effect dialed up and then tweak its editable behaviors, then store the result for quick recall later. (It gets quicker as you learn the sequence in which the algorithms are arranged.) Mine is working fine with no hiccups thus far. We’ll see how it holds up over time, but for $129.99 I’m satisfied.
Very nice efects, but a little tricky to setup New presets
Extremely flexible with a great range of effects and great value.
This thing is amazing. I hooked this up in parallel with a Behringer 31 frequency graphic equalizer connected to a Yamaha R-S700 receiver driving two Polk Audio TSi300 speakers and two old 80 watt Pioneer floor speakers (1980s vintage, but still functional) and the effects of the two working together are incredible. With 71 algorithms and 200 presets, which can all be custom edited to suit your tastes in sound and stored, you can create virtually any sound effect you desire. It does feature an equalizer effect and adjustable low cut, but its effect is nominal compared to the HD graphic equalizer so I don’t use that, but there are 12 different edit modes so you can do virtually anything with it. Once adjusted, there is a Mix knob to increase or decrease the overall effect at a touch. It also has powerful output. I noticed very quickly I had to turn the gain down and there is a button select on the rear panel to go from +10db down to -4db which took care of the frequency clipping I noticed at higher volume settings initially. You do have to turn this on first and off last or you will get a pop through your speakers, but that isn’t big deal. Given its functionality, it can’t be beaten for the price.
Works fine. The manual (hard copy and online) needs work, though.
Awesome Device ! I use it for live sound mostly vocals; and will use for recording later. Effects are really great!
This is the third type of delay I purchased to get my video recording gear to lip sync. It is the charm. This unit sounds great and has zero crosstalk and bleed like others I have tried. The setup is not the easiest, but for the price it’s understandable. Read the great review post about how to set this up for delay use.
Very nice effects very clean. Only one problem it is kind of hard to figure out. Instruction book is terrible. The high quality sound makes up for the lack of instructions. Would give it a five star if there were instructions but it took me about three days to kind of figure it out , and almost two weeks to completely get it . Overall a very nice effects processer w once you get i
I am truly amazed by this processor. I hooked it up to my Mackie 26 channel mixer that the built in effects had quit working in. This processor added so much clarity and power to our vocals, the instruments, and I even play the digital music through it on a chorus/reverb setting and it added so much life to the sound. Lots of functions to learn but that is the fun part.
I purchased this unit to function as a delay for my whole house stereo. The Zone 2 preout timing on my Denon receiver didn’t quite match up with the 7.1 Main Zone. This is because Zone 2 on my Denon receiver (AVR-X2200W) can only pass analog signals (had to hook up RCA in addition to HDMI), so the processed digital signal lags slightly behind the straight analog signal.
Since I couldn’t seem to find a spec for this listed anywhere, I’ll let you know that the MAX Stereo Delay is a whopping 5.499 seconds! This is adjustable in coarse (100ms) and fine (1ms) increments.
I had a bit of trouble with the initial setup due to the cryptic instructions, so I figured I’d include some simple instructions on how to set a straight delay with NO echo:
1. Hook up the unit and power on (make sure amp power is OFF when you turn on the unit, else it will POP loudly)
2. Press the EFFECTS button
3. Turn the LARGE black dial clockwise until the screen shows DLAY (it’s number 13 on the effects list, you shouldn’t have to go far)
4. Turn the MIX knob all the way clockwise until it reads 100 (100% wet = full effects)
5. Press EDIT to change the light on the row with the 4 dials to show row [Edit E, Edit F, EQ LO, EQ HI]
6. Turn the first and second knobs (E and F) all the way counter-clockwise to zero (0) to eliminate all feedback (echo)
7. Press EDIT again to return the light on the row with the 4 dials to show row [Edit A,Edit B,Edit C,Edit D]
8. Use A and C to make coarse (100ms) adjustments to the output delay for each channel
9. Use B and D to make fine (1ms) adjustments to the output delay for each channel
10. Once you’ve tweaked to your heart’s content, press the blinking STORE button
11. While the LCD display is flashing, select a user preset storage location using the LARGE black dial (i.e., U.001 – U.100)
12. Press STORE again to SAVE
Note: Minor annoyance… The 1ms fine adjustment will NOT go past 99ms (it does not roll up to the next 100ms value). For example, if you are trying to go from 199ms to 212ms, you must use the coarse adjustment to move up to 299ms, then roll back to 212ms using the fine adjustment.
Just for reference purposes, my perfect delay was 140ms. Yours will probably be different.
I hope someone finds this helpful!
EDIT: You may need to create different user presets for different sources on your receiver (if you have a setup like mine) due to the type of input connection, digital decoding, features like lip sync, and so on. The delay amount of 140ms was in reference to my CBL/SAT source.
Excellent tool for the price, able to emulate many classic effects unit. Good UI and MIDI control too.
Some people say negative thinks about this wonderfull unit. Well, do you own opinion.
I have been in the music business for 50 years and i can tell you that most of the “reverb” effets in this unit are excellent.
So, buy with confidence.
Cheers…
A little difficult to program but it does what I wanted.
I own and operate an electronic sound-recording-studio. the BEHRINGER FX.2000 MULTI-FX PROCESSOR UNIT is a superb piece of studio
equipment.
the AMAZON price of below 100 per unit is truly exceptional value for money.
i fully recommend the BEHRINGER FX.2000 PROCESSOR as sold by AMAZON.
THANKYOU AMAZON.
This is a great item, I just love it. I use it on my Mackie 1402 board, and what a difference it makes in vocals, and instruments.
Nice once you get it figured out. Don’t expect much guidance from the manual
I bought this unit because I need to run delay speakers at outdoor festivals. So far it works perfectly. Since I only use one function, I can’t comment on any of the other effects, but so far as a delay unit for very little money, it works perfectly. Totally adjustable, which is critical.
Awesome unit and excellent build quality! I connected this unit into my home stereo system! Wow!!! Sounds great and gives me a lot more flexibility.
I have a Lexicon PCM-92, for the price of it I could have bought 13.8 of this processor. When it comes to sound quality, the Virtualizer delivers, love the reverbs and pitch change features, great sounds on vocals.
It’s a little bit intensive to create your own presets but worth the effort, everything is laid out to be used easily.
At this price there is nothing to complain about, if you need a reverb buy this one, it has a sweet tone like my Lexicon.
Good music to all!

Professional Here. Great sound and effects. The menu is a tad pain to change settings but once you do you can save them and things become easier. For the money this is one of the best you can get.
very good machine and lots of different sound offered with it, easy to operate too
Great little toy. Takes a awhile to figure it out. Manual is not all that clear, but there a couple of tutorials from users on You Tube.
I use this Unit to improve the sound of MP3s and the compress sound of LPs ( I am the only 1 with 5K albums and I don’t like that compressed signal with surface noise and tape hiss sound. don’t get me started on Mono records) to Beautiful High Res.Digital Audio. Beringer FX2000 is a great product for this type of task.!!!!
Great for the price. Note that it does not allow layering of FX except for specific presets (Verb/Delay, Delay/Mod, Verb/Mod). All digital processing, but quality is quite good. The EQ is very limited (6-bands, preset frequencies) but decent quality.
A/D Converters are getting better and better. This unit stays in the house, and we’re getting two more. We’ve owned, tried, and sold almost all the sub-$1000 rack FX units on the market for guitar– TC GMajor/etc., Digitech 1101s, Lexicon MXs, Voodu Valves– they all mute and remove tube chime and tube tone in our tube guitar racks. I tried this on a whim as an effects pedal replacement, and it’s the cleanest digital box we’ve put in the racks with our vintage tube gear. It’s that nice. You’d have to go over a grand to beat the tone, in a rack format. It’s got nicer conversion than the 96k DEQ2496. I assume that’s just newness? I think it’s just shy of the Eventide H9 as far as preserving tube characteristics at both low and high gain. Spectacular for the price.
Issues:
There is a slight delay when switching presets. I’ll use this with MIDI looping for live off/on if I need realtime FX switching.
Also, if you set this unit to follow MIDI Program Changes, it follows with Internal 1, Internal 2, etc. 0-99, and NOT with the user bank, 1-100 which is “bank 2”. So by default it will NOT just follow Program Changes on your user-customized saved settings. It will only follow by default on the ROM presets, which is a drag. You can send a bank 2 command, or leave it on bank 2 / User / ROM when you power it off and on, etc.– but some MIDI out will just kick it back to internal every Program Change. Even if you slave it to something that doesn’t send default bank 1 Program Changes– it has no way of selecting 0-99 instead of 1-100, so if you get it to stay on bank 2 / User / ROM, it will often be one numeral off. This is a throwback to lots of well-established professional keyboard gear, that has historically thought NOTHING of randomly putting user presets into higher banks, and forcing you to either get a MIDI event processor to manually add a bank 2 command to every Program Change, or programming a better floor controller to send multiple commands on Program Change to the MIDI channel the unit lives on. So, this was lazy and really unfortunate. You can fix the problem with a cheap MIDI Solutions event processor blackbox, or use a nice programmable controller to send custom Program Changes.
So, that’s what you live with, in exchange for pretty pristine amp tone, somehow magically coming through the damn thing. Really nice sound. Really old-school lazy MIDI implementation. The best digital ODs I’ve heard, great reverb (the presets are too much, tone them down) and a phenomenal auto-wah with multiple settings. I’ve even already found two nice univibe settings, which absolutely blow a pedal like the Shaky Jimi waaaaay out of the water.
This is a pretty good effects unit for cheap, to put it simply. It has the basics like reverbs, delays and stuff. The sound quality is better than what I’ve come to expect from Behringer stuff, so that is always good, I haven’t had any issues with noise or clarity with this unit. Overall, I’d probably recommend this to anybody that needs basic rack effects for cheap.
I’ve spent about 2 weeks playing around with this processor, and have barely begun to learn all that it’s capable of. From live sound to tweaking samples, this product has a ton of possible uses. Very affordable as well. So far, very pleased. Looking forward to hearing what other possibilities this processor can offer.
I read up on various FX units before plumping for the Behringer; to beat this combination of spec, range of FXs and usability you would have to buy more than one unit, or very expensive unit! I have several bits of Behringer Kit in my studio and all are good; I was actually surprised that this machine was even better than I expected, virtually no noise at all and the reverbs (always a test) are excellent. There’s even knobs on the front to make it easy to play with the key parameters, bypass switch is easy to use (amazing how some rack machines aren’t good at that!) and the Midi does what I want it to do. I haven’t tried the 3D effects but not the reason I bought the unit.
Hooked it up to my PA system and wow! Love it!
I have only tested this product for a day but I put it through the ropes. I didn’t buy this for a guitar but purchased it to add reverb to my sax. It has many more presets than using my mixer, and I can custom blend what I need. There is an excellent manual on the internet which goes into great detail. This unit will do much more than what I need but the effects portion for reverb is really excellent. I have other Behringer products and they have never let me down. I have been a musician for 55 years and I know when something sound good. I have had my own recording studio for 10 yrs or more and I don’t use a computer…all boxes. I want to turn a knob or push a button. After I play with this unit for a while, I will repost////
This is an “ask” rather than a review! I want a reverb purely for vocal use for 60’s 70’s stuff such as Roy Orbison,Elvis etc.;will this
model fit the bill? It’s only for home usage, but I want a “good sound”!
My Euro-Rack on-board effects module died a couple of months ago and I wanted to have a new hardware unit to replace it (rather than using plugins which are always lagging a bit). This box does the job, is very similar to the old on-board effects and has a little more flexibility in modifying the parameters of the effects. For me, very good value for the price, has pretty much alway for Behringer’s products.
Excellent !!!! I am very pleased with this deal. I checked a few sellers and I’m very happy this seller. Super fast delivery.
You get a lot for your money. Behringer has had a poor reputation but so far, no problems with this and other kit, me and my band mates have from this company.
i don’t have a lot of money. so i took a chance on this. i only use it for vocals. i do like the midi implementation (if you’re in to that sort of thing). it has good delay and on the spot sampling. just remember it is digital, so you really aren’t going to get any warmth from this. to sum it up: i don’t regret buying it.
i love it it has a lot of good presets. Also i have not used it live but it seems to have no noises such as unnecessary ground faults and no hisses ir clicks it seems to be quiet circuitry. i use it in my home studio i would suggest this and was a great price and appears to be built really well.
INTRO
I have had the Behringer FX2000 3D for 12 days now. I have played with it for many hours each day after work and on the weekends. I’ve used every single setting there is for all the effects. I figured out all the menu options pretty quickly, mostly without reading the manual. It’s pretty easy to use for this type of effects box. It’s so jam packed with effects and options. I love it.
BUILD QUALITY
The quality of the build is fantastic. I love the rubbery slip free feel of the knobs and I like the solid feel of the switches. It has durable metal housing also. It’s built like a tank. I have had zero problems with this unit. There are no software glitches. Everything works perfects and reliably 100% of the time.
SOUND QUALITY
The sound quality is really good for most of the effects. The pitch shift effect is the main exception to this (see below).
I found the reverb and echo effects to be of very good quality. They sound realistic. There are quite enough options to keep me happy. I was able to get that cosmic mind blowing reverb some people seek, especially in the trance scene, by setting the reverb controls just right for the cathedral reverb effect.
Other than the digital artifacts present in the pitch shift effect (see below), I found no noticeable noise for any effects except when using the distortion effects turned up pretty high (which is normal for a distortion unit). I love the distortion on this unit. There are tons of options allowing me to get just the right distortion style for a particular sound I’m looking for. The distortion effects are very good quality. Noise is only present when they are over used, just as is the case with real analog audio distortion units. I found the digital distortion to emulate analog distortion very well in many settings.
SURPRISES
One effect that surprised me was the sampler, which is not really an “effect”. It supports looping and overdubbing, which is quite handy when messing around live because it’s so easy to use. It can also play in reverse, and at 1/2 the speed in either direction. While I do have digital recording equipment that can also do this, it’s simpler and quicker to use the FX2000 for creating basic audio loops. I found that I use it quite a bit for this purpose.
There’s 1 additional multi-effect chain present in the distortion section called Vocal Distortion which is distortion + delay + flanger. This is a pretty useful multi-effects combination.
Two other surprises are the Auto Panning and Tremolo effects when used with the Saw Down waveform option in conjunction with the Auto Modulation setting turned up all the way. This produces a rapid banjo-like strumming sound which increases in speed as the input volume level increases. Used with a synthesizer, this can produce a very interesting effect.
COMPLEXITY
Each effect has up to 6 controls that can be changed, and some control settings produce very dramatic changes in the effect. For example, the basic echo effect’s control settings are a bit complex, more complex than most echo effects I’ve used in the past. It takes some getting used to. I would be very disappointed if it wasn’t as complex as it is though. There are other simpler to use, less feature rich effects boxes out there, and for the less technically inclined they might be a bit overwhelmed by the many options available in the FX2000. But for people that love tweaking effects to get the exact combination they are looking for, this is a great effects unit.
Some of the sound effects available are not obvious at first, and require tweaking to get them to be very useful musically. For example, the rapid banjo strumming effect requires going into the Tremolo effect’s menu options and selecting the Saw Down waveform and turning up the Auto Modulation setting, producing a pretty awesome sound that’s totally unlike a typical tremolo effect.
NEGATIVES
The one effect that was a bit disappointing was the pitch shift effect. I was hoping it might sound as real as the other effects, but it doesn’t. It would be unbelievable actually if it did at this price, because realistic pitch shifting units are super expensive. Real time live pitch shifting effects require very intense processing power. This unit’s pitch shifting is not accurate, producing very distinct digital artifacts as you shift up or down past 5 semi-tones. It can be used for some very interesting effects, but because of the digital artifacts which increase as you bend further up or down it’s not that useful for a vocal harmonizer. It’s got it’s uses, but expect that if shifted too much it doesn’t sound real and is not accurate. For example, if I play a pure perfect digital sine wave at middle C using a digital synthesizer and then I shift it up 1 octave using the FX2000, the sound it produces is no longer a pure sine wave. I can very clearly hear frequency beating in the sound wave as if there are two voices playing slightly off key from each other, even when just playing the single shifted sound from the FX2000 without the original middle C sound playing. Even when set to just shift 1 voice up 1 octave it always sounds like it’s producing 2 voices shifted up 1 octave that are slightly off key from each other producing a beating effect. There is no way to get rid of the beating effect. The beating is very obvious when shifting 1 octave. It does sound pretty cool though as a digital sound effect. Sometimes a digital effect that’s obviously digital can add a nice touch when used properly.
The other disappointment is that you cannot create your own multi-effects chains. The multi-effects chains it can produce are presets only (i.e., delay+reverb, flanger+reverb, etc.). You can alter the parameters for them, change how they are ordered, but you cannot create your own effects chains. If you wanted tremolo+phaser, for example, there is no option for that effects chain.
SUMMARY
This unit is GREAT as an addition to any synthesizer. It’s got some really good effects that none of my synthesizers have built in. I can get some pretty amazing mind blowing sounds from this unit when used in conjunction with my synthesizers. I highly recommend this to anyone using synthesizers who’s familiar with tweaking complex effects, filters, LFOs, etc. This unit is almost like a super effects synthesizer without the oscillators and keyboard.
I am VERY SATISFIED with this purchase. The FX2000 is truly a Swiss army knife effects box. It does a ton of things not found on other effects boxes. It does most of them very well and most of the effects sound realistic. The distortion alone is worth the price of this unit. But if you’re looking for very realistic pitch shifting effect, you are better off buying units solely devoted to pitch shifting, and expect to pay MORE for that affect alone. A realistic sounding pitch shifter alone will cost about 5-10 times as much as this unit costs. Live real time pitch shifting requires a very high level of processing power in order to sound realistic.
UPDATE AFTER OVER 4 YEARS OF USE: After owning this and using it several days a week regularly for over 4 years now, I haven’t had a single issue with it. It works as well as the day I purchased it. All the knobs and buttons are all still in great condition. This is a really well made quality device, built like a tank. Highly recommended!
Top

excellent product delivers what it offers thoroughly recommended’m comfortable with our purchase rate give good hope it will help me spell my comments
No matter where you are in your music career, recording or live performance, for any genre, this is a must have. Don’t just take my word for it, find some one who has one and you too will be blown away by the reliable excellence of the Behringer FX2000 3D Multi-Engine Effects Processor.
It improved the microphones. And made the sound much better for the singers. Couldn’t ask for a better processor for the price.
This is a great unit for it’s price. Great sound and lots of effects.
In terms of construction it is built like a tank, I take it on the road and i’m not afraid.
There is however some things i would change. It would be awesome to be able to have two completely different processing effects in the 2 channels, but that only works with certain effects. And in terms of noise it can become a pain in the a** in the studio. Some of the effects can become a bit noisy, that’s probably something that they could change in the programming algorithms.
Overall it’s a great unit to use live, specially for reverbs and delays. I use it live on vocals with some “ultramizer” (multiband compressor) and enhancerlimiter and it works really well to contain some of the dynamics.
Used similar box from Behringer back in the 80’s so this is a blast from the past. Using with 16 channel mixer board in church sound room for vocal effects. More than enough effects. Attached to board using effects send and receive therefore you can choose what channels/mics are using the effects and how much effect for each. Per manual you should not plug a microphone nor instrument directly into the effect box. Hope this helps…
Certainly you get a lot for your dosh and good value too. Takes a bit of getting used to editing your set-ups and saving them in the user section but provided you read the manual thoroughly it becomes quite easy. I’m no sound engineer but I was able to get the effects I wanted very quickly for my keyboards – the hardest part was setting up the keyboards and mixer to route the voices through the effects box.
My only grouse is that you can’t name your effects settings, you either have to have an exceptional memory or write them down, otherwise this would have 5 stars.
Great selection of effects. Would like to have more flexability to make alterations to existing effects or even start one from fresh. Arrived on time but was not packaged so it was no secret that I was buying quite a lot of recording equipment.
