If you are coming from cheap, bass-boosted muddy Bluetooth headphones, you might get an initial shock as you can suddenly hear more than just the bass. The sudden change may trigger a panicked trip to the EQ to immediately ramp up the bass, but I would strongly advise against doing this (I’m not suggesting to ignore EQ changes, but why would you immediately try to make these headphones sound like your old $35 back-up pair other than for that small comfort of familiarity?).
The lows, mids, and highs are all there, just maybe not in the way that you are used to. A subtler touch with the EQ (especially around 6-8khz) smooths out the highs, but otherwise they really don’t need much adjusting. Pair these headphones with a suitable setup and service like Tidal and you can enjoy the newfound layers of your favourite songs!
Overall, they sound good, feel sturdy, and do a good job at blocking external sound even without ANC, though I would also recommend the softer velour cushions over the synthetic leather.
Suddenly you’re able to hear sounds you didn’t even know were there in your favourite songs. Very rich sound, good bass, good high pitch. Comfortable, but do not attempt to do any sports in them, your ears will likely overheat. But just for listening to the music or watching movies they are excellent, even for long hours. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
Another great purchase from Beyerdynamic. I have had the DT 770 pro 80 ohm headphones for years but I wanted a more portable pair. In my search I went through a number of sets from other brands and all had serious flaws due to overly complex designs and/or low durability. My budget also has not increased. And so only one clear choice remained, the 32 ohm DT 770 pro! The wire is a more manageable length and it even sounds a little more punchy. Of course if they made the wire detachable in the first place I could have just switched wires and saved a lot of money but honestly can’t say I regret the purchase!
Did a lot of research before deciding on these cans. Just needed for Garage band on an iMac so 32ohms is fine. Wish the lead was a bit longer but that’s the only gripe. Nice and comfortable with a great sound. Job done.
I bought these to use at home instead of my Sony WH-1000MX4. At least to my ears the Sonys and the DT770s sound equally good. The downside with the DT770s is they clamp quite tightly and are uncomfortably tight especially whilst wearing spectacles. Also they aren’t great for use whilst lying down because they are large and dig into pillows or cushions increasing the pressure on your ears. Other than that they are decent headphones at a fair price.
